Application blocked by security settings

Question: Application blocked by security settings

Using IE11.0.9600.16518 I've been having this problem lately with some sites I didn't have problems with before. I lowered my IE security setting to Med and no change. I've tried various things and nothing has worked. Nothing was done by mean to cause this. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

Preferred Solution: Application blocked by security settings

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Try using Clean boot,

Hi there, I am running 8.1, and firefox 25. I can't download or run Avast, or download any executables, suddenly. I lowered my security settings to Medium and added Avast to the firewall permissions, but to no avail. My download settings were already at "prompt" anyway, so there's something deeper I can't figure out. I'm a reasonably competent generalist but not super computer smart, so I need answers for the layperson Thanks for any help.

Hello, recently ran into a weird error, as described in the title. Every time a user wants to extract some archive, he right clicks on it and a popup appears saying "internet security settings blocked one or more files from being opened" Can
click Continue or Cancel iirc. The file is not not blocked, but just gets a warning. It does not happen for other users working with the same files and settings. Tried resetting internet explorer security settings, tried setting Enable on Launching applications
and unsafe files and Launching programs and files in an IFRAME in security settings on all the zones, still get the same. Any other options? Could it be UAC or something else? Thanks

Answer:Hijack Log, Trojans, Windows Security Settings Blocked, Etc

Hello there and welcome to Bleeping Computer's security forum. My name is David, I will be helping you with your log today. Please move HijackThis to another location, preferably c:\Program Files\HijackThis. Anywhere is fine, other than your Desktop or a Temp folder. If HijackThis is in a temporary folder you run the risk of accidentally deleting the backups or it clutters your desktop with all the backups. If you use Windows XP it might be that you just double clicked on the file HijackThis.exe, but that only extracts the file to a temporary folder. Please select the file and Extract it to a folder. How do you make a permanent folder:Click "My Computer", then "C:\" and then on "Program Files".In the menu bar, "File"->"New"->"Folder".That will create a folder named "New Folder", which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis".Now you have "C:\Program Files\HijackThis". Put your HijackThis.exe there.Go to this page.Enter the url of this thread in the first field.Where it says, browse to the file that you want to submit, copy and paste next in the field:C:\WINDOWS\system32\mpreg.exeThen click the Send File button below. Please let me know when you have submitted the file.

Answer:Windows Security - Your Internet Settings blocked one or more files...

What version of IE do you have?

Try resetting IE to default:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1222-internet-explorer-reset.html

Follow with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download-exe.php
Save to the Desktop.

MBAM may make changes to the Registry as part of its disinfection routine.
If using other security programs that detect Registry changes, they may interfere or alert you.
Temporarily disable such programs as shown, or permit them to allow the changes:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html

Right-click the MBAM file, and select: Run as Administrator
When the installation begins, follow the prompts.

Make sure you leave both of these checked:
Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Click: Finish

MBAM automatically starts and you are asked to update the program.
If an update is found, the program automatically updates itself.
Press the OK button to close the box and continue.

On the Scanner tab:
Make sure the Perform Full Scan option is selected.
Then click on the Scan button.

If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected.
Click on the Start Scan button.

The scan may take some time to complete, so please be patient.

When the scan is finished, a message box shows The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found
Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.

Hey guys! I'm new here, I signed up because I reckon you might be able to help me out, so here goes!

Ive been running Messenger Plus! Live for quite a while now, its an add-on to Windows Live Messenger (im running 9.0BETA) but is still a separate application when it comes to programs & features.

Up until this morning it was running great, had been for a while, then it simply refuses to start with Messenger. I was about to uninstall and reinstall it using Progs & Features when I noticed that it's icon in the list has a small red circle with a line through it attached to the icon - a blocked icon?

I wonder what this means (since it could technically happen to anything else as well) and how I might go about rectifying the problem.

Hope you can help

James

I'm using a Toshiba laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1.

A few days ago, my brother installed a bunch of programs on my laptop and downloaded some stuff. After that, my computer was running slowly during startup and programs would take minutes to initialize. I ran Malwarebyte's and found Adware.MyWebSearch, which I deleted. I also ran Spybot:S&D, which found nothing. I restarted the computer and it seemed to be working at normal speed again.

At the same time that my computer started running slowly, I also began getting a popup from my system tray saying something like "Some programs have been blocked at startup" and said to click to view them. Clicking did nothing so I right clicked the "Blocked startup programs" icon in my system tray and went to "Run blocked program". The only program listed there is "UpdateUtil Application".

When I go to "Show or remove blocked startup programs", I see that there's a program called "UpdateUtil Application" under the heading "Microsoft". It lists Microsoft as the publisher; however, it is not signed. There are no other programs under the "Microsoft" heading. All of the other Microsoft programs are under the "Microsoft Corporation" heading and are signed by "Microsoft Windows Verification PCA". It also says that it's "Permitted" even though it's claiming to be blocked.

When I format my pc it works and after some updates it blocks the port again. I tried to add the rule on the windows firewall to allow the port but no luck.

Same issue happened to me too yesterday when I booted Fallout 4, it froze for a few seconds and then closed on itself.

Seconds later, I get this notification (w10) telling me that this app was blocked from accessing the graphics hardware.

I have been using Windows 10 ever since it was officially released, all drivers are up to date, including the gpu one, whql.

My issue began when I first launched a game on my computer. After playing for a bit my AMD driver crashed. It prompted me with an error reading "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" but it didn't give me much information. I then used the AMD Utility software to preform a clean uninstall of AMD drivers, and installed new drivers taken from the AMD website. When I tried to play the game again it crashed, this time it prompted me with another error message informing me that the "application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware".

I've tried the following in an attempt to fix the issue:

1) Tried using compatibility mode.
2) Tried running as administrator.
3) Tried turning off anti-virus software.
4) Used AMD Utility software to perform a clean uninstall of ADM drivers, reinstalled drivers. (No change)
5) Used DDU software to perform a clean uninstall of AMD drivers, reinstalled drivers. (No change)
6) Used regedit to increase TdrDelay to 8, did not fix the issue.
7) Used regedit to set TdrLevel to 0, did not fix the issue.
8) Tried using SFC, Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
9) Tried using DISM but it didn't come back with any issues either.

I'm not sure what else to do and there's little helpful information to be found online. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help.

Hello everyone,

I have just moved from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 (clean install, not an upgrade) and am now getting an error when running DirectX 9 games (Guild Wars 2, Mass Effect 1,2 and 3), it freezes the game and forces me to end the process, then gives me the titled error. Occasionally I'll get an error that the AMD display driver has crashed then recovered (once the game has been forcibly closed), then it will ping the titled error.

I have tried the following solutions:

Hello sacredboy.

I would assume that it means the preferred graphics card and if I'm not mistaken that would be your nVidia graphics card but you can check it by using this guide to get it sorted out:

Dedicated GPU on Windows

Once you know which is the selected you have to either download the Intel Driver Update Utility or then the GeForce Experience:

Intel

or

GeForce

I am currently trying to get my boyfriends computer working properly again. A couple of weeks ago it stopped receiving security updates. Nothing had been downloaded (actively) around that time until he tried to fix a problem with random and irrelevant pop ups. I have removed WinDefender 2009 as well as elements found of Total Security 2009 (TS-2009). Windows updates, Norton updates, and Ad-Aware updates are all being blocked. (Error = No connection to download server.) Also the installation of other security type software such as SpySweeper and SpyBot are being blocked. I managed to trick the computer into allowing the Microsoft web scan by typing the URL for the alternate verification method as many of the Microsoft pages relating to security downloads and interaction are blocked. This tool found upwards of 40 items and at least 3 issues. Unfortunately once the scan was finished the computer was frozen and I was unable to see the details of the report. I also went into the services to make sure the Automatic Updates are set to Automatic. Every time I do this it changes back to Disabled once it click Apply and the option to start the service does not become available. I believe there is something hiding in the system causing this but I'm having trouble finding it so I can get it out.

The OS is Windows XP and I am comfortable working in the registry as long as I know what items I need to delete or what changes (specifically) need to be made. I am not comfortable with the... Read more

Hello guys. I wouldn't come to bother you with this issue if I haven't searched some other forums before without success. This issue is only happening with one game: Modern Warfare 3 (Steam version). Let me explain:
-First I got the "Graphic drivers stop responding...." error which is easily fixed by changing TdrDelay at the Regedit menu. I changed it from 3 to 10 and after that, the error now is "Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware" with the respective freezing of the game and tray notification.

I used Display Driver Uninstaller for removing all drivers from my GPU and re installing the latest version (HD 5770 AMD graphic card). Anyway, I can play ANY OTHER GAME with no issues at all. It only happens with MWF3

I really don't know what else to do (maybe reinstalling the game, but I want to be shure there is no other problem with my system). Is there any other Tdr value that can be changed?

Thanks for kind help!!!

EDIT: The only thing I can remember is that this started happening after AMD asked for a software update an a AMD Evolded app shown up asking for "optimizing games". The latest to be optimized was MWF3. I have uninstalled AMD Evolved to see if maybe it made some changes to MWF3 as a "gaming profile" style and now I can't revert that...just maybe...

Hi everyone, I am getting desperate because I think my Lenovo Y410P graphics card (nvidia GT 750M) is either damaged or completely non-functional. Every time I try to start up a graphics-intensive program like games or benchmark programs, I get the message "Application blahblah.exe has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware." When I switch over to the integrated graphics (Intel HD 4600) my programs run fine, albeit with much lower resolutions and graphics quality. I noticed this after receiving my Y410P back from the repair center in Texas after sending it in because the laptop wouldn't even turn on one day. Whenever I look in the task manager after opening up a game, for example, the game will just stop loading after taking up a couple hundred MB of RAM, then go to like 1-2% CPU usage, and just hang there. When I try to alt tab into the game, it won't do anything or just give me a black screen. I tried reverting back to factory settings and doing a clean fresh install of all the graphics drivers directly from the Lenovo website. I even updated the graphics drivers to the latest version, but when I try to open geforce experience, I get the error message "Display driver ... has stopped responding and recovered." I've tried going into device manager and disabling/enabling the graphics card. I've tried changing around power settings. Can anyone help me determine whether the graphics card is actually broken or it's something else?

Answer:Y410P - application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware

Windows Firewall is not producing the alerts it should be. I'm getting no alerts at all
(Yes, it is switched to show alerts!)
Not that I really want them, but...

I found the audit warning in the event logs recurring many times -
"Windows Firewall was unable to notify the user that it blocked an application from accepting incoming connections on the network.
Error Code:2"

There are other alerts saying that - Windows Firewall is "marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly."

I got the same message about the 'TrueVector Internet Monitor' while I had Zone Alarm running (which I had to uninstall because it wouldn't work). I was not getting alerts on that either.

Weird??

I've found nothing on the KB about this, or on any of those MS forums.

Any pointers anyone?

cheers,
Ian

Hi to everyone (and specially to johnwill),

I keep getting the message (from my firewall):

Application NDIS User mode I/O Driver has been blocked, File name is ndisuio.sys

I understand it is because I refused to let some application to access the Internet (When in doubt, abstain ).

Although it doesn't seem to affect anything, I'd like to understand what is a NDIS User mode I/O Driver before killing these (annoying) pop-up windows.

Thank you.

I have a T440 Thinkpad with Intel HD Graphics 4400 with the driver version 20.19.15.4531. I also have the Windows 10 Education version 10.0.10586. Everytime I try to play a game---ranging from Sid Meier's Pirates! (created in 2004) to Assassin's Creed Black Flag (2013)---the video within the game freezes then, after multiple Ctrl+Alt+Delete's and cancels back to the game, it crashes and I get the alert that "the application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware." I have tried to find fixes for this in many other places, but I have failed on multiple occasions. Most of the fixes are for Windows 7 or maybe 8. Are there any fixes for Windows 10 Education? I really need to know. it is driving me insane!

Hello. My name is Extremeboy (or EB for short), and I will be helping you with your log.Can you try booting into Safe Mode and see if you can run GMER successfully? How to Boot into Safe ModeI suggest you read over the instructions on how to boot into Safe Mode and then print these instructions out or save them in Notepad because you won't have access to this page while in Safe Mode.Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:Restart the computer. As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.Use your arrow keys to navigate and highlight Safe Mode.Hit Enter. You will now be asked to choose your operating system. Again, use the arrow keys to select Microsoft Windows XP.Hit Enter.Your computer will proceed to booting into Safe Mode. During the boot process, you may see random code go past your screen. Simply wait for it to pass. Your computer should boot like usually, except with Safe Mode written in the corners of your screen. Your screen may also appear to be a different size because the video drivers are not loaded properly in Safe Mode. After the boot, you will be asked whether you wish to use system restore, or to continue to Safe Mode. Select OK to choose Safe mode.Additional instructions on booting into Safe Mode can be found here

First, I wish to thank you guys for this very awesome board, I know I will have fun learning all the stuff I do not know already about computers, tweaks, and what not.

My Question, and forgive me for putting it here, I had no idea where else to put it, I thought about tutorials, but I know this isn't even an option in win7, I assume it will be moved if needed, by the admins, and thank you, for understanding.

"this file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer"

How in the dickens do I hack the registry or what ever I need to do, to prevent files from being blocked upon downloading them?
I do a lot of downloading and what not, and its frustrating having to manually them, every single time.

Please understand, I already have a hack "take ownership" installed in my right click menu, to preform muti-files at once.

What I desperately need, it to stop them from being blocked from the beginning, so I don't have to unblock them afterwards.

I assume this must involve a Group Policy hack of some sort?

Thanks in advanced.

I have a lot of 3.5. discs created ten years ago or so I wanted to look at. Some opened others did not. Those that did not displayed the message I set out below.
Last night I was working on a totally different document and when I attempted to save it the same message came up but with, "You are attempting to save a file type (Open document text files) that have been blocked by your file settings in the trust centre." That means I?m stuffed if I want to edit any document or file.
These are the full words from my first problem.
"You are attempting to open a file type (word 2 and earlier Binary Documents and Templates) that have been blocked by your file settings in the trust centre.
This error occurs when you open a Microsoft Office file blocked by File Settings in the Trust Centre. To enable this file type do the following:
Click the File type tab.
Under Help, click Options.
Click Trust Centre and then click Trust Centre Settings.
In the Trust Centre click File Block Settings.
To save documents with this file type disable the registry policy setting. For more information see Microsoft Knowledge base article 922850"
I only got so far but then chickend out.
I am not technically competent and I wonder if a Microsoft service exists that I could telephone and they could take over my system and fix the problem I have. I would be happy to pay.

Answer:Blocked by file settings in trust centre.

Dell tower running XP SP-2: I followed MS support Article 323525 to try and set limited program access for an Limited User account. This details going into gpedit.msc and changing settings.

I followed method 1 in the instructions. I do not remember ever setting up any "groups".

Unfortunately I blocked access to most everything, even for the Administrator account. This includes access to the 'run' command window. Looks like the restricted access settings apply to any user on the computer and not just Limited Account users.

How do I get all access back for administrator accounts on this computer and restrict only the Limited Account users?

Hi:

My colleague brought me his computer. Apparently, he uninstalled AVG and at some point installed Malware Defense. I've deleted all traces of Malware Defense from the registry and unregistered the associated dlls but I cannot successfully install AVG9--the installation always fails due to not responding in a timely fashion. I can install Spybot 1.62 but it won't launch in either regular nor safe mode. Likewise I can install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but it won't respond.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi,

I recently received a Trojan Virus when downloading from an insecure site, a big mistake. I scanned the file prior to opening it and it turned up clean, but after it was extracted my Symantec anti-virus began to detect a variety of viral infections many of which it was unable to delete. The file released a variety of Trojans onto my system and it installed Brave Sentry.

I found this site shortly after and followed the Admin's instructions on a similar if not identical problem. While I believed that the problem was neutralized, this was not the case. I am still receiving Symantec detections and while they are being deleted, it seems apparent that there are still remnants of the Trojan or Virus left on my computer.

Also when I attempt to log onto MSN Messenger an error code pop-ups denying my connection. This problem deals with the fire wall, which at this time I cannot access. When I attempt to change the settings I am briefed by Windows saying, "due to unidentified problem, Windows cannot display the firewall settings.

I hope you can help me on this issue.
Thanks,

Ryan D. Burns

Hey guys, I have hughesnet satellite internet, aswell as a hughes modem and I use a direct tv network adapter which connects to my belkin n150 wifi router.

I was in the settings yesterday messing about, and I disabled the access point option by accident and it completely shut off ANY wifi connection to the router. I can hardwire with ethernet direct from the modem, or I can use the ethernet connection through the modem and router but that's it. I try to go to 192.168.2.1 to go into the router settings page but no matter what I do it won't load the page. The issue is due to the access point disabled, but I can't get into the router settings to re enable it, even through a hardwire.
I've reset the router, modem, hard reset both, disconnected and re connected everything, and still no avail

Any suggestions guys?

I have a drive that had Vista Home Premium on it & NTFS as the file system. The drive went bad with over 100 K bad sectors. Preformed a hard drive recovery; After several days I managed to remap all the bad sectors so that I could read the drive when booting from a XP boot CD or a UBCD cd.

Now When I view the drives directory structure I can browse most of what is listed except for the Documents & Settings folder. When I try that one I get the message "Access Denied". I tried getting into the properties to see if I can change the properties but the Security tab did not show up.

I am a lot more familiar with XP than Vista. Is there an added security feature Vista has on the Documents & Setting folder that only Vista can open it. I tried using a Vista Recovery disk but it was not able to see the partition. Also I am not sure if there are any tools on the disk to recover files from a drive that no longer boots windows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
/Peter

Answer:Security Settings for Documents and Settings Folder

"Access Denied" is a proper and routine message encountered...when moving a hard drive from one system to another. Only impacts the Docs & Settings files/folders, all other files can be easily accessed. So can the Docs & Settings folders, by taking ownership of the files/folders.Taking Ownership in VistaLouis

I've been using Windows XP Home for a while now, and on my latest reinstallation, new files I download and presumably the files I'll be putting back on from my backup drives have a security warning in properties that it's from another computer and 'might' be blocked.

I haven't had any access problems, and you can click unblock, but doing that on every file, if I have to, will take a while.

How can I disable this 'feature' all together?

My computer has also been generally slower lately, now days I have to run AdvancedSystemCare turbo boost and Game booster or it sometimes lags when opening simple documents. Another thing, this is hardly malware but a long time ago I uninstalled McAfee and it left fragments, it would be nice to remove those with HiJackthis or something.

You usually get infected because your security settings are too low.

Here are a number of recommendations that will help tighten them, and which will contribute to making you a less likely victim:

1) Watch what you download!
Many freeware programs, and P2P programs like Grokster, Imesh, Kazaa and others are amongst the most notorious, come with an enormous amount of bundled spyware that will eat system resources, slow down your system, clash with other installed software, or just plain crash your browser or even Windows itself.

It's important to always keep current with the latest security fixes from Microsoft. Install those patches for Internet Explorer, and make sure your installation of Java VM is up-to-date. Ok, so I recently re-installed windows (Windows 7 Home Prem. 64 bit, SP 1), had no issues with it before, Had this PC for year and a half, and today suddenly it gives me the above error when i try to download a file (Even windows updates) off of IE, It's also worth noting pictures do not show up either.
I have found a temporarly looparound by moving a Firefox copy onto this PC from my Labtop via flash drive, but its far from a fix. Still can't download anything, but I can see images and watch some youtube videos.

But theres another error as well when i try to download off of firefox:

I have tried changing my Internet Security settings, but they don't solve anything and they actually reset themselves back to the defualt (Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded) after about 5-10 minuites.

Pretty confident it's a windows issue and not a Networking issue as everyone else can connect fine, and iits also causing issues like "File is corrupt" whenever trying to open files, and is breaking both Firefox and IE, But if mods think this thread is more appropiate somewhere else, Be my guest to move it where it would get awnsered better.

Tried so far:
Reinstalling windows (Yes i moved my games/files to flash drive(s) and formatted my disk when installing)

Changing Internet Security Settings

Thanks in advance.

Everytime I try to open any file marked .exe, I get an error saying: Your Internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened. The file I am currently trying to open has nothing to do with the internet, actually. Its my photo gallery that came preloaded with the computer (Using the shortcut on the Dock or whatever its called). It does the same thing for a lot of files, and it seems they're all marked .exe files. Not sure what to do at this point... It's very frustrating. Greetings.

I have an Acer TravelMate 6292 running 32 bit XP SP3, using Firefox though with IE installed. A little while ago I received an e-mail from my ISP that they had detected possible malicious activity coming from my network, and that it was likely that a computer has been infected (verified from contact with ISP). Also, I found that I am no longer able to access websites like f-secure.com, symantec.com and various others (Server not found). A scan with MWB shows among other things a tenga virus. I have already checked the hosts file, but it looks like it should.

Attached is my HJT log file. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1100 running XP home. In the last week, my control panel has disappeared totally.

Any attempt at using windows security gets "This operation was cancelled due to restrictions on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

I have run Spybot, Adaware, Regcure, SuperAntiSpyware, Avast and Panda. Running all several times got me to where Restore Sys worked and I restored to 30 days ago. But still no control panel.

I finally tried the Dell restore disc and when it loaded and started, the following message appeared: "An error occurred loading the resource file regsrvc.dll (err code = -1)"

I desperately need someone to walk me through the fix. I've read many other threads and watched the Hiajackthis mechanics but have never come close to doing any of that. Help?

How do I get it to boot?

Good evening:

I read the instructional post regarding what information is required and reviewed a few threads. I hope I do this correctly.

The operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002.

Security is Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Client.

An older computer of course but very well maintained by the IT guys (its in my home)and problem free until a few days ago with a huge problem today.

At the moment my Symantec System will not enable or scan. I cannot send or respond to emails though I can receive them. My firewall is constantly challenging mundane issues such as Windows or Google. When using Google at times I will be randomly sent to what are obviously ad sites. When trying to respond to an email I will receive a box asking me if I want to save or find a program to open this file.

I'm sorry that my query isn't more technically detailed. I'm really a root vegetable at this. Any help would be appreciated.

I can call the IT gentlemen tomorrow to come to the house (its my husband's computer for home also) but the very nice individuals at Norton said that this site might be helpful. Its 11:26 here in the U.K. but I'll still be up for awhile.

Answer:Security type websites being blocked.

Hi,

This is a very heavily infected machine. You have a rootkit, a disk control hijacker and a possible MBR (master boot record) infection.

I am also having trouble getting rid of Mcaffee security center using the control panel.

What do you mean by that? Has it expired? Are you trying to uninstall it, but cannot? What's exactly happening?

Your system doesn't appear to be fully updated either. It has been quite a while since SP3 was released, but your system is still at SP2. Please don't try to update it now though. You can do that after the system is cleaned of malware.

Having said all that, we can try to attempt to clean it. However, please do not make any system changes, add/or remove any programs, or any self fixes during the course of the fix other than the ones advised by me until the machine is cleaned. If you're networked, keep this machine off the network, and needless to say, keep it off the internet other than communicating with us.

We'll need to run a couple more analysis tools.
Please download Rootkit Unhooker and save it to your desktop.
Double-click RKUnhookerLE.exe to run it.
Click the Report tab, then click Scan
Check Drivers, Stealth Code, Files, and Code Hooks
Uncheck the rest, then click OK
When prompted to Select Disks for Scan, make sure C:\ is checked and click OK
Wait till the scanner has finished then go File > Save Report
Save the report somewhere you can find it. Click C... Read more

AVG 8 works and scans but finds nothing, spybot -search & destroy doesn't load , neither does malwarebytes malware scanner, If I search in IE it redirects my search, If I search in Firefox with no script running it blocks something and the search usually works , however I just searched in IE on Yahoo for microsoft updates and clicked on windowsupdate.microsoft.com and got redirected to this site <hxxp://www.spreety.com/?s=findtest&sid=6771-2642> once there you cannot go back , the only way out is to shut the window. If I try to run System restore nothing happens, same with spybot and malwarebytes. I uninstalled spybot and tried to reinstall... I got this error message "the server name or address could not be resolved". I also tried a trend housecall scan. it found a few things and removed them but said it could do nothing with these MS06-012 , 037 , 059 , MS07-002 , 015 , 023 , 025 , 036 , 044 ANy help would be appreciated. I work all day and will check in Mon.night . ty

I really want to secure my PC with anti-executable / application whitelisting technique.

Is there such a component in CIS?

Answer:Internet Security there an anti-executable / application whitelisting component in Comodo Internet Security?

Use proactive configuration and go to sandbox settings. By default proactive security will virtualize all unknows files.
If you want to block all files but whitelisted files.
See help: https://help.comodo.com/topic-72-1-623-7763-Configuring-Rules-for-Auto-Sandbox.html
Set "Block" for others.. So CIS only allows whitelisted ones, others will blocked.. Protection %100

You can dig into help files to learn more (like me) : https://help.comodo.com/topic-72-1-623-7587-Introduction-to-Comodo-Internet-Security.html

If you are trying to send malicious item or your attachment has a virus, Yahoo will block that attachment for security purpose as a result; you won?t be able to send it to your recipients. Scan the attachment with a genuine antivirus and try to attach it again. Make sure that the size of the attachment should be less than 25MB. You can only attach images, audio/video and documents only. In the case of too many files, convert them into WIN-ZIP or WIN-RAR then try to attach it shall work fine. Remember, for security purpose you can attach executable files like software or games etc. If the size is less than 25MB convert them into WIN-ZIP or WIN-RAR before you reattach. For any kind of technical help or confusion contact our certified technicians on our toll-free Yahoo helpline number 24/7 just dial.  .
