How to save emails with recipient and date sent details.

Question: How to save emails with recipient and date sent details.

I work in a job where I have to constantly save emails to various files on the system. Every time I save a file I have to manually type in who the email was from/to and the date & time into the name of the email files. As you can imagine this is pretty tedious.

So my question is, is there a way of saving the email to a file where it automatically populates recipient details and time & date.

If you can help me do this then you will save hrs of my day and make me a happy man.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: How to save emails with recipient and date sent details.

joezepher, welcome to the windows 7 forum.

One way that could work is to define a print to file printer and then select that printer as the default printer in your email program. Most times when I print a message it prints the whole thing including all the heading.

Just a thought.

Hi
I am using Outlook 2007 and i keep about 2 years of all sent emails in the Sent emails folder.

The automatic archive for this folder are set so that any emails older than 2 years, are moved to the archive folder.

A number of months ago (been too busy to tackle this until now and can't remember if it started before i moved to Windows 7 or after) i noticed that many emails in my Sent folder have blank headers. By that i mean the following are blank Sent: Date and the To: Recipient's name

These emails appear to be all older than 4 months... but i am only guessing this based on looking at the content of the email and trying to remember when i sent them.

When i click on the email the content looks ok for the first few lines... and then the rest of the content seems to be chopped.

I have only seen this in the Sent folder, although i have many other large folders.
Many emails in my Sent folder appear fine and look normal.

Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be, or how it was caused, or how it could be fixed?

I have done many things over the past year including
? Moving from XP to Windows 7
? Searching for all emails greater than 3 Mb and deleting them
? After deleting the large emails, i resized the pst files so they became smaller

I have also seen a possibly unrelated problem whereby the Auto Archive fails with an error unable to open the Archive Pst file. I believe this has been ... Read more

I like to save my emails under the name of the person I send them to/receive them from. Unfortunately, they save randomly within the folder. Is it possible to make them save in time and date order irrespective of what is written in the subject line?

Answer:How save emails according to date and time?

If you are using Outlook or Outlook express just click on the heading bar at the top of the list 'from' or 'to' and it will list them in order.

In macro i have put plain text in body due to which there is no identification to whom it has been sent or to whom it has been addressed.

What is required, which i am unable to get it in this forum.

Expected result: i want mail body to be like this whenever macro is run:
Currently i am unable to put code for below example

Dear <Name of the person handling project>
Your Project <Name> is due on < uat due date> and needs attention.
Kindly ignore if already done and update in sheet.
Data to be captured by macro:
Project name you will get in column D i.e. description
Person handling project in column P
uat due date mentioned in column I

Please help.. thanks in advance.

Answer:Email to recipient with details in Mail Body using macro

Hi,
Please try the attached, see how it works for you in, note that the email will be generated as soon as you open the workbook.

Also note:

1) I am using column N to look for "Send Reminder" in order to generate the emails, this is because you have done the hard work will the formula so don't really need to dynamically change and check the dates with code.

2) If you want the emails to be sent automatically without being displayed, you can change .display with .send

Let us know how this works for you.

User reported several emails she has written have not been sent to several clients. I told her to attach a 'Request a delivery receipt for this message' to make sure the Exchange server is able to send it out--at least get up to that point of the problem. She also has 'Request a read receipt for this message'. It happened once with internal email and now it has affected communication with clients outside the company.
For more details, this user has another mailbox--responsible for data coming in and replying as well. I thought perhaps it was due to having more than one mailbox, but after checking both Sent Items folders for the missing emails--there was no copy/record of it in there. Second, checked the Exchange Server 2003 for date/subject/recipient search--it's like it didn't even send out to begin with. Although it doesn't help that the exchange server isn't set to store more that a weeks worth of logs.

As much as I would like to accuse the user of being crazy, it wasn't the case. So I am all out of ideas...any suggestions.

Other specs...Email is being sent through Outlook 2003 sp 2/XP Pro sp 2

I am using Outlook 2007. I send many emails on the same sublect to a number of different recipients. I use a colour to categorize the subject but is there anyway that I can identify the recipient in "Sent" emails. I could add an identifier to the heading but am I missing something here?

Any help appreciated.

Hi,
I would be grateful for some advise please. I am attenmpting to send emails from sites on Internet Explorer. I click on file, then send via "Page by email" The blue edge box for Outlook Express comes up and I type in the recipient's email address and click "send". The green bar then indicates that the message is going to be sent but just before the bar reaches the end it flashes up "disconnecting" and then "not connected"

I am using Windows XP and in the Internet Options section under programmes and email.
I have Outlook Express selected with the other options being Hotmail and MSN Explorer.
Please could you advise me what the problem is as the messages are not being sent. ie should I have MSN messanger selected instead of Outlook Express ( which I never use, I have a hotmail email account. I should also mention that it is the email address that I have with my ISP that is shown in the box with the green line.
I hope all this makes sense!

i just found out this is happening on outlook express6:
say i save my boss's email address in my address book. i am a lazy person so i enter "boss" for his firstname. Then I email my boss. When he receive my email, he sees "To: boss".

If I happen to save it as assh*le or something offensive then the recipient will actually see what I save on my address book. This is dangerous!! Is there a way to prevent the recipient from seeing what I save on my address book?

-Mike

Answer:outlook recipient sees what i save

You didn't actually enter "assh*le" for your boss's entry by any chance did you.
You should be warned: This can result in the boss becoming very irrational.

I recently upgraded to Dsl. I'm on IE6, Xp home. This is a recent development and who I'm attempting to send to has made no recent changes but has restored to an earlier time to ensure no problem at his end to no avail. Recipient does not have me blocked. Recipient receives email from all others and not from me no matter if I send from my email or through other emails (even when I send from another email address from my website). I receive his emails and also don't reach him when I reply instead of originating. My sent email is not returned as undeliverable. He also has Xp home, IE6 and outlook express.

We're lost. Relevant thoughts appreciated.

Answer:Outlook Exp. 1 recipient not receiving emails.

Your emails get delivered to others without a problem?

Have the person check the blocked sender list again, just to be sure.
Check message rules that might block you.

Then have them temporarily disable: firewall, anti-virus and any popup blockers. Arrange to send an email when they are disabled and see if received.

I send out quite a few emails and just recently have added two new customers to my contact list. They both have Ticali and when received my emails are blank with no attachment. They both use the same PC by the way.No one else has a problem with my emails, so I think the problem is either with their setup or with Tiscali. To get around this at the moment, I send the email to another contact, who like me uses BT Internet so the problem is not BT.Any suggestions?

Answer:Blank Emails Received by recipient

If it`s any help this problem also occurs with some attachments sent out with e-mails from ntlworld.com to some other ISP recipients. A number of us on various different ISPs recently received an e-mail sent with an attachment by one of our number who is with ntlworld.com. Some of us received the attachment but for others it was stripped somewhere en-route. We all checked it was not our security removing it by passing it from others who received it complete to those who didn`t and there was no problem other than for those sent from ntlworld.com accounts. We have no idea of the cause and have decided it is one of the great mysteries of the internet. To overcome the problem we now avoid attachments as much as possible and include all text in the body of the message. Where they are absolutely necessary attachments are forwarded through known, `good` routes. Painful but it works.

I use att yahoo.com for email. Lately my replies to emails sent to me are coming back to the sender in the Greek language. It seems to be a perfect translation of the english to greek. I type it at my end and it comes out in english, but the recipient sees the greek. Apple computers seem not to be affected, except when they push the "print" icon on their mail page.  If they use File-Print function it works ok.  I checked Encoding and my mail is using Automatic-default.  My default print is New Times Roman.

Answer:My replies to emails are being seen by recipient as written in Greek language

This has to be a setting on the recepients side mate. Your computer cannot translate perfect English to Greek. It's impossible.

I am Secretary to a small bowling club and I complete the draws for knockout competitions by using Excel spread sheets. When I email these Excel (xlr) files to members as attachments, some can open them and some can not. Is there anything I could be doing to enable these non-receivers to open the files? Is there anything these recipients could do to remedy the situation at their end?

Answer:Excel Files Attachments to emails - cannot be opened by recipient

Are you saving the XL file as a .xlsx format which is the default for Excel 2007 onwards.
Some of your members may be running earlier versions which can not open these files. There is a Microsoft conversion add on but the easiest way to cure this is for you to save the files in .xls format which you can select in the lower box when saving the file. You can also select .xls as the default format for all new XL files by selecting this in the Options. All versions of XL can open .xls files so you lose nothing unless you are using some of the more special faciliies of an xlsx format.

I've got a really wierd (but really serious) problem.

I've recently realised that a lot of emails i'm sending out to multiple recipients AREN'T ARRIVING.

emails have been sent to numerous different email addresses on differnt domains, but it appears that each time, the email only arrives to one recipient (the last address inserted on the email). I've tested this using OE6 and Webmail with the same result each time.

I know that Freeparking.co.uk have a limit of 20 recipients per email - but i have tried it with only 4 or 5 recipients and still the same thing happens (i.e it only arrives to one recipient!!!)

My usual set up is using OE6, my ISP is blueyonder and my email is forwarded through click here for my own domain (click here).

HAS ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS?????

cheers

Wilf

Hey guys,
I have a question about coding and setting an excel file to send emails. I am using an excel file to track maintenance work orders and I would like to get an email each day for each work order that is requested to be finished on that days date. I have attached the excel file I am using, and the column that is important is C, "Date Needed" - If that date is today's date, the cell turns red and I would also like to get email notification about it. A separate email for each cell that matches today's date.

Also, if possible, I would like for it to look at all the sheets, not just the current month's sheet. For example, if a work order was filed in July but wasn't needed until September, I would still like to get the email reminding me that it needs to be finished on xx date in September.

I have attached the excel file I want to use.

I have searched all over this forum and others and have found many posts similar to this, but I am not a great manipulator of code, so I cannot get any of the other solutions to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi. Have a look here click here it gives eMail settings for blueyonder email addresses.
I would delete the blueyonder account and set it up again from scratch, having saved any important emails. Carefully check port numbers as you set up the account.

Apologies for asking this again - thought I'd cracked it. When I go to the users area, despite asking every time for it to remember my details, it still won't. Cookies are not discabled. If I leave the fields blank and press the login, the next screen has my details which I can then log in on.Leaving for work now, but will check responses am Sun.

Answer:Save details for this site

Yes, you have to log in on every new visit to the site. I think I can see what you are doing wrong. When the site first comes up on screen, you are trying to go straight to help room, or consumerwatch, this won't work.First you need to log in then go to the forum of your choice.Starting from the beginning, type in the web site address or select from favourites, when page appears, enter your login and password details, tick the box, "Remember my details", log in and then on your next visit, you will see your details saved for you, click on "log in" and then help/consumerwatch. I have searched the web. Maybe it can't be done.

I'm on XP Pro SP2.
I use "Details" view as my default in Windows Explorer, and would love to have that be the default view for all my File Open and File Save dialogs, but they always default to "List" view < grrrrrrr >.

Some MS apps can be forced to keep Details view *for that session only* by setting to Details and holding down the CTRL key while processing the first file, but after re-opening the app, I'm back to List view.

Whoever at Microsoft made the executive decision to make List the default needs to have itching powder sprinkled in his shorts.

I'm hoping that with all the combined knowledge on this forum, someone has a solution.

Thanks -

I have Googled unsuccessfully.

I'm on XP Pro SP2.
I use "Details" view as my default in Windows Explorer, and want that to be the default view for all my application File Open and File Save dialogs, but they always default to "List" view .

Some Microsoft apps can be forced to keep Details view *for that session only* by setting to Details and holding down the CTRL key while processing the first file, but after re-opening the app, I'm back to List view.

Whoever at Microsoft decided to make List the default needs to have itching powder sprinkled in his shorts.

I'm hoping someone has a solution.

Thanks -

Browsers Will Store Credit Card Details Similar to How They Save Passwords

A new W3C standard is slowly creeping into current browser implementations, a standard that will simplify the way people make payments online.

Called the Payment Request API, this new standard relies on users entering and storing payment card details inside browsers, just like they currently do with passwords.

Websites will be able to use the standard to create one-click buttons that allow the user to buy a product without entering his payment details on each and every site on the Internet.

New Payment Request API makes buying stuff a lot easier
A popup will appear showing payment and shipping details. The user can then select the payment and shipping method of his liking, along with a delivery address, both previously saved in the browser.Click to expand...

You can test Payment Request API demos here.

Chrome and Edge already support it
Browsers that support the Payment Request API include Google Chrome, who first added support for it in Chrome for Android 53 in August 2016, and added desktop support last month, with the release of Chrome 61.

Microsoft Edge also supports the Payment Request API since September 2016, but the feature requires that users register a Microsoft Wallet account before using it.

Firefox and Safari are still working on supporting the API, and so are browser implementations from Facebook and Samsung, both eager to provide a simpler payment mechanism than the one in u... Read more

'do not re-trigger it
Application.EnableEvents = False

'test if changed cell is the one we are interested in
'must use the $ signs in the cell address
If Target.Address = "$A$1" Then
'place the time in the cell one row below it
Target.Offset(1, 0).Value = Date
'format the cell
Target.Offset(1, 0).NumberFormat = "dd/mmm/yy"
're-enable events
Application.EnableEvents = True
End If
Exit Sub

'error handler
ErrHnd:
Err.Clear
're-enable events
Application.EnableEvents = True
End SubFrom the VB window menu bar click File - SaveUse Alt+f11 keys (the Alt and function key 11 pressed together) to return to the main Excel window. This code will respond to Excel's change event. Whenever data in a cell is changed, this code will run. The code tests to see if the changed cell was the one to respond to, and if so, it places the date in the cell in the row below the changed cell.Note that there is no test for or warning that the cell may already contain data.Regards

I don't know what events are trappable in Word 2K7; the only trappable Document events are New, Close, and Open. If BeforeSave is trappable in Word 2K7, you should be able to do this transparently. If not, you'll have to add a button somewhere, and avoid using the built-in save.

On the 30th of Dec. my "received" column in Outlook 2002 changed to the 2003. Now it says 2004. The date in the actual email is correct when I open it.

It only does this with messages that I receive thru Yahoo. The ones I get thru another server have the right date.

All other programs and even the calendar in Outlook 2002 are all correct. It seems that Yahoo is somehow sending the wrong code to my browser.

This has not happened to me before and is doing it on both my computers.

I can't find a tech support address at Yahoo. Anyone have one for them?

Hi, I'm having a problem transferring emails onto cd.
After compressing and identifying correct files, I have got as far as
burning onto the CD but when I try to read them from the CD, I am
unable to open any of them. I suppose I must have to save in some kind of
format - can anyone tell me how to do this ?
(XP home/OE).

Thanks for any advice

Answer:Trying To Save Emails Onto Cd

If you have saved them in the .dbx file format that OE stores all your messages in then you wont be able to access those by just double clicking them, you will have to either import them back or save the emails in .eml format, which will allow you to just double click the saved email to open, to do this you have a few options that I use.

1. In OE highlight thr message to save and click File > Save As and save the message to a location of your choice ( long and labourious method )

2. Use a program to extract or view the emails from the .dbx for you into .eml's

DBXtract
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,23383,00.asp
will allow you to extract the emails from all of the different .dbx's and save them as .eml

Outlook Express Extraction
http://macallan.club.fr/index.htm
Will extract emails form a .dbx, it should also allow you to access those .dbx files you have saved to CD.

Since my stored emails in my account at hotmail takes more than half of the capacity of the account i need to download them on my hd.I tried to do it with outlook but i realized that even if it downloads them on the hd,you cannot delete them from the account.

you can use Outlook Express to connect to your hotmail account and download the emails from there. Just make sure you make a hotmail archive folder and copy them to it when you want to save them. The default hotmail folder that it creates is tied to their servers.

I have Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 running on a Windows NT 4.0 SP6 server. All is well except for the 'sent' date on emails. Due to the rule in the Outlook calendar where all entries are pushed forward or back an hour when the time zone changes we have the "Automatically update for British Summertime" box unchecked on each server and computer and simply change the time every six months. The time on the email server is correct and the time on the desktop computers is correct. However when we send external emails they seem to arrive an hour before they were sent and when we send internal emails they seem to arrive an hour after they were sent. This does not make sense and I don't know where else to look for time settings, can anyone help please?

Answer:Exchange Server putting wrong date on emails

Delete the rules and see what it does. The emails should only get the timestamp from the server.

Now which files, with regards to Outlook Express do i need to save in order that i don't loose all my saved emails?
Is this actually possible?
I'm sure it is, but after loosing them all last time I had to do a re-install, i want to be sure this time.
And once reinstalled, how do I reimport them into OE, as i assume initially it will be empty?

BTW, its just the emails saved that I am worried about; i don't save contacts with it.

Answer:How to save emails when reinstalling XP

Hi eee-tee

You can find the location of your message store this way:
In Outlook Express,
Tools > Options > Maintenance tab
Click on the Store Folder button note the path there.
This is what MY path looks like:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{E006D5D9-0388-4C63-8AB2-368AD966CBD9}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

The folder in Red may be different for your path.
The numbers in Blue will be different on your system.Click to expand...

Navigate to that path using Windows Explorer.

There you will find the Outlook Express .dbx files.
Move or Copy those files to a folder on your Desktop, save the folder to a CD as your backup.

If you have more than one Identity, repeat the above steps for each one.
______________________________________________________________

To restore your .dbx files to your new setup:

Open Outlook Express,
Setup your account information.
Locate the Store Directory:
Tools > Options > Maintenance tab
Click on the Store Folder button note the path there.
Close Outlook Express.

Navigate to that path using Windows Explorer.
Locate the Folders.dbx file and delete it.

Copy your backup folder of .dbx files to your Desktop, remove the Read-Only attribute for the .dbx files.

I am just about to format my hard drive but realise that I have quite a few emails that I would like to save in Outlook. I realise that I can save the emails individually in HTML format, but when I reinstall outlook later, is there anyway I can put these back in to the inbox with the correct dates that they were originally received??

Answer:Save Outlook Emails

Before reformating your hard drive carry out this procedure.Open up outlook express and click: file/export/messages and then follow the instructions. If you have a lot of files then you might need to save these on a CD rather than a floppy. You can also copy your address files across too by following the same procedure but exporting your address book.Good luck.Pimpers.

Answer:Prog or app to save emails

I assume you use a free web-based email service like GMail or Hotmail.

Most free services give you the option to access their emails via an email client : Email client - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
When using this client, you can choose to archive some of your folders locally on your hard drive.

Here is a link describing the steps needed to do it for GMail. They should apply for any other similar service : Make a Local Backup Of Your Gmail Account - Wired How-To Wiki

I've got the HDD from my old (dead) PC installed in an external USB enclosure, so have access to all my old files.I want to merge the AOL emails which I saved on my old PC with the AOL emails which I'm now saving on my new PC. According to AOL's helpline, (a) I can only do this if I've backed them up previously (not just saved them on my PC), which I didn't and (b) I can only replace my current file with the old one, not merge them.Has anybody done what I want to do? If so, how is it done, please.
