I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a laptop running Win 7 64bit, and a G class network adapter.
I notice that when I stream HD home movies to my Panasonic smart TV (wirelessly) from my laptop, the video although very clear, is very jerky and is barely watchable.
My wireless adsl router is an N class router. (Sagem 2504n)
Now, I presume that in order to have my streaming content running smoothly through a wireless connection, then I will need a dual band router, and presumably a dual band wireless usb adapter on my laptop.
I don't want to use cables for network connections, so will just rely on a wireless interface.
Do I really need a dual band USB adapter when streaming from my laptop through a dual band router?
Again, I presume I do, to prevent any bottlenecks?

Also, what about when I stream my HD videos from my smart phone to the TV. I'm not sure if the phone would then be the bottleneck, as I think it has an N class adapter. Currently, the phone HD videos are again very jerky when streamed to the TV.

What router (ADSL Dual Band Router) is recommended for this purpose. Or do I just buy a media hub instead?

Questions, questions.....

Any advice as to the best way to get my HD videos streaming from either my mobile phone and or my laptop to the smart TV, would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi All!
I work for a college and we have recently started recording the BBC Bytesize programs using a PC equipped with a PVR WinTV card. It stores about 4hrs of video in a 2.5gb file (which I didn't think was too bad)!
At the end, we are hoping to store all the video (around 50hrs) on our server to hopefully be streamed around the network, but there seem to be so many options to choose from at this point.
For example, what is the best file type to use (*.mov, *.mpg, DivX) etc etc. Also, would it be risky having a whole classroom (15 users) view this data all at the same time in term of bandwidth usage or should we just play it safe and only give teachers access to the footage to be shown through the projectors.
Any help, hints and tips in the world of video streaming will be appreciated! Is there anything I should be looking out for too?

Thank you in advance
Nick

Hello all, I wish to pick your brains please :)I am wanting to set up a video and audio distribution network in the house.I would like to have a central server with all the video and audio on which is accessible from may be as many as 10 or 12 seperate zone computers. Will it be possible to employ a gigabite network and be able to listen and watch several films and sound tracks in different zones at the same time from the central server? Is this a matter of employing user friendly interface software which will enable you to scroll through menus on the zone computers to pick the tracks/ films from the server? Obviously the hardware spec should be good to any suggestions for server and zone computer spec if its feasible. If I wished to use each of the zone computers for surfing and normal pc word processing etc would it make sense to dual boot and partition them with say media centre for if you wish to use the entertainment network and maybe xp for surfing to try to avoid conflicts? Please offer all advice possible I am sure this should be possible but would need to get a techy to help me set it up but am still a bit unsure if it would work or if their are other observations to be made.

Answer:Video, Audio streaming network

10 - 12 "zone"/client computers? Are you setting up a video-viewing shop? The critical aspect will be your server's ability to service so many clients concurrently, with a worse case scenario of all of them wanting to access the same video or audio file/track.Your client computers configuration can be standard; Media Centre is essentially XP Pro with extra GUI modules integrated, so either will do.I don't know what exactly you would want such a setup for, but I can't see what extra benefits dual-boot capability will give your client PCs.It depends what level of service you intend to provide each client computer ~ the optimum would be the ability to have separate partitions with server based software handling the load balancing and masses of memory so particular files which are in high demand are left resident in memory. As you are struggling with XP/Media Centre for the client PCs already, the server side is going to be a lot more complex (and costly). There simply will not be enough space even in this forum, to reasonably "offer all advice possible".

Hey everyone! Happy holidays

I got a 3tb hard drive to store all my movies that are split between 5 other hard drives as of now, and i'd love to be able to hook it up to stream them over my entire network (including PS4)

I have a DLINK DIR-820L dual band router with a USB port that says it's a "SharePort", which has so far worked on my two computers but not on the PS4. And this method is overall crappy since i have to sign on to a webpage and watch the movies from there, which is really weird since my router is secure and i don't want to have to sign in with a user and password every time i want to watch something. Not to mention it doesn't work at all on the PS4.

Basically i'm looking for a way to hook up the 3tb Hard Drive so i can watch anything on the drive from both my laptops, my desktop and my PS4. All the guides i've searched for online give me the same generic information and none of it helps.

I've had the networking active and working with the hard drive hooked up to my desktop, and made a homegroup or whatever to share between computers. But that leaves out the PS4, which is the only non-wirelss device in the chain (it's plugged directly into the router)

Can i network everything through the USB port on the router without using the "SharePort" software? Or can i network everything through a homegroup like i had before, with access for my PS4?

This is so confusing, if anyone can help i... Read more

Okay HardForum, I need your help troubleshooting the bottleneck in my network.

The Basic problem is this; I am getting choppy video streaming from server to my wireless
laptop in the next room. Media player Classic is pretty bad, VCL player clears it up a
little, but still pauses to buffer a couple of times for a 350 MB file that is less than an hour in length.

Can I fix this w/o using a wired connection?
What are the limitations of Wireless G networks?
What/where is the bottleneck in the network?

A more detailed description:

Here is my setup.
Router:
Linksys WRT300N v1.1 running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) mega.

Stream From:
Windows XP Desktop
Intel P4 3.4GHZ
2GB Ram
5400RPM Hard drive
10/100Mbps Realtek RTL8139 NIC
(no wireless card)

Stream To:
Windows XP laptop
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.4GHZ
2GB Ram
NVIDIA Geforce 8400M GS
Hard Drive 4500RPM
Dell Wireless 1390 WLan Mini-Card (wireless G)
I don't have a wireless N adapter for the laptop

Here is an example to illustrate what I am seeing on my end. I am streaming a 349 MB
video file from my server to my laptop with a run time of 48 minutes 12 second. With
Media Player Classic I see stuttering(frame jumps) and stoppage(video stops for .5-1.5s)
right away during the introduction. With VCL player I see 3-4 stoppages due to buffering
interspersed throughout the duration of the video. (More so in the evening see below)

Answer:Problem Streaming Video through a wireless G Network

1st up, I`d have said the 5400rpm drive in the WinXP box with the realtek 8139 NIC, then I saw the chart with the Channel saturation. Surely channel 3 would be better for you with only 2x users either side!?

1st off, skip that realtek card, I`d use a decent quality Intel for replacement, done this myself recently and saw quite a noticeable increse in throughput.

2nd, maybe try running a cable to rule out the wireless side of things (if it`s still somewhat choppy it`s the server side hardware, if it cures it it`s almost certainly the popularity of wireless G in your area).

That is quite some use of the limited bandwidth allocated for wireless G, if you want to be naughty, set your location (Router GUI) to one other than yours and see if you can sneak onto one of the channels not normally available to you to see if that helps, not recomended though.

Lastly it`s time to upgrade the antennae on your router or better still, upgrade your router to a dual band one with wireless G and N if your laptop supports N that is.

Sorry just re-read your post, you don`t have N capability on your laptop.

Looks like your only options are, in order of cost (cheapest 1st(maybe))

1) run a cable (kinda defeats the whole point of having a latop though)
2) use directional antennae on your router (again you`d be kinda limited to where you can use it)

I have just noticed that there is one signal stronger than yours in the graph, "Looksea" are you closer to that AP th... Read more

I have two windows 7 computers connected to my router and one laptop with Win7 connected wirelessly, also WinVista 64bit connected to router.
Anytime I watch a movie through the network, it constantly stops and buffers. At least I assume its buffering.
I use VLC player and I've never had this problem until I switched up to Windows 7.

Is there any known issues with this type of problem. I can't find anything on Google

Thanks for any info
Dwayne

Answer:streaming video constantly buffering over network

The first obvious (potential) issue is the firewall. Chances are, your router has the firewall enabled on it, you'll need to login to it to check; enter your default gateway (probably something like 192.168.1.1) into a browser. If that doesn't check out, determine what port(s) VLC wants to use and check the Windows firewall by going into Control Panel > System & Security > Windows Firewall and allow VLC access.

Hi AllFirstly I hope I have posted this in the right place, if not please accept my apologies.I am about to embark on the purchase of a new desktop and relevant accessories in order to create a wireless network at home. I?m also changing my ISP (currently AOL).The problem I?ve got isa) My networking knowledge is less than zero and the thought of all this fills me with dread.b) I am now so overwhelmed with technical jargon etc. that I am now extremely confused as to what I actually need to purchase.Basically, I would like to have my new desktop in my office upstairs and this will be connected to a wireless router (somehow?)I would then like to connect my old desktop to this network so that my kids can have a pc to do their school projects with etc. (what kit will help me do this? ? currently this pc does not have any network cards it does have a modem and I have been connecting to the internet using a BT Voyager 100 ADSL router)I then need to connect my laptop from anywhere in the house to this little network when I get home to get my emails etc. (My laptop has wireless capability already and an Ethernet cable port)I also then need to choose the correct kit from the potential ISP so I don?t duplicate things.I don?t know what kit to buy in order to achieve all of this so if someone could help me sort through all this, I would be very grateful. Many thanks Hayden

I have Vista home premium and being a new user I am facing a lot of issues.

1) My internet keeps on disconnecting (will rather call it an interruption as I don't need to manually reconnect). I don't have problems in browsing but this interruption (for some seconds) generally disconnects me from any server I am connected to. For Eg. Texas holdem poker on Facebook / Bridge base online / Hamachi ..etc etc..I am having problems playing any game online (.. I tried a laptop having XP and it worked fine so I am quite sure this is not a network problem.

2) I am unable to watch online streaming which is played on wmp. I have installed the add-on (firefox) for it but then also it isn't able to play it. The internet explorer just crashes when I tried to play it on it. I can watch Youtube/ Metacafe videos.

3) Another issue is the loading of Java applet. I have installed the latest Sun java JRE 1.6.0_07.

Someone please help a newbie..

I have Verizon ADSL (static ip) with a decent upload/download speed. I would like to be able to access my home network remotely (i.e. connect to a shared folder on a media PC or print a document or just access some documents on a server). What do I need exactly?

VPN router? If so, what model do you recommend?

As for the laptop - what software do I need on the laptop? This is for my laptop only, which is running WinXP Pro. Do I just go to NETWORK CONNECTIONS > ADD NEW CONNECTION and just do a VPN-type dialer?

This my 1st time setting it up and would love to learn about it a little more. Also, does Verizon (or any ISP, for that matter) block and/or prohibit accessing my own network remotely? If so, should I call them?

Thanks!

SSL VPN FTW!

For a excellent example, try SSL-Explorer. Free to try for 30 days. Lots of money after that. Unfortunately they just went closed source, and the community is still trying to get a grip on the new fork.

No client need. Just a browser and java.

Hello tenforums members,
I upgraded my Lenovo U310 laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 a week ago. Everything seems to have upgraded successfully. The only problem that I can find is that none of the video streaming from Windows 10 apps can be played. I get an error 'Unsupported video type or invalid file path' when I click on a video article in USA Today or when I try to stream video from any other apps, NBC News, MSN Money, etc... from Windows 10 store.

I have no issue streaming videos from any of the browser though. What could be missing that could cause video streaming to fail? I would appreciate any suggestions or comments. Thanks.

Hi,
I was able to resolve the issue by disabling all hardware enhancements for Conexant Smartaudio HD. Here are the steps I took to resolve it, in case someone else runs into the same frustrating problem as I did: Right click on the speaker icon on the lower right hand corner -> Playback Devices -> Disable all hardware enhancements -> OK -> Reboot. That's it!

I recently installed Windows Service Pack 2, actually three times after reinstating my computer software to the original state by erasing and reinstalling the full software install CD on my computer's hard drive for Window XP Home. I have no problems playing games with my new FX 5200 Ultra video card by BFG, but I am at random times getting the annoying green screen that blanks out my videos I am streaming or playing(happens when I am streaming more often). Then after that happens usually, the computer reboots or shuts off. I never had this happen before. My computer's memory tests ok so why can I play games with this never happening but when I am streaming or watching video through Windows Media Player, etc do I get the "green screen blankout" and then often the shutdown of my computer? I have 512 MB of system memory and 128 MB of video memory! I use System Mechanic and it shows I have at least half of my memory even during playback so what is the problem here? I can attach my system computer file of my information if you like in an e-mail if it will help. AND YES I HAVE THE DIVX CODECS. I thought about that to and uninstalled and reinstalled them with the same random problems. PLEASE HELP ME. This is really annoying.

Answer:video playback and streaming. Video card problem or software?

Well, it seems u dont have a hardware problem. this problem occurs only when u r watching videos. so i guess its the media player. take my suggestion, stop using it. Download this pack: KLite Codec Pack. I think the latest version is 3.2. Its got all the codecs u need to play compressed videos, and dvds. Its also got an advanced media player which can play any video u open it with like wmv, dat, mpg, rm, mov, avi, divx..... of course, the codecs for these formats r included in the pack.

I have a customer that wants to do an in-house streaming video server with 5 big screens to show videos, slide shows, POS promo type stuff.

They said they don't mind wiring up a dedicated network for this use to avoid flooding their existing network with the video traffic.

Just looking for suggestions from you guys who have done this type of project on video appliances or video servers and the hardware to connect the 5 screens.

This has been happening on and off ever since I started with Win 10 and its always very annoying .

System just hangs, no error message, no bsod, just complete freeze and loud hum.

I cant say I can remember having issues watching youtube videos, its the streaming of live content such as filmon. Sometimes I can watch filmon for days and not have the issue and then randomly it will start again. Today I was watching hypermole playing on twitch tv (live) and it just happened. Getting tired of it.
I can also report having all my video content display as a green screen after using hyper v although that may be totally unrelated.

As far as I am aware, I'm using the latest drivers for my graphics, I always try update everything. I have attached the log files as requested.

Hi m1a1t,

Welcome to the 10forums

I'm not a specialist when it comes to freeze problems, but I do have a tip (or 2 when talking about reverting back the changes)
IObit software is known for causing problems, I would highly recommend that you remove it and revert back the changes it made when it comes to drivers.
DB3 may install corrupted or the wrong drivers what may cause problems,Malwarefighter is IMHO garbage,Advanced SystemCare may cause more harm than good
About the uninstall program I can't tell you anything, because I have no experience with it and I prefer to keep it that way.

Is there a way in which, other than staying up all night, I can record the programmes either on line or on FM, rather like what people do with programmable video recorders (I am not into videos)? Hello everyone, I wonder if any of you can help me or have had a similar problem. I bought a Lenovo Ideacentre K430 Desktop PC (Intel Core i7 3770 3.4GHz Processor, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD, DVD, LAN, WLAN, Nvidia Graphics, Windows 8)  two months ago via Amazon and on the whole have been very pleased with it. However I have had a major problem when it comes to streaming video. For example, when watching TV programmes via BBC iPlayer it will stop after about 45 secs and say that there is insufficient bandwith.  Yet, when I run the BBC diagnostic it says the streaming speed is 3621 kbps and is sufficient.  (I have two laptops in the house and both of these stream video without any problems).  I also have the same problem when streaming video from other websites.  When using websites generally they seem to load quickly and also when downloading items it seems to do these jobs at a good speed: it is just when streaming it seems to have a problem and stops. I have even switched the K430 desktop to an ethernet cable to see if that helps - but the problem still persists. All the other devices in the house, i.e. iPhone, Wii, laptop all stream via the wi-fi without any problems. I'm not that technical , so any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. many thanks, Matt

hi Pikemonster,

Welcome to the Forums.

Just to verify, do you get the same issue if you stream via flash player using i.E., Chrome, or Firefox?

Also, have you tried to adjust the video quality (i.e. medium, low, etcl)

Hello.I've discovered a UK website called click here by which I can stream 'live' tv programmes similar to freeview directly to my computer.I've just watched 'Flog It' on BBC 2 and it was a great picture at 4.3. I also watched an action scene from 'Voyager' on Virgin also at 4.3 and this wasn't so great.I have Tiscali for my broadband & phone and am very lucky to get a speed of 6.5 to 7.0mbps. My question is very simple. Is there any way to improve the overall picture quality a little to stop the blurring and fuzziness of the action scenes please?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you very much.

Answer:Help Needed With 'Live' Streaming UK TV Website.

You might have a lot of background tasks running. One thing I have found that helps is a free bit of software called Advanced System Care. (click here)Part of this program is called 'Game Booster', which stops unneccessary background tasks.Could be worth a try.

Hello. I am trying to watch live video on nbcolympics.com. When I load a video, the advertisement comes up and plays, then when the streaming loads, the video goes black, but I can hear the audio .

Any suggestions? I'm running an intel i7 on Win7 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 58XX graphics card. I have tried upgrading my drivers, to no avail...

Answer:Solved: Streaming Video - Audio, no Video

I found the solution on another website - disabling hardware acceleration by right clicking on the video and going to 'settings' resolves this issue. Then the browser needs to be restarted.

Apparently its a fairly common problem with the current Flash build.

I've had my current rig for a couple years now, but recently did a clean install of Vista Home Premium x64. I was previously runnin x86 with no major networking problems. I use my Xbox 360 as a media center extender but because most of my video files are divx/xvid I use TVersity as a transcoder. Since intalling x64 my network adapter would freeze and disconnect while streaming a video to my Xbox. Thinking it was a problem with TVersity I decided to use my original Xbox to play the files. Unfortunately when FTPing to my Xbox I had the same problem- the network adapter would hang and only recover after a hard reboot. It also caused my primary processor core to max out at 100% but there was no process or service shown to still be utilizing the processor. I have tried both IE7 and SmartFTP to rule out a software issue and have used both a network connection w/ router and a direct crossover cable to rule out the router as a problm. I use BitDefender but have also tried it with my firewall turned off. Have updated all the relevant drivers and messed around with the NIC speed & duplex settings with no avail. Specs are as follows, please help!

Question: Streaming Video

Hello,

I've been asked to get the following working but so far am stumped. Apparently it was working at one time (before I started here) and they want it to work again.

One of our clients, whose website we host and have done development on, has a live webcam that they want to provide access to from their site. They are running Windows NetMeeting on that computer and all works well when you connect using Windows NetMeeting.

But what they want is to have a link which would launch Windows Media Player and display the video stream through that.

Thank you for your help.

Question: Streaming video

Hey every one,

I'm on a 56k modem and not by choice. Well, I want to watch this video thats on the internet but my only choice is to stream it. Which it is very diffiuclt to stream video with a 56k modem phone line.

So when you get to the web site it provides a link to the video, then when you click on it, it pop ups another window and plays the video. Theres no way for me to actually right click "save target as" or right click "save link as" ect.

Got any ideas on how to save this video on my hard drive?

bigk

Answer:Streaming video

Streaming media is often already on your hard drive after you've watched it as it is downloaded to your 'temp internet files' folder.
Before you have a look I would empty this folder first as it gets full fast so would make finding/identifying the file a little harder. View the folder contents by details and sort by file size, it should be near the top somewhere if it's there.

Question: streaming video

How do I improve quality of videos that I watch on the computer, or say, logging on cbs' site to watch clips of tv programs? They always seem to be somewhat distorted. Would the latest version of direct x help?

Answer:streaming video

Hiya

yep, it would. Also, and this is just a maybe as some sites are getting more involved, you might want DivX:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/downloads/default.asp

http://www.divx.com/divx/

Also, you will want to improve your browser speed:

Go to Tools | Internet Options. General tab. Under Delete Files, delete offline content. Also, clear the History.

Content tab, under AutoComplete, clear Forms and Passwords.

Advanced tab, under Browsing, look for Enable Insta on Demand. Untick.
Under Security, look for Empty Tempory Internet... Tick.
Apply and OK

Go to Find Files and type in cookie. When found, open the folder, and delete all the cookies found. You won't be able to delete the .dat file found.

For this, go here and get the Spider:

http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?threadid=55214&highlight=Spider

Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Copy/paste the list here.

Also, go here and download AddAware

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Download and run, ensuring that Deep Registry scan is enabled. Remove all except any references to Web3000 or new.net. If you're unsure, copy/paste the list here.

Also, whilst you're there, download and install RefUpdate to get the latest updates. Just click Connect.

Hello,

I'm sure that the vast majority of you will consider this a dumb question, but here goes. I'm running Windows XP and I use IE 7.0 as my browser. I also have AOL. When I'm in AOL, I can get the CNN live streaming video (for instance, I can view the current Court TV trial in progress). I get this by entering the appropriate web address for CNN live feed on the address bar on the AOL screen. As far as I can tell, it's the Adobe Flash reader that brings up the video, and it works fine.

The problem is, that when I just go to my desktop (without logging onto AOL) and launch IE, then enter the same address into the address bar for CNN live, I get nothing. It just sits there and I get no error message, but nothing happens. Every other site that I enter from the IE address bar works fine.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

Thanks,
Louis

There is no software that I'm aware of to speed up video buffering and if someone claims that their software will speed it up they are lying. Video streaming is dependent on your system, video board, and internet connection. If you're here to post SPAM, I would not suggest it. Question: streaming video's

Hi folks,
I was wondering if there is a simple way (that is, without using a prog) to keep a streaming video on my hard drive. For example, if I want to keep, say a trailer from a movie, after viewing it with quicktime, I go to temp. internet files, find it and just save it to my hard drive. I tried this with a streaming video ( If you must know, I was downloading the transformers, I'm a sucker for classic cartoons )and it wasn't in temps, so I was wondering, am I missing something ?

I thank you all in advance,

Question: Streaming Video

I like to view music videos on a site called Launch.com. I have a high-speed cable connection (advertised at 500 kbs). Lately, when I try to view videos at the highest speed available (the site lets you stream at various speeds), there are pauses in the video, no video at all and sometimes breaks and pauses in the audio as well. Here are my questions:

Are there problems with Launch.com? Is their server gagging trying to keep up with the traffic? (remember--this used to work just fine until a month or two ago).

I have Norton AntiVirus and update it daily. There are no issues here. I'm not behind a firewall, no issue here either. Is there something I can change in IE5.5 to change the buffering (or is it cache) for streaming? If so, how?

My carrier is Charter Pipeline. Does anybody out there have problems with streaming multi-media using Charter?

Can somebody else go to Launch.com, watch a video at 300 kbs and tell me if they have the same problem?

Answer:Streaming Video

Ran a video Janet Jackson at 300kb windows media through Road Runner cable with no problems. You may try removing all but systray and explorer through the crtl, alt, del, end task and see if that helps. If it does not you may have to take a look at what is running in background using msconfig and see if there is anything you can cut back on to free up resources.

Not sure if this should be under tips since it isn't a problem post, but I thought I'd better fit under the Games section =D. This is how to stream video from your computer to your Wii over a network! Since Wii uses the Opera browser, it has flash support built into. Orb can convert avi, mpeg, etc into flash on the fly. The quality is not 100%, but just the fact that you're able to do it seemed kinda cool to me.

1) Download the trail web browser on the Wii
2) Install Orb on host PC, http://orb.com/
3) Uninstall any code packs and install each codec indvidually, http://support.orb.com/support/solution.jsp?sol=144
4) Reset
5) Set up user name and shared folders in Orb
6) Log into mycast.orb.com on with Wii browser and stream away!

If your videos are freezing on the first frame and audio keeps playing, try this reghack:

Taken from http://forum.orb.com/
Open regedit on the PC where Orb is installed.
In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE..Software..Orb Networks..Orb..OrbStreamer you will find a "HQFlash" key with value 1. Delete this key and restart Orb.
For information this key sets Orb to encode in Flash using a better quality codec whenever possible, and this codec might not be compatible with the Wii Flash version. Removing this key will default to a lesser quality encoder which is more likely to be compatible.

Answer:Streaming video help

Hi arahod

I'd expect one of your Internet Options settings is in conflict with what the sites you wish to play videos from require. You can take a look at the settings a typical site needs to play videos & try those settings (we'll use the New York Times as an example --- http://www.nytimes.com/ref/membercen...imediaqa9.html ). Another strategy is to add the sites from which you often view videos to your trusted sites (in the Security tab of Internet Options).

If you feel your favorite media player is at fault, check in EventViewer to see if any errors are showing in the logs that happen at the same time your video fails to play [Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools/EventViewer].

...and, of course, since this is a brand-new machine, you can contact eMachines to see if there are any problems specific to your model.

Best of luck
. . . Gary

I have an issue with streaming hi res video on hulu. On standard res... no problem. However when I switch to hi res, the video was constantly pausing and starting again... like it was buffering. Now I have a good internet speed. 16meg down 2 meg up. I updated my video drivers and that did make a noticeable improvement. Now the picture just seems to be slightly off... like a low frame rate perhaps... not as smooth as it should be in playback. This is an old computer so perhaps the hardware is not up to the task. I am running a 2.5gig pentium 4 with 1 gig memory on windows xp and the video card is a radeon 9800 pro. Do I need a faster machine for streaming hi res video or is there another approach I can take to solve this problem.

Question: streaming video

Apparently I know even less about this than I thought I did. If I can watch a TV show on my computer screen, how can I record it - either as data to burn to a disc or on an adjacent VHS machine. I can get the audio out the speaker jacks, but how about the video. Can I get it (or both video and audio) through a USB jack? What minimal software might I need.? I don't plan to do this on a large scale, but I missed something with my TiVo andI'd like to watch something that will available for only a few more days. Would appreciate any help and advice -- also about downloading movies. What should I read?

Thanks,

John Farris

Answer:streaming video

Chances are pretty good that the kind of stuff you're looking to record is protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) meaning it's not recordable. There are programs that claim to record DRM protected videos but none of them work. I am assuming you're talking about something like Hulu as opposed to Youtube.

hello outkast82889,

now what i need to do is go to your (device manager)

now once there you will want to select from the toolbar of the window(veiw) then a drop down menu / from it you will select (show all hidden devices)

now if you see any (red or yellow) quotation marks , make a note of what they

now go to the (event veiwer) this is thru the (administrator tools) in the control panel
here you will find 3 to 4 subcatagories

you will want to check each of them for this is where windows keeps track of all errors
now you will want to make notes of the errors that have been recorded ( you do not have to make notes of double entries just of the dates of their happenings & how many there is)
you will get more information on the errors if you (right) click them / then select properties

then get back to us

However, one of my friends convinced me that streaming videos doesn't take much bandwidth; my bro disagrees. I'm somewhat concerned because I have streamed a looot; more than I should have, and I am wondering if anyone has some idea about how much bandwidth I am using.

I got into the habit of listening to music videos while I do school

Question: Video streaming

I have Windows 7 on my desk PC. I live in a country area and streaming videos is a slow job. I`ve tried all the suggested improvements but it is still bad with repeated buffering.     My question is, is it possible to download (time is not a factor) and then view at a later time without the stop and start buffering?I know that on some streaming there is a grey strip that precedes the main download bit on the download progression line but not very often.  I would not have thought it was a difficult software project.

Answer:Video streaming

Hi Respigi, which streaming site are you downloading the videos from. Naming the website will be best to know the perfect solution for you.Try Internet Download Manager, its features like "Automatically start downloading of URLs placed on Clipboard" and the "Grabber" functionalityhelps to get files of choice.

Hi folks, I have a fairly new Dell XPS/windows7/Laptop. I've had it for about three months with no problems. My luck just ran out. No streaming videos work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Adobe Flash and the latest version of Java script. I've disabled my firewall and everything else I know what to do. This problem is in both Firefox and I.E. both which I have the latest versions of. Can anyone help? Thank you in adavance.

Answer:Need help...Streaming Video

just to test, try downloading and see if it works. Chrome automatically manages the flash so it will install automatically and update automatically by the browser. If this works, then maybe it's just firefox and IE's problem. If not, maybe something on your computer is problematic.

Question: No Streaming Video

I have a balky computer that has a hard time navigating to websites, downloading, or following links. Nearly all scans by malware detectors are impossible as are updates to existing software. I first noticed that we could not view an entire music video and now we usually don't get through the ad that precedes most videos. After many tries I was finally able to run a PC-Cillin scan that found threee objects;Java_Bytever.BJ, Java_Bytever.dl and another that has an extension that I can't remember. On a subsequent scan it did not find any malware so I think that they are, somehow, now hidden. Spybot and Adaware gave me a clean bill of health also, but I could update neither of them before the scans. Here is HJT scan:

Question: Streaming Video

Does anybody know how to take streaming video from a website and save it as a regular video file that you can watch anytime without being on the internet? I am talking about Windows Media Player streaming video. Thanks.

Answer:Streaming Video

Sure.
There are freeware programs that can record video and audio files.
You can search Google - don't use any myself. Maybe something like this...
record streaming video freeware -shareware -trial

I'm looking for some software that will enable me to broadcast low bitrate streaming video.

I've looked around the MS Windows Media site but i'm not sure what to get. I want something that uses WMP but is relatively version independent (I use 6.4, clients wil use allsorts!).

Basically I want to stream live video from my TV card to a WMP client.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Tried youtube and several other tubes, very little will play. Reinstalled flash player, no effect. Turned off my firewall, no effect.I'm using a NetGear router with built in firewall. It's set to allow anything/always so shouldn't be blocking, but it might be.I can't find out what ports to open for streaming video.I also need to know how to set McAffee firewall to allow youtume.com access to the net?Can anyone help.

Answer:Streaming video won't come down

I don`t think the Netgear router can be the problem: I have one and access YouTube videos OK.Never having used McAfee firewall, I cannot comment. I use ZoneAlarm pro which has been set not to block YouTube.

Question: Streaming Video

Hi All

For the life of me i cant get streaming to work from windows 7 to Xbox 360.

In the old days using XP i would stream direct to Xbox 360 using WMP, easy as with no porblems.

Now i cant seem to get any sharing working through wmp12, i have shared everyone and everything, spent numreous hours trying to get it to work with no luck.

i use PS# media server which works but the video is choppy and stops.
Media Centre is even worse, i cant even watch 5 seconds before is stops and buffs.

I know enough about computers to know i am going crazy trying to figure this out.. if anyone is willing to help pl email and i will greatly appriciate it.

I would even remote access etc if that would help.

thank you
Michael

I'm setting up a new W7 laptop using OpenDNS. I can get some YouTube videos to stream but others just report a problem. Likewise I can get iPlayer to show some Tv programmes but ITV Player won't. I've whitelisted YouTube and ITV Player without solving the problem. I'm using the latest K-Lite Codecs. Any ideas where I should be looking to solve the problem?

Answer:Video not streaming

Much to my surprise I've had to allow social networking on OpenDNS to make ITV Player work. It's also allows some (but not all) of the YouTube videos to stream.

Hi, and thanks in advance for looking into this post.

For some months my network has been unstable and very edgy, sometimes flippin all over the place and then tried restarting router/modem and let be off up to a day or two. My pc has ethernet cabel connections so no wireless on my stationary pc, but the exact problem is not this. Called my net-provider and asked in their support for solutions, they said after a while that it was cause of hard uploading on my line and that it maxed out all the time, making it unstable and fragile (I pay for 16 Mbit/s down and 0,75 Mbit/s up. Usually get around 12,5 Mbit/s down and 0,67 Mbit/s up). So further on I got myself net limiter to limit my pc to 0,7 Mbit/s up so it never can go higher. But still I experience unstable line though.

So with this background of the internet speed and such, the question here is why I stream so poorly on my local connection? I active use netflix and very often the video has to pause and load, and then continue. Whenever I use my Ipad for example, it nearly never has to load, I just start the video and begin watching. And this streams through wireless. So my mind can't comprehend why the Ipad streams better and faster then my pc with local connection. I use the Mozilla Firefox browser most often on my PC to stream, but get same result in Opera (slow loading time). Any answers why I get this problem?

As of this week I am unable to watch video at nbc.com. I am able to watch nbc programs on hulu - wouldn't they be the same file type? cbs, comedycentral and youtube all work fine. I noticed that one of the videos was shockwave so I downloaded a new version but that didn't correct the problem. nbc's site doesn't address this or offer help to users so I'm hoping someone can advise me.
I use Firefox, and may have downloaded some updates, but not a new version.
I had a little trouble with Bitdefender last week , but it isn't interfering with any other streaming video sources so I don't suspect it's the problem. (but what do I know?)
Thanks, V

I just went to NBC.com on Internet Exploror and their videos worked fine. Maybe you can try IE? Also, IF you do NOT live in America, some websites restrict access from outside America. I know MTV Overdrive does that.

Question: video streaming

Hi

I am trying to watch some video streams, my computer plays them but after about 5 minutes it stops working and the when I move the mouse there are pink strips appear on the screen and the colours are not right.

Also if I try to convert video after a short time, anything from a few seconds to a few minutes everything on the screen freezes inluding the mouse. I normally use AVS video converteer but have tried others and other videos but it still freezes.

I am using windows 7 and ie11, 2GB ram. AMD athlon64 X2 3GHZ

Answer:video streaming

Sounds like the PC is overheating. Video conversion will typically use 100% of the cpu, thus generating heat. When was the last time the PC was cleaned of dust and dirt?

Doe anyone know of any good software we can use to stream high quality video (preferably MPEG) over the Internet? We have a high speed line, and a very high quality camera.

Thanks a lot,
Dan

Answer:Video Streaming (HELP!)

Most NLE's have rendering codecs built in that will allow you to render in many different formats. If its MPEG you want, just capture your video, then encode to MPEG-- and you are good to go. You willl need a place to host your files because they tend to be big and not conducive to emailing.

Question: streaming video

hello,
How can i download streaming video from a website on to my computer? Instead of the video passing through a buffer, i want to store it on my hard drive... how can i do this?!?!?!?!

Answer:streaming video

In alot of instances you can't because they purposefully setup the webpage code and delivery method of the video so you can't download the file. About all you can do is right click on the video link and then select "Save Target As". Depending on how the page and delivery method is setup, you may or may not actually get a video file. You have to try it and see.

Question: Video Streaming

Hi,

I wonder if anybody have this same problem but sometimes when I am streaming web tv all I see is a jumble of colors. I get some tv stations fine (so that rules out there being something wrong with my PC doesn't it?)but there are always some stations where I can't get anywhere with. All there is is the sound is there fine but I am seeing only shapes of people and things. And colors!!! Its like I am seeing them giving off heat signatures in some kind of thermal imaging device.

It happens when I am using media player as well as when I am streaming directly from the station web pages.

I am wondering if it have anything to with flash player technology/quicktime? I haven't installed quicktime though I doubt its absence affects performance of general tv/video streaming, or could it?

And what is codecs anyway?
