I have found this BUG in Micrososft Word 2007, that I consider to be a SERIOUS ISSUE for Microsoft Office Suite.

If you copy an image from a website and paste in the Word file, the image pastes successfully the first time,
but as you go on & paste other images from the site,
the first image is repeated over and over again, in place of other images (which have the same dimensions).
All other text data remain same, the image titles remain same, but only the image is repeated over and over

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I would not advise pasting images in doc files like that,
I would use ms Paint to paste or save picture as
I would really recommend using the windows snipping tool to get the images that way no bugs are being transferred to the machine or programs,
Then use the Insert image option in word...
It's just a safer way to do an operation,

I am new to the macro world and am seeking a solution to automate a
process in my sales department.
We currently send out rate sheets to our customers via email. To do so
we are copying our excel range and pasting it into a new word document
as a picture (enhanced metafile). From there we email it as an

I have been running Microsoft Picture it 2001 for a long time and over the weekend installed Office 2007. I had previously been using Office 97.

When I tried to use Picture it after installing Office 2007, I got an error saying the GIF grahics filter is missing. I uninstalled and reinstalled Picture it from the disk but get the same error message.
I am guessing Office 2007 has something to do with this problem.
Any advise?

I'm not having this problem, but my friend is so I want to help him out, even though it's not about Windows 7, it's about MS Office.

He is using Office 2007 running under Wine in Linux Mint. When he inserts a picture (any kind of picture), and then moves it to another place in the document/ presentation, the picture is not in the exact position where he placed it. It is a couple of centimetres above the position in which he placed it.

first, highlight your picture in the main body of the page..
now, if you look under Format - to the right, you'll see the "Text-Wrapping" drop-down,
at the bottom of the list there's an entry for "More Layout Options.." click there..
and you'll get the little doggies, as shown in this picture:

check to see if there is already a default entry there indicating the positioning and reduce it to zero, if necessary

- it should give you the freedom to put the picture anywhere on the page

watch the positioning if you intend to print, though - as you may place the picture outside the printable area..

After much messing around I have discovered that if you use Windows 7 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program' to set default programs for file types, it breaks the File Types selection within a given program (in my case Microsoft Office Picture Manager) and you are no longer able to use the program itself to set file types only the Windows 7 function. You can tick/untick file associations all day long within Microsoft Office Picture Manager and nothing gets associated/unassociated. The File Types option is basically broken. I have also noticed this occur with 7-zip which actually causes a more serious issue. By default .zip is not listed in the Windows 7 list of 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program' window but is listed if you associate .zip with 7-zip's own file association option. BUT if you then subsequently use windows 7 to re-associate .zip with Windows Explorer, the .zip vanishes (because by default is is not listed), breaks 7-zips file association options and you can no longer associate .zip files with 7-zip, EVER. Basically I am curious as to why Windows 7 own file association options would break software's own internal file association options so badly to the point they are essentially useless and if there is a fix. I even tried completely reinstalling Microsoft Office and removing all references of it within the registry, no luck. I do not use 7-Zip but that seems the likely bug,
Windows handles Zip folders just like any other folder so 7-Zip is something I don't understand why people need or want it but I don't need any or need to make any Zip folders either

How do I change the default picture file location in Word 2007? I have discovered how to change the default location for saving files, templates etc, but I work on a college network and the pictures I use are not in My Pictures.
Any help hugely appreciated!

You can change the Clipart Location which i think is the closest you are going to get.

Word Options > Advanced Then File Locations under General - You can then Modify Clipart Location.

I'm trying to creat a form in Word and I have a picture that needs to the top of the document from left to right. The problem is that I need to have columns after the picture, but the picture gets cut in half once i put the columns in? Does anyone know how to do this so I can have a picture at the top of a document and insert columns below it where the pictures doesn't get cut.

Welcome to Seven Forums.

Only way I know to accomplish this in Word is to put the banner at the top and then insert a 2 cell/column table below it. Give the table columns a fixed width so they don't resize to the text. When you have all the info in the columns, you can select the table and select no border to make it disappear.

I'm working in 2010 Beta, but should be the same for 2007.

I have made a page of labels in word 2007 and inserted a little xmas motif at the left-hand side. I can't find how to position this so that it is a few mm away from the edge and half-way up the label vertically.I can select the image and then go to the positioning option. I select the 'Position in Middle left with square text wrapping', but the image stays solidly in the top left. I have tried various options under the 'advanced layout' option, but don't seem to find the right box to change.I should add that I *can* move the picture by dragging it, but would prefer to be able to set a standard position.Thank you for any help.

I many years of using Office, I never used Word for much more than simple letters.So I can't help you with that.But I did use Excel a lot.I have printed labels and business cards relatively easily with it.Takes a bit of trial an error and dummy (empty)rows and columns to get right spacing.I find Excel formatting and resizing easier (more comprehensive than Word). Of course it may just be my lack of practice.While I used Avery Label paper, i never got round to trying their templates and software.They seem to have that for Word.Maybe it will be here

Hi, We are using MS Word 2007 on Windows XP and 2007. With Word 2003, we were able to use the text/picture border for our inline photos. Our document may have hundreds of photos, and with 2003, it was a one-click procedure once we formatted the first picture to have the correct border color and width.

With Word 2007, the same border option for pictures is no longer available (text and paragraph only now), and if we use the text option, the picture has a thin white line at the left. Elsewhere, I read that this is the cursor line. Is there a way to get rid of this white line that is NOT a procedure that must be done to each photo? (again, hundreds of photos involved).

I know I can use the right-click Format Picture option or the Picture Tools tab to insert a border (in 2003, this was the way you put borders on floating graphics), but those function require numerous clicks/selections. The picture border option on the Picture Tools tab will retain color for repeated use, but it defaults back to 3/4 pt for the width. Our border width is 2 pt and would require the user to choose the width again for every picture. Is there a way to change the default width?

We no longer have the option of saving our files down to Word 2003. Thanks for any help anyone can give!

I have created a business letterhead as a Word Template with company's logo etc as a picture on top right of 1st page.

When I type into the document or insert autotext entries, the picture stays put, even when I go onto second page. But when I paste text onto the first page, if its more than one page long, it causes the picture to relocate to the second page.

I've tried anchoring the picture. The picture is formatted to be square to text with vertical position absolute to page and "move object with text" is unchecked. I've also tried pasting without formatting. None of these work.

How do I get the picture to stay in its original position when pasting text of more than one page long?

I'm using Office 2007 with Windows 7 and in the Settings, I've set Office to insert pictures with Square as the default text wrapping but whenever I insert a picture, it still inserts as In Line With Text and not Square. How do I fix this so it inserts as Square?

P.S. I changed the setting over a week ago and still hasn't taken place

In our office people are trying to use MOPM but if they use it to view like a 4 page .Tiff file they are only able to view the first page. If they click on the arrow buttons on the screen they are not active and are not able to move from page to page. Is there a setting here MOPM that we are missing?

My wife took a video card out of her camera to upload pictures to Facebook. She cropped them and then tried uploading them to an album she just created (on FB). Our computer locked up, and then she received a file with all characters. None of the photos are on the card, and now it says it needs to be formatted. Is there a special place on our computer that these pictures could have moved to, or are we out of luck? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We had some special family pictures that we really don't want to lose. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

In the PICTURE MANAGER of the 2007 Office I cannot find one function that often made use of in the old MICROSOFT PHOTO EDITOR:
the tool for selecting an area of the image and then deleting, moving it around, or copying it etc.

When I paste a picture into Micro. Office Pic Manager (MOPM), then go to save it, it saves as a .png instead of .jpg. My Design Pro label software does not like .png, only .jpg. Even when I change the extension name to .jpg, the label software says "invalid file type." How do I fix it so M.O.P.M. saves as .jpg?

Not sure which forum is proper for this question.

I installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 a few months ago; now I've noticed that the "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" is being used when I want to access/edit/email my photos. Previous to this install, I used the HP Digital Imaging or the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, and it worked fine, but now I can't keep this MS Picture Editor from handling all photos; I went to Tools>File Types, and then unchecked every box, but still, when I go to Start>Photos, or to C:Document and Settings\Photos and double click an uploaded image, this crazy MS Office Picture Manager brings them up; the pics are tiny and cannot be resized and/or edited etc.

Does anyone know how to disable this MS Office Picture Manager? It is found at Start>Programs\Microsoft Office\Microsoft Office Tools\Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

When we apply a picture style from the ribbon to a 'normal' picture or
clipart this works fine.
When we first create a text box and then insert a picture in this text
box, applying a picture style to this picture results in Word freezing
and crashing. Apparently this only happens on a pc with Vista, not
with XP.
(Word 2007 SP2)
Of course there are other ways to position a picture than inserting it
in a text box. I was just wondering if anyone experiences the same
problem and/or has found a solution?

I used to be able to double click an image/picture from the Microsoft clip art gallery into a Word document.

Now, not only can I not connect via Internet to the Microsoft Image Gallery, when I double clip an image/picture, it is saved as a weird, unkwon file- which of course I can't insert..

how do I get rid of it as it has controll of my pictures when I preview them.I don't want it but can't get rid of it from add/remove programs its not there. I can't delete office cause if I need to reformate the hardrive I would have to install office and I don't have a disk it came installed when I got the computer from the store. its anoying as its a free trial witch is expired so I can't rotate images or anything except view them

You should have some installation medium if it is on the computer. You need to run Office setup, choose a custom installation, and remove the picture software that way. It may be on your recovery CD's (or a recovery partition on the hard drive).

I like using picture manager because it can resize images with minimal distortion'unlike other programs. I have Office 2003 installed (I did a complete install) but I can't find this program anywhere.

Is there a certain directory where I should look for it?

After much searching I'm back to this forum for some help!   All of a sudden I'm not able to open pictures in Microsoft Office Picture Manager as they only open in Microsoft Photo Viewer.  Right clicking on the photo 'Open With' will not open in Office Manager but in Photo Viewer.  I have checked the defaults and they are correct.   I have uninstalled Malwearbytes as one post indicated file extension exes. can be missing or changed to nothing at some point because of that software.  Also have went to the registry but FileExtensions file is not there but a FindExtension is and could not continue with suggestions for correction.  Look forward to some help!  Thanks a lot!...........Candy  (I do run RegServe)

Part of your problem could be using registry cleaners as they are not recommended here at Bleeping Computer forums. When you change default - browse program, is the Microsoft Office Program Viewer listed?

 Well sort of!Normally, when I open pictures(jpg ect.)they open with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Last night I loaded pics from my digital camera to My Pictures. When I click on the thumbnails, they open with Office Picture Manager and I don't know why. How do I reset the WP&FV to the default program?  Jim running XP pro

Nice simple one here. I've recently noticed that whenever I copy a piece of text from an internet source Word decides that it should automatically reformat the text to match the previously typed text. This sounds all well and good but it aligns the previous text to the newly inserted text even if I am only copying a single word.So for example: If I have a paragraph of text in black size 10 Arial and I paste in a word from a title of a webpage that happens to be blue size 24 Calibri Word will helpfully change the entire paragraph to be blue size 24 Calibri.As you can imagine although funny at first it soon gets tedious. How do I stop word doing this? P.S. No one say "download open office", because that would just be making life too easy.

The auto correct feature doesn't seem to work on scanned documents.

I often scan documents and save them as .jpg.

Sometimes I scan a document (a bill or invoice or text) that has light text that's barely readable. I use the auto correct feature to darken the text and then save the adjusted document.

What I noticed today was that after I hit auto correct and the text darkens, when I hit save the text goes back the way it was.

Here's the kicker.

That happens with documents that I have scanned with my new Canoscan 9000F Mark II.

When I pull up documents that I scanned with my 5 year old Canoscan 8800F (an earlier generation of the same machine) the auto correct works the way it's supposed to.

Canon tech support is clueless and blames Office Picture Manager, of course.

Any ideas?

I'd like to edit the registry to disable the feature of Microsoft Office 2016 that allows internal internet access via the Insert Picture/Insert Video feature. I've navigated to: HKEY_Current_User/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Office/16.0 and I believe it is likely something in either General or Insert Media/Online Media, but I'm not sure where to go from here?

Wow, if I didn't see on my computer that all the pictures from an online book were now in my computer, I would say this did not happen and could not happen but all of the pictures from an online book did somehow get captured into my computer.

I am baffled as to how this happened?

Now, I collect pictures from books that are online and that are in the public domain, into my computer but normally just one at a time.

I.e. just right click and save.

Now, I just saw that a book I was doing this w previously, somehow, unbeknown to me, ALL of the pictures - every single one - are on my computer????

I have searched help for Microsoft Office Picture Manager for windows but can't find anything.

Then, I was thinking somehow maybe it happened when I was in Sony Movie Studio 13 platinum but can't find anything in there either.

I know if you click on the globe you are suppose to be able to capture things from the internet but I can't figure out how to do that so I prob did not capture all the pictures from the book that way.

I would almost think I did not capture all of the pics from the book, that it could not possibly be done, but they are all in my computer?

Does anyone know how this happens?

It would be useful to be able to do this w other books.

I recently downloade a file from regarding business card styles. Since then I have been unable to use mailings, envelopes and lables in Microsoft Office Word 2007. Anyone any ideas as to how to rectify? I have tried another download of Word and microsoft have not been very helpful - Indian helpdesk I think. Thanks in antcipation.

Hi,It seems to me that whatever i seem to modify in Word 2007, for example; Font, Heading, Page layout, what ever view I choose it always reverts back to its original state when shutting down, even when I ok it at the time. How can I modify something which will permanently stay how I wish it to be without having to revert the way I wish it to be? Thanks for any help.

I use this facility a lot. There are a couple of documents on my list which I no longer want. Am I right in thinking there is absolutely no way to carry out a simple deletion from that list. If there is I can't locate it and would be glad for any help. Tks.

I've opened a document (.doc file) with Microsoft Office Word 2007.
The document is all written in Hebrew, and I have the Hebrew Language Pack that I've downloaded using Windows Vista's Windows Update application.

So, back to Word 2007.

For some reason, the "Find" button, located in Home>> Editing, is grayed.

When I click the "Find button, two options show up, and the first of them is grayed and I can't select it:

"Go To..."Click to expand...

Why is it grayed?
I just want to find a few words, and I don't understand why such simple action is not possible.

Hi to all and thanks for any advice, as usual. I transcribe in Microsoft Office Word 2007, having recently had to switch to 2007 from 2003. I also use a word expander (Shorthand for Windows). I have found that while I am typing in Word (after say a few hours or so) that the software seems to lag for just a split-second. When typing fast or using my expander, this makes for many spelling mistakes. Does anybody have any idea why this might occur? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Also, it seems if I reboot, the problem does not start again for a while. Thank you for any idea. I type for a living and this is really slowing me down.

Have you checked to see if there is an update for your expander software? Most likely an issue w/expander and Word 2007, if did not happen w/2003.

Also might try closing some running programs if not needed while transcribing, could be a resource issue.

Firstly may I say the only Microsoft Office program I have used is Office 2000 and although I have got to grips with most of the basics in 2007 watermarks,headers and footers that type of thing I for the life of me cant work out how to,1.Create or insert subdocments.2.paste special a link from an Excel file.I would appreciate any help with this it is probably looking me in the eye but I am blind to it at the moment thank you.

Hi all,
I have a Dell desktop Dimension 4600C and running XP. I installed Microsoft office 2007 and have repeatedly had trouble with my documents freezing. I have run diagnostics to no avail. It freezes, I have to control/alt/delete, and sometimes the recovery program saves it but often I lose the data, even after it has been saved multiple times. I am current on updates, but does anybody have any insight into why this is happening repeatedly?? Thanks for advice.

I do not know if I am writing on the right spot and I hope I do not offend anybody but I desperately need some help.I am not an expert in computers but i know for sure that i can mess it up easily without being able to fix it back.
I tried one day to convert a pdf document, setup with no option for printing in a word doc with the hope that I will be able to print it out afterward. I found a program that said it would convert doc ....i tried and of course it did not work.
The problem now is that when open a new Microsoft word doc i cannot write anything on the page and if I try to save a document I get a pop up that says

Select the encoding that makes your document readable.
Text encoding:
Windows(default) MS-DOS Other encoding here is a list w/dif

and underneath it appears the preview of the doc that is all signs ....letters....nothing readable

I clicked on all the options that I wrote in bolted letters and on all the countries but I just get different signs .....nothing readable

Can anybody help me fix this problem??

Have not had the above version of Word for long and would be grateful for some help.Pressing the Office Button reveals a list of documents that have been created. So I have some questions: -a)How do you delete a document from the list ?b)If I deleted a document via My Documents, it still shows in this do I delete it ?I have tried right-clicking on the document but the option to remove it does not appear.

Hello, We brought an ADVENT laptop as our Vaio blew up and i needed a new one for work. It came with vista but only a trial version of microsoft office word 2007.  Iv done all my paperwork for my bussiness on 2007 but the trial runs out at the end of the month and we cant afford to buy the full version just yet.  I noticed when i saved my last document that when i saved it acually comes up with a propmt that i think allows me to open it with other prorammes (like word) altough the documents may look a little different, but only if i checked the box, which i hadnt done with any of the other documentsSome of the documents are templates.Is there anyway i can convert them so i can open them with word just until  i can afford the full version.Any advice in simple terms pls as im a bit computer thick !!

When I exit MS Office 2007 Word a pane appears that says "Word has stopped working and will search for a solution" (which is never found) followed by "Word is re-starting." After the re-start, I'm able to exit Word without further messages or difficulty. This is more of a nuisance than anything else but I have the impression that the program (at least the version I have) may be somewhat unstable.

I've looked for a solution on the MS Support Web site to no avail and wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience with this program.

My O/S is Vista Home Premium; the MS Office 2007 is the Student and Teacher Edition; my computer is an HP Pavilion a6345f.

I have already downloaded microsofts free convert/export PDF/XPS and it works well but when i type out a document and try to save as in Rich Text Format there is no facility to do this that i know of. As i am new to Office 2007 i may have overlooked a command somewhere in the ribbon. Does anyone know if Rich Text Format is part of Office 2007 or failing that does anyone know of a solution?.The tutorials on microsofts website do not make any mention of Rich Text Format in any variation of their Office Suites or individual programs eg, word, excel, publisher or the rest . When I open a microsoft office word document a light blue screen comes up which is usually the screen behind the word doc that opens. In order for me to pull up the doc I am looking for I have to hit the menu on top left and click recent documents and then it opens the doc. Also, if I right click and choose word to open the doc an error message pops up saying "Windows cannot find C:documents and settings/administrator/desktop/charlie/d? make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again". I am using Office 2007 and this happens with every document I open that is a word document. It does not happen with Excel

Office Pro 2003 was all i ever needed. Then as everything the migration came.... Before when I was jobless I would just open my reume and fixup this and that and select cntrl P, drop down the menu to fax. Then a wizard would pop up and I would input all the fax numbers I wanted my resume to go to and presto.

So how in the sam hell you do that in office 2007? I cant find any help giving me a straight and easy answer.

If anyone can help me solve this problem I would greatly appreciate it. I just spent 4 days calling and collecting fax numbers. If there is a tool I need to download, I will do it.

It should be similar. All the CTL-P did in Office 2003 was print same as FILE > PRINT. You selected the FAX machine to print to and the FAX software would ask you for numbers etc.

I would assume in Office 2007 if you PRINT to the FAX machine you'll get the same dialog.

I used to have MS Works, but at last got office 2007. Im beginning to regret it. I find Word in it so awkward at times. First the default setting seems to be 1.15 spacing instead of 1. Also it appeared on the screen to be more than 1 space between lines, I adjusted something to do with space after paragraphs which seemed to fix that.However, I cannot select a portion of text and set it to, say, 2.0 (double) spaced, without the whole document changing too. Im almost certain i used to be able to do that in humble Works? Help!h

I can not open ms Word documents by double-clicking on them anymore, When ever I do so I get a mesage saying: "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
I do get the Word window open but there is nothing in it. I have tried this with .doc, .docx and .txt files and I get the same thing.
But I can open files if I first open word and then go to Open and select a document from there, but not by double clicking.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit and Microsoft Office Word 2007, can anyone help me?

I am unsuccessful in getting the association of .doc and .docx files with Word 2007.

I have tried two methods:
One using:
Settings > Control Panel > Default programs
Associate a file type or protocol with a program > Select .doc > Change Program
Select Microsoft Office Word > Click OK
The "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is grayed out.

Two using:
RT Click on a .doc or .docx file
Open with > Chose default program from context menu > select Microsoft Office Word
Check "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file". It is NOT grayed out
Click OK

The error on attempted open is "Windows can not find the file"
I can get them associated with Microsoft Works Word Processor but not with word 2007

This is similar to the solved problem that I posted on Jan. 27 in the software forum "Excel file won't open"

Not sure from your post if you have followed the exact procedure, in your first method, that worked with the XLS files? - rather than select the Microsoft Word option from the available programs list, browse to the winword.exe file which should be in the same area as the excel.exe file from previous.

If this does not help there is another method, in the control panel - uninstall programs - you should be able to right click on the Microsoft Office entry and select Change, then repair, which should fix this and any other issues

another option would be to select change, and without actually changing anything proceed through the procedure, (basically this would re-install office over the top of itself.
Sorry if these instructions are a little vague, I do not have access to a copy of either Vista or Office 2007 at the moment

Following is information on my laptop: Intel (R) CPU T225 @ 1.73 GHZ; memory 1015 mb; 3000 N100; System type X86-based PC Version 6.0.6001; Vista; Microsoft Office 2007

Problem: Microsoft word upon closing gives the following message: Word not responding. The program will not close and I have to usee control-alt-delete to get task manager and then end the program that way. This started happening sometime in June, it worked fine prior to that.

Also most recent problem: Just yesterday I had a problem with Internet Explorer not allowing me access to normal websites I go to, including this one. Part of this happened after I ran diagonistics to check for problems. I was told in the results there were fixes for some problems and to continue, which I did, but the website would not open; received a code of 403 (I think that was it) which says, I am not authorized to view results.

Anyway, I am sorry this is so long, but I really need word to work correctly because my online college classes are coming up soon.

This happens when:
Word 2007 is closed after working on a 2003 document
Word 2007 is closed after working on 2007 documents along with a 2003
document. Everything works fine until the last document is closed and word is
completely closed. And it does not matter whether it’s an 03 or 07 document.
Word 2007 closes correctly when working with only 2007 documents.

I have got office 2007, and everything work fine apart from Word processor, it loads up the office word 2007 orange screen on desktop but then just does not move from that. it did once, but that was about half an hour after i gave up hope on the blooooming thing.

I'm trying to help a co-worker here who just got a new laptop with MS Office 2010 & MS Word 2007 on it. She has a previously created document (MS Word 2003, I think) and is trying to check and uncheck checkboxes. This used to be under view/toolbars/forms, but as we all know, that is no longer the case with MS Word 2007. The problem is whatever I have searched tells me to click on the Microsoft Office Button, go to options, categories, developer tab, etc., but the problem is the Microsoft Office Button is no where to be found! I've tried everything! She just has file, etc., nothing, no little logo, nothing to the very left.

What am I missing?

This forum helped me a lot in the past and i hope someone can help me this time aswell.
I used to have a problem with blue screens on my toshiba laptop running vista. That problem was solved. However, since then microsoft office word 2007 is not working properly anymore. Whenever i try to save, open or close a file the program stops responding and crashes. I tried uninstalling microsoft office, scaning the computer registry with regsupreme pro and cleaning it and then reinstalling microsoft office but the problem persists.
The problem is only with microsoft word, all other office programs work fine.
My best guess is that something went wrong with some system file.
I have absolutely no idea what to do. If anyone can help me somehow i would appreciate it.
My last resort is formatting the computer which i would like to avoid.

1) i started word in safe mode and it works fine only while using safe mode. I started uninstalling programs with word adding with no luck in pinpointing the problem yet. Are there any tools to troubleshoot faulty addins? or anything that would help?

How can I get a dictionary to use to look up definitions of words in the Research tab in Microsoft Office Word 2007? My Word 2010 on another computer has an Encarta Dictionary give me definitions of words when I alt + click on a word, but I can't find a way to get the dictionary in Word 2007 on my laptop, even when I click on "Research options..." there's only a Thesaurus. Hi evereyone, can you help me please when I try to open word 2007 I get the message " setup is preparing files" then goes into configuration process, when configured Word is fine. but opening it again it has to go through same process. I have tried to repair with my Office Disk, but makes no difference. All other Office applications work fine.
It has been suggested that I should uninstall Office and reinstall, but am worried about losing all my outlook settings contacts emails etc, also My Documents and a very large Microsoft Access database file.

You can back up your Outlook contacts very easily. Here are the instructions. Uninstalling Office 2007 will not mean you will lose your documents just the ability to open then untill you either reinstall Office 2007 or another office program.

We have several users that are having a blue screen when opening a word or pdf file. We are running Windows 7 32 bit all the latest windows updates are installed.

I have a document in Microsoft Office Word 2007 that has information in the header that I would like repeated in the footer.

Essentially, I have two strings of text in the header. One is the name of the document and the other is the date it was created. I would like these two strings to be automatically inserted in to a specific spot in the footer each time they are updated in the header.

I get the following message when I open Excel, Word and Powerpoint (Publisher works, but dare I try any others?)

I'm running Windows XP x64. For some reason, when I go to hit insert and browse for a picture, it does not open. I don't know if this is just another glitch of OE in x64 or not. Already you cannot use spell checker in OE x64, and I'm not sure whether it was this way or not when I first loaded windows.

Im having a slight issue with registering my version of microsoft Office and its utilities on my Laptop. Im prompted when i open word for example to enter the product key (found on the under side of my laptop), when i enter this key it comes with a message saying " The key is incorrect, please verify you have the correct key then retype." This is the exact key from my laptop yet it still wont allow me to use word.

What should i do?

That Vista Product Key is for Windows Vista. It wont work for Office.

You need to activate Office online and purchase an Office Product Key / License.

OK, so I have researched and read several other users comments that are having/had a similar issue with this dialog pop-up error message from Microsoft Word 2007. The most common fix I have found is to search for "officeav.dll" and rename it to "officeav.old" and restart my computer. That sounded like a promising and easy fix. However, I cannot find that file on my computer, anywhere, so that solution obviously will not work for me, and I am desperately looking for another solution, and so now I am seeking your help, please...

I am running Windows 7, Service Pack 1, 64-bit version. I am using Microsoft Office 2007.

I recently was laid off, so I have been emailing my resume to potential employers, and when I attach my resume to my Outlook 2007 email, in .docx format, and then close Outlook, and Word (if it is happens to be open), I get several pop-up dialog boxes, but they are just duplicates of the same two separate dialog boxes, which repeat depending on how many attachments I include, or how many times I send emails with my resume/references. The first box states, "You cannot close Microsoft Office Word because a dialog box is open. Click OK, switch to Word, and then close the dialog box." Once I click OK, the second box states, "Word has encountered a problem." I click "Show Help" to get more information, and it states, "There is a problem saving the file..." If the pressing problem is to be able to send out your cv without experiencing this problem then you could create, if you don't already have one, a gmail account, which can easily be configured if necessary to show your usual email address. You will not then experience this problem.

I'll take a look at Office 2007 and see if I can replicate your problem.

Win7 64 bit. I want to capture a portion of my screen with snipping tool, and then send it in an email using gmail. When I paste it into the Compose screen of a new email, it looks fine but the email has nothing in it when received. Is using Outlook mandatory?

Also, I want to use the snipped pictures as inserts into forums to show examples.

I have Windows 10 and IE 11. I use to be able to copy pictures from the web to an Outlook e-mail. Now when I do it all I get is the http address and no photo. If this is due to Windows 10 I'll do a restore to Windows 8.1 and stay put. If this is a change to Outlook e-mail I'm not sure how I'll proceed. I still use Internet Explorer instead of Edge. I just had too many problems with the new browser. Also after I've been on line for awhile and when I go back into Outlook e-mail and try to respond to an e-mail I'll hit the "reply" but the sender's message doesn't appear at all. If I hit "forward" to share the e-mail with others the body of the e-mail is also blank. Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

I can no longer find a "picture" option on the Outlook or Outlook EXpress, Insert menu. I used to embed photos.

When I copy and paste from Powerpoint or the XP picture viewer (for saved photos,) it DOESN'T HAPPEN! An attached file is created, but that is all. I CAN paste in clips from Word or any captured view from Snag it.

Is this a problem caused by Xp updates to Outlook Express or Office updates to Outlook? I ran across this opinion while searching this site.

Is there a way to get around this situation without requiring an extra program?

Thank you for any help you can give me--I feel I am overlooking the obvious.

After right click properties on My picture folder and change a picture location in the location tab to an external hard drive in %userprofile%\My picture folder the My picture folder has disappear now from %userprofile%\ location.
I went to the registry in the Shell Folder and User Shell Folder \ My Pictures REG_SZ and change back to %userprofile%\My picture value but that seem not taking effect.

Hi all,

Super bizarre.

So I woke up this mornind to login into my PC and see that my profile pic is changed back to the previous one. I have not any changes myself.

skype is linked to microsoft account. (skype had my old picture)

other option is that someone logged into my outlook and chaged profile picture then it got synced...

I cannot find any information on why or how picture would revert. ( even more so on a specific date )

any ideas or leads ?

Hello newbiew, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Since you Microsoft account is synced by default, then it most likely automatically changed back after syncing.

If you wanted to have the same user account picture for all devices, then changing it for everything should help.

If you only wanted to change it on this PC, then you could turn off syncing for Appearance under "Personalization settings" using the tutorial below.
