Preferred Solution: Windows 7 and 8 on the same computer. Installation order.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Windows 7 and 8 on the same computer. Installation order.

Answer:G500 drivers installation order on Windows 7

Hello Gus,There is no particular driver installation order. I personally firstly install Chipset then Display/Video drivers and after that everything else. Since you have AMD RADEON HD8570M in your machine, you do not have to install the three additional Intel drivers.

Hi there,

I would like to upgrade my X300 -130 from vista home to windows 7 64bit or Vista business 64bit.
I've seen the drivers on Toshiba's website. But i'm not sure in what order should they be installed.

Can someone please tell me in what order should the drivers be installed?

Regards

Answer:Qosmio X300 - Installation order for 64bit Windows

I think that installations order for 32-bit and 64-bit is the same. There is no difference at all. Windows 7 is not supported at the moment and you will not find drivers or other Toshiba stuff for download.
So you can install Vista 64-bit. It is supported and drivers, Toshiba tools and utilities can be downloaded from Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Do you need some assistance with installations order?

There is no special installation order.
But I recommend installing the common drivers at first.
I mean the sound driver, Chipset utilities, ATI display driver or Bluetooth stack.

After that follow with Value Added Package etc?

The Wlan card driver can be downloaded from here:

Hello,

Sorry to post a new thread but the old one " [Tecra A10 - Installation order for XP|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=45611] " being closed and my question relates to the same topic.

I got hold of a Tecra A10 PTSB0A-002001 and I would like to install XP SP3 on it so the order in which to install Toshiba additionnal drivers is very useful. Thank you Ivan25 for that information.

Toshiba also include a Java Runtime Environment 2 package which I was planning to replace by a JSE 7. I would like to know in which order it has to be installed?

Furthermore, after installing XP SP3 there are still hundreds of Windows updates to apply, should those Windows updates be installed straight after XP SP3 setup or after Toshiba drivers?

Thank you in advance for your help

Cheers
Eric

Answer:Tecra A10 - Installation order for XP, additional Windows updates and JRE

Java Runtime Environment 2 package can be installed after installation of all common drivers and tools? Java Runtime Environment isn?t essential part if it comes to install other drivers and tools and therefore it?s not very important when the package would be installed.

You have to install all the Win XP updates after the installation of Toshiba drivers and utilities.
During the update installation, the notebook needs to be rebooted several times and the whole procedure would take some time?

However, from my point of few, Win XP isn?t the best choice now since the Microsoft does not provide any support for this system now?

There are no many drivers and utilities so I would recommend starting with Chip Set Utility, Display Driver, Sound Driver, Infrared Driver, LAN Driver, Mouse Driver, Wireless Lan Driver.
Then follow with common modules and power saver, etc?

The Windows Photo Viewer will not display photos in the order they are sorted by Windows Explorer.
This is not referring to the slide show feature, just the forward and back arrows.
The only order pictures can be viewed is by name despite Windows Explorer being set at view by date, ascending.
I have repaired Microsoft Live Essentials, uninstalled and reinstalled but the issue remains.
This is also not an issue with photo tags or photo names.
Windows Explorer sorts as selected but click a picture in the middle to view, click the forward arrow and instead of the next date picture being viewed, the next name picture is viewed.

Answer:Windows Photo Viewer; sorting order not the same as view order

Hi!

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently as well, I have the same problem and I also have a solution. However, I do not know, if it is ideal. :-)

What is obviously missing is an entry in the registry called DropTarget. This entry tells Windows Photo Viewer to display the images in the sorting order of the folder Photo Viewer got called from.

Non-solution:
I saw that at least in my registry there is a DropTarget defined in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open\DropTarget. From the name of the key and from reading the docs this looks as if it would be applied to all calls to this program, but -if that actually is the case- for me this entry does not work. It has been there (at least) after my Windows 10 upgrade, also the "Clsid"="{FFE2A43C-56B9-4bf5-9A79-CC6D4285608A}" seems to be fine, but it does not do the job.

Solution:
For me, this problem was present for jpg and png files, but not for bmp, dib, gif, jfif and what else can be opened with Windows Photo Viewer. To fix this, I have added the following to the Windows Registry:

Code:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\open\DropTarget]
"Clsid"="{FFE2A43C-56B9-4bf5-9A79-CC6D4285608A}"

Hello. I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this topic but I think it is.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows 7. Recently I made the decision to restore my system to "out-of-the-factory" settings using the Toshiba program that came with the computer to do this. This went well.

when this was done, the computer restarted, and after the normal start-up screen, it began installing windows.

About halfway through this process, my brother decided it would be funny to turn off the computer in the middle of the installation.

when I turned the computer back on, it went to the windows installation again, but very soon an error message came up saying

"the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."

However, after pressing OK, the computer restarts, but the same error message comes up, leaving me in a loop.

So is there anything I can do to fix this? Or does my brother owe me a new computer?

Btw I don't care about losing data, I have everythign backed-up on an external hard drive.

Answer:"Computer restarted unexpectedly....windows installation cannot proceed" installation loop.

I think you need to reformat C: (delete the partition) and (redo partition) using ntfs drive and restart the installation. Do you have a OS Windows Disk?

Let's say I've just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit version, and I've just arrived at the desktop for the first time. I want to know, in order, what installation task you should do first, second, etc etc.

This would be my best guess, but i need you guys to verify it:

Just arrived at Desktop for the 1st time

Task 1: Download/Install all Windows Updates

Task 2: Download/Install all required Drivers

Task 3: Download Adobe Flash, Reader, Java etc

Task 4: Install Anti-virus Program

Task 5: Install all software such as Photoshop, iTunes, Sony Vegas, Google Chrome etc etc

Would that be a sensible and correct order of installation ?

Thanks.

Answer:Order of Installation

It probably doesn’t matter too much. Someone could make arguments for almost any order.

I almost always install the browser I want first, then get the drivers I need, then setup Windows settings how I want (power settings, etc.). If you can, have all the drivers you need ready to go on an external USB drive or something, so you can install before you even need to go online.

I’d say your best bet is just to do all the things you’ve listed, whatever the order, as it shouldn’t matter that much. Although I would definitely install things like Photoshop and iTunes after doing stuff like drivers and the programs you use the most, such as your browser.

I have 400+ photos, all are in the same order by date created and by name, so no matter which way I sort them--by name or date created-- they are in the same order. When i view them with microsoft office picture manager, some of them -- about 20, at random throughout the list -- are out of order.

suggestions?

Hi! I have a question about the installation of Windows 7.
Here is my PC config.
Gigabyte P55A-UD3R (with last beta bios)
Intel core i5
Ati radeon 5750
Mouse g9x
Keyboard 600 logitech
Webcam logitech
Audio and lan integrated into motherboard (realtek)
Monitor hp 2009v
Router netgear dg834g v5
4 gb ram

My question is: what is the ideal installation order of drivers, updates and programs in a clean Windows 7 64 bit installation?

For example, first chipset drivers and then lan, of first do updates and then drivers etc...

Thank you very much!!!

Answer:Optimal installation order

My route would be:

Chipset Driver
Video Driver
Local Area Network Driver
Audio Adapter Driver
Wireless Network Adapter Driver
Keyboard and Mouse Drivers
All Windows Updates
Individual applications + updates with a reboot between each application installation.

Need to set up a multiboot sys. using XP, Server 2003 and Linux. I've found conflicting info in this regard. I've found info saying to install Linux first then windows os's and I've seen the exact opposite suggested. To install the older win os first, followed by xp then linux. Can anyone tell me the correct order to install and perhaps any other valuable info? Like say, ntfs or fat? I do beleive ntfs would work but I've never done a triple boot system. Thanks in advance!

Answer:Order of OS installation for a multiboot sys

It's perhaps easier if you can install the oldest Win version first followed by later versions of Win then finally Linux but OS's can be installed in almost any sequence. Lots of info on the WWW, here's one http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_...I'd recommend sticking with NTFS for the Win partitions, NTFS can be read/written by Linux.Good luck.

Answer:The Sims 1 installation order?

The correct order to install them is by release date. Once all are installed, if I remember right you should play from the disc of the last one installed (Makin' Magic in your case). Here's the release order of all the expansions:The Sims: Livin' LargeThe Sims: House PartyThe Sims: Hot DateThe Sims: VacationThe Sims: UnleashedThe Sims: SuperstarThe Sims: Makin' MagicSince you said you've installed them in this order, which disc are you using to try to play the game? The Sims is notorious for this little problem. Can't believe they never did anything to fix it or simplify it.

Dear all I am so happy to join you all in this forum & I need your help please about my new R ThinkPad Recently, I bought new Thinkpad R61 7733 PAU, with T8300 (2.40). I have Two Qs: -I will upgrade my OS from Vista home basic  to Vista Home Premier with SP2. of course,I need to install again all the drivers;my question is: which best order priority for installation? Which driver need to be installed before the other? 2nd Q:-is it possible if I installed vista SP2 (32 bit), to upgrade the memory to 4GB?or I need vista (64 bit) to do that? thank you all in advanceModerator note: Type added to subject line for clarity. Message Edited by Agotthelf on 07-08-2009 07:38 AM

Answer:R61: Installation Drivers Order

My guess would be Vista will already have most of the drivers, especially if you put on the service packs before doing the drivers.  The power management and TPM drivers are a couple it might not have.  I don't the order matters especially much.  Then throw on any ThinkVantage Tools you want to use. Yes, you'll need a 64 bit OS, beit XP, Vista or Linux, to use more than 3GB of memory.

Hey,

I am about to reinstall win2k, and was hoping that you could illuminate me as to the "best" order in which to install mobo/chipset, graphics, usb, printer drivers etc.

Also, am I correct in assuming that it is best to install all windows updates prior to installing any hardware drivers?

Since I last rebuilt, my system has been a bit unstable (relatively common bsod or ctd's when playing bf142), which I suspect may be due to dodgy driver installs.... from memory I may not have removed existing drivers when updating my gfx driver.

System specs:

mobo - gigabyte 7n400l
gfx - gigabyte 9600xt 256MB
realtek onboard sound

Thanks for any help... great site btw.

I personally go with that order you have above chipset, graphics etc

as to windows updates, I would do those updates right after the chipset & graphics drivers, those are the two main ones the others can wait a bit until you have all security and os updates.

I generally download all the relevent drivers, security programs and updates ( the service packs can be downloaded in full, rather than the live install ) before re-install as it saves going on the net with an unpatched PC.

Is there a best order to load software on a pc.I usually go, O/s, drivers, updates, anti virus, firewall, applications, followed by any other programs. All advice welcome.

Answer:Software Installation Order

very interesting question, one that has floated around the back of my mind. Also, i have wondered, does the order in which windows loads stuff on startup effet the time it takes to boot. To answere you question, when i recently re-loaded everything, i went;OS, drivers, Firewall & Av package, Update OS, Update AV and Firewall, the rest, update the rest. Seems to have worked. But dont know if it would have mattered if i did it in a different order.

I am building a new PC with Asus P8Z77-V motherboard. I downloaded all the most recent drivers form the Asus website.

After installation of Windows 8, is there a particular order for installing the drivers? Or is any order OK?

Answer:Installation order for drivers

Hello turboman,

It really doesn't matter so long as you only install them one at a time after the previous one is finished.

Here's the story:

I have an HP Compaq 6910p notebook that came with Vista. I'd like to downgrade to XP. HP has a list of XP Pro drivers for the 6910p on the HP Support site.

For the life of me I can't even understand what some of these drivers are. I tried installing them and am left with several unknown devices in the Device Manager. I need someone to help me decide which of the several drivers listed for the 6910p are meant for my machine. It seems like there are duplicates.

I'm guessing the order of installation of the drivers is important as well. I tried searching online for a guide but was unsuccessful.

Answer:Need someone smarter than me to help with XP Pro driver installation and order

well the thing with HP laptops is you won't be able to install the wrong driver anyways. If you see several wireless drivers for example (usually IntelPRO or Broadcom), you can simply get them both and one will tell you that that specific hardware doesn't exist. Just use the other.

I'm sure you'll be getting posts below mine asking this, so I'll start it off: Why are you removing Vista?

I presently have xp sp3 and office 2003 installed. I am planning to add win 7 without removing xp, and office 2007 without removing office 2003.  Which should be installed first, win 7 or office2007?  Thanks.   esmo

Answer:order of installation win 7 and office 1007

You are speaking of apples and oranges...as if they are one and the same...they are not .

XP and Win 7 are O/ses (operating systems).  In order to use either, each must be installed on its own partition.  Each functions independently of the other...what occurs in XP does not occur in Win 7 and vice versa.

Any version of MS Office is a program cluster, a number of different programs that do different things.  You can install different versions of MS Office on the same version of Windows, if you like...without any compatibility problems.

In order to install any program...be it MS Office or any other program...an O/S must first be installed.  The O/S is what allows a given program to run/function, the program is useless unless it is installed in a given version of Windows.

You could install as many different versions of MS Office...in as many different versions of Windows...as you like.

If you want to install Win 7 and keep your XP install, that is known as a dual-boot and presents no problems.  The Win 7 bootfiles will replace some of the XP boot files, but both O/Ses will be presented as boot options...when you start the computer after completing your Win 7 install.  The user then has the option of deciding whether he wants to boot into XP or Win 7...after selecting one, the system will boot into that version of Windows.

I dual-boot on this system (XP and Win 7).

I saw a post by Noel where he told the OP to install by Date, not KB# which reminded me of a question I've had for quite some time. Are updates generally listed in order of 'Importance' or 'Date' or what?

Right now I'm down to 6 updates left to do. They're all .NET Framework from the 7/9/13 list of updates & in clicking on the "More info button" they're all 7/9 & there are 4 listed for 3.5.1, then 2 listed for 4. I've read something about it's best to install these type one at a time, is that true? If so, that's 6 re-boots in a row if I were to do them all now which I kinda thought about since it's already 2 weeks past Patch Tuesday. I'm also assuming that all the Framework 3.5.1 should be done before the Framework 4.

Thanks.

Answer:Installation order of list of updates

The KB Number is generated at the start of a project - and as a results bears only some resemblance to the order in which patches are released, since some patches take longer to develop, test and approve, than others.

I generally do .NET update in increasing order by version, then date
e.g for XP, do all v1.1 then v2/3.5 - for Win7, all 3.5, then 4.5 (I've uninstalled 4.0, as it seemed always to create more problems than any other version)

120GB will be Hackintosh (iAtkos M) [Although I haven't gotten it to work with my computer. I still need to play around with clover options.)

After that you can install all Toshiba Tools & Utilities. Please be careful because the first of them must be ?Common Module?. And then go on with:

I hope that you will install your unit successfully.

I'm adding memory to a Lenovo M58 - model 7360 D3U. The board has 4 DIMM slots. I purchased the system refurbished and it came with the DIMM1 slot populated with a 2GB module. I'm adding one additional 2GB module and wasn't sure if I should install it in the DIMM2 slot or the DIMM3 slot. After searching the Lenovo website I was unable to find recommendations or specific technical info for the M58.  I found recommendations for other systems - those recommendations varied - populate in DIMM numerical order (DIMM1, DIMM2...), populate DIMM1 then DIMM3, populate DIMMs based on slot color, etc. I was hoping the recommendations would all be the same so I could make an educated guess, but since they aren't consistent I'm back at square one. slot colorsDIMM1 - BlueDIMM2 - GreenDIMM3 - BlueDIMM4 - Green If anyone has specific knowledge of how the slots should be populated for my particular system I would appreciate your input. So for example Value added package should be installed before you would install other Toshiba software?

There is no special installation order for Win 7.
You should simply start with the common drivers like graphic card, LAN, WLan, touchpad etc?
Then you should install the Utilities and firstly you should start with VAP (value added package)

Hey I?m new in this forum.

Well I have a driver?s installations problem with my Satellite L750.
When I?ve installed windows 7 pro 64bits, after that I want to install drivers but some of them are ok but when I wanted to install these drivers: Toshiba pc health monitor, Toshiba HDD protection, Toshiba sleep utility, Proset, they do not want to be installed.

It says either "not support" or it says "this application can't be installed". Is it the question of installation order that must be respected or what exactly???

Did anyone face this problem? Please I need a help.

PS: sorry for my English :)

Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm needing to build an SOE for an Australian Port?g? R830 PT321A-01M002 and require the appropriate driver installation order to ensure stability with Windows 7 Enterprise x64. I'm well aware of the standard order was wanting something more specific.

Obviously this question get's asked a lot of the various models, especially since technology is moving at such a rapid pace, is there a definitive source to use to get this information as we get new models in to standardise for corporate use? Something like Toshiba tools I guess would be handy that used to be for 2009 notebooks when Windows 7 was released to make it easier.

Many thanks, Richard.

Answer:Portg R830 Driver Installation Order

The order is still virtually the same as previous chipsets, so if you have an install list for say the R500 or R600, then you could use that as a basis.

Generally:
The Intel Chipset is the most important.
Then the Intel Rapid Storage driver.
Then the Toshiba Value Added Package.
Then the Display Driver.
...then the rest of the drivers (the order isn't very important)

Hi to all! I have installed Windows 7 on Qosmio X-300, but I don't know which is correct order I must install Toshiba drivers in!
I have tried to install them randomly, but after installing Toshiba Supervisor Password and rebooting the PC I get this message:

"SVPWUTIL.exe failed to execute because EBlib.dll could not be found".

So if someone knows right drivers order, PLEASE post it here!

Answer:What is correct drivers installation order for Qosmio X-300?

Hello

I am not 100% sure but I believe Qosmio x300 is not delivered with Win7 but with Vista only so I don't think someone here can post Win7 installations order.
I have Qosmio x300 too and I?ve tried to install Win7 clean but was not able to do it successfully.
I can send you Vista order if you want and you can try to install Win7 stuff.

Much better option is to make Win7 upgrade. I have done this last month and everything works perfectly.

I just read a good "article" on multiple OS installations and it said something that I'm wondering about w/Linux 7.1 (or 7.0) from RedHat. They used Linux 6.1 from RedHat and said that on their system if they installed W2K before Linux they couldn't figure out a way to install Linux. Here's the link to the article - http://www.maximumpc.com/reprint/quad_boot/index.html -
I liked everything about the article but I'm just curious if anyone knows about installing in a particular order and whether or not it makes a difference. Also, I want to use Boot Magic from Partition Magic 5.0 for my boot management. Anyone know if I should install that before beginning my multiple OS journey or after all of the OS's are installed? I'm installing W2K Pro and Linux 7.1 (or maybe 7.0) from RedHat on my PC to use with W98SE which is already installed. Any help with these questions would be great and very much appreciated.

Answer:Installation order of OS's in triple boot setup...

Well, I can answer one of your questions. It does make a difference in the order you load the different operating systems. It has to do with the boot loader that comes with the system. For example, Win2k's boot loader will recognize other OS's already installed and automatically add reference to them in the Master Boot Record of your hard drive. It wll also set up a boot menu for you so you can choose. Not all OS's provide that capability and will rewrite the MBR, wiping out any references to other OS's.

So, I have a disk with Windows 7 installed on the 3rd partition of that disk. I want to move that installation to the first partition of the disk.

Repartitioning and boot settings aside, is there a way to do that? (besides using sysprep)

Last time I tried that, windows would load slowly and after ''Preparing your desktop'' screen it would just show the one-color desktop, no icons, no explorer shell loaded.
Alt,Ctrl, delete works, for running ''explorer'' from task manager, but computer, control panel or anything system-related does not open, instead it pops up an error window with, (e.x.)''{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}''... not found.

What is the correct and recommended order to install the drivers after a clean Windows 10 installation.
I have always been told that it is Intel Chipset driver first, followed by all the other chipsets (Intel Management Interface etc) and then only after all the chipsets have been installed, the rest of the drivers can basically be installed in any order.
Ive just spoken to a guy on Technical Support who said SATA (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) drivers should be installed before the chipset drivers. Is that correct? This is his suggested order :-
1. BIOS
2. Intel Rapid Storage Technology-SATA driver
3. Intel Chipset driver
4. Then, All the other chipset drivers listed under the laptop service tag can then be installed in any order (Intel Management Interface, Card Reader, Intel Serial IO driver etc)
5. And finally..All the other drivers can then be installed in any order (Wi-Fi, Video, Audio, Ethernet Controller driver etc)

Answer:What is the correct order to install drivers after clean installation?

For the most part it doesn't really matter what order you install the drivers in. The main exception would be drivers for external buses - PCI, USB, TB, etc. since the driver for the controller must be installed before you can enumerate devices connected to them. Since it's hard for people to recognize these, it's simpler just to recommend "chipset" drivers get installed first.

1. It's good to update the BIOS first since a "BIOS" update, which may contain device firmware in addition to the UEFI image, may cause Windows to have to re-detect devices and may cause TPM changes that break Bitlocker/Hello. So it's best to do this before setting up anything else.

2. I don't see any specific reason for installing the RST driver first, unless you were setting up RAID and mess something up that renders the system unbootable.

3. The Intel chipset "driver" literally just makes some cosmetic changes to Device Manager (which is why Intel calls it the "INF update utility"). The actual drivers are already built-in to Windows. But in case Intel makes changes in the future, it's fine to install this before anything else.

Hi Everyone,
I looked through installation guides on here for the recommended installation order for drivers after a clean Windows 8 installation on an XPS8500 from Windows 8 disc. I also spoke to Tech Support but keep getting conflicting advice so I thought I would try posting here.
The question I have is regarding the Intel Chipset drivers. I know that they must be installed first before any other drivers. The confusion I have is regarding the Intel AMT HECI drivers (Intel Management Engine Interface) which are also listed as Chipset drivers.
Previous Support Technicians have always said that the Intel AMT HECI drivers installation order is not important so can be installed anytime. They always say Intel Chipset software must be done first though. I have read
driver order installation guides which shows HECI drivers way down on the installation order too.
The other day I was speaking to a guy over the phone on tech support who told me that you should install the Intel Chipset software, then the HECI drivers next!!
The reason I ask is I did a clean Windows 8 installation only last week. I installed the Intel Chipset software first and I have installed other drivers including Graphics and Wireless Network drivers. My HECI drivers were installed later. Will this cause me problems or will it be OK?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks very much in advance.

Answer:Driver Installation Order question after a clean install

The chipset drivers are always first as others have told you followed by the graphics drivers then the rest at your convenience or whatever is pressing.

Hi, I would like to use Windows Xp instead of Vista on this system.
I have Xp already running but it seems that it's important to install the drivers in the right order.
Can anyone help me out on this?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Peter

It seems that the title from this topic has been changed. I got some of the drivers before the website went down, my biggest problem is the right order of installing them.
I already have:
1) chipset utiltiy
2) sound
3) webcam
4) WLan
5) Lan
6) Display

If I really need something else which has to be instaled between the above mentioned ones, a link to it would be welcome since the site is down and I really want to get it running.

Hello there...

I am using Toshiba laptop(s) for some time now and i never really paid any attention to installation order while installing drivers.
Now i do some searching around this forum and found out that order "is" kinda important. or not?

Usually i just start like desktop pc's:
chipset, graphic and audio and then all the rest. ok, toshiba must have also that value addon but i never installed that in any specific order.

So, question is-where to find order for my present machine (a500-14q) and my future one (p775.10j)?

thanks a lot...

Hello everyone !

I would like to make a Clean Install of Windows 7.
I tried to dig some info about this subject and I found this topic :
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=248514#248514

A user is indicating a specific order for installing the drivers of the laptop. I tried to search for such info on the net but I did not find anything related to a driver installation order.

Is this true ?

Do I have to install drivers in a specific order ? What happens if I do not follow the order ?

Thank you in advance.

Answer:Qosmio X500 - Clean Install and right installation order

Yes it is true. Problem are not the drivers but Toshiba specific tools and utilities.
As far as I know this order list is available for older models but I think it is not available for newer notebook models.

Maybe someone here can help you with this.

It's been half a year since i reformatted, so i'm a bit rusty on this... XP has so many freakin updates and i know you need to install them in some certain order or else it doesnt work.. umm i think it's:

.NET Framework
The hotfix for .net framework
Then after those i get SP2
Java afterwards...
Are there other essentials i need to get for XP before i can move on to hardware drivers? Not sure...

Answer:general update/prog installation order for reformattin'?

First step:

Integrate SP2 into an XP CD and go from there. If you're installing vanilla XP or XP SP1 and then applying SP2 to that installation you're going to have problems. You need to integrate SP2 into a custom made XP CD so that from this point on you can install XP SP2 period in one fell swoop. If you're not going to do that or not willing to do that, there's not much more that can help you.

After you install XP SP2 properly (with that custom XP SP2 you should have made), then hit Windows Update and click Custom and see what other patches are available (Express won't list all the available updates for your hardware and installation - it will only show critical updates). Get the stuff that's necessary for your particular situation and then reboot as necessary. After the reboot go back to Windows Update and do an Express update because some of the stuff that the first Windows Update visits will then need to be updated again so the second trip back is necessary.

After that, do your chipset drivers first, then video, then sound, then go from there. Update Flash for the browser and then install the latest Java also.

Once the machine is nice and solid, my suggestion is image it using Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost - I really don't care what you use, but you should image it after all those updates and drivers so that if something happens afterwards, you can always start over again in a few minutes without the need to do all of that cr... Please provide me with: 1. the file names and 2. the  order in which to install them. I have installed Windows Pro 8.I have just read: Re: What Operating System would work well on Dell Latitude D630?topic=142488.0Which confirms that window 8 can be installed on D630.Thank you.

Answer:DELL LATITUDE D630 SOFTWARE INSTALLATION ORDER

If you have Windows 8, just insert the media and install it as per normal installation. You should not have to worry about what files are installed in what order. Drivers that you might need you could install after the Windows installation. You might need another computer with internet access to get the drivers you need as for if the Ethernet Adapter driver is not bundled in the Windows 8 installation then you will need another computer to get the necessary driver(s) for devices that require drivers beyond the standard Windows 8 installation.

Hi,

I'm trying to find a document that let's me know what order I should install my Portege R600 drivers and applications in, there used to be one but I can't seem to locate it anywhere.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Kind regards, Richard.

Answer:Portege R600 - Where can I find the installation order on Vista x64?

Hi

There are no ?special? installation instruction details but if you want to install the Vista 64bit drivers then I would recommend to start with the common drivers like:
-Chip Set Utility
- Display Driver
- LAN Driver
- Wireless Lan Driver
- Sound Driver
- Intel Active Management Technology (AMT)
- and so on...

Please note that the notebook supports the SATA HDD controller and you should install and include the SATA driver while Vista setup.
The SATA driver is a part of the Intel Storage Manager.

Could tech support please provide some details of the correct order to install drivers downloaded from Toshiba for a Satellite Pro L850-1DV for Windows 7?

Also, is there any other method to install drivers than to download and unzip the 44 separate drivers?
I recall there were 47 drivers installed during a recovery partition repair but 44 available for download.

I guess things like the recovery media creator software are not included in these downloaded drivers, or something else that's not included?
I would like to attempt an installation from Windows 7 media.

Could I also ask if anyone with an L850-1DV and the appropriate tools, like a Linux installation might be able to tell me the md5 checksum for the recovery partition on the hard drive. This would be fantastic!

Hello. I just bought a T410s with 4GB but as it came with 32bit Windows 7 Pro, I can only use 3GB.I need the whole amount of memory so I need to upgrade to 64 bits. The main question .Is the cost logical to go for a recovery media through Lenovo Support centre or should I go the custom installation path? If anyone knows in european prices the approx. cost I would be thankful. Thank you.

Answer:T410s to 64bit (4GB ram) - Order recovery media or custom installation?

Since you already have a Windows 7 Pro product key, you can legally download a 64-bit Windows 7 Pro ISO from Microsoft and give it your Windows 7 key found on the machine's underside. However, non-Lenovo installs don't have Enhanced Experience, so that'll be a point of consideration.Drivers are easy; you simply download the ThinkVantage System Update tool and it can download and install all of the necessary drivers in one simple procedure. You can find a more comprehensive hardware manual here:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-72739.html

I will be helping a friend with her R60e tomorrow, and will probably restore the factory image.  I'm assuming the drivers available at the time this particular model was shippedwill be installed with the recovery.  I'm also sure we will have to update new drivers, and understand there is a Lenovo program to assess/recommend updates.  Is there a preferred order to update the drivers?  Also, I'm also going to update Vista (presumably from the Microsoft update website), and will probably do that before updating the drivers. Any assistance, recommendations, suggestions would be helpful. TIA,Lisa

I acquired a Dell Optiplex desktop with Windows 98, but without Windows 98 installation disks.

It came without a hard drive. I installed a hard drive. Now, when it boots up, I get the ?Add New Hardware Wizard.? The wizard wants to search for a ?Standard Universal PCI to USB host controller.? I click next. I indicate that I want windows to search in its driver database and other locations.

Now, the Add New Hardware Wizard says it is now ready to install the best driver for this device. It wants me to insert the disk labeled Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM. I do not have this.

Two questions:
1. How do I get this computer to work with Windows 98? Would I have to buy Windows 98 to do that?
2. How could I get this computer to work with Ubuntu operating system?

Answer:Windows 98 Computer without Installation disks

Skip Win98 and go with the Linux option, IMO.

Just burn Ubuntu to a CD, boot off of the disc, and install Ubuntu. It guides you step-by-step through the installation.

If Ubuntu is too slow on it, you can always try Puppy Linux, or even Dam n Small Linux

I just assembled a new computer and when I'm installing Windows XP, it keeps restarting. After it copies the setup files, I create a partition and format the hard drive, then it starts to install it. About 40-60% into the installation, it restarts the computer. I don't know the exact percentage when it restarts since I do other things while it's installing. And when I try to start it up again, it's not booting windows so I go through the whole process again.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

I?m having trouble with my Windows 10 clean install. Once it installs it says it is resetting to complete installation, after it resets it will not load to the windows screen. It just loads bios and hangs with a prompt flashing on a black screen. I then used DISKPART to clean the disks and tried a new install in MBR and again in GPT formats, still the same result. What am I doing wrong? Are the RAID drives causing the problem? The machine was running fine before. I had a free upgrade from 7 and did the process of upgrading to 10 first before the clean install to activate the product. That went fine. I ran the hardware diagnostics from the BIOS and it failed the boot test with error code BIOHD3. Warning: No active partitions.

The machine is a HP with a

?HP: Cleveland-GL8 Motherboard
?Intel H67 Chipset
? Intel i7-2600
? 9GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs]
? 1TB RAID 0 (2 x 500GB SATA HDDs)
? 1GB DDR3 AMD Radeon HD 6570

Answer:Computer Will Not Boot After Windows 10 Installation

I don't have a solution, but some thoughts on the problem:

- Windows 10 must have been activated at least once after the upgrade. If that has been the case, it's fine. If not, your Windows 10 will not activate.
- RAID 0 basically only is an array of two independant discs. I don't know in how far that can cause problems.
- The information that you are missing an active partition matches what you say you see on bootup: Nothing happens as no drive is used.

I am no experts in fixing such bootup problems, but I would now check, if it helped to mark one of the primary partitions as active. If so, I would try doing that with the right partition and see, if it helps.

My brother just bought a new computer, but unfortunately it won't work. These are the specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2,4GHz
Inno3D Geforce 7950GT
ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium
2x1024 Corsair XMS2
520W Corsair PSU
WD 200GB SATA-300 HD

The computer starts fine and all and I boot on a Windows XP Professional disc. It loads everything and shows the EULA, which I accept.
The first thing I notice is, that it only shows 131GB unpartitioned harddrive space, while in the BIOS it did recognize it as 200GB. Nonetheless, I try to start formating. When it gets to 20%, it suddendly jumps to 100% and says something like "It wasn't possible to format. Your harddrive might be damaged. Make sure you install the SCSI drivers (or whatever it said)."

I just can't format, and I read that it might be because my boot cd doesn't have any SATA drivers on it, and since I don't have a floppy drive installed at the moment, I read it was possible to create a new boot cd. So I grabbed the drivers from the ASUS cd and used a program called nLite to integrate the drivers into the Windows installation and burned a new cd. However, my results didn't differ at all.

What is wrong?

Answer:Windows Installation failing on new computer

Hey bro,
So I'm guessing that youre Hard Drive IS in fact damaged. If you have another Hard drive just lying around, you should try to install on that one to see if windows will install on it. As for the 131GB of space on the windows installation, have you tried to change that in the BIOS? there could be a setting in there that is preventing it from seeing the full 200.

Can I take my drive with Windows 8.1 installed and put it into a new computer without reformatting? Do I need to deactivate windows first? Is activation tied to any hardware?

Also I have an additional RAID setup formatted by Windows 8. Will these RAID partitions work if I replace the hardware and/or reformat?

Hello Swatanter Welcome to SF,

I guess the problem might be with a Hardware component. You could download Ultimate Boot CD - Overview and run a complete Hard drive Diagnostic and Memory Diagnostic.

Hope this helps,
Captain

I have just installed windows xp service pack 3, followed procedues to the fullest extent. When I attempt to boot my computer, it make it to the Windows XP loading screen, frezzes, and hangs there until I hold the power button.

Answer:Installation of Windows XP SP3 Corrupts computer

One option: download this tool: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/XP_FixLogon.zip
This utility checks for the correct GINA value in the Registry and will allow you to restore it, if its incorrect.

You will need to download it from the computer your on now
Save it to CD (actually extract it first) or USB Flash drive (may not work)
Then go to Safe Mode (repeatively press F8 key on Windows startup)
Select Safe Mode
Run the fixlogon reg, yes import
Restart

I have Windows 7 x64 Enterprise installed on a slightly older mother board (Asus MB 775 Intel with 2 GB of RAM) and has worked well for a couple of years or so. I am passing this MB/CPU/RAM combo to my son's computer and have purchased an upgraded MB/CPU/RAM.

I've purchased an ASRock H61/U3S3 MB, 2x2GB RAM, Intel i7 2600. In swapping out the MB, I just attempted to plug my hard drive into this MB without doing any installation/upgrade. Unfortunately, when I plugged in the hard drive and turned it on, the computer froze on startup and more specifically, on loading the file CLASSPNP.SYS.

So I figured I would have to do a fresh install of Windows. I have an identical hard drive for mirroring and deleted the partition, created new one, formatted, then attempted the reinstall. I began the installation, it copied over all of the files, installed, restarted, then when it was starting it restarted (apparently prematurely). When it restarts after locking up, I receive the error:

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encounter an expected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click 'OK' to restart the computer, and then restart the installation." and so the loop goes on.

I've clicked OK many times, but without restarting the installation this error comes up each time. During the final stages of completing the installation of Windows, the computer appears to randomly restart. I'm pretty much stuck and will contact the store that sold m... Read more

Hi, I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone could help me? I recently built a computer and I would like to install windows 7 beta on it. However, I downloaded the windows 7 64bit from Microsoft on my older comp and burned it on a DVD +R. I then put cd in my new computer and well nothing happens. Computer literally does not detect it.

Any opinions, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I bought a Dell Optiplex GX260 for mother's day gift.
It came without an OS, can't figure out if hard drive or cd is to blame...

For awhile I struggled with "Media Test Failure Check Cable" issue, until I went into system settings and disabled NIC Integrated from boot menu. And I inserted my Windows XP home edition cd and booted from cd and started installation - all good.

My problem is once it finishes the first part of setup, it says it needs to reboot in order to finish installation. However, I'm back to where I started after this. If I boot from CD I'm back to the beginning of Windows installation. If I boot from hard drive, it goes to a black screen and then reboots. THanks in advance, I'm pretty upset because my mom was looking forward to using this computer and I can't even get it set up

Answer:No OS computer, Windows XP installation issue

Whenever I have that happen, I open the CD drawer and slide it back in. Usually takes off where it left off,.
