Opera 11.50 beta released

Question: Opera 11.50 beta released

A couple of new things
Speed dial extensions

Speed Dial extensions transform your Speed Dial from a picture into live action! What does that mean? Instead of a static link to a weather web site, a Speed Dial extension can display the forecast for your specific location. In fact, we built that extension.
Speed Dial extensions are easy to make. All you need is a little tiny bit of web development skills.

Password synchronization

Opera 11.50 beta has synchronization of passwords - made securely through Opera Link so you can log on to your password protected sites from anywhere. Opera Link also synchronizes bookmarks, your Speed Dial, custom search engine preferences, notes (yes, you can take notes in the Opera browser), typed browser history and more.

The Windows panel now lets you stack tabs the same as the tab bar.

Preferred Solution: Opera 11.50 beta released

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Opera 11.50 beta released

I am using this new beta and I really like it. It seems very quick but I have one question. They have a Web GL version that enables GPU acceleration but it rates much slower than this beta on Peacekeeper and seems slower in real life. I thought 11.50 was supposed to have GPU acceleration. Is this now being delayed?

Hi folks,

Well Latest Opera has just released second beta of its upcoming Opera 10 browser. I'm using it and working excellent for me. Check changes and other information:

Opera 10 Beta 2 Released

Please say somthing about new opera 10 .

Answer:New Opera 10 Beta 2 Released

Because I only have one computer (no test or virtual computer), I have an aversion to beta software, however good/safe it is likely to be.

However, as an Opera user for many years, I will be installing the final version 10 as soon as it is available.

Source Opera 10 Beta 2 Released

Opera 10 Beta 2 was released earlier today by the Opera development team. Users who are already using a version of Opera 10 should consider upgrading to this new release which brings it one step closer to the first release candidate. The changelog lists many changes for this release especially for the Opera user interface, mail, chat and news, display and scripting, security and network. The Windows changelog alone lists more than 100 items that have been added, changed or fixed in Opera 10 Beta 2.
Many users in the Opera forum are reporting problems with the new beta release. The developers are actually warning users stating that it ?may have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations?. That?s not very encouraging and it is therefor suggested to try the web browser in a test environment and not in a productive environment to ensure that it is working without problems.

Change log

Download 8 beta 2

In the change log, you'll notice document.selection support for forms. That means that you can finally select something in the compose box for these forums and embed that selection in color tags (for example).

Also, that means inserting smilies will insert at the caret position instead of at the end of the textarea. (Finally)

However, in these forums, the inserting smiley part doesn't insert at the caret position for Opera beta 2. It does work at the vBulletin-based techguy forums though.

If you use Opera, I recommend you update to 8 beta 2 (clean, separate install). (For security reasons and feature reasons. Plus plugin support is better. 7.54u2 is just not as advanced when it comes to html/dom support).

BTW, they have a handle on the IDN spoofing.

It's a good update. (especially if you are coming from 7.54u2).

Opera Software today announced the first public Beta of Opera 9. This version includes Widgets, small Web programs running in their own windows that are fun, easy-to-use and live on users' desktops. The Opera 9 Beta also features support for BitTorrent, a popular file downloading technology, in addition to an easy-to-use content blocker and thumbnail previews of tabbed sites.

And yes, Opera remains available free of charge.

The Opera team released a beta version of Opera 9.20 to the public yesterday. The new version comes with several new features and fixes that are worth taking a closer look at. It looks pretty stable to me and I did not witness crashes so far, you should still be aware that this is a beta version. The release notes line out the new features and fixes of Opera 9.20 beta. The most important features that are introduced is the so called Speed Dial Feature and the integration of Developer Tools. There have been several security and stability fixes as well.
As I said earlier Speed Dial is probably the most interesting addition to Opera. Every new tab that you open displays up to nine websites that you have chosen showing the actual content of that website in a thumbnail. Clicking on a thumbnail or pressing CTRL + [1..9] loads the website in full screen. This is actually a very clever way for users who visit a number of sites often to check if anything new happened in the meantime. Great for webmasters who visit their sites or want to keep up with news sites. The tab can be used normally as well. Take a look at the screenshot that I made below.
I think this is a pretty interesting new feature that is unique to Opera for now. Remains to be seen how long the others need to add it to their browser.

Answer:Opera 9.2 beta released

I have been using this for a couple of weeks now. Well the Speed Dial thing. It is very useful and nice to use. But other times it is a hassle.

Overall i have to say this is the best version to use so far.

I am sooo glad that Opera have now made it free as the adverts were nearly always the excuse for people to prefer Firefox. Now they have no excuse.

The family recently inherited my P4 2.4MHz PC to replace their old P2 266MHz Win98 box and it was such a breeze just copying their Profile folder from the old machine to the "new" one. Didn't have to make any customisation or setting adjustments at all despite the fact that they are now using Linux SimplyMepis instead of Win98.

With Firefox all the extensions need redownloading everytime a new version is issued and all one's customisations reapplied.

Opera rocks.

The last month was a quite one in terms of news from Opera Software. The company released Opera 12.12 on December 17 and turned silent afterwards until it released a first snapshot of the upcoming Opera 12.13 exactly a month later. Today, Opera 12.13 final has been released by Opera Software, an update to the stable version of the browser that the company classifies as a security and stability update.

Existing Opera users can check for the update with a click on Opera > Help > Check for updates. The new version of the Internet browser is already picked up the update checker so that it can be installed right from within the browser. New users find the latest version on the Opera website where it can be downloaded for all supported operating systems.[...]

We are starting the summer season in a good mood today. While we are still working on the 12.16 version, which you should expect really soon, we have released the stable version of all-new Opera 15 for Windows and Mac. I'll get back to 12.x later in this post, but for now let me focus on the great new release we have today.

In Opera 15, we've refreshed Speed Dial to allow you to group your entries in folders and to filter them easily. We have introduced the Discover feature, which brings you new content with just one click. Now, you can also add pages you want to keep to your Stash and create a visual list of any web content you want to compare or come back to later. Also, our combined address and search bar makes searching easy and straightforward. Last, but not least, is a great UI, completely new, built from the ground up and deeply integrated with the platform.

Opera 15 is released, but it doesn?t mean we're relaxing now. With our new rapid-release cycle, we are already hard at work on the next versions. Right now, we are focusing on synchronization (aka Opera Link), enhanced tab management (visual tabs and so on) and support for themes ? and these are just a few of the features you can expect to find soon in our next releases! So, stay tuned for some of the most loved features to return soon, better than ever.

Together with the new Opera, we've introduced release streams:

Opera fans rejoice. After a seemingly endless series of Beta versions and one release candidate the Opera developer team has finally uploaded Opera 9.5 final to the ftp site. The release is available in English and for International users and cannot be downloaded from anywhere else currently. The homepage still states coming soon which will probably change later this day.
Here are the download links for Windows, Linux and Macintosh.
The build number of the Windows release is 10063. It comes a bit as a surprise after the recent release of the first release candidate of Opera 9.5. There cannot be a lot of changes between this version and the release candidate earlier this week. As always there is no information yet on the changes, think we just have to wait a bit longer for the official release announcement.

A new stable build of the Opera web browser got to see daylight this morning on both Windows and Mac OS X platforms.

While no new release notes are available at this point, the developing team has decided to push the 17 Next version to the stable channel, which most likely means that it managed to fix all bugs and performance issues found in the pre-release build.

Since it?s a stable version, Opera 17 is now expected to provide a bug-free experience on all supported operating systems, so make sure you update your beta build to the new release as soon as possible.

As far as Windows is concerned, Opera 17 can be installed on all versions still supported by Microsoft, starting with the aging XP and ending with the upcoming 8.1.

Opera 10.51 Windows Released
Opera 10.51 was released less than three weeks after the release of the Opera 10.50 milestone release. Three public release candidates were released in rapid succession before the final version of Opera 10.51. The new version of the popular web browser fixes many user interface inconsistencies and bugs that have made their release in Opera 10.50, a release that many users thought to be rushed out by the developers to meet the browser ballot screen introduction in the European Union.
Opera 10.50 increased the performance of the web browser by a lot. The Opera browser is now one of the fastest web browsers available on the Internet and the developers promise that Opera 10.51 increases the speed further by up to 27% in the Peacekeeper benchmark compared to Opera 10.50.

Opera 10.50 Final Released

Opera 10.50 final was released just a few minutes ago after five published release candidates in the last 48 hours. Most users who have noticed the increased development pace of the new Opera browser suspect that it had something to do with the introduction of the so called browser ballot screen in Europe which can be a chance to increase the market share in this popular market.
Opera 10.50 brings a lot of new features to the table, most noticeable the speed improvements which leaves Firefox behind in the dust, at least for now.

A new version of the (not so popular but great) browser Opera has been released and can be downloaded from the main ftp site for windows, mac and linux. The official website has not been updated yet which means you should have enough time to download the file you need before the masses slow down the servers.

I could not find any announcements or release notes which means that I can’t write about the changes in this version to the prior version 9.02 but I was not able to spot major differences doing a quick look around. If you are looking for a fast browser that uses less ram than Firefox but offers lots of functionality that Firefox offers with its extensions Opera might be the ideal browser for you.

Opera Software is now working to synchronize the releases of all flavors of its browser, irrespective of the platforms they are designed to support. The latest development snapshot of the next minor update to Opera 10.50 is an illustrative example of the Norwegian browser maker?s efforts in this regard. Opera 10.52 Build 3337 is currently available for download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, after a long period in which the Windows flavor of the browser was favored over the other two variants.

The all new Opera 15 for desktops has been released.

If you are a regular or long time user, don't be so quick to Upgrade your current version, as the new Opera is a different animal.

You can install the new version and still keep your current version for regular use by installing the new version in a different folder.
Instead of the usual C:\Program Files\Opera\ location, you can install the new one in C:\Program Files\Opera 15\.
That will also create a separate profile for the new version.

The previous version 12.xx will continue to be updated while missing features in version 15 are added over time.

Soure: Surprise: Opera 12.18 has been released - gHacks Tech News

Opera Software has released version 12.18 of the classic Opera browser two years after the latest update has been made available.

When Opera Software switched from the company's own Presto rendering engine to Chromium/Blink, it was clear that this was the end of the classic Opera browser.

Users who still run the classic version of Opera may receive an update notification that version 12.18 of the browser is available.

They can then use it to upgrade their version of the browser to the new version. The notification may come as a surprise as Opera Software uses it to promote the Chromium version of the browser regularly instead.

Opera 12.18
The new classic Opera version installs or upgrades fine, and you can check that you are still running classic Opera by selecting Opera > Help > About Opera.

There you find listed the version of the browser and build number. It is interesting to note that Windows 10 is not recognized by the browser but listed as Windows 8 instead.

Opera Software has not made available a changelog for the version. A user posted what he thinks has been updated on the Vivaldi forum.

I hate to repeat myself, but 12.18 is a security update. They removed a few protocols that are considered unsafe, added some which were not in 12.17. and enabled TLS 1.1 and 1.2 by default. And yes, there's an update for Mail too. No, no Linux or Mac versions yet.

With the release of the new Chromium-based Opera, the Norwegian developer dislocated the mail component from the web browser and provided it as a standalone product.

Today, the company rolls out the first stable build for their email client; it remained as simple as before as the modifications available in this standalone version are quite subtle.

As such, the layout and the main features users were accustomed to in the built-in client from the browser have been preserved.

There is the tabbed interface that allows quick and easy access to multiple messages; it still incorporates a feed reader to fetch news from your subscriptions.

Furthermore, messages can be viewed in threads, which makes for easy tracking of a conversation. One thing that?s new is the availability of the ?Contacts? button in a more prominent position.

Mouse gestures seem to be fixed for everyone having problems.

By Haavard. Friday, 7. January, 14:00
This is a snapshot of Opera 11.01, a possible future minor/bugfix release for Opera 11.

In addition to mouse gesture fixes and various other things, we have also looked at the top crashers in Opera 11, and several of them have been fixed in this snapshot.

Although this is a minor/bugfix release, you may notice that there are more Core fixes in this build than you might expect. This is due to our development model at Opera, where we often receive batches of fixes from the Core team that have been tested, and are ready for public consumption. Since the batch of fixes contains important bug fixes, we receive other fixes as well as a "bonus". We also get to test these fixes in public.

Opera 10.60 Release Candidate Released

Opera Software has just released the first release candidate of the upcoming Opera 10.60 web browser. Opera 10.60 continues where Opera 10.50 left of improving on overall web browser speed and compatibility.
Opera performs very well in popular web browser benchmarks, how well usually depends on the benchmark. It is fair to say that Opera 10.60 will rank fairly high in all of them except those that benefit from hardware acceleration.
The developers have released a series of snapshot releases and a beta release before the release candidate was released.
