Wrong fonts displaying on all browsers only on laptop

Question: Wrong fonts displaying on all browsers only on laptop

Hi,

On my laptop, on certain websites, the font is completely different to how I view it on every other computer/laptop. I cannot figure out what could possibly be causing this and was hoping someone here has a solution.

I have included screen shots showing the difference. I know it may sound really ocd, but it's generally worse on my eyes I find. All the main titles on websites (more than just facebook) are replaced by a horrible bold font and the general text on a lot of sites seems more narrow.

This happens on all browsers and only browsers, all other system fonts are correct.

Things I have tried so far but did not fix the problem
- connected laptop to another monitor and applied the max resolution of 1080p (my laptop screen is 1366x768, gpu supports 1080 tho)
- Gone into my internet options from the control panel and tried changing the font (and crossed checked it with other computers)
-Checked chrome's font settings and cross checked with other computers

The problem as been present ever since I got the laptop, its just really started to bug me recently.

Any help is appreciated, thanks

Preferred Solution: Wrong fonts displaying on all browsers only on laptop

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,

I have got a Dell Vostro 1400 laptop that has been giving me a headache... It is more than 3 years old and came with Windows XP pre-installed. I ran Win7 (legitimate copy) on it for awhile (about 4 months) without any problems, then suddenly it would die while in Win7. Things like system shutting down by itself and freezing when displaying videos were common. Then it started showing “Memory Parity” errors. I tried swapping RAM modules but to no avail.

So I re-installed Windows XP with SP3. Installation was smooth and driver installation was in order. It ran ok for about a week before auto-shutting down again. Now it even screws up the screen during BIOS loading (when the Dell logo and progress bar shows) and when loading Windows (please see attached photo for crazy fonts/capitalisation during Windows Restore screen).

I am now running Ubuntu from it without installation (i.e. booting and running from the CD) and am encountering no problems whatsoever.

The Dell BIOS diagnostics would run while I was running Win7 and report no errors, so I’m trying to assume that there’re no hardware errors. Perhaps the photo might be telling to you experts out there.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Answer:Laptop auto-shutdown and displaying screwy/wrong fonts even during start up

Try to boot from the window 7 Disc and run the Memory Test Program from there.... If it pass.... I think may be teh build in Video card Issue.... I see similar error in Desktop... The video chip have problem ... it work ok without load the driver ... but whenever you load the driver .. it cause problem...

Did this problem happen in safe mode?

I'm having a weird issue with how a certain website is displaying in my browser. The font is all messed up, and I have no idea if it's an issue with my browser (Firefox), or my OS (Windows 7 32bit).

The site is buzzfeed. It displays fine in my other browsers, but in Firefox, one of the fonts is constantly displaying incorrectly - it looks like the wrong font is being used (it's using rockfont for some reason - which is on my system as a requirement for a pinball game I play).

Here's how it looks usually in Firefox:

And here's how it looked after I uninstalled the rockfont font:

And then just a few minutes later, it looked like this (while rockfont was still uninstalled):

Any idea what's going on with my fonts, and why it only happens on this one site, and only in Firefox? I'm using the latest version of Firefox, but this has been happening for months. After I re-installed rockfont, the page then went back to using that as a font, as in the top image.

This started around the 1st of September. It seems like the title/headline fonts across all browsers, Firefox, IE and Chrome, has changed to an open face style font. I'm note sure what font it is. There was a windows update KB 2993651 that corresponded to my issue. I did a system restore to a point previous to this update and the problem went away.

Today the problem returned. There have been no updates or changes made to my system to make the fonts revert back to an open face style. Since it's across all browsers I think it has to be a windows issue and not browser related.

I did try changing the default fonts in google but it did not help. I also tried restoring the default font in the windows control panel, no help in the fact that the restore system font button grayed out and did'nt do anything.

I ran a full virus scan and no virus' were detected. I am not sure how to solve this

See attached image.

Thank you for your help

Answer:Title fonts in all web browsers viewing as open face fonts error

Hi,

Have you added/installed any fonts?
If you have try removing them and see if the issue goes away, i had this issue a while a go and it was a font i had installed.

c:\windows\fonts

It would be worth checking that location and sorting by date modified, is there anything new at the top/recent?

Problem is with a Toshiba M645 running Win 7 Home Premium, IE10, Firefox & Chrome. The problem is it displays pages incorrectly. The most common problem is an area has a background image or color and instead of seeing it there will be what appears to be chain link, stars or scrolling symbols. Sometimes clearing temp files and cache will clear it up for a short time.I have run virus scans, malware scans tried checking in Safe mode to isolate the video driver. Scans did find a couple trojans and some adware, checking after pages would appear to be normal again. Sometimes it would be fine until re-started or it might just take a short period of usage to start displaying pages wrong again. Any help would be appreciated

This problem just started today on my PC and is driving me crazy. Any assistance is appreciated. Today while surfing the web, many (not all) web sites are displayed with larger text than is normally shown. It is not every site I visit, as many still appear normal. Sometimes it also affects emails that I view using MISE.

I am using IE 6.0 and my OS is XP Home SP1. I have checked the accessibility settings and they are normal. I have cleared out my cache and cookies. I have uninstalled IE and tried reinstalling. Nothing has worked. Remember, this only started today -- prior to today everything was fine.

I have viewed the source of the web pages that appear incorrectly, and they all seem to be using CSS (cascading style sheets). Could a file on my PC that processes these CSS instructions have become corrupted thus causing these font errors? I don't know anything about CSS so I am just throwing darts here.

Thanks in advance to all that attempt to assist me with this problem.

I have had this dell pc for a year. I had a ton of opentype fonts installed on here as I am a graphic designer. All of a sudden I notice none of my OTF files are in my photoshop list..I checked the windows/fonts folder and not there either. I try installing new OTF files and it says "not a valid font file"

Here is the kicker..I converted my OTF files to Truetype and when I install them windows says its already installed, but you look at the list and nothing there. I have tried everything, read all the forums..here is what I have done

I am logged on as admin. I removed my kids account so there is only one account (admin account)
I updated my graphics card (read that can be an issue)
I have changed the UAC to never notify
When I click on the font properties there is NO box that says unblock (read that on this site)
I sent the file to a friend, they installed fine, so its not a corrupt file.

I just don't understand how they were installed and working fine and now they are not and I cant even add new OTF files.

Anyone have another suggestion?

Ran into a bit of a weird issue. A few days ago, a co-worker had a problem with a couple of fonts not appearing. This was originally discovered in AutoCAD, so we thought as a program issue. Today, we discovered it also applies to Microsoft Word. The font is in the list, but boxes appear in place of the letters. It must be a Windows issue.

The fonts are installed, but do not show up in the Windows\fonts folder nor in the fonts in the control panel. We can install those fonts and it asks to replace them. So they are there. I have been looking all over the place for a solution and haven't found anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to Seven Forums Morice. Try opening Google in IE in Safe mode with networking and see if the behavior still exists

Safe Mode

If it works correctly in safe mode, something is conflicting with IE. If so, try Internet Explorer without add ons

Start> In search box type Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)> Enter

See if it works fine there. If so, one of your add ons is interfering. You will need to see which add on is causing this

Internet Explorer - Enable or Disable Toolbars and Extensions Add-ons

If it works in safe mode with networking, but not with Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), try a clean start to see what is interfering

Some fonts on webpages aren't displaying properly. Either they become jumbled up symbols like in the Strava screenshot attached (when I copy and paste these symbols, they show up as the correct text), or look different like the Tumblr screenshot (extra thin).I've tried resetting Chrome settings (particularly, font/encoding options) by deleting my entire user profile folder, uninstalling/reinstalling Chrome, and trying the beta channel. Everything displays properly on other applications and the same websites are fine in Internet Explorer.

Hi - have done something really stupid and taken all of the fonts out of the font folder cos there were too many. I thought Windows would automatically reinstall all of the ones I needed, but needless to say, it didn't. I have looked online for lists of essential fonts for XP and have reinstalled all of those, including all of the ones with a red A icon and all the ones with MS in front of the name.

Unfortunately I still have a small problem with my printer driver preferences window, which appears to be using a font that is too large and consequently is only displaying the top left quarter of the window. I can't drag the window out to display the rest of the page. The large font is also displaying in some of the information windows with other programs, but not all windows, and the printer pref. is the only one which does not display all of the information.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver (the latest one available online) but to no avail. Do you have any ideas? I have tried the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but I dont know how to put the problem concisely into the search box.

Thanks - Caryn

Here's the problem I'm having:

Even though the Meiryo & Meiryo UI (Japanese) fonts are enabled, they still shows up as little squares in word documents(notepad, etc.) and in song titles(iTunes, Winamp, etc.). However, I can view and type Japanese just fine in web browsers(Chrome, IE, etc.)

Here's the weird part, when I open up the fonts window and click "hide" for both Meiryo and Meiryo UI and then click "show" to enable them, once I restart the computer, I can type and view Japanese just fine...for that session. Once I restart the computer again, the problem returns(they're still enabled), and I have to repeat the process.

Thanks in advance :D

Hello, Forum

I'm not an Office user/abuser, i only use Word (for my College paperworks), PowerPoint (for my College presentations) and Excel (for Personal use in my job).

A few days ago i had to do a Tryptic (i don't know if that's the correct word) but i use MS Publisher 2010 (it has been a while since the last time i used it and it was fine)

I am not at all sure why the languages are as they are in your illustration, but I have done a snip on my Publisher 2010 settings.

For some reason, my screen font/text is not displaying as it should all of a sudden. Although it partly does!?!

In this case, pictures say more than a 1000 words...

See example 1: the files section text is displayed readable, but in the coding window the text is a mess. I know it is an old version of Dreamweaver, but it still work fine for me ;)

See example 2 (Firefox 36.0.1) and example 3 (Safari).

Do you perhaps have a clue why this happens? My search was not succesful :(

When using MS Paint, only the fonts that start with "@" to the font "Kelt" are available for use. I have many more fonts installed than that. When I "hide" one of the fonts that are available, the next one alphabetically become available. What setting do I have to change to make all my fonts usable.

Edited to Add: I checked and the same problem exists in Wordpad also.

Is there ANY solution?

Hi all, hoping for some help please...

Windows 7 64bit Enterprise with latest version of Firefox:

My fonts on various websites aren't displaying correctly in Firefox on my new work laptop (new build so I'm adding my apps from scratch). I've used M&S money as an example - it happens on other websites as well though.

Here's how my new laptop is displaying the links on the main page:

...and here's how they should be displayed (screenshot taken from old laptop)

The culprit font appears to be Arial Black - it's displaying that instead of what looks like just Arial but bold.

I've Googled it, loads of suggestions like delete your profile, re-install Firefox, try resetting your fonts etc; tried all of them to no avail, but I do think it's a Firefox issue as the links display ok in Chrome & IE.

Something I tried which I can't unerstand is that I installed FF Version 3 (found an old installer file) and that displayed the links exactly how they should be, so it appears to be the later versions?

Any help appreciated, it's driving me mad

Twitter not displaying correctly, fonts are all garbled like sticks. I have tried in firefox, IE9 and Chrome. It is unreadable in all browsers and I cannot find a fix anywhere.

Hi,
New to Windows 10 and was fooling around with fonts (no ``save button`? - that`s supposed to be a question mark, not a French accent, maybe part of problem) - now all text (in programs and in browser?) looks like a printer running out of ink. Have played with ClearText type, fonts, display ?tc. etc. When I try to change size in display settings, it`s stuck on 100% (does not slide up or down). Perhaps I need a new monitor? Any help greatly appreciated. P.S. Am in Canada, trying to use the US English keyboard - if I change my location to US and use US
keyboard, would that work? I haven`t got Cortana working yet either because of problems with location and language.

Hello,
For a while now both Firefox and IE do not load website configurations correctly. Lots of problems with images and formatting, which makes it impossible to click on things sometimes or to navigate the website overall. I tried reinstalling Firefox, and tried IE thinking it was a Firefox problem. But instead I think it might have to do with Windows XP and a corrupt file. For a while I was getting an error message whenever I started up my computer, but it just went away on it's own for some reason. Unfortunately I don't remember what it was now. I thought of reinstalling windows but was hoping for an easier solution. I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop version 2002 Service Pack 3.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thank you....Karen

Malware appears to have hijacked my browsers when I click on links within the windows. Your help would be appreciated. On opening browsers they open normally then when links are clicked, pop-unders load and take over the tab and open new tabs. Warning pop-ups display on the screen and they also open new tabs with more advertisements & other ad websites. It is very hard to stay on any one given screen as once the pop-unders open, they disable the page. A new page has to be opened and the links clicked quickly in order to click the links.

Helloy everyone,
so I've been having a huge problem today, none of my browsers (firefox and chrome) are loading webpages correctly anymore. Sometimes the problems goes away if I refresh 3 - 5 times, but most of the times it doesn't or just gets worse. I made some various screenshots and I hope that anyone can help. Here is the link to the album: http://imgur.com/a/yXKzL . I can't insert pictures directly since I need a direct link for that and due to the problems I am having I can't get a direct link to them.

The only thing that has happened differently then normal is that I had four bluescreens in a row today, I ran a programm called "who crashed it" and after finding out what went wrong I googled a solution and ran driver verifier. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but since it occured right after that I thought I would include this bit of information.

Would really appreciate the help!

Since yesterday evening, a lot of websites appear like this (example from Youtube) on every browser:
https://s30.postimg.org/qykc0lzxt/zeze.png

Yesterday I was looking for drivers and I ended up with some bad stuff on my pc, which I scanned multiple times and I removed every visible threat.

I'm not even certain that's the cause because it became like this a few hours AFTER deleting the malware. I was listening to music on Youtube and I remember reloading the page and suddenly it was like this.

I even deleted Chrome at first and I couldn't even reach the download site again because it also gave me an SSL error.

This also suddenly appeared between my listed PC folders and I didn't make any network changes: PVConnect (b-box 3/S)

Things I tried:
Clearing the entire history
Multiple scans
Restarting router and pc
Turning off any antivirus

I don't know that much about browsers and this kind of problems but I would like to get everything back to normal asap!

Hello Guys:

I've come across a pretty weird issue with all browsers on one particular machine (Win XP Pro SP2).

When you navigate around you'll find that most links are not displayed at all (IE8) and sometimes the formatting of the page comes out extremely messed up (Firefox 3). At first I thought it was preventing CSS files from being displayed but some links and general layout appear.

I've tried upgrading IE from 7 to 8, installing the latest Firefox 3 and even tested Chrome so it looks like a computer issue. I ran Malwarebytes and McAfee, McAfee found Adware-180SA and quarantined it while Malwarebytes didn't find anything.

Googling around I found some people with similar issues due to corrupt Winsock settings so I downloaded WinsockXpFix and ran it with no fix to the problem.

I also ran a HijackThis log and didn't find anything obviously weird so I'm posting it just in case I'm missing something.

I'm attaching two screenshots, one of how the faulty browser displays the page and another one of how a regular browser displays it.

Sorry for the lengthy post I wanted to cover all the bases and thanks in advance for your time.

Answer:Browsers not displaying content properly - Win XP Pro SP2

You may still be infected, or this may be an "orphan" entry -- you can use HijackThis to delete it, but it may not remove the parent program >>

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bvfrju] C:\WINDOWS\System32\gaejqrmc.exe

I can't tell from your screen shot what types of links are not being displayed. I would right click on one and select properties -- see if it is a java or flash program of some kind or what the image or link source is.

Try testing in Safe Mode with Networking support.

It may be a firewall or antivirus configuation issue which blocks certain types of script sources.

Hello Guys:

I've come across a pretty weird issue with all browsers on one particular machine.

In particular, downloads.com and bestbuy.com.

Downloads.com has no graphics etc. everything is listed along the left margin of the website. Bestbuy.com displays flash, links etc but certain things are missing(i.e. colored bars).

I have cleared cookies, reset IE etc. I have tried Firefox and Chrome. I have uninstalled IE8 and reinstalled.

Virus scans appear clean.

Greetings,

I am working on a web site and I would like to utilize the amazing alpha transparency support for PNG images. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer is a vastly inferior browser, even with 6.0 and I have run into a snag.

The image displays perfectly in Firebird, but the transparency doesn't show up in IE. Instead I had to use this code:

<img src="images/transparent.gif" style="width: 223px; height: 267px; filterrogidXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='images/benzelMain.png', sizingMethod='scale')" />

Of course, now Firebird can't read this so the image doesn't display at all.

Is there a way to fix this? If not, is there a decently-supported way to display different images in different browsers with JavaScript or some such easy-to-use code?

Hello there,

so, I have the problem that in all my browsers (firefox&chrome) most websites are not displayed correctly anymore. Sometimes the pages show up again if I refresh for 3-5 times, sometimes it just gets worse. I wanted to include pics but yeah, that is not happening. I have the link to the album though, and I can only hope that you guys can then look at the pics: Browser Problems - Imgur

The only thing that has recently happened is that I got 4 bluescreens in a row and with a Laptop that is just over a year old that is not that awesome. I ran a program called "Who crashed it" to find out what was going on, and then ran driver verifier, and it seems to be working, but then this problem happened. I don't know if those problems are related but that's the only thing that has happened differently lately and that might have triggered this.

If someone has any ideas and suggestetions on what to do I would be really thankfull!

Hello!

A few days ago while browsing the internet I noticed that my browser wasn't displaying the websites like it normally does and isn't loading some images. I was using Avast anti virus and ran a full system scan. After that I uninstalled my Avast and installed Avira and reran a full system scan, which did find a lot more then the Avast, but my problem is still occurring. I've enclosed a picture of this website to show you what I see or more so what I'M NOT seeing. While I can still browse ok, it's rather annoying!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, all. I've been having this issue for about a week now, and would really appreciate any help/advice. I think it may be a virus, but I'm not sure.I'm using a Mac OS X 10.5.8, and here's what's happening:While browsing sites, some webpages won't load correctly. Sometimes it'll just load a page of html codes, borked layouts, or mixes of both. Also, there are times when it'll load an image strangely, like there'll be random discolored lines or dots in it, or it'll only load half-way, if at all. It's doing this on Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. I've tried temporarily connecting to another wifi network, just in case the problem was somehow coming from my router, but nothing changed. Here are some examples of what I'm seeing:Image: 1Link: http://baddmage.deviantart.com/art/Hawk-in-the-Night-131228172?q=gallery%3ABaddMage&qo=0Image: 2Link: http://www.scriptfrenzy.orgImage: 3Link: http://www.tumblr.com/dashboard (Someone would need to be logged in to see this one, so I don't know who could make a comparison. I've recently had a problem on just this computer with multiple websites not displaying correctly. At first I thought it might just be a problem with firefox, but I then tried on different browsers and I had the same problem. I reinstalled Firefox, Chrome, Java, and Flash but the problem still persists. On some websites its not quite as drastic as others. Facebook seems to have the biggest problem. Here are some screenshots if they'll help:
Here's what happens when I look at my Facebook profile (the black boxes are just my attempts at blocking private info):

Here's what the login screen looks like on all browsers:

Even Google is somewhat messed up:

I have had a problem with one particular website that I go to frequently not displaying properly. Text overlaps, pictures don't display, everything looks scrambled. I also notice the problem with my Yahoo home page. It's not as bad as the other website, but doesn't look quite right. This just started a few days ago. The main browser that I use is IE9 and this is the one that I started noticing the problem on, but I have since tried Chrome, Opera, and Firefox with the same results. I have deleted temporary internet files and cookies on IE. I reinstalled Java, and Flash but it hasn't made a difference. I have Windows Vista. Is there something else that I could try? Any help would be appreciated.

Alright, so basically today while using the latest Chrome, I started running into problems such as this:

FB | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

It's the same with Photobucket and Myspace that I've found thus far. (I don't use Myspace, I just tested the URL when Facebook started acting up).

I tried it with firefox, and the same thing on all three pages.
Any suggestions? No cleaners or anything have been run since.

Thanks

I am using Dual Platform Mac OS Leopard/PC and PC Side is Windows Vista

Here is what the problem is...

I visited our old company web page when I first started this job as a web designer. I then deleted the old website from our server and in its place I put the new web site. (This is all on the PC side). When I go to view the web site I can see the new page and all of it's contents. No problem right? or shouldn't be.

The next day I am sitting at my desk and proceed to the website. Now the old one is displaying and not the new one in the browser. Confused as anything, I thought maybe someone switched the web page to the old one. So I went to the server and checked the files to see which one was there. The new one was still there and not the old one so there was no reason for it to happen. So I went to my blackberry and checked the site to see what was happening. On my blackberry the new one was showing up and not the old.

I then cleaned my cookies, cache, history etc. to see if this was the problem. Still it was showing the old web page. I even went to the disk clean up under the system tools menu and deleted the older web pages etc.

So I opened and closed the browser, checked it in explorer and the issue was happening with IE as well. I tried checking the web page on other machines in the office and they were all showing the correct site... this told me that this issue is machine specific. I downloaded Safari for PC since I have never viewed this site on... Read more

After a recent Windows Update, the fonts in all of my available web browsers are behaving strangely. In Chrome, I can't read any of the fonts on sites like Facebook (screen shots attached). When I try Facebook in Firefox or IE, it's gigantic and bold?as if I've zoomed in on the page (but, I haven't. I checked).

I read a thread where some were mentioning that this is a known issue, and I deleted/uninstalled some of the updates mentioned (and shut off automatic updates). It didn't make any difference.

I followed the instructions for posting. There were no error messages, however. I'm not sure what that means, but . . . no error messages. I am having to attach several things separately from the CBS folder because it is too large.

Answer:Fonts Unreadable or Large and Bold in Chrome, Firefox, and IE Browsers

There's nothing in either CheckSUR or CBS to indicate any problems.
From the look of your images, it could well be a problem with cached files - I suggest that you try resetting Internet Explorer to default settings and see if that makes the difference.

Some time ago my chrome (and firefox) got much slower and often web sites doesn't load properly (missing graphics) or displaying black artifacts (which disappear when mouse hoover on them).

The worst is that whenever I try to make payment with Paypal it's security system raise flags and block my payments. They say that it might be problem with me using proxies, VPN - which I don't use.
My antivirus (kaspersky) scans find nothing.
CCleaner has found lots of junk and removed it.
AdwCleaner, as the only one has found something that might be potentially root of the problem. It's a Chrome extensions: elicpjhcidhpjomhibiffojpinpmmpil and aoiidodopnnhiflaflbfeblnojefhigh.

AdwCleaner is able to remove it but after reboot it's there again.
Free version of SpyHunter is finding Snap.do - I'm not sure if it might be causing such problems. I can't remove it with any other free software.

Please help as I use this computer for business and I relay on PayPal.
I hope you would be able to help as my Windows XP is in Polish language and many logs might be generated in this language.

I recently changed my favicon on my self-hosted blog. But the old favicon is still showing up as the shortcut on the desktop of my laptop computer after more than a week. The address bar and tab bar are displaying the correct favicon in IE7. I am certain the problem is associated with my laptop computer because my desktop computer, which never “saw” the old favicon, is displaying the correct favicon as a desktop shortcut. Both computers are Dell and have IE7. I have done the following in an effort to fix the problem:

Removed all links in my favorite’s folder and all shortcuts from my desktop, then performed the below four bulleted steps below.
Removed all traces of the old favicon from all folders on my computer, then performed the below four bulleted steps below.

• Cleared my cache manually through IE7 tools.
• Flushed dns with ipconfig.
• Ran CCleaner.
• Rebooted my computer

Made sure CCleaner emptied my Recycle Bin.
Made sure the site address was not protected in my CCleaner.
After the above bulleted steps I saved the links again in my favorites and as shortcut on my desktop.
Did the first step a second time, completed the four bulleted steps again, and waited 24 hours before I added them back to my favorites and my desktop.
Set automatic dns flush to every 4 hours.
Completed a search on my computer, including hidden files and folders, and the old favicon was not found.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, I am a graphic designer, so I have to use helvetica, however, with windows 10 there is an issue. Some sites that use helvetica end up picking a weird version of it. One of them being paypal, uses this awful Helvetica thin compressed.

EDIT - Misunderstanding... I suppose?

Answer:Video Card Displaying Wrong Memory

Not sure you understand the terminology. vDDR2 does not mean you get 3 lots, DDR3 is the TYPE of memory, so if it says 256, thats what you get, not 3 times it.

Why do my thumbnailed folders (with a folder.jpg inside of them) display random images that I never assigned to them? Is there are way to correct this behavior or is this just an XP glitch? Using Tweak UI I increased the amount of folders for XP to store in memory to 10,000 thinking that may solve the problem, but it hasn't.

It's especially frustrating since I spent many hours organizing my Music folders so that they display the correct cover art.
For example, why does my Radiohead folder, which should display an image of the band (which is in the Radiohead folder as "folder.jpg") assign an image of Cindy Lauper, which is in another folder?

Hi! I'm using Win7 in portuguese (pt-PT) and the calculator has some some keys with strange symbols in them. So, instead of the backspace arrow, there's a rectangle, and the "x" was replaced by a square. In scientific mode it's even worse.

I've already restored windows fonts through the control panel. I've renamed the calc.exe.mui and nothing. I've even tried downloading an english version posted in these forums, but it didn't work. Even the language remained the same.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance.

i see the difference.
did you make any changes to your computer recently? you could try a System Restore to a date that you did.

Hi all,I'm running Win XP Pro SP2. After I recently had some trouble with malware etc and sorting out the issues around that ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/138672/still-something-wrong/ and http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/138329/no-more-access-after-running-combofix/ ), now I have one issue remaining (I hope it is only one): ASCII characters >127 are displayed the wrong way (some squares or asian signs instead of usual 'umlaute' in OutlookExpress), if I cut and paste something into Notepad or Excel everything is fine. some system windows are not using their usual fonts, apparently something is changed, just I can't figure what some characters are using wrong sizes, like Nero displays the playing time in a font size that makes it hard to read anything. my explorer cannot access (actually it can access but does not execute double-clicks on anything inside) directories containing ascii >127 anymore, my laptop has no problem with thatThese issues bother me since I got back access to my system in first place (see above). I have no clue what happened and resulted in this, but it is not really nice and giving me a headache as I'm working on both systems usually. Previously this never was any issue.Appreciate any help I can get to sort this out. Thanks, AbuRaouf

Hi,
New here so I hope I'm the correct forum! I use IE and Firefox for browsers. They are both exhibiting the same problems:

The text display and fonts are uneven in all webpages. For instance, in yahoo mail some of the text in the control buttons has a 'strikeout' through it; the checkboxes are not visible to select an email.

When I open Facebook and type text the font is corrupted and illegible, looking like one font is being placed on top of another unevenly.

However, when I type in a search in the Firefox search bar or type in a url there is no problem.

I have changed the font size/zoom properties but the text is still inconsistent and the pages are still displayed incorrectly.

I have tried rebuilding the IronCache file. I have uninstalled all programs that were installed immediately before this problem started (mainly Adobe CS5).

Obviously I can't find the solution. I can have the OS reinstalled but it will cost $100 and I'd rather not pay that at this point

Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated. I have never seen this particular problem before and I've been a programmer for 17 years.

Thanks!

I have a .net application that sends out an email with an appointment calendar (iCalendar) file (.ics) attached to the email. With in the .ics file it contains all of the details about the appointment.

Below is the syntax of the .ics file:

As you can see in the meeting is scheduled for 07/24/2003 at 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

I am located in the (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) time zone and the .net application server is located in the (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) time zone. When I open the .ics file in Outlook or Lotus Notes it says the meeting starts on 7/24/2003 at 9:00 AM and ends at 10:00 AM. But that is not what I set up. It seems like outlook took the time and converted it to eastern time. I do not want this to happen. What ever day and time I set up in the .net application I want this to reflect in the .ics file. Basically I do not want Outlook or Lotus Notes to convert the time to the computers local time. I have tried to play around with the "DTSTART" and "DTEND" date to see if I could stop this f... I bought this computer a year ago and it came with Windows 8, which I upgraded to 8.1 and then 10. Today, I formatted my hard drive and installed Windows 7. This has caused some issues, such as with drivers.

Chrome is not displaying pages as it used to. Text is poorly aligned, often the wrong font, and there are these boxes appearing:

Here is how it displays in IE:

I have already checked encoding and it was using Windows1252 and I changed it to Unicode and nothing changed.
It's not a driver issue either as I already updated drivers and everything works fine in IE.

Not sure if this is a MS issue. Default zoom setting for Edge is 125% but Outlook email is suddenly really tiny in size despite Edge showing 125%. The right hand 30% of the screen is now just empty white space. If I change it to 100% and back to 125% then it corrects until I close and reopen Edge. No other tabs are affected.

Hello,

For some reason the font and size of my outlook express inbox have changed. They are too small, and the font is awful. I would prefer Arial Black, and size 12, but nothing I do changes it. When I open messages, they are fine, arial black and 12. When I send messages, they are fine, arial black and 12. But the font and size of my toolbar and inbox information is too small (probably an 8 or a 6, and a thin spidery font that is hard to read). I can't for the life of me find anything that fixes this problem. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,

Have you opened Outlook Express and selected: Tools, Options, Compose, Font Settings, then set it the way you want it, click apply or OK. If not, give it a try.

Periodically while I am connected to the internet, all my browsers stop loading for no apparent reason. For example, after 30 minutes, I try to go to Google, Yahoo or some other webpage and for some reason, the neither Chrome, Firefox, Seamonkey, IE or Firefox Safe Mode will load that webpage. Each time this happens, all of them fail to load any webpage. And it just pains me when I've typed out a long e-mail and click send and the whole thing fails to send and my whole browser just somehow thinks there's no connection

However when my browsers won't load, other programs can. For instance, I can still sign in on MSN Messenger or Yahoo Instant Messenger and talk with my friends there. So could it be something to do with my internet connection?

I've tried reconnecting my internet connection but it still doesn't work and the only way I can get my browsers to connect to new webpages is if I restart my laptop.

I clicked diagnose connection problems on IE and it said the problem was due to something related to the TCP/IP and it tried to fix it but the problem was still there after it said it had fixed it.

Referred from here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/241183/foreign-picschanges-to-website-pt2/ ~ OBHello. I initially realized this problem existed when I began to see pictures on websites that belonged to other sites. Some of these stood out quite clearly so it was very noticeable. I had dealt with a very similar problem some months ago so I instantly recognized some sort of problem. Some pictures were being omitted completely. I also began to see what I would call "spacing problems" where various aspects of a web page didn't appear right (this web site is suffering from this very problem right now). Things such as writing being cut off or wrapped to another line, pages becoming three times as long because of this, colours being wrong, and possibly a few other minor ones I can't think of at the moment. After attempting some virus and malware checking with avast, superantispyware, spybot, and malwarebytes antimalware there were several problems identified and fixed. The problem persisted, and I came here. It was determined that I had a flash infection (again!) and I downloaded the flash disinfector program and followed the instructions. Some problems disappeared, but not all. At that point I was told to run dds.scr and post it here. I suppose I should mention that I waited 2 weeks to do this, and in those two weeks I've seen the problem improve and worsen, without any sort of input that I am aware of.I would also like to mention that I never let superantispyware finis... Facebook should normally be centered yet it's rendering to the left. Originally this was only happening in firefox, but when i uninstalled/reinstalled firefox, it started happening in all 3 browsers.

and in all 3 browsers, if i zoom one level up or down, it corrects itself, it only happens at the default zoom.

This is my topic at firefox support where i tried to get help. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/qu...#answer-307402

And this is what i've done to try and fix it:

-Cleared cache through all 3 programs.
-cleared offline cache in firefox
-manually removed cache files from computer
-used third party program to clear all cache files from computer
-tested javascript and updated
-tested font size
-removed cookies
-started firefox in safe mode
-checked advanced font settings
-erased firefox profile and made a new one
-erased my antivirus and firewall and tried with none running
-restarted the router 5 times.

So i have tried all of that, and i've had no change. now that it's happening on all 3 browsers this is no longer a firefox issue but a computer issue.

3 other computers in my house do not experience this issue. All 3 are on windows 7, additionally, my 3 android devices (galaxy nexus android 4.0, nexus one, android 2.3, and asus transformer android 3.2) are not experiencing this either.

so now i come here because you guys have been able to help me out before, and i really hope you can now. because this is the dumbest thing i've ever experienced on a computer but it's... Read more
