Details pane customization

Question: Details pane customization

How can I change the color of details pane in Windows Explorer? I'm trying to modify Soft7 visual style to suite my needs.. I've found allmost everything else, but I can't find the way to change this. Is it a bitmap in shellstyle.dll, msstyles, or something else?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

How can I re-associate .mp4 files with video details displaying in the Details Pane? After installing the K-lite codecs pack, my mp4's all began displaying in the details pane as audio files (Album, Artist etc) and no longer displays the important video default details (size, frame height, bitrate etc). I assume it was because of incorrectly associating file types when installing the codecs (even though wmv's, avi's are still correct), so I uninstalled the codecs but the Details categories remain for typical audio files. I've exhausted The Google and I'm stumped... any help? (Win7, 32-bit with VLC as my default player) Thanks!

Hi all!

I've used some registry hacks to customise my Navigation pane so that is has only the following entries:

- favorites
- computer
- network

"Show all folders" is ticked off. Now I don't know what might have cause this and I'm not sure when it happened, but now the entries look like this:

- favorites
- user's home folder
- computer
- network

How can I make the user folder disappear?

Thanks!

Hi,I'm using Windows 7 Professional x64. I have been having problems with the navigation pane. First of all I can't hide favorites or even organize it or put it below computer.

In this day and age every menu for any software can be organized but navigation pane cant?

I want to remove favorites and to move computer to the top.

Also, every time I click a folder, computer moves down again. What is with that?

Also, I would like to be able to single click in the navigation pane like in XP. Why do I have to double click in that pane? Doesn't it defeat the purpose of the navigation pane? I could just double click in the main window area.

Thanks

A fairly simple question:

Has anyone tried to (or found a third party app) that can put the details pane back to the bottom of the File Explorer windows, like it was in 7. It was of great use to me when reading tags and other information. In 8, it just takes needless width space from the windows.

Shell32.dll but modifyng it crashes windows 8 (at least in CP/RP), havent tried in RTM yet.

But point is.

Can I move the details pane from the right to the left, where the tree explorer is located?

In order to customize which fields are displayed in the details pane for a given file type you can:

1. Run Regedit.
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SystemFileAsso ciations\.mp3 (Or whatever file type you want to edit.)
3. Edit the PreviewDetails string.

I just did a reinstall of XP Pro and am having trouble with video files being "in use" when trying to move/delete them (only a several second lag, but it is annoying me). It has to do with a preview being generated in the details pane in the bottom left corner of Explorer. I eventually figured out how to turn off the preview option on my last install but have forgotten how I did it. Under folder options I have "do not cache thumbnails" unchecked. Is this the setting I need to change? Or is it somewhere else? It seems to me I need an option to not show a preview in the details pane.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Answer:How to Turn of Thumbnails in Details Pane?

I haven't done an XP install, but I have had problems like yours. Here is how I fix them without reinstalling, in case it may help? (The instructions may be different for XP.)

Thumbnails are used as icons when the folder is in Thumbnail view. This is usually not the problem, since they are usually cached after the first time. I turn them off by getting the Properties window for that folder. (I just go to the parent folder and right-click on the folder there, then choose Properties.) Then in one of the tabs, I find the Enable thumbnail view option and uncheck it. But, again, this is probably not the problem.

The preview thumbnail (actually, the whole details pane) can be turned off by unchecking View as Web Page in the View menu in one folder. Or, you can turn it off for all folders by going to View menu > Folder Options > General tab > choose Custom, then click the Settings button and in the View Web Content in Folders section, choose Only for folders where I select "as Web Page" [View menu]

If I want the details pane, but not the preview, I edit the HTML of the window. I don't know if you want to try this, it can be confusing, but here's what I do, just in case:
I right-click on the detail pane (or you can use the View menu), and click Customize this Folder... then choose create or edit HTML document. This allows me to customize that details pane. To remove only the worst case files from the preview, I see if I can find "var w... Read more

Hai Im new here..

Recently I was trying to add comments to movie folders so that i can keep a brief description about it when i click on it. It was easy to add comment then i had a bit trouble to get the comment getting displayed in the details pane...after playing with the registry for a while i got that solved as well.
Now I ended up with a problem where the comment being displayed eds with just some 3 or 4 words with the remaining given in dots (...) and I get a full display of it when i hover the mouse over it, which obviously goes way in 5 seconds or so.

So what i need is to find a way to expand what ever that is shown in the details pane so that it shows the entire content in consecutive lines without being restricted to one line (without having to hover a mouse)

You might get a picture of it if you have a small details pane on the right and make it show your processor details when you open thisPC.

Is there any way to permanently remove or disable all of the various "views" in the Windows 7 Navigation Pane *except* for Details? If a subdirectory contains audio files I *never* want to see "Album" or "Artist" or any of the rest of that garbage. If the subdirectory contains an image file I *never* want to see a thumbnail of images. If I need more information about a file I'll right click on it and select Properties, thankyewverymuch!

In short, when I click anywhere in the left or right panel in the Navigation Pane I never want to see *ANYTHING* except the file name, type, size, and date modified. If it isn't a file (e.g. Network, etc.) just show me a computer or device name, not some massive image of a router or other waste of my time.

I have this problem with the vista details pane and I have not been able to find any solution. I have Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium version. The problem is that:
1. My details pane is missing a lot of properties/tags . Only ones that are appearing are file date, file name, dated created.
2. When I go into a MP3 folder, same thing happens as I described in 1. Just the 4 tags appear and I don?t get any other tags that used to be there like artist name, rating, title, etc.

Up till now I have tried the following solutions:
1. I have reset all the folder options in Vista by going to Folders/tools/reset defaults. (did not work)
2. After resetting the folders, I have also turned on the details pane option under Organize/Layout and the details under the Views. (did not work)
3. Under View, in the tool bar, I went to Customize This Folder and chose the Music Folder Option, All Items etc. (did not work)

Hello.

I've been trying to re-organize my photo collection. Previously, I had been using Windows Live Photo Gallery to tag my photos, and admittedly it was convenient. Recently, though, the program has gone on the fritz to where thumbnails aren't loading so it's harder to differentiate photos simply by the file name in cases where I have a lot of photos of the same group or folder. While I've tried a lot of troubleshooting to get the thumbnails to load, and would gladly take advice on that issue, in the meantime I'm trying to accomplish the same thing using the details pane in explorer.

When I highlight a photo right now, most file types load the date stamp, tags, rating, author(s) and comments properties in the details pane. However, I'd like to edit the people properties so I can tag individuals in the photos. I have not seen a way to easily do that short of using other software (such as Photo Gallery).

Does anyone know if there's a way to do this through explorer or will it require a separate application?

Answer:People tagging of photos using details pane

You are talking about edit Exif data. There are programs out there that allow you to do that.

I want to make some specific changes to the default Preview Details string for picture files in Windows Explorer. I have found an excellent write-up on how to edit that string using regedit, but the author was only interested in the specific around music. In the attached picture, I show the file properties/attributes that I am interested in placing in the Detail Pane. The current edited string is shown below.

prop:System.Photo.DateTaken;System.Keywords;System.Title;System.Subject;
*System.Photo.PeopleNames;*System.Contact.Location;*System.Contact.StateOrProvince;
*System.Contact.Country;System.Comment;*System.DateCreated;*System.DateModified;

As you can see, some work, others don't. Is there a comprehensive list of these properties and their syntax in the form
(*)System.xxxx.yyy
that one can refer to when modifying the string?

I was wondering if you know if there is a way to improve Vista's Video Preview on the Details Pane.

The problem I see is that Vista shows the very 1st second of video, while Windows 7 shows the 4th. That's why many of the video previews on the details pane show a black screen on vista instead of actual video.

Check that your files haven't suddenly become "Read-only".

Also try running CHKDSK to check the drive.

After I've used one of my external HDDs at TAFE, my PC claims that it is "Read-only" and it takes several CHKDSK commands to fix the problem.
Of course after CHKDSK is finished, it says that there weren't any problems.

Hi, I just re-installed windows 7 on my desktop pc and have a question about the settings of the details pane in windows explorer (the one that appears and the bottom when you select a file). Previously when I selected video files (.mp4, .avi and .mkv) I would get the details at the bottom, the video frame width and height, size of file etc.. but since I reinstalled I don't get these details when I select video files. I know its only a small problem but I work with video files a lot and have gotten used to seeing the resolution of files without having to open them. Does anyone know how I can get the details pane to show these details again? At the moment it only displays the video size, name and state.

Here is a screen-shot of the details pane for a selected .mkv video file on my laptop, this is what I want it to display on my pc.

Answer:Solved: Windows explorer details pane for videos problem

Is the folder set as a "Video" type?
Look at the properties of the folder, and there you will see a drop down list for the type.

I googled the problem and NOTHING!!!!! many information NO LONGER is displayed in my details pane in Windows Explorer!!!!!! song length is one of them gone missing (& total length if multiple files are selected) and I use that frequently!!!!! it ONLY shows basic information now such as artist, title, album, and genre!!! but total length is GONE!!! also MANY UNRELATED INFORMATION is now in the details pane for media files!!!!!!! mood of music has been added (never heard of that tag), song rating, and composer now have been added!!!! it even displays ALL THIS SAME INFORMATION for WAV files when it used to be ONLY file size and length for WAV files!!!!!!! WAV is NOT capable of tags so I don't know why Windows Explorer shows this information for WAV files!!!!!!

HOW DO I GET MY DETAILS PANE BACK TO NORMAL???????

Hello, I was wondering about the possibility to increase the images thumbnail size on the details pane in file explorer, and to make the panel maller than allowed by default. Is it possible?
Thank you for your help

Answer:adjust file preview size on file explorer details pane

There seems to be a minimum size which is pre-defined, you cannot make it smaller. The preview and details pane size is set by the DetailsContainerSizer binary value in the Registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Modules\GlobalSettings\Sizer
I do not know of way to make the thumbnail larger in the details pane. It is larger in the preview pane.

Having decided to use Vista's Mail/Contacts/Calendar, I was quite excited to see that when I hovered the mouse over the Extra Large Icon of a contact, all of his details appeared in the right hand side preview panel ...... for a moment!

Now that capability has disappeared altogether!

I have checked under Organize x Layout that the Preview Panel is checked but it remains blank all the time!

What have I (it) done to remove this handy feature?
........... but there's more ................. the contact's name comes up say michael smith.contact but I only want Michael Smith to show (not the word "contact").
When I try to rename it to a straight Michael Smith, Vista gets all upset and starts tellimg me that it probably won't work anymore if I persist!!

There's gotta be a way to rename these contacts!

File "Description" data fields etc. no longer appear in the Windows Explorer "Details" pane. Please see attachment.

Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium, Version 6.0.6002, Service Pack 2, Build 6002.

ID3 tag data can be edited using MP3Tag editor, but is no longer available for edit in the Windows Explorer "Details" pane.

Any advice about how to restore the data fields in the Windows Explorer "Details" pane would be appreciated.

When I open an instance of windows explorer, the navigation pane show little or nothing (no drives, folders, etc.). Also the preview pane does not show a preview for any selected files (See Capture1.JPG).
If I open a second (or higher) instance of windows explorer, the navigation pane functions properly (the preview still does not show) (See Capture2.JPG).
I have previews set to show (See Capture3.JPG).
Also occasionally, the file icons will be blank instead of showing the file type specific icon. When this happens, the address bar also seems to take a long time to load. The load bar will stop before reaching the end and won't finish (See Capture4.JPG).

Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix this?

FYI I am running 64 bit Windows 7 Pro.

Answer:Windows Explorer: Navigation Pane and Preview Pane Bug

Try Explorer++ and see if you get the same problem.

Need to enable "Folders" view.
If it works then you can rule out problems with system files and it's probably a buggy shell extension.

https://explorerplusplus.com/

It's portable and runs without installation.

I had to manually find all related files to OE6 to delete it so it would reinstall. Then the updates. Now nothing shows up on the preview pane or when I open the email. I can use Outlook instead but what is wrong? The only view of the message is in properties: details: message source.

Answer:Solved: OE has empty preview pane, open pane

1. With Outlook Express closed, go to Start>Run
2. Type in: regsvr32 inetcomm.dll (with the space after "regsvr32")
3. Click OK (or press the Enter key)
4. Open OE and see if things are fixed

Is it possible to have no Nav Pane when opening a Desktop folder, but have Nav Pane when opening Win Explorer? Like it was in WinXp/Win98/Win95?
When I disable Nav Pane, it disappears for Desktop folders and Windows Explorer.

I think the answer was 'no' for Win7.

I installed Classic Start Menu hoping one of it's features could do it. If it does, I've not been able to enable it. Other than that, Classic Start Menu is a super improvement.

I need a little help with something that seems simple. I am using Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I have changed the columns in Details view in a folder. However Windows is not populating those columns, so what am I missing? This holds true on both my network drives and my local drives, so I checked my indexing options and they are set to index my local drives, so I assumed that should have at least worked. Any help would be very much appreciated.

For Windows 7, is there a list of the 'Details' available in the Windows Explorer folder view called 'Details' which has an explanation for each of them? Most of them are simple but some leave me scratching my head.

Answer:explanation of 'Details' in Windows Explorer 'Details' view

The "Details" which are available are those you see when a list of files is in "Details" view (as opposed to "Icons" or "Tiles" views. In "Details" view, depending on which column categories you have enabled, you are shown such things as filesize, file-date, filetype etc. If you then right-click any column header, you can choose to hide or show more information columns.I can't see how any of that can leave you scratching your head as it's no different to previous versions of Windows in that respect.

Hi Guys, I just had to do a complete reinstall of my Vista. There are two problems there. One of them is why I reinstalled my OS in the first place, but it didn't help.

First problem - Please refer to "Messed Up Icons.jpg" - when I open "My Computer" to see all of my drives, two icons are messed up (I reinstalled thinking it would fix it), how do I load those two default icons, or how can I load any other icons in *.ico or maybe in *.gif formats for those two (2) drives?? I want them to look fine.

Second problem - How do I disable this? I know this very simple, but how? I don't want a RED shield popping up on my taskbar. (This is the second shot - "User Control.jpg")

Thank You folks for your easy help!!

Welcome to the Seven Forums

For the control panel that would be bitmaps #632 and #633 in the shell32.dll in both(because you have 64-bit) C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 you will need to edit the bitmaps with a image editor.
Look at this tutorial from Step 7 Icons - Change Using Resource Hacker will show you how to use Resource Hacker chose to use shell32.dll and bitmap instead.
Hint: I would get copies of the shell32.dll and put them on your desktop and edit them from their do not get the .dlls mixed up put them in separate folders on your desktop.
To properly change a system file you need to take ownership give yourself permission and rename the old file and then copy in the new one look at Post #6 of this thread will tell you how to do it Basic Networking Information
For the start menu if you could post a link to the theme you are using I would be able to tell you what image # that is, it would be in the .msstyles in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\THEME NAME folder.

Is this possible? If so, how?

I remmeber those execellent days with windows 98, ME & 2000, where folder customization was the best, for e.g. right click on any folder and click on customize this folder, like for each folder i use to keep different background, use to change the font size/style, font colour for folders/icons. it was amazing, whatever settings i want, i use to do it in folder.htt, which use to be seperate for each folder. for e.g. with windows 98, 2000 & me, if you select a video on the explorer, it use to show you the preview on left side in task pane. Here in windows 7 we have 5 folder templates already created by default, like General, Music, Videos, Documents, etc. I just want to know how to add my custom created template in that list or edit one of those 5 folder templates. for e.g. for my mp3 file's folder, i use to make mp3's play automaitcally as soon as they use to get selected, like its in todays fedora/linux. The main purpose to create a new or edit one of these templates is because, if i get to edit one of them, i get to customize the folder according to my wish, i can also put a password block as well, so nobody can enter my folder, unless people using dos or command prompt. I use to do this in windows 98, 2000, me. That is why, i use to loved those operating system. It was something which was handy, cuz if you see password protector/folder lockers these days, it takes alot of time, to get their work done, only if your folder has too much of data and huge in size, plus ... Does anyone know of a way to change folders details around and maybe create a custom column?

I already know how to change them but they will not stay that way. the issue i am having-(pardon me if i vent here a bit) after spending 35 years as a professional liscenced broadcast disc jockey and engineer, the three most useless things in any folder is the track number, the genre and the star rating- a true proffessional or any collector dont give a [email protected]#! about any of that. especuially those of us with sizeable collections. mine is at just over 400,000 mp3s and nearly 10,000 music videos spanning 103 years of music.

most of us in the biz have genres and decades folderized and most of the stuff out there in the public sector is wrong anyway. its a personal opinion thing when in reality, people at Billboard, Radio and Records, and other professional music services know there is a chart for everything andthats the "Genre" it should be labeled as.

the ony people thats give a crap about track numbers are people illegally burning disc copies anyway.

the only things that matter to a professional disc jockey is the year and chart positions. and whether or not there is a long or short version or a remix.

what i wish i could get vista to do, is give me the file name, artist, title, album, file size and type (Should be the same column) and the chart position and year and date, and keep these columns permanently.

also- id like them all to stay in "details" in ... Read more

I'm trying to customize the Notes/Histories report in ACT! 2007 Premium for Workgroups.
Specifically, I need a count of the entries for the sales manager to be able to get an instant count of history events (completed activities) at the end of the report. Reports are filtered by date and user. So there might be calls, emails, and meetings completed - now count them.

I've tried a count of the "Record Manager" at the report footer, but the number is way off, as if it counted much more than the results of the report filter.

Hello Everyone, I just acquired an E320 and first I installed Ubuntu on it. What I really liked was that Ubuntu seemed very capable of taking full advantage of the trackpad as in recognizing gestures, allowing multitouch, allowing pinch-to-zoom, disabling the trackpad while typing (so the cursor won't just randomly move if I accidentally touch the trackpad), etc. For reasons I am not going to describe here, I switched to Windows 7 (actually 8 beta, but it is completely equivalent with 7 in this aspect) and all these cool features just disappeared and I cannot find a way to somehow enable them via the Windows' settings. Is there any specific product for this purpose, like a driver from Synaptics, or something like that I could install and use the Trackpad as it should be used? Any suggestions are much appreciated. tl;dr: Windows can't handle the Trackpad, what can I do to improve this? Thanks,Ben

Hi PJ Staley,
Take a look at this Icon manager.....Iconoid

I've used it for a couple of years and it's a nifty way to do many things with your Desktop Icons. Make the Text background clear, change the color of the text, change the color of the background (if not clear) etc, etc. Takes up minimal resources. Just remember that anytime you change an Icon position/location that you click on the "Positions" tab>"Save Icon Positions (Relative)" otherwise it will revert back to it's previous position.
On the page that loads from the link, move your cursor over any of the tabs and it will show you what it does.

Let me know how you like it.

P.S. It's a Freeware!

Hey,

Recently I introduced a .htaccess code that changed my /index.php?id=blah/wazoo links into /blah/wazoo.html
Code:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(index\.php|media|forums|layout|gamingextreme|includes|news)
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ index.php?id=site/$1
After a full day of debugging all the small errors, im left with one rather large error. I have an image script that relies on the ability to use the URL to change the page (ex, if you clicked the link to page 2, the URL would be index.php?id=ff8/images&page=2

Now that I have the simple html links, i can no longer do this.

So what I was thinking was I could make the next and previous buttons goto something like /ff8/images/1.html for the first page instead. I can easily get the script to recognize this and to make the appropriate page change, the only problem is getting that URL to goto the image page.

I figure I can use .htaccess for this, but since I already have the redirect code, basically it looks for a 1.html file in the images/ folder which doesnt exist.

How can I get URLS like this to got the images.html file instead of looking for images/1.html, yet keep the same address?

I would like to know if It would be possible to cut the taskbar off the sides and center it in the middle. Like the mac dock.

Like this: http://www.kuanhoong.com/wp-content/...2/mac-dock.jpg

If someone could figure this out, try and make sure it works with the small icons. (I has so many icons!) Thanks guys, keep up the good work on this windows seven stuff.
EDIT: Srry for saying sidebar, meant taskbar.

Answer:Sidebar customization

The taskbar is part of the Start that continues across the screen unless set to auto hide. Basically that's a new version of the quick launch bar also seeing the option to show the entire desktop as well as previewing multiple programs or windows open.

So far I haven't seen one method for clipping the ends off of any version's taskbar for XP, Vista, and now 7. The option to grouping icons seen in the taskbar properties is the usual method when you run out of run for having each icon side by side with others.

If you are using the default aero theme I can change that for you.
If you are using a custom theme you will need to ask the

You will need to do 1 of these 2 ways of Enabling custom themes for it to work.

Or You can use Ave's Windows7 Style Builder or Restorator - Bome Software - Restorator - the resource editor for customization, localization, and translation. plus Photoshop or Gimp or Paint and do it yourself.

Hi, I've followed a number of tweak and config threads and I have "beginners questions" left over. Thanks to anyone who can help!
1. Windows Explorer forgets the appearance for "Desktop" and "My computer" (list view, ungrouped)

2. How to switch off or reconfigure figuring out what type a folder is? I would prefer one default view for all folders, unless explicitly changed for specific locations.

4. Is "Libraries" just a Win7 term for an abstracted folder (a collection of locations viewable and searchable as one logical location)? How can I disable libraries and remove them from the navigation panel on Windows Explorer.

5. Can the logged-on username be shown in the start panel, and the user icon at the top removed?

6. The theme/personalisation has a white/transparent blur effect across the top-left diagonal (eg on taskbar buttons on screenshot). How can I tweak or remove it, to avoid the distracting shading effects?

7. Windows Explorer uses unnecessarily large fonts for its listing views. My desktop has a smaller font which I prefer. How can I change the font and font size used in Windows Explorer?

I recently had my computer reformatted (it is now the amazing Windows 7) and have decided to go after my long abandoned goal of making my computer look incredible. I have already saved loads of amazing wallpapers, and have a few helpful gadgets and a new theme, but aside from that I am at a loss. Currently my aims are:

1)to have the kind of desktop which requires no desktop shortcuts (either have them in a dock/gadget, or find a way to have them hidden unless I mouse-over, the hidden one would be best)

2)to have a "wallpaper clock", such as these:
[link] For the wallpaper clocks, I am trying to find out if there is one available in which it gives you the feature of having a customizable format (text, digital numbers, etc...), and lets you place it wherever you'd like with the option of displaying certain things at certain times (such as "It is 8:00 in the morning/It is 3:00 in the afternoon/It is 10:00 at night), and if at all possible, having the color change to be the most visible over whatever the background is (I have a slideshow of wallpapers). The latter is not as important as I can happily settle on just one wallpaper.

3)a large selection of docks, preferably customized ones (as in not just a plain RocketDock, one that either is unique, or is basic and has an interface that allows you to easily customize, such as change color, shape, gloss)

4)This one I never put much thought into, but customized sounds. Most likely I would need ... Read more

Answer:Need help with lots of customization!

1. Rocketdock.

2. Rainmeter. The skins you're thinking of are probably the SimpleSentence set.

3. Here.

4. Get the sound(s) you want to use and convert it/them to .wav format. I suggest Audacity to do that. Once you have the sounds in .wav format, go into your control panel and find the sound settings. Then go to the Sounds tab, click on what sound you want to change, and the rest is easy to figure out.

5. Here.

6. Rainmeter.

Hope this helped.

I was wondering what program you guys use to customize your windows? I'm looking at Aston Shell but at a price tag of 29.95, I'm looking for something cheaper. I do like the fact that Aston replaces your explorer.exe instead of just running in the background, and it claims to be able to run on a Pentium I processor and 32MB of RAM, meaning that it takes almost no resources. It even claims to take up less resources then Windows XP. I just want to know your opinions on a different program, or should I settle for this program.

Aston Desktop. Program for desktop, virtual desktop, shell replacement, themes, wallpapers, skins, visual styles

Answer:Windows Customization

Windowsblinds. It does the same thing. It replaces the UXTheme.dll upon start up and therefor uses no resources. They only have the icon in the taskbar for easy access to chagne skins.

I have used it for 3 years now and have loved every second of it.

I figured it would be best to keep the title general so that I can post multiple questions here without creating new threads for each question.

To start...

I see some people with a customized tool bar at the top of the screen that is centered and not stretched across the entire screen. How do I create this? In XP, I had a quick launch bar at the top of the screen for my professional apps, and I would like to do this again in W7.

2nd... how do I merge the clock and the calender widgets like I see in some custom themes?

Thanks.

Answer:My customization questions

The toolbar you are seeing is most likely RocketDock. It's pretty cool once you get it running.

Don't know about the gadgets
