BSOD appears every time, computer lags, unable to copy files.

Question: BSOD appears every time, computer lags, unable to copy files.

this error occurs a few weeks ago, i don't know what went wrong. it started when it's automatically restarts my computer a few times, and then the computer lags and freezes and BSOD appear. the BSOD said something like KERNEL_INPAGE ERROR. my computer is now unusable (it keeps freeze and lags alot and i have to hard close it by pressing the power button) and i know nothing about fixing it, so, i beg to all of the professionals here to help me out!

additional information: after i gave up on fixing the computer, i re-try to retrieve some of my important data from it, but it keeps on lagging and freezing (i tried to work fast to avoid the BSOD from shutting down my computer). after i tried to copy the data i wanted to my external hard disk, it says 'unable to read the file or the hard disk'. i am so upset, and i really need my old data again. please help me out.

please tell me every step i have to do since i am not so good with computer repairing

Preferred Solution: BSOD appears every time, computer lags, unable to copy files.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm moving a large number of files (600MB+ for each file) as I type this can even the text is a very seconds behind! Anyone know of a fix for this? Specs are in my signature and this machine is XP 64-bit.

Answer:Copy/Moving Files Lags System

I may be completely wrong, but you may want to try a quad core if you are going to be doing this often.

I have a 2TB USB drive ... I can copy files but at some point it appears that files are copied but only the folder exists once I remove the drive from the computer and go to read it later. I had this same issue with 512G micro SD cards although those gave a generic Windows error message.
Does anyone know what I need to do to be able to write to the entire drive?

Hello! I need help with my computer.

I have this 6-year-old desktop computer, and it is acting weird recently. Here is the story:

My computer runs very flawlessly for 6 years already, regularly updating my anti-virus software, doing maintenance once a month, and I am very careful when it comes to malware. Hence I should say that my PC is well-maintained.

One day, my printer (HP PSC 1410) died and decided to buy a new one (Canon MP258). I uninstalled the old printer driver and restarted. But after shutdown, my boot time seems doubled.

I continued by installing the new printer driver. But this time, installing takes quite long and I noticed that the mouse lags (or moves 'choppy') when I try to whip the mouse.

I also get a few stutters before fully stopping when pausing MP3 files. I also experience drastic FPS drops in my music games (40-50fps for a few seconds and goes back to the normal 200+fps, and drops again at random times in the song). Also, I hear a very short stutter every second with my music production program FL Studio 9, even at maximum buffer size (2048 samples @ 49ms latency via ASIO).

I get drastic performance drops. And I can really see it with the mouse lag.

I checked TaskManager and CPU is at 0-5% when idle. I also do not notice CPU spikes. I tried a full defrag (which lasted about 22 hours) and a full chkdsk (with through scanning). But I still get the same problem.

I will upload a sample audio recording of my computer speakers' output... Read more

Answer:Boot time doubles and it seems Windows lags (mouse pointer lags, audio stutters)

Go to Start/Run and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. Make sure there is no HP software remaining. Do a Search include Hidden Files for all HP software and delete all files it finds. Download CCleaner analyze the drive and remove all the temp files it finds. Run the Registry scan too. Download Malwarebytes run a full scan and delete all items it finds. Do another Check Disk, go to Start/Run and type chkdsk C: /R and press enter. Now type a Y and reboot the system. Go to Start/Run and type dfrg.msc and press enter. Do another Defrag,

I made a thread a bit ago thinking my HD failed since I got that message (topic here: "Harddrive Master Failure" followed by slow PC...)

Anyway I started playing a few other games and the sound was messed up, so I turned it off. Suddenly, the FPS lag and frame skips I had went away, so it's pretty much surely a sound card/motherboard problem.

My sound card is an integrated one, Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA.

So if I upgrade the sound card drivers, do you think that would fix it? Or with my AGP mobo is it worth it to buy a decent one?

Now I have read all the BSOD posting instructions.

I have problems with blue screen crashes all the time since a week ago. I have tried to uninstall programs and drives that i think can affect the system, but I think it can be something else.

Answer:BSOD appears all the time!?

Hi,

I've taken a look at your attached dump files. Various different bugchecks, but most are A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. We're not getting a solid driver culprit or anything in the stack trace that I myself can see, but after taking a look at your loaded drivers list:

1. dtsoftbus01.sys is listed, this is the Daemon Tools driver and is a very large causer of BSOD's in W7. I'd recommend uninstalling Daemon Tools and replacing it with another visualization program such as: PowerISO, MagicISO, ImgBurn, etc.

1a. sptd.sys came paired with it which is the SCSI Pass Through Direct Host - Daemon Tools (known issues with Win7). Remove it with this tool:

DuplexSecure - Downloads

2. ASACPI.sys is dated from 2005. The pre-2009 driver is very known to cause BSOD's.. so make sure you update that from Asus' website.

3. ElbyCDFL.sys - Thu Dec 14 16:22:27 2006 (ElbyCDIO Filter Driver). Update if available here. If not, uninstall the software using this driver.

4. hcwPP2.sys - Tue Feb 06 13:30:04 2007 (Huappage WinTV PVR Video Capture). Update if available here. If not, uninstall the software using this driver temporarily for troubleshooting purposes.

Regards,

Patrick

Hi!

It's been a while since I posted a problem regarding my laptop.

The Problem: By 'computer lag', I mean the type where the CPU usage suddenly shoots up to a high percentage, leaving programs in the background lagging (e.g. firefox, games, etc) and unbearable to use. This happens every 2-3 minutes, then the computer returns to its original speed again. Then the process repeats itself. This started happening the past few days.

What I've been doing the past few days: It's been a while since I've updated some programs so...I updated my copy of Avira AntiVir, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Comodo Firewall, DirectX, etc. And I've uninstalled some programs to free up some space for the laptop (e.g. a-squared free). I did some disk cleanup by using the Disk Cleanup utility and CCleaner, and I've used Piriform's defraggler with SysInternals PageDefrag.

Even after doing all those the problem still persisted. After a while I've tried scanning with AntiVir and Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware (I use AntiVir as my main AV with Malwarebyte's as a separate scanner only), but it did not find any infection.

This has happened before too, but I'm not really sure as to what have caused it. Could it be a malware?

(I've read about if this could be hardware-related, but I'm sure it's not after reading over the internet, well I don't really know )

I'd really appreciate help to clear things up.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

You guys have always been of great assistance in the past, especially when I had a major problem.

Now I have two.

When I start up my computer, go into windows, it takes a while to load then I get bsod and it restarts then works perfect, so now if I run it cold, I reset it immediately after switching it on, then it works. WTF?!

Plus now, it has started getting really slow and it lags. What can I do?

Please tell me whatever info you need, and where I can find it for you. I will be completely cooperative and appreciative.

look forward to hearing from you.

My computer was lagging about 5 seconds anytime I clicked on a file such as a .doc or any media file. If I double clicked it lagged for 5 seconds before opening the file and if I right clicked it would not open the menu for 5 seconds as well. When I open the program for the file such as Word it opens instantaneously. I just reformatted and I am still having the same issue. Any suggestions?

After a virus messing up my computer, the only solution to fixing it is to reinstall windows, however i have many files that i would like to copy to a CD so i don't lose them, the problem is that since the virus i can't copy or paste, i can't drag files, so i can't move them, and i can't use windows explorer or nero to burn files to a cd, as none of these work anymore. (reinstalling nero also didn't work)

Could anyone suggest a program or something that i could download so that i can burn my files to cd?

I have no new hardware device plugged into any USB port.  I did recently add a Belkin enhanced wireless router to create a wireless network to allow my daughter's laptop internet access down the hall.  I also recently borrowed a hand held digital recorder from a friend. I had to download a program to allow me to transfer a file from the recorder to my computer.  I then uninstalled the program - it was a one time usage.  My son got an iPod shuffle which I recently put some music on.  So there have been various new things plugged into the computer, however, every time I start the computer up, it I get the Newfound Hardware Wizard pop-up.  Is there a way to get rid of this?

But you mentioned the rzudd.sys driver in your post
This belongs to Razer software, so I'd suggest uninstalling it
Then, try another device and see if that helps (this'll help to rule out both the software and the device as a cause).

If this fixes the problem, then add the Razer device back in (without it's software)
Test to see if that still works w/o BSOD's

Finally, download and install a fresh copy of the latest, W10 compatible Razer software and test that.

I have a very cheap NAS drive (single bay GIGABIT NAS from embeded hyphen systems dot net)that I have used to store video files around 700Mb in size. It's running linux I believe and the drive is formatted to ext3. I have previously been able to copy files to and from without issue (to a vista laptop. At the moment I cannot copy files from the drive to my pc - the process begins but then fails. I can access the admin function for the NAS fine. I've tried both via the router and connecting the drive direct to the pc. I've removed any user passwords etc. Similarly, I can play the file from the NAS - but after a short while the video hangs. Have tried several files. The drive does not have a usb connection. I'm not too worried about the NAS itself - but I do want to recover the video files on the hard disc. If i buy a usb caddy, will that be ok to connect to a windows pc even though the drive is formatted to ext3? Anyone suggest how to solve the NAS access issue? Suggestions to retrieve the files very welcome. Thanks.

Basic info: SBS 2008 (64bit), XP-sp3 (32bit) workstations, gigabit switch, SEP. App is Sage Masterbuilder.

Network config: Server is 1gb to switch over CAT6. All the workstations are 100mb over CAT5. SEP is set to exclude all pertinent files on both the server and workstations.

Problem: The program is called MasterBuilder and does job costing and much more. In the job costing feature there is an option to "Compute" job costing. In version 16.x, when the "Compute" was performed the task was done very quickly. After an upgrade to version 17.x it is very SLOW. According to tech support, our network is at fault since it is a database function over the network.

Troubleshooting done: Tech support blamed our network speed (100mb) and switch. We had a Netgear 100mb switch so we replaced it with a GB switch however the cabling will not support GB. Being a managed switch I set all the ports to 100mb except the server port. Even tried the server plugged into a 100mb port and no change. I am confident there are no speed issues on our network. All other programs perform flawlessly. ACAD, Exchange, data transfers and many other high data use programs work perfectly. I updated the network card drivers in the server as well. There are no performance or resource issues on the workstations. I monitored the network traffic at the workstations, server and switch with no issues and about 2.5% utilization during the slow "Compute" process. The switch shows no error... Read more

Is it just me or has Win 7 stopped the ability to move more than one group of files/folder at a time?

For example, I'm trying to transfer some music album folders to a USB or another folder. I drag and drop the first album in there, but I have to wait to the progress box to finish before I can drag the next one/group in there.

I KNOW this was never a problem with XP, where every group of files/folders your moved/copied would open a new progress box, each doing their own thing. Why would such a basic function have changed?

Answer:Can only copy/move one group of files at a time?

HI MyCsPiTTa and a warm welcome to the Forum.
You can do what you want just as in XP. I have just dragged and copied a huge folder to the desktop and before that had hardly got started I did the same with another large folder and it opened a second progress window. I didn't try a third but I am sure it will work as I use this facility quite frequently to copy folders onto one of my external hard drives to use the contents on another PC.
If you are sure a second progress window is not opening, it does happen very quickly in Win 7 and it does hide the original progress window. Try again but this time when you drag the second folder, move the progress window that you can see to one side. There should be the other one below it. Just click on this one and it becomes the active window.

Hi springer1981 and welcome to MGs.

I use Estimating Extended from Sage at work off an SBS 2003 server for the database. Do you map the server drive/folder for MasterBuilder to access the database?
If so (and this is a left field suggestion), can you delete the current mapping on the workstation, reboot and remap the drive/folder to see if that helps.

Ok this has been going on for months. I initially had a problem with java after installing a SP2 update for IE. And eventually reinstalled XP, that didn't correct the issue and then I had to get a new product code because I was in the "you have 30 days to activate" loop even though my copy of XP was already activated...

So called Microsoft, got new product key and started to install again. This is when I first got the "Unable to copy files" error. I tried 2 different copies of XP but got the same issue, with the same files, with each disk.

I've talked to Microsoft for hours, and finally had a guy tell me it was my motherboard (now this is after having swapped out my memory with the manufacturer). I just received my replacement board (M7NCD by Biostar) and I am still getting the same error.

The gist is that at the dsound3d.dll, I start to get "unable to copy file" errors. I attempt to retry the copy, which works occasionally, but eventually I get an error (normally a memory error)... Microsoft had said that even with those errors, it wasn't my memory but my motherboard that was the issue...

Other info: swapped out CD-Rom drive, changed FSB speeds (per motherboard manufacturer request) and the previously mentioned attempts.

Can anyone help me, because I'm going nuts here

don.

I am using an AMD Athlon 2500. I wasn't overclocking or anything.

I have a sys with ASUS M2MX mobo, AMD X2 4600+ Proc, 2GB RAM, 500 GB SATA HDD running on Win 7 Ultimate. I'm unable to copy files from hard drive to a 4 GB Kingston pen drive. I tried different OS - XP, Vista and Win 7. It gives the same error ..............[An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Make note of the error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem: Error 0x8007045D: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. Try again, skip and cancel]. After the error is displayed the drive disappears from the explorer and need to reconnect. Sometimes it wipes out all the old files that are already there in the pen drive and asks to format the pen drive. The Format doesn't complete saying Windows was unable to complete the format.

1. It copies files less that 2 MB.
2. Can copy the files from pen drive to hard drive.
3. The pen drive works on other machines.
4. Doesn't work in Safe Mode either.
5. Tried several OS and different USB ports.
6. Flashed BIOS and Chipset driver.

I recently downloaded the SP2 upgrade for XP and am no longer able to copy files, most notably image type files (.JPEG) and also MS Word/Excell files (.doc, .xls) to a CD using the native XP copy function. I haven't realy tried to copy other file types. SOME files will copy but many will not. The message received is " Windows encountered an error when trying to copy this folder. What do you want Windows to do? " Looked on Microsoft pages but was unable to find any discussion or fixes there. Any suggestions? Where to start looking for the problem?

Ron

Answer:Unable to copy files to cd after SP2 upgrade on XP

Interesting, the only remotely close documentation is for some types of .doc or rtf files.

I've made the registry edit and for SOME .doc files (not all) I am still left with this error:

Microsoft Word 97 Conversion
unable to load graphics conversion filter. Continue with document conversion?Click to expand...

Hit yes long enough and eventually the text portion of the document will open, but without the graphics.

I don't seem to have a problem copying normal jpegs though.

First I'll give some specs about the system:
Dell Optiplex 755
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33 GHz
2 GB RAM
Running XP SP3

This computer takes an 30-45 seconds to open most files or applications. It also takes a long time when moving, deleting, copying, or even right clicking on an application or file.

Once the application or file is open, the computer runs great. For example, I can manipulate massive amounts of data in Excel with no problems. Yet opening Excel takes forever. You can't even copy and paste a simple notepad document without the hourglass popping up.

I've watched task manager when trying to open a document and it's not maxing out the cpu usage or even coming close. Firefox and folders are about the only things that don't take a long time to load.

I've ran CCleaner and disk defrag and neither seem to work.

Thanks.

*cries* Help me, I can't find a solution to this anywhere.

I'm running Windows 2000, I've got Ad-Aware 6 installed and it shows nothing. I'm also running Mcafee and it shows nothing either.

The Problem: I cannot copy or cut exe files by any means I know. When ever I right click on an exe file it also doesn't work. I can cut/copy any other files (to my knowledge) without a problem. When I do attempt to cut/copy an exe file, the screen blinks. File Explorer disappears, all other programs remain running, the wall paper appears followed by the icons just as when you boot up.

Please help.

Answer:Unable to copy files off of my external drive

Hello DJDJDJDJ!

From what I can read from the SMART results, the drive seems to need more than the usual time to fully spin up; it has a few reallocated sectors, which means that the drive has found read/write/verification errors and has moved the data to the spare area. There seem to be some partial failures in the mechanical positioning system. It could be nothing, but the seek time performance is low which could be a sign of problems in the mechanical subsystem, meaning your drive most likely has a mechanical problem. It also has many spin start attempts.

I believe these issues, resulting in a mechanical failure of the drive, are the culprit for the problem you're having with transferring your files.

My advise would be to take the drive to a professional and see if it could be repaired so that you can copy paste your videos on your own. Otherwise, you may need to turn to a data recovery company.

Good luck!

Hi,
I've newly installed W10 Pro and am constantly being pestered with permission nags (see attached) while attempting to reorganise files within the Local Disk.

I've tried changing the User permissions via "Properties>Security" but encounter nothing but a load of error messages.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I upgraded from Windows 7, bypassing 8 entirely so I've never had to tackle this issue before. I'd like full access without annoying UAC-related notifications every two minutes!
Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,

New to Vista, but not a complete idiot (well, I don't think so...) I have two systems on my home network, and need to move files from my XP box over to Vista (such as my counter strike map packs, company of heroes patches, etc). So I have shared the folders on both boxes and allowed full control under permissions.

The problem I'm having is that when I try to copy compressed files, .rar, .zip, maybe others, from my XP box onto the Vista box (and sitting at the Vista box), I get "Destination Folder Access Denied. You need permission to perform this action."

Of course, I have full control of the destination directory, because I just made it, and I can see that I have full control in the permissions.

Please tell me I'm just being dumb and I have some security setting turned on somewhere. I sure as hell can't find it.

thanks,

Hi there,
my name is Marius and I will be assisting you with your Malware related problems.

Before we move on, please read the following points carefully.
First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding.
Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one.
If you have any problems while you are follow my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem.
Do not run any other scans without instruction or Add/ Remove Software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me.
Post all Logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts.

There is a widely reported problem of some jpg files displaying thumbnails which cannot be opened and reported to be unrecognised or corrupt while other jpg files open normally. I think this problem may also relate to other types of files.

**

I have experienced this widely reported problem of image files (not all) being reported as corrupt or unable to be opened by various programs. Why some and not all? I tried so many methods to recover my images by following numerous suggestions from so many forums. None worked. Copying the so-called corrupt files to another disc and trying to open them on another computer didn't work either.

Then, I had a sneaky thought that it may have something to do with Shadow Copy services. Previously, I had tried to backup my computer, during which the process creates a shadow copy of the files to be backed-up, but the backup failed. I retried the process, but the backup failed again and reported an error while trying to read the shadow copy.

I checked the number of shadow copies on my hard disc of which there were about 6. I decided to clean up the hard disc using System Tools > Disk Cleanup > Clean up system files > More Options > System Restore and Shadow Copies > Clean up > Delete > OK > Delete Files.

Voilą !!!

All images reappeared.

Hello,

Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons.  Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable.

Relevant info per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Registry :
“The Windows registry stores all application settings in one logical repository (but a number of discrete files) and in a standardized form.  The registry contains important configuration information for the operating system, for installed applications as well as individual settings for each user and application. A careless change to the operating system configuration in the registry could cause irreversible damage, so it is usually only installer programs which perform changes to the registry database during installation/configuration and removal.  If a user wants to edit the registry manually, Microsoft recommends that a backup of the registry is performed before the change.  Editing the registry is sometimes necessary when working around Windows-specific issues e.g. problems when logging onto a domain can be resolved by editing the registry.  The Windows registry can be edited manually using programs such as regedit.exe, although these tools do not expose some of registry'... Hi,

I was doing word editing on my win 8 pc from my USB drive. When I click save, the computer says that I cannot save it with the same name. I then proceeded to save it on the desktop with a different name. I then tried to copy it back to the USB drive, it says the drive is write protected.

I did try another word file on another USB drive, it says write protected. How to solve this problem? I did try this method:

However, this method formats the drive which I don't want to happen. Also, while following the instructions in the youtube video, I got stuck when it came to formatting the drive. It says the drive is protected.

I then took the USB drives to my windows 7 laptop and it works, so there must be something wrong with Windows 8 and not the USB drives.

Any ideas?

I have noticed this issue today.  When I was moving some files from my phone to my laptop, it displayed the message "calculating the time required to copy the files," loaded more time than it should have, and then did the transfer. This has never happened before.  It normally just jumps right into the file transfer process without that delay.  Does it have something to do with the amount of files in a folder or something else, because I just dd a transfer of two zipped files and they did not display that message.  Can someone explain why my computer displayed this message?

Windows 7 (64-bit)

Answer:annoying "calculating the time required to copy the files message" on windows 7

Yes - you are correct, it is the quantity of files. As far as I know, it will do this for one little text file as well, but since the time taken for the calculation is so short, the message doesn't have the time to show.

Obviously, since the time taken for calculation depends on the amount of data, there comes some critical level when the time is long enough for the message to show. You get the same thing when moving files between drives inside the computer. Internally, on my own computer, it seems to be about 250Mb.

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (`c0000005) (probably your McAfee).
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have raid update its Driver.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

Maybe this is a hardware issue, but here goes. I had two winxp pro discs (pirated versions) which I tried to install on a friends pc while he waited for xp home (here on Maui, everything takes about 2 weeks to get here). Anyway, both discs had trouble copying files to his new 160 GB hard drive at different times of the installation. I figured they were just scratched, and I threw them away. I told him to wait for his licensed version, which I am now trying to install. It's a brand new version of XP home, straight out of the shrink wrap, but still the same problem. It has so much trouble trying to copy over driver.cab that it just stops. I've tried formatting (both quick and normal) and using either of the cd drives, but still the same deal. Any new suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Mike

I don't know if this is related or not, but I have two problems that quite possibly started at the same time.

Firstly, I cannot drag files or copy them. If I try to drag they just don't move, if I try to copy nothing happens. There is no error message or anything like that.

When I start up my computer I get a message saying something went wrong and the computer will automatically shut down again. I can't remember the exact message and can't reboot just now to check the specifics, but hopefully the info I have given means something to someone as it is.

Can anyone help with either issue? I've tried searching Google but have had no luck fixing either yet.

To my knowledge I haven't installed anything recently, besides some automatic updates (I don't think any for Windows recently), Hamachi and Risk II. I formed a virtual LAN with someone using Hamachi so it's perhaps possible I got a virus from them, but they say they don't have these problems themself.

Hey Guys,
My PC has been running great for about 3years then all of a suddenly i've started getting BSOD. Only thing i can think of was on the day they started, i installed Borderlands Pre sequel to play with my girlfriend. When it happened i realised my watercooling pump had packed up and thought that was the issue (ive replaced the system and its still doing it) So i think my pump may have packed up at any time and i failed to notice.

Its doing it with nothing open but a brower, in games, all over the place but at random times. I ran a mem Test and everything came back fine on my memory. I tried a Prime test and it blue screened. I also did a much long Memtest and the Modules failed 2 tests. But im not sure if all my problems are memory or not.

I also tried to run verifier but when my computer crashed it just distorted the screen and froze. I wouldnt let me boot, so i had to boot to safe mode to turn it off.

Hello,
I have a bsod problem. I played World of Warcraft last night, I log off in the morning, watched a movie and logged back in, computer crushed with blue screen as soon as I logged in.

Since then, my computer crushes all the time. I am unable to play any games because I face blue screen 5 mins max, it also occurs when I am browsing internet or simply doing nothing. My computer used to crush when I use google chrome but it was without bsod and very rare.

When bsod appears, it fades to darkness in 1 second and I am unable to read the error code. Just one time it actually stayed long enough and the error message said I should remove my anti-virus or defragging programs. I don't use anti-virus but I regularly use Advanced System Care and may be that program is the one to blame on the current situation. I deleted it, but it didn't stop the bsod.

An hour ago my graphics card also stopped working for 3-4 seconds, it happened twice so I changed back to my old driver, 290.53 I believe. Since then, it happened twice again.
When I get bsod, it usually reboots my computer, though sometimes it does not and there is no visual on the monitor. This also happens rarely on reboot, no display. I rebooted my computer like 500 hundred times today and may be my graphics card is the problem, I have no idea.

I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit,
AMD Phenom-II X4 840,
Leadtek GTX460 OC Edition 1GB
4GB Gskill DDR3- 1333 MHz RAM
A cheap Asus motherboard

Hi and welcome to TSF while awaiting a analyst for your files please note the power supply your are using could be a part of the problem the minimum for the card is 450w this does not include the other hardware in your machine which also requires power I would look at getting a 650w to 750w power supply

Hi all,

I have a Dell Dimension 8250 Desktop computer with Window XP (Home Edition) and for the last 5 years I was able to copy pictures from my computer to CD by using the "Copy to CD" function line in the Window's "File and Folder Task" pull down menu.

But just recently for reasons unknown the "Copy to CD" function line has disappeared. Instead I tried to use the "Copy this File (or Folder)" function line to copy pictures to a CD in my F drive. Then a "Move to" destination window will show (which is normal). But when click on the F drive line (with a blank CD) the following message appeared basically I cannot gain access to the CD drive.

Has any fellow members in this forum experienced this same problem? If so I have appreciated very much for a fix of this glitch or point out if this my operator error. Thanks,

Hello Sonam.

Nice configuration. But it is the display driver that caused here.

Code:

What I have seen, the October edition is somehow problematic on a lot of machines. So I would suggest you to do what I did myself.....
Uninstall nVidia display driver using Driver Fusion , and then install an older version which was stable there.

And, you should install Service Pack 1.

Hi,

I am hoping to get some help on a problem I have been experiencing. I have an HP Pavillion dv5 with Vista SP2 64. This laptop did not come with a back up disk for the OS. I did create my own back up disks as recommended by HP, but have no clue where I would find the Vista.

I started to have trouble deleting files. What would happen is a 'calculating time' window would come up and then it would just go on endlessly. In order to stop it had to open task manager and stop the process. I've read several posts and have done troubleshooting with spybot and what the tech to eliminate any possible causes (viruses, malware etc..). I have run a diagnosis on PCPitstop and it shows I need to clean up files and defragment, but I can't do this as it just 'hangs' when I look to defrag or delete. On some of your earlier postings in 2008, I followed the instructions around possibly the recycling bin being corrupt. I ran the cmdprompt to see if it could detect and repair anything but no luck. I also tried the hot fix which apparently proved to be useless anyway. I have all the updates for Vista.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your time,

Ange

Have copied the "Pro_highres" files to my computer and deleted the smaller "Pro" files on the phone (Lumia 930) in order to save space. To me it seems logical that the larger files are the master files and should not be affected by removal of the smaller copies. However, the highres files which by mistake were not copied before the the smaller Pro files were deleted can not be opened, copied or viewed. The larger files can be opened on the computer even without the presence of the smaller files. While the phone is connected to the computer it is still possible to see the file names of the highres files on the computer screen but not on the phone - and again - I can not copy them from the phone to the computer nor open the files. What has happened and how to I get access to these photos??!! Thanks for any help!

Answer:Unable to see, copy or open the "Pro_highres" photo files after deleting the smaller "Pro" files?

Use File Browser on your computer to rename them to the file name of the 5MP version.
I'm finding that manipulation of the High Res jpegs from Lumia Camera on the phone is just not worth the blasted efforts. Shoot 5MP + High Res DNG and put Rawer on your phone. Then shoot your High Res jpegs in ProShot or Camera360 Sight and access them as normal through Camera Roll.

2. Is the blue screen always happening when doing the same task or is it random?
3. Since when does this problem happens?
4. Please, post the minidump here. Some people here knows how to read it here and can help to pinpoint the problem you have.

Hi
I'm having some weired problems ever since I installed SP1 on my Win7 x64 machine.
I get a BSOD(0x0000007F - UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP) every time I try to copy files from my desktop PC via direct wired network.
I tested my memory and HDD and everything is OK. This is not the first problem I have after installing SP1.
also had some "Audio Service not running" errors and a built in SHIFT + Right Click cmd option corruption, not to mention the extra 3-4 minutes SP1 added to boot time on both, my desktop PC and laptop.
This is happening once or twice and then I can copy files without a problem. If I restart the PC the problem reappears, once or twice and I again can copy files without a problem.
Here is a picture of the blue screen: http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/7187/image063p.jpg

Hello,
Please remove Norton. You may reinstall Norton again until we are done troubleshooting - however I do not recommend doing so. Use this removal tool to remove Norton: Norton Removal Tool

Use Avast or MSE with Windows Firewall in it's place.

Remove Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120%. They use a file sptd.sys, which is notorious of causing BSOD with Windows 7. Use this SPTD uninstaller when done: DuplexSecure - Downloads
Select Uninstall; do not select reinstall

Everytime I try to watch a video on my PC, it always lags. It goes very slow, the video always drags and its never in sync with the audio. It also does the same thing when I try to watch videos on youtube and it takes forever to load. It basically does this on any video I want to watch. I know my PC is crap but this is really pissing me off.

This should be in Multimedia not Hardware - sry about that

Answer:Watching videos on my PC lags all the time

if you know your pc is crap well thats your answer its a older computer and cant handle either all the other processes running while you watch the videos or just cant handle the video at all with the system in its current state... i could give you a few tips to help you get it running (probably smoother, nothing is garented here but its worth a shot if you dont plan to pay for upgrades)

You must have a reinstall CD to go anyfurther

1st if you have had the pc for a few years you have alot of cluster space on the HD you probally didnt even know is there (all those files you deleted from the reclying bin ... most are still there in the background... formatted? doesnt matter... that helps but not as much as you think...)

Ok so yes if that is your case... you want to download DBaN from http://dban.sourceforge.net/

theres a version for CD & Floppy you need 1 or the other if you cant do this have a friend do it for you that can burn cd's... save all files you really need to cd or another drive ...
now that your backed up your ready pop in the disc and let it boot up (if it doesnt post back and ill tell you how to change bios seettings to make it)... hit F3 choose either dod, or guttmann (just type either 1 and hit enter... now leave your pc to format overnight (i have stoped DBaN on its (20-25 of 35th cycle (about 9 hours or so on this machine)) ... now your ready to reinstall windows.. pop your cd in, install however you want ...

Can I network 2 computers to copy files even if one can only boot up in safe mode? If I have to reformat the hard drive on the one that will only boot up in safe mode, I would like to save some files. Thanks again in advance.

Answer:Copy files from one computer to another

I don't know.  So, what I would do is pull the HD out of the bad machine and temporarily connect it to the other machine as a slave, i.e. second, HD, and then get the files I want from it.But, you may want to wait and see what others have to say here, first.

Hi-
I have a very simple question here!! Right before my old laptop (Windows XP) crashed, I saved all photos, music and Word documents on my external hard drive. I just bought a brand new laptop and want to get the files from the external hard drive to the new computer (Windows Vista). I already downloaded the program where my photos were stored e.g. Canon Zoombrowser and as well as a new version of Itunes on the new computer.

Now, when I attempt to retrieve the files for photos and music from my external hard drive, do I just click and drag these files and drop them into the new programs? Or do I click and drag those files into the Music and Pictures folders of my new computer? And, if you have suggestions to do this, I'd appreciate the advice.

What is the easiest way to do this?
Thanks-
Sonia

Answer:How to copy files on new computer!

Right-click drag them to the folder where you want them. Choose "Copy" when you release the button so that a copy stays on the external, just in case.

Answer:How do I copy files from my old computer to new that has Win 10 ??

Create the folder on the Desktop then double click on it to open it. Do exactly what you did to copy to the Desktop but copy/paste (don't move in case there are problems, delete after the paste is successful) into the new Folder.

Can you describe where you are having a problem?

Anytime I try to copy or delete files from CDRW/DVDRW I get the following Blue Screen of Death:

multiple_irp_complete_requests 0x00000044 (0x87e36e00, 0x00000d63, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I tried removing from device manager and updating drivers. That didnt work, there are no problems shown in device manager either. I updated my nforce chipset drivers that didnt fix it. I looked for driver updates for the drives themselves but i have the latest. I even tried swapping the drives (making one master and the other slave where they were vise versa), even tried a new IDE cable.

Here is the really wierd thing though, I swap out HDDs with a HDD bay so I can have 2 setups on 1 computer. My other "setup" works fine with these 2 optical drives. So something is screwed up in Windows on my main "setup" that I cannot fix or figure out.

Any ideas? I'm on Windows XP

(you know what? BSOD just happened right before i click the submit button. -_-* luckily Chrome's restored back this page and i don't have to type everything again..)

BSOD started like a week ago. I've been trying to find ways of why it happened or what to do stuff, found one, tried it but to no avail.. and my pc really crashes a lot. I found this place a few days ago and read a few posts. Read the posting instructions for BSOD and i downloaded the SF Diagnostic Tool. I've attached the zip file.

That's one problem. The second problem is, on 1st November i found out that i could not rename any files that i wanted and i was using safe mode too. so i tried to play around with cut, copy, paste or delete and nothing happens. except for cut maybe, because it greyed out when i cut but it won't copy to anywhere else. even if i use drag and drop nothing happens. the same goes for copy-paste with keyboards. no errors warnings or messages, it just does nothing. my recycle bin seems so lonely nowadays..

oh, i've tried some of the methods suggested in some pages here by using unlocker or lockhunter but ... though it seems i can rename the files now by using lockhunter.

the result for SF Diagnostic Tool didn't go to my desktop either. it ended up in my other disk not OS.

Any kind of help is really really appreciated..

this has been annoying me for the past couple monthes, and with diablo 3 going live in a couple days I've been polishing up my computers performance, and decided to seek help in fixing a problem I haven't figured out.

unlike all information I've seen on vista boot issues, mine still works. it just lags. when i turn my computer on it goes through my bios screen at the normal speed but once it gets out of the bios screen i can barley see the boot screen horizantal bar (the part where the green squares go back and forth) but it is transparent (because had it not been lagging it would fade in) and it lags there for anywhere from a minutes to 5 minutes, then the bar fades the rest of the way in and all is fine. the rest of my boot is fast I have no other problems whatsoever.
interestingly enough if I hold f8 to boot in safe mode, it doesn't lag, loading windows memory diagnostic tool doesn't lag, booting from a disc dosn't lag. only the normal boots. and then its only 80% of the time

its been doing this a couple monthes, I've tried system restore, I've cleaned up all junk and unused files and programs, I've ran both anti malware and virus checks and both came back clean. I've even tried updateing my bios and removing extra un-necissary components (wireless card, dvd drives, and extra sata controller). I even took it apart, cleaned each piece individually with compressed air then reassembled (I didn't think it would fix my problem, but you know it can only help reduce heat)

Hi,

Just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on the wife's HP laptop computer. Trying to copy files from my Dell XPS 720 to the HP Laptop. I have set all drives on both computers to be shared and can see all the drives when accessing "Network" on both computers but I can't copy from one to the other (says I don't have access). I have run the Check Network for Errors (or whatever it is called) on both computers and it does not fix the problem.

Also, I can't access my three printers/faxes from the HP Laptop using network connections. The laptop lists all the printers correctly but won't access them, plus I have been running "Windows Update" for over 2 hours on the HP Laptop and it does nothing.

Thanks in advance for help!! I don't expect an answer tonight, I just realized it is late and I have to get up in the morning, like most everybody else

Listed below is my System info, Tech Guy Sys Info, and ipconfig /all for both computers:

I just got a new Intel i7 2.67ghz computer and have a strange problem when copying files from an external HDD via firewire but with a twist....

When I just select a bunch of files from the HDD and copy them to the computer, after about 6 minutes the computer freezes and nothing works exept the restart button. This will happen every time. I tried different HDD's and different files. Same problem.

BUT when I use an external program to copy files (I use Copy Handler) all the files are copied fine.

So I guess it can't be an issue with the firewire or else the computer would freeze like it does when I use XP OS to copy.

What do you guys think?

Answer:Computer freeze on Copy Files but....

I assume XP has all updates installed?

Is the external drive formatted NTFS?

Strange problem

Hi,One of my teachers gave me a CD-R with an infected file (as I found out after I scanned it with Norton Antivirus), but I need to save the file to my computer (and then I will use Norton Antivirus fix the file).  However, when I try to save the files from the CD-R disc, I am not able to transfer them.  Is there some way that I could transfer them to my computer?

Answer:Copy infected files to computer

You really want to get infected?

If they are large files or it is a large group this may be why it chokes and it may not be the devices at all...There is i believe a 2G limitation under NTFS.It may be 4 but i believe it's 2...

I just got the brand new phoenix 860 this morning. it's the model with GTX 960 inside. Every time I start to play game, the fps is very high during the first 1-2 minutes. And then the fps just fall to around 10. I've got the latest driver, so I wonder whether there's something else wrong?--------------Update: Problem Solved by myself. It's the design of the data wires inside. The wire is too long, it bended and touched the fan on the graphic card and stop the fan. That leads to a very high temperature of the GPU. Now i rearranged the wire and problem solved.

Ok, it took me over 4 hours one Sunday to figure out how to network my Vista x64 machine with my windows xp x32 laptop (wireless). It wound up being SP3. I had to uninstall it and now I can network.
The problem I now have is, I can't copy or paste or drag anything from my laptop to my Vista machine public or home network documents. I can only put whatever I am copying into my Shared Documents folder on my xp laptop, then go and get the documents from my Vista PC by navagating to the shared Documents folder on the xp machine. I can access any folder from my vista machine on to my xp machine...

Any Ideas would be helpful!!

Thanks in advance!!!!
