Preferred Solution: recover data from DVD-RW - accidently quick erased disc, help plZ!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Recover erased data

Hi There!

There are a couple programs that can recover data but you're gonna pay for it because they aren't cheap.

You might try searching out a "Data Recovery" company and for a fee, then can most likely get everything back.
Good Luck!

Hi, all.

It looks like I accidentally erased a CD-RW that had some personal information backed-up onto it. hehe

1. Is it possible to recover data from an erased CD-RW?

2. If so, is there some software that is recommended for the job?

It would take me quite a while to find some of the information elsewhere; so, I'm just trying to save some time here.

Your input is much appreciated!

Ok, last night I finaly got my server back up and running, well, in the process I accidently formatted one hard drive using the quick format, well.... It had several tax documents my mother needs, and hundreds of family pictures that we can't replace. Now I have a copy of Bart PE, tried that, it found all the data, but it refuses to let me copy it, what it does is tell me that I must have a licensed copy in order to copy the data... So does anyone know of anyway to get this data??? It is still there, but impossible to copy due to software glitchs or something...

Answer:Accidently formatted.... Trying to recover data...

With that much important information involved your best option is to head for a professional data recovery service and pay the fee over depending on any retail product that could be pointed out. A quick web search will find enough of those like Active Undelete for example.

The smart move would be to bring the HD in for them. This is their specialty there.

Hello everyone,
I had major partition problems and tried fixmbr, fixboot, etc and even rebuilding bcd was not working. I was misguided by one of the other Forums and entered:
DISKPART Select Volume 1
DISKPART Clean Volume 1
The Volume has been cleaned
[If it was to delete all data, I thought it would ask Y or N]
where volume 1 was my C drive. I had data on other drives. Immediately after this the computer hung and I was forced to restart. All this while the MBR was not working and I was on Windows 7 installation disc. Now it does not detect my Hard Disk or any of the Volumes and shows Hard Disk as 249 out of 249 Gb free. I have no choice but to go to Windows 7 Disc where there are no installations or data.
Of what I have read, this command only clears the Partition List..
While I was trying fixmbr, I even used gparted Live disc where it turns out that there is some "recursive" bug which was found.
Please help me, there is vital information on the disk as it is my office computer.
I need to recover all the data. Its very urgent. I have committed a huge blunder but is there way ?

Answer:DISKPART clean performed accidently. how to recover data?

Do not format the drive or do anything other than download and burn to CD free Partition Wizard, burn to CD using Windows Image Burner.

Boot PW CD by tapping the one-time BIOS boot menu key at boot, choose DVD/CD drive to boot.

Then follow this video for Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard - Video Help.

Hi, please help.

The computer is an HP a6400f, Windows Vista service pack 2
with a Western Digital WD5000 AAKS-65A7B0 drive.

Last year I started having problems with the wd5000 hard drive. I would get error messages and at startup the computer would show that it was scanning the files. I realized that maybe the drive was dying, so I figured out how to clone it to a new 1TB drive. Things had been ok with the new 1TB drive until last month. My dad had trouble with it and didn't tell me until windows would not even load anymore. I was heartbroken. I know I should have saved everything to some discs when I had the chance. Anyway, I used another computer to download a vista repair program, made a CD, and used the cd on the a6400f, but it didn't seem to work.

So since the new drive seemed dead, I had the idea to use the original hard drive I had cloned from (wd5000), and try to repair it and clone it again. So I plugged in the original drive, used the vista repair disc, and thankfully it was working even though it still says biohd-8 in the smart test. I was hopeful because the desktop would load, but the problem was that it would take forever to load. Yesterday I decided to wait however long it would take until the spinning cursor would go away and see if I could click on programs. It took a long time and everything was slow, but I was able to access the msconfig and check off some startups and services. Then I read online about chkdsk /r. So I tried that and when I s... Answer:How can I recover data from hard drive after using repair disc?

Hi and welcome,
You may be able to recover some files using testdisk (free and legal) but it depends how over-written they are. Guide here: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step inc how to run from within Windows.

In the meantime, use those drives as little as possible to improve chances of recovery.
You could try using a Linux o/s called Ubuntu to try to rescue files off the dead drive. Guide here http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/ the version of Ubuntu has changed so some screenshots may look different, but the method still works.

Hope this helps?

Answer:Popssible recover data from dead disc drive?

Hi Copas What drive is it the model would be enough info  . What happens when you try to access it, is it detected correctly in the bios and if not what is it detected as ?The best tool to check the drive is MHDD from here http://hddguru.com/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/Just for future reference freezing a drive is a No no. Knocking a drive is the same. The best way is to have all the software tools available. Check the computer and cables with a known good drive. If this is the first time you have used the software get familiar with it on a known good system first. Then attach the failing drive, listen, watch the bios identification of the drive, if either sound or look wrong turn the computer off. Until the drive is detected in the bios correctly no software except MHDD will be safe accessing the drive so don't try.If you come back with answers to the above I am happy to advise you of the steps you can take.ThankyouLisa_maree

Answer:Erased my entire NAS, how to recover?

NAS systems are Linux based and don't use Windows file format. Try attaching one to Linux based machine and then running a File(Linux) recovery software.Check your NAS manual or call technical support for advice.
Since you have 2 drives it makes the situation more complex. If you have a good, recent backup, you can restore the files from that. And if you don't have a good backup, the NAS manual and tech support don't help. If data is really important you can use data recovery services like Stellar to recover data.
ALl the best!!
and your data is worth spending a lot of money, you can use a data recovery service like Ontrack or DriveSavers. Just make sure they know what type of NAS system contained these drives and whether they were part of a RAID.

Hi. I'm not sure if this even belongs here but here's the problem.

Two weeks ago, the computer, an HP Compaq running WinXP died on me. It would turn on at all. So, we did a quick format of the hard drive to get the resolve the issue but we just created a bigger one. The wrong tab must've gotten selected because we erased the hard drive.

That's not what I was intending to do. I've done this before with other computers but this time, the wrong tab was selected.

I heard that if it was only a quick format then you can still recover the drive. Is there any way that I can recover the hard drive from home? It has items that are not replaceable on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Did a quick format and erased EVERYTHING!

There's a ton of "Recovery" products on the market. I've never needed any from a quick format problem. Hopefully someone can make a good recommendation since so many product claims prove to be false.

Hello!Currently I'm working on a library computer. This is my problem! I have downloaded a word file (that is my own) from my draft folder in e-mail. That file had to be edited. When I was saving it, I cannot remember whether I chose ''view'' or ''save'' option, because I might have thought I will only read it trough and not start working immidiately. Yet, I obviously have (hours went by), and I've finished the editing. It is possibly the file is only, as I mentioned, tempor. file in mozilla's 'downloads'.At one moment, I saved the changes, and saved the file, although I don't know where, closed it, and went for the book. After I came back to the desk, I couldn't find the file anywhere. When I downloaded the file again, same 'downloads' window appeared, and there is the old file that I worked in, in the bottom of the list, but now it won't open again. Is there any possible way to find somewhere my lost file? To recover it?I know this may sound unserious, but there are hours of work in it.I also hope I won't be annoying with this kind of problem and question, but this is important to me, as a lot of work is done in that doc.I know there must be some folder somewhere, where this type of files is stored, but I cannot find it.This is w xp library comp, just for info.I would appreciate some advice...Thanks

Answer:Cannot find a file, maybe is erased...ANY way to recover it?

I'd use the Windows XP Search function:Click on Start Click on SearchClick on For Files and FoldersSelect "All files and Folders" on the left options column.Enter the file name of your document followed by wildcard file extension type so your_document_name.* where you replace your_document_name here with the actual name of the document name. The drive to search should be C: , however it can be D: or any other drive letter if not a normal default windows installation on the library computer.Click on Search and wait for results to be found.Any files of yours found that match should be saved to a thumb drive to retrieve them.If nothing is found and nothing is in the recycle bin, its likely long gone, however you can inquire with the library as to if they have this system connected to a server that has shadowcopy enabled to recover your lost file as a last resort, but I am not aware of any libraries that save user data like this due to privacy policy. Corporations use shadowcopy to protect users from accidental deletion of files if enabled and implemented correctly. Most libraries that I have been in had well configured systems in which their user profile for the general public using the computers was set to delete data discarding changes and documents that were added/saved by a user on logoff or shutdown, so that nothing can be planted on the systems to clutter or allow a hacker to invade users privacy by planting a profile exploit if there was one.*If this compute... Oops, I erased a 1GB Lexar 40X CF card with live images, no backup. Erase was done by format in the camera, a Canon 10D. Any ideas how to recover the files, if possible? Thanks for any replies.

Answer:How to recover files from erased CF card?

You can use any file recovery software if the card can be attached as a disk drive. If your camera can't act as USB storage, then you have to use a card reader.

Zero Assumption Recovery ZAR is a nice tool that lets you recover images for free and I have recovered all images from a Canon-formatted CF with it. (The fscking camera didn't have a confirmation frompt for the format command!)

Hi!

My hdd recently crashed, erasing pictures that I´ve already moved from my camera (Digital IXUS 80). Now I want to recover them from the memory card. I have O&O UnErase, but my problem is that when I connect my camera to my computer running Win XP, it shows up as "Digital Camara IXUS 80", and not as an external drive, therefore O&O Unerase can´t recover anything from it.
Is it possible to make XP recognize the camera as an external drive (eg. F: )? Or can I use another program in this case?

Thanks.

Answer:Recover erased photos from digital camara

You need a media card reader which a lot of new PC's come with. You can also buy a multi-card reader that plugs in to your USB port. That may not allow you to "undelete: however. A memory card is not the same as a hard drive especially if you have used the memory card for anything else since.

I'm having difficulty recovering someone's Outlook Express emails and was hoping someone might have a solution to this (w/o the use of 3rd party apps):

The main OE mail folder and backup folders were accidently deleted. When they were deleted, a message said the Recycle Bin was full and "would you still like to continue deleting them"-or something like that. And they were deleted. Now I'm trying to recover those dbx's. I ran ActiveUndelete 5.1 and it found some dbx's-probably all the folders but they were empty when I brought them back into OE.

There are too many recovery email programs out there to run and test, so if someone can provide better help to get these emails back in OE, I would appreciate it!!! Thanks

There are several good ones, usually free, at www.majorgeeks.com. I can recommend, in their Data Recovery section, Restoration, Recuva, Recovery 4 All Pro but it costs $69, File Undelete (which is good if you are needing documentation for a client, and PC Inspector.
My favorite is one I cannot find at the moment called ABC Recovery. It is free for the first 30 days. Works great on internet files.
At www.tucows.com, look for Recover My Files, Restorer2000 Data Recovery, and a few others listed there... all good.

I'm not sure how to do this.

So when the disc is in, I can quickly open the playlists on the disc that will play the flacs from the disc.

Answer:WMP playlists burnt on data disc, playing FLACs on the data disc?

Before you try to play FLACs on WMP I would first ask if you've installed a plugin that'll make it possible? WMP can't normally play FLACs. I've never done it so I can't recommend one but there are supposed to be several free ones available online. Also, the playlist has to be in a format WMP can recognize. If it's not, create a new playlist form the files on your disk in WMP and burn it to your disk. Once those prerequisites are in place, if you still need help we can discuss opening the playlist and playing the files.

Answer:*Important* Accidently deleted volume in Disk Manager, how to recover?

Do not format the disk.
this would make your task more difficult or even impossible.

There are free partition recovery tools available on the net.

Question the deletion, was it your operating system or are you still able to boot into Windows. I have never been in this position but someone will post some software for you. Just don't muddle the disk any further.

If you are able to boot into Windows this link will give you an idea of what you are looking for. Hang on because I know some forum members have done this will be suggesting more software.

My dilemma is this: I had a friend send me a video he made on Windows Movie Maker which I tried to save on my computer. When I tried to move it to my desktop, I selected that it be moved into a zipped folder( which I honestly didn't know what that meant) and when I tried to erase the folder and start over, all my information, saved papers, documents, music, etc, was straight erased off my laptop. Even on Internet explorer all my favorites were erased. I have no idea what I did or what I could've done to prevent but I need help. Hi everyone I'm a newbie when it comes to laptops. I recently purchased a lenovo ideapad u510. I'm haivng trouble making a recovery disk. I'm not sure how to do it and I'm afraid I'm not going to do the right thing. However, my brother was using my computer thinking he knew what he was doing and erased the data that is on the SSD. My question is if the stuff on the SSD going to effect anything such as making a recovery disk or if I ever need to recovery my laptop.  update:I just realized that the lenovo partition was deleted is that bad? Thanks in advance.

Answer:What happens if the lenovo SSD data got erased?

hi Jfranc,

Welcome to the Forums.

The recovery partition is used to restore the unit from the factory condition (this may come in handy if you get a virus or simply just want to restore from the original image). If this image is gone, you may still create a recovery drive using this method.

As for the SSD, it's usually used as a cache drive. See these guides on how it works and how to reconfigure it.

Hi, please can anyone help? We lost the disc, and need to recover Windows on the laptop Sattelite A100-649.

Thanks!
Maggie

Answer:Re: Recovery disc lost - how to recover Sattelite A100-649 without a disc?

Satellite A100 is old notebook model and I think you cannot order it anymore.
What you can try is to install own WXP version. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find on Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

If you have more questions you are welcome.

I have a 30 GB apple ipod. Today i attached it to my computer and downloaded some music. I kept it on charge attached to the computer. After 1 hour, it made a beeping sound and the system did not recognise the ipod. The battery was fully drained out. Later, i charged it through a power outlet & loaded itunes on another system. On attaching the ipod to this system itunes gave me the following errors:
"itunes.exe
The file or directory/ipod_control/itunes/itunes DB is corrupt and unreadable. Please run chk dsk utility (check disk utility)"
It also said the following error :
"The file or directory ipod/ipod_control/Artwork/Artwork DB is corrupt and unreadable"
On ejecting the ipod i discovered to my horror that all my DATA IS ERASED.
When i copy new music to my ipod it copies but the ipod does not show any songs

What has gone wrong & help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, I did not do anything I wouldn't normally do with my computer. I did however recently update all my drivers/service pack1 because I was having problems which were resolved. (computer wouldn't hibernate, antivirus failed)

Today I turned my Toshiba laptop on, and It announced that it was configuring updates. I let it run and boot up, and my personal data is totally gone. Programs, things of that nature are intact, but anything else was erased. How could this happen? Is this a hard drive failure? Help?

Answer:Personal data totally erased.

I don't think your hdd has failed if everything is intact on the drive minus your personal data. What exactly do you mean when you say your antivirus failed? How did you resolve the failure? Have you since scanned your machine?

Hi there guys! After my wireless drama... I decided to switch back to Vista after few months with XP... The thing is, I put my a300 vista recovery CD and apparently the Toshiba Recovery CD erases ALL DATA on my hard drive...!!

Since I'm using XP now I cannot use the second option ie. system recovery so I have to use the 'out-of-box' recovery, which seems to erase all my data.

My hard drive has three partitions, the C one being the system partition. I only want to erase C and leave the other two safe for the sake of my data... but I chose the option that goes like 'erase only the first partition' and the procedure was terminated due to an error.

Is there any other way to install Vista using the recovery CD without formatting my D and E partitions?

Thanks for your help in advance

Answer:Using the A300 Vista Recovery CD without all data being erased

What was the Error Message exactly?

How big is C: Drive ?

If you have important data on D and E, you should backup your data anyway. You never know when a HDD could fail or when the file system could get corrupted.

Anyway, she is now panicking as it has got to the stage where she has been asked to enter the key. Please can anyone tell me is this too late to stop the reinstallation and revert back to the repair option?

The key of course should be on a sticker on her computer. If no sticker.....BIG Ooooops! I doubt if the procedure can be reversed.

My dad called an said that last night several updates were downloaded and when shutting down the PC the system apparently installed them.

This morning when he booted up the PC he said all user data was deleted, emails, desktop icons I imagine it looks like it does if one had created a new user account and then logged in with that account. As far as I can tell he is still logged in with the same account name and there are no other accounts to choose from.

any ideas with this one?

Thanks!

Answer:win 7 update apparently erased user data

No chance a Windows Update did that.....more likely, it's a malware infection, which is very prevalent these days. It makes everything on the desktop and Start Menu Hidden.

I would advise visiting our Malware forum on here and following the instructions for posting pertinent logs.

hi my frenz....i am trying to re install the window 7 with the system image disc. but i have a confusion that when i reinstall then only c drive data will be erased or my D and E drive data will also be erased?so please suggest me......

regards thank you

Answer:which drives data will be erased when installed with system image

When going to restore a full system image backup of the main drive if that was the only drive included in the image you select the drive it will be restored to. The drive selected will be wiped clean in order to unpack the image there and not touch anything on any other drive.

There are two ways to see C restored. 1) Simply go into the Control Panel>Backup & Restore section and select the "Recover system settings on your computer" option just as if you were going to use the System Restore feature but instead select the "Advanced recovery methods" option found on the next screen.(refer to image attached)

Once there you will see the two options for restoring a system image or the need for the 7 installation dvd. Once you select the System image option you may have to browse to the WindowsImageBackup folder depending on where it was originally saved to especially any drive letters were changed inbetween.

2) The second option is seen when booting live from the 7 dvd or USB Install Key many use and right as you reach the Install Now screen look below that button for the repair tools. One of the repair options will be the one for restoring an image backup.

Windows ME Computer has a CD-ROM in it, which shoud be able to read data from a disc. If I put in a data disc and go to my computer, it shows the D drive with the little disc and music notes by the disc. When you doubleclick it to open the CD it takes you right to windows media player. No matter what you do it always opens windows media player. I am helping a co worker of my wife with this computer. They must have had it working at one time cause they have games in the computer that probabaly came from discs. anyway, why does it bring up windows media all the time, why does it show the musical notes beside the disc in my computer? how can I get it to read a data disc? I removed her CD-ROM and hooked up an old burner I had and it installed and worked right away. I went to mycomputer and it showed the D drive with the disc but this time without the musical notes, I doubleclicked it and it brought up the data on the disc I had in right away with no problem. So, my question is, I will have to take my CD-Burner out of her computer and put hers back in. How can I get hers to see a data disc and not just a music disc? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Question: Recover Disc

My wife just bought an Acere desktop pc, with Vista Home Premium. She was told we could buy a Recovery disc for £15, or create our own on DVD. She decided we would make our own. I followed the procedure in Vista, and it took 3 DVD's. I put the first disc in, to see if it would start up a recovery process. Nothing. It seems that, if I go in to Vista's recovery program, I can recover from these discs. What if Vista messes up completely, and I can't get in? How do I read the discs if they're not self booting?

Possibly, but I would doubt it... You see those recovery CDs are only programmed to run with an HP product, using a certain kind of motherboard, etc. if yours isn't on the list of them when this was made, it might not work. The same goes for some other components.Flame

Alright, hoping someone here might have a suggestion for me.
My laptop came preinstalled with XP Media Center. I purchased it right when Vista came out, so i also received a free Vista Home Premium upgrade.
Now, I am not ready to deal with Vista as my native operating system, at least not until the SP is released and the bugs are worked out. SOOoooo, I decided I wanted to tool around with my VPC 2007, load Vista there, and check it out.
Problem is this: The vista disk will only upgrade (understandably) the OS on this PC. So I tried to run the recover disk (that came with the PC) in the VPC. It's starts to load, but then pops up a huge box saying "WRONG MACHINE!".
So how do I convince the recovery disc that it IS on the right machine? Thanks for the help!

I am about to give my 3000 c200 to my nephew, so I would like to factory restore my notebook. I have not created a Recovery Disc before (or perhaps I have lost it). I just tried to create one earlier, but the computer said I 'do not have the necessary files' in my computer to create the recovery disc. So the Lenovo Create Recovery Disc software just quit when I click 'Ok' to the above message without doing anything. I would like to know how could I create a recovery disc then? Or can Lenovo send one to me?

Answer:Cannot create recover disc

hi leosesk,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

If you followed this guide to create your factory default recovery disc and got that error, you may try to trigger the One Key Recovery button to restore the unit to factory default. See One Key Recovery outside Windows. If this fails, you will need to contact Lenovo Technical Support (click here) to get a recovery disc.

Hope this helps.

Good evening.

I have difficulties re-installing my Win7 on a Satellite L555 Laptop.
Last week I cought a "system check" virus, which allegedly could be removed by anti virus-software and a trojan remover. But to make sure that infection is without any residue I wish to format the HDD and re-install Win7.

Having an original Toshiba recovery-disc I hoped for an easy installation, but neither changing the BIOS-settings (inspite of the changed settings it booted normally via HDD instead of recovery disc) nor a Windows based recovery turned out successful. In the latter case I was told no valid Windows installation disc would have been found -despite having the recovery disc inserted and retrying it several times. Drive and disc are fine, I coul access them through Windows.

What can I do now? Why does Windows not accept the original recovery disc?

Additional Info: I had the HDD changed a few weeks ago, the new one came via snail-mail and I could easily install Win7 on it - from that very recovery CD that is now denoted by "invalid"...

Regards,
UH

In the whole story this question confuses me. Why should Windows accept recovery disc?

Start your notebook and press F12 several times. You will enter boot menu. Put recovery disc into optical disc drive. In the menu choose CD/DVD drive and press ENTER.

Hi

My NB200 11L is not booting properly. I don't have a recovery CD. I saw that Toshiba US offer a download service for recovery discs but couldn't find this service in UK toshiba website. Am I looking in the wrong place or could anyone help me get hold of a recovery cd?

When I try to boot the notebook from a Windows Xp installation CD I get the following error message:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message. disable the driver och check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use a safe mode to recover or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select SAfe Mode.

I have deleted 'windows.old' as I know that was created from a previous re-install, but there is still a lot missing.

Answer:Recover disc space before re-install

During re-install you will be given the option to remove\delete existing partitions, and re-create them. This will likely reclaim the missing space.

My laptop currently has a EFI System Reserved partition that I am trying to replace with the "typical" NTFS System Reserved partition (EFI is not supported under Ghost 15). Using recdisc.exe I have created a repair/recovery disc. The disc won't boot. I now have 2 coaster.

I have non-OEM (i.e. "retail") copies of Windows 7 SP1 on both CD and Flash, but both the repair console for both of those say it is not compatible with the version of Windows 7 installed.

NOW WHAT ?

Answer:Repair/recover disc won't boot

You'd have to back up and Clean Reinstall Windows 7 as EFI uses GPT disk initialization while Legacy BIOS uses MBR disk.

This also requires the BIOS has CSM or Legacy BIOS enabled, possibly Legacy BIOS first to boot. Set the hard drive first to boot in BIOS then trigger the DVD as a non-UEFI device if offered the choice when booting it. Delete all partitions to allow the installer to reset the disk type. If this fails, wipe the boot code using the commands in Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums.

Report back results along with exact UEFI settings choices if there are still hurdles.

I am in the process of making a DVD of our summer holiday, our camcorder is a new one we bought a Sony HDR-CX130E. The manual says the discs that can be used are DVD-R and DVD+R. The DVDs I have already at home from previous disc burning is DVD-RW. Is that the same thing? Would it be OK to use them? What's the difference?

Answer:a quick question about which disc to use

If it doesn't list DVD-RW as compatable, they probably
aren't going to work or wont work properly.
DVD-RW disks are erasable.
-R and +R disks are not erasable.
I have had the best compatability with DVD players
by using DVD+R disks, but that also depends on the
format the camcorder is recording the video in.

Question: Quick reatore disc

HELP, i cant get the quick restore disc to work on my presario 700, whne insterted into the disc drive i get no warning message and nothing happens HELP HELP, i need to get it restored by saturday night 5/14/05 as i am leaving on a bussiness trip and need to get on the internet to communicate back to the office PLEASE HELP PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE

Answer:Quick reatore disc

Maybe the CDROM has died? Do any other CD's work in it?
If you're lucky it might just be a dirty lens, a CD lens cleaner and a can of compressed air will usually fix that.
Is your system set to boot from CDROM first? I think you need to boot from the CD to do a quick restore - check your BIOS settings.
Why do you need to do quick restore?

First off I am not at the programs own forum cos I cant recall either my pword or username so cant login or re-register. Secondly, you guys here will give me an unbiased opinion. I use a freeware version of a well-known file erase program. I have used it for years and thought I was safe. However, needing to recover accidentally deleted (not erased) files I used the recovery program from the same company. As well as the deleted files it turned up a whole load (all? I dont know, there were hundreds) of files that I had intentionally erased. including 7-pass and 35-pass erasures. At first my reaction was - "this program does not work as advertised", then "hmm, it it because of the way I am doing it?" When I have files to erase I move them to a temp folder and when convenient run the program. Does this mean that I am somehow creating a copy which stays in some archive or memory and it is these that are being recovered? Another odd thing: Using the file recovery tool I have "recovered" files that were never even deleted - but they were opened in grafix programs and altered, but NEVER deleted. Do these programs create their own library of used files and then "delete" them when the program or the pc is shut down? If I overwrite empty drive space with any old rubbish will that "sanitize" the drive? Thank you.

Answer:Solved: I can recover "erased" files and files I have never deleted

How do I go about making a recovery disc for my A210 (PSAFJE-003003KS), according to pc world it should have come with a disc, but it didn?t, and although there is one on the harddrive i'd like to have a physical one as my laptops been acting up lately.

Answer:Re: How to recover the Equium A210 - Don't have recovery disc

Hi

I think your notebook supports the HDD recovery!
Therefore it should be possible to perform the Recovery procedure without an usage of the Toshiba Recovery Disk.

Just press the F8 button immediately after notebook was powered up.
Then choose ?Repair my Computer? -> new window should open.
There you have to choose last option called ?Toshiba Recovery? and follow the instruction on the screen.

Please note that this procedure will set the notebook back to the factory settings and will format the whole HDD!!!

Regards

I'm on an HP laptop that originally came with Windows Vista. At some point a while back, I purchased Windows 7 online and upgraded the OS by download--meaning I don't have any physical installation discs.

Now I would like to some how recover this computer to it's factory settings, to wipe all installed programs and files, but I would prefer not to be downgraded back to Vista. Is this possible?

I don't believe I made recovery discs while Vista was installed either. Is it possible to recover the computer at all?

Thank you for any feedback

Hi everyone! I am very new here, Still learning(at least trying) all about computer tech! Thank you for reading!

* I have a Asus L4L, XP,

Few days ago, my laptop I think crashed. I was trying to recover it by using the recovery disc but it failed me.

Before I say anything. I have to admit that I was very very stupid that I didn't back up my files... and there are many important photos of my father whom passed away 3 years ago....so here I am asking for your help...

I wanted to save all my file under D: so I chose to recover with recover to first partition only.

First time I tried, in the middle of the recovery it showed > PowerQuest PQImage window and wanted me to insert media 2 containing file"Y:\ASUS.002 into drive Y" OK or No ( I don't believe i have the kinds of disc anyway)after I pressed OK then it showed, The media does not contain the file. But if I press No then it stop reccover. I had to reboot from that point.

Then I tried it again it showd error#1822, Error: No partitions selected...

I tried it with the XP disc, same thing happened.

Then I tried reboot to window xp, it showed rebooting to windows XP then C:\PQER....

I am really lost and have no idea what's happening with my laptop. I really need your help!

Thank you so much!

Blue.

Answer:Asus Laptop can't recover using the recovery disc!

Probably not what you want to hear, but if you are not familiar with reinstalls etc, and the pics are important, pehaps try a data recovery company first to get the images. The reason why I say this is I lost a whole partitioned drive of core files, by which I mean my PhD work once exactly through this infernal process, a reinstall in one partition made both partitions unreadible. I wish I had not messed with the drive and thought a bit more about the process at the time and got the data off first. Luckily I had backed most of my data up.

My Pc, Is Full Of Useless/Corrupt Stuff Now.

It Crashes Regularly.

I Have Formatted The Secondary Partition Without Problems, But To Format The Primary, You Need The Windows Disc.

Is There A Way Of Formatting Without Windows Discs Or Expensive Third Party Programs?

Answer:How Do You Format An XP Hardrive, Without The Installation Or Recover Disc?

Yes but the question is How are you going to re-install windows?

Try this but read about it and learn how to use it:

GParted - Gnome Partition Editor

Answer:Re: Satellite A200 fails to recover from disc

Do you use this recovery disc for the first time now?
Is disc in good condition or is there some scratch on the surface?

Installed a new Hitachi 500g as my hardrive has failed. Lenovo has sent me two different sets of recover discs and both have an identical problem. Everything installs as expected up to the point where it says "insert disc 3", which is the so disc. Once I insert the disc and click  "OK" to continue the "OK" button just pops up again and I click it and it pops up again and never moves forward. An ideas? The lenovo shell that that lists the steps of the install (install onekey, create d partion, etc..) is stuck at C:\PRAVDA\Crisscrossed 52999

Would like to create a restore drive, cd, dvd, etc .in case this machine gets corrupted severely and would need the drive wiped clean.
How to find out how large of a hard drive , or thumb drive to get,
How to do it.
Does it save all the files and favorites places.

Answer:recover, create recovery disc or hard drive

I think what you are looking for is a full backup of your computer in case something goes wrong.
Is this what you want to do?
