IE11 and Outlook

Question: IE11 and Outlook

I start my system by logging into msn.com which I use for a homepage. I updated to IE11 last week and since then every time I access Outlook Email I need to sign in again. Can this be changed.

Thanks

Preferred Solution: IE11 and Outlook

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: IE11 and Outlook

Hi,
Which are you referring to outlook.com or Office outlook ?
Open Internet explorer,
Click on the Gear symbol on the top right and click on Internet options,
On the General section make sure the box is not checked to Delete browser history on exit.

Which security suite are you using ?

If all else fails you could reset Internet explorer using this tutorial,

I am having problems on my laptop using things like Cortana across user accounts. The wheel spins and spins when I click on Cortana. I think the problem stems from the fact edge and IE11 cannot load outlook.com or go into things like account settings. It's only this causing the issue, all other sites work apart from these critical MS sites. I've tried changing DNS settings to alternates like google but nothing works to fix this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated? On my other desktop PC I have no issues. All language settings and packs are correctly set as UK. Am at a total loss. I tried a restore point but that was no better. I've had this issue crop up intermittently ever since getting the laptop. Sometimes it works ok but after a while the issue will re-occur without rhyme or reason. I notice under family setitngs 'Can't connect to family settings, your user data may not be upto date' sometimes comes up too. It's as if the laptop is having trouble connecting to MS server some of the time

Answer:Outlook.com unreachable via edge and IE11

The machine seems to be having real problems signing into MS. For example if I launch films and TV I see lower left 'Can't sign in'. I think there is something amiss logging into the MS account causing all the issues. Store is slow and unable to update apps, always an error message after ages of acquiring license. I don't really want to have to try and create a new user acc given everything I have setup/installed

Is there a way of signing out of the MS account and signing back in because something is seriously screwed up

Cheers
Wayne

I have had a lot of problems with ie11 its been months ago problems started and has gotten worse first it was if I clicked on a site in the favorite bar it took three or four clicks to get it to go to the site and when I clicked on outlook mail windows live would come up in address bar but would not go any farther so I deleted windows live and now when I click on outlook mail a blue box with IE symbol in the start and the rest of the box blank will not go any further. Now in the favorite bar I can click on (yahoo mail) and it goes to yahoo mail but when you click on a link in yahoo mail it will not open and also if I searched in bing ( bing is default and I cannot add another search engine) it shows results but I cannot open any links. Microsoft had two major updates in the past month since the last update I still have the same problem with outlook mail blank blue box with ie symbol and now when I try to search with bing I get a blank pink box in the address bar I searched every where for a solution I found one on microsoft forum that said to uninstall ie11 and reinstall ie11 when I uninstalled ie11 it went back to ie9 and down loaded updates for ie9 still had the same problems in ie9 as ie11 so I tried to reinstall ie11 it would not install it said install failed. I researched again and in a microsoft forum it said if you uninstall ie11 it would uninstall files that was only in ie10 and 11 so I installed ie10 and updates but still had the same problems so I went to microsoft... I made IE11 the default browser in Windows 10. When I go to Outlook 2003 and click on a link, it does not show up in IE11. When I go over to IE11, I am looking at the home page. If I x out that tab, I see the note that I clicked on in the screen area. It looks like it tried. I made FireFox the default and the link work. I then made IE11 the default again and used other apps that had links and they all opened pages in IE11. So it seems that it is an Outlook 2003 and IE11 problem. I found a couple of hits on Google where it discusses the problem but it says that I should see an error message when this happens and I do not see one. It also mentions using the Microsoft Fix it tool. When I go to the fixit tool, it states that Office 2003 is no longer supported and mentions the two messages that I do not see. Also, there is no fix-it for windows 10.

I know that Office 2003 is no longer supported but I ran out of Office 2010 licenses so I am running Office 2003 on this laptop. It worked fine under Windows 8.1.

I am wondering if anyone else had this problem or can offer me some guidance as to what to
do.

I have switched to the Mail app where I send the messages to a Gmail account and get the messages using the Mail app and all works but I am not really excited about it.

I have 7 email accounts on our Exchange server for different business and personal roles.  I have always used OWA instead of Outlook to segregate accounts on my desktop.  For quick logins I have been using "Keyboard Express"
Macro program  to insert USER and PASSWORD into OWA.   With some update applied in December 2015, Keyboard Express no long works on most of my Macro hotkeys because the IE hotkeys have taken precedence.  Such as ALT-H and other.
This same think happened to IE11 when I ran the Windows 10 upgrade 2 months ago, so I restored Win7 with a disk image to get rid of Window 10.
Is there a way to assign precedence between a Macro Program and IE11 Hotkeys ?

anyone seen this one?
on booting up 8.1, lenovo z410, the first few attempts to use IE11 from the desktop fail. "cannot open page".
connection troubleshooter produces nothing.

go to APPS > IE and it works fine.

after using chrome and the tile app for awhile, IE11-Desktop will gain coherency and start working.

is there a way to reinstall the desktop side?

this is a clean install with little/nothing loaded on it, about to be deployed for real work so its important.
I've never seen this issue before on 7/8 so kinda lost/bewildered

Answer:IE11 Desktop fails connection. IE11 Tile App succeeds

Maybe can not get that page immediately, try setting blank page for start-up. (about:blank) and than as a start page.

Good Afternoon,

I am running into issues trying to upgrade to IE11. It looks like there are several issues in my CheckSUR Log, but I am not sure how to fix them. I have ran SFC /scannow a couple times and no errors have been identified. I have been having this problem for a couple months now and have just been using Chrome. I have also had several issues with the Aero Effects and Themes as I have to troubleshoot that multiple times a day.
I am receiving error code '3FD' from Windows Update regarding IE11.

Attached is my log.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Answer:IE11 Update/Install Issue - Trying to Upgrade to IE11

hello and welcome skohon now personally I would download IE11 Download Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 from Official Microsoft Download Center - it says on my machine I already have it if yours does the there is something quite wrong.

If it is not on your machine then you save the above to downloads and then do what is in this Install or uninstall Internet Explorer - Windows Help

I have done this myself on odd occasions and it saves you having to muck around with updates.

First you might like to run this though in safe mode if necessary
Disk Check and run the /f and /r switches if necessary.

I'd be really grateful for some help.

I have so many problems with IE11 and a horrible feeling the cause(s) may have been on my laptop for up to a year.

1. HitmanPro has identified a proxy server is used to connect me to the internet, when using IE11.  No matter how many times I 'repair' the error, it returns.  Is there something in the Restore Points?  I've only recently discovered HitmanPro.

2. Webpages containing video cause IE to crash, no matter what the site.  After re-opening the tab 3 or 4 times, the site crashes the browser or vice versa.  This is the error when I visit Youtube:

res://ieframe.dll/acr_error.htm#youtube.com,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CieuGZ7TthE

3. I get these types of errors, when I visit some sites.  If they don't immediately appear on the homepages, they appear when I click a link.  The links don't open, no matter what option I choose.

These are from news.sky.com and I have about a dozen more, if they might reveal something:

5. I can't login to my Outlook account, though it is fine in Chrome.

I'm constantly told to enter the password.

I can't log-in to quite a few sites in IE; sites I used to regularly access with IE.  Could this be a separate problem, owing to the sites having been added to some sort of HOSTS file, if IE has such a thing?

I have a number of .mht files created some time ago (approx 2 years) with IE11 (.mht files are a specific IE format for saving a web page as a single file).
Now IE11 won't work with these files. IE just gives the message "Internet Explorer has stopped working".
But if I load the files onto an old XP machine (with IE7), they load absolutely fine.
I'm guessing that some (security) changes have been made to IE11 that have affected its workings.
I've googled for a solution / ideas, but no joy. Anyone here got any thoughts?

Hi there

This post might be a bit "Geeky" so skip if you aren't interested.

I downloaded a FREE Laptop trial version of SAP (a great learning tool for perhaps one of the largest ERP companies out there) to test and learn a bit about the programming language used by SAP (Called ABAP). The software is FREE and the licence can be automatically renewed for 90 day extensions "ad Infinitum" so this is in NO way "Mickey Mouse" software.

Since some independent consultants who have any knowledge at all of this stuff can currently earn anything from 700 - 2,000 EUR a day it seems a good platform to do a bit of Home training on.

The download (ABAP 7.5 Netweaver) can only run on a Linux Host but it installs essentiallly with "1-click"

SAP Development Tools

Now you install the front end (or the GUI --SAPGUI) on a Windows system --no problem there either.

problem is when I use any application that requires launching the web browser - I get Certificate error --not a problem as you can skip that although strange that it regards my local intranet - i.e the Linux system where I've hosted the SAP system as having a potential security problem with the certificate.

OK you can click go to website -- no problem.

Windows 10 just pops a login screen but won't do anything -- with a message in the status line "Javascriptvoid(0)"
Windows 7 works fine

I'm trying to retire my W7 VM - so any idea how to enable the javascr... Read more

2. I have two muti select boxes like ACCOUNTS and FUCNTIONS In one.jsp. These two multi select boxes are getting loaded from two.jsp by using the frame like below.
var lsCombo = parent.MainFrame.document.dataframe.accountSelectBoxName.options;

var lsCombo = parent.MainFrame.document.dataframe.fucntionSelectBoxName.options;

fucntionSelectBoxName.options[0].value - Now I am able to retreive the value
accountSelectBoxName.options[0].value - Now I can't retreive the value and getting error like permission denied.

Visio files are received as attachments in Outlook 2016. Visio Viewer 2016 and IE11 are also installed on Windows 10 (1607).
Previewing the Visio file (VSD in this case) is successful. However, when you try to open the Visio file, IE11 attempts to open it (as expected) but only displays a blank page.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this issue?   Other articles suggest that Visio Viewer 2016 does not support IE11.

I have posted this question to the link under Microsoft Community and after 2 or 3 replies from them (with no solution) they recommended that I ask the TechNet community for help.
My problem is that my Laptop running Win7 Home Premium/IE11 (with all of the latest Updates), with 6GB of RAM keeps locking up after I have had IE11 open for more than 5 or 10 minutes. The only way I can continue on is to go to my Task Manager and "End
Process" and Start all over again, other wise I have seen my CPU usage at 87% and Memory at 500,000k+ and boom I can no longer navigate.
This happens with only Outlook email open or just a local web page, for instance right now I am typing this "question" and the only other site I am connected to is My Email and this site to send this Help Request and my Task Manger
says iexplore.exe*32 = "355,788 K" under the Memory listing. If I am connected to a Web page that has graphics or something running automatically I'm in the 800,000 K "Range" in less than 5 minutes and after about 10 I'm locked
up.
I have run a Virus scan with Avast AV-v.17.8.2318(latest signatures), Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware and even Rogue Killer but the problem still exist. I have even removed IE11 and used Chrome and Opera to no avail. I have also used "IE with no Add-Ons"

Question: IE11 annoyance

Hello all. New to this forum. I ran a search and didn't find my particular problem so I started this new thread. I am also new to Windows 8.1. Let me first say, I'm not a fan of the new metro style anything so I have basically tried to default my system to try to be as Windows 7 like as possible. I use the desktop programs exclusively and consider the "apps" version of the programs to be a waste of space. I'll wait til update 2 hits before I make my decision regarding launcher programs or just downgrading back to 7.

So, the problem I have with IE11 are a few actually.

Firstly, is there any way to disable the totally annoying popup at the bottom of the screen. It pops up when downloading, or when a screen is in compatibility mode, or when something or other about the page is deemed so important that it needs to interrupt the operator. Its quite annoying, especially when downloading large quantities of files. I have disabled the pop up after each download and it more or less behaves ok but occasionally it will pop up out of nowhere. Very annoying

Second, I have noticed that when I have IE11 doing something in the background, it will randomly popup to remind me that its there. For instance, I was downloading a couple files and I pushed IE11 to the back. I had file explorer open because I was moving family photos of the hard drive to external storage. I had just selected all the files I wanted in a particular folder and whamo, IE11 popped back up to the front. No r... Read more

edge seems massively dumbed down, very bare options configuration compared to IE11.

From what I can see all of the following are missing.

No options to toggle tls 1.1 1.0 1.2 etc.
No options to toggle gpu acceleration
No options to set file cache location (I like to use ram disk)
No security zones
No tracking protection lists
No addons
No advanced cookie settings
No per domain settings
No options to adjust certificate verification
No options to adjust UTF-8 and IDN
No toggle for crash protection
No tab options

Basically edge feels like a mobile orientated app, as it uses the "modern" interface.

Is there a reason to use edge instead of IE11? aside from future proofing as I am assuming IE11 at some point will be obsoleted by Microsoft.

Answer:is it me or is ie11 better than edge?

Edge is still very early in it's development cycle.. give it time and it will get much better.

Oh and I'm using it right now to post here and I like it.. very fast and clean.

Question: IE11 Crashes

For a variety of reasons I switched from Firefox to IE11 four or five days ago.

I get frequent IE crashes when I search from the address bar (my default search engine is google); I do not crash from google.com searches. I've read elsewhere that google and IE don't play together very well.

Yesterday & today I got crashes at other sites as well, including the bing toolbar download page. I would think that IE and bing would be able to play together a bit better than google!

Does anyone know a fix for this or is it just one of those facts of life? Should I revert to IE 10? If so, any tricks to doing that?

i have had problems with it freezing up in the past, so the best solution i found was to downgrade to IE10 its works faster and more effieient

Windows and IE are [still] deeply intertwined.
"There are many components that constitute the [IE] browser. Most of the components are part of the operating system..."
Applications other than Microsoft's IE can, and do, call on those components to display HTML or execute scripts. "If you aren't upgraded to the current version of IE, you won't be able to apply the current security updates. This could result in some Windows components not being serviced..."
http://www.computerworld.com/article/3021824/web-browsers/microsoft-upgrade-to-ie11-even-if-you-dump-our-browser.html
Bottom line:   Update to IE11 (on systems which allow it; e.g., Windows 7) even if you "dump" it in favor of Firefox, Palemoon, Chrome, Opera [or some other alternative browser].

A few months ago I wrote about problems with my IE11 and was told to revert to IE10 because IE11 was not 100% stable yet. So I have been using IE10 since then. There is one particular site (CBC News - Latest Canada, World, Entertainment and Business News) that insists on wanting to install Adobe Flashruntime every time I visit it with IE10 and I was wondering whether the need for IE11 had anything to do with it. I get no such message when I visit the same site with Chrome or Firefox.

I was wondering whether it is relatively safe to reinstall IE11 now; has it been fixed?

Answer:IE11 - to install or not

Hi,
Probably just your flash player settings or global setting,
You can make sure your at least using the current version of flash,
13.0.0.182

But ie11 is working quite a bit better,
But as always delete any cache flash has built up,
This is a privacy minded tutorial but will show you where to look for the settings in flash,

Question: IE11 Menu Bar

Hello everyone,I'm probably missing or overlooking something here but for some reason, I cannot get the menu bar to show up in IE11 (the toolbar with File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, and Help). I know to show it, it's possible to right-click beside the tabs in IE11 and click "Menu Bar" to show it but when I right-click, it doesn't show any toolbars to show. I also know the little trick to temporarily show the toolbar by opening the Start menu, typing in the textbox "internet explorer" and holding Alt and clicking the internet explorer icon to launch it (which also does not work). It seems no matter what I do, I cannot get the toolbar to appear. I have the Favorites bar shown (which I could ONLY get it to show by adding a site to the bar). Even now with the Favorites bar showing, I have no way of removing the Favorites bar. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Greatly appreciated! Windows 7 32-bitInternet Explorer 11Edit: Moved topic from All Other Applications to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Answer:IE11 Menu Bar

I was successful once or twice by pulling a middle school play out of the playbook; I copied.  Using another computer with great working IE, found all the directories involved with IE, copied the directories onto external media 'cause I was booted in Safe Mode. moved the external media from computer w/great-working IE to computer with not-good IE, and copied etal from ext media onto Safe Mode booted compute. Now, just before all that copying, I ran windows repair (all in one) along with a couple of utilities that reRegister IE files.  After all that copying, I ran the WR(AiO) [Safe Mode with Networking] again.  Sometimes that works.  Sometimes, a rollback is also needed.

Hello, dear friends. I have a most irritating issue.
When I open a .pdf file in IE11 I can't seem to back out of it. There is no other way, but to close the tab and search again.
I use FF and Chrome as well, but they do not seem to have the issue since they have their own readers integrated.

Answer:IE11 and backing out from .pdf

I noticed it too, if you mean it's like when you open a link on a page, or a news article. May it sandboxes the pdf out of safety reasons, they are known vector of attack, even Google warn against downloading them and prefers you use their online reader.

Question: IE11 Freezes

Hi
I'm running Windows 10 and when I use IE11 as the browser, sometimes after a short period of time, the page freezes and gives a "message "Windows is not responding"

Windows 10 is fully up to date and this issue doesn't happen when I use "Edge , Chrome or Firefox". I like IE 11 and don't want to use the other browsers. I have reset IE 11, makes no difference.
Hopefully someone can help with a solution.

Answer:IE11 Freezes

- Check the Event Log and post error code. You may also google the error code for more info.

- Sometimes this is an issue with internet connection. But since other browsers, work maybe not.
Still may want to troubleshoot your connection and flush dns

I have windows 7 x64 bit OS and 16GB ram. I used Ie8 before and it printed without any issues on either printer. When I upgraded to IE9 or IE10, I get an error when trying to print - "An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line : 2053
Char: 1 Error : Invalid procedure call or argument.
Code: 0 URL: res/ieframe.dll/preview.js.:"

Yet when going from IE8 to IE11, I can not print on either printer of HP Laserrjet1015 and HP 8600 pro. I don't get any error message. I have the latest printer drivers for both printers and the latest video drivers as well. I have tried a lot of techniques and nothing seems to have fixed the printing issue on IE11.

This is what I have done:

I have checked that the folder of the temp folder has the folder "Low" and its there, tried turning off protected mode, running IE11 as admin, ran IE 11 without any add ons, cleaned out temp files, and still not able to print.

I just tried this technique of Click Start

, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
Type following command and press ENTER:ICACLS "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\Low" /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low
Restart the computer.
Print or print preview a Web page in Internet Explorer.
and nothing worked either.

Question: Ie11 complaints

Updated my phone to cyan and I found ie11 has no option to open link in new tab which was very helpful in ie10. Also I found with exit of browser all the tabs are closed without actually closing the tabs. Also the tab switching is not smooth. I must say that ie11 should add the open link in new tab feature which is really helpful while going to the links through email, twitter etc.

Okay I have tried to search for an answer to this problem without any luck. There are several similar issues but nothing that matches what I am seeing. The computer was reported to be running slow so I logged into the local administrator to have a look.
It didn't seem to be all that slow to me, until I tried to use IE11. The browser hadn't been used in this profile before so I got the first launch experience. I answered the prompts and waited for IE to do it's thing, which it appeared to do without any problem.
A second tab opened with the typical first launch options but then things got weird. The screen started flashing between panes and it looked like from tab to tab. I couldn't do anything so I closed IE in the hopes that it was a fluke and would go away. When
I opened IE again everything seemed good for about 5 to 10 seconds, but then a second tab popped up all by itself. This is important, I did not do anything to cause the tab to open, it did it all by itself! There was some flashing between screens and I don't
really know if I would have been able to brows or not. I tried closing the extra tab and at first I could not, but then it did close. A few seconds latter it opened right back up again. I updated MacAfee and ran a full scan but found nothing. Then
I tried to install Ad Aware but it failed. I may have to simply re-image this machine but it is possible that I may have several other machines with this same problem and I'd like to know if there i... Read more

Question: Turning Off IE11

I installed Google Chrome and made it my default browser.
Everything worked fine.
I decided to switch of IE11 in "Control Panel > Programs >Programs & Features > Turn Windows features on or off" as I don't use it.
Then all hyperlinks in all my Office 2010 documents of all types failed to open with the error message: "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."
I tried various fixes I read about but nothing worked.
In frustration I switched IE11 back on again as it was its deactivation which appeared to cause the problem.
Everything was then immediately back to normal and Google Chrome was still set as my default browser!

So is there any point in switching off IE11 when one does not use it? I am not sure if there are any advantages in doing so, but clearly a big disadvantage for me.

Someone may have referenced this before, but search didn't show anything, so here's the question, since win 10 was released, has anyone figured out why ie11 on both vista and win7 systems that are running ie10/11, does the browser flip in and out of black screen when starting - or on some sites you have to wait until it refreshes again before scrolling down/becoming stable to work with, it's not confined to just one pc but this laptop, my main desktop and the desktop at work, 1 & 3 run vista, 2 is win 7.

thanks for any insights

Question: IE11 - grrrrrr!

I opened a new tab in IE11 (Win 7 Pro, 32-bit) today by clicking the little New Tab button next to the title of the current tab.
Surprise, surprise... The new tab opened full of links to all kinds of news, weather (including my exact location), and other unnecessary you-know-what.  I clicked the link to revert to the old format which only shows sites I've recently visited.
But then I accidentally clicked some link to return to the stupid new format and now I can't find a way to revert to the old format again. The gear button opens a box that only lets me turn off certain things but doesn't offer an option to get rid of all that "stuff".
Anybody know how to reset this again?
And when the heck is MS going to stop changing our system setup without asking permission in the first place?  And I also can't find a way to turn off the location. I don't want MS or anybody else to be tracking me like this.

Answer:IE11 - grrrrrr!

Update...
If anybody else has this problem, the fix is here.
Still doesn't give MS the right to change things without permission. I wonder if it's still secretly downloading all that junk in the background and hogging bandwidth. And why did they hide this option instead of putting it right on the page with the (limited) number of options that can be changed.
Time for FF..??

We've just bought a new computer installed with Win8.1 and IE11 but there are no tool bars on Internet Explorer - the menu bar which usually says 'File Edit View etc.', no search window either - just an url window.
We've tried F11 and pressing the Alt key which, I understand is necessary on Win 7 but still the toolbars don't appear. IE11 is useless to us as it stands at the moment so we've installed Firefox but I was wondering whether anyone knows how to sort out IE.

Answer:No toolbars on IE11 Win 8.1

ChrisAnnSen, it sounds like you're using the newfangled Windows 8 "app" version of IE. To give you access to the more familiar "desktop" version, do this:
On the Windows 8 Start Screen (with all the big coloured tiles) right-click the Internet Explorer one then click on the "Pin to Taskbar" option at the bottom of the screen. Switch to the Windows Desktop and you'll see a big blue E icon on the Taskbar and that'll launch the version of IE you want.

IE 11 is the browser that currently frustrates me the least (doesn't 'not responding' that often)

Firefox is unusable: always having unresponsive script error causes it to hang forever, & cumsumes between 358-498 MB RAM (upgrade is not an option, this is a 3GB RAM Work laptop)

Comodo Icedragon is just as unusable: unresponsive script error happens less often, but cumsumes just as much RAM. Worse: trying to go to Any websites='cannot find server'

So anyone knows a better non-chromium browser? (chromium's multi-process architecture eats more RAM than firefox)

Answer:So is ie11 the best browser now?

I have IE11 installed, but rarely used.

IE11 keeps crashing on my laptop running WIN 10. This happens almost daily, sometimes twice daily. I don't recall having this issue with WIN 8. Is there something in WIN 10 that causes this or is it perhaps caused by another app? I've considered switching to a different browser, like Firefox, but I have heard negatives about those as well. Any advice?

Unless IE 11 is causing havoc in your computer, which isn't in your case, there is absolutely no point in turning it off.
Just leave it alone and don't use it.
There will be no conflicts between your Chrome and IE11. They will co-exist without issues.

I recently updated a workstation to IE11 as one of our programs requires IE 10 or above to work properly. that is fine.
the problem now is that we have a secondary link that was using IE6 and it runs fine in IE6, after my upgrade to IE11 it does NOT load the page properly.. missing bottom page fields.
I copy and compare all active settings, trusted sites settings... etc.
What else can I do?

Question: Error: 5.3.4. IE11

Hi all,
I have just tried to send two small emails from my home, private machine/account, to two separate people. One is on Hotmail, and one is on Live.co.uk.
The error message said that they - Outlook (although this account is Hotmail) have noticed some strange activity on my account, & temporarily blocked my account !
They want me to give them my mobile number - BUT I DON'T WANT TO !
I already get fed up with all & sundry sending me bits of carp at every hour of the day, that usually serves no purpose at all, apart from advertising products, services etc.
I have several accounts with MS-Hotmail & Outlook,,,,, so the last thing I want, is them filling my text messages with junk.
Can I get around this ?
Can I actually contact the department that does this ?
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope you can help
& A Happy New Year to you all.

Hi Guys & Gals,
I upgraded to IE11 a couple of days ago.
Now, when I try to revise items in E.Bay, or write descriptions for new listings,,,, I don’t get the Format Ribbon, or the Standard/HTML tab, & the description is in html code.
I’ve been on to e.bay and they talked me into deleting temp files (I do regularly) & Cookies – all to no avail.
Things work in Firefox (though a lot slower) so I guess its down to IE11.
Everything worked normally in IE10.
As of yet, I haven’t noticed any other anomalies – but that’s not to say they aren’t there.
Any ideas how to get over this please ?

Question: Locking down IE11

Hi All,

Thank you in advance for reading my post. I am having trouble locking down IE11 on Win7 Pro. Let me start off with my goal. I am trying to stop the users on stand alone machines (No AD) from typing URL?s into both the IE?s ?Address bar? and the Start Menu?s
?Search/Run? box and going to their websites of choice while still giving them the functionality of Tabbed Browsing. I have created Links to allow them to go where they need to go.

I also have a Web Proxy server in play, but due to the nature and the way some websites are built, I can?t be too restrictive with it, otherwise some of the websites I do need to go to won?t load or function correctly as they themselves call upon other websites
to work.

Of all the research and online searching I?ve done, I found the following registry entries to help me in my quest:

I can elect to "Add to favourites" or "Add to Favourites bar". Many of the URLs I have added to either of them don't show up anywhere. I have had to search History in order to return to a viewed site

How, exactly, is "Favourites" supposed to work?

Where can I see Favourites rather than the Favourites bar?

Answer:Favourites in IE11

They are in the Favorite folder under your profile. Pull up help in Internet explorer and type in "Bookmarks" or "Favorites"

Pretty simple stuff.

Has anyone given IE11 a go? I just downloaded the developer Preview but haven't installed it yet. May do so this weekend.

Thoughts???

Thanks

Answer:Anybody playing with IE11 yet?

I always wait for the final release,
Then install it on only one computer to see what it's like,
Preview are okay but are still beta so unless you have a second system to test it with you should also wait for the final release through the Windows update system,
Cheers.

I'm trying to use web crypto API with IE11 and encrypt/decrypt using AES-256-GCM. Encryption works fine, but decryption with the same parameters fails, without any advice what is wrong:
// key: 32 bytes
// iv: 12 bytes
// auth: 16 bytes
// data: tried 16-10000 bytes; result of previous encrypt
function decrypt(key, iv, auth, data, cb) {
var decryptOp = window.msCrypto.subtle.decrypt({
name: "AES-GCM",
iv: iv,
additionalData: auth,
tagLength: 128
}, key, data);

decryptOp.onerror = function(ev) {
cb(ev);
};

decryptOp.oncomplete = function(ev) {
var dec = ev.target.result;
cb(null, dec);
};
}
I know that IE11 has an older version of the web crypto API spec. Encryption/decryption with other browsers (tested Chrome and Firefox) with same parameters works. I can't find any examples for AES-GCM decryption with IE11 and the API documentation on https://msdn.microsoft.com/de-de/library/dn302338(v=vs.85).aspx
is not detailed enough. If I use AES-CBC I can successfully encrypt/decrypt. What is wrong with AES-GCM?
Did anyone try AES-GCM with web crypto on IE11?

After installing a new hard drive in my friends Dell computer everything worked fine till IE updated to IE11. Once it restarted windows would not recognize the password. It recognized it multiple times before the upgrade.

Answer:win 7 update to IE11

What's the model name and model number of that Dell computer?

What's the "service tag" number and/or "express service code" number on it?

How was Windows 7 installed in the new hard drive?

Answer:IE10 over IE11

You cannot re-install IE10 unless you are using IE9, you just need to uninstall IE11 and it will revert back to IE10.

This guide is for IE10, but all the instructions are the same, just substitute IE11 for IE10 in the instructions and make sure you follow the part showing you how to hide the update or it will get re-installed.

Please follow this guide: How to install or uninstall IE10 in Windows 7

I am running Windows 7 64-bit and am having the following issues with an application. The application (Dish Anywhere) says it can run only in the Internet Explorer 32-bit environment. Dish support has been of no help. I'm hoping somebody out there has run across this problem and has a good answer.

i am trying to do a reset of IE11 and when I clicked the reset button and checked delete personal settings and the click reset, I restarted my computer and when I clicked on Internet Explorer after it came back up and went to facebook, it showed me still being logged in, how should I go about fixing this problem

Answer:IE11, not resetting

Do you remember seeing four green checkmarks after reset ?

Boot or shut down is usually not necessary but shouldn't hurt anything.
After all of your questions I'm starting to believe you have a (Webroot Secure Anywhere) issue,
I read and posted to a person where this security was flagging Windows snipping tool as a security risk and blocking it's operation.

Question: IE11 and Javascipt

Recently I cannot activate javascript in Windows 8.1 Internet Explorer 11. It is fine in Firefox & other browsers.
I have "Enable active scripting" ticked, and tried turning it off and on again.
I have used "Windows Features" to end and reinstall IE11 (Being Windows 8.1, I cant uninstall & re-install).
I have used "Restore Advanced settings" in Internet options.
I have use "Tweaking.com" to repair it.
All to no avail! I can open Google and most webpages, but anything that uses Javascript just does not work.

I have verified this with whatismybrowser.com javascript test, it says I have no Javascript.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Question: windows 7 and IE11

I have windows 7 and did an upgrade to IE 11I have had problems with internet access sinceshould I go back to IE6 or other version, and how do I do that?

Answer:windows 7 and IE11

I have heard that some folk have issues with IE11 on Windows 7.Firstly try IE Reset:IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset button. If that's no better you can remove IE11 from "Control Panel > Programs and Features". If you can't see it make sure all MS Updates are set to be showing. If you uninstall IE11 it should revert back to the previous IE version.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

I very much doubt that IE11 will be compatible with Windows 7. It will be for Windows 8 and later only.

Question: IE11 Version

Myself and several other users in my environment seem to be stuck on IE11 11.0.9600.16428CO while multiple other users are on a more recent iteration of IE11. It is important that we have the latest IE for testing of web apps. I attempted to install KB3148198
which I thought would remedy the situation however I am getting a message stating that the update is not applicable to my computer. Does anyone else know how to force IE to upgrade to a different version?

Does IE11 Metro touch version have all the same issues on both X86 and ARM tablets.
The reason I ask is I use IE Metro touch version no external KB more than any other app and most of the sites I visit on a daily visit all have some kind of compatibility issues, search forms, pull sown menus, etc.
I am currently running a Lumina 2520 which I really like yet I am not sure if RT is the underlying problem.
I am not interested in running desktop apps as they are designed to be used with a real KB and mouse/trackpad.
If I want that experience I will use my Windows 7 tablet

Answer:IE11 Metro RT vs IE11 Metro X86

The Metro version of Internet Explorer on Windows RT/ARM devices is pretty much a carbon copy of the Metro version you'll find on x86 and x64, full blown Windows devices. Pretty much any "metro" app you'll find in the Windows 8 Marketplace or that comes preinstalled is exactly the same on every device, no matter what core architecture it utilizes.
As for compatibility issues, Metro IE 11 renders webpages almost exactly the same as desktop IE 11. If your webpages look fine on that, they'll look fine on Metro IE. And while IE on Windows Phone and Windows 8 are very similar, they still render things a bit differently (mobile device, ya know). So take a look at you webpages on IE 11 first, Windows Phone isn't the best measuring stick for that.

have windows 7 x64 bit OS and 16GB ram. I used Ie8 before and it printed
without any issues on either printer. When I upgraded to IE9 or IE10, I get an
error when trying to print - "An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line : 2053
Char: 1 Error : Invalid procedure call or argument.
Code: 0
URL: res/ieframe.dll/preview.js.:"

Yet when going from IE8 to IE11, I can
not print on either printer of HP Laserrjet1015 and HP 8600 pro. I don't get any
error message. I have the latest printer drivers for both printers and the
latest video drivers as well. I have tried a lot of techniques and nothing seems
to have fixed the printing issue on IE11.

This is what I have done:

I have checked that the folder of the temp folder has the folder
"Low" and its there, tried turning off protected mode, running IE11 as admin,
ran IE 11 without any add ons, cleaned out temp files, and still not able to
print.

I just tried this technique of

Click Start
Collapse this imageExpand this image
,
click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as
administrator.
Type following command and press ENTER:ICACLS
"%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\Low" /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low
Restart the computer.
Print or print preview a Web page in Internet Explorer.
and nothing worked either.

I have also tried turning of Turn off Smooth Scrolling from tools and advanced

Answer:Not able to print anything from IE11

See here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973479
There's automated Fixit tools you can run for several of the stages so use those.

Reinstalling the printer may also help and it looks like the driver is available through Windows Update: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/si...x.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken
Just remove the printer from the Devices & Printers section and unplug the printer and plug it back in to reinstall it.

Question: IE11 and gadgets

I uninstalled IE11 because it ruined my gadgets. IE10 is no option because it blows up in my system. So I am back to IE9 which is starting to be inconvenient because many sites don't support it any more.

My question is whether anybody found gadgets that work with IE11. The one I really need is the CPU meter. I can live without the analog clock and the weather gadget.

Answer:IE11 and gadgets

I've seen Greg recommend 8GadgetPack - Gadgets for Windows 8 / 8.1
