IE11 Update/Install Issue - Trying to Upgrade to IE11

Question: IE11 Update/Install Issue - Trying to Upgrade to IE11

Good Afternoon,

I am running into issues trying to upgrade to IE11. It looks like there are several issues in my CheckSUR Log, but I am not sure how to fix them. I have ran SFC /scannow a couple times and no errors have been identified. I have been having this problem for a couple months now and have just been using Chrome. I have also had several issues with the Aero Effects and Themes as I have to troubleshoot that multiple times a day.
I am receiving error code '3FD' from Windows Update regarding IE11.

Attached is my log.

Thank you in advance for your help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: IE11 Update/Install Issue - Trying to Upgrade to IE11

hello and welcome skohon now personally I would download IE11 Download Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 from Official Microsoft Download Center - it says on my machine I already have it if yours does the there is something quite wrong.

If it is not on your machine then you save the above to downloads and then do what is in this Install or uninstall Internet Explorer - Windows Help

I have done this myself on odd occasions and it saves you having to muck around with updates.

First you might like to run this though in safe mode if necessary
Disk Check and run the /f and /r switches if necessary.

I have 7 email accounts on our Exchange server for different business and personal roles.  I have always used OWA instead of Outlook to segregate accounts on my desktop.  For quick logins I have been using "Keyboard Express"
Macro program  to insert USER and PASSWORD into OWA.   With some update applied in December 2015, Keyboard Express no long works on most of my Macro hotkeys because the IE hotkeys have taken precedence.  Such as ALT-H and other.
This same think happened to IE11 when I ran the Windows 10 upgrade 2 months ago, so I restored Win7 with a disk image to get rid of Window 10.
Is there a way to assign precedence between a Macro Program and IE11 Hotkeys ?

I recently was having issues with ie10 hanging and then getting the message about recover webpage.  So I did a factory recovery to original build 8.0, and then upgraded to 8.1 and along with that came ie11.  It still hangs, not often but more than I feel it should.  I have Chrome installed and it works fine on all the same websites.  I really would like to fix this issue as it is my neighbors machine and she wants to use ie11.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi

Joined forums specifically for help on a friend's Toshiba laptop on which I am typing this post. It has Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit installed and Internet Explorer 11.

The problem began after installing the latest cumulative update for IE11 but I have found by going back to previous cumulative updates that the problem first presents itself after installing KB3175443.

(My friend neglected updates for some time. Along the way to find root of the problem I've uninstalled/reinstalled IE11 and then installed earlier cumulative updates to find the culprit)

The problem is that when IE11 is opened all looks ok, homepage loads fine, but then another window opens which is blank except for Internet Explorer 11 at the top (no X to close or anything). Moving the cursor over the blank window, the cursor changes to a pointing finger in places, but being blank I have no idea what is being offered to click on. Because this window is active, sitting on top of the normal IE11 window, I can do nothing with IE11. The only way out is to open Task Manager and use end task to close IE11.

I'm fairly certain it is virtually the exact same problem as was posted here except that in my case the window that pops up is blank.

(Am I right that the linked thread is marked as solved despite receiving no replies? Does that mean that member solved it but never posted the solution, or am I missing something?)

I think the person here had the same problem too. (That link seems to open with an overlayi... Read more

Answer:IE11 pop up window issue after KB3175443 update.

Is the Pop Up blocker set to high, does that have anything to do with it ?

Did IE 11 behave normally after reinstalling, without any updates ?

I`m checking to see if I installed that update, I don`t use IE, but I just checked and it seems fine.

I do not have that update installed and it is not in my list of hidden updates.

How old is the install on that PC, any idea at all ?

I have been having a problem installing Internet Explorer 11 on Win 7 64bit, the problem started a few days ago when it tried to automatically install as part of the Windows Update, the machine rebooted then got to stage 3 of 3 in the windows update then failed with a message that said reverting changes, it then took me to the login screen I popped in my password to login to the desktop and the desktop would not load instead I was faced with a Black screen, I left the computer for about an hour and nothing had changed, I managed to get back into the computer by going into the System repair and using system restore.

My Security is Norton IS 2014 and Trusteer Rapport, the computer is a HP G5200uk running Windows 7 64bit

Since then I have tried the following

Ran Chkdsk
Ran SFC / Scannow - Found and fixed errors
Ran System Update Readiness
Reset Windows Update Components (using Tweaking.com all in one repair)
Downloaded IE11 manually and installed  - Same Problem
Clean Boot - Same Problem

Since then I have managed to install other updates fine a hotfix was installed yesterday and also installed Office 2010 Service pack 2 today which again was fine there just seems to be a problem with IE11

I have uploaded the IE11_Main.log and also the CBS.log which was too large to attach to the post so have uploaded it to dropbox (link below)

Answer:Cant install IE11 - Windows Update Reverting Changes

If you go to the Control Panel and click on Uninstall a program it will open with the option View install updates.  Click on this and see if IE11 is listed there with the date that you last installed it.  Also check to see if there is more than one installation of IE11.

Hello to all the Forum helpers here. I have a problem with Windows Update trying to install IE11. When I built the comp I had IE8 installed. Apparently Windows Update has tried to install IE11. I don't usually use IE for browsing, since it is usually slower and a clunker, so I didn't give much thought when it "Updated" and didn't know it was trying to update IE from 8 to 11. As I have been searching this issue, apparently, I didn't uncheck the "Automatically Update to newer version of Internet Explorer" in help/about. Apparently it was coming through updates as "Important Updates"? to automatically download & install? I would like to have IE working again as some websites do not work properly without it. Have had serious issues with IE in the distant past when running 98se. I'm new to this forum and haven't used mspaint in years to try and post screenshots. Please be patient with my responses. Thank you.

Answer:Had IE8 now Win Update tried to Install IE11 and doesn't work.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Change your windows update settings,

Uninstall ie11,

Hide the ie11 update,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24376-windows-update-hide-restore-hidden-updates.html
I would suggest upgrading to at least ie10 but at the very least ie9,
ie9 download select your windows version and language,

With most issues your best option is to reset,
Reset process first opening Internet explorer

MS sneaks Win 10 Upgrade Spam in IE11 Security update

If you want the code execution patch for IE11 you are SOL you have to get the spam part too.

This broke my trust with Microsoft. If this was greenlighted, I wonder how long it will be before we are required to install W10. I mean who in the right mind at Microsoft green lighted putting it in an internet explorer update to bypass current blocks on the upgrade?

anyone seen this one?
on booting up 8.1, lenovo z410, the first few attempts to use IE11 from the desktop fail. "cannot open page".
connection troubleshooter produces nothing.

go to APPS > IE and it works fine.

after using chrome and the tile app for awhile, IE11-Desktop will gain coherency and start working.

is there a way to reinstall the desktop side?

this is a clean install with little/nothing loaded on it, about to be deployed for real work so its important.
I've never seen this issue before on 7/8 so kinda lost/bewildered

Answer:IE11 Desktop fails connection. IE11 Tile App succeeds

Maybe can not get that page immediately, try setting blank page for start-up. (about:blank) and than as a start page.

The browser seems to be working OK, but

When I open the Group Policy Editor it says:

Resource $(string.Advanced_EnableSSLFallback)
referenced in attribute displayName could not be found.

File C:\windows\PolicyDefinition\inetres.admx, line795, column 308.

And there is no longer any settings for Internet Explorer under the User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components as there were with IE9.

A search says something about two files inetres.admx and inetres.adml .

Anybody have a solution to this problem?

I have been unable to get Windows update to install Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2872339) and Internet Explorer 11 for many months. I currently have IE9. The Update window use to include IE10, but that no longer is listed even though the computer is running IE9.

I've tried all the fixes I can find on the interent. Nothing has worked.

I tried downloading KB2872339 from the Microsoft website. When it tries to install it, I get the message that it is not applicalbe for my machine.

Just to confuse the issue, when Windows update runs, it states that KB2872339 was successful, only to have it listed again that it needs to be installed.

Any help woukd be appreciated.

John

Answer:Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2872339) & IE11 will not install

well; if i were you; do not install ie11; as ie11 is really designed for windows 8; and will get rid of any gadgets you have in 7 and cause other problems. I had that problem with 11. I installed it only to find out that my gadgets were gone. To resolve the issue i uninstalled 11 and went back to 10. You should still be able to find 10 on microsoft's site somewhere. As for the security update; make sure it says whether or not its designed for 32 or 64 bit windows 7; as ive had updates come up via the update; that i thought were designed for my version of 7; but ended up being for the other one for some reason. Also; as for it not installing; i would read what the error says and click on more info and see what the page for it shows.

This is on a friends Lenovo B520 running Windows Home Premium 64 bit.

I've found that this PC has been failing to install updates for some time now. It's still running IE9 - I can see previous failed attempts at installing IE10 and now it's failing to install IE11 in the Windows update control panel.

I've run the SURT and sfc /scannow

The CHECKSUR.log lists 127 corrupt MUM and Cat files but I'm unable to locate good versions of these to start attempting repairs. I've attached just the log files from the CBS folder as including the CABs meant the attachment was too large.

Thanks for any help you can give.

logfiles.zip

Answer:Windows update fails to install IE11, error 9C57

Here's the summary from the CheckSUR log...

Code:
Summary:
Seconds executed: 4517
Found 254 errors
CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 127
CBS Catalog Corrupt Total count: 127
Luckily, they all appear to relate to one update - or I'd have been reluctant to attempt anything short of a repair install.

The SFC results appear to have rolled off into the Persist files - please post the two latest CBSPersist files so I can take a look at them.

I'll post a fix for these file later (maybe tomorrow, though)

Hey guys so I tried installing internet explorer 11 via windows update. It said the download had been successful so I restarted my computer opened the browser and saw nothing had changed. It was still internet explorer 10 so I checked the installed updates list and it wasn't listed. So then I went back to windows updates but now I cant even find it there. No error code or anything came up so im wondering if anyone else has had this issue and was able to solve it?

Answer:Windows IE11 update downloads successfully but doesnt install.

Your forum system specs do not specify which bit level of Windows 7 you are using. 32bit or 64bit?

Try downloading this stand alone installer for IE11 from Microsoft:
32bit
64bit
Use the 64bit link if you are using a 64bit version of Windows 7.
Use the 32bit link if you are using a 32bit version of Windows 7.

I have a number of .mht files created some time ago (approx 2 years) with IE11 (.mht files are a specific IE format for saving a web page as a single file).
Now IE11 won't work with these files. IE just gives the message "Internet Explorer has stopped working".
But if I load the files onto an old XP machine (with IE7), they load absolutely fine.
I'm guessing that some (security) changes have been made to IE11 that have affected its workings.
I've googled for a solution / ideas, but no joy. Anyone here got any thoughts?

Hi there

This post might be a bit "Geeky" so skip if you aren't interested.

I downloaded a FREE Laptop trial version of SAP (a great learning tool for perhaps one of the largest ERP companies out there) to test and learn a bit about the programming language used by SAP (Called ABAP). The software is FREE and the licence can be automatically renewed for 90 day extensions "ad Infinitum" so this is in NO way "Mickey Mouse" software.

Since some independent consultants who have any knowledge at all of this stuff can currently earn anything from 700 - 2,000 EUR a day it seems a good platform to do a bit of Home training on.

The download (ABAP 7.5 Netweaver) can only run on a Linux Host but it installs essentiallly with "1-click"

SAP Development Tools

Now you install the front end (or the GUI --SAPGUI) on a Windows system --no problem there either.

problem is when I use any application that requires launching the web browser - I get Certificate error --not a problem as you can skip that although strange that it regards my local intranet - i.e the Linux system where I've hosted the SAP system as having a potential security problem with the certificate.

OK you can click go to website -- no problem.

Windows 10 just pops a login screen but won't do anything -- with a message in the status line "Javascriptvoid(0)"
Windows 7 works fine

I am having an issue that it looks like many other have run into trying to upgrade from IE8/9 to 10 or 11. Other Windows Updates go through fine but anytime I try to install IE 10 or 11 via Windows Update or from the offline installer it fails with the error 9C59.

A little backstory on this in case it helps.... We have a VDI environment so this is on our gold image. Months back we updated IE8 to IE9 but found that we were having compatibility issues with an internal web app and had to downgrade back to IE8 (via uninstalling the IE9 installed update). It appears that I can still re-install IE9 but anything beyond that fails with the info above.

I've tried many of the suggestions out there such as reinstalling the readiness tool, resetting windows update agent, etc but no luck so far. The interesting thing that I found is if i start fresh with this update again (so i start with IE8) , the "turn windows features on / off" shows IE 8 as an option to toggle on/off. However after I try the IE11 install and it fails, i still have IE 8 installed but the "windows features on/ off" window shows IE11...so its almost like it ALMOST gets there and fails.

Either way, if theres any help someone could have for this I'd greatly appreciate it! i'm happy to try and scans / logs that might help

thank you

andrew

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Windows and IE are [still] deeply intertwined.
"There are many components that constitute the [IE] browser. Most of the components are part of the operating system..."
Applications other than Microsoft's IE can, and do, call on those components to display HTML or execute scripts. "If you aren't upgraded to the current version of IE, you won't be able to apply the current security updates. This could result in some Windows components not being serviced..."
http://www.computerworld.com/article/3021824/web-browsers/microsoft-upgrade-to-ie11-even-if-you-dump-our-browser.html
Bottom line:   Update to IE11 (on systems which allow it; e.g., Windows 7) even if you "dump" it in favor of Firefox, Palemoon, Chrome, Opera [or some other alternative browser].

but the installation fails.
Somehow my issue seems similar to the one described here

Could you please take a check if there are any updates installed for IE9/11? If any, please uninstall them all and then reinstall the package.

2)

Also please take a check to see if there is a IE 11-neutral.Downloaded.cab available under the C:\Windows\TEMP\IE1F09A.tmp\ folder when installing the packages. If yes, please copy the special file to a full access folder and run

I have been notified by several websites that I should upgrade to IE11, because my IE10 ceased being supported on Jan 16, 2016.  I have attempted many times to upgrade to IE11 by following the instructions from Windows.Microsoft.com.  Every time, part way through the installation, a message pops up:  "Internet Explorer did not finish installing.  For more information, see the Internet Explorer Troubleshooter.  This link is also on your desktop for later reference."

The IE troubleshooter says to make sure I have sufficient memory, etc., and that I have all the Windows Updates.  I have done all this many times, and IE11 will still not finish installing.

Computer and system information is attached, along with the Windows message pop-ups.

I would appreciate your advice on how to upgrade to IE11 from IE10.  Thank you.

Answer:Cannot upgrade from IE10 to IE11

Are you attempting to install from your desktop...or trying to install via Windows Update?  I suggest installing from the desktop, after downloading the correct version (either 32-bit or 64-bit)..

Hello,
I am facing dropdown issues in IE11. We are migrating from IE8 to IE11, the same dropdowns work fine in IE8. I
have 2 issues with IE11,
1.
When I am clicking on my dropdown list, all the values are coming fine
in all the older versions of IE but not in IE11. After I am selecting a particular value, next time when i am clicking on my dropdown, the values before the selected
values are displayed above the dropdown area.
Example, if I have 4 values in my dropdown, after selecting 3rd value from the dropdown, next time when I am clicking on it to change the value, list dropdown is opening
vertically upwards from 3rd option, instead of downwards. I know that this is the default behavior of IE 11 but want to know how to override it to make it look as in older versions of IE.
2. DropDown is going out of the web page, and there is no scrollbar. it displays all the dropdown values at once without a scroll bar that's why the list is getting bigger
and going out the page. Is there any way to get horizontal and vertical scroll bar.

I have googled a lot for a proper solution but didn't find any, please help me out. Thanks in advance!

Not sure where this bug is coming from, I'm guessing it's limited to IE11, since I don't have this issue when using Chrome. Out of 3 Windows 8.1 systems, this is the only one that is having the issue. Oddly, this system has only been installed(fresh, not upgraded) for about 2 weeks, so it's pretty clean. So far, no problems with Youtube, Vevo or Hulu, just Netflix, which I'm guessing is due to a security feature of IE11.

The basics are this, I start a video, I can see it starting to que up, then the entire screen (not just the web browser window) turns to static (like the old Antenna TVs)I can hear the video playing in the background, but the video never clears up.

Again, since it's works fine under chrome, I'm guessing it's an IE11 bug, but can't find any settings that fix it. I've tried the usual series of driver updates, but no luck there either.

Try opening the page using IE desktop mode (not the metro UI), then hit F12 to bring up the debug window. Experiment with different document modes or user agent strings. If you find one that works, keep the debug window open and minimize it. I have encountered some streaming sites have not adjusted to IE11. The MSNBC live stream, for example, requires a change to the document mode to make it play.

Question: IE11 update for w7

on windows update on our w7 starter netbook keep getting importatant update IE11 for w7 downloads ok but will not install tried sevral times over several days no joy. other updates are ok.
wondering if its not suitable for for a netbook but if so why is it auto windows update?
use chrome as default browser but like to have all running smoothly.

Answer:IE11 update for w7

Do you mean it is the update to IE 11 which will not load. ie are you still running IE 10 and trying to update to IE 11 or is it an update for an existing IE 11 already installed. IE 11 runs fine on my netbook, an original Samsung NC-10.

No matter  how many times I have tried to install IE11, it says I need an updated, but all updates are either already on my computer or not required.  I am running Windows 7, SP1, 64 bit and can only get IE9 installed.

A few months ago I wrote about problems with my IE11 and was told to revert to IE10 because IE11 was not 100% stable yet. So I have been using IE10 since then. There is one particular site (CBC News - Latest Canada, World, Entertainment and Business News) that insists on wanting to install Adobe Flashruntime every time I visit it with IE10 and I was wondering whether the need for IE11 had anything to do with it. I get no such message when I visit the same site with Chrome or Firefox.

I was wondering whether it is relatively safe to reinstall IE11 now; has it been fixed?

Answer:IE11 - to install or not

Hi,
Probably just your flash player settings or global setting,
You can make sure your at least using the current version of flash,

But ie11 is working quite a bit better,

have a 2012r2 remote desktop server with IE11 and embedded flash player, with the January update.

Although there is a march update to the flash player this is not recognised by windows update. When I downloaded the update from the catalogue it refused to install.

I think at one time someone had tried to install a non-emebdded flash player, this has been removed via "add remove programs"

Any idea how I can get this server to update to most recent version?

Hi,

I have windows 7, IE10.
When trying update to ie11 I got an error something with c947, so I tried to go to the basics and remove IE completely (control panel->uninstal programs->

uninstall updates->unistall windows internet explorer 10) and got an error (without a specific number).
Quick googling led me to make an sfc/ scannow which informed me I have corrupt files but it can't fix them. I then tried to remove these KB:

How do you fix corrupted files found by SFC /SCANNOW?

Didn't help.

I then tried to safe mode and to Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth bot to no avail (error 87 not recognized command in this context).
Not sure what's next and would appreciate help.
thank you very much.

Answer:Can't upgrade IE10 to IE11. Can't uninstall IE 10.

IE 11 can be downloaded by running windows update or downloaded here.

Have you tried both ways ?

Hi,

i'm having problem problem with upgrading IE9 to IE11 on our 100 Windows 7 x64 Polish version virtual machines. All these machines were deployed from one image i believe. They have limited internet access.

All prerequisite updates from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2847882 are installed, but still installation fails:

In IE11_main.log you can find  ERROR:   Neutral package installation failed (exit code = 0x00000002 (2)).

Googled it, but hadn't found any working solution.

I also have tried installing IE11 via cmd:

As you can see, there is dism error 0x80070002. Googled it, nothing works.

Futhermore, i cannot even manually uninstall IE9 from updates, maybe this is the culprit?

Uninstalling IE9 via this cmd also doesn't work:

I downloaded IE11 from Microsoft and executed it. It gets about 40% of the way across the ribbon in the "Installing Internet Explorer" window when it aborts and says "Internet Explorer did not finish installing".

I checked the troubleshooting page but nothing helped.

NOTE: I sometimes have trouble installing some programs -- "you don't have access" is the kind of message I get. Sometimes I can install a program if I switch to the admin account.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Thanks.

Answer:Cannot update IE10 to IE11

Not too long ago Gregrocker was so very kind and totally did a reinstall of my Windows7 Home Premium Edition 32-bit for me. It was a complete disaster and he had magical fingers and fixed my laptop so it felt like it was brand new again. I had my IE back of which I didn't have before and he set my laptop up for me so I wouldn't have any problems. And I was extremely grateful for everything that he helped me with.

Well I'm back again with problems once again with this stupid IE. I personally switched from my GoogleChrome on the words from Greg that it just wasn't as good as Microsoft. So I gave it a try and I've been using FireFox ever since then...I don't even go into IE ever...and the updates were set up for automatic...so I really didn't have to worry about that either or so I thought...BUT...I had to go into IE for work related stuff and when I went in there that's when I noticed everything looked all messed up. I don't even have a front page everything is white and over on the right it looks like a different language of which I have no idea which one...I tried to go into my windows updates to see what was installed and saw that IE11 was installed with a ton of other items as well...and reading in the Microsoft post about all this I hi-lited IE11 and uninstalled it and it took me back to IE10 but I still have all these problems that I don't know how to explain nor how to fix. So where do I go or how do I start fixing this in dummy mode
Any suggestions would be great.

Here's the latest instance of the unsolvable failure to install Internet Explorer 11. It's on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine.

The failure happens after the Windows Update Troubleshooter is run.

Hello again, I just recently updated from IE9 to IE10 and then to IE11 and I went back to IE from Google Chome because it seems to save battery power, my problem is I want to install the yahoo toolbar and I get it as a .xpi file and if I try to go do google toolbar it tells me that my browser is not supported, how can I fix this so I can have toolbars and by the way the bing bar works just fine

Answer:can't install toolbars from IE11

That is one of the issues with new version of practically any browser but especially Internet explorer,
Third party toolbar compatibility,
Yahoo is probably the worst in any version of ie,
Google well it was okay in ie10 but not as good as ie9 so it's not surprising Googles response is to "Upgrade" to Chrome

Nice to see your upgrading issue has been solved,
Cheers.

Sorry - not exactly a novice, but I get a server error when I try to attach my CBS.zip file. My guess is the file is too large at 11mb.

FYI- when I ran /scannow, I got no errors.

The reason I'm trying to attach the cbs.zip file is because I can't get IE10 or IE11 to install on my Win7 Premium Home 64 bit OS. Error code 9C59 for both failures.

Further, when I look at the sfcdetails.txt, it looks incomplete, as the last line says "Beginning verify and repeat transactions". Up until the point, I didn't see anything amiss, other than the length of the details.

Attached are system specs and the sfcdetails file. Again, I'd attach the cbs.zip, but I get server error 500.

If there are some steps I'm supposed to take to trim that down some(if size is the issue) please advise.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data - as a zip file

Mod Edit:  Split from  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/602839/ie-11-issues/ - Hamluis.

We deploy IE 10 via SCCM 2007 and had the same issue so hopefully its the same for IE 11. The problem is caused by IE setup only allowing 10 seconds for the WMI query to finish, but WMI could take up 20 seconds to complete so it fails on a random number of machines. The next step taken by IE is to get the patch from the Internet and if your like most businesses the computer system account won't have proxy access to get out so the installation fails.

The fix or I should say workaround is to run the following script before the installation, which will then cache the result and will typically allow the IE install to complete as the query will for us anyway respond in about 5 seconds. We depoly this script about 5 minutes before the maintenance window for patch installation which opens at 11:00PM which gives us much better success.

So if your a deploy unattended another way or manually just run the script before installation.

Hope that helps

This is a internal Website, has two AP server.
production server : Windows Server 2008 + IIS 7.5
test server : Windows Server 2008 standard + IIS 7
both use .aspx and ,aspx.vb, and all applications are same version, use Excel file to be report template.

When I use Win7 + IE8 (or Firefox, Chrome) on both Website to generate report, all can download or open. when I upgrade to IE11, some step to generate report, but some report can not be download, only on production server, on test server, every report
all can download.

1. when finish generate report, on bottom will show a status bar, and have three button [Open] [Save] [Cancel]
2. Click Open or Save, status bar will show can't download and button change to [Retry] [Cancel] [View Download]
3. Click Retry, file can be download, but content was wrong, all will be replace by Web Page.

I try to do this on another PC, same result.
Is application need to modify? or change IIS setting? or need do anything?

Hello,
We have over 1000 Windows 7 SP1 64bit machines that we are going to be pushing out IE11 to. I've created a custom IE installer for IE11 and have it setup in SCCM for deployment.
Before the IE11 upgrade, the client PCs have the default shortcuts for IE9 (both an "internet explorer" and "internet explorer 64-bit".
Once the IE11 upgrade runs and is finished, these shortcuts have been replaced by a single "internet explorer" shortcut. BUT it points to the 64bit version of IE11!  Is there something that can be changed within the install package to prevent
this? Why is this happening?
We cannot have end users using 64bit IE11.

Thanks

Long story short, I upgraded my local machine from IE9 to IE11 a couple weeks ago.  Today I went to check out some group policies using the group policy manager I have installed for my admin tools.  I can view all the policies, but anytime I attempt
to expand the Administrative template portion of a group policy I get the error "Resource '$(string.Advanced_EnableSSL3Fallback)' referenced in attribute displayName could not be found. File C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\inetres.admx."  Also
if I try and access my group policy locally by doing Start > run > gpedit.msc I get the exact same error.  Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?  It only occurred once I upgraded to IE11.  Thanks

Hello, I'm getting error 9C59 when trying to upgrade ie9 on pretty much all the computers in my company weather vm or physical machine. I don't know why this is happening, I assume they were all installed from the same image and something is corrupted (they were set up before I got here).

I've tried pretty much everything I could find on error 9C59, but can't resolve the problem without formatting.

Please note that my machines are running Windows 7 PRO SP1 x64 french. They are connected to a WSUS server, but I removed the ones I tested with to have them update with windowsupdate servers in order to eliminate that problem.

Here is what I've tried.
Checked for prerequisites: missing kb2731771 and KB2533623, but when I try to install these, I get a message saying they don't apply to my computer (I assume they have been superseded)

So I just upgraded my work computer to windows 10. Previously I had windows 8.1 with IE11 and even though I initially had compatibility issues with my work's website, I had it working via compatibility mode. Now though, it barely works. I can load it and log on, but whenever I try to open a form or anything, I get a script error. I've tried opening the developer console and going through all the different versions of IE in the emulation tab, but nothing is working. I've also tried reinstalling the certificate for the website. However, one important thing to note: the website is hosted in Korea, so I've always had initial problems with certificates - untrusted, out of date, etc. I don't know much about that stuff, but I'm guessing it's because it's not hosted in the US (although it IS a .com site). I've attached a screenshot of the script error below. Could anyone help me figure out how to diagnose this specific error? Or maybe is there a way to lower the IE security way down to just allow everything on this site?

My work laptop is running Windows 7 and IE11.  Multiple times per day I have to go into Internet Settings because something is changing the "Check for newer versions of stored pages" from Every time I visit (my preference) to Never.  I do a lot of html/JavaScript/ColdFusion development and it is frustrating when I think some code that I've changed isn't working...only to find out that the browser has changed to Never again.

Our desktop team doesn't know what is going on - and claims there isn't a policy setting this value.

Any suggestions?  This was happening before when using IE9 as well.  It seems to happen 4-5 times per day for multiple days in a row...and then it will stop for a week or more before starting up again.

As you can imagine - it's difficult to do web development when your environment keeps changing.

Is there a way to "lock down" the value?  Is there a way to determine how/when it is getting changed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!!

One of our Desktop Engineers is running "regsvr32 *.dll /s" on eighty three DLL's that are related to Internet Explorer (IE11). I can post the list if necessary.
My question is: will reregistering the DLL's with regsvr32 weaken the security of IE11 by "undoing" any security fixes that have been put in place with a Microsoft Update?
There is also some concern that registering these DLL's could undo some security settings put in place by Group Policy but I suspect all GPO settings would be put back in place when Group Policy is refreshed.
If you could comment on the security aspect of registering DLL's that is what I am looking for. Many thanks.

Background:
Living the ex-pat life one of the things I miss from my native Finland is the television, especially since I really hate this German way to dub everything foreign, hate it from the bottom of my heart heart of my bottom. I'd rather listen the original sound track of foreign films, series and shows with additional subtitles as is custom in Finland, than see and hear the never so well synced lip movements of dubbed TV asthey do to all film and TV here in Germany.

For this reason I subscribe to an IPTV service from Finland, getting selected channels over the Internet either directly to an IPTV digital receiver connected to a TV (HD quality), or alternatively I can simply log in using the service's web interface and select any show from any channel from past four weeks in SD or HD quality. Only minus for me in this service is that I am not able to watch live TV, as all the shows become available first a few minutes after the show has aired.

Problem description:
Using Windows 8.1 Pro Preview and Internet Explorer 11, the web interface of the service works fine a few minutes after opening the page first time since launching the IE. I simply click the link of the show and a pop-up window opens directly, starting to show the video stream in my selected quality:

However, when the show has finished and I have closed the stream window to watch a new show, or if the interface page has been inactive a few minutes this is what I get instead of video stream:

Answer:Strange issue with streaming video in IE11 (Win 8.1)

Hello Kari,

I have encountered several different issues with IE11 that are not present when using Win 8.0 and IE10. I encountered my latest issue while trying to access my Lycos mail. Specifically, I cannot open an email and view its contents (get blank screen where text should be); however, if I hit reply, it then reveals the original contents below the area for response. This issue is 100% repeatable and works fine with Win 8.0 and IE10. Now, I am not looking for a fix because I am just playing with 8.1 right now but I just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain. Good luck.

I've successfully deployed Enterprise Mode (EM) within our environment and host the XML on a public web server for accessibility.  I've had success in accessing sites in EM, however recently I've added a new site which is having a peculiar
issue.  This particular site redirects you to an "Incompatible Browser" page when viewing the site in IE11 and after putting it in EM it still displays this page, however when accessing the site from another computer, EM works and the site
displays correctly. I've tried deleting all cache from Temporary Internet Files (specifically the XML) and various methods in attempting to access it, however I'm still unable to access from computers who have been presented with the "Incompatible
Browser" page.
Does anyone know if this would be some cache issue I'm unaware of? Is there a way to force EM for a particular site for testing purposes other than using the XML? Any additional advice or feedback would be great.

Thanks!
John

Answer:Enterprise Mode / IE11 Cache Issue

John,   If you are hand editing the XML for your sitelist, make sure you update the rules version to a higher number.  The browser will check the list and only apply new rules if the version is higher.  You can check the current users
rules version here...  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode

Hope that helps.

IE11 11.0.36 (KB3191492) does not show the base screen content after the modal window is closed.  Showing blank screen on IE11 window.  After I downgraded it to IE11 11.0.35 (KB3185319), it works fine.
To downgrade it, I just uninstalled the security updates KB3185330 & KB3192391.
Does any one have the other solution or know if a new update for this issue is coming from MS?

Hi All,

Our organization recently upgraded our Internet Explorer browser from 8 to 11 on Win7, still in pilot phase.

One of the issues that we are currently experiencing is that after the upgrade  the Export to Microsoft
Excel is no longer functioning as expected. This was working fine on IE8.We are on Office 2007.

What happens now on IE11 is that when you select a table on a web-page and do an Export to Excel, a new window
pops up and the address bar stays blank with just http:/// and "Page cannot be displayed" error. What's seems to be happening is that for some reason, it is not populating the address bar with the URL.

Anyone experienced similar issues and got a fix? Much appreciated.

Regards,

Ochen

Answer:Export to Excel issue after upgrading to IE11

Hi,
The Office 2003/IE 'Export to Excel' extension is not compatible with Standards compliant web browsers using a Standards rendering...
It uses a javascript method document.selection.... IE11 Standards mode no longer supports document.selection

A workaround is from MS Excel (assuming 2003) is to uses the Data>Import/Export menu to select and inport the table data from a IE hosted web document to within excel.
If you are using a more recent version of Office, you may be able to do a Windows update to receiver an update for that Office extension to IE.
A more complicated workaround is to f12>Emulation tab, choose an emulation mode of IE10 or lower and then use the Office 'Export to exel' context menu extension.Rob^_^

My japanese wife got a new PC and instead of the original WIN7 swedish version that the PC had, she had WIN7 japanese version (full version sent to her by her jap. brother in law) installed. Most things went fine, but she cannot update from IE7 to IE11. Whatever we do, (even trying to download IE11 from Japan Microoft site) only swedish version of IE11 is downloaded (is it because we live in Sweden now?), but it cannot be installed, as the system language is different, according to the message we get when we try to install the IE11 update. So it?s a Catch 22 situation. Anyone with a solution?

Answer:IE11 update Catch 22 situation

Hi,
Not sure if it's a catch 22
It's most likely because you leapfrogging over three versions :/
I doubt windows 7 ever had ie7 on it,
It comes with ie8,
But you would then go to ie9 and then ie10 and imho say there
Check for updates and right click and Hide the ie11's update and recheck for updates manually,
You should see ie10 and possibly 9 as well.
See how ie9 loads
Cheers.

This week i experienced some issues with internet explorer 11.

The issues i'm experiencing are:
-I can't download on any site, i press the download key and nothing happens. For example on mediafire and box.com.

-I can't stay logged in in any site. I open the site, i log in, i open that sites page on a different tab and it's already logged out. For example on facebook.com and sevenforums.com.

I think the cause of this issues is the update kb3049563, that i installed through "windows update".

I already unistalled kb3049563 and restarted the computer, but when i go check it, the update is still in the "update history".

Details on the update:

Go back with System Restore. When you are offered the updates, hide the one that presents the problem.
You are the second member to have a problem with those updates. For some reason I was spared.

Hi all,
Another niggling anomaly !
This might be coincidental, but my system seems a little bit sticky in Ebay since installing IE11. I now find that some buttons don’t work,,,,, important ones like Add to Basket, Back-page, Get Rates (in postal pages).
I have removed temp files (which I do regularly anyway).
I have scanned with MS Essentials, Malwarebytes & newly installed Avast (as recommended on these pages), Actually, I installed Avast at a similar time.
Malwarebytes picked up a couple of PUP files, which I deleted. Nothing else was found.
I was considering a System Restore, but about 6 of ‘em only go back 4 weeks, and the other (System Image Restore Point) goes back to April 2013.
I don’t think the first ones go back quite far enough,,,,,, but the last one – too far.
I have put Ebay in the Compatibility system – to no avail.
I think my first question is: Is there a known problem between ebay & IE11?
Is Avast likely to cause similar things ?
If not, I guess I have a problem with the kit (or the nut that uses it).
Happy New year folks.

Answer:Things a bit Sticky after IE11 update !

UPDATE:
It isn't just EBAY.
I've just found that I get similar niggly things in my Moonfruit pages.
When I click on a button, it looks like its working,,,,, highlights, or blinks or something, but after that - nothing.
Things seem better in Firefox, so I guess it is something to do with IE11. IE10 was fine.
Has anyone else come across this ?
Is it o.k to downgrade ?

Your Zip files appear to be broken - how did you create them?

You cannot simply split files.

You need to copy the entire CBS folder to your desktop, then remove the older CBSPersist files, compress the rest and upload the compressed file without changing it in any way.

I've already written about the previous update for IE11 (KB3148198) and installed it unwillingly:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/612553/what-about-kb3148198/

But this month, there is another cumulative security update for IE11 with a size of 52MB again (KB3154070). Do I need it? I read the following topic and try to find out if I would really need it:
http://www.askwoody.com/2016/are-win7-security-updates-free-of-get-windows-10-tendencies/#comments

I still hesitate.

I'm trying to read one of the big U.S. news websites in IE11 but it's literally showing me yesterday's news.

I've cleared cache, dropped cache disk space to its minimum of 8MB, changed cache settings to check for newer versions of stored pages every time I load the page. I've restarted the browser and rebooted the PC but the site remains stuck on yesterday's news.

All other tabs in IE11 have no problem showing the latest version of their websites but this particular site is just stuck. If I open it in another browser like Chrome, it loads the current version properly.

Any solutions?

Hi
I have been running IE11 in Windows 7. Needed to reinstall so followed instructions on Microsoft troubleshooting site.
Deleted IE11 as directed and also found IE10 to delete.
Followed instructions for installation and downloaded IE11 - then clicked on file and followed instructions. Tried this thee times and it eventually says that IE11 could not install successfully.
The found IE9 which I deleted as well and went through the same again. Was again told IE11 could not install successfully.
By this time now on Rolled back to IE8 which is not very successful.
Went onto Microsoft site and was invited to download and run IE11. Did this and this time all was successful. However still on IE8.
IE 11 nowhere to be found on the list of downloads/updates.
I have tried installing from the file I downloaded with AV and Firewall disabled but still no luck.
I have followed the instructions provided online "Troubleshooting a failed installation of Internet Explorer 11" but still no luck.
Seem to be at wits end on this one - Can anyone help please.
Regards

Hi all,

My first post here, so hopefully I'll get this right!

I have for some time now been trying to install ie11, but to no avail. The install fails and I get no error coes or anything. It puts a link on my desktop which tells me about pre-requisite updates, some I have installed, others, I am told, are not applicable to my machine.

I have tried to uninstall ie10, but can't, and also tried to update ie10 with the latest patches, but again they fail to install with error code 8000FFFF which appears to be the least helpful error code in the history of time.

I have also notice that I seem to have two instances of ie11 in the windows features section in control panel. One cannot be turned off, the other cannot be turned on. My browser tells me it is ie10 too, so 11 is not installed. I do not know what is going on, and I have tried everything I can think of, and as of now I'm using Chrome, as clealrly ie for me is not very well at all.

Can anyone help me?!

Thank you in advance

I have a laptop from a friend that was heavily virussed.
I have managed to clean most/all up now (malwarebytes etc no longer reporting) but cannot get it to install ie11.
I followed the tips elsewhere on removing ie10 manually - the forfiles command line, and it has removed some, but 7 components do not remove, and 4 error with 80070005. The others don't error if I remove the /quiet, but equally they don't work!
I then looked at the error on the msdn blogs, installed and ran subinacl commands, but they haven't fixed it either!
I checked eventlogs, and saw errors relating to system restore points, which are now fixed. I have managed to create a restore point.
I have run the SURT tool, and sfc /scannow (which said everything was fine)
However I still cannot install ie11. Current install is from a downloaded version, but have tried from Windows update too.
I would attach my cbs log files as requested - but the zip of the folder is 38Mb - so above limits I have attached the last half of one of the CBS logs and the smaller logs!
Just ran the tool on kb971058, as that related in to failed installs. The initial fixit didnt show anything - but the one in the main document ran and showed 2 errors - in capture.png

Hi
I have recently upgraded 32bit and 64bit windows 7 laptops from IE9 to IE11, with IE10 and 11 admin templates used. EPM for 64bit is disabled. One IE policy shared by 32/64bit laptop.
The intranet main web page has a number of links to internal servers web applications, external websites, external servers.
In IE9 there were no issues connecting to all the links 32bit and 64bit laptops.
After upgrade of IE11 on 32bit laptop all the links work.
After upgrade of IE11 on 64bit laptop NOT all the links work for internal servers web application. But all links work on the same machine if i use another browser like chrome.
Here is something even more odd, if i click an external site in the IE11 browser and then go back to the intranet home page all the links work. But if i open up a new tab, go to the intranet home page and then click the internal website pages it does not
work until i click an external link.
Does anyone know what would cause this or how to monitor/track where the problem lies. Only effects 64bit laptops and kicks into life when clicking on an external site, but always works in chrome.

Hi,

We've been trying to upgrade the browser on a Windows 7 - 32bit machine for some time now.

After running through and making sure that all of the updates were in line, we tried to run the IE 11 upgrade first through Windows Update and even through the standalone version from MS.

Both have failed to install. I've reviewed the posting instructions and We've run the sfc /scannow without any errors and also ran the SURT.

I'm placing the log link here to a dropbox since the file is quite large zipped up. The link will expire in 7 days.

Thank you for your help in advance!!

I am in the process of deploying IE11 out to my network of Win 7 boxes. In my test office the person that does online ordering is having to reset all their passwords on all the sites that have secure checkout. Most cases don't require the page to be put in compatibility mode and a reset of the password fixes it. Is this to be expected or is there something I can do to prevent this going forward as I don't want a flood of calls when the rest of the people that do ordering in other offices go through the same issues.

We are a school environment behind a web proxy. We've upgrade to IE11 from IE9. Now, when we have to authenticate to the proxy the check box "Remember
my credentials" is checked by default. We don't won't to disable password caching just change the default to unchecked/clear.

I've just added a 2012 DC to the domain so I could properly configure the GPO but I'm a little stumped on the settings

I upgraded from windows 8 pro to windows 8.1 pro
When I watch YouTube video screensaver kicks in.

when I watched YouTube video on windows 8 it was IE10 (I think it used flash player plugin) everything was ok while video playing no screensaver.

After upgrade to windows 8.1 and ie11 I noticed that it is HTML5 video and screensaver started appearing while video is playing.
So question is how can I disable screensaver while HTML5 video is playing in IE11?

This is driving me crazy. The live stream at MSNBC TV Digital TVE - Lean Forward: The digital home of MSNBC TV | MSNBC seems to have broken recently when using Windows 8.1/IE11 64-bit. It think it may be a Flash update issue. The archived video streams like one at The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell on msnbc plays fine. Also, live streaming works on Chrome (although choppy). I've checked the Flash settings for storage permissions and all seems fine. Could someone check to see if the live MSNBC stream works for them on Windows 8.1/IE11 64-bit? The live stream actually works when logging in through my cable provider's site (MyVerizon) so it seems it's something with how MSNBC is doing the stream directly versus through the provider.

Thanks for the help. This is weird since the archived streams work and the live stream doesn't. I've deleted cookies, etc. and about everything I could think of.

P.S. to access the live stream you must subscribe to a cable service included on their list and sign in using that account information. If your provider isn't on the first tiled list, click see full list below the tiles for a more complete list.

Answer:MSNBC Live Stream on IE11/Windows 8.1 64-bit Issue

UPDATE:
Although no one seemed to care (or had any help) I'm posting this to close out the thread.

I discovered that the now.msnbc.com and cnbc.com/live-tv/ sites have a problem with default document mode that is being used in IE 11. The default is "9" for these sites is but changing the document mode to "10" produces the live stream video. In IE, hitting F12 brings up the emulation screen that allows you to see and set the emulation for document mode.

I wanted to share the cause and a workaround.

FYI the default document mode for this forum site is also "9" which is apparently not the latest standard ("Edge"). See Document Mode in Internet Explorer | Testing made easier in Internet Explorer | modern.IE if you're curious about what I am writing about here.
