Port 80 dies randomly, everything else works

Question: Port 80 dies randomly, everything else works

Well... I had a Win 7 Ultimate 64bit on this very machine (the one in my preferences) for almost 3 years until the moment when I said to myself: OK, time to refresh. And that only because my port 80 would die sometimes....sometimes thrice an hour for 10-15 min, sometimes twice a day. But it would happen every day. I re-installed with the hope it was just a bad Win installation but it happened again after just an hour in. What I tried? Well, I certainly tried a new router, but it didn't help. I knew it wouldn't since I also run Linux and OS X in home network and none is affected by this. I scanned old and new Win 7 with every possible malware finder, antivirus..etc. Even bought one (I have an "allergy" when it comes to A/Vs and such in general).. I went drastic today, I disconnected all devices (hdds, usbs, dvdroms, pcie) just to prove my point.. left a single 60 GB SSD with brand new win 7 with default drivers .. Took several hours but I still lost port 80 (it seems to be just port 80 since only browsers and windows LIVE are affected on my system)...Skype, FTP, rsync.. they'll all work just fine while nothing else web-wise does.

Help please! Any suggestions will be tested and reported.

Preferred Solution: Port 80 dies randomly, everything else works

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Port 80 dies randomly, everything else works

What do you mean by "port 80 dies"? skype, ftp all works as you say. So not a tcp/ip routing/connection problem.
If you're having problems do:
in command prompt:
ping www.kpn.nl

Works?

Maybe this is a hardware issue?

Answer:Win XP randomly Dies

You can test the PSU with a multimeter. Do a search on the web and you will find info on how to do this. Also, make sure the memory you put in is good. Download memtest. You'll need to put it on a bootable floppy. Then boot from the floppy and run it. It will run continously. Leave that running overnight. If it is the memory it will tell you. And if it is a problem with Winxp you'll know it because the system won't have locked up. If it does lock up the problem isn't Winxp. But rather a hardware issue.

Answer:router works for 10 min then dies

What model?
Wireless or no?

First, I would try doing a hard reset on the router. If that doesn't work, a firmware update may help. If it still doesn't work, honestly, it could be toast. Still under warranty?

Before i start, I am Running:

WinXP-Pro, Service Pack 3
2.22 GHz Athlon 64 3500+ Processor
2 Gigs of RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Graphics Card

What appears to happen is that once in a blue moon, without any prior warning, the entire computer will lock up solid for about 15 seconds then black screen me and none of my input or output devices will work. That means, Mouse, Keyboard, sound, Monitors, etc. They all die simultaneously. The odd part is, the computer is still working as far as I can tell as the system doesn't even hiccup.

It WAS doing this more than it is now, however it seems to have reduced somewhat. I'm guessing that it has something to do with my power supply as me replacing the 350 watt supply with a 550 watt supply (for a completely different problem) seems to have reduced the occurence of this issue. Instead of happening once or twice a week it now happens once or twice every 2 or 3 weeks. It's still annoying when it happens. Anyone have any clue?

Answer:windows randomly dies

When you boot back into your machine...check the event logs and see whats happening just prior to the failure. If you can, check after a couple of occurrences and see if there are any similarities that might point you in the right direction. Anybody else have an idea?

Question: Y500 randomly dies

Hello, Borught a y500 on amazon a few months ago, its runs great. However, the laptop suddenly just dies randomly, no blue screen, no shut down menu. It just dies, I reboot and check event viewer and its says it crashed(kennel-power). So then I checked for viruses, ran scans for chkdsk, sfc /scannow, and memory diagnostics, everything was fine. It also didn't overheat since the laptop died without gaming at all. The barrtery was plugged in as well I reset windows 8 just to check if its the OS's fault. It just died again today. If it's a hardware issue, what can I do to find out what component of hte computer is wonky? Would the limited warranty help me?

Hello. I am in need of advice once again. I'm staying at my uncles house who uses Keyon internet service so its like broadband with some sort of dish? Anyways...

The speeds were pretty random and slow. Spikes of 3000 pings and averages of 600. Updated the firmware (7 years old) and average is under a hundred now. However the internet still just completely dies for random amounts of time... 2 seconds to a few minutes. Pings timeout to google or yahoo but not my router.

As far as the setup goes, there is a dish or antennae they have aimed a little dish on the roof towards a few miles away. The "modem" is in a plastic box attached to it. The cable runs into literally the cheapest "splitter adapter" ive ever seen, which wont work if you hook up the modem line into "data out" and the router line into "data in", which confuses me in the first place. Shouldn't that be the other way around?

Anyways, I tried wifi and wired connection. I didn't try to bypass the router completely but I don't think it will make a difference. I decided to get a ladder and look at the "modem" and I was a little shocked to say the least. I opened up the big plastic thing that stores it and it literally is just a piece of like motherboard mounted with one little screw, covered in ladybugs and cobwebs. So I sighed and just left it alone.

So now, average ping is very tolerable. 50-100. Speed is at about 2mbps which is fine. I just don... Read more

Hello,
I have a user with a dell latitude d620 laptop. Her external usb mouse stops working every few hours-- apparently when she's doing nothing out of the ordinary, the "installing new hardware" dialog comes up randomly, and when she cancels out of it, the mouse will stop working at a slightly later time. Even the red LED light on the bottom of the mouse goes out.

We've tried different models USB mice, attaching it directly to a USB port on the laptop, via the USB port on the laptop dock, and even with a USB->PS/2 adapter via the dock's PS/2 port.... all with the same results. Every time, when the mouse is working fine, it'll pop up the 'installing new hardware' dialog, and afterwards it just suddenly stops working.

Any ideas? I have no idea what's going on.

She's running windows xp sp3 with symantec endpoint, all the usual office software, really nothing out of the ordinary.
thanks,
Mitch

I just received my new X1 Carbon yesterday. When I booted it up the first time the computer died after I set up username and password in Windows. Next time the same screen appeared but the username was ofcourse taken already. I logged into windows and the computer died. After 10-20 HDD checks the computer logs into windows and I can install some software (Visual Studio etc), but then it just dies again. Sometimes it can't even login to windows before it dies.  I've tried to format and reinstall windows but it doesn't help, sometimes I can use it for one hour, and sometimes just for 10 seconds.  I can't really say that I can see a pattern in this whether I'm using the AC chord or not.. I've also done a memory check and a harddrive check without any errors. I guess I have to return it and wait for a new one.. really disappointing =(  Any ideas Lenovo?

I have an interesting problem. I have cleaned a computer (Windows XP- SP3) of all of it's viruses and malware (using AVG in another computer, then ComboFix, SDFix in Safe Mode, and manually cleaning the registry and checking Services). I have also uninstalled ZoneAlarm, and restored the TCPIP stack with WinsockFix.
After the problems were all gone now no matter what I do after booting, any web browser only works for about 5 minutes, then when you click to go to another page after that it waits for a bit and then just goes to a blank page and says done in the status bar. I can still go to https pages (port 443) and email and chat programs all work, only port 80 dies.
I ran netstat -ano in a cmd box (TCPView also) and I can watch the SYN go out, but nothing comes back (i.e. it is supposed to come back ESTABLISHED).
I also ran Process Explorer and saw nothing out of the ordinary.
I know the hardware is good as I booted to an Ubuntu CD and everything stayed working for 30 minutes.
I had this on another machine 2 weeks ago (fixed it with Ubuntu!), so I think I'll be seeing it again and would rather not have the only fix being to install Windows to a new directory.

I've had this laptop over a year now, and just recently I've noticed when I leave it on a while and come back, either the audio of the entire laptop will die, or online videos just won't play. After restarting it goes back to normal until a few hours later when it happens again. I'm not sure what to do here. Can anyone help me out?

Answer:Audio/Video randomly dies?

You are not alone with this problem, since the last windows 8 update there is sound problems with a lot of PCs. You can try this quick solution here :

You just need to enter to the Control Panel -> security and System -> System -> Device Manager

Then look for "sound, video and game controllers" put the cursor over it press right-click and select "scan for hardware changes"

3 secs after that you will have your sound working again, you gonna need to repeat this procedure every time the sound is gone in your PC and till now it always worked to me.

This should solve your problem for now, we need to wait for Microsoft's next windows 8 update, it hopefully will fix the problem in a more permanent way.

Greetings.

Hi! T420 touchpad dies and trackpoint keeps on working. Sometimes after some time the trackpoint may also die. After boot, touchpad & trackpad recovers and is working maybe for an hour, or a day. Then it reoccurs. This happens randomly on some T420's, while other T420's doesnt encounter it never-ever. Any tips how to troubleshoot this one? Ran Lenovo PC Doctor and everything is fine, also cant find anything suspicious in Windows logs. Thanks in advance!

Not sure if I should post this here or the networking forum but I assume some nice patron will direct me to the correct place if I'm wrong.

For a while now, and for no apparent reason, my internet connection completely dies. But, it's only to my computer. My computer will slow down DRAMATICALLY, stuttering violently as I try to do anything. But if I restart my computer it comes back on as if no problem was ever there.

I am hooked through a router through an ethernet cable and my wife is connected to it wirelessly and she is never affected.

Is this an XP problem, hardware, or maybe even the hardwire ports of my router?

Help! =(

Got my X1 Carbon yesterday. Does have the loose clickpad. Worse issue - it would power down randomly - as in you are typing and suddenly it goes completely dead, as in "lights out" or someone pull the plug type dead. Also does not sleep properly - often when it goes to sleep it dies and you get an improper windows shutdown warning when you restart it. Happens both with AC power and battery power. Was on hold for 1.5 hours trying to reach a sales rep to make an exchange and got disconnected. Tried to do factory restore just to see what will happen but F11 on startup does not work. The notebook looks great but otherwise I can't say I am very happy with my experience.

I've just bought the components for a new PC, and a friend has built it for me. Everything works fine for hours at a time, I can be playing games, browsing the internet, whatever. Then all of a sudden the PC cuts out, exactly as it would in a power cut, except for an almighty fan noise that kicks in and stays on until I hold the power button down to force the power off. When I say an almighty fan noise, I mean the loudest noise I've ever heard a PC make. I thought it was a hair-dryer turning itself on in the room the first time it happened.

Temperature doesn't seem to be an issue, everything's always around 40 degrees, and before I took it home the guy who built it stress tested it for hours up to 90 degrees without any problem. It has always cut out during web browsing (never whilst gaming) although that's probably just a coincidence.

Any suggestions? I literally have no clue whatsoever, what with being somewhat PC illiterate.

Hi everyone, I've been having the same problem for months now and have finally decided to try to get some help after attempting multiple fixes. I use both a wired connection and wireless connection on my new laptop depending on where I am in the house (if I'm hooked up to my docking station its wired, otherwise i'll be on the wireless). The wired connection works fine, but the wireless connection will often completely die on me without any apparent cause. I'm pretty sure the problem is with my laptop due to the following reasons:

1) My dad uses the same connection when he works from home, and told me he doesn't have any problems with it.
2) Just for testing services, I tried using a neighbors WiFi connection, and received the same results.

I've tried changing my DNS server between OpenDNS, Google's DNS, etc. and have not had any luck. I made sure my wireless cards weren't sleeping by un-checking 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. I uninstalled Hamachi to make sure it wasn't messing up any of my settings and still had the same problems. I've updated all my drivers and even re-installed them.

Just to describe what exactly happens during these disconnects, any live connections prior to the point where the internet disconnects stay alive (usually, such as Skype calls, AIM connections, certain games, etc.) and will stay open until closed. Web pages behave in a similar fashion, and in fact will ... Read more

I have a Dell Inspiron 15-5547 running Win 8.1. Every now and then the scroll feature (two fingers vertical swipe to scroll the screen), and the two finger tap for right click, will stop working. When this happens, all the other features on the touchpad seem to work. If I restart the laptop it starts working again. I've tried going into services.msc and setting 'Human Interface Devices" to automatic startup, but it doesn't help. There's something else pretty weird also... When I go into the system tray (lower right), right click the touchpad icon, and select Touchpad Properties, it takes me into the Dell Pointing Devices windows. Inside this window, there is a sliding switch to disable the touchpad. When I disable it, the touchpad still works. Weird. Does anybody have any ideas how I can get this sorted out. I'm also using a wireless USB mouse on the same laptop, not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Answer:Touchpad scroll dies randomly

Hi Jools

Personally I would look to see what touchpad driver version you are using and then either update it with an in-place update, or uninstall (my favourite option, then install new driver) the current driver and then re-install, as it may just be a slight corruption.

Latest driver HERE
Also a thought, when the touchpad stops with the scroll feature, had your laptop been left not used for a period of time, like hibernation?

I've had  a X41 Tablet for about 2.5 years now.  Just recently in the past month it will randomly die on me, meaning it will lose all power (No shutdown screen, nothing).  If I try to turn it back on, nothing will happen.  If I plug in the AC adapter, still no power.  The only way I can get it to start back up is if I remove the battery, then place it back in forcefully or wiggle the battery around while it is back in the slot.  If it does restart, the battery is still charged like nothing had happened.  So  it isn't the battery losing it's charge.  I even tried putting another battery in from one of the X41 tablets in our office after the computer had died and it wouldn't start.  My thoughts are it has something to with the connection on the board.  Any other thoughts or ways to fix this? Thanks,JohnMessage Edited by cranjx on 06-11-2008 10:34 AM

My computer has been randomly dying when i play graphic intense games. (Everquest 2, World of Warcraft, etc) The monitor says no signal and goes to standby and the sound plays the last sound playing for a few loops. I need to hold down the power button to turn it off. Sometimes after this happens the computer refuses to turn on afterwards, i would have to try a couple of times.

I have tried booting with only 1 of the 2 ram sticks (for both) and came with the same results. If the computer was already able to boot, it will. If it wasn't, it wont. I do not have an extra video card to test, and do not want to buy one until i know it REALLY is the problem.

Any input/ suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi!

My internet connection on my Vista machine dies after a few hours. If I restart, the connection will work again, but will die after a few hours again. I've used my computer with several different routers and for example in my friends' home network so I know the problem is in my computer because the internet connection always dies the same way. Usually if I'm listening music from my Spotify, that connection oddly stays on with that, same goes with some java based games like net poker and so on...messenger connection problem diagnostics say that problems are in the ports. Sometimes i've just been too tired to reboot and just kept doing something else with my computer without the internet connection then maybe an hour later the connection comes back to life. This problem is getting kinda old already that it's not funny anymore. Would appreciate if somebody had even a slight suggestion to repair this problem.

I have a Dell Precision laptop running Windows 7. Suddenly in the last week, whenever I print, the Ethernet port on the laptop dies. It has zero link light and it shows that the cable is unplugged. The key to fix is to remove the print job from the queue, reboot the printer and then suddenly I have connectivity again.

This happens when printing to ANY printer that is network-based (not USB) but affecting just this single laptop. I have checked for things like IP conflicts, but not sure why the Ethernet port itself would be killed for that even if it existed.

ok i'll say it plain and simple. i have a philips cdrw800 drive. It used to work (somewhat). At first (aprox. two weeks ago) the bios found could fin and read that it was there. (Now the somewhat not working part) It was always seen as slave even when i had jumpers set to master. When i put it to cable select it still thought it was a slave. i switched to a spare dvd drive i had laying around. The dvd drive worked perfectly no matter what settings i put it at (so not a bad IDE slot on motho or something in bios). So i set my dvd drive to master and my cdrw drive as slave. Bios detected that Right so i tryed it.(Success)"I AM A GENEUS". Now a week after the bios won't detect the cdrw drive at all so does this mean my drive is toast or can i try something. Answer:cd r-rw drive (works somewhat>make it work>DIES???)

Try only connecting the cdrw drive to the IDE cable. Also try using a different power plug for the drive. If the BIOS still can't detect it, I think the drive is toast. You might want to try the drive in another computer (if possible) just to be sure.

As the title says, my mouse stops working for a couple of seconds and then starts working perfectly again. It mainly happens when I am playing BF3, the game freezes for a second, then I hear the usb-removal sound Windows makes and the game unfreezes but the mouse is dead, then game freezes again for a second and mouse starts working. During the moment mouse is dead all other USB connected things works, only mouse that dies.
It has happened a few times before when im not in any game.

Why is this happening? I have never had any problem with this before.
I have tried putting my mouse a different USB port and it helped for a day or two and then it happened again.

Hello there,
I've been pondering around this problem for quite a while now and I finally decided to inquire the mighty crowds of computer wisdom i.e. you all

I've had this exact same problem in my previous system (with Windows 7 32-bit and quite a bit different internals) but it wasn't nearly as frequent as it is now (with Windows 7 64-bit and brand new CPU/MB/RAM/GPU) - however, this problem never happened on my previous box while it had Windows XP installed for a short while. Namely, the audio in Windows would stop working at random, every app that uses an audio interface would freeze when attempting to access any sink, I can't change the volume or mute anything, and I cannot even reset the Windows Audio service (reset times out) when that happens - the only solution is to reboot after which everything works just fine. The only difference between my old system and this one is that now I rarely get the reset procedure to 'freeze' on 'explorer.exe - Playing log-off sound...' (requiring to force restart to continue the process), but now it more often hangs at 'Shutting down...' screen requiring a physical restart.

My audio stack consists of the integrated sound (disabled, I don't need it, but in my previous setup it was enabled) and two USB-based sound sinks, namely Logitech Z Cin?ma speakers (Default Device) and Logitech G930 headset (Default Communications Device). Both are connected directly to the motherboard USB ports so it's not a problem with wonky USB hubs.

Hiyya inco and welcome for starters I am definitely no expert mate I run a straight forward Asus Xonar DG card (the Xonar supports 7:1 systems) with my Ivy B with a Logitec Z 506 speaker set up and I have no probs at all, and it is a fairly cheap card at that.
Now I don't know what your audio set up is and it sounds like Ben Hur to me but just as a suggestion why not try a different brand card? I just really like the Asus control module that comes with mine and Asus do a really nice range of sound cards.

I am just getting a gut feeling the Logitec card is not the full dollar.

Hello, I've been having this problem for a little while now, and I figured this would be the right section to post it in (if not, please feel free to move it). This is the problem I've been having. While playing a 3D game, after a short while, one of 3 things will happen :1. The screen goes completely black and I'm left with no choice but to restart my computer.2. Similar to number one, except now the screen has random blocks of crazy colors all over, and I'm still left with no choice but to restart.3. The computer saves me the trouble of having to hit the power button, and just goes ahead and instantly restarts itself (screen goes black for a sec, and then I'm on the start up screen). And one more problem that I've chosen to separate from those 3; sometimes my computer just completely freezes and I need to restart. This happens seemingly randomly, at any time.I suspect this has something to do with a new video card I installed recently. it seems to happen most often when playing video or playing facebook games of any type. there is no warning the computer is just OFF. it has done this in safe mode as well and i wasn't even watching video or playing any games then. the only time it has done this before it was over heated. now sometimes it is hot and others it is not so it really seems random. no viruses, no malware, regular maintenance is kept up. if i can find a solution other than formatting the machine that would be great, or at least knowing if formatting would do me any good at all. i have downloaded hijack this and the TSGInfo follows:

Hi there,

I can't seem to figure this problem out. Every so often (from seconds to a couple minutes) my internet connection will fail, but only for less than a second. Typically no one would even notice this, but it becomes a problem when you use software like Messenger or you play games online. The disconnection is long enough to sign you off.

I've been watching a ping I set to yahoo.com for a good 10 minutes, and sure enough, there are occasional spots where for just 1-3 attemps it will time out, then get replies just fine again.

I use a wired ethernet connection, not wireless. The ethernet port is part of my motherboard, its a fairly modern motherboard, not an old one, and I made sure the driver for it was up to date. Any ideas?

My computer is being extremely odd right now. Randomly, usually while gaming but at other times also, it will just die. When this happens, it kinda just freezes while repeating the same sound on a loop. It loses all video and sounds like all the insides shut off. When it does this, hitting reset doesn't really work, and usually I cannot turn it off and back on. If I try, I get no beep in POST which indicates to me it would be CPU or MoBo...maybe a power supply?

If I unplug the power from the back for a minute, I can restart it and it will go through POST with the beep and all, and say CPU is unworkable or has been changed, and then play fine for anywhere between 5 minutes to many hours with no problems, then it will happen again.

I cannot tell what wattage my PS is. I built most of this computer about 5 years ago, and have since modded the power supply case, and lost the sticker. The CPU is the original one I got when I built it, the MoBo is 4 years old, and the video card is new.

CPU Type Intel Pentium 4, 3000 MHz (15 x 200)
Motherboard Name Abit IC7-G (5 PCI, 1 AGP Pro, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)
System Memory 3072 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS (256 MB)
Audio Adapter Creative Audigy SE (SB0570) Sound Card

I come here to find the experts to help. I cannot afford to change everything or build a whole new computer, so I'm hoping someone will have had this problem before and save me lots of money by telling me what... Read more

I have Lenovo T500 Thinkpad for around one year. The laptop started to die randomly without any notification, no blue screen, no shut down, it just dies as if there is no power to the laptop. First I thought it could be a problem with the battery so I replaced my battery with the battery of another Lenovo T500. Even after that the problem persisted. So I removed the battery and just connected the laptop to AC power. The laptop does not die any more and I didnt face any issues. What could cause a problem like this? Whenever I connect the battery, the battery icon on the task bar says its charging and even if I use the battery alone the laptop works fine for sometime until it dies randomly. Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Hi Everyone

In my previous house I would lose connection to the internet about 2-3 times a week. Since moving into my new house it happens more like 5-15 times a day. The internet light on my modem goes out and the broadband light blinks on and off.

95% of the time when I lose the connection it is for less than 2 minutes. But on some occasions it can take a half hour to work again.

Some more info:
- It happens on all 6 computers/devices in my household at the same time. (2 Macs, Win7 PC, iPad, iPod, PS3).
- All devices are connected wirelessly to modem. But, I have also tried Ethernet and still have same problem.
- I have tried 2 modems (including a brand new one that my ISP sent after I complained).
- I have tried using different jack points and cables.
- When the connection fails, I am still able to wirelessly access my modems config page. So wifi connection is not the issue.
- My ISP sent a technician out. He replaced one cable out by the road, but this did not solve the problem.

I have spent a few hours over multiple days on the phone with my ISP. First they said there was no problem with the line. Then they said there is definitively something wrong with the line. Then nothing wrong, then something wrong. Finally after they monitored the line for 3 separate 24 periods, they decided that the problem was solved. And I thought so too... I had good connection for about 36 hours. But then it started failing again, so far today I have lost connection about 10 times... Read more

Hi,

I have one laptop with Windows XP on it. The problem is that keyboard and mousepad both all together die randomly but usb mouse still works. This error occurs randomly. Not everytime i use the computer.

Anyone got the same problems?
Thanks in advance!

Answer:Keyboard / mousepad on laptop dies randomly

well based on the info provided my first guess would be that the keyboard is shot.... or ... if its a toshiba TE 2000 it might be the connector that the the keyboard ribbon connects to might be loose and need resoldering...but that would be the only 2 i can think of right at the moment... let us know how you fix it so it can possibly be of help to others

Hey guys,

So I'm using an ASUS notebook N61Jq to which I've hooked a mouse and a keyboard to. Now very recently, my usb port that I was using for my keyboard stops working suddenly. The only way I've been able to fix this problem is to restart my laptop, but for some reason, I have to hold down the power button because it won't restart by itself. Even if I use this method to try and fix it, my usb port will stop working again after a few minutes.

Is anyone able to tell me why this is happening and what I can do to permanently fix the problem? The laptop is fairly new, so I'm really not sure what's wrong =/

Help would be appreciated

Thanks!

Answer:Usb port suddenly dies, no permanent solution.

have you tried to reinstall the USB drivers?

or try this step that i used on one of my friends lappy..

- Unplug all the cables that are connected to your laptop
- Remove the battery of your laptop
- leave it for 5 min
- Plug everything back and turn your laptop on.

hope it works, Goodluck!

Hello...

I have just carried-out a somewhat poor attempt at reinstalling XP. However, most things seem to be working...ish.

After this reinstall my internet connection has an irritating habit of not working. If I turn off my router/modem and turn back on, browser then works fine. However, if it is left briefly it will then be unable to connect again without rebooting router/modem again...

Presumably something elementary...any ideas?

Thanks.

Hey.

I have recently gotten a very weird problem that I can not get rid off.

When I start the computer cold I can access homepages thru internet explorer and firefox, (both are set to find internet settings automatic), but after a short period of time (can be all from a minute to 10-15 minutes) my internet browsers "dies". No 404 error or Timeouts, no loading of the page either. The browsers loading icon, the waving flag in IE and rotating dots in Firefox, just flashes and then return to its static position.

When I have proper internet connection, I have a UPnP Gateway that "works" but when my internet connection has "died", it says under properties that it "does not work" (sorry guys that I can give word-for-word since I am on a japanese OS).
Even when the internet connection does not work, I can PING any working site with success and even TRACERT.

First I thought that the ADSL Modem might be broken so I called my ISP and got a new one. Same problem.

My Specs are;
Dell Dimension 8200
Core 2 Duo E6300
1GB RAM
XP Media Center 2005 (Jap)
NOD 32

No Firewall
No Router, the Computer is connected directly to the ADSL Modem

Due To the ISP settings, the computer is set to Automatically receive internet settings, always this;
Computer IP: 192.168.0.2
DNS : 192.168.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Thank you very much!

Answer:Internet Connection works after Cold start but then dies

It sounds like you have spyware/malware. Download ad-aware and scan, And see if it detects anything. If not then it is probably a SOCKS problem.

I got this laptop 2 months ago and it worked just fine but lately it's been dying randomly (the battery was at 98%) for absolutely no reason, no prompts all i can hear is a sound coming from the hard disk just as if the laptop was force shut down by holding the power button key. The laptop temperatures weren't high at the time (mostly all components @ 45°C). I use this laptop for college and it's been REALLY unreliable & I can't return it at this time since I'm at a dorm and i don't think it would even get a RMA since it happens randomly (you can't expect it at all - i only had word and microsoft edge opened and poof it's dead) - also i can always start it again instantly but SOMETIMES it dies again in the booting process. Also I successfully ran an Aida64 stress test until the battery died normally (it did NOT shut down). Any suggestions on what i should do? Edit: oops i sent this twice by accident

I have had my 3000 N100 Thinkpad for around 2 years now and after a year and a half I realised the Battery was no longer charging, soon after this happened my Laptop would just die randomly, when I say die I mean there is no shutdown screen  it is as iff all power to the p.c. suddenly stopped. At first I though it must be a Virus but after numerous scans and re-installing Windows the problem re-occured, Today I opened the P.C. and checked the fan as I thought maybe it was over heating and eventually giving in, I was relieved to see a load of dust and used the vacumn to clear the fan.I thought that would fix the problem but now if anything it seems worse, I know the battery is dead as the charge level is 0 and the battery indicator on the front of the laptop flashes 5 times organge before disappears completely...In a Final attempt I have disconnected the battery completely and am now running it only on the power adapter, I don't know if this will work but I need to do something...What could cause a problem like this, all of my settings are correct my power settings are set to always on with no hibernation.Any help will be wonderful. Thanks

Maybe the battery just went bad. The only way I can think of to test it would be to try the battery in another Lenovo 3000 or to try a new battery in your Lenovo 3000.

I've had this laptop for about 2 weeks, and have Windows 10.  A couple of days or so ago, I unplugged it and took it into another room to use.  It was on battery at least 6 hours with no problems.  It's been plugged in since then. I just looked at the battery meter and it shows only 35% power remaining.  Why is it not fully recharged by now?

Yet another problem with my peice of crap i call the "computer".

I got a new monitor at xmas, hoping to solve the problems i was haveing with my old one too no avail however.

Sometimes when im playing games etc it just looses the signal from the computer. Im using a 9800 pro 128MB graphics card, and cant understand why this is happening. The computer is still running fine though. It just wont display anything. Why could this be? I only got the card 3 months ago, it shoudlnt be doing this. It also at random intervals decides to artifact and under both circumstances i have to switch off for a while and wait before it will work again.

Things ive checked.

The card i sseated properly.
uninstalled it and reinstalled it
using latest drivers.
Using Direct X 9c
On board VGA automatically disables when AGP card is plugged in.
when uninstalled it seems to run fine from the motherboard connection (Hence im thinking dodgy card)
The car dis connected to the power supply as is nescessary.

Im totally stumped here. I can live with the situation but its not ideal, especially whe im playing gamesa and it just dies on me. Its as though the card is stopping sending the signal to my monitor.

Could this be a dodgy card? If so who do i contact about it? The place i bought the card from, or the manufacturer??

Any help would be great. Thanks.

I've been having an issue with my X270 laptop since I bought it. The laptop is running Windows 10. What happens is randomly (this can take weeks, or days) the trackpad and pointing stick completely stops working. The only solution is to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them using an external mouse. I've tried various versions of the drivers, including the latest, and it still continues to happen. Any solutions to fix this?

the last two days my machine has suffered a crash with similar symptoms. First, the display goes blank. I can see some disk activity. This continues for maybe 20-30 seconds and then the machine shuts down. Yesterday, I had to restart the machine twice b/c the first attempt also resulted in a shutdown during the boot process.I thought that perhaps it was an overheating issue, but I'm not convinced of that as today there was nothing obstructing the exhaust vents (though they were a bit dusty).I'm runing windows 7 pro, 64 bit. Have an NVidia card, but I don't know about the details. Where would I find them? Thanks in advance.

If it is a W510, graphics are probably 1GB NVIDIA® Quadro® FX880M.  It is hard to diagnose from a thousand miles away, but my first guess is overheating. I suggest installing TPFancontrol (free) and monitor temperatures.

Hi Dsieber,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per your query we understood that you are facing issue with No boot on ThinkPad T400.

This might be issue with display resolution.

Check booting the system in safe mode.
If the system is able to boot to safe mode then uninstall display drivers and check.
Check if can connect to any external display (TV or Monitor) to verify if the system is booting.

Hope this helps.

I bought new pc parts this week and also bought Windows 10 Home while I was at it, due to W7 not accepting USB 3.0. But shortly after, I started having bad audio problems when using my headset, which is connected to my motherboard's rear 3.5mm output.

The symptoms consist of:
- The audio cutting out suddenly after just a few minutes of usage, e.g. 30 seconds of youtube, combined with the microphone not picking up any audio.

- Sound panel not responding occassionally or becoming sluggish. Can pop up later when clicking on things like browser tabs.

- High Definition Audio Device disappearing from choosable outputs in the notification area.

- Realtek High Definition Device disappearing from the Device Manager.

- Random pop-ups saying that I've either unplugged an audio device or I've plugged in an audio device multiple times in a row.

- Sound panel showing activity from both random thing I'm playing, and the Test Sound button, but no sound actually playing in the headset.

- Usually the sound cuts out with a small crackle, but other times it's completely silent when it happens. When loading the desktop I can hear some crackling too.

- ARK: Survival Evolved crashing, giving me a memory write error, followed by a notification of a decive being plugged in instantly after.

I've tried:
- Installing the latest drivers through windows update, realtek's latest drivers, motherboard's latest drivers and various .cab updates being rejected because the drivers "are up to date&... Read more

I have dual monitors......my primary display monitor is a Chimei CMV223D
My secondary display monitor is an Acer AL1916W.

My graphics card is an HD ATI Radeon 5800.

PROBLEM:

My primary display monitor which usually has a display resolution of 1680x1050 is currently stuck on 640x480 and in the property settings it won't let me change the resolution. The cable running from the Graphics card is an HDMI cable with a HDMI/DVI converter. I have also tried using the DVI port of the video card to the DVI port of the PC which comes up with same problem. Using a DVI/VGA converter and a VGA cable the VGA port on the monitor works fine!!! SOOOO long story short there is definitely something going on with the monitors DVI port.........

This randomly occurred overnight and is driving me insane to know what I need to fix. I have used different cables and to no such luck. My secondary monitor is just humming away just fine! But I really need my primary display.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled video drivers for the graphics card which is the Catalyst control centre suite and all monitor drivers appear to be up to date.

WHY oh why is my monitor locked at this resolution!!??? How to fix please help!!!

This question has been asked by countless people, and the Internet is filled with a wild array of answers.

If you bought an HP system many years ago, and it came with Windows XP, and you have the re-installation disc, if your system dies or needs to be recommissioned because it's unreliable, can't you use the re-installation disc to install the OS onto the new system? I've heard some limitations are involved but I don't know fact from fiction on these:

1. You can reinstall only IF you upgrade the system with the same motherboard because the key for the install is tied to the serial number of the motherboard.

2. You can reinstall only if you move the hard drive of the old system to the new one (which for me would be impossible because the old drive is IDE and the new one is SATA).

3. You can reinstall only if the new computer is a model from the same vendor (e.g., if you have the reinstall disc for a Dell computer it will only work in another Dell computer).

4. If you call MS customer support and explain that your system's motherboard has died they will "reactivate" the license for you on the new system.

5. You can't do it in any scenario because your EULA will state that you agreed to install the OS on the one computer and agreed it would not be used on another system.

Anybody have any definitive answers on this issue?

Answer:T or F: Your OEM license for Windows XP dies when your system dies.

True...simple answer to your topic title.

Hi there
Anybody use SKY GO on their computers -- I find it works fine on W7 and even W8 but it doesn't always work on W8.1 -- some machines --fine, others -- no way. Same software (Windows 8.1 Enterprise). SKY GO won't register the computer even though there's NO devices already registered and the device limit hasn't been exceeded.

I've been trying to get this stuff working on a few colleagues computers - based in UK so it's not a licensing / out of area issue.

SKY in their usual "helpful selves" say W8.1 isn't yet supported -- but it certainly works an several machines such as HP and ACER. With LENOVO and DELL it just fails to work at all.

Anybody else have issues with this.

(Works fine on Android tablets and phones - it's only on PC's where there seem to be an issue).

When I try to log on MSN sometimes it just keeps trying to resign in, it will connect and almost right after (before the contact list even has time to load) it will disconnect, it will continue on this cycle for a very long time. But other times it randomly works perfectly....untill i restart my computer and usually have the error again.

When I tried to use windows messenger, i found no problems.

Any help would be great because I use MSN alot! Thx

Answer:MSN - randomly works/doesn't

I had that problem once. I don't remember the details of the solution, but it had to do with Internet Explorer's Internet Options Setting. The problem was detected by running some (free) tests at PC Pitstop:

I recommend you bookmark this site; I have found it extremely useful on a broad range of subjects. Once, the diagnosis included some advice like "your computer is too old to consider upgrades. A new computer would be cheaper." It was correct of course, but embarassing that a machine somewhere out there on the 'net could make that determination that I didn't want to admit.

Good luck!

If I plug cable 2 into my ethernet port 3 and cable 1 into any other port I get internet access to my desktop and not my labtop. If I plug cable 1 into ethernet port 3 and cable 2 into any other port I get internet access to my laptop only. I have searched all over the internet for help with no success. Please assist me if i can and thank you for the help.

My USB mouse works on only one USB port. When I plug it up to any other port, I get Windows could not successfully install the driver error message/window.

I know the USB mouse driver is built into Vista, so I don't understand why it's doing this. How do I resolve this problem?

TIA

Answer:USB Mouse works only on 1 port

Will any other USB device work in these other port(s)?

Over the past week my Internet has been dropping out after half an hour to an hour of being connected. I can't access any websites on either Internet Explorer or Firefox but MSN and downloads still continue to work. When I restart my computer it is connected to the Internet again but as this has to be done so frequently it gets very annoying.

I am running Vista but have never had these problems before. The other computers in my house are working fine and even my brother's laptop isn't having these issues even though it's the same model as mine. Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem is and how I could fix it? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Internet drops out randomly but MSN still works

I can't access any websites on either Internet Explorer or Firefox but MSN and downloads still continue to work.Click to expand...

Fully describe the IE and FF failures to access AND we must assume a connection to MSN is already established before the first IE or FF failure.

Try this sequence as documentation;
get a CMD prompt (run->cmd)
enter nslookup google.com
run MSN and IE/FF until failure
rerun nslookup google.com
If (b) retrurns IP addresses and (d) fails, then your DNS has been changed

You are missing out on important Windows Updates.
Either Download: Windows XP Service Pack 3.
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=24

It would be best to download SP3 and burn it to a Cd [Cd-R]
Once installed - go to Windows updates - let it scan and install all needed updates.

Or turn on Automatic Updates.
How to configure and use Automatic Updates in Windows

Once the above has been done.
Download Security Check by screen317

Save it to your Desktop.

Double click the install icon.
A command Prompt window will open.
Let it scan the Pc - press any key when asked.
It should now open in Notepad - and will save a log called checkup.txt.
Post the result of the scan here.

Folks,

There is something very odd going on with JUST ONE of my USB 3 ports (one of the two on the front panel) on my new system that has a "clean" install of Win 10 Pro. A few days ago I tried to use that port and Windows did not recognize any USB drive that I inserted. There were no error messages and Device Manager was not complaining about anything (and did not "see" the drive). I was about to assume that this was a hardware problem and that something had gone wrong on the motherboard. (I believe - but I'm not positive - that this port was working fine when I first got the system...)

As a final test, however, I tried booting the system from a Macrium Reflect "recovery" USB drive that I had made some time ago. [This was a Verbatim drive - see below.] Amazingly, I was able to "boot" perfectly from the supposedly-dead USB port! Then, after restarting the system with Windows 10, I inserted that same USB drive and it was recognized then also. BUT still no other USB drives are recognized. [Not quite correct - see below.] All other USB 3 & USB 2 ports work fine, so I assume the USB driver is fine.

Would anyone have an idea what my be happening and/or how I might trace down this odd behavior?

Thanks, Wayne

Hi All,I have an IBM A31(2652-P3M) and I'm trying to use it as a GPS terminal for 4x4 driving. Most new laptops don't have a serial port to hook into my gps so this one is good in that respect.But... the serial port on the laptop doesn't work. Only the serial port on the dock  (Type 74P6733) works. Unfortunate the laptop with the dock is too big to mount in the car.Is there any reason why the port on the back of the laptop itself doesn't work? Is there some software, hardware or bios switch that controls which serial port works? Thanks for your help,Ashley

Answer:A31 Serial port only works on dock..?

Answer:i reinstalled windows. now only 1 usb port works

For future reference, it greatly helps other people help you if you include your system model and operating system.  I'm assuming the latter is Windows 7 based on the screenshot (and since everything newer has native USB 3.0 support), but the only hint of your system model is the partially chopped off Service Tag in your screenshot.  It looks like the support.dell.com site is having issues as I write this though, so even if I guessed it correctly, I wouldn't have a way to send you a link to the driver -- although that probably explains the Dell Detect application not working right now.  But fyi if the site starts working, even if Dell Detect still doesn't work, just click the "Find it myself" tab shown in your screenshot and choose your OS.  The USB 3.0 drivers will probably be under the Chipset section, but they'll be clearly labeled wherever they are.  You can just click "Show all" and then search the page for USB.

I'm curious about how port forwarding works. I get the general gist of it and NAT. However what im really wondering is how when im playing world of warcraft on my computer and my brother is playing on his computer at the same time, the packets get where they need to go. wouldnt wow be sending return packets to my external ip with the default port, how does my router know which computer to pass the packets along to.

Answer:Question about how port forwarding works

It answers not to default port. Run netstat on both PCs and maybe you will understand something. Source port not same as destination, by this router knows where to answer because source ports on both PCs for tcp communication are different then connection established. This have nothing common with portforwarding. Its absolutely other question.

Laptop running vista, it has two USB ports on it. Recently both USB ports stopped working and had no power to them either, I couldn't see them in computer or in disk management, I tried updating all drivers and also tried removing all USB from registry and rebooting system but still no change to the problem, i tried a Microsoft fix it tool which said hardware wasn't being recognised and although it claimed to have fixed it ,it hasn't ,and after reboot I tried the tool again and got the exact same result as the first time. Then I remembered that the very last thing I plugged into the USB ports before this problem was my cctv dvr ( stupid I know but I wanted to see if I could access it this way) I realised that since I plugged in the dvr the USB ports hadn't worked ,and so I plugged in the dvr again into one of the ports and just like before nothing happened, but then I plugged in a variety of other devices into the other USB port whilst leaving the dvr plugged in at the same time and all the other devices that I tried worked straight away and they show in both my computer and in disk management and they have drive e allocated to them, how can I get both USB ports to work properly without having to plug my dvr into one port just to get the other single port working ? It may work fine for an hour, then the wireless network card disconnects. Every now and then, or every 10 minutes, depends on the day i guess.
i've been reading lots of forums about this and found nothing to work so far
this is what i tried:
-everything is on maximum performance
-i unclicked "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
-disabled some "ip helper" in services
-checked everything that has to do with the router (changing channels, interference with other routers or wifi's), the hardware part SEEMS just fine(the laptop is pretty new, it has like an year and never had any problems with it)
-checking for drivers updates, it says that i have the latest version
-fully scanned the laptop for viruses and none was detected
-didn;t install any program lately that might cause this
-network signall is excellent
And still nothing worked. NOTHING. I'm really desperate right now. The only thing that makes the network work again almost instantly (like5-10 sec while if i let it restart by itself it takes from 2 minutes to even 30-40 minutes) , is turning off and then on again the wireless network card (i do that by pressing the airplane mode button)

I've had this sound card for a while (in fact my friends has the exact motherboard and sound card as me). But the sound for a long time has been working randomly and I can't determine the problem. Windows will have sound (e.g. button clicking, error message sounds, ect...) but it fails to play video audio at random times with no explanation. Online streaming videos and Flvs will also work even when it can't play other videos and MP3s. I have the latest driver for it and it does play fine most of the time. But prolonged use seems to make it act up although it sometimes works normally again (not sure if that means it's overheating but I would think if it was it wouldn't randomly work again). My friend with the same motherboard/sound card has the same problem. Below is a link to the card I purchased (got it about one or two years ago now):

Hi all,

Most of the time, I can't get any sound in my headphones. Sometimes it works, though, depending on Windows's launch. I mean, if it works, it will work flawlessly as long as I don't restart my laptop.

Config:
Toshiba C660-2D6
Windows 7
Realtek HD Audio
NVIDIA HD Audio

I have the latest version of the Realtek driver installed, yet Realtek Manager doesn't detect my headphones plugged in. They actually don't even show up in the sound devices window, even when sound works through them. I have screen captures available of what the software says with headphones jacked in, but I can't get them show up here. The "Insert image" thing doesn't seem to work. Here are the URLs anyway:

Realtek | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
Gest_son | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I only have this problem with Windows. I have Ubuntu installed in dual boot and sound works perfectly, both in speakers and headphones. So, I know it is not a hardware problem. My wife has an ASUS with Realtek and NVIDIA installed as well but with old drivers, and she doesn't have any problem.

Any help appreciated!

I have an m93p and it has 2 display ports on the motherboard but only one works. Is there some setting I am missing to enable the other? I have a DVI to dual VGA splitter coming from the GPU and both monitors work but when I switch to 2x DP->DVI cables only 1 monitor gets a signal. I have switched the cables around to to rule out the monitor being the issue. It seems that one of the two ports simply does not work.

Answer:m93p with dual displayport only one port works

My team and I have just purchased these same computers along with two 1440p displays and have come across the same issue. We are only able to get one displayport working no matter what we have tried in the BIOS. We even tried using a Nvidia Geforce GTX 620 along side the integrated graphics and still we can not get two monitors to work over displayport.

I received my X1 Carbon 5th Gen just a few weeks ago. Today, a thunderbolt 3 port next to an LED suddenly died and seems to no longer accept any devices. I tried 4K monitor and some other USB devices thourgh a USB type C hub connected to the port, but nothing worked. I tried with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 17.04, the port no longer works with any operating systems. Interestingly, Windows 10 now thinks it's connected to AC power even when nothing is actually connected to the Thunderbolt 3 ports. Therefore I strongly suspect this is a hardware issue. Does anyone have a similar problem?

Many new computers are coming without parallel ports. I have already run into a situation where the owner wants to run his parallel printer on his new HP Pavilion that has no parallel port. I put in a Rosewill PCI-to-Parallel adapter I got from Newegg; but, it gives errors on installation and has an exclamation point in Device Manager. Also, the printer doesn't work on that port.

Yes, I downloaded the Vista driver from Rosewill today and when it didn't work out okay, I downloaded again to eliminate possibility of corruption in the download process. I have three of these cards and none work.

Has anyone here had any success with putting add-in parallel cards into a Vista machine? If so, what brand did you use and where did you get it?

I am a PC tech and have been for 8 years now. One problem I have come across pretty frequently but have yet to figure out a cause for is printer issues related to the port selection. I have had numerous customers who randomly can't print. Upon looking at their computer, the printer port will be selected on "LPT1" instead of the proper USB or TCP/IP port. I have not been able to find any correlation. This happens on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 on both business and residential computers. Originally I had thought that customers must be attempting repairs on their own. However, after 8 years and seeing this same thing happen to people who are afraid to even attempt to fix their own issue I believe that there must be some bug in Windows that causes this printer port to change. Anyone have any ideas for this behavior or has anyone even seen this?

Also, the fix to this problem, of course, is to simply select the correct port and the problem is resolved. If there are any jobs in queue, they immediately will start to print indicating that there was most likely never a PC to Printer communication problem. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Answer:Windows Bug? - Printer randomly sets self to LPT port

Well that is strange... I've dealt with people for 5 year and haven't had this issue come across. I've been dealing with windows for years, a lot more then 5, more like 13 and haven't had a printer randomly change from USB to LPT1. Lucky I guess. I'll see what I can find on this.

Hi Community, I am in a trouble with my IDEAPAD V460, 59 - 044185 (4th one from the beginning) which I purchased around a couple of years back. It was working fine without this annoying issue until recently. This partiular model comes with three USB ports, two on the left side, one on the right side.Since around last 15-20 days, any device plugged into any one of the two USB ports on the left hand side of the laptop is getting disconnected randomly. I use an iBall 4*1 USB hub to connect one keybaord, one mouse and one modem to any one of the USB ports on the left side. Initially I thought it to be a software issue. But reinstalling the OS or even switching over to other OS did not solve the issue. To probe more, I refrained from using the hub and connected two of the mentioned devices directly to the left side ports. Still, the problem persists, but the frequency of disconnection is less. Sometimes, the devices gets reconnected, sometimes do not. That is also in a random fashion. One of my friend having a Y500 model also having similar issue. As you can understand, given the number of USB devices we use everyday, it's hampering my day-to-day activity. Two years being passed, I am out of warranty. I found that there are so many people around here also having same or similar issues. Presently, my perception is that those to USB are not being able to pull out enough power to maintain +5V and causing this random disconnect. Any idea what to do?

Well, i didnt click there, instead I instinctively moved it to the next port to make sure it wasnt the mouse screwing up, well, that worked, and i went about my merry business, not thinking anything of the dead usb port.

well, now, the second usb port has crapped out with the same message, and ive tried everything to get it to work again, but troubleshooting it through windows is stupidly pointless, and so im coming here for help.

so, please help me? im down to 2 usb ports to run the mouse on, im not sure if the other 2 run anything else, as i dont have many other usb devices, but once i get home i will plug in my flash card, and see if anything comes up, and give you all some further details.

thanks so much

-Drew....

oh my god, this one just stopped working, its still powering the device (the red led light is on) but its not responding to mouse movements.

somebody help quick! or i will be down to my touchpad!!

Answer:usb mice randomly die by port. running out of ports!

well did you guys scare it into working or what?

I was just about to system restore, and decided to check one last time to see if it was working... it is... so im going to let sleeping dogs lie, thanks anyways.

Hi, I have a strange problem with my internet connection. When I connect to the Internet everything works fine until I open a second tab in my browser (have tried with IE, Firefox and Chrome all latest versions and latest flash player). After I open a second or more tabs my connection becomes really slow. It takes forever to open a website! The strange thing is that the speed sometimes is ok and then it becomes very slow just to work ok again? I think the speed is improved if I clean my computer using CCleaner and use the command Ipconfig/Flushdns (sometimes it works, sometimes not). I use WiFi, but the problem also occurs If I connect directly to the router. I have a second computer (older) which works fine with WiFi so I do not think it is the router or the internet connection in general (have 24Mbit connection - downloading files goes very quickly, it is just loading webpages that is slow). I might also add that I have updated all drivers using the Lenovo solution centre.... One other thing which might be connected to this problem is that sometimes my internet connection is lost for a short while but recennects again by itself within a few seconds. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey,

I have a HP dv6000 with a 4 GB RAM and Intel Core2 Duo @ 1.50 GHz processor. I have Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit operating system.

Sometimes the laptop gets stuck and then none of the keys or the mouse works. Yesterday I was watching a movie and the same thing happened but the movie didn't stop. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how it can be solved?

Today morning the laptop wasn't booting and then later I took out the battery and reinserted it and it worked. Are these two problems somehow related?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Answer:Laptop gets stuck randomly and none of the keys or mouse works

I would suspect a corrupt graphics driver. Reinstall the driver, reboot and run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

Hey,
My desktop is connected to my router via cable. And it randomly gets disconnected from time to time. I've tried re-installing drivers. I get the red X on my network icon in the taskbar, which usually happens when a cable is unplugged. I fixes it self after a minute or 2, its never longer than 1 minute, usually 10-15 seconds, and it happens ever 10-15 minutes.

My wifi works fine, and I have a vonage box connected to my main router which works fine too. It's just my desktop. I've tried different ports, same problem.

I'm heading home in a few hours and I've picked up a new 5 meter cable to check with.

What else could be the problem if the new cable doesn't fix it.

My network adapter is the on baord one on the Asus Maximus Formula.

Thanks.

Answer:Network randomly disconnecting. Wifi works fine.

Seems to be something wrong within the cable or could be the network card within your pc? Did you try the cable on any other pc or that?

I've had this problem for some time now, and I'm losing my freakin' mind trying to find a fix for it. I've searched everywhere for an answer, and I can't find anything that works.

It happens like this... I'll be browsing along and wind up on YouTube, watch a couple of videos and then the audio just quits. Not like it stops working in the middle of a video, or it stops working after a video finishes. The audio will work for a couple of seconds after I start the video, but then it'll quit. It's not just YouTube, though. It's all Flash video. The only way I can get it working is to close the browser and reopen it. I use Chrome mostly, but I've switched to Firefox and IE and it happens there, too. Here's the thing... It's not just Flash video.

Sometimes, when I open a video file to play in WMP, the audio just doesn't work at all. I have to close the program and re-open the file to get it to work. If I pause a file in the middle of playback and leave it for a few minutes then try to resume play, the audio quits working, but the video keeps moving right along. Sometimes, if I try to play a file in iTunes, the audio either doesn't work right off the bat or it does the YouTube thing, plays for a couple of seconds and quits, then I have to restart iTunes to get it to work again.

The weirdest thing is that it doesn't affect really anything else that I've noticed. Just WMP, iTunes and any Flash video play... Read more

I have recently purchased a brand new "CM Storm QuickFire Pro".
Which is a USB Mechanical Keyboard.
Full specs here:
Amazon.com: CM Storm QuickFire Pro - Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX BROWN Switches and LED Backlit Gaming Keys: Computers & Accessories

It worked flawlessly for a couple of weeks, but recently it started disconnecting and reconnecting randomly, making the keyboard unusable.

I've tried another generic USB keyboard, and It works - No disconnects.

I've tried connecting this keyboard to my laptop, and It worked great! - No disconnects.

It seems that the problem occurs only when I connect it to my pc.

My motherboard is Gigabyte MA770-UD3.

I've tried so far going to device manager and Uninstalling what seems to be the keybaord "HID Keybaord device". but no luck.

I've also tried going to my USB Root Hub and removing the tick from " Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

How can i fix this annoying problem ?

Answer:Specific keyboard randomly disconnects but works on other computer

Hello Yupp mate I think you should try these first SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Disk Check

then run these

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/download from bleeping computer

Then download the motherboards drivers again and also check with Coolermaster as well as I cannot find a driver for that keyboard.

SOYO DRAGON BOARD P4VTP
2x512 3200 Corsair RAM
450watt PS
1.6 p4 intel processor
Gforce4 4600 ti

I just recently purchased a SY-P4VTP motherboard a month ago and started getting weird bluescreens right before Windows XP would load with a STOP: (hexadecimal memory location weird number like 8EH00092-0000) . Other times everything would run fine and the compuer would react normally. In minor instances the pc would just restart itself. (saving itself from damage due to a fatal error I am assuming)

At first I thought my power supply might be the cause since I didn't want to believe my new mobo was faulty. I then purchased a 450 watt and to no avail was receiving the same problems. I started leaving my computer on by itself for extended periods of time since it seemed once it worked for over a few hours it would run flawless... the boot/bluescreen problems only seem to occur 5-20minutes after starting her up. I then thought my ram might be faulty so I purchased 2 sticks of 512 3200 corsair a few nights ago now I am still receiving the same problems and I am out of ideas.

I plan on purchasing a new ASUS P4C800E board in the next week or two but would hate to drop 180$ only to find out I'm still having the same problem.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated or even if someone could confirm my motherboard is the most likely problem. Also I am curious if I am harming my ram in anyway with these errors and reboots? I use my computer 5+ hours daily ... Read more

Hi,

My computer randomly shuts itself off. It can happen after 15 minutes or up to 12 hours.

When I turn it on again it always freezes when the Windows logo appears, (Win7 and the part where the four dots become the logo).

If I wait for about 10 minutes, the computer will start up again, and we're back at the beginning again.

(Edit: A new symphtom is that sometimes when I reboot, without it crashing, it freezes on "Starting Windows" as well.)

Any ideas?
