Sound from HDMI and pc speakers at the same time

Question: Sound from HDMI and pc speakers at the same time

Hi guys!

I've been struggling with this problem since I got my computer, a little over a year ago.

I've tried everything, but can't figure out how to get sounds from my pc speakers and HDMI at the same time. It's really annoying having to change the primary output multiple times a day (I watch a lot of movies using HDMI-cable to my tv). Might sound like a little problem to you, but I'm becoming obsessed with this

My soundcard is some kind of a Realtek HD -thingy, if that helps.

Any advice would be appreciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Sound from HDMI and pc speakers at the same time

That is the way it works. You can only have one "default playback device" - either your Speakers (PC sound) or the HDMI.

I've seen other posts about this, but don't recall seeing any way around this.

So I've got a problem,I changed my case 2 days ago and everything went great, all working as it should be.Up until an hour ago, when the lid got stuck in one of the little clips so after a quick bang it went in.But then I lost my picture on both monitors.
So I went to investigate,I ended up moving the GPU over to the other 16x slot and it is now fine.
but since then I've lost all sound through either the front or rear jacks,It is saying that the speakers are not connected.I've done all the usual checks,as in default devises, drivers.Everything I can think of I have done.I have tried a new cable, and tested through both of my phones and the speakers work fine.I've also tried a few sets of headphones in both jacks. There is a faint hiss sound when I turn the speakers on,that has just started.
I have managed to get sound through my tv via HDMI,but every time,I go into audio manager and lets say change from soft to hard,I loose the sound again, and have to set the HDMI as default again.this too has just started.
I'm using the on board realtek audio sound card ,on an Asus p8z77-lx motherboard.
Just a quick note when I plug in the jack, there is no beep and the pop up screen does not appear as normal.
To me it is pointing towards a motherboard problem, with the 2 problems happening together.Any help would be great.

Answer:No sound through speakers.Jack not being detected.HDMI sound only?

Hiyya Paul mate sounds like (no pun intended) that thump dislodged something on the board just carefully move the I/O output block and see if there is any movement, could be something a simple as dry joint but which is going to be hard to find and fix.

If you have some warranty and I know it is a PITA having to reef it all out again but.....

Personally I have the P8Z77-V and I just stuck an Asus Xonar DG card in the thing and there is no comparison really and you get one heck of a control centre. Not expensive I don't know about where you are but out here $35 so both my Ivy and Sandy Bridges have them.

Yesterday I installed a new external hard drive - following the installation - my sound no longer played through my television (video is fine, HDMI connection) and sound now comes ONLY through the laptop speakers.

The option for HDMI Audio doesn't appear in the 'sound' menus. I have 'checked' "shoe disabled" and "show disconnected" in those menus.
Basic Specs:

DV7-4060us

Windows 7/64bit

IDT High Definition Audio Codec

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250
AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon 4250

I have tried the following fixes gleaned from other forum posts on similar forum posts:

Uninstalling and reinstalling IDT drivers - didn't work.

HP driver 'recovery manager' to install 'original' IDT audio codecs - didn't work.

Unistalled ATI Video Drivers , and reinstalled them - didn't work

System Restore to a week ago - didn't work.

I use my HD TV as my primary monitor for gaming, so having sound through laptop speakers and not TV is quite annoying.

Perhaps my only solution is another sound card?

Answer:no sound through tv via hdmi, sound plays through laptop speakers (idt

So you're trying to get audio to play on your TV from your laptop? Since you said the video is fine it's obviously not the video drivers. It sounds like the sound output is configured wrong. I don't think it would be labeled as HDMI. HDMI is just DVI with HD Audio. Try altering your sound settings to see what you can get.

Audio is a very difficult thing to diagnose and fix.

Maybe this is obvious, but it surprised me. When the DP-HDMI adapter is connected to the DP port, no sound will come out of internal or external speakers, or the headphone jack. When I unplug the DP-HDMI adapter, the sound works. This is awkward to have to disconnect the adapter when not watching TV so that we can get sound from PC. Is there a way to keep the adapter connected and still get sound through the PC speakers/jack? BTW - I do get full sound & video when the adapter is plugged in and connected to the TV. I have additional 2 DP ++ ports on the rear plate but when I plugged the adapter into either of them; no sound or video will pass to TV. Thanks for your input.M83 SFF ThinkCentre

Solved!

Answer:M83 - No Sound from (Int or Ext) speakers when DP-HDMI adapter connected

Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray notification area.  Then select "playback devices".  This is how you designate which of possibly multiple alternative audio outputs you want to use. You must pick the appropriate item shown which you want to use for your speakers. Then push the "set default" button, and you should now be getting audio sent through that path to whatever speakers or external sound system you've selected. If you want to get sound via HDMI from a TV, you obviously have to select the appropriate HDMI item from "playback devices", and also must have the proper vendor audio drivers installed that supports audio via HDMI.  This is a separate audio driver (unique from the video driver) to send out audio via the same HDMI cable supporting video to the HDMI-connected display device. What is the video card in your machine?

I'm having some trouble with my laptop's sound. Every few minutes, it sounds like the audio skips and buzzes for less than a second. It sounds like interference or something. I was certain it was a fault with the speakers, but the problem exists when listening on headphones and even on the TV connected through HDMI. Also, it happens in Windows Media Player, Adobe Flash, or anything that has audio. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

Answer:Sound Buzzing in Speakers/Headphones/HDMI

I'm still not having any luck. After doing some tests, I determined that the mouse and keyboard are affected too. Every 30 seconds, on the second, everything stutters for less than a second. In addition to the audio problems described, the keyboard stops taking input and the mouse automatically clicks a link if the cursor is hovered over it. Any ideas on what's going on?

I have an external monitor with no speakers I use as a dual display along with my laptop monitor. No sound comes out of my laptop speakers nor when I hook up external speakers to it while I have the external monitor hooked up by the HDMI cable. Is there anything I can do to get this to work?
Thanks,
Bill

Answer:HDMI monitor no speakers-no sound from anywhere when connected?

Right click on the volume control and then Properties,

When you connect the HDMI it becomes the default output device, even though it has no speakers.

You need to change this back to "Speakers" and set as default.

I have the same issue in windows 10 home 64 bit-
HDMI monitor no speakers-no sound from anywhere when connected?

When I right click on the volume control, the options it shows are:
open volume control
playback devices
recording devices
sounds
volume control options

It does not give me a properties option.

Then I went to control panel and searched for sound. Then I saw the screen below. There was a Digital Audio as well and I clicked 'Don't use this device(disable)' on it by mistake and clicked OK.

Now, I only have Speakers option. How do I get the Digital Audio option back in here? I think that will solve my original problem.

Thanks

is there a fix for this? i have onboard sound enabled in the bios.

i know i cannot have sound coming through the tv and computer speakers at the same time. is it possible for the sound to be switched back to the computer speakers when the tv is off WITHOUT having to unplug the hdmi cable that goes to the tv?

Answer:no sound through computer speakers when hdmi cable connected to tv

when the hdmi cable is connected and you want the computer speakers to work set the realtek hd audio as the default output device. You basically have 2 sound cards and you need to tell windows which one you want to use.

Hi

I have connect my laptop using an HDMI cable to my TV. And from my tv I have connected my two HiFi speakers. When the TV is on an AV channel I have sound coming from the TV and HiFi speakers but when I switch it to the HDMI source channel, sound only comes from the TV and not HiFi speakers.

This is frustrating because I want to watch movies on my TV through my laptop and get the feel of some surround sound through the HiFi speakers but it is not working!!!!

Please Help!

Thanks

Answer:No sound to HiFi speakers when HDMI Cable Connected

The problem is not your PC but your TV and how it handles HDMI audio. There is nothing we can do for this, it is strictly an issue with your TV and how it routes audio internally (or to external devices).

I've pluged a HDMI cable from my laptop into my TV and theres no sound coming from the TV just the laptop speakers. I've tried going into my control -> sound options -> playback -> and setting the HDMI output to default but still no luck, whats listed is :

Speakers
Realtek Digital Output (Optical)
Realtek HDMI Output
Digital Output device (HDMI)

and next to each one listed is like a sound meter, the only one thats active is the speakers at the top which im guessing is the laptop speakers.

After upgrade to windows 8.1 my sound when connected to TV via HDMI is not coming through the TV speakers, before upgrade it worked, the TV does not show up in Playback Devices to click as default and I right clicked to view Show Disabled Devices.

I have only had the Laptop for a few days and I am at a loss what to do. I did not follow the uninstall Intel WIDI before update if it was there in the first place as I have not been able to find anything concerning Nvidia all folders are empty and no drivers installed so who know if WIDI was there?
What should I do? Hopefully not go back to Windows 8.

The Toshiba utility to find if I need update to drivers is not helpful and Device Manager says they are all up to date for Display and sound.

Hi everyone,

Here is the issue I'm having. I have an Asus K61-IC dual booting Windows 7 Professional x64 (default) & Fedora 16 x64. In Windows, whenever I plug in a HDMI cable to watch a movie on my LCD TV audio will only come out of laptop speakers and when I open audio properties it says HDMI audio not connected or something to that effect (at the moment, I'm not able to connect it to the TV) and it will not let me click on properties, but when I open the driver properties, it tells me everything is working fine. I cannot figure this out for s#%t. Thanks for any help that yall can provide.

Thank You,

Answer:Asus K61-IC Sound coming from speakers when HDMI is plugged in

The problem is usually with the video as it controls the HDMI audio. If its not detecting or properly detecting the HDMI cable connection then you can have the problem you have.

Reinstall the Video drivers (or install the latest driver for the video) and see if that helps.

I've just received my Laptop back from repair and all seems to be well, I had my screen panel replaced, gpu replaced(from 570m to 670m), new hard drive and CPU fan. However the problem I seem to be having is that internal speakers are completely not working.

I can see that bolume bar in for my internal speakers is actually changing but there is no sound. My system is not muted (unless there's some secret button I'm missing out on) No matter what i try it seems that sound will not work through my internal speakers, I've plugged in my Razer headset(Kraken) that works with my other computer but is not even detected when plugged in the Audio jacks of my laptop(Doesnt even pick up the microphone) and this did work before I sent it out for repair. Sound only works through HDMI output into a TV/Monitor.

Now I'm not sure if this some software configuration that I have to do or something physical with the hardware but I would prefer to not have to send it back as it would take a month to get back to me and also the repair company states that if the problem is due to software then they will charge.

I assume it's a conflict that Realtek HD audio manager is having or something but none of my devices show up on the RealtekHD Audio Manager nor do I get a pop up when a device is detected(which is what normally would of happened)

Hey everyone

Recently i had my motherboard fixed and my speaker ports are in a diff place. Vertical instead of horizontal down the bottom (no i don't know much about hardware). There are still the same three holes, pink blue and green, not sure if they were different colours don't think it matters. I've got creative inspire 5.1 5200 speakers
http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=25&product=55
and only the speakers which are plugged into the top speaker port (green) work.
The subwoofer seems to work no matter which speakers are plugged in but I
can only have the back two, the front two or the centre speaker working at once.
The bottom port is used for the microphone and that works all the time, the middle port doesn't do anything really.
I've tried downloading a bunch of realtek AC97 drivers to get it to work because I used to have one which had a speaker setup tab, and i could change from microphone to surround sound from there:
http://www.fujitsu-siemens.co.uk/rl...ds/Soundcards/Avance ac97 (ms6547)/audio4.JPG
I don't have the speaker config tab on mine anymore, but i do have HRTF demo.

I have a HP Pavilion g6, Win10. Today the sound on my laptop started playing from the speakers and headphones at the same time. A quick google tells me this is a known and stubborn problem for some HP users. None of the advice worked for me so I tried the option of unisntalling and reinstalling the sound drivers. Looking at the 'Sound' tab of the cotrol panel in Playback there was a device, IDT High Definition Audio, which said it wasn't working. Looking at the control panel I had two options for which sound driver to uninstall- AMD HD Audio Device, or IDT High Definition Audio. Given the fact that IDT Audtio was apprently not working, I chose to unisntall that one. I unchecked the box saying to remove all drivers.  Apparently this was the wrong thing to do, but the instructions made no mention of this. I then searched for and downloaded the IDT High Def Audio driver, restarted my computer and... No sound, and no way of reinstalling the driver. In device manager if I scan for hardware changes it comes up with nothing. If I try all the options to reinstall the sound driver, and even specify the folder where I downloaded the IDT High Def driver, it tells me my sound driver is already up to date. In the Sound tab of the Control Panal, in Playback, I now only have one thing - "Digital Display Audio" - and that's with it showing disabled devices too. Help! Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

Hopefully someone can assist with this annoying problem. My mother's computer, for some unknown reason, plays all sounds and music through the actual PC tower AND the external speakers.

We want to disable the sound coming from the PC, as when she has music on or is playing World of Warcraft etc, its really annoying to hear the tinny sounds through the PC tower. We just want to hear it through the external speakers.

She's running a HP Compaq dc5700 PC with Windows XP. The default sound is via RealTek HD Audio.

It hasn't always done this - its a recent issue.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

I have an Insignia NS-NBBAR USB sound bar and the internal speakers of my Lenovo V570. I am trying to use both sets of speakers at the same time. Is there any way to accomplish this?

Answer:USB sound bar and internal laptop speakers at the same time

You can only have one default audio playback device, such as your "Speakers" (the PC's sound card and speakers) or some other device such as the USB soundbar, if it sets itself as the default audio playback device.

In the Windows audio playback tab there's only "speakers" but sound is playing from both speakers and the headphones, with headphones plugged into the right jack. I checked the Realtek Control Panel and there was F**K ALL for options there (see attached). There is an Intel(R) Display Audio in Device Manager alongside Realtek High Definition Audio. So now I can't watch warm-up videos at school without blasting the sounds through my speakers as well.

I tried a System Restore to before the problem started but it didn't do anything. The problem started around the time I ran an Advanced Systemcare 8 scan, which does the following tasks:
Spyware Removal
Registry Fix
Privacy Sweep
Junk Files Clean
Internet Boost
Shortcuts Fix
Registry Defrag
System Optimization
Security Defense
Disk Scan
Vulnerability Fix (Windows Updates)
Disk Optimization
Also when I move my laptop it shuts off for some reason, so it could've interupted the scan or updates or something.

I have a rather cheap and poor quality Trust 5.1 surround system and a rather awesome View Quest SonicDock.

While my current, best, computer was away being repaired, I wired up all the speakers in a rather complicated manner which enabled me to have c/sub, the two front side speakers, and the SonicDock output simultaneously, at maximum volume. However, the read side speakers never worked with that cabling and I thought they had both died until I got this computer back and connected the surround properly.

Why do I want the audio to output through two sets of speakers at the same time? The subwoofer from the surround set is awful. The SonicDock produces some literally desk-shaking bass.

So, the computer has the following audio ports:
(rear)
in (blue), out (green), mic (pink), c/sub (orange), rear (black), side (grey)
(front panel)
mic (pink), headphones (green)
Basically, I don't WANT surround. My room isn't big enough and the speakers can't be strategically positioned, I just want the maximum sound output. I.e. I don't want WMP to just be sending audio to the front speakers, I want sound to come out of all the speakers, even if it's just stereo sound but through all 6/7 speakers.
I've fiddled with all the Realtek HD Audio manager settings and can't get it to work how I want it to. When I tried stacking earphone splitters and connecting the four speaker cables into that stack and plugged into the rear green out port, it didn't work as intended.

I think what I'd like to do... Read more

First off, I use a Trust 5.1 surround system and I bought it knowing that I was getting what I paid for :I

But on to your problem, with Realtek it is easily possible to output to two sets of speakers at once (as long as your dock has a single 3.5mm for input).
Unfortunately I don't have Realtek anymore since I bought my X-Fi so I'm going purely from memory here. In the Realtek control panel (accessible through Windows control panel), there is the ability to toggle front panel audio concurrently with your normal, rear port audio. Luckily Google has a far better memory than I.

How to get headphones and speakers working at the same time? - Super User

You may or may not have to reassign some of the speaker functions through the port connections in Realtek, but I never had to.

Answer:Satellie L500-1CQ - Sound from headphone and speakers at the same time

Hello

Have you tested other headphones or external speakers? If not you should do this!!!

Furthermore I miss some important informations about your operating system and sound driver. You should try updating the sound driver. The newest version you can find on the Toshiba website.

One thing you could try is to open up the Control panel then click on Sound and then go to the Playback tab and see if there is anything in there to enable it that's what I had to do on my laptop.

Hi, I've a strange problem with the sound output via HDMI. If my T460 is connected to a dockingstation and my monitor is connected to the station via HDMI cable I've sound output from the speakers. So everything works fine and I can also the monitor as device for sound outpu at the sound options. Then I change only one thing at my setup. I directly connect the monitor with the same HDMI cable directly to the HDMI port of my notebook. The video signal is still transmitted perfectly but the sound is gone. Also the device for sound is gone from the sound options. I've only graphics from the intel on board chip and all drivers are uptodate. I also reinstalled them several times. What can I do to solve this problem? Always use the dockingstation is no option, because I also want to connect the notebook to a TV or so and I can't carry a dockingstation with me all the time. Thanks for help!

Hi I bought a E470 Thinkpad with windows 10 ~2 months ago. The computer has been sitting idle for the last month (in sleep mode) and when I started it today I have an issue where the internal speakers wont output any sound. However connecting headphones or other external devices lets me outout audio (through said device). I've looked through various topics online (non-lenoveo related). The most common issues people have are the following:-Speakers are disabled / not selected as default device  *Pretty confedent this isn't my problem as everythin seems fine in the audio properties/settings-The driver is broken and needs reinstallation / replacement  *I have reinstalled the driver "Conexant Smartaudio HD", same problem after restart  *I have replaced the driver with the "High Definition Audio Device", same problem after restart-There's a sensor in the mini-jack socket whats faulty leading the computer to believe headphones are connected  *I don't know the correct way to go about diagnosing this, but several users on another forum fixed the issue (on different computers) by "poking around" with a toothpick in the audio jack.  Other observations / useful info:The computer does not appear to "know" that there is an issue with the audio. The internal speakers are not disabled, in able to adjust the volume bar. Hi guys, just reinstalled windows 7. everything works great, then I went to paly a file and to my surprise, no sound. Tested speakers on another device, they work. Sound card drivers are working and up to date.

When I play a media file, I can see the sound gage go. So I went in sounds, playback device, and all I see in there is my sound card, no speakers or headphones icon. Thus no sounds from speakers. Tried other headphones/speakers they also dont work on the PC.

First two screenshots are my Device Manager, third one shows my playback devices.. My wife needs this for her business and I am losing sleep over this for days now I tried everything. Any ideas?

What sound card do you have?

Double-click on the HD audio device in Device Manager - what is driver and date?

Usually there is an audio codec/ drivers, e.g., IDT, Realtek, etc... that must be installed.

What are system specs - exact model number from label on back of PC, please.

Using a 3.5mm stereo mini phone plug to RCA jack adapter I have managed to connect my comps sound to the radio and it works. However, due to a fit of stupidity I have overlooked the fact that only either the radio's speakers or the computer's speakers can be connected to the computer's sound output at once.

I am wondering if its possible to have both my radio's speakers as well as my computer's speakers play at the same time because I would like to achieve a surround sound effect because of the way my room is made. My computer has a jack slot behind that looks like " (<-->)" , almost like that ordinary output one which looks like "(<-). Can that be used as an output slot as well? Cuz when I tried putting the radio into the (<-->) slot and the comps speakers into the (<-) or vice versa, only the one put into the (<-) will play.

Answer:How to make radio speakers and computer speakers play at the same time?

Go get a splitter. I have my audio output setup using a splitter and it works fine. You can hook up both devices to the 1 output jack on your pc.

Hello,

I am currently working on a homemade project in my free time called Project Surround. I am trying to get a full surround sound setup in my room. I have 2 wired speakers in the front and a Bluetooth speaker in the back. The problem is I need both the wired and Bluetooth speakers to play at the same time. Any way I can do that?

Answer:Play Audio from Wired Speakers and Bluetooth Speakers at the same time

Windows only allows one default audio playback device, thus unless you can find some third party app that will allow both, you won't be able to do that. You will need a full surround PC sound system.

With Dell Support Assist microphone test -- earphone playback is good, on-board speaker is terribly scratchy. The sound card lists as "ATI high Definition Audio Device" and "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC."
The laptop is Dell Studio 15 (1555) running windows 7 Professional, 236GB used, 214GB free space, Intel P8700 2.53 GHz Processor, 64 bit OS, 4GB memoryThe built-in speakers used to sound good but now they are too scratchy to understand. However the headset and external speakers (both 3.5 mm jack interface) sound good and a HDMI connected projector sounds good.
I will appreciate advice.

Answer:On-board speakers are scratchy but external speakers & headphones sound good?

Hello. As a test, switch from the IDT audio driver to the Windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "IDT High Definition Audio Device".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, then no need to restart.[To get back to the IDT driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 2 and 7.]
If you get the noise while using the native driver then it is not a driver issue, which would mean there is a strong chance of speaker failure, particularly since the noise is not in headphones. If you would like to replace the speakers I can point you to the service manual.

Hi, I just got an Ideapad Y560 with Windows 7 64 bit and out of the box the sound doesn't work when I connect the laptop to my TV using an HDMI cable.  I went to Control Panel - Sound, and immediately I got the popup message:Windows has detected that audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems:Realtek HDMI Output (ATI HDMI Audio)Would you like to disable Driver Enhancements for this device? So, I'm guessing that the driver enhancements are the problem, but what should I do next, diable the driver enhancements, install an updated driver, or something else? I don't know what a driver enhancement is. My goal is to get sound through the TV when I plug in the HDMI cable and then have the PC switch back to internal speakers when I detatch the HDMI cable, which is what it should be doing in the first place. Thanks for your help

Answer:No sound over HDMI cable - might be Realtek HDMI Output issue

I tried disabling the driver enhancements.  That didn't seem to do anything.  The Realtek HDMI option is present in Sounds in the Control Panel, but the sound level meter doesn't show any activity, even when the HDMI cable is plugged in.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Question: HDMI and Speakers

Hey, DejaVu420 here.

I just bought a brand new 32 Inch flat screen HD TV to use as my PC monitor, and it just happen to come with a pair of very nice built in speakers. I currently have another pair of homemade speakers (12 inch sub w/ 2 satilites) wired to plug into the back of my PC, using just the good ol lil green hole. Now this works perfectly fine, sh*t bumps, and the HDMI speakers operate perfectly fine as well, when i have either or selected in the windows Vista "Sound" device list.

My question is, is there ANY way at all, that i can get the HDMI speakers to operate in unison with my PC speakers?

I cant wire them together... so im thinking of some type of program that could output to HDMI and analog at the same time? Basicly i need to use the "Speaker" playback device in unison with the "ATI HDMI Output" playback device.

Wish windows would just make this an option...

Thanks for the help!

Is it possible to get sound from TV on HDMI and at the same time through the speakers/headphones from the computer ? If so how to configure ?

Answer:HDMI and speakers simultaneous ?

It may be possible but I haven't seen it. You can only have one default sound card and in this case either the "speakers" (Your PC's sound card) or the HDMI audio output.

- choosing to show disabled devices in Control Panel/Sound menu
- looking for driver update

My problem seems to be that the TV speakers are not showing up in any of the menus (Control Panel/Sound and Device Manager).

Hello

I need help with setting up my hardware...

Recently I purchased a MSI GS30 Shadow which is a unique laptop system that docks onto a desktop to significantly boost the notebooks overall abilities.
Notebook - The best gaming notebook provider

However when the notebook is docked it cannot be used, so external keyboard, mouse & screen are required (all of which I have hooked up and working fine) however I am now trying to hook up a pair of speakers that I purchased to this system which just isn't as easy or 'plug n play' as I thought it would be...

The TV is a 24" samsung flat screen with a HDMI port & USB port along with inline audio/video ports.

The speakers are Polytron PAS 68
http://polytron.co.id/?fuseaction=ho...peaker&id=1133

I've plugged the speakers from their rear inline (red & white) ports into the TVs rear inline (red & white ports) nothing.
I've plugged the speakers from their front USB port into the TVs rear USB port, nothing.
I've plugged the speakers from their front USB port into the Laptops USB port, nothing.

I am now no longer sure what I could or should do to try and get these speakers operational ANY help would be so GREATLY appreciated!

When I look into the Playback Devices for Audio in windows the speakers do not show up, I have tried researching online for Polytron Drivers but have found nothing.

Please please please help me on this I am at my wits end here...

Cheers

ok to uncomplicate things ive read thru the forums and could not find anything concrete on this problem of mine..

i have a gigabyte mobo/amd cpu w/onboard hdmi

my issue is sound switching right now as it stands, i need to manually switch on my pc between the HDMI audio as my main device and my PC speakers as my main device... on my laptops this is not a problem, it can automatically detect if hdmi is plugged in and switch sound over..

the main reason is its a slight pain to keep going over after a movie and switch over, nor do i want to disconnect a hdmi cable every time..

any suggestions how to automate this problem???

Answer:hdmi audio/std. speakers switching

Laptops have built in speakers and probably the reason the laptop has the needed hardware (and/or software) to accomplish this. On a desktop, speakers are not an "internal" device and probably the reason for this. I see the same issue posted on the Dell users forum.

My friend connected an external monitor to his Sony laptop using an HDMI cable. The problem is that there is no audio from the external monitor speakers. The sound still comes out of the laptop speakers. When I look in Playback Devices, I see what appears to be the speakers as a device (can't remember exactly what is was called, but it was a somewhat vague name like "audio device"), and I've tried various settings, yet I can't get sound from the speakers.

So my question is, does an HDMI connection on a monitor support audio, or does he need to get a audio cable and use the green audio jack that is on the monitor, which I thought was just needed with the VGA connector.

Thanks

Answer:No audio to HDMI monitor speakers

It depends on what is available on the specific PC. Normally, both Video and Audio are on the HDMI port, and when a cable is connected to the HDMI port Windows automatically changes the default audio playback device from the "Speakers" (The PC's sound card) to the HDMI as the default audio playback device.

Since this is not happening, either the incorrect video driver (which includes HDMI audio) is not installed or the PC does not have the capability.

About all I can offer without the specific Sony PC Model Number so we can research what it has.

Answer:Sandstrom Bluetooth speakers and hdmi!!! :)

I may not be understanding what you are trying to do here, but it sounds like you have the audio output device set as the HDMI connection, so the audio is bypassing any speakers connected to your computer and going to the surround system. I don't know enough about Windows sound settings to say if you can specify multiple output devices (at once), though.

Hello I have just built a system and bought a new monitor which has inbuilt speakers and hdmi connection.

Monitor is LG 24MP68VQ and I installed it's drivers too. I used HDMI cable (it came with monitor) and the display works greatly.

I am currently using onboard graphics (Intel HD 630). Cpu is i5-7500 and MB is MSI B250M Bazooka. Windows 7 version is Professional 64 bit. I installed every driver on motherboards web page (including Realtek Audio drivers). While installing Intel graphics it also showed Intel Audio drivers. I guess it's because I use HDMI cable. On playback devices page there are:

Speakers - High Definiton Audio Device (I guess it's Realtek)

LG IPS FULLHD - Intel Display Audio and this one is set as default.

While I can't set the first one as default as the option is greyed. And lastly, when I plug headphone onto monitor sound comes from the headphone. I really have no idea what's going on. And I searched nearly everyting on the internet.

I use my computer mainly for living room entertainment and I use my HDTV (LG LED 1080p) as my main computer screen. Everything used to work fine but I've recently started having problems with the sound. When I turn the computer on, the sound works perfectly. However, if I close the TV or change the input from my computer to anything else, and then go back to the computer, the sound is gone.

I looked through the sound options in the Control panel and noticed that the sound problem comes from my TV speakers (identified as AMD HDMI output) being unplugged. This is obviously impossible because the speakers are in the TV so this must be a Windows problem. This output works perfectly when the sound is on.

My TV is connected to my computer through a single HDMI cable for sound and image (ATI Radeon 5700 graphics card and ASUS M4A79XTD EVO motherboard on-board soundcard, both with latest drivers). I use Windows 7 premium home edition 64-bit and I have 4 GB of RAM.

I found that either logging off from Windows or restarting the computer will bring the sound back on. Unfortunately, as soon as I turn off the TV or change the input, the sound goes off again. I am looking for a less bothersome and more permanent solution to the problem. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!

Answer:Windows 7 Unplugging my HDMI display's speakers

First step would be to update (or reinstall if you have the latest) the drivers for your video card. The video card senses when something is plugged into the HDMI port, and controls that (not Windows).

Go to the AMD site and get the latest drivers, including the Catalyst Control Center.

I then went and right clicked on the speaker icon, went to playback devices, and then saw that the AMD HDMI Output was "not plugged in," even though it was. I thought maybe my speakers got damaged, but I plugged them into my TV and they worked fine. I am lost as to what I can do to resolve my audio issues

Hi all, recently bought a LCD TV with several HDMI inputs. My laptop has an HDMI output so naturally thought they would work well together!Well i can easily get my laptop to display on the tv, not a problem there, however all sound is still coming out of the laptop speakers. I was under the impression that HDMI carries audio also?Right clicking on the Speaker icon and selecting playback devices, it lists the speakers and HDMI but even setting the HDMI to default the sound still registers out of the speakers. How do i get the sound going through my tv?Cheers

HDMI does carry audio as well as video.Do you have to select HDMI input on your TV menu (most likely via the remote control)?

The computer doesn't even recognise that the speakers are connected and says no device. When I try opening the sound control it gives me this error message saying "no sound mixers" In the sounds and audio devices the volume, audio and voice parts are all greyed out In every part it just says No device I found this answer before saying that I have to use the Run application and open the services.msc and check Windows Audio, I did and found it is started but still the problem persists F:\Program Files\Belarc\Advisor\System\tmp\(Abdul-0fb168e59).htmlOn this link you'll be able to find everything about my compPlease I need help ASAP

We just installed a new video card in my boss' PC (Dell XPS tower) I'm honestly unsure of all the specs, but he does run Windows XP Pro. The video card we just put in has a VGA, DVI and HDMI port on the back. We have connected his monitor via the HDMI port and the only sound we are getting is through his monitor's speakers which sound like crap. We want to get the sound to come out of his computer speakers instead of the monitor. I know the sound is coming over the HDMI cable now, but even when I plug the other speakers into his audio port on the motherboard, nothing comes out of those speakers. It's like the HDMI cable takes over everything and won't let any of the other sound ports work. Is there a way to use the HDMI cable and computer speakers? Or is it going to be one or the other? Thanks for any help!

Answer:Computer speakers won't work after using HDMI cable for monitor

My preferred PC setup is a portable device (laptop, ultrabook, 2-in-1) connected to an external monitor. It's been quite a few years since I bought a new PC and monitor combo and it seems that most of the new ultrabooks have eschewed VGA and DVI for HDMI. One of the benefits of HDMI, I was told, was that it not only transfers the picture from your PC but also the sound. As most ultrabooks have middling speakers, I thought this would be a good opportunity to take advantage of the HDMI connection and buy an external monitor with integrated speakers. However, I am having trouble finding some, especially from the better manufacturers (like Dell). The few I could find were from cheaper brands and, not surprisingly, the user reviews knocked off points for subpar speakers. Do all y'all have any recommendations of good monitors with integrated speakers? I was interested in the 21" to 24" range. Or is it better to forget about that and just get separate speakers (wanted to avoid the clutter).
I was also interested in touchscreen monitors, until I saw the prices for them. Damn.

Answer:HDMI External Monitors with Integrated Speakers. Recommendations?

If you want decent sound I recommend you to go with external speakers.

As the title states when I hook up HDMI to my A/V unit (Onkyo 605) I only get sound out of the 2 front speakers.  This is with Vista x64 that came with the unit.  I dualbooted XP x64 and got all speakers working.  I use realtek 2.13 hdmi drivers and 2.14 HD sound drivers on both OS's.   With Vista I can only get two speakers to play.  The option for more speakers is greyed out on the hdmi tab.  This is frustarting as hell and I need this to work.  I want to watch a Blu Ray movie with all the speakers I have in my living room and I want to do it with Vista.  This unit is WAY to costly for these kinds of errors.  I called tech support and, well...they are dumb people who blame users instead of admitting they haven't a clue how to help.  If I want to be accused of idiocy all I have to do is talk to my wife!!!

Answer:Y730 hdmi output only plays on 2 front speakers...help plz

cyberart4, Thanks for sharing - sounds like you have done a lot to narrow down the problem yourself - much appreciated! So, from what you say, the hardware is working fine, and you've proved it out under XP64. Does the 4 channel sound work ok under Vista through the Laptops speakers?  I'm trying to help clarify the issue so we can try to recreate... Mark

Hi,

I've recently purchased a Samsung T23A750 monitor and to my disappointment when I try to watch a movie the built in speakers are not functioning. I have a Sony Vaio Z216GX connected via HDMI to the monitor (HDMI-DVI) port. I can definitely see the video, but no audio is playing from the speakers. The built in speakers are not at fault- I did a self-diagnosis of the monitor and the speakers seem to work fine. I also set the monitor as the default for the audio and even when Win 7 says its functioning properly, the speakers still don't work. Conversely, setting the default to my PC speakers work fine. I'm sure its not the HDMI cable- I used the same one to hook my pc to my tv with everything working fine. Any ideas??

Answer:Monitor Speakers not working when connected via HDMI to laptop

make sure you have the latest drivers for the hdmi can check by going to the windows start bar and right clicking on computer and choosing manage then click device manger and open the tab were it says sound, video and game controllers if you see somthing related to hdmi and has a yellow triangle then right click on it and update software if no yellow triangle is there try it anyways if that doesn't help then post here again, hopefully someone who knows more about hdmi can help also because i never had hdmi but ive had audio problems with my speakers before and this is how ive fixed it before

Dear all,

I found this forum by intensive googling for an answer to this question. As I found nothing, I hope I can get smarter by simply asking you all, thank you for reading!

I have a laptop (Dell XPS M1330) running Vista Home Premium 32bit featuring an HDMI port and, as far as I can see, a soundcard called SigmaTel High Definition Audio. I regularly watch videos on my LCD TV using HDMI and I am constantly annoyed by the fact that the audio output doesn't automatically switch over to HDMI when the cable is connected (or vice versa when the cable is disconnected). One would expect it to do so as this is how it generally works when f.ex. headphones are connected and indeed, on my laptop, the audio switches from speakers to headphones automatically without any problems.

My solution to the problem is to manually change the default output device to HDMI and then restarting the media player. I cannot see why this operation cannot be automatic, and therefore I ask of you all if there is any way to accomplish an automatic switch from speakers to HDMI when an HDMI cable is connected.

Thanks
Jonatan

Answer:Switch audio output device automatically between HDMI and speakers

Yes. I have a 64 bit system that also has an HDMI plug that I have hooked to my Sony TV. It works perfectly and switches off automatically when my TV is not in HD mode ( this is the output title only ). However, I have tried to hook the speakers that came with this Acer 64 bit Vista and it tells me " No Audio Output Device is Installed ". I have reverted back to the monitor that has a built in set of speakers with a separate plug for them, and they still don't work either. I would have to think there is an answer somewhere. We cannot be the only two people wanting our PC's to pull double duty.

A little help ?

Hi, I recently purchased a pair of bluetooth headphones. They work fine while using the PC, but once I switch to my PS3, the audio keeps coming out of the PC's speakers and I keep getting the audio output from Windows.

Is there any way to fix this?

Brand new Windows 7 Home Premium (6 bit) computer. When I click on the Sound control panel item, sometimes it takes 1-2 minutes to open. But that's kind of minor (although I'd like to know how to fix it), because sometimes the HDMI sound to my HDTV works fine, and sometimes it doesn't work at all. The only sure fix is to reboot the computer, which isn't really what I want to do every time I want sound coming from the HDTV speakers.

More details: if I reboot the computer, and then switch from the monitor to the HDTV for my video output, I can open the Sound control panel (opens at normal speed) and then I select the HDTV to be the default sound device; and everything is good. At some point, I stop watching the HDMI output to the HDTV, switch the video to my main monitor, and the sound now comes out of the computer speakers. Great. That's what I want. I can even turn off the HDTV, come back 20 minutes later, switch the video back to the HDTV and the sound goes through the HDTV speakers. Switch back and forth a couple of times and everything works as expected. Great. That's what I want.

But at some later point in time, it stops working, and I don't know what triggers this. At this later point in time, I switch the video from the monitor to the HDTV, but now the sound remains with the computer speakers, if I try to open the sound control panel, it takes 1-2 minutes, and when it finally opens the sound control panel no longer lets me select the HDTV to be the default soun... Answer:Sound Control panel takes 2 minutes to open; HDMI sound inconsistent

I had the slow opening sound panel/playback section for a while. I tried several things and all of a sudden the problem went away. Not sure what fixed it but I have updated the AMD video card drivers several times, no audio driver updates. The only common point is that I too have an AMD video card (HD7770).

In most cases, if the PC "speakers" (sound card) is set as the default audio playback device and then an HDMI cable is plugged into the PC it will automatically switch to the HDMI sound (and make it the default playback device), and if the cable is disconnected it automatically switches back to the speakers. If you are having problems accessing the sound panel, this is another option (for most) until you get the slow opening panel issue resolved.

Good morning everyone,

I am having issues with sound on the M82 or 3306G1U as stated on the subject. The sound works perfectly fine for everything with the exception of Istation, www.istation.com. I did notice that this is only affecting 2 out of the 20 plus computers we have, so its a bit hard to say its just the model. I have tried updating the drivers to the latest version, and as well verified that it was not just the input device for front and back jacks being wonky. Oddly enough the support agent I worked with, used TeamViewer and was able to hear the application just fine, however when I used speakers it was very, very faint but I could also hear it.

Is there any general help anyone can provide me to pinpoint the problem further?

The problem is that the rear speakers sound quieter or muffled from the front and center speakers in my headphones

I tried everything I could think of to make the rear sound like the front but nothing has worked

I know that my rear speakers are not defective because if I switch the front wire and rear wire around the rear speakers sound like they should

I donít know whatís making the rear sound so off

Someone Help

Overall the headphones sound great but the 2 rear speakerís just throw away the whole 5.1 surround headphone feeling

I tried contacting www.speed-link.com

But they have poor service

I'm not the audio guru here... but from what i've seen about the medusa 5.1 headset is that it is a USB headset. Is yours?

I've got the X-fi fatal1ty FPS and a pair of Zalman Theater 6 headphones. Here is how I hook it up.

These headphones are fantastic and have a perfect surround sound field.

is there a way to quickly switch default audio from speakers to HDMI and visa versa with one click or even automatically switch to HDMI when displaying to a 'digital television' (or when an HDMI cable is plugged in) and switch back to speakers when displaying to the 'monitor' (or when the cable is unplugged i am doubtfull of this though as my intel graphic tray has enough trouble switching back to the monitor when the HDMI is unplugged i have to do it manually beforehand)

my main line of though is two batch files, one for switching to HDMI and one to switch to seekers, or one with an if statement i.e.

if (default_audio == Speeaker) set default_audio = HDMI
else set default_audio == Speeaker

can this be done

Hi,  when I use the HDMI cable to play movies on a TV, the only sound coming out is from the TV speakers and not from the home stereo system speakers which are connected from the computer to the LINE IN jack of the home system amplifiier(which I listen to music from the computer on).Is there a way to configure this so both the TV speakers and the stereo system speakers play at the same time? Thanks,RL

Answer:hearing audio thru home stereo speakers when using HDMI-enabled movie on TV

I think the computer is defaulting to putting the audio out via HDMI. You might be able to change something up in the audio driver if your system came with RealTek to put it into multi-output mode.

Alternatively, you could disconnect the computer from the stereo and connect the TV's audio out to the Line IN on the amp.

I have an MSI 785GTM-E45 Mother Board. I have no sound coming from the speakers. Tried new speakers and still no sound. If I click on the speaker Icon on the bottom right it shows the speaker graph going up and down as sound is being produced. I tried the head phones and nothing coming from them either. I tried playing a CD and nothing from there either. I first noticed it when I was trying to play something from YOUTUBE and thought it might just be the site but then I tried off line as well. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. This is the first day that I have noticed it. Thanks for any help. I have checked all the settings I can think of but probably have missed something somewhere.

Answer:No sound from speakers but showing sound graph on speaker control

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Playback section, set your "Speakers" as the Default Playback device (if it's not now set). Then see if you have speaker and/or headphone sound.

I have a problem with audio on system speakers Inspiron 13 5368 2-in-1. I have exhausted all my ideas.
The audio is fine through plugged in headset but through system speakers it starts loud and fades away to very faint audio coming from two speakers.Could this be some type of Auto volume control? This problem exists with ITunes with local media, DIRECTV, Slacker, YouTube.
This has existed through several W10 upgrades. I am on the latest W10. No updates available. I have used Dell Auto Update and verified through the website no other drivers are missing or outdated
With the deal Audio I restored to default, disabled equalizer, audio and microphone enhancement. No luck
I have removed audio devices from device manager rebooted to same results. Any other ideas?

Dell Auto Update you're referring to is Dell Support Assist? If no, I suggest you diagnose Audio with Dell Support Assist. Most Dell systems have Support Assist pre-installed. You can check by typing Support Assist onto [Cortana] search box or right click windows logo and then click on 'Programs & Features'. If Support Assist isn't installed on system then I suggest you click on the link below and stroll down to 'Download Now'.

I have no applications running at all in Windows. I have the system sound muted, but I still have some sound coming out of the speakers. It sounds like some talk radio. I also have all networking disabled. I have no idea where this is coming from.

How can I tell if any process on my computer is accessing the sound drivers?

Answer:Solved: computer sound muted but sound is still coming from speakers

In some cases, if the speakers are cheaply made and not sheilded, they can acutally pickup radio waves (especially if you live near a radio tower). Does the "Talk radio" continue if the speakers are on, while the computer is off?

I am getting a laptop. Right now I am deciding between regular "High Definition Audio 2.0" and a "ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Laptop Sound Card with Wireless Receiver Bundle". The latter is 134 dollars more. Would the latter make the output of sound better on external speakers. Say if you're a DJ, and you use the laptop, would the sound coming out of the speakers at those high volumes be much better if you have the better soundcard? Or does it not have any effect on the output sounds? Thanks!

I know many people here have the same problem but till now I have not found any solution.
My soundcard is a Realtek. After reinstalling Windows 7 I have no sound out from my headphones while I have some from my speakers.

As soon as I connect the headphones, the Realtek manager appears and I choose headphone but if I press the "Test" button there is no sound and no sound if I play music.
Any des/re-installation of the drivers does not fix.

I have to mention that my headphones work perfectly with Ubuntu. So the jack entry is good.
In "Playback devices" from the sound control icon, the "Speakers" entry has "Set default" in grey.

Thanks a lot for any help.

Regards.

Answer:Satellite C660 - No sound from headphones but sound from speakers - Win7

> As soon as I connect the headphones, the Realtek manager appears and I choose headphone but if I press the "Test" button there is no sound and no sound if I play music.

Go to Control Panel -> Realtek HD audio manager

Here you should see the tab ?speakers?. Click on the yellow folder sign in the right upper corner.
Ensure that the option ?disable front panel jack detection? is NOT checked.
Furthermore check the option at the bottom called ?Enable auto popup dialog???
[Realtek HD audio manager screenshot|https://itpendium.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/14-realtek-hd-audio-manager-big.jpg]

By the way: in control panel -> sound -> playback tab click right and mark the two options ?show disabled devices?, ?show hidden devices??
Now you should also see the headphones jack. In case it was disabled, you could make it active.

Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit. I finally got video and sound to come out both the mobo and the NVidia video/HDMI card.
MOBO is Foxconn G41MXE. Sound system on mobo is NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition audio Controller, by Intel.
Video Card is GeForce GTX 550 Ti, with NVidia GF116 High Definition Audio Controller. Video card has HDMI output
connected to TV set, containing both video and sound. (Video from NVidia goes to both monitor and TV.)
Windows 8.1 with all updated drivers, as far as i know, based on two driver update apps. In Windows, there is
a significant delay between the audio coming from the mobo sound to the local speakers and the sound out of the
TV set. In PCLinuxOS on the same machine, there is hardly any delay. It is thus painful to watch a movie or a Youtube performance with any kind of speech or singing on Windows, due to the lack of lip-sync.
I need to know of there is a fix for this, and if so, where do I find it, or can somebody please post it here?

Thanx for your assistance--doug

Answer:mobo sound and HDMI sound not synced in Windows 8.1

You are using two separate "sound cards" (chips) at the same time (one in the Video Card and one on the motherboard). The processing in the chip can cause a delay or out of sync. Windows is designed to only have one default audio playback device. Circumventing that can cause problems, such as you hear.
