Activation Fail and no Phone activation possible.

Question: Activation Fail and no Phone activation possible.

Hi Gents,

Hope someone can help me here. I've been using a retail version of Win7 Home premium 64 for about 2 years now with no issues.

During that time I've reinstalled the product possibly 6 or 8 times. Excessive I know but when things start to go wrong I like to start fresh again. Anyway from memory the last 2 times I have had to use phone activation.

A couple of weeks ago I dropped my laptop and killed the HDD. Put in a new one and reinstalled Win. I've just tried to activate with no luck. I went to phone activation and being lazy I typed in my old code I had saved from last time.

Now I can't activate and when I try and open the phone activation box I get a pop up from the toolbar saying the copy isn't genuine and nothing more.

Is there a way to resolve this or have I pissed off the activation so much that I actually have to shell out for a new copy?

Thanks in advance and I'm located in Thailand if that makes a difference.

Preferred Solution: Activation Fail and no Phone activation possible.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Activation Fail and no Phone activation possible.

The error indicates mismatched ID's in the license.

Please first try recreating Licensing Store.

Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
net start sppsvc
slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report.

(Note: the Line 'CD %win......\SoftwareProtectionPlatform' is all on one line - it may be broken in the Forum listing)

Just did a fresh install of windows7pro from sealed packaging. I had both discs but only used the 64bit. Product key rejected. Any reason to try anything or, should I just assumed I got ripped off.

This was a purchase from 3 years ago that patiently sat on the shelf waiting to bone me.

Answer:Win7 activation fail

probably just use the phone option, its possible that your key has been used as well though. If you have the COA, you can get it activated.

Due to Microsoft's persistent urging, a little curiousity, and the faith that I could recover my system, I upgraded to Windows 10 in June, 2016. It worked great for several weeks, then failed badly. I couldn't boot into regular mode. Research showed that all I had to was start in Safe Mode. When I finally got to the point where the "Restart in Safe Mode" option should have been, I see "Return to Previous Build" instead. I chose that and it reverted back to Windows 7. Windows 7 also didn't work because Windows 10 messed up the partitions. That also prevented me from doing a hard drive Recovery. At this point, I'm starting to think, "**bleep** this is getting to be beyond ridiculous, its a good thing I made Recovery Discs." So I boot the computer with the first of three Recovery DVDs that I made from this computer and it tells me they aren't for this computer (an ongoing miserable failure by many OEM's). HP says its too late to have a working DVD Recovery set mailed to me like they would have before 4+ years went by. So I installed the same version of Windows 7 from a retail DVD. The activation period is over now (I thought it had already activated as everything I've done is proper, legal and legitimate), and my option is to buy a new license. Unbelievable. Will somebody please fix this nightmare. Thanks, Chuck-IT

Hello!
every now and then I check the Computer Management. Today, in Administrative Events I found the following:
[Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\USB Disk Security\MFC80U.DLL". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",ver sion="8.0.50608.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.]

I googled and found out that it has to do with Microsoft C + + +
but I'm not sure which one I should install!
Can you please help me?

Following that attempting some 20 times which gave the same error. choosing the troubleshooter windows returns with we found a windows 10 home license and you are running windows 10 home. To activate you need to install windows 10 home.. I am including these 2 screen captures.. If anyone has any insite as to what to do next please let me know...

Greetings!

This is relatively new experience for me and I have spent some time Googling for solutions.

A friend of mine upgraded his genuinely activated Windows 8 Pro Parallels virtual machine to Windows 10 Pro. After the upgrade, he finds that his Windows 10 Pro is not activating. When I check, the error 0xC004C003 states that the activation is being blocked.

A common suggestion I have encountered was to install the OS from scratch, but that isn't practical in this situation. I am also aware that with Windows 10 the licensing is based on unique hardware identification, which makes me feel that this might affect virtual machine installations due to the nature of virtualizaiton, but surely Microsoft had thought about this before rolling out Windows 10 with the new licensing scheme (or at least I hope).

Another suggestion I read and tried was "slrmgr.vbs /rearm" --> reboot --> "slrmgr.vbs /ato". I still receive the same error. I also tried "slrmgr.vbs /ipk Windows8KeyHere" but it didn't work. I received an error code "0xc004e016" about the key being invalid.

Any ideas?

Having recovered (I think) from a registry corruption in XP, I find myself being unable to get into my user account as Windows is asking for reactivation. When I select the internet method it seems to work ok for a while and then I get an error message saying I could not connect to the activation server. I want to try the phone option but they don't list any numbers and I don't appear to have any with my documentation. could anyone help please

Answer:Phone no. for XP activation?

I have an HP probook that had Windows 7 Pro installed on it. The whole hdd somehow got corrupted, I could not even boot from a recovery partition (I think because I shrunk C: and created a D: too and it created a wierd partitioning system). I had to use a Linux live CD to erase all partitions because even my Windows 7 Pro CD could not see the partitions when I got to that part of install. Upon installing the same exact version of Windows on the same exact computer I entered the product code that was under the battery of all stupid places. Then is does not activate and tells me I can activate by phone? huh. So I did everything phone told me and Windows is activated fine... BUT why when I have a valid product key does it fail until I use the phone activation?

Answer:Why phone activation?

It's a strange one. Generally only occurs when there is zero internet connection. Was the probook definitely connected to the internet at the time you attempted to activate?

hi ppl,
every 6 months or so, i wipe the hdd and do a clean reinstall of xp.
over the past 2 years - due to several hardware changes, or whatever - i've had to "phone activate" after reloading xp.

yesterday, i did the "6 monthly reinstall" and *surprise surprise* activation was effected successfully automatically online ! no phone needed

would this be a new Micro$$$oft policy
in other words "with the release of Win7, we are washing our hands of XP soon"

interesting.......

I called and everything worked fine, my question is am I going to have to do this every time I reinstall windows now? and if I do, next time I call and the system asks how many computers I have used the key on, do I say 2 now or still 1.

Thanks for your time.

Next time, you could uninstall your product key first then continue on to the next phase, or, clean install next time so your key is not registered as 'in use'.

I've used the phone method to activate Win7 on 4 Notebooks in the last 10 days without problems. I always use the traditional landline instead of my cellphone. Then when the Notebooks got updated I got the Win10 as part of the updates and got that done without problem.

Answer:No phone activation option after new HDD

You don't get an option to telephone activate an OEM_SLP Key.

You need to change the Product Key to the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case (or inside the battery compartment), using the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page.
You may need to activate by phone.
telephone activation (operator calls)
Click on the Start button
in the Search box, type
SLUI 4
and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

I am currently running 2 80Gb Intel SSD in Raid 0, due to the fact there is no TRIM support in raid I am having to reinstall about ever 5-6 months to refresh the drives the activation should be smart enough to see I am installing it on the same pc and not annoy me with a phone activation call.

When windows 7 gets native trim support for raid I will have to throw a party or something.

Before my last refresh my average was 343MB/sec, now I am back to a cool 477MB/sec it clearly has to be done

I know Microsoft doesn?t want there product stolen however I don?t want to be annoyed after paying for your product if trim was supported in raid this wouldn?t be necessary.

Hi there
I recently changed a MOBO from an INTEL based one to one using an AMD PHENOM processor -- W7 didn't want any new activation rather surprisingly. (Broken Mobo and I had a spare ASUS MOBO lying around).

However the first time I switched to using a LAN cable instead of a Wifi USB adapter I got the "Hardware has changed - please activate windows. OK it activated fine -- however seems strange to me that a MOBO change didn't call for any activation (Disks, memory, DVD device etc were canaballized from the old machine) but a simple switch from Wifi to a LAN did. !!! The internal logic of the activation process seems totally illogical and bizarre. (Running W7 x-64 ULTIMATE). !!!

Cheers

hi all

is SLP loader functions the same as windows activator?

i'm using Win Server 2003 Standard Edition as my OS. currently, it's already prompting and i have 27-days left for activation

this all happened when i initiate System Recovery using the same CD installer i used to setup the same computer almost 3-years ago. i did so as it hung-up and i can't managed even to go into Safe Mode, as well, the so called Last Known Good Configuration but still to no avail

i used the same CD Key i used initially before but it won't accept or recognized it where it states that if my CD Key was right and still not updating then i should telephone Microsoft

wow!

can i do that when i'm not in the continental USA much more these computer was registered not under my name since it's only a hand-me-down or surplus which is beneficial to me

so i'm looking for SLP loader or windows activator (if it function the same way) intended for Win Server 2003 Standard Edition as it may resolve my issue

hope it's okay to inquire and that if it's not advisable to reply post in here, i welcome it through PM

Answer:windows activation (27-days left for activation)

If it's a valid key, you should have no problem calling MS to re-activate Windows.

It should give you an option to pick which country you're from on the activation window, and then a number to call.

I have purchased a laptop that came originally with the OEM W7 Home Premium 64.
The previous owner had deleted the recovery partition and installed Ultimate on it which has a key.

I used an official Digital River ISO to create an install disc of Home Premium and validated the original OEM copy's key.

I need to use XP Mode and that is available only for Prof and Ultimate. I was wondering if I can replicate the ISO process and have the key of Ultimate validated by MS, so that I can switch to it.

When I validated the key by phone it used the running the version of W7 to which the key belonged. I am wondering if I can validate the other key even though I do not yet run that version. If not, is there another way to activate while that version is not running?

You can use Anytime Upgrade to install the Upgrade key you purchase (Anytime Upgrade, full Upgrade, or Full Retail license) - you will need internet access, as it checks validation during the process.

You cannot activate a Key that is not in use.

Hi guys. I'd been trying to activate my windows XP PRO SP2 with no success due to:

- Unable to connect via internet: despite my internet connection is good the activation wizzard just won't connect.
- Phone activation: I've lost count of how many times I've tried the phone number that was given to me by the activation wizzard, NOT GOOD! the number was 800-1-5550, for Venezuela that phone won't work.

So please, If you have any ideas for solving the connection problem or if you happen to have the current phone number for phone activation pls post it, let me know, what ever. I'll be really thankful!

Thanks for your support!

The other day I decided I was going to reinstall windows 8.1. Bad move, now it says my key is invalid, gives me no option to call. Only to buy or enter a new key. This is a retail 8.1 pro. Does someone have the US activation number I can call to sort this out. It doesn't give me the option of calling. Just says key is blocked.

*edit* yes its genuine, got it at best buy and spent 200 bucks for it...

We are looking for some mechanism where we can activate our OEM licenses without phone or internet....
We sit in a closed environment with no access to internet, and activating each OEM licenses for individual system via phone is time consuming.....  Is there a feasibility where we can automate this process before we deliver our product to the customer...

Hello and thanks for reading this

I installed Retail version Win 7 64 on my old system about a month ago. Then decided to upgrade since I caught the upgrade bug. Installed Win 7 on my new system (new motherboard and CPU). Unfortunately that CPU died because of my installation cruelty, and I bought a new one.

I decided to reinstall Win 7 and start over with the right drivers installed to make sure there were no problems with the new CPU.

Just tried to activate, and it said that my code was blocked by MS. So I called them on the activation number. That failed, and it said that my Win 7 might be a pirated copy I don't do fake software Problem is, there was no option to call anyone to verbally confirm what had happened.

Can someone tell me if this all sounds normal? And, what do I do to activate my Win 7? Do I only have 3 days left, and then my OS stops working???

Answer:Phone activation called me a pirate :D

AS you only had Windows 7 installed for month, that would make it look that way.

Hi,
i have recently installed 1703 distribution to my old pc from scratch (original windows7pro, upgraded to 1611 with digital license) after broken the original hard disk drive, replaced with a new one.
I have a big problem with automatic activation: with 1611 release was very easy to activate my pc, and if automatic activation failed i always tried the phone activation with no problems, but now with 1703 i tried to launch from elevated command prompt "slui 4" and......nope.
Changed something ?
Please help me, thanks.

Answer:1703 Phone activation disappeared

In a Command Prompt (admin) or Powershell (admin), try:

slmgr /ato

Also, see here:

The activation troubleshooter might give you the phone number and installation ID, but I'm not sure.

Hi. Earlier today I changed the SATA mode in my computer's bios from IDE to AHCI, having read that it might improve disk performance slightly. The computer then booted fine, but is now requiring reactivation (this surprised me a bit, I thought several pieces of hardware, not just hard disk mode, would have to change before a reactivation).

Anyway, I tried to reactivate online, but this failed and I got a message saying I had to activate by phone if my hardware had changed. So I tried to do so, but then got the error message: "An unspecified error has occurred". Despite this, the activation progressed to the next stage, where a list of locations should have come up, but all I got was an empty box and empty drop down list: When I clicked next, I got the option for a toll phone number (which I really don't fancy, because I have no idea what the toll is and I have to enter and take down 108 characters), but the freephone option says it's not available.

So really I need either the UK Windows 7 x64 activation phone number, or a way round these error messages. Any help much appreciated, thanks.

I have a license of Win 7 Pro, that's always been used for a VM of my work environment. This license has never been installed on anything other than a VM.

Today, I did a reinstall, and the automatic activation didn't work. I needed to call in and do phone activation. It worked fine, but what caused this to happen? It's been almost a year since the last install, and the keys never been used for anything else.

Also the base computer hasn't changed... except for a new SSD. Would that small change cause this?

Answer:Windows 7 install - phone activation?

Probably because the VM doesn't do an absolute mirror of your hardware. There are somethings built-in to the VM software itself that probably registers as different hardware when you used the key in the VM. I'm thinking things like audio/video, maybe even Ethernet ports, etc. The hardware is not seen the same by Windows because it technically isn't. The VM is emulating hardware for the most part using its own defaults to simulate a general piece it's emulating.

Maybe that's it. If it was something like ESXi then I don't know because that's a little more bare metal VM, but I'm sure it would have similar quirks.

Installs fine, and activation fails. I retype the key right off the sticker and it still fails. So i proceed with activating over the phone using the number displayed on the screen, and no dice. The Microsoft Windows activation phone line plays elevator music for a moment and then goes silent.

I assume this is a scam and if so how on earth would they know I just re-formatted?

Some idiots may be on the same ISP as yours, scanned it and got your OS.
Also, there are many web plugins that say what browser, windows and version you are using.

Nothing to worry about, just make sure you have a good antivir program like avira

So today I realized I'm really a special case lol...

Anyway, I have the following issue. I have a legitimate Windows 8 Pro copy which was installed on my PC before I did a major hardware upgrade (MBO, CPU etc.). When I set everything together, I booted into my Win 8, and of course it was deactivated.

So, what I did next:

- I uninstalled the product key (with slmgr commands) so it wouldn't recognize it's still installed on that PC (if that has something to do with it)
- formatted my HDD in order to have a nice, clean installation
- reinstalled Windows 8
- entered the product key again
- started the Phone Activation

So I did EVERYTHING good, until the phone lady robot asked me on how much computers is this Windows 8 installed, and I somehow managed to press on "2".

Of course, the next thing that happened, phone lady robot told me my licence doesn't support 2 PCs, so I got angry on myself, ended the call and cursed a lot

When I tried to repeat the process, she told me that the activation didn't finish (or something) and that she'll connect me with a call agent.

Today was a holiday in Croatia, so MS support in Croatia was on day off.

So... what do I do? Do I have ANY options left in order to activate my Windows 8?

Can I call MS support in Monday, explain to them what happened and hopefully they'll help me activate my 8?

Thanks

Answer:Phone activation - accidentally pressed on number 2

So I did EVERYTHING good, until the phone lady robot asked me on how much computers is this Windows 8 installed, and I somehow managed to press on "2".

YEP! Been there... done that! If I remember correctly, I think that a repeat of my process (and always selecting 1 thereafter) was successful; however, I can't remember if I tried to authenticate (a second time) via the same 800 number or used a different automated location. Anyway, you can try a different automated location, and if that does not work, I am sure MS will be able to help you. Good luck.

Hi all,

I have a problem I've been trying to solve and hope someone can help.

I purchased an Acer desktop which came with Vista but as it was around the time of changeover I got a free upgrade to Win7

I was living in Malaysia but left in July. Before I left I got the local computer shop to check and service the computer as it was much cheaper than where I was going to (Japan).

Shortly after arriving in Japan Win7 deactivated. I contacted MS and they say to contact Acer in Malaysia which I did.

They asked for serial numbers and the Win code on the computer. This is where trouble strikes - the code on the computer is for Vista. After about 3 weeks of going back and forth they finally provide a new 20 digit product ID. However this doesn't work so Acer tell me to use the phone registration. This option won't come up for me, even when trying to fiddle with it using slmgr.vbs, slui.exe and other methods.

I have contacted the computer repair shop too and they have basically brushed me off.

So I now turn to you all and hope you might be able to help me out please. Thanks!

Hello to all!

I recently re-installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my Acer Aspire 5742Z laptop.

I used the Product Key from the sticker on the laptop, but for some reason, when I tried to do the Activation online, it told me to do it by phone instead.

I activated by phone, typed in the confirmation code and it said "Activation Successful."

But now when I look in "System" section of Control Panel, there is a Product Key there that is totally different from the one on the sticker! (The one on the sticker starts with a 9, the one in "System" starts with a 0)

The letters OEM are part of this different product key, and the sticker on my laptop does say "Windows 7 Home Premium OA" (I believe OA is the same as OEM, correct me if I'm wrong).

Is it ok that it is a different Product Key? I want to make sure my copy is legal.

The "Genuine Microsoft Software" is beside it, FYI.

There was an user who doesn't know what activation of windows 7 is, and continue to use the laptop for a few weeks. Then he passed away. The new owner, his friend, got his laptop, 2 yr. later.

So by now, the activation period is over, and from this link

http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx

so after I click Activate now, and enter the serial no. at the back of the laptop, there is a strange error. I don't know if it's a microsoft website error, or a win 7 error. It actually says : Error Code 0 x ??????

and it gives the option of Change product key, but no telephone option

And as of now, the win 7 on the laptop says it's not a genuine product.

So I don't get it, I type it the exact letter at the back of the PC, is microsoft saying because the guy didn't activate his laptop until 2 yr. later, it's no longer genuine?

how do you fix this?

Answer:How to activate windows 7 by phone if you pass the activation period?

There shouldn't be any manual activation on an OEM laptop. there is the possibility that the laptop was repaired or reloaded with an OEM or Retail version and never activated with the key for whatever version was installed.
If you have the original discs for the laptop or manuals, I would see if there is a restore partition on the hard drive and I would restore it and go from there.

I bought windows 7 ultimate license on-line for good price. the seller said only phone activation.

however it did activate by phone. i started wondering why only phone activation.

I looked at licence by slmgr it shows retail channel.

is this legitimate copy and can i activate on-line the next time??

why only phone activation?

I updated the KB971033 and still activated.

Answer:Bought windows 7 used licence, activation only by phone! is it legit?

You can determine this with certainty by calling MS Customer service. This helps because once they verify it you have a permanent record of that for any reinstalls and they'll task Support to get it activated no matter what. Retail can migrate and reinstall as often as you want as long as it's only on one PC at a time. Phone activation sometimes is required if there's doubt about that, with a series of numbers traded to update the hardware ID associated with the key. When they ask how many PC's its installed upon the only correct answer is "One" after which they take that as permission to deactivate it on any other device which hardware ID had been associated with it.

We saw tons of bad eBay licenses, so I'd confirm its validity now in case it loses activation so you can file for PayPal refund or challenge the charge with your bank. It is a crime to sell phony or pirated software keys, and MS will sometimes award you with a free copy if you cooperate into an investigation where you lose money.

I am trying to get my Windows 7 machine activated after a hard drive change and clean install.

It would not automatically activate online so I did the phone activation, no problem, I get the new conformation ID numbers and am good to go right?

NOT!

I originally upgraded the hard drive and reinstalled Windows and activated it. Windows 7 said it was activated before I tried to do the free upgrade to Windows 10. After I did the upgrade to Windows 10 it said it can't activate do to a blocked key.

I went back and fourth going back to Windows 7 and made sure it was activated and then did the upgrade again and same thing, the key is blocked. I even spoke to a few people at Microsoft and keep getting different So-called" answers and nothing works.

I even had it on Windows 7, 3-4 days saying it was activated before trying the upgrade and same thing the key is blocked.
I have even done multiple clean installs and just tried reverting back to Windows 7 through Windows 10 a few times. Most of (maybe all) the activation's from a clean install I had to do the over the phone and thought it was good to go until trying to upgrade to 10.

But NOW!

I reinstalled 7 again, activated it, now hours later it is saying the key is invalid in Windows 7. I never had this on Windows 7 until now.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

after installing a new SSD on my t440s I couldn't activate windows because the laptop did not have the licence key sticker on the back and it was downgraded to 7 from factory.   When i called the phone activation, it told me the 6 sets of numbers are invalid, then I spoke to 2 different but equally useless reps who spoke horrible english. 1 simply told me the numbers are invalid and asks me to wait 2-3hrs for a tech guy to call me back to remote access my system since she couldn't (of course she couldn't, she didn't even ask!) 2nd rep was this vietnamese woman who spoke equally horrible english than the first. Tried to explain to her the same thing as the first but all I can hear are mumblings and mangled english. I told her I can't understand her and she said something like " i can no transfer cone. please cone back back"   **bleep**? took me a while to understand. It took me 30mins to explain to them why I don't have the sticker or why I don't have the recovery cds.later on I finally found 2 softwares to dig up the bios and I found 2 keys, key 1 is labelled windows 7 professional key, key 2 is the windows OEM key. i tried to enter a key (key1) but it was seen as invalid, I tried entering key 2. but it says there is an invalid character so the key becomes 24 characters instead of 25. turns out the N letter is seen as an invalid letter.

Hiya,

I am having a problem with my windows 7 home premium 64bit. I wiped my computer to try and get a new graphic card to work( never got it working, gave up and went back to my old graphic card) Since then I have had to wipe my computer a number of times, I kept having to wipe my computer since the same problem kept happening. Which is that my windows will crash and wont work after about 1-2mins after start up.

I thought it was my disk so I installed it from a usb windows installer and has been runnign fine for about 2 weeks until I was free to do the phone activation of my windows, I phoned up the activation after using my computer for a while then after I phoned and it came up genuine (like normal) I went to get a drink befor doing more work and once getting back to my computer I opened a new tab on firefox it was very slow on the internet so I clsoed my browser and tried to reopen it and but it woulnd't open windows has frozen completely so I pressed the restart button on my case and let it boot up and then it wouldn't let me do anything.

Does anyone have any idea of how come my computer seem to freeze and refuse to work once I use the windows phone activation?

Answer:Windows wont work after using windows 7 home phone activation

What makes you think it is the activation? Did you go click on "Start Button", right click on "Computer" and left click on "Properties"? When the screen comes up scroll down to the right bottom of the screen and you should see a "Genuine Windows Logo". If it says something different then there is an activation problem.

Hi guys a lot of research online brings me here, and I hope this will be the last stop before I put my fist through the screen of my laptop.

So a few days ago my computer can't connect to wireless, stuck in Limited mode. Troubleshoot says - "wireless connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration". i've uninstalled the driver, put valid settings from another laptop I have, I've uninstalled Bonjour, i've put netsh commands.. still nada. The USB connection I could use to tether also stopped working. I've tried other wifi connections and they don't work either. The strangest thing is that itunes won't recognize the phone, but windows does and i can go inside the folders.
I have the 169.254.x.x ipconfig forgot the name but like I've read here before it can't get to DHCP.

The laptop is 6 months old lenovo windows 7.
Would really appreciate some input on what else to try. Thank you!

Question: XP Activation

I have imaged countless laptops over the years using PowerQuest Deploy Center, I have never ran into many issues untill lately, after imaging a few IBM X40 laptops running Windows XP and deploying that image onto other X40'S I can't get those machine to activate XP, I am using the correct key codes and still it tells me that the code is wrong, so I figured I would use the IBM restore option to bring the machine back to it's factory state and image the machine with an older X40 image that I know works, yet still even after restoring the older image I get the same error when I try to activate windows, what is causing this? why would it still have this problem even after restoring it back to factory and then re-imaging? could I re-run Sysprep?

Answer:XP Activation

If you are using ghost to deploy images to multiple machines you need to use the VLA version of XP that doesn't have activation. It will save your company $ on licensing too.

I have never activated windows XP because of this.

Just a query with regard to activation of windows XP more then once. I have a genuine version of XP Pro and have not loaded it yet. However i generally tend to dump my HDD every now and then to keep it clean and clear of rubbish. I would assume that i can re-activate the software without any hassle when i dump my HDD and reload XP. Can anyone tell me if this is correct or i am up the creek when i reload at a laetr date?

Rumour is there are also cracks to convert to a corporate version?

Many thanks,

as you may or may not recall, i work at my college's computer help desk and fix people's computers. often this results in the need to format and reinstall their OS. many times i've reloaded an oem computer with no problems, just use an oem xp cd and the key from the sticker on the bottom of their computer. fine. but just yesterday and today for the first time ever for me, windows would not activate over the internet. i called the number for the phone and entered it into the voice recognition thing but it naturally didn't work and i ended up talking to someone in india and i explained this was a reinstall on a hp/dell, it was preinstalled when they got it but i had to reinstall. fine, she gives me the confirmation number and it goes in. but it again happened today on another computer (the first one was hp, this one was a dell). but today the system was down for maintainence or whatever so it took me all day before i could actually accomplish it.

has this happened to anyone before? as far as i know, since both were preinstalled from the manufacturer and they never reloaded it themselves it should have let me activate it.

and fyi, i figured out that you can press 1 instead of saying yes when it asks if you're activating xp, and if the activation wizard is up, also you can enter the key on the keypad, much faster than saying it and waiting for it to recognize your voice

is it possible?

has anyone tried their x32 serial with the 64 trial or the 64bit free upgrade?

i just hope i am able to use x64 without spending more errr!

if not, has anyone rescieved their free x64 upgrade from microsoft yet in the mail?

It won't work, x64 uses a different logarithm to generate keys. You have to use Microsoft's exchange program thinger.

Will the product ID's for Windows XP work with any Windows Installation CD? A friend of mine tried to reinstall Windows XP home edition on his computer with some one else's CD, but using his Product ID#. He is at college and his installation disc was left at home so he didn't want to wait for it ot arrive. When he tried this, he called microsoft to activate and a recording told him that either the ID# was bad or the ID# did not recgonixe the software and to re-install. So did that mean that he has to use his own CD? His CD was a Windows XP Home Edition upgrade disc while the one he tried wasn't an upgrade.

Question: Activation sms

Hello.
I try to get my google drive to work on my lumia 630, and google sending me an activations sms but i do not receive any sms. I have the same problem with my new installed Viber acount. I can receive sms messages from others, like family and friends

Answer:Activation sms

There may be several factors that cause this, but one of the most common is having the wrong country code or including the number "0" in front of the main mobile number.
For example:
In my country, the country code is +63. Let's say a mobile phone number is 09171234567. This usually becomes +639171234567 where the "0" is replaced by the country code. This number may not be the same as +6309171234567 at all times.
Note: the mobile number used above is an arbitrary number, not mine though it may belong to someone else. The number is readily producible, as it is 1234567.

Question: XP Activation

My sister just got a new DELL laptop and she asked me to partition her HD the same way I do to my work PC's. The laptop is new out of the box. When I partition a HD, I like to just reinstall the OS and partition if from the setup so that all the junk demo programs and stuff that comes from the factory isn't floating around.

The one thing that I noticed was that I didn't get the XP Activation Notification when XP finished installing. I know that it is/was buried in the start bar menu under accessories\system tools, but I can't find it anywhere on her laptop. I know that the previous XP installs would have a message saying that if you don't activate this within 30days, it won't work. I don't want the laptop to suddenly stop working after 30days on my sister if I missed activating it. Is it automatically activated during setup and during the internet setup, pre-activated at the factory for this machine, or do I need to manually activate it using some wizard that I can't locate.

Thanks.

I waited the 30 days before activating windows xp (stupid mistake :\)

I use windows home with service pack 2. I have a cable modem and a router that connects to 2 other computers.

Anyways when I log on it takes me right to an activation screen. I click on activate on line but windows cannot detect my on line settings. Weird part is surfing the web worked before this activation screen poped up. So i tried calling windows activation support and I gave them my installation ID. But the lady on the phone said it was not a valid number. I even called again and double checked to see if I gave it right. Didn't work.

Is there now a way to activate windows with out reinstalling windows? (I'd like to keep the files in my documents and microsoft is no help)

Thanks in advanced.

If it is a valid ID, and the disk has never been used on another PC, and is not a copy, then escalate the call.

Is this a new PC?

An upgraded installation?

Call Microsoft, they will help resolve the issue, Also do this & you will never have this issue again.

Reinstall Windows XP without re-activating

If you were to reinstall Windows XP, you normally must re-activate it as well, even if your hardware is unchanged... luckily, there's a way around this.

First, your hardware between reinstalls must NOT change..

XP keeps the activation information in a file named "wpa.dbl", which can be found in _:\WINDOWS\System32\

After your activating Windows XP, back this file up to a floppy or some other type of media.

Now, if you ever need (or want) to reinstall Windows XP, go through the whole procedure as you normally would. Once you get into Windows itself, copy the file from your media back into _:\WINDOWS\System32\... You may need to be in safe mode to do this

Hi there

didn't you get a prompt for W10 during the re-install process. Refuse that (say later) . Install W7 and activate . Now go to windows Update in control panel and you should see Windows 10 offered as an update.

When re-installing W7 WIPE all the partitions off the old W7 partition / HDD.

Question: Activation XP

Hello,

My computer crashed and I re-installed XP on it and now I get the message to activate in 30 days or else. When I click to activate I get the message it is already activated. What does this mean?
I changed to date to 30 days ahead to see if the message would go away and now it just goes in lopes activate and already activated, even with the date changed back, it will not openanything but this activation screen.

Answer:Activation XP

Because you already activated it, microsoft basically wont allow you to activate it again. You have to call microsoft and tell them your situation. They will give you a code to fix it. I had to do the same thing for office xp....my comp got screwed up, so i reformatted....wouldnt let me activate...so i called ms, told them i reformatted and needed a new code, and they gave me one.

EDIT: the reason they do this is for software piracy issues...cant use the product if its already been used once.... one thing you should note though, because that screen auto pops up now all the time, you might have to reinstall xp again...ask ms about that

Folks,I bought Win 7 recently, (Full retail, not OEM, at the special pre-order price). I didn't have a specific use for it at the time, but then decided to try it on my laptop. I liked it and eventually wiped Vista altogether from the laptop and freshly installed Win 7, and got everything running REALLY nicely. It was activated about a week ago.Lo and behold couple of night ago a serious problem with the laptop. Bottom line is that it's a motherboard problem and a repair is not a realistic financial proposition...So I'll be looking to replace the laptop. One of the models I'm considering comes with no OS.Now becasue this is a retail version of Win7 I know I can install it on another machine, as long as it's only on one at a time.Does anyone know how much of an issue it will be, to activate this copy of Win 7 on another computer?I understand, (from threads regarding other folk reactivating XP in the past) that attempting to activate online will fail, and a number is presented for you to call and activate by phone. What I'm wondering is how much hassle is it IN PRACTICE. Do you speak to a real person? Do they give you a hard time? I'm wondering especially because of the short time involved between installations. Thanks in anticipation,Regards,Simsy

I have a Desktop PC which I upgraded to Win10 with no problems. I also have a Laptop, HP ProBook which was also offered to upgrade to 10 which I did and gave to my daughter.

She attends University away from home, and I never had a chance to look at the laptop much. She graduated this week and came back home and I took a look at My/her laptop and found out, much to my surprise that Win10 never activated on it.

The original account, in which the previous Windows version was upgraded is still present on laptop, (my account), so I tried to activate from there and it was not possible.

The original license is no where to be found on the computer, i.e. sticker, but I do have the DVD to upgrade to Win 8.1 from Win 7 that came with it, which I never did.

I thought of using the credentials of the account in my desktop to create a new one in laptop, Microsoft account, but I am reluctant to do so, as I don't know how that would impact my desktop.

So my question is:

How to activate Win10 on laptop at this point?. If a reinstall Win 8.1 will it recuperate my previous license, (doubt it). Can I use the Microsoft account in my desktop on laptop at the same time and try to activate?.

Is there any other way to activate? Calling Microsoft maybe...

Thank you very much in advance for your sugestions

So if I burn an ISO to a flash drive and have several keys for Win7, will I be activating the same copy of 7 or would they all act like separate CD's would?

I have 3 servers that I don't have an optical to and the USB Flash is the best idea for this. I'm sure this has been brought up before, but here goes anyway...

I'm installing a new MB/CPU in my computer this weekend. I own Windows XP Pro retail, and I've installed new MB's before, and everytime, I have to call in to activate, and I just tell them my old MB crapped out, and I had to install a new one.

Is there a limit to how many times I can do this? I truly only have it installed on this one 'computer'. I'm keeping the same VC, memory, HD's and OD's...

Thanks.

I believe there is a limit, but that it expires every 6 months or so. Assuming you don't make this a monthly thing, you shouldn't have an issue.

I have a server with a fully licensed, installed, and activated copy of WHS installed. It was activated immediatelly after install and nothing has been changed since.

Yesterday I had a provider-based network outage, and during the outage my WHS status Icon went red with a warning that "My evaluation period had 0 days left".

As soon as the outage was resovled, the icon went back green and the error disappeared.

Is WHS constantly phoning home and when it can't reach the mothership deems itself expired, or is this a bug ya think?

Answer:WHS Activation/WGA Bug?

I know you said "fully licensed, installed, and activated", but was it purchased or is it a RC? Those expire.

If it is a purchased item, then I hope (and would like to know how) you get to the bottom of it, as I plan on purchasing WHS before my RC version expires in early Feb.
