Yellow triangle and exclamation mark.

Question: Yellow triangle and exclamation mark.

The internet on my laptop has stopped working from time to time and a yellow triangle with an exclamation point goes on top of the internet icon on the bottom right. Now it has stopped working completely for about a week and hasnt come back like before. I use the same internet cord on my pc and Xbox and it works fine, just not my laptop. What can I do?

Please, if you know, try to explain it to me as if I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing at all lol... I'm not that good with the names of hardware or software.

Preferred Solution: Yellow triangle and exclamation mark.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Welcome to the forum Gibb94.

I don't have a laptop so don't know much about them but have you made sure that yours is turned on for Wi-Fi, I believe there is usually a switch somewhere perhaps you've managed to turn it off without realising it.

If you could post back with more details about your machine and how you connect to the Internet it would help the experts to give you more help, don't forget we can't see your machine and without details we don't have much to go on.

Answer:Exclamation mark in yellow triangle

Was there a yellow tri/exclamation mark in the pic from your link? I couldn't see one. A yellow triangle w/ a exclamation make is Windows way of telling you there is a problem with the devices it's with.

Hello,

First time posting here, but long time visitor.
I have a bit of a problem with what i assume is a windows network issue.

After I restart the pc, 9 times out of 10 i get a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark over my network icon. When i go over it, it says I'm connected to the network but i have "no internet access" EVEN THOUGH I'm online and i am able to browse the web and download freely.

I tried to troubleshoot it using the troubleshooter, but it doesn't find any issues.

I updated my drivers, and still nothing, i also have the latest bios version.

I tried asking on a couple other forums but it seems they are a bunch of amateurs...so i came here.

Any ideas how i can fix this?

Answer:Yellow triangle with exclamation mark over network

Hi Beowulf6666, Welcome to Seven Forums.

Go to Device Manager, uninstall all under 'Network adapters' BUT not the drivers. When done unplug your router, power off your pc, wait 30 seconds before starting router, when all lights show start your pc.

Hi everyone

I have not had much to do with web sites so please excuse my ignorance.

Just wondering if anyone could help me, I have been having problems with one web site, the only one, all others are fine, I have written to the company for help and they have only suggested things I have already done. (Answer I got back from first email to them) -

Thank you for reporting the recent issues you’ve had on SEEK.
The problem may be caused by the browser or Proxy server having an old cached file. In order to clear up the problem, please try the following:
- Please do a hard refresh, hold CTRL press F5 (or Command+R on a Mac)
- Allow the page to fully load before clicking any buttons (ie browser displays Done in the bottom left corner)

If this does not solve the problem please:

- Fully clear cookies and cache
- Close all browsers
- Open a new browser, return to SEEK. Hard refresh again if necessary.

Please advise us if this resolved your issue, or if you are still having problems.

I wrote back with more details and I have received no answer.

Searches on the net, have come up with similar errors but not the same situation at mine, so here goes.

Every time I go to www.seek.com.au (a job site) I get the yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the bottom left corner of the page, does not matter if I type the web address in the address bar, or if I click on the link in the favourites or do a Google search to get to this web site it has this triangle there. First time user of the forums; I really hope you can help me with this. I've never had such persistent spyware.

Symptoms are much the same as other users comments: constant internet explorer pop ups, pseudo "error messages" with rampant misspelling and the obnoxious yellow triangle with exclamation mark in toolbar that gives balloon popups that warn of, among other things, "black door trojans".
I've run adaware; Symantec antivirus seems to be incapacitated. I've since downloaded and installed Hijack this and the google update spyware doctor and am running them.
I'm listing my hijack this log below. ANY help would be appreciated; I'll certainly check back.

Answer:yellow triangle with black exclamation mark on my desktop

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

The report... Read more

Hi guys,

I have just noticed these 2 icons on ''My Computer'' page. A yellow triangle and a green circle.

I'm happy with the green circle, but the yellow triangle is annoying me.

I've had a look in device manager but no problems there, I've also looked in event viewer for errors but there is nothing wrong there either.

Any help would be great.

TIA

Answer:Yellow exclamation triangle

You could run a chkdsk /r as an administrator from the cmd prompt, but have a look in Action Center to see if anything is flagged.

Have you been using any tune-up programs or registry cleaners ?

Hi there,
A couple of days ago I saw am exclamation point in a yellow triangle in my system tray. When I click it, it goes away, but comes back again shortly. I ran my ANti Virus/malware software (Kaspersky) and it still exists. Any ideas to why this potential error message exists? I'm using an HP pavilion Desktop with XP Media Center SP3.

Hello and welcome. It does appear to be an infection so I am moving this from XP to Am I Infected. By error message you are referring thw the Triangle or are tou getting a message on screen.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):NOTE: Before saving MBAM please rename it to zztoy.exe....now save it to your desktop. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. Hi and welcome

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe.
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Occasionally in my taskbar a small yellow triangle with an exclamation point in the middles will appear. I can hover my cursor over it and nothing shows up, I can click (left or right,) on it and nothing will happen. Its as if it doesn't even exist. I have not noticed anything wrong with the system. The triangle does not flash or anything. i don't know if its a program I run that triggers this or what causes it to come. The only way I have found to get it to go away is to restart. After restart, it could be a few days before it returns. I am running AVG 8.5.424 with all updates and it has found nothing. Also running SpyHunter version 3.7.19 with all definitions up to date and it finds nothing. I am also including a photo so you can see the triangle for yourself. Please help.

For the last few weeks, I have noticed that I have the occasional yellow triangle with an exclamation point on it in my system tray. It does not appear to have any affect to my PC, but these things always lead to something worse. The icon appears with no pop-up message of any kind. Hovering over it yields no indication of what program it belongs to, and it also seems to disable any other icon from giving the hovering label either. Left-clicking on it does nothing and right clicking on it makes it disappear.

I know this has been asked before. The last post gave me direction on how to find out the 'event'. Well I did and when I pulled up the Computer Management screen, the source of it is 'fastfat'. I got one a few hours earlier and it said, 'disk'. The one before that, it said 'tcpip'. Strangely enough, that's when my internet froze up.

I don't know what's going on. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this symbol, better yet the problem? It comes up a few times an hour but then if I click on it, it goes away.

When I come back to my computer after several hours of ?inactivity?, I am finding a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in my system tray. Usually, if I click on the triangle, it disappears not to return until after the machine has been idle for some time-usually overnight. One time, however, a small ?system error? bubble appeared but it had no further information. It is not a low virtual memory notice. I have combed through several forums looking for the solution but have come up short. I have not made any hardware changes or added any software that runs a TSR.

I am running a Athlon 64 3000+ with 1g RAM on XP SP2. Virtual memory is system controlled and is currently 1534mb on my 500g HD. The machine is hard wired to a Belkin Pre-N wireless network. Though I set the IP address, I do not set the IP for the other 2 machines in our home network. Computer names are different. I am running Norton System works in auto-protect mode and Zone Alarm Pro. I have used both of these for a long time and have never had a compatibility issue. In some forums, I noted that some people got a ?click me? message as a result of some spy or malware. I have run both my antivirus and both on-line and installed versions of spyware/malware detectors and have come up clean. I compared Hijack printouts of when the symbols was present and when it was not and found no differences.

Fearful of posting a Hijack printout in this forum, I note the following running processes:

Everytime i boot up my computer there's this yellow triangle exclamation in the taskbar saying Unidentified network and i cannot access the net unless i go to cmd and type ipconfig /release then /renew, sometimes it does not work. (Everytime i want to access the internet, i always have to do that)

I did clean out other unwanted files in my comp(detected by eset) But still the problem persists. I am on safe mode.

Edit:
I did ipconfig /release and /renew in normal mode and it worked(sometimes it wouldn't work though)

Answer:Unidentified network (or the yellow triangle with an exclamation on it)

Are there any yellow exclamation points in the device manager? What is this a desktop or laptop. Can you supply specs for this computer?

Hello,
I am running Windows XP with SP2 installed on a Dell Latitude D610 Laptop.
I was visiting a website the typical popup showed asking about security, etc. etc. I also noticed that as I did this the cursor was showing as if something was processing and then my computer rebooted by itself! After it started again the computer was showing that 99% of the cpu was being used and everything was at a crawl. I also noticed that a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it was now in my task bar. Even in safe mode the triangle appears after about thirty minutes. I have also noticed web pages closing by themselves and when I was trying to download some of you guys fixes, they would start but then just terminate and disapear. I am familar with HJT and some of the other goodie applications. I just need help because this time this malware is quite the stubborn one...

I rebooted to Safe Mode and ran smit fraud. SmitFraud produced the following log: (I ran SmitFraud in SafeMode)

It will most likely be on your motherboard disk.Insert the disc into drive and click on update driver. If you do not have the motherboard disc go to the manufacturers site and download drivers from there.

I was just having a look through my pc, trying to understand things and learn more, when I went to Control Panel>Systems>Device Manager, I saw in Portable devices there was a yellow exclammation mark on MTP Device.
Firstly, what is a MTP device & why is the exclammation mark there. Can anyone explain to me in English as I'm only a beginner. You must understand I'm over 40 & Blonde!
My pc is Intel Pentium 4, Packard BellNEC P480410801. It's Windows XP.

Answer:Yellow exclamation mark

MTP Device, my guess would be "Media Transfer Protocol". The exclamation mark usually represents a driver that has not been successfully installed.

You can try downloading "Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit"

MTP was first shipped as part of the Windows Media Device Manager 10 SDK. This porting kit includes the complete MTP specification, updated design documentation, updated sample source code, software to implement a PC-based MTP simulator, and MTP test tools.Click to expand...

A yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside it appears on the bottom right-hand side of my screen. Nothing happens when I do a right click or a left click on it.

My computer is lagging behind on all the tasks I try to do on it, taking longer to open up when double-clicked, bring up webpages, etc.

Every 10 seconds, a sound comes through my speakers like a hiccup sound.

My home page is set to "awesomehomepage.com" and sometimes "index.com" or "searchnut.com". These came back after I had tried to change it from them and had rebooted my PC.

Not sure if this is a problem, but when the computer is on and I'm not using it for some time (maybe 20 minutes or so), the computer starts to sound as though it's processing or running something.

It seems that some/all these problems above are associated with the reason why my computer no longer brings up a specific dialog box on a website that I have special access to from my job. I am no longer able to enter into that website anymore since all these things started happening.

I went through all the steps before posting, except for #5, because DSS wouldn't run stating "Autolt Error--Unable to open the script file".
So HijackThis didn't run through DSS, so I don't have the log (unless I was supposed to run HijackThis separatetly since I couldn't get DSS to run).

I do have the log from the Panda scan as inserted below.

Any help will be thoroughly appreciated.

Answer:Yellow triangle with exclamation point and other computer problems

Quote:

Autolt Error--Unable to open the script file

Norton Internet Security 2005 may be blocking DSS from running. Try disabling any script protection, or exit NIS then try running DSS again. You may need to download DSS again. Be sure to reenable NIS before posting.

If that fails, post a HijackThis log.

My computer has been taken over!! I will go to websites and randomly being taken to others. A yellow triangle pops up at random times telling me either: You have been infected by spyware or your computer is running slowly. I have checked the Control Panel = Device Manager and there are no system problems. I have run ATF Cleaner, Hijack This - Removed all the infected 02's etc.OT2, SDfix, Malware Bytes, and Combofix. It still happens. Also my desktop turned blue and had a spyware warning on it. Win_perfomance was installed somehow along with internetsomething? The internetsomething deleted after I ran all the programs but Win_performance still appears. Can anyone help me? I have included a screenshot.

Answer:Yellow Triangle With Exclamation Point - Not System Problem

Give running the SmitFraudFix a go and post the scan repot back, please. For XP/2K/2003/Vista onlyPlease download SmitfraudFixDouble-click SmitfraudFix.exeSelect option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

So I set out to redo my girlfriends computer, repartitioned the hard drive and installed windows xp with no problems.  Reinstalled some drivers from the disk she was given with the computer with no problems.  During one of the many updates to windows xp though, the cd rom drive developed a problem where in device manager it shows a big yellow exclamation mark and says the drivers can not be uploaded and that they are either corrupt or missing.  There is also a dvd rom drive that developed the same problem.  I have uninstalled both drives and reinstalled them and the problem persists.  Now I cant even start over as I cant boot from the cd rom drive. The computer has an AMD 2400+  1.67 GHz with 480 Ram, and I believe is on a VIA motherboard, at least that is what the driver disk is labeled as.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try next? I would really appreciate it.

Answer:cd rom drive has a big yellow exclamation mark

I would try another IDE cable....Also DLoad a WinME bootdisk from bootdisk.com and extract the file to create a bootable floppy. Get the one with CDRom support. You should then be able to use the drives.

I upgraded my pc to windows 7 ultimate and it finds all drivers except the pci device, getting The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). Tried to load them automatically online without success. Any additional suggestions/ideas???

Answer:PCI DEVICE WITH YELLOW EXCLAMATION MARK

Hi: Please post the hardware ID for the PCI Device so I can figure out what driver it needs. To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the PCI Device. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the PCI Device window. Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

Please help thanks in advance for your time

Answer:Yellow exclamation mark beside dvd drive

Not a driver issue. The optical drive has worn out from use in most cases. $24 replacement drive is the fastest and the least expensive solution.

The alert is caused by detection of alignment or unrepairable configuration error.

Unfortunately problems like this arrise when being MS Guinea Pig with BETAs ...They plan on people like you reporting issues to them to fix bugs as part of the Beta program and save them from vigorous testing expenses.Your registry is likely hosed and still has junk from IE8 corrupting IE7. As for MS likely never planned for anyone to downgrade from IE8 to IE7 so its likely a sloppy uninstall with junk left behind.I'd backup your important data and reinstall Windows clean and wait to install IE8 until the BETA is finished or there is a critical need to have IE8's features. I'd stick with IE7 the stable IE for now.

Firewall first so it's in place when you get back online. Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services and scroll to Windows Firewall/ICS. Double click the Service and change the Startup to Automatic, click Apply and OK. Restar the computer and the warning should have gone away.

As for teh ethernet adapter, it's best to post back some details of your computer - make, model, etc. and someone will know which adapter you have and where to find the driver.

Said limited connectivity and would not connect. Someone told me to restart the computer and the internet magically started working again. It didn't work this time. I've tried troubleshooting, reading other posts of people's problems and none of it helped to fix it. I have windows 7. If you could help me figure out what to do I'd really appreciate it. Hi, thanks to all who replied to my earlier post on driver needed. I haven't ticked it as resolved because there aint no change.AST P.series laptop, Win 98. No matter what I try I cant remove the exclamation mark from the PCIC or compatible PCMCIA controller in device manager. I have tried updating the driver but it keeps saying that the best driver is already installed. I have tried removing all the entries for the PCMCIA card and letting windows find and instal new hardware. (I have to instal the PCIC or compatible PCMCIA controller manually). In 'Safe Mode' there are no exclamation marks in 'Device Manager. This is preventing the modem connecting (I think). Grateful for any help. Cheers, Bill

Since I had XP installed (I previously had ME) I have a yellow exclamation mark under other Devices/Network Controller in Control Panel/Systems/Hardware/Device Manager.I didn't even know that I had a Network Controller!Everything seems to work OK so why is it telling me that there is something wrong with something that I didn't know that I even had!!

Answer:Yellow Exclamation Mark on Network Controller

Its probably due to not having any or the correct drivers installed for that device. Are you using a dial-up or a modem? Do you have an ethernet card installed? You can try and reinstall update drivers. click on the device then select properties and then follow the instructions.Hope that helps.

I have searched multiple forums and found variations of this problem, none of them being the same as my situation. In device manager, everything under "Network Adapters" has a yellow exclamation mark next to it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers with the files I downloaded from the manufacturers website on another computer. I even bought a new Linksys Ethernet adapter (LNE100TX) and tried installing that, with no luck. When I try installing I get the code 39 error or "The Wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than the software you currently have installed." I was able to connect just fine two days ago. Yesterday I did a lot of scans with spyware removal programs and such, which may have affected this problem. I would restore or recover, which seemed to help some people out, but I have a registry error that cannot load the hive. Any suggestions, with the network adapters or being able to restore or recover?

Hi,

Recently i was reformat my pc win XP MC using Recovery CD, but i saw it on the Device manager SM BUS CONTROLLER is having yellow mark.
How could i fix it?

Sometime my pc was freezing (stop working) so i need to restart my pc.
Is this due to the sm bus controller? I was try to click update but there is a message ( the hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software)

Some body can guide me how to fix it?

thanks

Answer:Qosmio F30-112: SM BUS CONTROLLER with yellow exclamation mark

Hi

In your case I would recommend updating/reinstalling the driver!
The F30-112 is a part of the PQF30E series.

The SM bus controller might be the SD card reader.
Therefore I recommend downloading the Texas Instruments Flash Media Driver v 2.0.0.4 from the Toshiba European driver page and to install it again.

See if you can find the motherboard drivers or the chipset drivers. Also, not sure why you crippled your computer by going back to xp. But, I'm not going to judge.

Hi, I have a I MSI U135DX for some reason it all of a sudden just stopped connection to the internet wirelessly but would connect via and ethernet cable. I have researched this and and struggling to get it sorted. I have managed somehow to connect again via the ethernet cable but still no wireless connection.

In my device manage it says network controller with a yellow exclamation mark but when I try to re install or update the driver it says the driver was not installed correctly. When I go to my internet connection or to set up a internet connection it does not even show any wirless conections.

I have made sure that the wireless connection is on and have eventurned it off and on to see if it would connect but I am guessing that it is a problem with this netwprk driver.
Please could someone help as I am at a complete loss now and have tried to download drivers from the MSI website but still no luck.

Many thanks

Answer:Network controller with yellow exclamation mark

The driver from the MSI website should be exactly what you need. Odd it isn't working. Have you tried completely uninstalling the device from 'device manager' and then rebooting? After doing that you should be able to install the MSI one and be set....

If I run the wizard, I check the little box that says to not run this wizard again. Once I close the wizard, it pops right back up again. I click cancel then it says that there may be a problem or whatever then it disappears. But once I restart, the found new hardware wizard pops back up again.

Also in my device properties, there's two PCI Devices that have a yellow exclamation mark. Is this related to the found new hardware wizard? How would I fix the exclamations?

Answer:Yellow Exclamation Mark in Device Manager

Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the card? Also, do you have the old card disabled or removed?

In device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark. The driver is updated but the exclamation stays. How to fix it?

Answer:Yellow exclamation mark in device manager - how to fix?

I don't know which machine do you have, which operating system do you use and which hardware component make troubles but what I can say is that you should identify device using http://www.pcidatabase.com/ and be sure you use the right driver.

If you need more help post some basic information.

Hello, I believe I have a virus or malware possibly. If I open a program, a yellow triangle box with an explanation mark pops up in the task bar and doesn't have a tool tip, and if I left click it, it goes away till I open something else. Also, to top it off, I cannot goto ad aware's main website, nor can I goto spybots, it disconnects my interenet. So I downloaded the programs via a different website and was able to download them, but I cannot install because they download addition files from their site which this virus/malware is blocking. Anyways, I got my hijackthis log and would appreciate it if I could get some insite on what is going on. Thanks.

Hello!

Just bought a new Cisco e1200 router last week. When i first hooked it up, it was giving me extremely low (significantly lower than my old router) downloading speeds. After switching the networking mode from "mixed' to "Wireless-G only", the speeds went back to normal. I tried "Wireless-N only", but it didn't work after that. Seemingly, my computer does not work with Wirless-N?

It's been running okay now, but 2 things happen occasionally:

When playing a game, I experience lag for a period of 5 minutes, or sometimes 20 minutes. It goes away on its own. Never happened with my old router.
When surfing the internet, pages will refuse to load. The connection bars shown at the bottom right hand corner of my computer display a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. This goes away on its own after about 4-5 minutes.

These problems come randomly every 3-4 or days, maybe a bit longer. Is there any way I can fix these issues?

Thank You to anyone who answers!

I have a Dell 4600 running XP Home and all my USB ports have suddenly stopped working.

When I go to the device manager and expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers, each of the Intel(R) 8280 1EB VBB Universal Host Controller has a yellow exclamation mark beside them.

When I check their status this is the message: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).

I was not in the registry prior to this, so I don't know how it got damaged
I tried this: Click Uninstall, and then click Scan for hardware changes to load a usable driver ? no effect.

I tried this: Restart the computer in Safe Mode, and then select Last Known Good Configuration, which rolls back to the most recent successful registry configuration ? didn't fix the problem.

Microsoft says that as a last resort, you can edit the registry directly ? but I not sure where and what to edit in the registry.

If anyone can tell me what keys to edit in the registry I would very appreciative. I will do anything to avoid reinstall windows from scratch.

I unfortuately didn't have system restore going so I cannot use that.

I also tried system file checker without any effect.

Thank you in advance.

I have a problem with my usb ports for over a month. Only the ones in which the mouse and the keyboard work, for the rest I have to disable and enable the Intel(R) N10/ICH7 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 27C9, 27CA, 27CB, 27CC like in the picture below (before doing these steps). I have tried countless time to uninstall the driver and install it again for each port, and I also reinstalled my motherboard driver twice and I'm stuck with the same problem. I didn't have it before but I messed up my ports thanks to Oracle VM VirtualBox. I even tried that fix it thing from microsoft, and I still have the same problem. The only way to make the ports work is to disable and enable each of them, but I'd like them to stay enabled (So i wouldn't repeat these steps all over again after each restart). At Device status it says This device cannot start. (Code 10). My motherboard model is MSI g41m-p26. Thanks in advance for your help!

HiCan anyone help? Each time I open a new window or tab (IE7) a yellow exclamation mark window pops up in the middle of the screen, it has no writing in it to help identify it, so am at a loss trying to get rid of it.I know that this indicates a conflict somewhere, but can anyone advise what this might be and how to solve it?I have tried uninstalling IE7, repairing IE6, updating java and numerous spybot removals (MALWARE/SPYWARE REMOVAL GUIDE), but it still remains. Thanks in advance

Answer:Yellow exclamation mark when opening windows/tabs

An exclamation mark in middle of screen with no details, sounds more than a bit dodgy to me. Have you tried right-clicking on it to see if a menu of any sort appears?Or - run CCleaner click here this may clear it.

Hi,

I recently changed my internal Wifi adapter to an external USB wifi adapter because I was having so many problems with it. Since installing the USB wifi adapter, I am having different intermittent problems with the WiFi. Sometimes it is working fine but a lot of the time the yellow exclamation mark appears and sometimes the available WiFi connections will not be recognized and when it eventually does recognize it I have to re-enter the WiFi password for it to work.

The WiFi icon in the system tray says "Identifying... No Internet Access."

When I try to fix it using the troubleshooter, it says:

DHCP is not enabled for "Wifi" - Not Fixed
"WiFi" doesn't have a valip IP configuration - Not Fixed

Then all of a sudden I close the box down and it starts working again until 10 minutes later or until I have restarted my computer then it will stop working.

As far as I can see, DHCP is already enabled for IP version 4.

Does anyone know of a way to permanently fix this? Please note that I have no other problems with several other WiFi devices connecting to the same router.

Thanks,

Hello,

i just downgraded my Satellite p300 to XP pro, but it seems to me that i have some problems now.

- First, in the device manager i have a line "Audio device on High Definition Bus" with a yellow "?" and a "!". I have installed the audio drivers and run kb888111xpsp2.exe but that's not solved the problem, this line doesn't disappear.

- Secondly, when I right-click on "my computer>properties" it's written that i've got 2,96Go RAM but normally i have 4Go. Is it normal ? I'm a little affraid to see this and don't know what to do.

Can someone help me ?

XP HD-Audio support requires:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/835221

You are only seeing about 3GB of RAM because 32bit operating systems use the 3GB->4GB range to map hardware (for example the Video Memory and PCI devices).

You will need to install a 64bit operating system to access the full 4GB, such as Vista 64bit or Windows7 64bit. There is a 64bit version of XP, but its a headache to find 64bit XP drivers.

Answer:Installed XP on R61 and network controller not working - yellow exclamation mark

Hi systematic, Welcome to the Lenovo forum. Did you ever have your ThinkPad's network controller working before you (re-?)installed XP? The driver from the Lenovo support site is the one you want. Remove all the other ones before proceeding. Lenovo packages their drivers somewhat un-intuitively: running the downloaded driver package only extracts it to a sub-folder of C:\drivers. You must then find the extracted sub-folder and run the actual installer inside it. The easier way is to download, install and run ThinkVantage System Update. It will locate, download and install all the drivers for your ThinkPad. If your wired network still doesn't work, you could try a different cable... Best of luck,Frank

Answer:High Definition Audio Device has yellow exclamation mark

OK, that is exactly what I thought it was in the first place...the Intel HD Audio chip. Try manually installing the driver I posted as follows.  If you have not deleted the file I posted, go to the device manager and click on the HD audio device needing the driver. Click on the Driver tab.  Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file. That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp72370. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way. Then restart the PC. If you did delete the file, download and run the driver again, close out of the error window and follow the above procedure. I see the hardware ID you posted as supported in the driver file, so it should work.

Under Infrared Devices I have a yellow exclamation mark by "Serial Cable using IrDA Protocol."This is a HP laptop computer with Windows XP Media Center Edition.  I'm hooked up to my wireless home network which just includes my desktop computer and this laptop.    I am trying to partition and format a new Seagate SATA hard drive using a USB hard drive adapter and cannot get the hard drive recoginzed but I think that is another forum question.  When I try to troubleshoot and install a better driver in order to remove the exclamation mark a message indicates there is nothing wrong with this device (what particular device they are mentioning I do not know).  The message indicates there is not a better driver.  Yet the exclamation mark remains.  I do have an external floppy drive I use plugged in through a USB connector sometime but not now.  What other infrared device the message is referring I have no idea.  Frank C.

Bought this from a relative who had it downgraded from Vista To XP pro- The intel 3945ABG wireless card has the yellow exclamation mark next to it in device manager

_*things I have tried*_

- updating the driver from Toshiba website
- updating the driver from the Intel website
- unistalling the device and reinstalling it
- disabling the device and re enabling it
- updating the bios
- rooting around in the bios to see if there are any settings that might work
- reinstalling Vista
- reinstalling XP
- installing windows 7
- checking the wireless switch is lit up on the front of the machine

Trawling the internet for many hours to see if anyone else has had the same issue. There are more but can't remember

*_things i haven't tried_
- taking the machine apart and replacing the card
- dropping it off a table to see if things improve

I am currently using a wireless usb card attached to the lid using masking tape

Any suggestions?????

There is a yellow exlamation mark beside the primary and secondary Ide channel in device manager. It says in the device manager dialog box
"The device cannot find enough free resources that it can use, if you want to use this device you will need to disable one of the other devices in the system"

I've tried uninstalling both Ide channels in device manager and rebooting but same thing happens.

Modem does not work as well which I presume is a result of first problem.

What should I do? Your help would be much appreciated.

If this is on a new installation, you may not have installed chipset drivers . . check your manufacturers website or a cd that may have come with the board.

Tell us the Hardware ID numbers so we can identify the devices.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager.
Right-Click on the Unknown Device, and select "Properties".
Go to the "Details" Tab, select "Device Instance ID" or "Hardware Ids" in the dropdown list.

You will see something like PCI\VEN_????
The VEN_ number is the Vendor or Manufacturer. For example:

8086 = Intel
10EC = Realtek
168C = Atheros
14E4 = Broadcom
1022 = AMD
1106 = VIA
11AB = Marvell Yukon

Also tell us the DEV number, for example: ACPI\TOS6205 is Bluetooth

My issue is about this yellow exclamation mark on 'Network' icon on the right bottom of taskbar.
1. Yellow exclamation mark on the network icon, but it has good internet connectivity
2. It only happens with a CABLE connection. Wireless connection from the same router has no mark.

3. When yellow exclamation mark is on, the intranet sharepoint is not accessible, but all other internet sites work fine.

4. I can clear this yellow mark after I connect wifi and change back to the cable connection. It stays clean till I reboot.

5. This symptom does not happen when I am on a safe mode, so I guess it is about certain applications that I am running.
This wifi and cable connection is actually from the same router.
My computer is Windows 7 Professional Laptop. I can easily clear this within 20 seconds, but I want to know how I have all clear network connectivity from the beginning of my day all the time. I would appreciate your great solution.

I have two DVD drives connected to an XP desktop computer, however, the do not work.

They appear in Device Manager under DVD/CD-ROM drives with a yellow shreik/exclamation mark preceding the listing.

The devices are also recognized in the BIOS setup.

When I click on the device in Device Manager, I get the message"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)".

One of the devices previously worked correctly. In fact, I completed a clean install of XP using it.

Just what does the error message mean? Does it mean that the devices are faulty & need to be replaced?

What is the solution to this problem?

I have a Satellite U300 PSU30E running Windows XP, SP3.

After having installed iTunes version 8 and having rebooted, I get a popup that a new device has been added.
The "device wizzard' fails to locate any suitable drivers and I get relevant messages that the device failed to install and so on.
The system appears to be working fine.

In the Device Manager I see that under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers devices family I have a yellow exclamation mark next to "Base System Device". All other devices of the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers tree appear in good condition. The device family tree is:

- IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
--- (!) Base System Device
--- Intel(R) 8280 1HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller
--- Intel(R) ICH8M Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 2850
--- Primary IDE Channel
--- Ricoh SD/MMC Host Controller
--- Ricoh xD- Picture card controller
--- Secondary IDE Channel

The machine does not appear handicapped in any respect, but I do get the "new device" message each time I boot up as well as the subsequent 'device failed to install' routine.

Any idea what sort of device is that "base system device" in the IDE controller family?
I've re-installed the Intel chipset drivers to no change in device status.

Many thanks!

What happens if you remove iTunes8?
Do you have the same issue after this?

This is really strange but maybe this has something to do with the upper and lower filters. The point is if you install CD/DVD related software, they install filters into registry which can cause compatibility issues.
So follow this workaround and post your result:

Answer:R61: MATSH(ITA)A DVD/CDRW UJDA 780 driver has exclamation mark highlighted in yellow, why?

That could be issue with some copyprotection enabled program or game. Look for google using seach. "dvd upper filter" I had same issue when i installed some cad software that has some copyprotect its installed "rootkit" driver to dvd. When i removed it from dvd upper filer from windows registery all worked fine after that.Message Edited by outouser on 05-11-2009 09:58 AM

Hello,

I have a problem with installing Windows XP pro on this notebook. I downloaded all drivers from the website (Chose the PSAE6 since the PSAE6E isn't there) but now there are 2 exclamation marks in the devicemanager: Audiodevice on High Definition Audio bus and PCI-geheugencontroller (Dutch Xp).

I also installed (you have to try something...) the MS patch KB888111 XP sp2 but that didn't help.

I can reinstall this notebook as much as I like so experimenting is no problem. Anybody?

Regards,

Wim

Answer:Yellow exclamation mark on High Definition Audio on Satellite A200-175 with XP

Hi Wim,

What are the error codes beside these devices in device manager?

If they ar not directly visible you can right-click on each of the devices and select Properties - the error code should be displayed in the device status box.

Best regards,

Kelly
