BSOD while playing videos or playing games (LoL) Error STOP : 0x00007A

Question: BSOD while playing videos or playing games (LoL) Error STOP : 0x00007A

Hello sevenforums Community,
since about month im getting Bluescreens, which never happened before in 4 years.
It usually get the when i watch streams on twitch (which didnt happen since 1 week on my account though) or currently while playing League of Legends.
But they dont come every game, so i can for example play 4 games in a row and nothing happens or i get 3 one them in one game. Also they can come at any game time. It is kind of random to me how they appear.
The last two days I got about 7 so i really need help from u guys.
In the last two weeks i always got this message (STOP : 0x00007A (0xFFFF6FC50023598,0xFFFFFFFFC000000E,0x000000002A991880,0xFFFFF8A0046B30BE) ) without a sound and the pc didnt instantly reboot.
But the last days the Blackscreen stayed like 4 second so i couldnt see the error message on it, so i dont know if the error changed but there was this buzzing sound.

I really appreciate help (and sorry for my english skills ^^)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Do you have the Atheros Network Adapter installed on your PC? If so, please update it and let us know.
The other dmp file wasn't too helpful - not sure if it was my windbg or if it was just corrupted.

Also can you run chkdsk?

Hi, I have this problem:

I've experienced BSOD crashes for about 3 months in my 2 year old built computer related to my GPU, more specifically while playing games, and ocasionally while playing videos in Windows Media Player. Sometimes the image freezes and it keeps playing sound, other times it goes to black and the system reboots automatically.

I initially run WhoCrashed to analyze the mini dump files, and it keep saying that is an nvidia driver problem (error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL).

I've reinstalled Windows with SP1 one month ago, cleaned all my pc parts, changed the memory sticks from position, stopped the OC of the cpu, tried different Nvidia drivers but the problem is still there.

Anyway, I've followed the BSOD post instructions and attached the analysis files.

My system:

MB: Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P
GPU: Zotac NVIDIA GTX 260 core216
CPU: AMD Phenom II x3 720 2.8 GHz @3.0 GHz
Kingston 2x2 GB DDR3 RAM Memory

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Recently my laptop (Lenovo Y560 w/ ATI mobility HD5730) started getting crashes. It gets BSOD (Error code 0x00000116) on playing videos or games. I can't even open a flash enabled website wthout getting a freeze or BSOD.

Laptop starts normally but once it gets a BSOD ,screen starts showing weird patterns on it and then again crashes just after boot up screen and this goes in a loop until I turn off my laptop and start it again after 5-10 minutes. After which its starts normally without any lines or patterns on screen.
I have already tried reinstalling ATI driver using driversweeper, but it hasn't resolved the problem.

I just want to know whether this is a hardware problem or a software issue.

Dump files and screenshots of screen after getting first BSOD are attached.
They are in this order -
1- BSOD
2- Choice screen
3- Weird alphabets screen that lasts for 2-3 seconds
4- Boot up screen
Thanks in advance

PS - Sorry for bad English. :/

Can you update the display driver either from AMD's site or from Lenovo's site?

Code:
fffff880`01000000 fffff880`01046000 atikmpag T (no symbols)
Loaded symbol image file: atikmpag.sys
Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\atikmpag.sys
Image name: atikmpag.sys

CheckSum: 0004A14C
ImageSize: 00046000
Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
It is very old, probably never got updated.

Also can you update the BIOS, from lenovo's site?

Code:
BiosVendor = LENOVO
BiosVersion = 30CN59WW
BiosReleaseDate = 06/30/2010
SystemManufacturer = LENOVO
SystemProductName = IdeaPad Y560
SystemVersion = Rev 1.0
BaseBoardManufacturer = Lenovo
BaseBoardProduct = KL3
BaseBoardVersion = Rev 1.0
It seems to be an old laptop .....

BTW, from the pictures it seems to be the GPU might be corrupted, too. If updating the display driver and the BIOS cannot fix the issue, better you take it to a hardware mechanic, as it should be out of warranty I guess.

EDIT: Oops ... sorry Harry, you have done it much better than me Ash please follow what x BlueRobot suggested.

Specifically BSoDed twice in 1 day, once when alt-tabbing from Dota 2, and the other when playing Wakfu. Chrome was active during both instances. I am not certain about the older crashes and I think that the last two are not connected to the others.

BlueScreenView gives the bug string for the 2 latest crashes as PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

Majority of the crashes point to ntoskrnl.exe in BlueScreenView, but I have heard that it is not the actual culprit in most cases.

So far I have run Memtest with no errors, passed a HDD scan, also Furmark and Video Memory Test have run with no problems. I'm not sure how to pinpoint the problem further or even whether it is hardware or software issue. However, I have not attempted to run any games since the BSoDs appeared.

I did update the Nvidia drivers with GeForce Experience and Msi/Intel drivers using LiveUpdate 5 after the earlier BSoD on the 28th as other BSoD threads said to ensure that all your drivers are updated. Daemontools Light and Alcohol 52% have been uninstalled since the 28th BSoD as well.

Hi guys,
I have windows 7 32-bit, previously I was using windows xp and with win XP I had the same problem and I installed windows 7 hoping that it may solve the issue but it didn't.

My PC specs are --->
Processor : Intel Core2Duo E7200 2.53Ghz
Motherboard: ECS 945GCT-M2
Graphics card : Nvidia 8400 GS
RAM : 2 GB
LAN CARD: Realtek onboard 8100C/810x Fast family ehthernet NIC
SOUND: IDT Audio onboard

My problem is---->
While playing games I can hear some audio pops at irregular intervals(10-15 seconds) and then the display freezes, sometimes I can hear the game audio even after the system freezes and sometimes I hear a regular continous 'brrrrr' sound after the freeze. The only option left is to restart the pc.
After the system restart a windows dialogue appears saying the following --->
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.4

First I thought that playing games was overheating my gpu or cpu but I have encountered display freeze even when I am watching video. Sometimes I can hear audio pops when the system is lying ideal

I have attached the minidumps. Plz help.
Thanks in advance

you are getting the WHEA error, this is pretty much exclusively a hardware based issue.
The only occurrences I have seen of it where damaged hardware was not involved was when overclocking was in use.

If you have anything overclocked I suggest removing that overclock now.

Code:
WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)

Since i'd been planning to do it anyway I clean installed windows 7 home premium 64bit hoping the issue would be solved, but it isn't. I haven't even tried to install any games, but after a video on the internet runs for a few minutes the sound starts skipping, the screen goes black and im greeted with the reboot screen. Any help? I also posted the info from the Seven forums diagnostic tool.

Hello All

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Cavi... Read more

Ok, so my computer started freezing about a week now while either playing videos or playing games. It doesn't happen right away though, happens randomly while playing games or watching videos. I can't remember if it happened while doing something else. Most of the time, the sound just bugs and loops and the screen freezes. Other times the pc freezes and immediately restarts. The BSOD only happened twice, the first time it didn't even display the full BSOD screen, just the top right of the screen. The last time it happened it showed the full BSOD and I took a picture. I could provide pictures if needed but i guess the information is already included in this file I attached. I ran a virus scan on Microsoft Security Essentials but nothing came up. I also just ran 1 pass of Memtest with no errors, but i will run it again overnight for more passes. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Answer:BSOD prob when playing certain games and videos

Uninstall the ASUS enhanced video drivers that came with your video card. You don't need them and they're known to cause problems. You may have to reinstall the Nvidia supplied drivers.

I have been getting a BSOD while either playing games like World of Warcraft, or even watching videos like youtube or netflix on both low and high resolutions.

I have attached the info you requested in the how to post thread.

Is Windows 7 . . .
- I have x64 Windows 7 Home Premium
- This is OEM install.
- I bought the system back in mid 2010?
- I have only reinstalled the OS once last year, I used the recovery partition to reinstall.

I do have AVG 2012 Free Edition installed on the system, along with Malware Bytes Pro Edition, the Resource and Performance tool apparently doesn't detect them. At the time of the scan UAC was diabled, it is enabled now, I disabled it for troubleshooting this issue.

Answer:BSOD while playing games or watching videos

Never mind on this topic, I decided to test drive the Windows 8 Customer Evaluation Copy, hopefully it fixes the issue, so far I like the new OS, it actually is running smoother on my system than Win7 did.

Hey all. I've been getting bsod's mainly when I am playing League of Legends, or any other game really. It's been ongoing for about 2 months now. These past couple weeks have been very bad, happening every day. It's inconsistent as well, I could play for hours and nothing happens. Or sometimes I get many BSOD in a span of a short time. I should also mention it has randomly restarted several times with no bsod. Also a few moments ago, I had a bsod and restarted my computer to a black screen. I restarted several times, until about the 5th time it finally booted into windows. This is all happening after I just did a fresh install of windows a couple days ago.

Hello everyone and thank you for your time. First of all I am a bit of a newb when it comes to PC's, your patience is appreciated. I have a Lenovo notebook thinkpad 2847-6qg, and I've been experiencing BSODS for about two months now. I've checked hundreds of posts, read a lot but I came up with no solution. The game that I play is dota 2. The crash is something like: screen freezes, I can still hear sounds for 2-3 seconds, after that the screen goes black flashes a bit and the pc restarts.
Potential useful info:
1. Originally I had 2x2gb RAM cards, I removed one which eventually broke, so now I only have 1 x 2gb ram.(Ran memtest for 12 passes 0 fails.)
2.My video card is an Ati mobility radeon hd 4500/5100 or 4500 or 545v depending on the driver I install.
3.On everest I cannot acces "gpu" , PCI/AGP video (from display) as well as SPD and Chipset(from Motherboard)
4.EVEREST: On motherboard details I get : Motherboard name: Unknown
5.EVEREST: On computer/sensor: my only temperatures readings are:CPU 38 C,Samsung HM250JI 39 C.
6. When I enter bios, which seems to be up to date (2012) I don't have any graphic options, on "display".
The only thing I have is the Monitor.
7.If I install GPU-Z it detects the GPU temperature at 42 C when in Windows, speed fan 30%, speedfan (RPM) --RPM , GPU load 0%
8.After a bsod sometimes, not always, I get artifacts on windows loading screen, from the 1st second the restart happens until it actually loads windows.
9.Sometimes I... Read more

I recently got a GTX 970 card which required me to upgrade my PSU and i bought EVGA SuperNova NEX 750B. I also reformat my windows 7 from 32bit to 64bit (Ultimate). I basically am experiencing random bsods where it says the error 'memory_management' its been happening for like 2-3 weeks to be honest. I mostly have been crashing out of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive when i launch the game and like when watching certain youtube videos like and sometimes i hit the replay button for a certain video and i do not see the video but can hear the audio just fine.

What steps have i taken to fix this issue on my own?:

- Clean Driver Installation for my nvidia gfx card
- Did a Memtest (friend helped me / told me about it) Came out with 0 Errors for my RAM.

This problem seems to happen when I play videos, or games. it doesn't happen every time, but it has happened 4 times in the last week, and started after resolving another BSOD issue, which was apparently driver related.

As this seems to happen with games, and videos, I'm thinking it may be either the video card, or the sound card. What I'm hoping is that this blue screen information can possibly help in determining which piece of hardware is causing these crashes.

Troubleshooting steps taken, and their results:

ran chkdsk c: /r - No problems were found
ran sfc /scannow - 1 problem was found, and corrected. Did not resolve issue
Windows Memory Diagnostics with extended test, cache setting default, and 2 passes - No problems were found
lowered ambient room temperature by 10 degrees F (in case it was an overheating issue) - no change, so it's not overheating.
Moved, and removed USB devices - No change
Full power reset - No change

Attached is the crash information as outlined in the BSOD Posting instructions.

Note: I am quite computer literate. I do all my own work on my computers, so don't be shy with technical information. If I don't understand something, I will surely ask.

It certainly appears to be audio-related, but there isn't a specific driver mentioned. Can you check for both audio driver and Windows Updates to see if a newer driver is available?

Been getting a lot of BSODs lately, they used to happen frequently then they kind of just stopped, and now they seem to be starting up again for some reason, so I decided to finally try and get some help. I've attached the minidump file and I did a driver verifier which resulted in a BSOD immediately as I tried to sign back into windows 8 stating "driver verifier detected violation". So this happened twice before I went back into safe mode and disabled driver verifier. There are a few minidump files before the 2 from tonight and they are just random BSOD's that have happened in the past week I guess. Hope I've done this correctly, and it is greatly appreciated for anyone who helps.

Hello there.

Basically i've been troubled with BSODs since month, pretty much since i've got this PC i haven't experianced any problems, however, after month and a bit i've started getting bluescreens pretty much too offten.
Today i got it 3 times in a row when i tried to watch single episode of naruto :P - equals 3 BSOD in 20 mins, so there we go im posting here hoping for a bit of help.

I'm running
Win 7 ultimate x64, box version. Reinstalled it like 3 times by now on this machine, 1st installation was pretty much out of BSODs at all, however i got some problems after clearing the other pc off this one so i basically reinstalled it around month and a half ago, quite a bit after i've started getting BSODs so i just reinstalled it again, results are pretty much the same.

Over the time, i've been using tools like daemon tools for virtual drives, few antivirs, including Kaspersky trial one. Point is - i've been reading throught tons of forums so far and first thing i've started checking after i got those BSODs were drivers.

I've got rid of DT since windows driver compability verify counted this one as incompatibie.

I've also uninstalled kaspersky once to try out new ver [got like 2 BSODs of kaspersky itself aswell].

I've been running memtest for round 3 hours, got no memory errors,
occt test caused bluescreen error today after like 15 mins, however i've got no idea wth is log of this program, i've just run stress test for RAM/CPU up there.

PC is quite a new one so im ... Read more

Answer:BSOD playing online videos/games.

I've menaged to get attachement up here, posting it down.

One more thing - so far i've been running second OCCT test and it seems it also crashed around 15 minute of test, althought there was no bluescreen, just test error. Thing is most common BSOD is system_service_exception one, i could assume it's driver thing however win driv ver. seems to don't see any of this problems + im running verifier right now the built-in. Seems ok so far.

I have also mentioned that i've reinstalled win like 3rd time now since i got this pc so i can assume it's quite fresh install, however filled with MOBO drivers and Clone for alternative to DT.

Hello DMOC now mate unless I am very wrong you are either running a non genuine copy of Windows or you have installed one that does not have Service Pack 1 installed after the older Windows 7 disk was installed can you verify what you have on board.

i have had the problem of BSOD since i have purchased this computer the cpu has 8GB
ram but when i installed a 64 bit os the BSOD keep appearing in 5 to 10 mins of restarting. so i went to my computer dealer and asked him tolook into the problem and he said it might be a ram problem and he changed it but still there was no remedy to BSOD
then i came home and installed 7 ultimate 32 bit it runs well but if i play more than an hour a BSOD will appear or even while browsing.
then i also made a clean install of windows 7 32 bit and dnloaded all drivers from net
and after i installed ati catalyst the problem again started and then i tried all kinds of registry cleaners, kernel debugger and wat not but still after an year of purchase i have not got relief from BSOD .

So basically my computer has been crashing for about two weeks now. I have just switched from Ultimate 32-bit to 64-bit and they were both clean installs. I was thinking about buying a registry cleaner but i guess ill come to the pros first

Answer:BSOD while watching videos, playing games or music

Hello Vlandor.

Since you are having problems when running something I have to ask you how old the hardware is. I had a similar problem my self not too lobg ago and it ended turning out to be the harddrive that was faulting.

My recommendation would be to run some benchmarking programs to see if you might get some kind of clues that way. Maybe you can find a bench mark that crashes your computer almost instantly compared to the other programs. I would recommend starting of with Prime95 for CPU stress testing and 3DMark for stress testing of your GPU. Please come back and tell us the results when you are done with the two.

Also i have to ask if you did any changes to the computer before these problems started to accur. Also a registry cleaner will not help you if you have tried a clean install of windows.

whenever i play a game or watch a video i get a BSOD, even though i've updated my bios and videocard drivers. this is my spec
(i've tried to upload the TSF_vista_support zip but it keeps failing)
the bluescreen usually says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and happens usually 4 - 7 times a day, and i can usually get about 30 minutes out of a game at the most before a bluescreen occurs

Hi,

This may or may not be a memory-related issue. Try downloading and booting into Memtest86+ and see if any errors get flagged during testing.

Hope this helps.

Hi guys, first of all I'm gonna start by telling you I've done all sorts of troubleshooting ways there are for all this error messages that my PC keeps showing me. Recently I've upgraded my Motherboard,CPU and Rams, and ever since the PC is always having blue screens when I'm playing games or rendering videos. I've checked the temperatures but there are all normal. Pc is completly clean and I've recently put thermal paste in my cpu. I've also installed the system again. I suspect my nvidia drivers keep causing this blue screens, because everytime I unnistall them through safe mode the blue screens stop. I've tried installing older versions but the problem still persists. I'm posting this because I'm beggining to be pretty desperate since I can't play a game for more than 30min and it constantly bsod in sony vegas while rendering. Needless to say I did a malware scan, virus scan, memory problems scan, chkdsk /scan and found 0 problems...

Hello my laptop started crashing every time i play games and watch videos on player.

Code:
Windows 7 Ultimate x32 OEM
I reformatted it a month ago so i thought it would be fix but its still not fixed... I also thought it would be the heat or the usage of memory but i still haven't found what the problem is i keep getting random BSOD's about usbport.sys and other but i get more error codes....

Answer:BSOD when playing games or watching videos on a player...

Heat:
- only use the laptop on a hard surface - with nothing blocking any of the vents.
- use a laptop cooling pad if possible
- blow out all vents with canned air (DO NOT use a vacuum cleaner or an air compressor, they can damage the components).
- ensure that the fan comes on and is blowing air out of the vent (may not happen at startup, but should happen after using it for a while).

If you suspect memory, try these free diagnostics: Hardware Diags
If you reinstall Windows to fix a problem, and the problem remains - then it's most likely that this is a hardware problem. The diagnostics will help to rule out some of that.

I notice a Hotspot Shield network component. We've seen issues with this program recently. I'd suggest uninstalling it to test and see if it's the cause of the BSOD's.

Memory dumps blame hardware, with one blaming your video hardware.
Update the video drivers from the PC manufacturer's website (yours date from 2009).
If problems continue, then run the video tests from the hardware diagnostics link above.

Uninstall SpeedFan - one of it's drivers dates from 1996!

Update drivers for your Media Card reader - they date from 2008

Your CIR (Infrared) device drivers date from 2007 - please update them also.

I've been having this problem for months now and can not figure out what is causing it. Every couple of weeks my pc would bsod almost instantly every time I watch a video on YouTube and this can happen for days or weeks, then the problem will go away for a few weeks and suddenly come back again. I have tried so many different fixes but the problem always seems to come back. 2 weeks ago I did a complete wipe and reinstall of windows 7 and guess what, 2 days ago it started to bsod again just like it did before. Can someone please help me?

Edit: Okay, now it is crashing just from browsing Google :/

Answer:BSOD when watching videos online and sometimes while playing games

Also another thing that has been happening which is unrelated and not necessarily a problem is every now and then I will hear a buzzing/whining sound from inside of my computer and it will change pitch whenever I move the mouse or open new windows or do anything which changes what is on screen when in game menus (I noticed the pitch change most when going through the options menu in minecraft) its very strange are hard to explain but does anyone know what it is and if it is normal?

Hi ! So here's the problem, I regularly get BSOD while playing video games or watching videos on YouTube or just doing normal tasks and I'm pretty sure it's related to my usb m-audio sound card. Sometimes it's a BSOD and sometimes, the graphics just freeze and nothing respond (mouse, keyboard) (In that case, I'm obligated to physically restart/shut down my PC). Also, it never happened before I got my new pc that has the same os but not all compenents are the same.
Almost everytime I'm on my PC I'm listening to some music with that soundcard exept when I do homeworks...

For the past few months I've been getting frequent BSODs. It seems that the more intensive programs or games cause my laptop to BSOD quicker, but doing something as simple as watching a Youtube videos still causes a crash after a while.

I believe the earliest issues started occurring when I went for that Windows 10 upgrade (http://i.imgur.com/CLsirHE.png) due to my video drivers apparently not being compatible past Windows 7. When I found out my driver wasn't compatible I reinstalled Windows 7, the graphical glitches cleared up, but the BSODs continued. So, about a month ago I tried a fresh format and installation of Windows 7 hoping it would fix it, but there are still issues. Attached is the results of the DM Log Collector covering each crash since the format.

If you need any more information, please let me know.

I have my laptop connected to a Samsung TV which I use as my second monitor, the BSOD didn't happen at the start, but it started when I try to unplug the HDMI cable from my computer I get the BSOD.

It doesn't happen all the time just randomly. . . so I thought the problem could be with my HDMI or the Port. . . but as time passed, the BSOD also occurred when I am switching to/from fullscreen when I play games like, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, Dota 2 or League of Legends. . . it also happens when I am watching movies when I try to switch to/from Normal Window to fullscreen even if the Samsung TV is not connected through HDMI.

Please help.

Hello, and thanks in advance to anyone that puts any thought into troubleshooting my BSoD issues.

I recently upgraded my computer and have installed all new hardware except for my HDD. (I did do a complete wipe and fresh install of Windows on my existing HDD after installing the new hardware, however.) Since upgrading my computer, I've been getting BSoDs that seem to rotate between three different error codes. The BSoD crashes often happen while playing various video games or while watching videos on YouTube or news sites.

I've tried everything that I can think of to resolve the issues and am at my wit's end at this point. Any assistance trying to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Possible helpful information:
I have performed a clean install of Windows on the HDD an additional 3 times since the original install after the build.
I have run MemTest86 on all ram sticks at the same time, as well as each ram stick individually, with zero errors.
I have replaced my new video card (including drivers) with an older borrowed video card thinking that my new card was defective. I've still had crashes.
I've only installed the video card drivers and not the additional programs packaged with the driver download.
I've had crashes while watching videos downloaded onto my computer and while streaming videos online.
The games I've played leading up to crashes are: Neverwinter Online, EverQuest, League of Legends.
I have not attempted to overclock any hardware.

Counterfeit installations such as yours contained heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable. For this reason, many analysts won't attempt it.

My recommendation is to install a genuine Windows 7. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable. If you still experience BSOD's ona genuine installation, we will be happy to help you solve the problem

Over the last weeks I have been getting BSODs seemingly at random, however only when I am playing games or watching video. I am getting pretty tired of it, and decided to come here for help. I don't think there is much regularity to the BSODs, they seem to come at a random time, but rarely after more than 30 mins of video or gaming. I have had no problems at all while surfing/writing, even in several hours long sessions. I've attached my dump files as instructed.

System specs are roughly: Dell XPS L502X, Windows 7 Home Premium x64, Intel Core i7 2630QM, nvidia GeForce GT 540m, 8 GB RAM.

I've been at a complete loss here for the past two weeks. Today was the first time I tried to take matters into my own hands. I uninstalled drivers and reinstalled them. I thought I was in the clear but after playing League of Legends my computer BSOD on me about 10 minutes in. This also happens while watching any youtube or flash video type stuff.

I would really appreciate some help as to whether this is a hardware problem or a software problem although I'm thinking hardware atm.

Hi there.

The last 4 days or so i have been experiencing roughly 2-3 BSOD's pr day on my system.

These faults usually happens when i am playing games or streaming videos online.

I have no hardware changes on the computer in a few months and i am not skilled enough to find out what these errors might be.

I have attached the zip file with all the info needed from the diagnostic tool.

Hope i can get some tips on what is making my otherwise very stable computer act up suddenly.

All the current software i have has been working flawlessly for months.

Thnx in advance.

This BSOD happens mostly when I'm trying to run games. I don't do anything particularly graphically intensive on my computer, mostly WoW and things like Starbound and League of Legends. It also crashes occasionally while watching YouTube videos though this is much less frequent. The research I've done seems to imply it's some kind of issue with my drivers, but I have no idea how I would begin to solve that. I've tried re-installing my video drivers from scratch and it hasn't solved the issue. If you can do anything to help me out, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

Ive recently bought this computer and for some reason I continue to obtain the BSOD error 0x000001D and 0x3d these are the only two I have encountered so far and they both come up when I am ether

1- Playing tera online (Which my comp is fully capable of handling)

2- Watching videos ( I doesn't happened automatically but after a while of watching a couple it goes berserk and goes BSOD)

3- Exiting from a game (Tera mostly gives me this)

I have so far cleaned my comp aswell as upgraded my graphics card ( I don't know why but when I go to the amd website to upgrade my graphics card it upgrades my Graphics to 2013 but when I try to upgrade it through "upgrade drivers +devices" it drops to 2011) I still have not

1- Removed my memory stick/s ( I have no experience in this and do not wish to mess up my computer more than it already is unless someone can give me a thorough walk through)

I am having a BSOD ONLY when playing games. I've got an SSD(updated) and an HDD(updated) with a HD Radeon 7870(updated).

As you can see I've done the typical drill, update the firmware on the SSD, graphics card and update all drivers.

I've done this for the most part. I've done updates on drivers for the main componets, graphics, sound, mobo, ssd, etc.

Attached is my minidump file. I thank you and look forward to our interactions and hope we come to a conclusion.

I recently built a computer for someone, with relevant specs as follows:

Gigabyte SKT-1155 PA65-UD3-B3
Intel 2500K
Komputerbay 1333Mhz PC3 10600 / PC3 10666 8-8-8-24 1.5v 8 GB KIT
ASUS GTX 560

Ever since I delivered it to him, it's been either freezing (often with popping from his headphones) indefinitely or producing BSODs. These can be as often as a couple of times a day.

Generally the crashes occur when he is gaming or watching Youtube videos, but sometimes they also occur upon restarting the computer immediately after a crash.

Since we both have little time on our hands, it's become a game of trying to troubleshoot the computer remotely, thus far with limited success. I've tried replacing the memory as I thought this might have been the issue, but that didn't help.

I would be immensely grateful if somebody could have a look at the contents of his MiniDump folder, as having tried to interpret them myself I haven't got very far.

Thanks

Hi, recently I have been suffering system instability issues but cannot for the life of me figure out which driver is causing the problem, or if it is indeed hardware related.
I have stresstested my CPU with Prime95, my GPU with various benchmarks and have run memtest successfully. This is why I am leaning more towards the driver issues.
My Dumps and specs should be included in the zip. Help would be much appreciated.

Hello everyone,

I hope I can find some help here with these crashes I have since several months now.

While playing games like CS:GO or H1Z1, I have a lot of crashes to desktop and sometimes BSOD. The BSOD can happen also while watching streams & listening to music. So far, I had these ones : 0x1000007E / dxgmms1.sys+1DFA5 / 0x0000003B / atikmdag.sys+C4DE0.

I think I tried everything in my knowledge to solve the problem but it still didn't resolve the problems. On the hardware side :
- Switched the memory sticks ;
- Switched the graphic card (my brother has the same one as me and it never failed him. Still it didn't resolve the problems on my computer) ;
- Switched to Marvell SATA controllers then to the 3Gb Intel controllers ;
- Used a USB sound card thinking that it may have something to do with the audio on the motherboard;
- Changed the graphic card slot to the PCI 8X.

On the software side :
- I reinstalled all my drivers using the suggestions made by this site : Easily explore your PC & using also some other softwares like SlimDriver ;
- I formated & reinstalled win 7 on my SSD ;
- I installed win 7 on my HDD thinking that my SSD was the problem ;
- I uninstalled the KB3022345 and KB3068708 updates ;
- Uninstalled my antivirus (MSE) & disabled my firewall ;
- Used the sfc /scannow command without any problems detected ;

Hi,

I'm new to this forums and this is my first post.
I upgraded my graphics card driver 2-3 days ago with no problems until today when
my laptop crashed couple of times when I was playing LeagueOfLegends, and again when playing a video (using VLC). When I disable my graphics card driver all is fine, but when I play a game with the graphics card enabled I get a blue screen.

Answer:BSOD playing games or watching videos (graphics card probably)

Welcome to the forum.

I did not yet to analyze your dumps, before I do that please uninstall Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120%. They use a file sptd.sys which is notorious for BSOD.

Do you use bit defender antivirus? Please uninstall and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

You have a bunch of programs at start up, keep the ones you actually need and disable the rest following method 3 from the tutorial below.
Startup Programs - Change

Post back once you've done these.

I will analyze your dumps once I'm home.

It occurs most often while playing certain less graphically intensive games (Mafia II, Overlord II) and almost not at all while playing things like Witcher 2 or LA Noire.

It's a brand new HD 7770 so I'm trying to rule out everything else despite the fact that the BSOD points to atikmpag.sys, especially since this bluescreen issue started after i upgraded to from 32bit to 64bit Windows 7.

Ran furmark for ~30 minutes and the GPU was stable, noticed some very minor artifacts at the beginning of the test (happened once and couldn't reproduce it though) so i suspected it might be because of how the GPU handles the switch from low-performance mode to high performance mode. Forced high performance mode through MSI Afterburner and the issue still occured.

Ran Driver Sweeper and installed the latest drivers from AMD (Catalyst 13.12), still nothing.

Thought it might be a 64 bit compatibility issue with the sound card drivers as well (since it's a pretty shady model) so i did the whole driver sweeper and latest drivers from Creative thing. Didn't work. Note that I'm using this because the onboard Realtek chip stopped working like 5 years ago. I think i fried it messing around at the back panel trying to hook up a TV.

Naturally, I suspected the dodgy Zeppelin RAM (bought it recently along with the videocard) and ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and ran the games only with the Geil RAM as well but the issue still occurred. I wanted to rule them out without wasting hours runnin... Read more

Hey people, I have an incredibly annoying and quite frankly hopeless case of a crash whenever I play any sort of game, be it from Age Of Empires to Battlefield 4 I get the same goddamn problem regardless.

The screen blacks, and a BSOD appears, saying it is file atikmpg.sys, now I have tried the usual escapade of fix attempts, reinstalled drivers, uninstalled entirely, wiped regs, installed old drivers, flashed bios, updated bios, ran memtest, prime 95 and furmark and no crash and all passed, I also have re installed windows a total of eight times to fix this and nothing works.

Is it possible that Dx11 is to blame for this and are there any ideas of how to fix my problems, or is it just plain incompatibility?

I have attached the file as directed

I would appreciate any help you guys can provide before I return the motherboard in a rage.

Hello,

First off, thank you to anyone who takes the time to read about my problem. I am not expert in computers, but I can usually hold my own. This problem has me completely baffled and I will appreciate any and all help.

I am running Windows 7 professional 64-Bit (student version, pretty sure it is retail), and I having some trouble with my PC. As the title says, I am having completely random BSOD's that are getting progressively worse over time. At first i thought it was a motherboard / RAM issue but I have performed every test I could think of and they all test out fine. Unfortunately, I do not have any known good RAM or another motherboard to test with.

I am pretty sure hardware is causing this issue, I just cannot determine what hardware it is. I have run memtest 86+ without any issues. Memtest86 gave 250,000 errors on test number 7 but after poking around the internet that seems to have an issues with modern CPUs.

I have also ran PRIME95 blend test for about 12 hours trying to coax a BSOD out of the sytem, but it stayed rock solid the entire test. Same thing when I tried to run windows driver verifier (although it was for more like 2 hours, not 12 with verifier).

I use Bluescreenview to look at the minidumps, but I am at a complete loss at what could be causing it. The most common cause is the kernel itself, with the NTFS.sys causing it as well sometimes.

Hi all,
I've been getting pretty frequent BSODs ever since updating to win 8.1.

As far as I can recall, they seem to have been triggered by playing Steam games (CounterStrike, to be precise). From then on, the BSODs will pop up even when I'm not in a game (and without Steam running in the background).

The BSODs are (sequentially):

1) DRIVER_VERIFIED_DETECTED_VIOLATION
2) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
3) A completely blue screen with little white squares
4) KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
5) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (frequent appearance)
6) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (avgloga.sys)
7) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (dxgmms1.sys)
8) NTSC_FILE_SYSTEM (Ntfs.sys)
9) SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
10) SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (dxgkrnl.sys)

I've removed AVG antivirus after BSOD #6, but they still keep coming.

So I did a clean install of 8.1, installed all the latest drivers (from the ASRock and AMD website) and hoped for the best.

It ran smoothly for a day or two, and that was when I thought I'd fire up Steam and give it a try.

Barely 10 secs into a game and the BSOD appeared:

'irql_not_less_or_equal'
I rebooted it and an hour later this guy came up:

'attempted execute of no execute memory'

Then the system ran with no hiccups for the rest of the night.

This morning I got a bit cold turkey, so I went into Steam again for about 30 mins. No BSOD!

I'm wondering, does any of you guys here know what is going on?

By the way, Here's the link to the minidump:

I have this blue screen error code while gaming. This happens whenever the graphics card is loaded it seems. I have also had intermittent freezes with no blue screen just come back and the desktop is locked.

Setup:
Processor - Core 2 Quad q8200 2.33ghz @ 3.33ghz on Zalman CNPS5X Performa Air cooler
Motherboard - eVga 780i SLI (non ftw version)
Memory - 8gb pc8500 1066mhz G. Skill pro
Power Supply - OCZTech 900watt ModExtreme
Video Cards - eVga GTX 460 1gb 2x SLI
Hard Disk - Western Digital Caviar 1tb 32mb cache 7.2k
Background:

The issue seems occur primarily when the video card is loaded. During games and even browsing streams on the internet.

below are two dump files

Answer:BSOD STOP: 0x00000135 Playing Battlefield 3 and other games

This is a new dump file since a fresh format and is an iso copy of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit from this website. I decided that as I had persistent issues and no one here seemed to have a clue I would try a fresh install.

The same issue is occurring with ntoskrnel.exe yet for the life of me I cannot figure this out.

Below is a .zip of the dump file. Please let me know if you have any clues

Hello. I've been having a problem with my computer during the last month, when i Watch a video(either on internet or in my pc), or try to play some games my computer sometimes restarts.
1)If it restarts:
- I either get a bsod saying device driver stuck in an infinite loop.
- Or I get some zebra pattern image on monitor (usually greenish color) and it restarts.
2) Sometimes it doesnt restart and i just get the zebra pattern image on my monitor for 1 sec and then the image is restored back to normal.

What can i do to fix?

Hi, so for the last few months Ive gotten a worse and worse BSOD. I noticed it first in the flight simulator when I would zoom when looking out the canopy and I would see distant enemy fighters and then I would get BSOD just as i saw them. Then Flying my RC simulator I get BCOD very quick. Now it seems when watching a TV show online and clicking on a video of something funny or interesting it will get BSOD. To me it seems as if anytime the computer is working hard on something visual it shuts down for the BSOD. Anyways here is the info needed, here is from when i restart and it shows me the "details", and following the instructions ive attached the file I made with the DM log. Thank you guys. Im considered a Newb going into this "deep" with computers but im a quick learner so I hope you will stick with me so I can get this figured out So i can start my online video editing class. Thanks!

These bugchecks indicate a Machine Check Exception has occurred which means the hardware has signified (via a standard messaging interface) through the processor driver that an correctable hardware error has occurred ,the system then bugchecks on purpose, the result is a 0x124 error.

It looks like a very strong indication of a bad CPU, given that all your dump files show this:

Code:
Error : DCACHEL1_DRD_ERR (Proc 0 Bank 0)
Status : 0xb400200069000135
Address : 0x0000000032c10c00
Misc. : 0x0000000000000000
A level 1 cache data read error on the primary processor of the first memory bank, this is a consistent error within your bugchecks, this is bad, especially on the first processor.

I recommend running Prime95 to find out.

Stress test your CPU with Prime95

I recommend running Prime95 for around 2 hours

 Warning

As with most stress tests your component's temperature will rapidly increase.
It is advised that you download a temperature monitoring program like HWmonitor
Keep an eye on your temperatures and stop the tests if it starts to overheat

Try taking out the CMOS battery on the motherboard then placing it back in to ensure no improper settings have been made.

Post back the results.

This issue has been going on for about 2 months now and I have not changed anything in my computer since before the crashes. I am getting multiple stop errors, and it only crashes when i'm playing games (mainly WoW)
I've attached the minidumps, any help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Answer:BSOD dxgmms1.sys multiple stop errors playing games

Welcome to SF gamerak228 .
The biggest offender appears to be as you said World of Warcraft.
Did the game receive any updates recently?

Does the BSOD's happen with other games / other circumstances, if so what are they?
Just for trouble shooting purposes go ahead and physically remove the GPU from the system
and use the PC as you normally would using the integrated graphics.

Hello guys. So here is my issue i dont really know how to specific it further then this still hope it will help.

I have been getting BSOD for a while now and it's getting to the point i cant do a single thing on the computer. I did the config for dumps and so on and ended up with this RAR file with all the info i assume. I mostly get the bluescreen when i try to watch anime etc on googlechrome. It never works it's a matter of seconds before the BSOD comes. But when watching it on other browsers like opera it works just fine "mostly" even there it bluescreens from time to time. And then there is when it's most fatal, Playing onlinegames. Whenever I play online games like World of warcraft, League of Legends, Heroes of Neweart etc etc etc i risk getting bluescreens. It differs very much from game to game how often the bluescreens appear and it seems to not be preformance related since sometimes i play constantly for hours when maxing out games and pushing the computer to it's limits when it comes to frames. And still the bluescreen lies in dorment waiting for a more suitable interrupt for me. From the looks of it the bluescreen is related mostly to my operatingsystem more then commponents after i looked at the dumpfiles via "Bluescreenviewer".

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this and i hope you guys can help me with this. also this is my first post so I maybe did this typical "bad thread", Still i hope this will get me atleast closer to... Read more

Hi Guys,

I have issues with my desktop. I randomly get the bsod (kernel data inpage error). I thought it started after I installes the new ATI drivers. So I tried older drivers but without any result. After that I thought it was an issues with Win 7 64bit. So I installed 32bit. But still I get the bsdod.

can you please help?

Win 7 32 bit

hardware about two years old.
I have a new installed os.The old one started giving trouble after 2 years.

Answer:BSOD randomly after playing games or playing movies )

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

Hey guys so for the past few days I have been getting BSOD when I play some sort of videos in my browser be it mozilla or chrome. It all started on 8/14 and I checked out the forums and internet seeking the answer but did not find anything definitive. The bsod did not happen for a few days until yesterday and today and that is why I am posting it here. Everytime it seems to be due to the address ntoskrnl.exe+153ca0. The thing that baffles me is it happens when I play flash videos online but has never happened when I played games even in the highest settings.

Also this BSOD happened after I installed a new AMD R7 260x graphics card. I went through the procedure to do a clean install but to no avail.

Here are my pc specs: hp p7-1414
Motherboard: MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine)
Processor: AMD A8-5500
Memory: 6gb
Video graphics: Integrated graphics -> Upgraded to AMD R7 260x
Power supply: Internal 300w -> Upgraded to Corsair CX600 600 W

Thank you in advance guys

Riva Tuner (along with MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.

Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains... Read more

BSOD when playing videos, error 0x00000116, atikmpag.sys

Laptop model: HP laptop Pavilion Dv6-6003tx
Laptop specs: Contact HP Support and Customer Service | HP? Support

Happens within 10mins to 2hrs of online video streaming for example using YouTube. I haven't tried playing an offline video from other sources to see if it happens.
It use to happen when i play games like Call of Duty and League of Legends and at the same time i would video stream and usually it happens when i tab over to the video streaming before the full reformatting was done.

Most of the time it would start off with "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered".
Than the BSOD happens after.

I would say as of now playing games would not really trigger this issue. It is more of when videos are streaming from websites. And sometimes switching back from full screen to the small windowed section or the other way around on the website would also trigger "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" and the BSOD errors.

This has been persisting for awhile even after having a fully reformatted windows on all drives.
All drivers and windows updates has been done with HP Support Assistant and official windows 7 online updates

98 Percent chance that after 2 games the PC will crash. If I get lucky the 2 percent will prevail and it will crash in the 4th game. After the crash the PC will not boot and will just flash No Signal in the monitor after 5 - 24( if I also get lucky it will boot 5 hours after the Crash)

Answer:BSOD playing games on new PC. error

No dmps included in upload try this method.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Sma... Read more

Hi all,

After about a week of self diagnosis and doing everything possible, I come to you as my last resort. For the past week and a half, my PC has blue screened while playing pretty much every game I have. It used to do it very infrequently, and started while playing Assassin's Creed III. Since then, it's happened once during BioShock Infinite, and it happens pretty much all the time in Far Cry 3.

So, what have I done? I've cleaned the registry with CCleaner, use a driver cleaner to wipe my nVidia driver installation and reinstall, cleaned out my PC of all dust, made sure the video card was installed properly, etc, etc. I've pretty much done everything possible, and I still can't really come to a solid conclusion.

So, here I am, humbled and broken asking for help from those far more knowledgeable than I. My dump file from your wonderful Windows 7 diagnostic tool is below. If you could look through that and find something, anything, that could be causing this, I will be forever in your debt.

Thanks! (Oh, and you can find all my specs in my profile).

Attachment 262950

After reading additional threads on this forum, I have tried a new approach that seems to somewhat work. I have pushed Far Cry 3 down to medium settings and it seems to work fine now. I was going off of the recommended settings from nVidia Experience before, and I got a solid 30 FPS from it. It didn't seem like it was putting much stress on the card, and it wouldn't really explain why it blue screened ... Read more

Hi everyone I hope someone can help me with this. I bought a new rig 2 weeks ago and I keep getting random freezes/lockups whenever I run a game, it can be around 15mins to 2 hours. It forces me to restart manually then I get an error message.

Answer:BSOD error when playing games.

Hi. . .

I took a look at the three dump files that you attached and found the following:

STOP error - 0x0000010e, (0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) with dxgkrnl.sys , a DirectX driver, as the probable cause.

Now, a 0x10e indicates that the video memory manager has encountered a condition that it is unable to recover from. The only parameter of interest is the first 0x2 - An attempt was made to destroy a non-empty process heap. The process running at the time of the BSOD was 3DMark06.exe, by Futuremark Corporation and as you most likely know is for 3d game performance benchmarking purposes. If you have not done so, one solution that I found is to run this program at an Elevated level - right-click and select Run as Administrator.

Unfortunately, your installation appears to be counterfeit, you seem to have a OEM_SLP key on a retail motherboard, please format and install with a genuine key.
