BSOD, unable to determine exact cause

Question: BSOD, unable to determine exact cause

Been receiving numerous BSOD for months. I never was able to determine the exact cause the first time. Most of the time the error occurs during a game such as Skyrim, Diablo 3. However, sometimes the error happened when watching videos on YouTube or even while idle.

Every time I thought I fixed it, I get a new one. Most of the time it was IRQ less than or equal. I swapped to an older card and it was less frequent, but still got them. Im back to the original card and still get the errors. Sometimes going days without errors, sometimes cant even go 20 minutes without one.

Im a bit lost in the dark on this one, documentation on the web point every direction, blaming video drivers, windows programs and even wireless adapters.

Preferred Solution: BSOD, unable to determine exact cause

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: BSOD, unable to determine exact cause

The TP link network adapter is old.

Heya!

I seem to be getting the BSOD when playing games, most recently during a game of Dota2.

When the BSOD does occur my computer hangs and a weird, electronic - it's hard to describe - whining sound comes through the speakers.

I've run the SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe as per the instructions. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Answer:BSOD Unable to determine origin

Hi bickas.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall the program at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
I would suggest you to uninstall Viscosity Virtual Adapter V9.1, at least as a test.

I built this computer about a year ago. Things were running smooth up until recently. I m usually pretty good at figuring out what is causing Errors on my computers but I cannot figure out what is causing this one. I do see kernel Errors in the event log but that is only about a bug check after it crashes.
I reinstalled windows
Updated the firmware on my C Drive and Motherboard
Installed windows updates
updated by graphics card drivers
Ran disk check on my C drive
I have attached all the logs. Thanks in advance for all the help.

I have the ThinkPad T60p (2007 model) and Lenovo's spec sheet says it supports up to 4GB but not on the Intel 945PM and GM chipsets. However I'm unable to tell which chipset I have. I tried Belarc and it didn't mention any of the chipsets that Lenovo mentions. Does Windows (XP) or Lenovo have a utility I can use to identify this or all of the hardware I have?

Solved!

Answer:Max RAM? Unable to determine hardware

Welcome to the forum!

While your ThinkPad will recognize 4GB of RAM in BIOS, only 3GB will be usable regardless of OS used, due to a chipset limitation.

This holds true for all R60/e, T60/p, X60/s/T and Z61e/m/p/t ThinkPads.

Occasionally, my entire system will just hang and either be forced to restart, or, very rarely, it will be able to regain control and continue working. I've ran memtest and memtestx86 to determine if the cause is my ram, but both tests showed the ram is working fine. The cause could be my GPU, an ASUS R9 290, but I have already done two RMA's to have the card repaired.

To get a bit of insight on these BSOD's, my system is very unstable for most games. When running Rust, my system seems to be extremely stable and can run the game for eternity. Whilst watching videos on youtube, the system is somewhat stable, the potential of a crash is still there, but I am free to do as I please for hours. Now, when playing other games, such as: League of Legends, Garry's Mod, Fallout: New Vegas, Bordelands 2, the system is extremely unstable. The most I can get is a few hours and crashing is extremely frequent.

I have been told that doing a bios update fixes most problems of an unstable system, but my motherboard rejected the latest bios that I tried to use in the update. I am afraid I have nothing left up my sleeve, and thus, must turn to these forums.

I have used the DM Log Collector program, so the ZIP is attached below. I am hoping to have this problem resolved soon as I must escape this elo hell in League of Legends and reach my true potential: Challenjour.

Answer:Strange BSODs, Unable to Determine Cause Alone

So let's go through all that I do know and what I think I know.

System is somewhat unstable. BSODs are occurring a few times a day and seem to be reducing their occurrence as the days go on.

When the system crashes, there is not Blue Screen displayed, the system automatically restarts.

It would appear that Google Chrome could be possibly causing these crashes as I am able to play games for a longer period of time with Google Chrome closed. When it is open, the system will crash more frequently and even crash whilst I am watching videos or looking on various forums.

Some games retain stability for longer, Rust, World of Warcraft. Other games have some stability to them, League of Legends, Fallout: New Vegas. And other games will almost always crash within the first hour, Garry's Mod, Borderlands 2. So these crashes really depend on a factor. A factor that I do not know because I cannot read these .dmp files and someone has yet to view this thread and read them to me.

It's really a game of guessing and I am losing.

Hi,
this has been a long standing issue.... I have never been able to send emails using an SMTP mailer. Never!

I am on a Mac (with Parallels). I use Bluehost for hosting. I have even tried a VPN to get this resolved and nothing works. Ever. But I am getting close to the heart of the issue after many years of trying (This issue has financially crippled my business - so any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated)

Here are some of the things that I found online that may be of use...

Answer:BSOD without an exact pattern

Hello copax5 and welcome to Sevenforums.

BSOD Analyse

How long have you been running Windows 7 on this motherboard? I believe that your hardware barely can support running Windows 7. Your BIOS is from 2007 which could be problematic.
Here are some of my suggestions:
Search your hardware parts on the Windows 7 Compatibility Center, and ensure that Microsoft has approved the product to be 7 ready.(For an automatic check, you can use the Upgrade Advisor)

Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows
If your system is compatible with 7, I have some suggestions afterwards.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,
Frederik

Dell Inspiron 9400 LT
Win XP Pro

XP updaes will not install, and it takes 10 minutes for it to start up. Browsers don't always take me where I want to go.

ETC.

I reviewed a similiar situation in another post and am going to try those tecniques.

Answer:My Dell 9400 is infected, but I am unable to determine by what.

That slow start could be caused by too many items in startup, a failing hdd, a very fragmented hdd or malware.
Suggest you backup all important files or create an image of the entire drive and store it on an external medium. If the
hdd is failing, the more you use it the more likely it will become unbootable and unable to recover files.

Use CCleaner to cleanup the crud. Once you have done that open CCleaner and click on Tools and choose Startups.
At the bottom of that page you will see a button when clicked will allow you post the list of programs presently starting up
at boot. Post that list back here.

After you have backed up the computer and posted the list of startups you can run some programs to hopefully find and
remove whatever adware and malware is on the computer.

Use the instructions for Rkill, MBAM, AdwCleaner, Junkware Removal Tool, and Eset online scanner in your previous topic for a different computer.
Make sure that all active security programs are stopped from running/ disabled before running the scans.

Hi,  I have recently bought a Lenovo G580.  Lenovo Solution Center has a permanent warning saying it is 'Unable to determine the warranty status'.  I have been onto the Lenovo support site, check warranty status page and enter the serial number, it says 'Machine Type and Serial not found in iBase'.  What does this mean?  How can I check the warranty status (bought from a reputable retailer, so I assume there's some kind of warranty attached) and how can I get rid of this message out of Lenovo Solution Center?!Thanks.

Would be most appreciative if you could help me identify this ransomware.  It has infected both my mother's and my father's computers.  I am only able to provide a screen shot of the ransomware message, which I uploaded to the ID Ransomware tool.  Unable to figure out how to attach the screen shot to this post, however.

It is a white text, blue background message, with two additional warning popups from a "Microsoft Support Desk" that provides a toll free number to call.  It does not ask for money in the message, but my father (unfortunately) did call the number, at which point they asked him for a lot of information about his computer and network settings, and eventually were able to take control of his computer by doing a screen share, at which point my father says the cursor was moving around on the screen by itself and lots of windows were being opened and changes were being made.  Then, the "help desk" people demanded money and threatened to report him to the authorities if he did not pay a fee for them to fix the problems, citing evidence of "illegal activities" they had located on his computer.  My father is a 71 year old retiree with not so much as a parking ticket his entire life!

Thanks very much in advance for your help

Hi fellas,

I was hoping to grab some expert advice on why TWO of the PC's that I've built are having constant BSOD's. Okay so a little background first...

Computer 1 was built this year, 2011, in January. Now this PC has been running smoothly until I decided to reformat it and clear out on the clunk and junk on it. This was back in early September-ish I'd say. So after this, The BSOD's started popping up! Now I have not upgraded any hardware since building in back in Jan 11'.

Here are the important specs for Computer 1.
MOBO: Gigabyte UD3
RAM: 4GB -can't remember the brand
CPU: i5-2500k 3.3Ghz
GPU: Gigabyte HD6950
HDD: WD Black 500Gb
PSU: Antec TruePower 750W
OS: Windows 7 Pro x64

Now onto Computer 2!
So a relative of mine decided to uprade his family PC which was closing in on its 10th birthday. Heard that I'd built a PC and decided to put that family bond that we share to good use . So he decided he wanted the exact same build as Computer 1 but with slight changes. Here are the specs below. **Indicates changes to the first build.

MOBO: Gigabyte UD4**
RAM: 8GB -can't remember the brand**
CPU: i5-2500k 3.3Ghz
GPU: Gigabyte HD6950
HDD: WD Black 2TB**
PSU: Antec TruePower 750W
OS: Windows 7 Pro x64

Now no more than 1 week after I'd delivered his brand new spankin' PC to him, he came back to me reporting that his PC had been getting BSOD's. Now to be honest, I did sort of see it coming as Computer 1 had already been facing these issues. Upon delivery of Computer 2, I... Read more

Answer:2 PC's - Exact/Similar Builds - BSOD's! Related?

No one out there can help me?

These BSOD's seem to be originating from ntoskrnl.exe and hal.dll files.

I am currently thinking I should just reformat Computer 1 again. But As Computer 2 already was a fresh install, albeit a different system, that this would not solve the issue.

Suggestions, advice anyone, please?

Hey everyone I'm having some problems with my Windows 7 Ultimate. I seem to get a random BSOD every now and then. Sometimes its to do with "page fault in nonpaged area" and sometimes something to do with "TCPIP.SYS". The PC I am running is pretty old compared to today's standard so I'm guessing it maybe hadware related but I'm hoping its not.

Please find a set of the mini dump files in a .rar file attached to this post.

Also one other thing is quite often when shutting down windows it just seems to hang at the blue background screen saying "shutting down" in white text. I have to wait till the HDD has stop being accessed and hard shut it down, any ideas?

I hope someone can help me out please

Answer:Various Random BSOD - Can't Pinpoint the exact error!

It looks like your network card driver is causing the issue. Try updating the drivers for it.

You should also remove McAfee completely. Uninstall it using an Extended scan with Revo Uninstaller. Then use the McAfee removal tool to clean out the rest.

After that, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

Withing the last 2 days my PC has blue screened 2 times, no big deal I have come to live with errors with PCs as is, but my problem now is I can't figure out why it's doing this, I pasted my error code into google and it all leads back to video card, surprise surprise! So I am 6 versions late on my Nvidia driver, don't blame me I have been busy, I just updated them but I would like a further view of my minidumps, thanks.

Specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 635 - 4th core unlocked - Not overclocked
Ram: 4gb DDR3 Corsair.
PSU: 600W
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 9600GSO - I know it's bad my new one is on RMA it's a Nvidia Zotac 560 Ti
OS: Windows 7 64 Bit, Ultimate.

Minidumps here.

Answer:BSOD Randomly happening all of a sudden, no exact reason.

What I'm seeing is blaming the crashes on a logitech camera driver in use.

Quickest fix is to update the driver from logitech if possible. Remove it if not.

1. Please note...It is much easier to find patterns, etc, when there is more than one crash.
We prefer you wait until you have at least two so that if one is corrupt the other probably wont be.

2. Avast can be a contributing cause of BSOD'S .
Please remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

I was switching users, and it screened with an IRQ Less Than or somethingorother- I couldn't read it in time. Where is a log, and how do I read it to find the source of the problem?

Answer:First BSOD, how do I determine what it was?

First and foremost, one of the first steps everyone should do on their PCs is to disable the Automatic reboot feature in the System Properties.

However, that will only help with any future errors, so for now, you can check your event logs.

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me here please - im trying to determine the cause of a BSOD that seems to happen in the middle of the night - its been going on for a while - and i cant seem to trace the cause. I initially did think that it might be the graphics card - but on installig BlueScreenView - its pointing to ntoskrnl.exe.
I have uploaded the minidump file if anyone would be good enough to have a look at this for me please.

Answer:BSOD Message. Need help to determine why. Thanks.

Ok, when a blue screen of death or kernel panic accures it means that there might be a hardware problem. Simetimes it's because of a recent hardware change. Most BSOD are happening because of CPU overheating( you might take a look over the temperatures in hw monitor ). What I suggest to do is check event viwer and look for the error message you encounter and try google it

Answer:BSOD- How do I determine hardware issue?

try and run a sfc /scannow in the run box... see if the windows files are intact..

also from what I read you might want to update your bios if you have not already.

also look for a cpu update if theres one out there!

Hi there,

Within the last few days I've experienced a few blue screens seemingly out of nowhere while gaming/multitasking. Most of my PC components are fairly new from a recent upgrade back in November of last year. I hadn't had any issues at all until now. I've run a 2 hour stress test via Realbench as well as memtest86+ overnight (5 passes). Both of which were error-free. I could run a prime95 test as well if it would help, though I figure Realbench accomplishes the same thing.

Not sure if it's useful info or not, but I'm currently using an Asus z170-A motherboard, i7 6700k CPU, G skill 2400mhz, 16GB RAM and an 850w evga power supply.

I have attached the BSOD inspector report. (pardon me if I'm forgetting anything). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Answer:Sudden BSOD, unsure how to determine the cause.

Only 1 memory dump in the uploaded reports. If using a disk cleaner (such as CCleaner) please stop while we're troubleshooting this problem. Only 155 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems with SP1 have 350-400 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all). The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.Lot's of PSO2 Tweaker.exe errors in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report. This likely belongs to PhantasyStarOnline.  Please uninstall it while we're troubleshooting. Beyond this I have these 5 suggestions:1.  Get ALL available Windows Updates.  It may take several trips to get them all2.  Get ALL available, compatible updates for your OS from the manufacturer's website (to include BIOS/UEFI).3.  Get ALL available, compatible updates for the programs and any additional hardware installed on your computer from the developer's website4.  Start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html5.  If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.htmlAnalysis:The following is for information purposes only. Hi, I'm having problems with random but frequent BSOD. It occurs randomly, sometimes when idle, sometimes when playing SC2/WC3 and sometimes during startup. I think the problem lies with the motherboard's RAM sockets and the RAM sticks themselves, but I would like a professional opinion before ordering new parts.

Answer:Frequent BSOD, need to determine faulty parts

If you suspect that memory is your issue, please follow this Tutorial. Post back the results.

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit on my HP Pavilion dv6233se notebook pc as a response to frequent system crashing and being unable to restart. I've updated all the drivers as far as I can determine, but I still get occasional BSOD. The blue screen is too blurry for me to read so I have no information to go on as far as codes or causes.

While attempting to do an upgrade from Vista Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit I get the following message; "Setup was unable to determine if BitLocker Drive Encryption is in use." The only option then is to cancel the upgrade. I've tried installing 3 times now with the same results.

To my knowledge BitLocker isn't even installed on my pc. I have never even heard of it until this evening Should I try for a clean install? I have also had my CD/DVD drive vanish from My Computer after rebooting.

Thanks for any help.

Answer:"Setup was unable to determine...BitLocker"

Well, I know the Vista Home Premium version does not contain Bit Locker, are you encrypting the drives any other way?

Just asking, but are you compressing the drive?

Is there a way to cut out a specific part of a picture and add that part to another? Like this picture of the Moon. I would like to add a Dragon flying across it. Everything I have, I have to touch up and touch up and still looks bad.

Take a look at GIMP, Adobe Elements 5, 6, or 7, or Picassa 3.0. Adobe costs, but is worth the time you have to invest to learn it. GIMP and Picassa are free.

hello, i recently updated my norton anti-virus only to find that i have a one C:\EXACT.EXE trojan occupying my computer. Norton refuses to help as it complains about access being denied, and my computer won't let me delete it either, with the same problem i was pleasantly made aware of by norton. i noticed you helped someone else with a similiar problem and i have taken the same measures, i have turned my system restore off and i have downloaded killbox and TDS-3.
I am running WIndows XP and need some guidence as to what to do with these programs and that nasty little meany of a program which is preventing me from running my computer like the happy little intenret surfer that i am.
My email is edited out
thank you in advance

Answer:C:\EXACT.EXE Trojan help

Welcome to TSF.

Not a good idea to post your email here since there are a lot of spammers here. I edited it out for you.

I never liked Norton. If you want, use Grisoft AVG instead. It's free and does a much better job than Norton. So if you use AVG uninstall Norton.

Let's use a program to scan for any trojans that may exist. Download TDS-3. Learn how to use it here. Make sure to update it after you installed it. You can get the manual updates here. When you launch the program, it will scan your memory for running processes. This will take less than 30 seconds. Next go to System Testing on the menu and choose Full System Scan. After that's finished, post the log file by selecting everything on the top pane (select from bottom to top). If any alarms are found, it will be listed in the bottom window. Please copy and paste that here also if it applies.

There's some discussion at the bottom about this problem and some if it seems to indicate that there's nothing I can do. Does anyone here know anything about this? Am I going to need a new router or is there some option I can change in the router's settings, is there anything I can do at all?

If you want any help in regards to your router, it would be nice to know what kind you have.

To rule out anything else (ISP issues, etc) I would try hooking up your PC directly to the cable/dsl/t1/t3/OC3/whateverthefuckyou'vegot directly. If it works, you know that your router is the issue. (Just make sure you've got some sort of firewall up because you'll be kinda naked on the internet)

well as the tittle stated I am trying to get the exact same motherboard...now I have been searching the net for a good hour and a half and the only thing I've learned so far (something usefull) is how to get my Old Motherboards AA number...is this number enough for me to show up on a computer store and be sure that they have given me the EXACT same motherboard? are there easier and much more efficient way to be sure that I am buying the exact same motherboard? pls put it on plain english for me..thanks for any future help!

P.S.
Obviously I am trying to install a new motherboard but too scared to try a different motherboard, and plus my computer is only a year old so I don't think that my computer is "345 B.C." kind-of outdated...any tips or links or help on installing a new motherboard would be really REALLY appreciated...or is it really a plug-and-replug simple kind of difficulty which is what the technician told me?

Answer:Trying to get the EXACT SAME MOTHERBOARD

it should be as simple as strip down / replace easy as long as there are no major hardware changes (eg a new sata controller for your sata drive).

use CPU-Z (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download425.html) to find the manufacturer of your motherboard and the model number. but be warned: if you bought a computer from, say, dell or hp or any of those types of companies, your only bet would be to go straight to them for the board, or go through their channels because they order customized boards from the mobo manufacturers that can't be found in stores.

good luck!

I have 7 identical PCs (all with a separate key for Windows 7 Pro x64). What I want to do is setup one PC with all the necessary software and updates (domain connection and users, if possible) then find a way to copy that configuration to the other 6 PCs.

After some researching, I've seen Clonezilla (which would just copy the partition including the activation and product key, just causing more problems) and the official Windows Automated Installation Kit, but every walkthrough with the WAIK I've seen looked like it needed a volume license, which I don't have.

I've seen tutorials on youtube on creating a .wim file from a preconfigured PC (which, to my understanding, is a windows 7 disc image slipstreamed with all the software and updates) with Sysprep & ImageX, but none of them said how to burn the .wim to a disc or inject it into a Windows 7 .iso to install it on another PC. Even if I get that far, will that image I'm using allow me to input a different product key?

Any tips, suggestions, step-by-step instructions are greatly appreciated.

NOTE: To anyone wondering, this is a project for work (not home...yet), but I figure knowing how to do this could help for future projects.

Hi all, My Norton Internet Security keeps picking up a Trojan on my computer called EXACT.exe, however it can't remove it saying access is denied. I have also run Ad Aware SE, Spybot, Spyware Blaster, CW Shredder and I have run the online virus detection offered from Trend Micro and none of them have found it. I can see the file on my C drive but when I try to delete it I get access denied. Anyone know how to get rid of this bad boy? Do you want to see a hijack log?

Thanks in advance,

Wombat

Answer:Exact.exe trojan help

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

I am (finally) going to be getting a laptop or notebook (or something?) that I can be mobile with, and not stuck to this desktop all the time, and so I am going to need what I would "think" is a "NIC" (Network Interface Card), but I am not sure that this is what it's called.

I already have a home network (Router & Dongle) setup, for one of the desktops here to be wirelessly connected, so now I am just going to add a laptop or notebook.

Is this part I need also called a "NIC", please? As I may be purchasing the computer at a WalMart, I don't expect to have ANY help with what I need, and I am in the mountains here, a full hour away from any type of tech-stores that could help me with computer supplies.

Thanks in advance,
glenn

Answer:Need to know exact name of a part

Most netbooks/laptops/notebooks come with both wired (NIC) and wireless chip installed.

If you are going to Walmart, look at the website and post the model of what you are considering.

my HDD is broken, I have bought a new one, by I don't have any recovery media. So I am downloading the OS from Microsoft's site.I have learned that if I reinstall the original factory-installed OS the UEFI will provide theactivation key (or an equivalent device). Microsoft's download site now asks me to specify if I want the version K or N or KN of Windows 8.1, and thenalso the Language. (You need to connect to that site with a linux OS to see the same page as I see) Is this essential to ensure the activation process works? In this case how do I know what exact version was the OS? Thanks

Answer:Broken HDD. What was is the exact OS?

Hi @giusart Welcome back to the HP Support forum. This option does not work officially. Microsoft's web site offers downloads from FPP licence (this is full licence) .  PCs that are built from OEMs like HP offer another type of licence for Windows - OEM Windows licence. Officially what you describe should not work. In order to ensure the activation process works fine:- you need to have new HDD with size same like the original one or bigger in size (not smaller)- no other major changes in hardware config- use original HP Recovery media (DVDs or USB thumbdrive) - they will reinstall Windows, drivers, initial apps and will active Windows with the original licence You should contact HP support to see if they can offer you original recovery media for this computer (a.k.a. recovery DVDs or USB) or local HP partner Info EU/EMEA >> http://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/bph07143  Here is how you can contact them :>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp>> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html  Option 2) If there is no recovery media at HP, you can try to contacthttp://www.best2serve.com/page/rcd_landing   to see if they can offer you such recovery media  Once you get the recovery media, here are instructions how to perform the recovery:>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6bGr3EgEI0 * Ensure Secure Boot is disabled.* Ensure Legacy mode is enabled* Save th... Question: Exact layout

I need to E-mail a document created in Word as an attachment using Outlook Express. My problem is when the recipient opens this document, it does not appear as it was created. The columns of names are out of align, and other things are shifted and out of position. Is there a way to save the document that "freezes" the layout so the recipient can view it exactly the way it was created? Hopefully there will be an easy way to solve this problem. Thanks in advance!! Julee99

Answer:Exact layout

Did you actually look at the finished document before you sent the file? I'm guessing the document recieved was the same as the one you sent and not a problem on the recievers end.

Word is great, powerful, and complicated as hell for a simple user like me. I use notepad. Anyway, that's mt thought.

Hello guys,

First of all i would like to apologise because probably is another thread like mine but this forum is so huge and after 1 hour of surfing i could not find what i was looking for and so i decided to post my problem here.
Please any moderator that feels this is not the place for my thread just moove it to the right section but dont delete it because i badly need an answer.

So, lets begin

I am located in UK and i use internet from Tiscali ( now Talk-Talk because they bought tiscali a few months ago).
I am using tiscali internet trough a BT( British Telecom) phone line so i pay the internet to tiscali and the line rental to BT so i have to use a Gigaset SE587 WLAN dsl router.
So far so good
The internet is working just fine
In my house we are 5 computers
Like in any other home some of us we play online and some we download things using different programs
The nasty part comes when thoes wich play online use the internet in the same time with thoes who download things.
Basicaly the two categories of internet users are incompatible.

I need one router wich can do Bandwidth/Speed Limitation Function - i need exactly this - to limit phisicaly the number of Kb/sec / IP

Like the Draytek Vigor 3300V - http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor3300v.html

Please give me as many examples of routers that can do this function so i can look for them on ebay.
As many models wich can do that function u give me is increasing the chances i buy one faster

Thank you ever so much,

Hi guys! i've been working on this project for about a week now and am almost complete!

I will attach the file so you can use it as an example.

here's the scenario:

i have multiple sheets (8 sheets)

on the first sheet is a questionaire that a sales rep would go into and answer the questions listed. once they answer the questions the "POtemp_NY" sheet will populate in their appropriate headers. "Vendor Name," "Location," etc.

on the "POtemp_NY" sheet under the "Code" column...when a code from one of the vendor lists (see sheets "ampaper", "edmar", "sterling" etc) is entered, it finds the closest match and populates the "Description" column with the appropriate information. the only problem is, with the Lookup function, it just finds the closest match. I would like the description to say "Re-enter code" or something to flag that the code entered was incorrect. Another option would be to only allow exact matches and if the exact match wasnt met, an error box would show up letting them know to re-enter the data.

I hope this can be helped! my VBA skills are pretty shabby. lol. Thanks everyone who checks out this post and offers some solutions!

Ok I have a sort fo confusing question, so please don't skim read  Hi I need to replace the motherboard in an hp dv6-3037tx laptop.I found a sticker inside my laptop saying the part number of the motherboard is 615279-001.Getting a replacement for 615279-001 will cost me $700But getting replacement 603642-001 will only cost me $285 (clearance sale) but I think they are the same board. I checked service and maintenance manuals for dv6-3000 series and I found two versions of the manual that have different replacement part numbers. Here July 2010 http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02657339.pdf go to page 22/23Here April 2010 http://www.manualowl.com/m/Hewlett-Packard/Pavilion-dv6-3000/Manual/103388 go to page 19/20  Compare these two pdfs and you see that both are for the same laptop. And both boards mentioned above have different part numbers but the same descriptions. So I was thinking maybe I could buy the cheaper motherboard even if it is a different part number. Is it possible that hp makes two boards the same with different part numbers? Also, what does it matter if the board is different anyway? pretty much everything is contained in the board.... So I thought that as long as it has my previous GPU (ATi 5650) and correct RAM, WiFi and CPU sockets, any board (of the correct shape) would do. I would very much like to save myself over $400 if I can. Is it risky buying the 603642-001 board? Thanks, and sorry for... Read more

Answer:Do I need exact motherboard replacement?

Hi: You sure have done your research on this thoroughly. Enter the part numbers at the link below. http://h20141.www2.hp.com/Hpparts/Default.aspx?mscssid=CB84DF1CB35E48BBB9F0EDF09B9B7D0A You will see there is a description difference. 603642-001   In stock    SPS-PCA SYSTEM BD DIS 5650/1G DUO NON-TS 615279-001   In stock  SPS-PCA SYSTEM BOARD DIS 5650/1G DUO You will find there is very little difference in the prices on the HP site. If you can figure out what the NON-TS means, then you will know which one to purchase. Could it mean Non Touch Screen? Paul

i want to make a image of my hd,when i fire up paragone software it mentions target, does that mean where the image will be sent or where the image is taken from.

Answer:paragon exact image 7 se

I am not completely sure as I don't use it myself but judging by this click here I think the target partion refers to the partion where the image is sent. I think the partion where the image is taken from would be refered to as the source.Does the s/ware not have any help files? At least this will bump you up the listing!

Windows 7 File associations Issue.

I have a file-type that is associated to some executable somewhere on the hard drive.
When I dbl-click, it runs that program.

PROBLEM:
Windows7 only provides a string description in the type field that has nothing to do with where the program is located, and what its actual file-name is.

QUESTION:

How can I find the exact file location and file name that is being executed when I dbl-click an icon ?

Thanks.

Answer:Get the exact program name and path

You can either hover over the icon for the path, or you can right click on it and choose "Properties". On the "Shortcut" tab you'll see "Target" with a text box beside it. The text box contains your path and file name.

Hello...I've ran a scan using the HijackThis, but I'm not quite sure what I'm over-looking. Here are the problems I've been having with this computer for quite some time.1. System Config Utility loads at boot up, and no matter what I've tried so far, it keeps loading.2. I can hear the sound (bubble-popping sound) of a message coming from my taskbar, probably the Windows Update message, but I never see anything.3. When Installing new programs, they never highlight on the All Programs section, before I click to view the new program. They are highlighted when I click on to view my programs.4. During shutdown, it's takes upto 1-2 minutes to power off or to reboot.5. I have uninstalled programs, that show up in Autoruns, but no matter how I've tried to delete their references, they just keep showing up again. I have ran these tools:HijackThisBHOListsSpybot Search&DestroyAd-AwareAutorunsProcess ExplorerF-SecureRootKit Hook AnalyzerCWShredderSecurity Task Manager....and I have other tools that i haven't used yet.Besides the above issues, the computer runs fine, no resources are being hogged, every single program runs as they should, and it's been quite a few months since I've used IE on this computer, and the computer doesn't do strange things or the like.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I've taken the liberty to start training myself with the HijackThis program and the info provided. Answer:Not Quite Sure The Exact Culprit(s) Causing This

Hello..

You can disregard this post. Since I've ran every imaginable test, and also deleting programs (since I can reinstall them), nothing seemed to help out, so I just backed up my whole hd, deleted the data, repartitioned it, and reformatted it. Now I'll have a clean slate on it this time, because I have the tools to monitor everything I install this time, which I didn't have for the 1st half of installed programs before.

Thanks a lot for all of your help.

Hi, There's nothing special for BIOS update. Just download the BIOS, make sure your notebook is plugged in (and also that it has above 60% battery in any case), and run the file which you downloaded. BIOSAcerBIOS2.123.2 MB2014/07/24Download

Hey all,

Well... I've now moved on to EAC as my ripper of choice and now am wondering if anyone knows how to activate the other LAME presets. EAC is currently set up with the Additional command line options as: %l--alt-preset 128%l%h--alt-preset standard%h %s %d

I'd like to try the --preset medium setting.

The current preset sounds great but was thinking of a little smaller file size for the portable MP3 player.

Thanks,

Jackson

Answer:Help with Exact Audio Copy (EAC)

2004.!? hehe

for best results here's what i do.. eac for extraction, make sure the settings for your drive are set for secure mode.

then tick the "action" tab then "detect gaps".

then the "action" tab again and "create cue sheet" then "multiple wav files with gaps... (noncompliant)".

then the "action" tab again and "test & copy selected tracks" and "uncompresed" this will give you uncompressed wav files

then get razorlame for encoding and use this command line "-V0 --vbr-new -m j -p -b 32 --replaygain-accurate" and use lame 3.98 it's the only version i've tested that i could actually hear a difference in sound quality. i can't remember if that version comes with eac but if not..

in compression settings tick the box "use external program for compression" and in the "use file extention" box put ".mp3"

then you'll need to set "external compression" tab to "use defined encoder"

then browse for where you have the lame encoder and chose that.

razorlame is optional it's just my prefrence so if you want to use eac for encoding use any of these command lines..

a) For V0 rips:
-V 0 --vbr-new --add-id3v2 --ignore-tag-errors --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tg "%m" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" %s %d

b) For V2 rips:
-V 2 --vbr-new --a... Read more

Me and my girlfriend play WoW. When she is playing, her game has like a slower load speed than mine, Kind of annoying when i play on her computer because i noticed mine doesn't do that. Its like the game loads every second for every step, and when i play on my comp. I don't notice this lag, mine just loads all smoothly, what could be the problem? My windows is starting to act really funny so I was going to redo it and start from scratch using the ghost partishion that came on my Gateway. It is a 320 GB HD and I bought a 750 GB so I was going to try to somehow just bring over the ghost fine as an image and try to run it. I messed that up some how. So I then tried to use Macrium Reflect to make an exact copy of my ghost and C: (The entire hard drive) and I put it on the 750 and it was complete. Then I swapped the 750 in and I imagined it was supposed to be exactly like my 320 but it wouldn't even boot windows. I don't know what I did wrong or what I don't understand. If I get windows to run on the 750 I can then just run the ghost on it and refresh from there.

I wish Gateway would have their restore disks able to be downloaded and then burned. I don't want to have to pay $25 and then have them mail it to me. I would just install regular windows, but I like that ghost image there just incase, or else I would have just done that already.

Is there an easier to use program than Macrium Reflect I could possibly use then? I like that it is free but apparently I don't know what I am doing lol

Question: Exact Audio Copy

EAC allows gapless recording of multiple tracks - vital to maintain music flow on certain CDs
I couldn't find a W7 64 Bit compatible version of EAC when I last looked online - the version I have works fine on 32 Bit Vista.
Does anyone know if there's a W7 64 bit version anywhere - or equivalent gapless recording software?

Answer:Exact Audio Copy

Hi Keith. From my experience all CD audio ripping and burning programs (including Windows Media player) have an option to remove gaps or silences inserted between tracks. I found this to be a good alternative to EAC

Ive tried Eugene Computer Chat help and also a tech support dude i know off another forum but i cant seem to fix my issue

Basically my Desktop used to BSOD a fair amount about 2 months ago and for some reason it stopped after i applied new thermal paste and hoovered the insides of the case :)

Anyhow - as of late , my pc has started having "random lag" what i mean by that is that my computer will be running fine at normal speed on everything im doing then all of a sudden, everything will take an age to do like open folders , open my web browser etc and even youtube videos will slowplaying - just everything goes into meltdown lol and i have to restart to make it usable again

Ive tried previous suggestions from other people such as using Memtest+ on my ram sticks and also tried wiping my HDD and reformatting it and installing Windows 7 again , bear in mind ive had this pc for almost 4 years and it never done all this lag business before just a random bsod now and then which didnt really cause any issues

Someone also suggested checking event viewer, which i have, and nothing there, also i was suggested to install one program at a time until i have problems but i cant see how it can be a program issue since ive used a multitude of programs before and it never used to do this and was also suggested to do my Windows updates which i did but to no avail

It used to "random lag" quite often but does it a fair bit less now but the problem is still there... Read more

I have often found the Windows search frustrating because it basically seems to ignore anything that isn't alphanumeric. So for example, I can't search things like "08 r" or "m((" or "#PD". This is annoying as I use all kinds of characters to tag my files and it would be great if I could use Windows to search these tags.

Does anyone know a way to search for an exact string?

Or does anyone know of any good way of tagging files so that Windows can search the tags? (I mostly tag text files, audio files, video files, and image files.)

Answer:How to search for an exact string?

I used to use FileSeek free version, now I'm using FileSeekPro [pay-for version]. It really does the job very well!
And, it does not need to build and maintain an index of the hard-drive.

Hi, I have an R61 on the way and I'd like to see exactly what its specs are prior to its arrival because I'm planning on downgrading to XP; I think there's a way to do this on the Lenovo website, right?  I can get to the 'overview' page, but that gives all the possible specifications for each component.  I want to find the exact specifications for my system.  I have all the relevant serial numbers and such.  Can someone tell me if I can do this, and if so how?  Thanks.

spazurek, welcome to the forum, I don't actually like answering questions in this manner, but all the information you require can be found in the FAQs. How to find out which components  your TP has and also about downgrading to XP These are pretty general instructions; if something appears unclear regarding your system please post your type and model number, (or add it to your signature), with your questions and members will surely be able to help.

I have a high-end hi-fi system which benefits greatly from better-quality recordings (ie uncompressed original recordings and high production values). I want to make some CD compilations (for my own use) of various tracks that bring the best out in the hi-fi, but I only want to do so if I am making and playing exact copies of the originals. When ripping a CD track onto the hard drive of a PC (using XP Home), is it copied exactly (i.e. a completely mirror image of exactly the same 1s and 0s)? (I am of course not including mp3 or other compressed file formats in my question). Does the answer depend on the software used or is it implicit from the fact that the CD is just 1s and 0s that any copy is exact? Also (not really a PC question, but...) is the quality of the original recording entirely dependent simply on the arrangement of the 1s and 0s, or is there something else on/in the recording process that affects the quality of replay? Assuming exact copies, when those ripped tracks are then burned to a CD-R, is that CD-R also an exact copy of the original?Thank you!Maughan

Answer:Can you make an exact copy of a hi-fi CD?

You don't need to "rip" audio CD tracks to make a compilation as it can easily be done by using Nero in the tracks' original form. You will have to keep copying whichever tracks you want in the compilation from each CD (inserting and removing each CD) until the disk is almost full; the bar at the bottom of the compilation menu advises the space remaining.Remember that a CD plays from the inside out so if you want a particular tracks order you will have to work "back to front" when compiling the list i.e. last track first and so on.An explanation of the method is readily available either in the Nero Help files or from the click here website.

As I said in the topic, I do not know the exact problem but I have had that in my Add/Remove Programs before and I have removed it. I have tried many scans and on Spybot Search & Destroy 3 problems always come up called "DSOExploit". I have tried to delete these(even with System Restore points off.)but it always comes up again. And I have restarted the computer when needed and done other scans too...but the computer is exremely slow(which is never was before.)and I always get a notice saying "Runtime Error" and lots of strange things. I know the CPU Usage is high but no matter how much I delete it doesn't seem to affect the computer much...I have had ISTbar and ISTsvc before and Viewpoint Manager
and Viewpoint Media Player also but I removed them from my computer. I still can't figure out the problem...the main things I am concerned on my computer is its slowness and that Runtime Error notice I get all the time which suddenly started one day. Ok I want to run somekind of test on my computer system to see what my exact DSL speeds are. Why? As for the exact size, well part of the space is used by the filesystem (Fat32) and I think there's some other memory amount used as well. Anyway, you never get exactly the stated amount on any drive (in your case 1024 Meg)

Hi,
I recently bought a package of HP Return Address Labels. Inside the package there is a sheet of instructions and a practice sheet.

The instructions say to make a copy of the practice sheet and then print the labels on the practice sheet before they are printed on the actual labels.

I have been trying to make an exact copy of the practice sheet with my scanner and printer but it either gets too big or too small.

I have been scanning at 300 dpi in line art mode. What am I doing wrong? Ho do you make an exact copy of a document?

Hey guys,

So, I know this was almost a year ago to the day, but I am stuck with the EXACT same problem a Moongoose333 posted (0x0000009c (0x00000004, and so on)). And by exact I mean from the same video card he/she had (ATI 1650) to the little pink square that occurs on the BSOD. I have torn my computer apart and done everything Moongoose did (as if the words came out of my mouth...), unfortunately the threads stopped or, as it was a year ago, were deleted before I was able to find out the solution I was wondering if the problem was resolved and would greatly appreciate (as I am sure you know) any direction you can give me.

Thanks,

Answer:Exact same problem another member had

Error code 0x9C: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION
This is a hardware issue: an unrecoverable hardware error has occurred. The parameters have different meanings depending on what type of CPU you have but, while diagnostic, rarely lead to a clear solution. Most commonly it results from overheating, from failed hardware (RAM, CPU, hardware bus, power supply, etc.), or from pushing hardware beyond its capabilities (e.g., overclocking a CPU).

Honestly, this is a very difficult error to work with because as it says a clear diagnosis rarely comes forth and I have never seen a minidump with either error codes give a definitive answer. I know IT techs that don't like working with it. What makes it so difficult is that it can be any hardware in your system -- and I mean any.

Here are some of the causes that were determined to be the source of 0x9C errors from posters here and abroad: NIC, DVD/CD drives, dust build up around the CPU that caused overheating of said CPU, bulging capacitors hidden by heatsink, video card, harddrive, psu, motherboard, and external harddrive connected by USB.

Spaz, the best advice I can give you is to do what many do in this case: Strip your computer down to the bare essential of PSU, CPU, and one stick of RAM. Boot up and if stays booted up, shut down and add one and only one piece of hardware. Boot-up again and if that remains stable continue as before.

Tedious? Yes, at times very tedious but since this is an unknown hardware issue looking a... Read more

What am I doing wrong. All I am trying to do is make an exact copy of my main c: and stick it on another partition where It can be bootable. Thanks

Hi to all seven forum.
please guide me on this issue. I have a dell inspiron 14 n4050. and it had 2gb ddr3 ram. and I want to upgrade the ram to 4gb. but here is a little confusion. some system information softwares shows that the ram installed on this pc is 667mhz bus. and I want to upgrade the 4gb ram of 1333mhz. I attached those softwares snapshot, check them and guide me that is it really 667mhz or what.? if this is 667mhz then another 1333mhz 2gb ram would not compatible with it and I must purchased the exact same bus ram, either 4gb single or pair of 2gb with exact model and bus.
also tell me the ram model that which model is installed on this laptop.

Answer:How do I know the exact RAM module for upgrade.

If unsure you can unscrew side panel of machine and there should be a sticker on ram module(s) stating make model speed etc you shouldnt need to remove the ram to see sticker

Hi,
Seen this question posted several times, but no good answer yet.

I'm trying to locate a file on my disk named "gm". Is that seemingly simple task possible on Windows 7? When I search for 'name:gm' or 'name:"gm"' I get hundreds of files, all of them contain 'gm' in their name and to find my file I need to go over the list one by one.

Please help!!
Thanks,
Gil.

Answer:How to find a file with the exact name?

Have you tried using filename:"gm.*"?

I ran a quick test on my system, and searched my pictures library using filename:"obelix", and got the following results:

_asterix_obelix_idefix_1_.jpg
Obelix.jpg

When I changed the search to filename:"obelix.*", thenI only got "Obelix.jpg"

The key therefore is to enclude the filename you are searching for in quotes, and include a period and star wildcard at the end of the filename.
