Outlook 2010 calendar invite being recieved as plain text

Question: Outlook 2010 calendar invite being recieved as plain text

When Outlook calendar invitations are sent to certain recipients, they receive a plain text email as opposed to an actual iCal file. I have been doing my research on this, but have yet to find an answer. In order to narrow down the problem, I did a tightly controlled experiment:

I have Outlook configured to access email from several different POP3 servers, with all mail being directed to the same PST file. The first POP3 server is on my personal domain - I have a Linux-based VPS where the site is manage. The second POP3 server is a GoDaddy server.

Sent via my personal domain:
I created a first event in my Calendar and invited myself (personal domain). The message in the Sent folder is a proper iCal invitation and the invitation that I received is a proper iCal invitation. I then created a second event in my Calendar and invited myself (GoDaddy domain). The message in the Sent folder is a proper iCal invitation and the invitation that I received is plain text.

Sent via the GoDaddy domain:
I created a first event in my Calendar and invited myself (personal domain). The message in the Sent folder is a proper iCal invitation and the invitation that I received is a proper iCal invitation. I then created a second event in my Calendar and invited myself (GoDaddy domain). The message in the Sent folder is a proper iCal invitation and the invitation that I received is a proper iCal invitation.

In summary, the only instance that failed was when I sent the invite via my personal domain to another domain. (While my testing is far from exhaustive, this should at least provide a strong clue as to what is happening.) And yes, the Options->Calendar->When sending meeting requests outside of your organization, use the iCalendar format box is checked.

Can anyone suggest what might be going wrong? Based on these experiments, is it possible that something on my server is configured improperly? If so, what? (I did a further test and sent myself an invite via an Exchange server, and it showed up properly - thus I suspect even more strongly that the problem is with my server.)

Preferred Solution: Outlook 2010 calendar invite being recieved as plain text

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I left out one, potentially important bit of info: Outbound emails from my server are routed through MandraillApp. Some further testing seems to suggest that MandraillApp is the culprit. Has anyone else seen this behavior? If so, any suggestions for resolving the problem?

I have two addreses. One provided by my ISP and the other my web host - which we just switched this past weekend. I have spoken to the latter and asked if there is any setting they se anywhere that could convert HTML to text and naturally the answer was no.

Answer:Outlook 2010 html appearing as plain text

I'm using Outlook 2010 64bit as my client to my Hotmail account. On my previous computer, I had the same setup only 32 bit Outlook 2010 and it worked fine. On my new build, some but not all, HTML emails are being rendered as plain text. It seems to be more common if the client is running as opposed to starting the client. The emails are not specific to any sender and the weird thing is that I can move those emails that aren't rendering correctly to a temp folder in Outlook, sync with Hotmail, go to the Hotmail web interface and move those emails back to the inbox from the temp folder, resync and they show up rendered as HTML in my Outlook client. That tells me that it isn't the emails themselves. I have found no other way for Outlook to recognize these emails as HTML once they have been opened in the client. Weird no?

I got a couple of invites and when I go to accept them, I get an error message that says it can't be deleted either because it already was deleted or access is denied. There are multiple entries for each attempt on the calendar and I can delete them. I also get the error message when I choose decline or tentative. Any ideas on why this happens?

I send invites to lots of all day events from my Outlook 2003 to users who have Outlook 2010. When I send these through I set them to not have reminders set. However, when they get accepted to Outlook 2010, it sets a reminder which means they are being woken up at 11.45pm by reminders for these events. I assume this is a compatibility thing between the two versions? Does anyone have any ideas on this?

This is becoming a real pain for our managers so any assistance that anyone can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks, Stephie

I am really stuck!!

my MS Outlook account is on my desktop PC (wireless & Vista)
I also have a laptop using live mail (wireless & Win7)

what I can't fathom is that when I send emails from my desktop they are not being recieved at my work address (outlook 2003). bit of a pain this. There is no notification back, and it seems everyone else gets emails from my desktop no problems.

From my laptop I can email my work account no problem.

Can anyone help please?

I reloaded the whole desktop system from file recovery image disks the other day back to a year ago. Before I did this, the desktop was sending emails that were not being recieved by others, such as my father, but now he is recieving the. The only recipient not recieving them is my work accounts (I have two and they are uk government accounts).

Appreciate any top tips. Thanks.

Machine:  PC Win7 Professional SP1 up to date with all updates., Outlook 2010 as my POP3 e-mail client.  Machine is one of 2 identical boxes set up behind a router.  Running Norton Internet Security - Comcast's free version (which as far as I can tell is identical to the commercial version).

Machine is new as of April 2014.  I have 5 POP3 e-mail accounts.  My ISP is (unfortunately) Comcast.  Since the machines were new, I have had zero problems with e-mail.  I really dislike webmail, so I have all my accounts set up in Outlook 2010.

Starting 5 days ago, e-mails sent from any of the 5 POP3 accounts send fine, they show up in my "sent" folder, but never reach the recipients.  I get no "bounce" notices or any other indication that anything is wrong, the e-mails just don't get there.  If I log into Comcast's webmail, the e-mails get received as they should, but using Outlook, they don't.  Nothing has changed on the machine, no changes made to Outlook, etc.

I went through 5 days of ridiculous Comcast nonsense being shuffled from tech to tech, ticket to ticket, spent hours on hold, well...you get the picture (especially if you're a Comcast subscriber.)  They basically did nothing for me other than trying an alternate set of server port numbers, which didn't work.  After 5 days Comcast closed the ticket on me with the statement that "our only requirement is to provide you with webmail.."... Answer:Outlook 2010 E-mails Send but Not Recieved

What are your outgoing server (smtp) settings? The issue could be related to those settings although you would generally get an error message.Nothing unusual about mail not sending from an email client but will send from webmail. For the record, I don't blame you for not wanting to regress to using Comcast webmail. It has issues and every time they fix an issue or "upgrade" webmail something that used to work gets broken. I don't go to Comcast webmail very often but when I do I am reminded of why I don't use it.

Hi
There is a delay in receiving emails on outlook 2010 in windows 7. I immediately recieve emails on ipad and owa but not on outlook.

So far I have tried deleting email account from my profile and that didn't worked.

I also deleted the outlook profile and that also didn't worked.

Any suggestion?

The outlook is installed my laptop and I have no issue with Internet connectivity on it. It puts connected through Dame wifi that the ipad is connected to..

Answer:Emails are recieved with delay on outlook 2010

This is because Outlook is not constantly checking for new mail but instead in predefined intervals. You can change the time interval for sending and receiving new mail in Send / Receive settings.

First open the Send / Receive Groups menu and select Define Send / Receive Groups:
Set the time interval (highlighted yellow):
Set the value to 1 minute to force Outlook to pick new mail every minute. Personally I have to say I really cannot see any reason to have Outlook constantly checking new mail, even at work it's enough for me to check 4 times per hour.

I'm using Outlook 2003. Sometimes, when I reply to or forward a message, the format changes from "HTML" or "rich text" to "plain text", thus losing all colour and font information.

Does Outlook have an option to prevent this?

Answer:Outlook switches to plain text

The format is based on the senders options in the received email.

Remember that if the sender has chosen plain text, even if you respond in HTML it will probably be stripped out at their end.

Is it possible to have Outlook pick a signature to use based on the email style formatting (HTML or Plain Text)?

For example if it was HTML the company logo will show, if it isn't the company name will be written in plain text.

Answer:Outlook Signatures for Plain Text and HTML

Yes, it generates 3 different files. <signature name>.htm, <signature name>.rtf, and <signature name>.txt. The appropriate file is used depending on the format of the message you send. Check %appdata%\Microsoft\Signatures.

When I send an email to several individually named recipients, some are able to see an embedded gif and some get it as plain text. Is there something I should change in my settings to avoid this? I am running Windows XP Pro and Outlook 2003. Thank you!!

Answer:Outlook 2003: HTML to Plain Text

If some are receiving it properly, then the problem is not at your end, the ones who are seeing it as plain text need to change their settings to allow HTML and to show images.

My dad recently got a new laptop to replace his five year old beast. On that five year old beast is thousands upon thousands of very important business emails and legal documents. Naturally, he needs to have access to these emails.

Due to his concerns about getting his new laptop up and running, I didn't get to do the logical thing and transfer his old emails and settings over to his new laptop before he started using it. Now, it's been over a month and his new laptop is quickly accumulating new piles of vital emails.

I need to find a way for him to read his old emails quickly and easily.

He uses Microsoft Outlook. I've got the original computer with all the emails on it as well as his new computer. Can I import his old email into Outlook on his new computer without losing any of his new email or overwriting his new settings? Failing that, is there a way for me to view his emails, as saved by Outlook in .dbx files, in plain text?

Note: this isn't a situation where I can just try something and hope it works. My dad's a lawyer and losing a single email can be roughly equivalent to the end of the world. So I'm not going to do anything experimental like trying to import his old emails just to see if it works unless someone knows for sure that it will.

Answer:Read emails in plain text without Outlook

Ah I was going to aim you at a small app that was free but now costs $5 called DBExtract as it will do exactly what you need.

http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx

it recovers the emails into a text file, sadly leaves the header and footer info ( email server info etc in the text file )

Worth a look at the app anyhow, their maybe an older free version still knocking around on the net.

I am asking this on behalf of a friend. She says:

I am running Windows XP on a stand alone PC. I have recently bought and installed Office XP Professional.

Until now I have used Outlook Express for all my e-mail. I now would like to use Outlook 2002, but find when I send a message that was composed in HTML, it converts it to plain text. They are still in HTML in the 'Sent Folder' but are always received in Plain Text. I have tested this by sending to myself and to several others, who normally would receive HTML messages from me.

I have checked all the settings...Tools/Options/Mail Format Tab...'Compose in this Message Format'...HTML etc.

I have used Detect and Repair, and have Re-Installed Office. I would really appreciate any suggestions.
This has got me stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions to try?

Answer:Outlook 2002 Converts To Plain Text

It kinda happens to me too. Some messages I get in HTML, others i get in text - which were suposed to be in HTML.
I have a theory that it's because that HTML onces have something like this in front of them
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

And the html onces that show up like text don't.
Perhaps it's because only programs that make HTML emails can get though as HTML.

Anyone else have any idea's on this?

Hello there, hope you can help.

I am running WIn98 (Dont laugh!! lol) and Outlook Express and I have quite a few Yahoo Groups that I run where members can send me email from.

The problem is that I want to be able to have the option of reading any email that arrives in my Outlook Express box as a plain text file, the reason for this is as you know, viruses etc can travel in so many forms and this would be easier for me do without the disadvantage of possible attacks.

I thought it would be as easy as a Read As Plain Text in the Read option but I dont appear to have one.

If it's not possible that way, is there a add on for Outlook Express that will do the job.

All the best.

Richard

2. When replying to a Plain Text email, my signature is not automatically inserted. My signature is in Plain Text. What the..? But if I reply to a HTML email, it inserts my signature.

Is there a way to set Outlook (2002) to send Plain Text Emails through a certain account?

I just started a work at home position, and they like any emails that are sent through their accounts to be plain text. I've already set it so that if I am sending an email to 'so and so' it will send it in plain text. However, there are times I will be emailing customers, and I obviously don't have their email addresses ahead of time. Besides manually changing it to plain text, is there a way to set the work accounts to only send plain, without changing my personal accounts?

Thanks,
Erin

I monitor an email group using Outlook 2000 for applcation support here at the office. Sometimes when I respond to an email that was sent by another user, and also replay to the group server, the main group server rejects it and says I am not sending plain text. I do have Outlook set to send pain text. Under "Options" "Mail Format" I have "plain text" selected. When this happens it is when I am responding to an email that someone else has sent to the group. His email was accepted by the server so it was obviously "Plain text", but something is happening when I reply to it that adds something to convert it from plain text, or at least the email server thinks it is no longer plain text. (This is a private group, and not a Yahoo group or such as that). Does anyone have a clue as to what might be happening here?

Im running MS Outlook 2002 and recently I changed the setting in the registry (ReadPlainText Value=1) and I am still receiving messages in HTML. Not all, but sometimes especially from spammers.

I DO NOT want to receive messages in HTML in Outlook 2002. How could I double check the settings again to make sure of this, or how could I even test it myself?

I read an article that you have to do the following to Enable to RECEIVE messages in Plain Text. I did the registry value change though. But once I download this download ZIP file, what do I do with it after I extract the ZIp file??? And where should I save this ZIP file before downloading??? Here are the instructions that I do not really understand:

In Outlook 2002, you must download the latest service pack and add a setting in the registry. Instructions on how to do this is here: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;307594
Ensure you have the latest service pack already installed and you can download and apply this registry patch: Outlook2002PlainTextFix.zip ~ 330 bytes

Windows XP
Outlook 2003 (POP3, no exchange server)

I have a user on our network who is experiencing a really long lag time for printing plain text emails, but not for HTML emails. All other applications (Word, IE, etc) are also printing fine. The lag time can be up to several minutes, and he's found that when he does a ctrl alt delete it will prompt the printing window to come up (with the task manager), and then he can print. It's not a debilitating problem, but it's really annoying. I've already tried deleting and recreating the outlprnt file, but to no avail.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

He receives one email a day from the same sender that when read the email is basically in code, with no photos, icons, etc.. and at the top of the email it says "plain text". I'm trying to resolve a problem for a client who is using Outlook 2000. They use the HTML format in their emails as they have a nifty signature and use other HTML options. They also print these emails. When they print, the formatting of the email is different from what is on the screen. Once I switch the email to plain text, the onscreen appearance resembles the printout, but the signature is also converted leaving a mess. There is no line wrapping on the printout (in HTML mode) either and some parts are printed off the page.
Thanks for any advice.

I'm a new user to Outlook 2003. My question is can I set up outlook somehow to automatically format my responses to be in HTML format, regardless of the format of the original email I received? I think this was an option in Outlook 2000, but I can't find that particular setting in 2003...

The reason I'd like to do this is because my signature is automatically placed in every reply, but in responses to plain text messages the signature looks very...plain.

A different but related subject - if I were to set up email messages to NOT automatically insert a signature, can I then insert the signature on my own? In Outlook 2000 I could go to "Insert" and select a signature, but there is not signature option in the Insert pull down menu in 2003 emails.

Thanks.

We use Outlook 2007 in our office. About two weeks ago, all of the emails I have been sending to the boss have been arriving in her Inbox as Plain Text. This morning she didn't receive the new staff member's email contact info I attached to a group message...everyone else in the office received my message in HTML, with the attachment, no problem.
I did some surfing this afternoon...found suggestions to check Email Settings under Trust Centre in Outlook...not the problem. Also found some allusions to AVG being the problem, checked those settings, again...not the problem. We need to get this sorted ASAP.
Thanks very much for your help!

Answer:Solved: Outlook suddenly changing HTML to plain text

More surfing last night found this...

Open the Contacts folder in Outlook. Double-click the contact you want to change.
Double-click the contact's email address.
Uncheck "Send plain text only" in the "Internet Format" box. Press "OK."

When I got to work this morning and looked, sure enough...Send Plain Text only had somehow gotten checked. I unchecked it, sent a test message and all is good again.

Bizarre!!

My office recently upgraded to Office 2007. By default, Outlook is configured to convert all incoming messages to plain text. This is a setting that we do not have the rights to change. However, when we used to have Outlook 2003 all the emails that were originally in HTML format could be converted back to HTML once we opened up the email and verified it was a trusted email. There was simply a "convert this to HTML" option that would show up somewhere in the header. This is no longer the case in Outlook 2007.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to convert the text to HTML on INCOMING emails. Outgoing isn't a problem. I've even tried editing the incoming email or forwarding it and then converting to html but it doesn't display properly. Any images that were in the email can only be viewed one at a time by clicking directly on the picture link, but not with the rest of the email.

Any ideas?

Am using Vista Home Premium and Outlook 2003.

Sometimes, but not always (even during the same send/receive) Outlook 2003 converts incoming HTML email to plain text. This has been happening on and off for the last three weeks.

Outlook options are set to NOT convert to plain text and to use Outlook as email editor, with html for new messages. There are no add-ins or com options installed.

Like I said, this doesn't happen all the time, but does happen every time from one particular address. I've check with him and all other people sent the same email received it OK.

Am also using Avira Antivir for email virus scans.

Help would be appreciated!

When I open a new message to compose in outlook, it auto opens in html. when I change this

These incoming messages are suddenly displaying in a smaller font, Time New Roman 10 (or some paragraphs Tahoma 10) even though the more readable default font Consolas 10.5 is still set there.

No changes to font and size in that dialogue have any effect at all on *received* plain text messages (but new *created* messages respond to changes made in the dialogue)

Created plain text messages correctly use Consolas 10.5 or any other setting when selected, the problem is only received plain text messages.

Anyone have a clue?

Hi, I haven't found an answer to this yet, so I'm opening another thread.

I'm using Outlook 2003 in Win 7, and occasionally emails arrive (from gmail and hotmail accounts) that should be HTML but have been converted to plain text, with all the background HTML code (makes for long messages) and none of the pictures or graphics the sender sent.

It happens occasionally - mail from the same source sometimes comes through as HTML, and sometimes is converted to plain text and un-readable.

The Read All Standard Mail In Plain Text cb has always been clear; I don't have any add-ins installed; don't have AVG installed (I don't have any anti-virus programs installed at the moment).

Anyone have any other ideas I can try?

Answer:Outlook 2003 sporadically converts incoming HTML mail to plain text

It depends on how the sender is sending the email. Do all other emails from all other sources come in in the correct format?

I have my default email format set to .html. When I compose a new message it looks like everything's working just fine. I send my .html message and even in my sent box, it shows that my .html message formatted properly. However, when others open my messages, they have been converted to plain text. I've checked my office-mates computers and they do not have the setting "convert incoming messages to plain text" so that can't be the problem. I've tested it with 5 people using Outlook who can receive .html messages just fine. I've tested it with my Yahoo address to. For some reason, Outlook is converting my .html (and Rich Text too) email messages into plain text. Everyone else in the office sends and receives html email with a nicely formatted signature just fine. Why can't I? Please help!

I'm running Windows XP with Office 2003 SP 2.

Thanks,

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2003 Bug - html outgoing emails converted to plain text

Do you have any anti-virus software running on the PC? Some antivirus software may install an Outlook add-in that may convert the message to plain text to avoid spreading of viruses. Check under your "Add-Ins" and disable them all to see if one of the add-ins is causing the problem. If you are on an Exchange server the admin may have also disabled this functionality.

I've had a persistent problem for several months since I migrated to a new hard drive. Outlook 2010 calendar is working, but only in Active List view. Any attempt to change to Preview or Calendar view produces the error message, "Could not read the calendar." Changing from Active List to List works some of the time, but inconsistently and sometimes it will hunt for the list and offer the same "Could not read the calendar." error message. This is very frustrating as I find it difficult to manage the list view and am accustomed to seeing the calendar week view.

I use an Android phone and use gmail and Google calendar to see mail and appointments on my phone. So, I've got Google Calendar Sync 0.9.4.1 running. Google Calendar Sync appears to be operating normally. I have a nice calendar view on my phone or web-based from my computer. I have tried adding the Google calendar to Outlook but it is a duplicate of the default calendar and I can't set it as the default. Also, MS Office does not permit me to delete the default calendar.

I don't like any of the work arounds. I just want the calendar to work like it should. Research discloses no real hint of anything that works including running scanpst. Scanpst does a great job at fixing the problem by wiping the whole calendar thanks very much MS.

I changed to Outlook 2010 in 2011.
The ?calendar? will only allow 2 entries for a particular day to be displayed in the ?month? view. Any more than 2 and they are hidden with a silly little ?down? grey pointer that is easy to miss.
My previous version (Outlook 2002 in Win XP) showed a lot more detail in the ?month? view.
I have set the calendar for ?High Detail? but whatever setting doesn?t seem to make any difference.
Does anyone know if there is a solution to this?

Hello;

I have an end user (CEO Admin) who generates recurring meetings for senior staff. When she adds an attendee to a meeting, she chooses the option to send only to this attendee - but when saving the change, the notification still goes to all attendees. While not catastrophic, the issue needs resolution.

She is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit with Office 2010 32 bit.

Thank You and I appreciate your help.

Anyone know how to send a URL link to a public calendar within outlook 2010? We are using a third party company to host our exchange and we have calendars for each department. If we want to have someone join the calendar, is there a way to just send them a URL that will open the calendar? I hear there is publishing to the internet etc... We rather keep our companies internal information internal. I don't want to publish it to send someone a URL, is there another way to do this?

Hi all,

All of you ye know, that in outlook (in "calendar" screen) more then one calendar is available. In my case under "my calendars" link appear 2 calendars, called: "calendar" and "birthdays calendar". The first one is just calendar, where holydays, tasks and so on (except birthdays) are marked and another calendar is only full of my contacts' birthdays.

Could I combine them? I don't like having more then one calendar. I'd rather have ONE and full calendar, where all events (tasks, holydays and so on together with birthdays) are given.

If anyone knows how to combine two calendars, please help me.

Thanks in advance.

What I'm trying to do is just set an event on the calendar as an appointment and then have a reminder sent to me one week before.

I thought I had set it up but I haven't received any type of reminder (not sure if it will be an email or a popup alert of some kind) for a test that I set up.

The default reminder is set for 15 minutes in Options - Calendar - Calendar options but I know you can change that for each individual appointment that you set up.

So I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Also, how do you access the calendar without having to turn the ToDo bar on which takes up a lot of the screen on the right side?

Our company has Office 2010 installed and we are trying to share a calendar. The main calendar is controlled by the secretary and viewable by others. What I am running into is that the "Share Calendar" and "Calendar Permissions" is greyed out - not sure why or how to UN-grey them.

I have also tried to "Publish Online" and have tried several variations of www.location.com and get no where - when publishing to WebDAV. When I try the Office.com direction, I get a "must register to Office.com first" message.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

Much thanks in advance...

Hi

Is Outlook controlled by an Outlook Server in our company as if so then sharing calendars should be simple and if you cannot share then its an issue the network admin needs to address.

We use Outlook 2010 in work and Server is set to accept sharing of calendars and dept email addreses.

I have a strange situation with Outlook 2010 (using Windows 7 HP), whereby dates of birthdays have become corrupt.

I have family birthdays set up as recurring events. I recently noticed that some of them have been corrupted, in that three that occur in December have been changed to different months: one to January and two to April. I became aware of this because the ?reminder? for a December birthday appeared yesterday (15th April).

I say I use Outlook 2010, but the situation is a bit more complex: I have two older PCs running Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003 respectively and I synchronise these regularly with the Outlook 2010 PC, using Code Two Outlook Sync. I also use Kies 3 to synchronise the Outlook 2010 PC with my Samsung Galaxy S4.

I don?t know exactly when the corruption occurred, but I have been doing the aforementioned synchronisations for several years without problem.

The strange thing is that I have a number of other, annual recurring events and none of them seems to be affected. My concern is that whilst I immediately spot the errors in family birthdays [because I know them], there may be other reminders [e.g. to pay bills] that I?m not so familiar with, and I wouldn?t necessarily spot it if they had become corrupted.

Any suggestions as to the cause would be very welcome!

I'm using Microsoft Office 2010 and Windows 10 on a desktop computer. All functions work OK except the calendar. The calendar has worked in the past and I am unsure exactly when it ceased to function. When viewing mail and I click on "Calendar" in the left column, I get the message, "The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened."
The calendar in my iPhone, drawing information from Outlook, is still fully functional.

How can I restore information to the desktop version of Outlook calendar?

Restarting Outlook has not helped. So far this is only happening in the public calendar. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably a silly question, but did you place a check mark in the boxes to the left of My Calendar and Calendar first?

GoodSync.com will allow you to sync Outlook... If you sync your desktop calendar to a free SwissDisk account then sync your laptop to the same account everything should match... Good luck and note, SwissDisk is end-to-end encrypted. So you can even safely sync your laptop Calendar over Starbucks free WiFi with no worries because you are connecting to SwissDisk over a secure link! Enjoy!

I recently switched from outlook 2007 to 2010. My question is, how do I open a group shared calendar? In the 2007 and 2003 versions I would click in the shared calendar and then Actions, view group schedule. I cannot figure it out in the 2010 version. The methods I have tried, give me a list of everyone's calendar under "other calendar" in the navigation pane. I can check off each individual calendar to view their schedule, but I prefer the 2007/2003 options that would open a separate dialog box with a list of everyone and their schedule laid out horizontally. Any help would be appreciated!

How can I check which reminder is from which Calendar list?

Somehow, Microsoft Outlook 2010 is using 2 of the 8 Calendars to show the same reminders.

I have since unticked the 2nd Calendar which I don't need, however the reminders from the 2nd Calendar still appear.

I need to Dismiss the 2nd Calendar's reminders, however I'm not sure if I'm Dismissing the 1st or 2nd Calendar's reminders?

Thanks if anyone can help on this mystery.

I have fixed this by manually typing in Calendar list 1 in Calendar data.
Then opening up both Calendar reminders and reading which one has Calendar list 1 in the text field.
Another slow and manual fix for this email client.
Anyone know how other email clients compare to this product?
I know Apple's backup service is on a higher par not comparable with Microsoft.

Greetings and I hope you can help me find a solution!
I have Win 7 OS on both my laptop and desktop. I've installed the same trial Office 2010 to both (ran it concurrently with 2007 to begin with but decided that 2010 was the one for me.) Both set-ups ran w/ no problems, then the Outlook on the desktop started crashing when I attempted to change the calendar (my school teaching schedule -recurring occurances) It would let me use mail, etc. but would (still does) crash when I attempt(ed) anything more than just look at the calendar. I've done the following: Uninstalled Office 2007; uninstalled and then reinstalled-first pro plus 2010, now office standard 2010 (new trial download direct from MS)-- uninstalled...then reinstalled new hotmail connector app. Ran sfc /scannow...OK Amazingly (to me) it remembered my calendar (and ability to crash!) through all this. It now will crash on attempting to open outlook half the time (or more frequently)It looks like ntdll.dll is a cause. Attached is a couple of the problem "details" after crash. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I couldn't find "software" or "other problems".

I've tried dozens of programs. I've websearched for hours. I now come to you on bended knees.

First problem: I want to be able to set a hotkey, that inserts a pre-defined line of text into any text editor. I want to do a bunch of different ones. Say, ALT+SHIFT+D = [email protected], and ALT+SHIFT+C = I love you too, honey. I want to be able to do this so I don't have to get carpal tunnel typing in the exact same same word or phrase hundreds of times a week. I couldn't find a program that worked like this, or I couldn't figure out how to make it work (like AutoHotKey... I read the first page of their tutorial three times and each time I needed an aspirin afterwards), because I am not a propeller head and thus incapable of wrapping my mind around any language that isn't the king's English. :)

Second problem: I want to be able to copy plain text and paste as plain text, but I do not want to CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+C or WINDOWS+V. Big no. I just want to CTRL+C, CTRL+V like I've done my entire life. Like I've said, I tried a bunch of them, and the few that let you choose the hotkey, for some unfathomable reason pout and stick their noses in the air when you ask them politely to set it to CTRL+C or CTRL+V.

Thank you and have a great week!

I installed Office 2007 for a couple of people at the office last week. Today, one of the ladies asked me about how to get the appointment text to wrap in the monthly view - high details. When she prints the calendar, most of her appointments are truncated at the edge of the daily boxes and provide little information about the appointments for the day. She showed me an old printout of a monthly view calendar from her old office xp and a few of them seemed to have small 'text boxes' that word-wrapped. I could find no such optoin for Office 2007. The font size is already small....are 'text boxes' available for outlook 2007 Calendar, or can text be wrapped ?

Does anyone know of a free, reliable app to sync a Samsung Galaxy 2 Tab 10.1 (S Planner) with Outlook 2010 Calendar and Contacts. I've tried Kies but without success; many others also seemingly being unable to get Kies to work reliably.

Answer:Synchronising Outlook 2010 Calendar with Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

This is not easy which is one reason why I went iPhone instead of Samsung recently. Google Calendar Sync used to be available and synced the Outlook calendar with Google calendar fairly well. Contacts were more difficult and apart from Kies I never found a good way. There are programs out there which state that they do it but I haven't tried them.

We use Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2010.
There is a calendar in the public folders. Several People have the permission as "author" for this public Folder calendar.

One of the "authors" creates an appointment with a reminder in his own calendar.
Then he copies this appointment with the reminder to the calendar of the public folder.

A public Folder itself does not Support a reminder in the calendar. But if you copy an appointment with a reminder from your own Outlook calendar to the calendar in the public Folder, then a reminder in a calendar of a public Folder is supported.

The result is: Every other "author" gets this reminder popping up in his own Outlook calendar.

The question is: How to prevent the reminders popping up in the outlook of the other "authors"?

Going round in circles and getting stuck! 1 You do not need to use a outlook.com or live.com email address for a Microsoft Account.
2 in the Microsoft account on your phone you only see the e-mail box because the calendar, contacts are automatically synced so you can not disable this. Only for your e-mail you can decide to sync or not to sync.
3 Now i am not sure what email you use for the outlook 2012 if this is the same as you use for the phone and pc the calendar and contacts should be synced. I you use a live.com or a outlook.com address for it then you could at this outlook.com/live.com account as separate "outlook account" on your phone (So not as a Microsoft Account because you only can use 1 Microsoft account on your phone)
4 If you use a live or outlook.com for outlook 2010 you also could use this as Microsoft Account.

I?ve been asked to find out if there?s a way to ?list? a bunch of holidays on everyone?s calendars. I know there?s a holidays feature in Outlook, but it only includes certain holidays and can?t be managed via GPO.

I need to create a shared calendar that HR maintains that has all of the holidays that they want listed. Then add that calendar to everyone?s default view? If this can't be done, what other options do I have?

I use Outlook (2003) regularly for work, frequently printing out the day's appointments to take with me on various job sites. The problem is that Outlook limits the amount of text that one can type in the subject area (about two short lines).
I know that if I double click on any given appointment I get a whole text area where I can type in as much text as I want. Unfortunately this is of no help to me, as it doesn't appear in the calendar when I print it.
Does anyone know how to set Outlook (or have a registry fix) that will permit more text to be written in the subject area?

Thank you

I'm having problems with iTunes being unable to sync calendars with my iPhone.

In order to eliminate or incriminate iTunes interaction with Outlook I'd like to capture a trace of the COM (I assume) interactions between iTunes and the Outlook calendar APIs.

Is there any way to do this?

Thanks

I am a desktop support tech and one of my users is having a problem where they will accept an invitation to a recurring meeting and either the meeting will not appear on their calendar or the first meeting will show up as accepted and all the other meetings in the series will be shown as tentative. I have looked high and low on the internet yet have found nothing to help, i am open to any and all suggestions and ideas, or if some one knows what is causing this a solution.

Thanks,
D

When I pull up the Month view of outlook calendar it doesn't show all of the things I have scheduled.

for instance, I have something at 2pm on April 30 and I don't see that unless I pull up the day and the detail of it. On the month view it's just a white square with no indication there's something scheduled. Other days if I have something all day it shows. Or maybe morning.

What setting do I need to tinker with?

Thanks

Answer:Outlook 2010 Calendar Month View Not Showing Things

I see some items not others. I don't think it's a lost PST file. If I open the day, I see the entries. I don't have many entries, but it would be nice to see them all in the month view. For Instance on May 7th, I see Teacher appreciation week (a week long whole day entry) but not a 9am webinar and a 2pm presentation although they show if I open the day view. May 8th I have the date bold in my little thumbnail calendar so I know there's something there; in the month view nothing, in the day view I see an activity scheduled for 9am.

It's crazy. I would like to see something in the month view to show me what's coming up.

Hi-
For some reason on one of our systems, running Outlook 2010, there is an issue with sending a New Meeting.

I select the Calendar. From the menu, "New Meeting". The New meeting screen opens. I enter in the subject, body, and have three contacts listed in "TO". That's it, and I click Send.

My recipients received this as a standard message, for some bizarre reason, all calendar data has been removed from the message, yet the item has been added to my calendar. Any thoughts?

Answer:Outlook 2010 - Clicking New Meeting does not send as a calendar appt.

did you install sp2?
did this happen after you installed it?
if yes, there is a problem with outlook 2010 when you install service pack 2
Microsoft is aware of this problem and is working on a fix, so far this is not one
but you can see all the problems with it here

Outlook 2010 Calendar Folder property is empty - Microsoft Community

read all the posts people have made, it has to do with the calender part of the program among other things

Is there a way to have Outlook 2010 sync it's To-Do bar with a Windows Live webmail calendar?

I'm using Outlook 2010+latest version of Outlook Connector +Windows Live webmail. Calendar sync works fine in both directions but the Outlook To-Do bar only displays upcoming events from the local "Outlook" calendar, not my @live.com calendar (even though in the Outlook calendar pane the local calendar is unchecked and the @live.com calendar is checked).

Answer:Outlook 2010: sync To-Do bar with Windows Live/Hotmail calendar?

You can definitely do that, here's how:

1. Click on the File tab.
2. On the Info screen (should be the default one that appears after clicking "File") click the "Account Settings" drop-down button.
3. Then click on "Account Settings" to go to the Account Settings screen.
4. Once at the Account Settings dialog box, click the "Data Files" tab.
5. Select your default e-mail account that you wish to sync your calendar with. (This would be your @LIVE account.)
6. All set! Enjoy your new To-Do bar with updated @Live calendar information.

This will also change a couple other beneficial settings, such as auto-recognizing contacts that are on your LIVE e-mail account.

From Microsoft Outlook:

"The default Outlook Data File contains the calendar that appears in the To-Do Bar and settings for Favorites, shared folders, and RSS feeds."

Hope that works!

When opening up a some messages the text is invisible. When highlighted it shows up as blocks. I have recently been trying to improve the visibility and drastically simply the number of features in Outlook 2010.

Hello,Before I used Lotus Notes and when I had a block of text I didn't want to see right away I inserted a "breakline". Inside that 'line' I was able to put the block of text. The body of the message looked nice and only in case one wanted to know more details he could click on that 'line' .. it expanded and the block of text was visible.I was trying to find similar feature in MS Outlook 2010 but failed.Does anyone know similar feature in Outlook?thanks

Answer:Hide the text in MS Outlook 2010

From the brief look-see/research I di on this I got the impression that it might have been viable with earlier versions of Outlook; even if one had to create/use a macro (as in one of the above links); or used an add-in item... But with 2010 version if appears that M$ (as per for most companies) decided to "phyxe sumat that wasn't broke" - and thus what you'd like to do isn't really viable...It seems that in pre 2010 versions of Outlook M$ Word was the editor in full; whereas with 2010 and later there is some form of link with M$ Word but not as was with earlier Outlook.Incidentally you're not alone in wanting the option; more than a few have blasted away at the absence of it...

Not sure if this belongs in here, but I opened my email today and I had an invitation to join the Office 2010 Technical Preview. I can't remember actually asking to be invited, so I don't know if they are just contacting people who are beta/RC testing Win7 or what, but I am d/l it right now as we speak. Gonna try it out.

I did; having an awful time with Outlook 2010. Between freezing, random errors and corruption ..

With Microsoft Outlook 2010, you can stay connected beyond just e-mail messages. Sending and receiving text messages (SMS) in Microsoft Outlook 2010 is a convenient way to send a quick note to say you are running late, a reminder to a co-worker, or just to say Happy New Year!

With text messaging in Outlook 2010, you can also forward your upcoming Outlook schedule or important e-mail messages directly to your mobile device as a text message ? a great way to stay connected when you are on the go.

Getting Started

There are two ways to set up text messaging in Outlook 2010. The easiest way is with a Windows phone running 6.1 with an update or 6.5, and connected to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 account. With this setup, your text messages are synchronized from Outlook to your mobile device for sending. As an added bonus, messages that you receive are synchronized back to Outlook for easy reading in your Inbox.

If you don?t have a Windows phone or an Exchange 2010 account, you can still configure text messaging in Outlook 2010 by signing up for a third-party service that sends text messages on your behalf. These services charge a nominal fee for message delivery, but there is a free trial period so you can try it out before you subscribe. Although the use of a third-party messaging service requires more initial setup, after connected, you can then send texts from the convenience of your computer. No longer will you be hunched over a tiny phone trying to... Read more

I am running Office 2010 and for some reason the Quick Text works perfectly on Word but in Outlook the option is greyed out.

Anyone know why this might be, they are the same version from the same office installation but I cant see why it would work in one but not the other. Emails are created in HTML, could that be it?

Is there an option to Download Pictures? A lot of times outlook will hide pictures until you display them.
