Preferred Solution: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED ntoskrnl.exe 0x0000001e

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This single crash was caused by the directx portion of your video driver. I would re-install the newest (non beta) version as indicated.

I would also suggest you back off the overclocking to test for often it is the cause.

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy. I would just install the driver not the whole ccc as the extra's are often the cause of video problems.

I've been getting the same BSOD for the past couple of days.

Things I've already done (to no avail):
Ran memtest 4.20 overnight - NO ERRORS
Replaced avast antivirus with Microsoft security essentials
Ran a quick scan with MSE - NO PROBLEMS
Updated ATI drivers to latest Catalyst 12.3
My specs are the following:
Custom built PC, less than 2 months old
Motherboard: Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 OEM
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me crazy.

Since your ram appears to be ok I would start with driver verifier.
These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (Cx05) probably a driver.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5-7 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Driver verifier

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can ... Read more

Hi!

Since I've upgraded my PC with a new motherboard, CPU, a second Nvidia GTX 580 graphics card (to make it SLI) and a cooler system for the CPU, I've been having random BSOD crashes.

I reinstalled my OS after changing the hardware, and since then I've been having these BSOD.

The BSOD refers the cause to a driver named ntoskrnl.exe.
I've included the DMP files and a system health report on this message.

You can find my system spec on my profile.

Thank you for your help guys!

WTF IS THAT?! My computer just turns off without warning out of no were. I turned off that "automaticaly reboot after errors" or sumtin like that, but it still does it, i hear it has sumtin to do with either my hard drive or ram, i took them out and pluged in the one i normally use, and my ram hasnt changed at all. can anyone help?

Answer:0x0000001E, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

I can run a debugging utility on the dump files if you do this:

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to %systemroot%\minidump and copy the last few minidump files to that folder.%systemroot% is normally c:\windows. They are numbered by date. You can paste that address in address bar to get there.
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.
4 > use the "manage attachments" in the "advanced" reply window to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

This might point us to a 3rd party driver causing the error, if one exists for it.

Since almost all bugchecks can be caused by faulty ram, I would recommend you perform memory tests.

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased an Asus G53SX Notebook, and I keep getting BSOD's at least daily. Some of them refer to ndis.sys, nvlddmkm.sys, ntoskrnl.exe, tcpip.sys and Ntfs.sys. I suspect it might be some RAM modules that the store owners added to the laptop before I purchased it. So far, I upgraded the BIOS to the latest version, upgraded the graphics card drivers, checked memory for errors with the Windows utility (No errors). Most of them are KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Please help me and let me know if you need more info.

Hello.

This is the first time in two years time that I've received a BSOD. I woke up this morning, turned on my PC as usual, the OS reached the start-up picture (the one with a date and time on it), and it then spew the BSOD out on me.

1. Nothing is over-clocked. Everything is working on its default stock speeds (CPU, RAM, GPU).

2. I'm ruling out overheating cause the PC was less than a minute on till the BSOD appeared.

3. All of the possible OS updates have been installed via Windows Update. No changes in the OS's settings have been made in months as well.

4. All of the software I use (including drivers) is stable (not alpha, beta, so on...) and up-to-date. The OS is also an RTM release.

The only changes I've made in the past 7 days are as follows:

a) Uninstalled Opera 12.15 and installed its new version - v15. Highly doubt it has anything to do with this.

b) Reinstalled Daemon Tools LITE (+sptd v1.83). The version I had was 4.47.1-0333 and the disc-soft's main site had 4.47.1-0335.

c) Upgraded to a new graphics card - GTX780. The card, as stated above, is working on its default settings. Using the 320.49 WHQL drivers with it.

Bluescreen viewer gives out the following information: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and 0x0000001e. It says the error was caused by the ACPI.sys driver at crash address ntoskrnl.exe+5a440.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Answer:KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Error Code 0x0000001e

ACPI.sys is related to power management. So, you just installed a new graphics card; yes? Can you current PSU handle the new power requirements? Specs say the minimum PSU recommendation is 600 watts for the GTX 780. Also, did you connect the 8 pin and 6 pin supplementary power connectors (information obtained from specs)?

Sirs,

This has just started to occur these past few weeks, there seems to be no real pattern of events, the crash occurs when I've been using any number of my applications... I have tried searching around on-line for various help/tips, but nothing I've tried so far has resolved the issue. If you are able to analise the attached data & offer any suggestions, it would be most appreciated...

Many thanks in advance...

Answer:BSOD KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED NETIO.sys 0x0000001e

All 3 dumps indicate a problem with avgfwd6a.sys.

Code:
ffffb581`9bc439a8 fffff809`b4bf235f*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for avgfwd6a.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for avgfwd6a.sys

This belongs to AVG Antivirus. Uninstall it and run with the built-in Windows Defender and Firewall for awhile, see if that resolves the problem.

Hey there, recently I downloaded sketchy winrar file with an .exe file in it to my laptop which I opened and that then proceded to open a bunch of dos prompt type windows, so I guess it was a virus. anyways after all that I got a blue screen of death with a STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error. When I tried to reboot I got the same thing again so it was pretty much a loop. Eventually I figured out that if I disconnected my network/internet cable I could boot up fine and run windows without any problems. I deleted all of the malicious files and ran a virus scan that showed nothing was wrong but Im pretty sure the virus did something to my registry because whenever I try to reconnect to the internet I get this same blue screen error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Guys,

I am having recurring blue screens on my Vista Business x64 OS.

The machine has the following components:
- Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83 Ghz
- 8 GB of RAM
- ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO

The problem seems to occure when debugging in Visual Studio 2008.
However, I can't say for sure this is the cause because I'm pretty much using VS all day long and the odds would have been slim that the crash occured when VS was off. However, that's what the minidump (see below) seems to indicate (VSProject2009 is the name of the project I was debugging).

Also, I have been using VS for years with different configurations and never had such problems. We also actually have a few other computers identical to this one (hardware + software images) and people using VS on them, and no one has reported any issues.

Now on to the minidump.

This is the message displayed by Vista:

Answer:BlueScreen - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED in NTOSKRNL.EXE

Visual Studio was the process that was running when the crash occurred - but it doesn't blame it.

Here's the key statement:

Probably caused by : klif.sys ( klif+4756 )

This is your Kaspersky protection. You can either uninstall it and then reinstall it - or you can go with something else.

In the event that this is the Internet Security version, I must state that I do not recommend any Internet Security application due to the problems that I see with it.
When they break it's not usually this easy to pin the blame on them - and the errors that they cause are usually very difficult to troubleshoot.

Hello,  I saw a topic similar to this one recently on this site, and I wasn't sure if the answers applied to my box.  Could you review my minidumps and other collection files?

Windows 10:  KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED ntoskrnl.exe+14a510
The computer freezes when no one is using the computer, after about 15 minutes.  It does not actually display a blue screen or restart, but the display just freezes.

I have tried a lot of things.
sfc /scannow -  found a problem with networkexplorer.dll.  However, the DSIM command to repair could not find the source, even when I pointed it to the ISO.  I turned off network discovery and Wifi, and the issue still happens.
Chkdsk
Windows Memory Diagnostic
Looked to see if any drivers were installed recently, and didn't see anything.
I really have no idea what is wrong, and I'd really rather not reset Windows.   You've been so helpful to the other person who posted on this issue, and I thought you could help me out.

The perfmon report didn't generate, but I attached the other file collection zip file.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version 2.1.3) dates from 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a more recent update.FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).Although you appear to have a reasonable number of Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.  The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating. The memory dumps all blame video, and all the errors are STOP 0x1E (more info on this error here:  http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x0000001E )I would first suggest- download a fresh set of the latest nVidia drivers from the Dell support website for your system- uninstall the current nVidia drivers from Control Panel...Programs and Features- install the freshly downloaded drivers- monitor for further BSOD's If the BSOD's continue, please run these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.htmlStart with the video tests, but please run ALL of the tests - and le... MY PC crashes random with KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Gigabyte GTX 1070
Gigabyte Aorus Gaming K5

Answer:KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED ntoskrnl.exe Windows 10

Hello Moda99

Welcome to TenForums!

All the BSOD dumps suggest memory corruption and this can be due to faulty RAM or a driver causing problems.

The only drivers I can find mentioned in any of the dumps are:

Code:
ffffd480`208eaa48 fffff80e`777974e0Unable to load image \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\e2xw10x64.sys, Win32 error 0n2

*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for klif.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for klif.sys
klif+0x3c090

So three things to try in this order:

1. Uninstall Kaspersky to see if this stops the BSOD (klif.sys is a Kaspersky driver) and use Windows Defender while troubleshooting

2. Update the Killer Miniport driver e2xw10x64.sys if possible - it is currently dated Jan 2016 so there may not be a newer one.

3. Run Memtest86+

Diagnostic Test

 RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

   Note

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Hello , I recently upgraded from my AMD 270X to the AMD RX580 OC Armor (MSI)
And from this point onward i keep getting these random reboots/crashes but they only accur while i am gaming (not all games cause this)
I can only reproduce the reboot/dump by playing Playerunknown's Battlegrounds , The part where it asks you to jump of the plane it jumps... 5 secs later pc reboot.
I have been trying so many things to resolve this issue so i will post my dump files here in the hope anybody can tell me what actuall driver/hardware is acting up here.
(it is odd because i sometimes can play say ARK on epic for 3 days NP and sometimes it crashes my pc within 30 minutes)

I ran 3Dmark (fine no errors)

Answer:BSOD KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED ( ntoskrnl.exe , ntkrnlmp.exe)

Hi there,

It seems if theres an Problem with you AMD GPU:

Code:
Card name: Radeon RX 580 Series

The crash dump analysis reveals not much info, except a clue in the stack:

Code:
0x0000001E: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (20.07.2017 01:15:50) [Windows 10]

CAUSED BY: memory_corruption

PROCESS: ALLBenchmark.exe

Usual causes: Device driver, hardware, System service, compatibility, Remote control programs, memory, BIOS

ffffe380`3d3dcf98 fffff806`a54c2785 dxgmms2!VidSchSubmitCommand+0x2c5

dxgmms2 could indicate a problem with the GPU driver or the graphics card itself.

There are error messages in eventlog too which show an GPU problem:

Code:

Theres the tool AMD Overdrive installed.

I've been having BSODs ever since I did a system upgrade a few months back. I made the following upgrades:
- added 2 sticks of new RAM (Corsair xms3 8gb kit)
- added a new SSD (Intel SSDSC2BW180A3L)
- I also cloned my OS from my old drive to the SSD, don't know if that would cause problems
- overclocked my cpu to 3.2ghz from 2.67 (core i5-750)

The minidump files are attached. Grateful for any help! Thanks.

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? 64bit
- the original installed OS on the system? Yes
- an OEM or full retail version? OEM
- OEM = came pre-installed on system
- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer

- What is the age of system (hardware)? 5 months
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 5 months, came factory

I've been researching my BSOD issues and most of the fixes lead back to posts on this site so I figured I would register and hope for some help of my own.

I've got several BSOD's in the last two days, most refernece the NTOSKRNL.exe and a few times I've seen RT64win7.sys and AFD.sys.

I've attached the BSOD Dump & System File Collection info but the System Health Report kept kicking back an error so I dont have that info. I hope this is enough, thanks in advance for any help.

Hi and welcome to Seven Forums!

You have SpywareBlaster and Malwarebytes installed on your PC but no real time protection. Please install Microsoft Security Essentials and scan your PC.

-------------------------

Some crashes blame DirectX and/or your graphics card. As DirectX is built into windows, it can indicate file corruption. It could also mean you have graphics card issues.
Please run the sfc /scannow checker to check and repair important system files. Follow option two in this tutorial: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker. If it reports that Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations, tell me. If it attempts to repair files, attach the CBS.log file to your next post. It is located here C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.
Then, follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. If that proves unsuccessful and doesn't solve the BSOD's, then try to reinstall your graphics card drivers by following these steps.
Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)
Click Start Menu
Click Control Panel
Click Uninstall a program

For NVIDIA:
Uninstall the NVIDIA Graphics Driver (this should uninstall all NVIDIA software and drivers)
Restart your computer
Make sure NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver, NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player, NVIDIA HD Audio Driver, and NVIDIA PhysX System Software are not still listed under Uninstall a program through Control Panel
If any remain of the above, uninstall one at a time
If asked to restart after uninstalling any... Read more

Hello all! I'm a newcomer here looking for some help. I just started receiving the BSOD this weekend on my desktop. It has been working flawlessly since last summer. I only made a couple of changes this weekend.

1. I installed 3dMark11
2. changed video cables and monitors to connect a laptop dock with dual monitors.

I have since:
uninstalled 3dMark,
reconnected the monitors,
uninstalled, installed and then upgraded the Intel Rapid Storage drivers/software,
uninstalled and reinstalled Paragon recovery(due to another error that I thought pointed to it),
done a system restore,
checked as many of the drivers to make sure they are as up to date as possible.

From reading other threads, I believe the following is what is needed to help. I appreciate any help that you can provide.

The last 4 .dmp files point to a possible RAM problem. The only way to check that is to run a minimum of 8 consecutive passes of Memtest86+ as described here:

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

It is not sufficient to install the RAM into a different system as a test.

8 different causes most pointing to hardware. If you are overclocking stop.

Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

This machine has a long history of crashing intermittently. I've historically told it's been related to graphics drivers, but I've uninstalled and reinstalled and wiped and started fresh with those dozens of times. I've also done the same thing with the network drivers, since the Killer/Qualcomm/Aetheros seem to be notorious for that.

I've run memtest and found nothing. I have not been able to reproduce the crash in any way, and it certainly doesn't seem related to stressing the system. If anything, the system's more likely to crash when it's cold and not doing anything.

I've attached what's been spit out of the DM log collector, a zip file of all the minidumps I see, along with a screenshot of what bluescreenoverview pulled from the dump files.

Any suggestions or advice gratefully appreciated.

Hi,

My issue is to do with accessing my PC via RDP, I have a work PC which I should be able to access via RDP (mstsc) however whenever I attempt RDP access to my work PC from another, my work PC blue screens reboots, and then allows me access once rebooted. It will still grant me RDP access for a short while but coming back to it the next day it will then blue screen again. This is not only happening to me but too a couple of people within our company.

I have tried allowing the port I use for port forwarding to access my PC through the firewall and I have tried installing all windows updates but nothing seems to have worked.

I know that my PC is blue screening because I have attempted RDP access in the same room.

Attached is the latest .dmp file.

Cheers for the help.

Hey guys so I've been getting some random BSOD errors every few days or so. I usually leave my computer on when I am at work or sleep and either when I come home or wake up my computer is off. So I turn it on and it says that the computer didn't shut down properly when I start up. I downloaded the BlueScreenView and noticed I've had some BSOD three times within 10 days. One was a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error which I believe was a RAM problem (i bought new RAM and installed it plus OCed it to 2133, but I believe it was making my system unstable so I reset the speed to default and haven't gotten that error again), but after that I've gotten two IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors related to ntoskrnl.exe. I did some research online and from what I read it could be a number of problems. I'm just not sure where to start and could really use some guidance and advice. I uploaded my dmp files for anyone who knows how to look at these.

Thank in advance.

Really lot's of Times , Even in Safe Mode with Networking !! I guess it's because of my Network driver because I got BSOD in Safe Mode with Network but I never got a BSOD in normal Safe mode , BTW I dunno how to solve it !!

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Alcohol 120% at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Next uninstall Virtual CloneDrive, as vclone.sys is as fatal as SPTD.sys, too.
After doing these two, report the situation back.

I have searched the forum.

Problem 1: BSOD randomly, usually graphics related. eg, flash games in chrome, graphics related software (Mathematica).

Problem 2: I use an internet usb 3G device to connect to internet. Every morning the device will not connect to internet and computer will hang on shutting down screen when I restart. I have to manually turn off and back on again. I think this may be a dying capacitor on motherboard that needs 2 boot's to get excited.

Problem 3: Chrome "aw snap" happens regularly and is usually flash content related, even ad banners seem to cause it from time to time. I have reinstalled chrome, checked plugins etc etc no luck. Internet explorer runs stable, but for example in flash games it seems to momentarily freeze and then catch up with itself again. These are moments where I think chrome would have crashed.

Things I've done:

1) SFC scan. All's well.

2) Memtest. I did 1 pass, it took an hour, everything fine. Will put it on over night tonight.

3)Checked for latest drivers. A... Read more

**************UPDATE 5 ****************

The sequence of events went as follows.
RAM test 1 pass was passed. Verifier.exe caused immediate BSOD on windows start when activated. Trying to hunt down drivers revealed any combo of 3 or more drivers gave BSOD at startup. Randomly decided to recheck RAM. Failed memtest after 27 minutes pass 1. Found one RAM stick that passed after one pass slot0. Got fed up of waiting for other slot's. Devised a plan to use verifier to check the RAM by seeing which combo's of RAM sticks gave BSOD on startup. All combo's passed. And now verifier does not give BSOD on any setting. Began to hate life. Cheered myself up with prospect of sleep. Put all 16 Gb RAM in properly and ran mentest for 18 hours, 6 passes. No error. Still no verifier.exe errors when enabled. Wrote this update.

If RAM failed after 27min one test, and then after swapping around a retest of 18 hours has no error, one would presume the RAM may be ok. Equally, I believe one could say the RAM is suspect. So, if the test is failed it really doesn't tell us anything except there is a problem somewhere. But we know there is a problem since we have BSOD!!! If I hadn't rerun the test I wouldn't question the RAM.

So the question is: how do I categorically ensure that a stick of RAM is good? Is memtest on RAM with an alternative working computer enough?

In summary:

I ran memtest for 18 hours, which was 6 passes. No problems detected. Using verifier.exe with pro... Read more

Got my first blue screen of death tonight, had 2 firefox opened one watching youtube video another browsing internet. After bsod it restarted i login but just black screen with cursor, ctrl alt delete worked so i shut my computer down. Boot up normally after, check my minidump file, bsod cause by ntoskrnl.exe. Did little search on google find has to do with ram and hard drive.

Downloaded wd data life guard diagnostic for my mechanic drive which is healthy but my ssd on shows failed end to end error rate(value/threshold/worst is all 0) in SMART statue. Im not sure if i can trust this wd diagnostic on my crucial ssd, there are alot of unknown in SMART statue too. Theres no ssd diagnotic for crucial, there is a firmware not sure if it helps. So i downloaded and ran crystaldiskinfo on my ssd, health statues says good, it doesnt say end to end error rate like wd. Instead same ID B4 line says "unused reserve nand blocks" instead. Is my ssd good? i havent ran a test on my ram yet.

I'm getting random Blue Screens and can't figure out why. I'm not running any hardcore programs. I'm mostly just using Microsoft Office and Firefox. The BSOD's seem to happen when I'm in Outlook, Excel or Firefox. Haven't been able to determine exactly which at the time as I'm moving back and forth between them quite often.

I've tried the SFC command and it didn't find anything. I used BlueScreenViewer but not a lot of help. All drivers for sound and video have been updated. I've also updated the firmware to the Crucial M4 SSD version 040H.

Any insight would be great.

Update the firmware of your Crucial M4-CT256M4SSD2.

And, Uninstall McAfee Using McAfee Removal Tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Free up the startup.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus and touchpad driver SynTPEnh.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.

Hello. My computer has been really acting up since yesterday. I received 3 BSODs for the first time since owning this computer.
The code of the crash is: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Computer also crashed while being idle.
Only thing that I installed was a driver update via windows update which I think may be the guilty party here:
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. driver update for AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.2)
Attached are all three minidumps, but there's also a memory.dmp but it's 400MB big.
I compressed the memory.dmp and uploaded it do dropbox:

Answer:Kmode_exception_not_handled

There are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

Please provide the MGADiag report according to these instructions (from this post: Product Key Number - Uninstall and Deactivate in Windows - Page 3 - Windows 7 Help Forums ):

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

Hello everyone,

I am getting this BSOD on a new install/build and need help solving.

Everything installs fine and the PC will run for perfectly for a couple of days then I get this BSOD KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e).

Sometimes the system will boot right back up and work for a few minutes then the screen image will start to "pixelate" and degarde and the system will shut down without a BSOD.

Other times I can not get the PC to boot again and will have to cut the power and wait a few hours. Then it will boot again and be fine. I am working on it right now and everthing is fine after letting it sit overnight.

I have attached the System Health Report and BSOD Report as zip files.

I have tried to follow all the rules so if I haven't I apologize upfront.

Intermittently hitting this error on boot up. I initially got it when I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
I got the BSOD on bootup a few times and during normal use; system would go to BSOD then would reboot to desktop fine until it finally stayed in the BSOD on every bootup.

I did a clean install of windows 7 and then updated to windows 10 with no other programs / drivers etc on the machine.
However, I still get the BSOD with the same error: kmode_exception_not_handled.

On searching the internet, I suspect it must be a driver out of date, but I cant figure out which one, they all seem to be the most recent versions.

Hello, I'm new to these forums and im lost with my BSOD issue, tried to find solved issues but no luck.

I've installed new set of ram to my computer a week ago, that's when the BSOD's started happening randomly during normal operation. I've tried to use my old RAM sticks but for some reason the blue screens kept happening (maybe I installed in different slots than before?). I've ran memtest86 without problems, i have run system file check without errors, i reinstalled windows 7, i've updated the latest bios, downloaded latest drivers for hardware and bunch of other little tweaks i have tried. Nothing works and I'm running out of ideas. I can buy new hardware but first i need to know which piece is broken (If this is happening because of my hardware).

The bluescreens happen when i use some application like browsing random website or playing some FPS games or phoning with skype and they seem to have different causes everytime. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM, PFN_LIST_CORRUPT, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION... One thing is common with all of them. They all are revolving around ntoskrnl.exe with other system files.

Our computer has been intermittently crashing with the KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error for the past 3 weeks. This usually happens after I try and install AVG Internet Security. The problem persists even after a fresh install and freezes my PC upon reboot.
Can someone please provide me with feedback as to what could be causing this error and how I can go about solving it.?
Thanks!

Hi,
If you're desperate to have AVG antivirus you can try to update network drivers first and then re test AVG:
MSI Global - The best gaming gears maker in the world

Updating Windows and other drivers is of course not bad.

Try to disable Ethernet connection and use wireless and see if that makes any change.
If none of these works, AVG removal is the only option left.

This crash was either because AVG or network driver, but hard to tell without more dumps.

Answer:Kmode_exception_not_handled

Unfortunately I don't analyse crash dumps but you mention kmode_exception_not_handled which is a very common bug check. This indicates faulty hardware or incompatible hardware. Or a faulty device driver has corrupted the system. You also mentioned memory management, these are two different bug checks. From what it looks like I think it could be faulty RAM, try running memtest86 for at least 7 passes.

Follow these instructions:

Hello everyone.

I've just had a blue screen experience! I was working on a document and all of a sudden I got a blue screen. I didn't take down all the details (oops) but it started off

STOP 0x0000001E ...

and then

KMODE-EXCEPTION_NOT-HANDLED.

I noticed the TV went funny at the same time? Could an electricity problem cause that? The computer didn't go off. I had to reboot.

No virus (AVG free)
No spyware (adaware)

Oh and it's windows 2000.

Any ideas. Thanks!

Answer:Kmode_exception_not_handled

If the TV went funny its prolly power related are you on a UPS unit? If not a strongly suggest you get one even if it wasn't the power that caused this. UPS units do 2 things. 1) Keep a computer running when the power goes out. 2) Conditions your power so if there is any power spike or dip it won't hit your PC first.

Usually with any 0x0000001E error you want to see where it says the KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED is I.E. aspi.sys or kernl.exe or whatever. This will give us more information as to what actual device had the problem. (My thought if its power related may be something power management wise).

Check your Event viewer if you have it enabled there should be a record of the shutdown and possibly it captured the error in there.

I'm working on my parents computer and they are randomly receiving BSODs. They tell me they usually receive them when browsing the internet and running several other programs at once. They are using a Dell Studio XPS 7100 running Windows Home Premium.

My guess is that the issue is driver related. The reason I think this is because I ran the driver verifier and it created a BSOD (this also created the last mini dump file in the attached files). The BSOD message said "A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught. The faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced with a working version."

Would someone mind looking through the attached documents and letting me know if you see any problems?

I was listening to music and doing some reading for college when all of the sudden my computer crashed. The error code I was presented with was "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"
When googling the problem, I am only able to find answers relating to Windows 2000, and those answers involve this BSOD occurring upon start-up. This just randomly occurred while listening to music using VLC media player.
Here is more information about the problem.

Edit: I finally found the topic Mak posted about troubleshooting stop codes. I have not installed any thing recently, so my problem is still unresolved.

Edit#2: It turns out that windows did download updates today, but I have not restarted my computer to install these updates until after I have had this BSOD occur.

Answer:BSOD KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Mak mentions that this could be caused by "invalid memory and access violations caused by faulty drivers or hardware devices" would this point to faulty RAM?

1 Windows Update installed. Most 8.1 systems have 26 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

You have a Broadcom 802.11abgn Wireless SDIO Adapter:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7(and I suspect with Win8) - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:

1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to.

My biggest suspicion is AhnRghNt.sys - AhnLab Common Registry Hook Driver (appears to be part of a security program). Please uninstall it to see if the BSOD's stop (be sure to enable Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall while testings without the AhnLab program).

Please remove / disable items from the startup in taskmanager
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble and increase the boot time.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

Uninstall Daemon ToolsDownload the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
Double click the executable to open itClick on the button shown below

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

Hi everyone,
This is my first post in this forum.
I have a problem with multiple BSODs on my computer.
I tried to solve the first couple of BSODs but with no luck at all.
I then decided to reinstall Windows 10 on my computer but the BSODs kept coming.

The first one was KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (nvlddmkm.sys). Unfortunately I don't have a dump file from this crash because i forgot to configure the dump file.

I tried to reinstall my Nvidia drivers using DDU and install the latest drivers from Nvidias site.
In blue screen viewer I can see that TCPIP.sys i also mentioned.

I have also tried to run sfc /scannow and there was some problems that couldn't be fixed.
I then used the dism tool to repair it with a windows image.

After this the computer work for a day or two and it blue screen again.
This time it said KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE and i then watch in the "WhoCrashed" program and ut said the source was ntkrnlmp.exe.
On internet some people said that this was solved by removing Hyper-V switches.
So I decided to remove Hyper-V from my computer (Awful software).

It worked again for a day or two and then it crashed again with the message KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and the source was: tcpip.sys.
But blue screen viewer says the source is nvlddmkm.sys.

I'm really starting to think this is a hardware issue but I hope it's a bad driver.
I hope some i this forum can help me with this issue I've attached the Zip file as requested.

Thanks in advance and excuse me i... Read more

Hi everyone.

Quite a while back, I purchased an HP Pavilion Sleekbook with Windows 8. It had problems since the day I bought it around two months ago. The shop does not accept refunds. But this laptop has been in the PC clinic around 8 times since I bought it. The problem persisted, although the laptop was formatted many times, and the network card with the problematic driver (netr28x.sys) was replaced. it's crashed many more times since I brought it back, so I got fed up and disabled the network card. I had an old wireless adapter lying around, so I connected that to the computer earlier today. It was working fine for a little while... and then yep. Bluescreen. This time the error was KMODE_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (intelppm.sys). I've attached the files that the SF Diagnostic Tool yielded. I believe four of the five dumps are from before, caused by netr28x.sys, and the latest one is this new error.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:BSOD with KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

I would be on the phone with HP right now. HP's warranty is 1 year - and Win8 came out last October - so you should have about 2 months left on your warranty.

The latest memory dump is suggestive of a hardware problem (see the Usual Causes listed here: BSOD Index ).
Although driver problems are possible with this error, your having reformatted it several times should have ruled that sort of issue out.
You must remove the wireless USB network adapter to completely rule out driver problems (as these devices tend to crash a lot). Here's my canned speech about them:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7(and I suspect with Win8) - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful. (For laptops I suggest using the in-built wireless card, or the in-built wired connection)

Meanwhile, you can start with these hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Hello,

I really need help...
I have Vista x64, and I have random crash with the code 1E. I checked msconfig to deactivate/remove entries which were not necessary but I can't say now if that worked or no... Maybe if I don't have any crash more until tonight, that would mean I managed to deactivate the failing component!

I put the debug log in attachment, made with DebugWiz.
It says that "ntkrnlmp.exe" would be responsible for that crash... Wow! System component...

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th parameters are strange : 0, 8 & 0!!
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Many thanks

Answer:BSoD - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

NTKRNLMP.EXE is the on-disk image containing the OS kernel and Executive. It is very common for memory corruption issues to manifest themselves as crashes in the functions of that module. That doesn't necessarily mean the underlying fault is a bug in the kernel. In fact, it almost never means that

This minidump is not going to directly help you pinpoint the cause, but you could start bu updating the oldest drivers in that list. For example:

fffffa60`0357f000 fffffa60`0358d000 ElbyCDFL ElbyCDFL.sys Thu Dec 14 22:22:27 2006 (4581C093)
fffffa60`039fa000 fffffa60`039fd600 copperhd copperhd.sys Wed May 24 05:51:13 2006 (4473D831)

Some are relatively new but you might be able to do without them while you're troubleshooting:

fffffa60`00f32000 fffffa60`00fa1680 mfehidk mfehidk.sys Fri Sep 19 01:06:00 2008 (48D2DED8)

fffffa60`0636f000 fffffa60`06391540 VBoxDrv VBoxDrv.sys Mon Feb 16 18:26:11 2009 (4999A1B3)

And so on... then you check the next dump - if there is one - to see the next crash pattern.

Edit: Solved by updating firmware on the motherboard.
I recently installed Fallout 4 and when playing that game I suddenly get a BSOD with the message saying:

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (intelppm.sys)

This is my first BSOD in Windows 10 and I've had it since launch. My version of Windows 10 is an updated one from Windows 7.

After Fallout 4 provoked this error I have also had it without running the game, but so far only after a restart.

There are some other threads on a similar issue on this site, and others, which gave me some ideas on things to try.

What I have done so far:
Installed latest Windows 10 updates.Installed latest Nvidia Drivers (graphics)Installed Latest Realtek Drivers (sound)Rerolled last update for Windows 10.Reset Windows 10, but I kept the filesRan Windows memory diagnostics tool - no errors.I tried to update Intel drivers by using their tool for it, but it found nothing to update.Checked temperature: Max has been 65 degrees Celsius (149 F)
I am at a loss and I turn to you. Perhaps someone here can understand the output of the attached file?

Thank you very much in advance!

This happened a few days ago and only once. I had a few applications open, nothing too taxing.

I've only ever had one other BSOD, months ago. I can't find where I wrote down what the previous BSOD was, but it was not the same as this most recent BSOD.

Hi,

I got this error twice this week. I was just doing regular work with Visual Studio, Chrome, Spotify, Dropbox, TotalCmd running. I checked MEMORY.DMP with WinDbg on the crash today and it shows chrome.exe as the process where the error happened but I guess it could be hardware error and nothing related to Chrome.

Hi muleee,

Welcome to the 10forums

Did you immediately started to install software after Windows was done installing?

I see many memory access violation crashes so for now I'll focus on the memory explicitly.
How many passes were completed with memtest? What memtest did you run?

What is relevant is that overclocking can cause more problems on an unstable system, if not being the cause which is not what we need.

Hello, after upgrading to windows 10 from windows 8 I have been getting some weird BSOD crashes now and again, sometimes it?s days or weeks in between them and sometimes there are several on the same day.

The error message simply says "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" without no further clues, I suspect a driver somewhere but haven?t been able to find where the problem stems from.
The crashes happen seemingly at random.

Thanks for your time

Hi,

I'm having problems with several BSODs since I bought my gaming pc 6 months ago. It happens everyday and in different and for me random circumstances. Lately it happens a lot when I'm playing The Division but to be honest I almost play it every moment I can.

Sometimes it happen when I'm browsing too.

The BSOD shows me 2 different messages: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

I've tried installing Windows 8.1 instead Windows 10 just in case it was a software issue but when I was setting all my software up it happened again.

I've tried reinstalling Windows 7 and upgrading to 10, reinstalling Windows 10 from 10 within or making an Windows 10 clear instalation too but it keeps happening.

Earlier today I've updated my BIOS version to the latest but it just happened again after doing that too.

I really don't know what to do next, I hope someone here can help me with my issue.

Answer:DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Hi LeCranque,

Welcome to the 10forums.

When was your last BSOD?
According to the logs you haven't had a BSOD in 2 weeks.

FYI: a BSOD, system freeze & shutdown/restart are different crashes and this part of the forum is mostly meant for BSODs.

Answer:KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED during Setup

Hi WaRe,
This is from the MS data base:

The STOP 1E message may occur after the first reboot during Windows Setup, or after Setup is finished. Three possible causes of the problem are:

Lack of disk space for installation.

Third-party video drivers (and the Windows Win32k.sys driver).

System BIOS incompatibilities.

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method below:

Reinstall on another hard disk when disk space is low.

Remove the third-party video driver.

Upgrade the system BIOS.

Here is another suggestion:
0x0000001E KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Outdated drivers, and hardware problems can cause this. If it isn't recently changed drivers, reseat the CPU(s), memory, cache, VRAM, BIOS, and any other chips that may have creeped out of their sockets. Sounds goofy, but it usually works.

I am trying to install windows NT 4.0 on a workstation.

Everytime I get it installed, I install a couple apps (Procom Plus and Eudora), it gives me the error above after I boot up.

I have nothing else on this computer. I have tried it with SP5 and SP6a with the patch, and it still does the same thing!!!!!!

Microsoft site is not help on this issue.

I would greatly appreciate some help on this one!

Thanks,
Chris.

Hello TenForums,
As the title suggests I am getting a BSOD error. Along with the kmode exception error I have also received IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I have had my computer for around 3 months but started getting the errors one week ago while playing DayZ and The Witcher 3. It seems to have gotten worse however because when i start getting the error it then won't let me play Rocket League which is much less graphically intense. I don't generally get the error while doing anything other than playing video games though. It will run fine for hours if all I do is internet browse.

I have ran Furmark GPU test with no problems (temperature maxed at 71c), and have run memtest86 with 0 errors after 10 hours. I have reseated my graphics card and ram and tried running with only 1 stick of ram. I have tried various software fixes (disabling drivers, changing paging file size, disabled extra nvidia files in msconfig) and tried different Nvidia driver versions (using DDU to uninstall). I have updated my motherboard BIOS version to F7 (strange that the dumpfile suggests it is F6). All of these attempted fixes as per the suggestion of the internet people I have researched have not solved my problem.

Other hardware not mentioned: Corsair CX750M PSU, 480 GB SanDisk SSD (OS here)

I have also re-installed Windows 10 to no avail. I ran these games just fine on a slightly slower computer (i5, gtx 660) that had windows 7, with no errors. So now I'm desperate. Any help much appreciated.

I just wanted to share a bit of a problem I've had with MS's generous free upgrade to Win 10 on my Medion laptop. A few weeks ago I received notification that my upgrade was ready for download and the procedure was started but in order to ensure I had important stuff backed up, I clicked its 'postpone' button to a day later and clicked proceed. Instead, the download seemed to start immediately but I assumed it was part of the postpone procedure. No, Win 10 was installing immediately. No problem, I thought. YES, big problem! The install stopped with the above error and went into a loop of starting, error, re-starting. Not being a proper techie, the only thing I could think of doing was switching off and performing a recovery, which I did but Win 7 re-installed after having presumably formatting the drive, as I found I had lost everything when the laptop eventually re-started. Even using recovery software (Recuva/Piriform) was unsuccessful. Everything has gone.

I wonder if anyone has had similar problems? Is it worth attempting another 'upgrade'? And yes, a backup has been made, not that there's anything of note that needs saving now

Thanks for 'listening',

Simon....

Hello.

Please remove Kaspersky Antivirus and use Microsoft Security Essentials for the time being.

Microsoft Security Essentials is recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other internet security software. Malwarebytes is a great combo to MSE. They are free and lightweight.

Also uninstall your existing Antivirus software before you install MSE.

Good and Free system security combination.

   Warning
Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

The dumpfiles are

Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.
BugCheck 1E, {ffffffffc0000005, fffff8012eeed568, 0, ffffffffffffffff}
Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!KiIncrementConcurrencyCount+0 )

The dumpfiles don't blame a specific driver.

Start updating the windows 10 drivers from the supportpage of your laptop http://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/drivers

Also you have a outdated McAfee suite with drivers from 2014.
Please upgrade to a windows 10 compatible version.

Hi, PC was working great and all of a sudden during the last 2 weeks gives me BSOD about 2 times a day.

It has happened in the middle of BF1, Battlefront, using Firefox or just checking my mail.

I'm sure it must be a driver conflict somewhere as there's been lots of updates, but don't know which one.

Thanks for your help
