"Only send" account i Outlook 2010?

Question: "Only send" account i Outlook 2010?

Hi

Is it possible to create a "send only" account in Outlook 2010? I don't want to receive mails on the account. I use MAPI and no Exchange server.

Preferred Solution: "Only send" account i Outlook 2010?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: "Only send" account i Outlook 2010?

I know how to do this in Outlook 2003. It might translate loosely to 2010. You have to edit the Send/Receive Settings and define the Send/Receive groups. The keyboard shortcut for this in Outlook 2003 is Ctrl+Alt+S.

I don't use Outlook so I am unable to figure this one out.

My son uses Outlook 2010 and is having to go to some extra steps every time he wants to send a mail. Here's what is happening:
He composes or replies to a mail and clicks "Send".
It goes to Out Box and is not sent.
It sits in the outbox indefinitely, even for days as other mail is collected automatically every two minutes. He says he has Outlook 2010 configured to send on receive/check; but, it does not send.
In order to send that mail, he must open the Out Box and then open that mail (that is just sitting there unsent) and click "Send" again and then and only then does it get sent -- from Out Box.
This happens with all mail he sends.

Normally when you try to send an email from a link from firefox via "file->send link", your default email program automatically opens assuming it's not already open. If Outlook 2010 is already open, no problem; it works fine. If it's closed, I get the error below about a dll error telling me to reinstall outlook 2010. if I manually open Outlook, I can then email the link.

If I insert the Office 2010 disc to try a repair, I get an other error (below) saying 2003 was not uninstalled properly and to uninstall it before I can do the repair (gotcha-catch22-can't get there from here, etc....). I see nothing in add/remove to indicate there is a trace of Office 2003 remaining. I can send screen shots of the registry if desired, but see nothing there indicating 2003 was not removed fully, but could be wrong. I'm fine with surgical edits if necessary.

I've been running Office 2010 for a year with no other problems beyond this and it's possible this existed from day 1 and it just took me a while to notice it..

Any suggestion on how to either fix the dll issue directly, or deal with the 2003 uninstall hopefully without uninstalling 2010 and starting over?

Thanks.

Hi.

I'm new to the forum so hello to everyone.

I am running office professional 2010 and in outlook 2010 I have various email accounts.

lets say [email protected] and [email protected] etc etc

All accounts are from the same server and all have worked fine since setting them up.

I have all the account inboxes listed top left of the screen under favorites and just click on the desired account to see todays emails

Recently [email protected] causes outlook to "not responding" as soon as I click on the account.

Does anyone have any ideas what could have changed?

thanks

I have a W7 32bit laptop and I do not have MS Office installed. I have been using Hotmail until a couple weeks ago when I was "converted" to outlook.com email - which I like OK. When I'm using a browser - IE9 in this case - and when I click on "send link as" or "send page as", it launches Windows Live Mail and puts me in a WLM output email. I would instead like it to launch me into outlook.com and an outlook.com output email. How can I do this - or can't it be done at all?

If I've posted to the wrong board plz let me know which board to post it to.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I have been playing the game for a few weeks now in my spare time on my Windows 10 desktop and have acquired some bonus packs, a dozen vehicles, upgrades, unlocked 5 seasons, and moved my user rank up to 4824 in the multiplayer ranks amongst various other things. I do not want to lose my progress but for the first time i wanted to upload a ghost the other day and seen that (it seems) I will lose all progress if I log into Facebook now. Also, I noticed that my "local account" doesn't transfer my save data when I log into the game on my Windows 10 laptop (which is super inconvenient because I am rarely home). I seen topics posted that a Facebook sync fixes this but I am afraid I will lose all my progress.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Answer:On Windows 10: "Asphalt 8 Airborne" can I sync my "local account" with my "Facebook Account?"

I am with you on this. I'm having the same problem, and the Customer Care form at Gameloft is not set-up yet for inquiries on desktop platforms. Also, search engines are hard to trigger relative informaiton on the subject. I have no intention of changing over to my Facebook "version" if the progress isn't going to be transferred.
It's just a new problem brought around to headline the Windows 10 updates. I'm sure there will be a wait time, but there has got to be a flood of new Win10 users that are firing up their CC services for a fix.
If I find out that it fixable, I'll get back to this thread.

I have Outlook 2000 Inbox set up as follows:

( Notice the circle around the "Account" tab) But, my friend has Outlook XP and can't get the "Internet Account" tab to show which Internet Account (i.e. Comcast, Yahoo, AOL, etc) that the incoming email is from like mine is with Outlook 2000.

He can only get the "tab" to be displayed that states "Internet Account" but the tab's contents (unlike mine) remain blank when he gets mail from any of the accounts.

Is this done differently in XP compared to 2000 Outlook??? How can I get his "Internet Account" tab to show which account incoming mail is from like mine is in the pic???

Guys,

I am a little confused with regard to some of the mail options in Outlook Express. (I have version 6) What is the difference between the "Drafts" and "Outbox" folders?

Further how does the "Send Later" option work from the file menu? I always thought that "Send Later" was the same as using "Drafts" but what happend was that I was doing an e-mail, went to Drafts, or clicked on "Send Later" or Outbox and then after I clicked on "Send" doing a regular send, I checked my Sent folder and about 3 copies of the same message were delivered to the same person! (I only sent one message-not 3!)

What is the deal with the "Outbox" folder? Apparently that is not like the Drafts folder....correct?

What's the difference between doing a Save, Save As, and Send Later with regard to OE functions? If I want to save a message that isn't done yet, which of these 3 options should I use? (I.e, I want the message to go to the Drafts folder for example and stay there until I TELL OE to send it.) I think whatever I did above was that I modified my message and then click on where it just automatically sent next time I opened the message. A review of these features would be helpful!

Just for the record, I also use Yahoo Mail and find that so much easier!

Jack

Answer:Please Review OE "Send", "Drafts", and "Outbox" Options

Jack
To save an E-Mail to your Drafts folder for work on later then you use the File\Save option.
If you wish to save the E-Mail in another format such as .EML or .TXT or .HTM then you use the Save as function. You will also be required to specify a folder to save in or use its "My Documents" default.
Send later function if only one e-mail account exists will place the e-mail in the outbox and send it the next time you click on the send receive button. If you have multiple accounts then you can specify which account to send it from.

Hi
I have several business email addresses. I have just created a new one, but I can't change the 'email from' address. I set a new contact up for it so I could select it via 'other email address" but the next dropdown box down, the 'send email using' still doesn't contain this new email address.
It has its own folder into which email is delivered, but starting from there still doesn't help fix the problem.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for any help...

My friend is having a strange problem with their computer. They are using Windows XP Home Edition. After composing a new email in Outlook Express, and hitting the send button. The Install wizard pops up as if something is being installed on the computer, and then a second window pops up with a message (sorry I don't have the exact wording) relating to Microsoft Picture It! Stating that the file is located on a disc or other removable media. It's as if Microsoft Picture It! is attempting to install. All of these windows can be canceled and closed. The email will be sent as usual.

They are using Norton anti-virus software, which is up do date. We also ran Avast virus cleaner. The computer appears to be free of viruses. We tried reinstalling IE and OE, but it didn't help. I was thinking about unistalling both IE and OE, and then reinstalling to see if that would correct the problem.

What would cause something this weird? I have never run across anything like this before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Outlook 2003sp2 with Exchange 2003sp2.

When I try to "Send on Behalf" an email in mailbox that I have the appropriate delegated permissions where the email was saved in the Drafts folder my credentials are in the "From" field once the recipient receives the message. Even though I add the mailbox owner's name in the "From" field before sending.

Any ideas? This only happens when a message is stored in the Drafts folder. And to the best of my knowledge I used to be able to send from Drafts without issue.

Thanks for the assistance.

When I send an internet page by email (Outlook 2003), it comes through on the other's computer as a long list of "JPG's" and links to items in the article.

I do not understand why, as when I send it, it shows up in my email that I am sending as a whole page. I sent it to me and it showed up as a whole page. Yet, when I send it to someone else, the pictures do not show up, and it is all html code and lines and jpg's.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks!

The software/drivers for the module added Bluetooth features to the Office 2007 applications.

Every time I reply to an email for the first time, I get the following pop-up error box:

I can disable the pop-up error box by unchecking "Show add-in user interface errors" under "In all Microsoft Office Programs:" in Tools/Options/"Other" Tab/"Advanced Options..." button.

I'd like to know if there is a solution for this issue other than turning off the notification of the add-in user interface error?

This issue is resolve for now. The problem is a Bluetooth driver that causes issues with MS Office as well. See the link below for more details:

In addition to disabling the "Show Add-In user interface errors" option as described in post 1, you can disable the "Send to Bluetooth" feature under Tools/Trust Center/Add-Ins/Manage: COM Add-ins (drop down menu and click "Go")/uncheck "Send to Bluetooth."

With Win 7, you need to right click the application exe file, select "Properties"/Compatibility and check the box to run the program as an administrator to be able to uncheck the "Send to Bluetooth" options in all the Office applications.

Now, perhaps one in about every half dozen attempts, when I click "Send Receive", it freezes/hangs on the "Securing" part of the set up before it displays any messages. It remains frozen for about 15-20 seconds then I get an error message. If I try again it usually works?? Can anyone help please?

Did you try changing the from field to represent the mailbox you are trying to send on behalf of. Also on the Exchange server they can give you implicit rights which will make it not say sent on behalf of.

For some strange reason (aren't all of these computer problems strange?), every time I click on the "Send/Receive" button in Outlook 2002 I get a pop-up box that says "Operation failed". My email will send and receive on it's programmed time schedule, but not if I click on the button manually.

This just started yesterday as far as I know.

I've rebooted, run Spybot, Ad-Aware SE, AVG, and no problems show up.

Any ideas?

Using Outlook 2000 with multiple POP mail accounts, on one machine when I did this I had a little drop down next to the send button that allowed me to choose which account to send a new email message from.

On a different machine (still Outlook 2000) the second account was set up but there is no choice and it sends through the default account only, does anyone know how to fix this !

I have tried looking in the file menu but it only has "send" but it should have "send using" as well.

driving me crazy !

Answer:Outlook 2000 - multiple accounts but no "send to" option!

[tsg=welcome][/tsg]
Hmmm, if you have the multiple accounts set up properly, then you should be able to have the little drop down arrow on the send button to select which account to send from, but . . . .
right-click the toolbar int he opened mail and select Customize. In the Customize window, click on Commands tab, File in the left pane and scroll down in the right pane tioll you see Send Using. Click and drag that to where you want the button to appear on the toolbar and let go of the mouse button.

Click Close.

Now you can click that button to select which account to send with.

If the 2 accounts do not appear, then you do not have them both setup correctly.

Hi I run Windows Vista Home Premium and Outlook 2007. I've set up POP3 access for Gmail and to download mail from mail.bigpond.com (an Australian ISP). Initial setup was fine and I can send test messages to myself.

Recently I've had trouble sending (but not receiving) email via Outlook. The following error message is shown:

Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) email server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP).

This message occurs for both my email accounts.

If I reboot the computer, then sometimes the mail will be sent successfully. I've checked the "account settings" on Outlook- and they are exactly as those given by my ISP/Gmail. But when I click on "test account settings", the test message can't be sent.

What's going on?!

Answer:Outlook 2007 "Sending reported error"- can receive mail but can't send!!

Angela,

Refer to the earlier query in this section dated 10th April under heading " OE suddenly asking for Logon Password" which shows possible ways of overcoming this . I reckon it's server problem as I had it re-occur a couple of days ago . My Mail is Btinternet which started rejecting my outward messages. I know that BT uses Yahoo so Isubstituted "mail.yahoo.com" for "mail.btinternet.com" ( OE/Tools/Accounts/Properties/Servers) and it immediately started working . So whatever the ISP says it IS their fault and somehow their systems start rejecting things for no valid reason .

In any windows app (or at least all the ones I've tried), if I choose Send - As Attachment, outlook will open a new message, but the "Send" button seems to be disabled. It's not grayed out and it looks like I've successfully clicked on it, but it doesn't send or close the message. There's no error message - nothing. It's as if the button itself is fine but there's no action specified for the click. All the other toolbar buttons seem normal.

However, if I create a new message in outlook, and add the same file as an attachment, it sends the message with no problem.

I'm running Office 2002 SP3 on Win XP Pro Version 5.1.

Obviously since it doesn't completely prevent me from sending attachments, this isn't a huge problem, just an irritation, but I'd be interested if anyone knows anything about it.

I have MS Outlook 2002 SP-2, which I'm starting to use over Eudora 6 for a variety of reasons (mostly because Eudora seems to jumble up my older emails). However, it seems that Outlook doesn't have a function that I use very often, the "Send Again" where you basically re-edit a message you sent out previously to be sent again to the same recipient or others. It seems that this function would be very simple, but I haven't figured it out in Outlook. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there ... (hope my english is not to bad) ...

I have a Team of 5 people. Each team meber has its own email-adress / email account. Customers can reach individuall members by the individuall email- or the whole team by the email-list "CM-Mngt". So far so good.

Problem:If anyone replys to a customer (via his individuall email account), he puts the whole team in "cc", so that they are infomend.
But if the customer replies, most of the time they only reply to the one teammember. If this teammeber is of sick / vaction, the rest of the team stay?s in the "dark".

Looking fo a solution:Is it possible to configure the Outlook-Server / Account that way that:
Each teammeber is able to send either as him self, or to send an email with "Send-As", using n special/extra Email account called i.e. "CM-Mngt".
This CM-Mngt" account should only be able to SEND emails and does (should) not have an IN-Box.
If someone replies to on of the "CM-Mngt" Emails, Outlook should than use the Email-Mailinglist "CM-Mngt" to distribute the email to all teammeber individually (therefore the "CM-Mngt" account does not have an In-Box).
Would that maybe be possible with rule such as "if ryply button is used = always replay to email-list "CM-Mngt" and not Eamil-Account "CM-Mngt".

Thanks for your help
Cheers

Howdy folks,

After an uninvited guest visited my computer , and after we cleaned up his/her mess, a problem persists and I wonder if it indicates a larger problem.

When Outlook is not running, it checks for mail at regular intervals. When program is running, and I click "send/receive" the error "The operation failed" appears. When the program is running, it still checks at regular intervals.

It is possible that we screwed something up during twelve hours of cleanup, or it may be something malicious from the visitor.

It is weird. Any suggestions.

Thanks,

This problem started out on one of the machines in my office, now it's happening on several of them.

Machine config:
- Outlook 2007
- POP account
- antivirus regularly running/updating/scanning

Symptoms:
- User is running outlook like normal, then all the sudden Outlook gets stuck "Preparing to send / receive". Clicking the Send/Receive button does nothing, and it just sits there forever, apparently never actually making contact with the servers or doing anything at all.

My fix:
- I have to close down Outlook, but that's not enough.
- Open task manager, even though Outlook is closed, there is still an instance of it running on the machine.
- Manually close that extra instance, restart Outlook.

Then all the sudden it works, it sends and receives just fine. I thought the first user may have had a virus, but I've scanned ALL the machines in our office with Symantec Antivirus and nothing came up.

Also, this doesn't appear to ever happen on the two machines in the office who are running IMAP accounts.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I'm using Outlook 2010 for work emails. The program will run fine for an hour or so opening email attachments in a matter of a second or two, then all of a sudden it starts to take 15 to 20 seconds to open an "unread" attachment. An attachment that has already been opened will open quickly anytime.

I've tried disabling add ons. I've tried using CCCleaner to clean out the computer as well as it's registry scanner. I've tried deleting all of my other emails, saved, sent or deleted, so there are only a few in Outlook and nothing has helped. The only way that it will function properly again for a short period of time is if I shut down my computer completely and restart. Then, I'm in that same perpetual loop of working great for a little while, then it starts opening email attachments slow again.

Any ideas?

Answer:"Unread" email attachments open slow-Outlook 2010

I appreciate your response very much. I did try that and it didn't seem to help.

I'm going to throw a wrench in this and probably cause a lot more confusion, but I've recently found something that appears to have something to do with the problem. This computer is hardwired (ethernet) into a wireless router. About once or twice in a 10 hour period during the day, the router somehow disconnects the internet. I have to turn the router off for 15 seconds and it comes back up along with the internet everytime. For some reason, I've noticed that just before (and I'm talking 15 to 30 mins. before) the router disconnects the internet, the email attachments begin to open slow. As soon as I reset the router, the email attachments open normally.

Go figure? I honestly can't see how one has anything to do with the other, but I'm about 99 & 9/10's sure that the problem goes hand in hand with the router disconnecting. I've just recently (in the last few days) noticed this and have been monitoring and experimenting with it. So far, it happens everytime.

All of a sudden I could not find my sent mails in the Sent Items Folder. I looked for help from the forums and got a suggestion to create another profile to test whether I can see my sent mails there. I followed the instructions but there was not enough to lead me through so I don't think I completed creating a profile. Then I got another suggestion to purchase the Registry Booster to clean up my registry. After I did that I was able to see my sent mails again.

However I still continue to see the Outlook Data File Popup with the message "This data file has not been configured. Select an existing file to configure or try the name of a new file to create". After I clicked "OK" then I got another pop up to prompting me to choose a file from the Libraries.Documents directory. I clicked "Cancel" then I got another pop up with "Properities for this data file must be defined prior to use". I clicked "OK" and then I got the Outlook Data File Popup and the same subsequent popups again. After clicking through I was able to start my Outlook but when use the registry Booster to scan I got more error messages. So apparently these errors from Outlook is mucking up my registry. Anyone has any idea about this problem? Please help. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Helen.

Answer:Outlook 2010 Error message "This data file has not been configured"

Hi Helen,

Firstly, you certainly do not need any registry boosters to solve Outlook data file issues - was this a recommendation made by someone, or was this suggested to you by an automated pop-up? If its the latter, is there any chance you could be infected by some sort of malware?

To solve the Outlook issue, do you know where your Outlook data file is being stored? Can you do a search on your computer for all files with this extension:

.pst

Post back here with your findings. Also, can you tell us about your current system : what anti-virus software are you using. I'm a bit concerned about this Registry Booster : generally speaking, in most cases you really do not need/want to be mucking with the registry at all.

Regards,
Golden

Hello All - I ran into an issue where Outlook 2010 (Calendar) does not show certain options for a Calendar Event. Meeting that has been received and accepted, when opened does not have option of "Respond" and once that button is clicked drop down menu should display "Reply, Reply All... Reply with IM, etc."

Here is the screen-shot of it and how it is supposed to look like.. just not seeing it on my computer:
Note: I did notice when someone schedules an appointment in Calendar this option is not available; but other meeting invites co-worker of mine does have and I don't. Complete the same environment, same machines, same OS image (W7 64-bit Enterprise - company computers). Also, company IT is looking into this and so far they have not been able to find the culprit of this issue.

Thanks all!

Answer:MS Outlook 2010 / Calendar event missing "Respond" (Reply All, etc.)

Hi CarDusan,

Means you are missing the section (Change Response) through which a user can accept or decline events or Outlook appointments.

This issue arises when the following data file exists in the Windows Registry (with the values):

Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar

DWORD: DisableResponseButtons
Value: 1

Use the given "Fix it for me" solution provided by Microsoft.
Manager is unable to respond to a meeting invite

Thanks

I have recently created an additional email address in Outlook 2010 and since then have been intermittently getting a pop-up window as soon as I start Outlook 2010 which prevents me doing anything and places a red X on the email icon in the bottom task bar.

The pop-up window says "Your IMAP server closed the connection" and gives me "OK" and "Details" tabs.

If I click OK it gives me the "No - you can't do that" tone. If I click Details I get;

Account: (email address)

Internal login failure. Refer to server log for more information.
Protocol: IMAP
Server: mail.aanet.com.au
Port: 143
Error Code: 0x800CCCDD

I then can't do anything to exit from the pop-up window or Outlook 2010 except to use Task Manager to stop OUTLOOK.EXE*32.

Any ideas on how I can prevent this from occurring?

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and have only basic computer skills.

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2010 - "Your IMAP server closed the connection"

Update.

Turned out to be a network problem.

All fixed.

Greetings,

Recently we have migrated an entire overseas division over from a very old computer system to brand new VDI/VMware-based system. This, of course, includes importing PSTs (POP3) into their Exchange mailboxes.

What we're trying to do is find out if there are any missing e-mails ... by sorting by Received Date and scrolling down. Thing is, most of the users have dozens of folders. It would be impossible for us to find if they're missing e-mails like this unless we could get a view that would show all e-mail messages from all folders.

I did try the Advanced Search with blank fields and selecting the mailbox + checking to search subfolders as well, but it concatenates the total number of results to some several dozen results, so this is no good.

Any ideas?

When I flag an item (i.e. email) for follow-up, it shows up twice in my to do list. I've figured out that this is because I have two .pst files in Outlook (outlook.pst and archive.pst). When I remove the archive.pst from the profile, only one flagged item shows.

I suspect this is the result of an Outlook auto-archive setting, but I'm not sure. If anyone knows, I'd be interested to know how to avoid this going forward?

Also, is there any way I can keep archive.pst as part of my Outlook profile and not have duplicate flagged items show up in my to do list, or do I need at this point to just take it off the profile and open it when I need to look up old items?

Hi Guys
Having installed an SSD and cloned Windows 7 + Apps to it, I've come up against a couple of problems using Outlook 2010 and I'd be grateful for any help please. The pst file is on another HDD that was not involved in the upgrade.

1) Search function no longer works. either says not found immediately or carries on searching for ever. Clue may be in Indexing? Click on Indexing Status and get "Outlook is currently indexing you items. 2129 items to index" Problem is, this number is increasing, not decreasing! Started around 1600. Should PC be left on and Outlook open, and just be patient, or is something awry?

2)Since SSD installed, all emails with images have lost them. Applies to ones I already have and new ones when opened first time. Red Cross and message in each image frame "Linked Image cannot be displayed. The file may have been moved, renamed or deleted. Verify that the link points to the correct file and location".

Firefox is browser.

If I forward an email that is not showing embedded pictures to another PC the images are present again.
Presumably the images are stored somewhere and the link has been broken by the upgrade?

I've tried a few things suggested on MS forums without luck. Settings in Outlook seem correct.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Answer:Linked images "lost" in Outlook 2010 after SSD installation

Further to above post, have also noticed that when doing a search Programmes and Files from Start button, the only items found are those within Windows, nothing from my data files which are on a separate RAID 1 pair of discs.

Now wondering whether to set old HDD (that still has Windows on it) back as boot drive, check that everything is as it should be booting from that drive, then wipe the SSD and clone again? I used Easius ToDo clone tool so will use another programme next time. Any suggestions on which to use?

Is this the best way forward?

Thanks for any comments.

Hello All,

I have my GoDaddy email account setup as an IMAP using Outlook 2010. Intermittently when I receive emails, they will go straight to the 'Outlook Data File' and completely erase them from any of my other email clients. I will even be literally reading an email on my iPhone and before I can finish the email disappears to my office computer if outlook is running. Any way to fix this?

Thank you!

Hello,

I accidentally drag-and-dropped an important folder from the Navigation Pane to the center section of Outlook where I was viewing the list of emails in my Inbox. It did not ask me if I wanted to delete the folder or give any errors - it was just gone when I released the mouse.

Any ideas on how to get the folder back would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

We have a rather busy client netbook running windows 7 with MS Office 2010, the main app being Outlook 2010. very busy mailbox/database with lots of messages in store. worked ok until around end of Feb when it went wobbly.

the surface symptom is simple: it hangs busy while trying to load the profile. displays the "Loading" signal but cannot complete. so the app is unresponsive and is killed via task manager [wash/rinse/repeeeet]. tried to find 'scanpst.exe' but it is not on the system, just as it is not on my own daily driver [ms office pro 2007] despite Microsoft's disinformation. so next we tried msconfig>diagnostic, and on reboot tried "outlook.exe /safe" to no avail. same issue - goes to load the profile and hangs unable to complete the operation.

since this is Outlook 2010 [not previous] a lot of old fixes I have found are invalid.

what should we do?
thx
z

Answer:Outlook 2010 hangs "Loading". Stuck on Stoopid

Hi, zapp,

I can't help you fix Outlook, but maybe I can help find scanpst.exe.

It's often hidden, but if you type scanpst into the Run box it should run even if it's hidden, as long as it's in the search path. If the file is intended to be run from a command line, first type CMD into the Run box to get a Command box and then type scanpst into the command box.

To do a search for it on the hard drive, assuming that it's a hidden file, you'll either have to set Explorer to show hidden and system files, or do an advanced search to include hidden files and folders.

If the file really isn't on your hard drive, I think there are places on the 'net you can download it from.

Hope this helps some. That's about all I can help you with. If I'm telling you things you already know, I apologize.

Good luck!

so i noticed a weird problem on a clean vista 64 sp1 install. I was in picasa, selected some photos and then hit "email" but outlook 2007 never popped up. i thought it was just a weird picasa problem so i kinda ignored it.

then i just tried right clicking on a small file, choosing send to, mail recipient and the same thing happened with outlook 2007 not opening. it should have opened a new message with the attachment.

I used vlite to tweak and edit down some services and now i think i inadvertently got rid of a service that is required by the send to or something. I really was very conservative with what i tweaked out so i have no idea what it could be.

anybody have any ideas??

REALLY DO NOT WANT TO REINSTALL VISTA.......

thanks!

Answer:Vista 64 "Send To" won't open outlook

Re-enable any/all services you might have disabled.

Really best practice with Vista is to leave her alone and let her do her thing. Especially with a system of your specs, the upside of "tweaking" is very minimal...

Maybe try re-installing office?

Problem: When in “My Pictures” folder, highlighting any image file (such as a .jpg file) and then clicking “E-Mail This File” in the “File and Folder Tasks” pane always pulls up Outlook Express even though Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is set as the default email client.

From what I gather, this seems to be a fault with Sendmail.dll program or it’s settings in Windows. This is registered to open Outlook Express only and not Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. I believe it is possible to repair this, but such resolution evades me.

The work-around is to right-click the file and click on “Send To” Microsoft Outlook. This way we cancontinue to email images and documents with little or no inconvenience. In the meantime, I will post this on a few forums for a possible resolution. This is the case for several of our computers. I've looked for about four hours on how to repair this, and haven't found an aswer that works.

Thus far, we have made the three major settings that also affect the way Windows XP is set to handle Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 as the default client and these are set correctly on Judy’s Computer:

In Internet Explorer:

Tools, Internet Options, Programs, e-mail:

1.. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Other.
2.. Under General, select the Make Outlook the default program for E-mail,
Contacts, and Calendar check

In Outlook 2007:

Tools, Options, Other --> Check the box "Make Outlook (2007)the default program for E-mail, Co... Read more

Hi

We are moving from Windows XP / Office 2003 to Windows 7 / Office 2010
Huge change and of course people try everything that is possible...and impossible, things that you wouldn't of think of doiing.

But yes it seem you can actualy take files, in that case PDF files on your desktop and drag and drop them into an Outlook folder directly.

It doesn't show as an MSG file, it realy show's itself in Outlook as a PDF and you can double click it to open it.

It probably has the same system as Windows Explorer does

We have Symantec Enterprise Vault to Archive emails witch will automaticly do so after a predetermined period of time
We can archive the PDF file and it will result by creating a blank email from yourself with a PDF attached to it

So it does seem to work, i don't see any bugs or error or problem soo far.
But that is "so far"
I can't find anywhere on the internet a post or something that tells you "yes you can do that with Outlook 2010"

Anyone has an opinion on that matter understanding that everyone has differents ways of working...

Thank you

hi !

some office 2010 problems: when i try to view "Outlook Today" i get an error message:
"cannot display the folder. out of memory or system resources".

right-clicking on outlook today → data-file properties → home page,
the problem seems to bee that it changes from the default outlook.htm to outlook3.ht

res://E:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\1033\OUTLWVW.DLL/outlook3.ht

clicking on "Restore defaults" fixes it.

but the next time i start Outlook, or sometimes even if i just take a look at some inbox-folders and then go back to outlook today,
then it?s the same problem all over again.

i have used 2010 for a while, and never seen those problems before,
it all started a few days ago after i changed some other settings, only problem is that i can?t remember exactly what i did.

one weird thing is that the problems only seems to be with my user-account, if i use my admin-account everything works ok.

i have uninstalled 2010, used ccleaner to fix the registry, manually removed all office-related files from the users-folders,
then reinstalled 2010.

the problems are still there.

any ideas ?

I know I've posted recently on this, and I'm grateful for all the help and advice I've been given. But - - I'm absolutely stumped - frustrated and baffled. Each time I click on a link in an email in Outlook 2010 the message appears: "General Failure: The URL was (details given). The specified procedure could not be found."
I've followed all the advice offered, and I even had a MS certified "expert" look at my computer yesterday, but to no avail. The problem persists - which means that my email facilities are useless.
My plea is that hopefully someone has encountered this issue, (which as far as I can gather seems not all that uncommon), and who can provide me with the fix.
I'm at a total loss!

Been running 2010 for about 11 months now on a hosted Exchange Server, no problems at all until this past Sunday.

Almost all of the roughly 125 emails in my inbox list the sender as me instead of the actual sender. When a new message comes in, the taskbar notification popup displays the correct sender's name but in the actual inbox my name is displayed under "From"

When I open any of the messages the correct sender's name and email address are displayed.

This is a head scratcher for sure and confusing when trying to scroll through looking for someone's message or reply. Anyone else run into this/know the solution?

Thanks.

P.S. Running a Dell Studio 15 less than a year old, fast processor, 8GB RAM, etc., etc. No other computer problems at all, just this quirky email problem.

I am changing from Outlook Express to Outlook 2010. I had things set up in OE so that when I added names to the people I was sending email to, it showed the name rather then the email address. I downloaded some 2000 contacts to Outlook 2010, and when I send an email, it shows the email address rather then the name. Is there a way to change this so that it shows just the names? I really do not want to go through 2000 names and change each one individually.

I am running Outlook 2010 32bit with Windows 7 Pro 64bit. After installing google outlook sync (and subsequently uninstalling) an annoying popup window continues to appear when I start outlook. It asks me to Choose Profile. I have only one profile named "outlook". When you click "options" you can check a box that says "check as default profile" This does not make the annoying popup go away. It still pops up the next time you start outlook. After searching the web for a fix I found one promising work around. Access control panel then select "mail" here you go in to outlook profiles and check make outlook the default profile. The problem is this doesn't work with Windows 7 64bit and Outlook 32bit. In the control panel "mail" is grayed out and when you click on it nothing happens. Does anyone know how you can access Outlook profiles with this set-up?
Thanks in advance.
Oh and there is a very long thread in Google forums with many fixes, all of which I have tried, none of which have worked. it is obviously a problem caused by google outlook sync but google has remained silent.

Want to set some accounts to check for new mail every ten minutes, others every 30 minutes, others not at all (only manually). Can't see how to do this. Even TBird can do that. What am I missing?

Answer:How to set "check mail" times for Outlook 2010

It is quite easy, in fact. In Outlook you do this using so called Send / Receive Groups. A group can include just one or multiple mail accounts.

You can define Send / Receive Groups as you wish by following these simple steps:
On ribbon, select Send / Receive > Send / Receive Groups > Define Send / Receive Groups:
.

.
Click New to create a new Send / Receive Group:
.

.
Give the group a name, click OK:
.

.
Select account you want to include in this group on the left pane, select Include the selected account in this group. Do this for each account you want to add in this group, finish by clicking OK:
.

.
Set the online and offline send / receive values for each group:
.

.
Save settings by clicking Close button
That's it.

Notice that you can also send / receive each group manually:

I've just upgraded to Outlook 2010, and now I find that links in emails I send and receive are not "hot." I aways message in Plain Text format because much of my emailing is done on Plain-Text-only mailing lists. Switching to HTML format is not an option.

Win7 Ultimate (64)

Answer:Outlook 2010 hyperlinks in email "cold"

This is how it works in Outlook 2007 - hope it is valid for Outlook 2010 also.
Click "New" to start a new email message
Click the Office Orb (top left)
Click on "Editor Options" (bottom right)
Click "Proofing"
Click "AutoCorrect Options..."
Under "Replace", ensure that "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks" is checked
When you type a link into your plain text email, make sure you hit Space or Enter after the link to force it to go hot
However, in my experience, links in plain text emails do have a habit of sometimes going cold again when the message is sent, and I haven't found a fix for that - I assume it is something to do with the recipient's setup.

Anyway, hope this helps

I just installed Outlook 2010 on my new Samsung laptop running Windows 7 a few days ago (an upgrade from Outlook 2002 that I was previously using on my old computer running XP). My husband & I have 4 different email accounts, so I started configuring all of them on the new version & it all seemed to be working fine. Last night my husband moved our saved emails, etc., from our old computer to the new one. At first everything went smooth. All the stuff we still had on the old pc showed up in all the right places in our new inboxes. Once he was finished, we tested send/receive several times & it was all working fine. That is, until this morning...

After powering up the laptop & starting Outlook, I've discovered that all email accounts work EXCEPT our main account. This is the error message I keep getting:

Sending' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'
Receiving' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'

Hi,

I am using Windows Vista.
Office 2010 purchased.
I can not recall my emails. The message I'm getting is "The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found".

Hosting Exchange and I checked with the hosting co. who says they support the functionality. Quote: This function is a default feature from Microsoft. All features that Microsoft has enabled by default are enabled by us, the default settings aren't changed
by us."

How to fix it?

Thank you in advance for any information :)

Hi all, new to SevenForums as of today.

First of all, I am speaking of my Outlook Inbox, not messages. My Inbox currently has columns for "From", "Subject", "Received" and "Size."

My question is: Can I have a "To" column show in my Inbox? Yes, all emails I receive are to me, but I hate having to comb through hundreds of emails to see to whom else an email was sent, in addition to myself.

Maybe it's a weird idea and isn't possible . . . just thought I'd ask.

Thanks in advance,

I had MS Office pro 2010 " Trial " version some time ago. It expired. Did not buy the full version.
The following is merely what I can remember. The step-by-step may be a little off.

Open Outlook 2010 > click Inbox folder > View tab > Current View > View Settings > Columns > left column, under Available Columns heading, scroll down to find To > if you find it, click it > click ADD which is at the middle > right column, use the Move Up button to place the To option anywhere you want > click OK when done.

I hope my memory still serves me.

this is a bit of a critical issue - big Outlook 2010 client running on a netbook, big data store/s. I figured someday it would be an issue and we're there.
basically I can't get the patient to lie still - when we open, it hangs "loading" - presumably jjust loading the main profile.
Need some tips.

should I run scanpst.exe? if so, ... i've noticed that scanpst isn't always installed... its not on my own Office 2007 pro. ms adamantly claims I'm defective but it just ain't on the drive.

I plan to try to get it to run in safe mode, but then what?

Answer:Outlook 2010 hangs "Loading" - pls help

confirmed. no "scanpst.exe" is on the HD...office 2010, just like Office 2007

So I've upgraded to Windows 10 successfully and everything seems to be working properly (except Cortana, but that's deliberate.) One annoyance I'm experiencing is that while the various built-in Modern/Metro apps have a "Share" button, Outlook 2010 is not recognized as a valid option to share with. Anyone know how to force Windows 10 to use Outlook 2010 for sharing links?

In one office decided to reinstall Windows 7, became ill after working virus.
As expected, copied documents from the desktop to the disk D, format screw and reinstall Windows and a bunch of programm.
Then came the user of this computer and was horrified to find that it has no data in Outlook 2010, and he had already warned that it has a post office.
In general, the file Outlook.pst stayed somewhere on disk C, has already lost.
D drive someone 2 years ago made a backup copy of this file - there is 5GB.
But it is very necessary for the letters of 2012 and 2013.
How can I restore the whole thing? In general, is it possible?

Answer:"How to recover data, Outlook 2010?"

You might be able to try one of the data recovery programs that are out there. But that is not a guarantee that it will work to recover those letters. This is why you and any computer user essentially should have a backup device of some sort to fully backup your drive(s) at all times; even if you manually make a backup you should still use a backup device. Im not totally familiar with the the data recovery programs that are out there that actually work; so you may have to google search and see what comes up.

I have removed the Windows 10 "Libraries" from the navigation pane in Windows Explorer and other Microsoft programs (eg. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

My computer either freezes or slows to a crawl when I hit the "my computer" icon, or try to use the "send to:" option under files or when I try to save a file in a different folder other than the one currently displayed in the "save in" feature. Major geeks cured this problem for me in 2004, but I did not save the solution and cannot remember it now. Please help...again!

I use xp pro sp2; intel pentium 4a; 2.66ghz hd (1% left); 512ram

Thanks

Answer:"My Computer", "send to:", "save in:" Functions slow or freeze computer

Go to the "Search" funtion (along the top in the same row as User CP, FAQ, Members list etc)...click on advanced search...type your name in the "search by user name" then click search now at the bottom..this will bring up your posts...

I seem to have a problem sending attachments through Microsoft Excel 97 or Word 97. I can send the file fine if I go through Outlook 97 and select it as an attachment, but when I try to send the files directly from the Word or Excel program, they come through as a huge jumbled mess.

It seems like there was an option that went something like "break apart messages..." Man, I can't find it anywhere. Am I crazy? I thought that may be the problem, but if I can't find it, I can't check it.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

I have a Sony Vaio Notebook running a Windows XP (Pro) operating system.
The Notebook cotains 2 drives. A "C" drive and a "D" drive.
I would like to add the "D" drive letter to the drop down menu of the "Send To" button.
Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you very much.

Answer:add a "drive letter" to the "send to" drop down list

Place a shortcut to the drive (or folder) you want to be the target in c:\Documents and Settings\"Your User Name"\SendTo folder. That is the directory from which the Send To menu is loaded. I'm looking at a win2000 system and the XP location may be slightly different but it's somewhere in there. If you put the shortcut in the "Default User" folder then whenever you create a new user, that user will have the same option.

In IE9, the " Send page by e-mail " and the " Send link by e-mail " are grayed out.

hi all.

I have MS Office '07 and in Outlook, I can't seem to be able to send a new e-mail with my address. There's nowhere to select from which user is sending the e-mail.

Answer:how to add "send from" in Outlook

If you are referring to having multiple accounts setup in Outlook and you want to choose between them, then look for the small button that says "Account" under the Send button. You can click it to switch between accounts when sending email.

Good luck.

Hi all,
I recently created a new user account on a win 7 home premium machine before I'd had much experience with win 7 (but years with 2000 and xp).
Instead of users\Roger\ it created users\user which I now realise is not correct. (I didn't call my account "user", either, before you ask. )
Can I fix this without deleting the profile and starting again, as I've done hours of work since that little stuff up.
Thanks in advance,
Roger.

The two main malware items I think I have. I've already assumed I will do a total C: delete and re-install. I've tried lots of things in safemode, etc. with Spybot, Malwarebytes, a Norten scanner, etc. either directly running or downloading/renaming, or by downloading on another computer and using memory stick to transfer. Nothing stays launched, runs nor completes.

What a pain in the butt. I use AVG and whatever it did jumped right through in no time.......I've read lots of posts in cnet, pctools, a few here, etc.

What a mess.

Some people have way to much free time......maybe they ought to get a job somehow using these skills...they'd make a mint.

Outlook 2003:I'm a massive fan of outlooks Search folders, I receive in excess of 400 emails per day, of which approximately 250 need my attention, even if to reply back and give someone an answer.

A problem I find is that I am so busy with my emails, I often need to clean out my inbox. I do this by setting up basic search folders such as "all emails from my team which are in my inbox only" or "any email sent to me which was part of a distribution list in my inbox only" etc...

This is great for filtering my mail and I would like to create a rule as such:

"All mail within my inbox which has been either replied to forwarded by myself".

I can't seem to find any options and I'm hoping an Outlook guru can help

If you don't know the answer, can you try googling it for me to see if you can find anything, loads of heads are better one...

Thanks in advance

In Windows XP, fully updated, I have several folders full of mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

But all the figures in the "Duration" column appear to be in "hours" and "minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03", but what I want is "minutes" and "seconds".

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm using Outlook 2003. I'm designing a new Contacts screen, which better suits the needs of my business.

I have been able to figure out how to everything except for this:

How to I design the "date" and "dollar amount" field values to default to blank/empty instead of defaulting to the word "None" in the case of the "date" field and "$0.00" in the case of the "dollar amount" field?

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully updated, on an Acer lap top PC.

I have several folders full of .mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. To do this I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

The two new columns appear, but the format of the "Duration" column appears to be "hours:minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03" for most .mp3's, when what I want to see is 'hours:minutes:seconds", e.g. "00:03:45".

This also happens for video files (.avi files), e.g. all my episodes of "Heroes" (sad, I know) have a duration of "00:42" instead of "00:42:xx".

Here are two pictures showing the problem with the .mp3's. The first is of Explorer showing the Duration as "Hours:Minutes":

The second picture is of the properties window of the first .mp3 in the list above:

I copied some .mp3 files to another (old) PC on my home network, and it displayed the duration field correctly:

Also, the properties window correctly shows the duration also:

I'm not the only person to have this problem. I received a private message from a member of another forum where I posted about this problem several weeks ago. That person also has the same problem with the duration field.

The tech guys on that forum were unable to find the source... Read more
