Outook 2007: Cannot delete e-mail / Crashes when you try to open

Question: Outook 2007: Cannot delete e-mail / Crashes when you try to open

Hello, I was hoping someone could help me with an Outlook 2007 issue a user has been having. Last week, our exchange server was flooded by a lot of e-mails, causing our users messages they tried to send out to fail and given a Outlook delivery delayed message for each. The issue was solved but I have one user who still has a delivery delayed mail in this inbox and upon trying to open it, Outlook crashes and if you try to deleted it, you get the message:

"One or more items in the folder you synchronized do not match. To resolve the conflicts, open the items, and they try this operation again."

I was thinking this notification was in sync with the e-mail that was delayed, so I did a search and couldn't not find anything related to it. Any ideas on who to get rid of this troublesome message?

Preferred Solution: Outook 2007: Cannot delete e-mail / Crashes when you try to open

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings,

We setup an IMAP account for someone on their company-assigned laptop. When they delete something, it crosses out the entire row in their list of messages for that particular message ... instead of removing the message. How to fix?

Answer:Outlook 2007, IMAP - Delete crosses out e-mail message instead of delete

With IMAP, a delete action means to add the \Deleted flag to the message. Clients show messages marked as \Deleted in different ways. In Outlook and Outlook Express, they're crossed out. Same for Thunderbird. In Opera's built-in mail client, they're hidden from view and shown in "All Messages/Trash".

Then, when you want to get rid of a message that's marked as \Deleted, you expunge it to totally wipe it from the server and the client. It's often called "purge" in MS products. In Opera, it's deleting a message in "All Messages/Trash" or emptying "All Messages/Trash". Also, by default in Thunderbird, IMAP move operations leave behind the original copy that gets marked as \Deleted. You have to compact the folder (or all folders) to issue a generic expunge command on the folder to wipe out all \Deleted messages in the folder.

So, Outlook sounds like it's working as expected for IMAP.

However, many IMAP clients allow you to set an IMAP trash folder. When you set one, the delete action changes from marking a message as \Deleted to moving (Copy to, mark original as \Deleted and UID expunge the original) the message to the IMAP trash folder.

I don't use Outlook or know anything about it. But, it sounds like you need to set an IMAP trash folder somehow and or configure the delete action. Then, delete will work how you expect. Just don't know if Outlook supports setting an IMAP trash folder.

I've just ordered Outlook Office 2007 which has Outlook 2007 included. However I've just thought - I have activesync 3.8 which works perfectly with my PDA (HP2210) at the moment. Will installing Outlook 2007 cause any problems?

Answer:Outook 2007 + Activesync 3.8

I do not know if you will have problems but in any event it would probably be better to bring Active Sync up to date - it is v4.5 now.

I was a former Outlook 2002 or similar early version Outlook user and I upgraded to Outlook 2007 which assummed the earlier settings.

No email messages are now downloaded directly to the inbox in Outlook 2007!

Instead if I click on the Tab, Search Folders (below the Tab, Inbox) and then immediately return to the Inbox Tab, the downloaded messages will appear in the Inbox Tab.

This is entirely frustrating since I tend to view emia messages multiple times during the day.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

i have a csv file with my contacts from old outlook. how can i import all the contacts in one go into outlook 2007? i know how to do individually but have a lot of contacts
thanks for any help

Answer:import multiple contacts into outook 2007 from csv

Read this. Although for Excel it should work for any csv file. Map custom fields is fairly important.
It would have been easier to have created a pst file of your old contacts (export as pst) and then imported that.

Hi. Out-of-the blue, I can't delete messages in my Microsoft Outlook 2000 inbox. If I click on delete, I get "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists retsart Outlook". I am running Windows XP and have tried a System Restore and have also repaired Office 2000 using the original Office CD-ROMS without success. I'm starting to think it may be virus-related. Any ideas or feedback would be appreciated.

Hello all, I've been using "Windows Live Mail" now for about three months on a Win7 HP. No problems at all -
until yesterday when cleaning out my Inbox, all of a sudden, while trying to delete messages, I received an error "An Unknown Error Has Occurred" and I cannot delete the message. every once in a while, a second pop up box appears titled "Windows Live Mail" and it states it's deleting mail, however it just keeps running without doing anything, until I shut it down. I have also begun to have problems opening mail as well!

Re starting the mail program and re booting the pc has not helped the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:Windows Live Mail won't open or delete mail

Hello Bret,

What antivirus program do you have installed?

If it includes a email filter, then test by either temporarily disabling the email filter option or the entire antivirus program to see if that may be the cause. Sometimes certain brands or features of antivirus program will interfere with email programs.

Hi all. Irritating & timewasting beyond belief - even for Microsoft - is a hidden shortcut in either Outlook 2007, Office 2007 or perhaps in Windows 7. Centred apparently on the "T" key, a combination of keystrokes reduces the display size of text I type. At enormous waste of time, each occurrence can be remedied, via the View tab in Outlook 2007, then the "zoom" facility. But how do I a) locate the set up instructions for this shortcut, and b) alter or reload them?

I'm a reasonably sensitive typist: this glitch is wasting sooo much of my time. Am in the dire straights of using new Windows 7, with new Office 2007 apps, on a new laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1545.

Advice on shortcut set-up in Outlook 2007, and or in Windows 7 will be much appreciated. Thanks

Answer:Outook 2007 or Windows 7 keyboard shortcut, reducing size of display text.

I have two separate computers where I am having the same issue with Windows Live email. About one out of every four times I delete an email, Windows Live Mail crashes and restarts. This happens sporadically when I have an email open and try to delete it by clicking the red X delete button. Seems like a software glitch since the exact same thing is happening on two separate computers (laptop and desktop with Windows Live Mail 2011 and 2012).

I have performed the repair several times with no success. Any ideas?

Was using Outlook closed it and then reopened it, now have Cannot opern your e-mail folders. "Errors have been detected in the file C:\Users\Name|App\Data\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Quit Outlook and all mail enabled applications. and then use Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file."
I can't find this tool googled it and looked for it like it was suggested but I am still not able to find this tool let alone run it. Can someone advise a work around please.

Answer:Outlook 2007 Cannot open Default e-mail folders

The Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) should be located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 (this last number could be different, depending on your Locale), or in :\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12

To run it, see the instructions at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/o...tlook-data-files-pst-and-ost-HA010075831.aspx

Can I add OPENED PHOTOS into the Body of an E-mail message which I want to send in Microsoft Outlook 2007. (Not Outlook Express) That is the program I am required to use in the hosted exchange server in which I am enrolled.

That is, I do not want to send Attachments, but rather, want to have the photos already opened when the recipient receives the message.

Answer:Can I add OPEN PHOTOS within OUTLOOK 2007 E-MAIL MESSAGE PAGE?

-- That is possible

-- Open the picture/Photo that you want to send it. Take a screenshot of the photo

To take screenshot:

-- On top right corner of the keyboard, you can see print screen(prt scr) button, normally next to F12 button. Press this button once this will make copy of your current screen contents

-- Open paint program, press CTRL+V to paste the copied content using Print screen button

-- Now click select tool and select the portion of the photo that you want to send.

-- Press CTRL + C to copy the selection.

-- Press CTRL + V in body of the outlook Email.

You are doneeeee...

Easy way to take screen shot without quality damage is using ScreenHunter that I mostly use. Below have pasted the link from where you can get free copy and install it. Need to press F6 to capture the screen.

But I can't seem to delete it or open it anymore (it says: "Outlook is already sending the message". But it's not). I've waited more than a day and I saw more than 1 Gb was sended (!!). So something is sending, but not this e-mail!

I run windows XP. What can I do? I already tried to re-install Office, but the problem still occurs. I want to get rid of the mail!! It's blocking everything!

Hello,

I have been running a new PC, ASUS Z97-WS, for about four months. Over 80% of my application crashes are related to Microsoft products. I am running WIN7 Ultimate x64, using Office 2007. Word crashes daily reporting ?? software exception (0xe00000002) ?? I have run hardware tests, including Word diagnostics without finding errors. I also run Viso Professional 2007, which attempts to reinstall itself every time I start the program. I can cancel the install or lets it proceed. Once started Viso works correctly. Word is my biggest headache as it tends to fail just when you are saving a file for the first time. If it recovers it normally looses the data entered, it sometimes shows repairs related to image objects but is vague on details.

I have all the latest Microsoft updates, BIOS updates, print drivers, and have disabled all Word add-ons and have replaced normal.doc.

What would you recommend I try to resolve these concerns? Thanks.
PS The programs worked better when I installed them on a previous PC about 6 years ago.

Answer:Can't delete Hotmail or Yahoo mail and can't open Hotmail

Hi
Lots of people have problems with Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. The most common causes seem to be cookie rejection, incorrect firewall settings, and/or an overly aggressive and intrusive firewall like ZoneAlarm that does a lot of things without asking.

Are you able to access the email accounts from a computer at another location? (other house, library, etc.)

Did you recently change any settings in a program or install a new program or a new version of or update for one, especially some security program (firewall, antivirus, etc.)?

Do you have a router?

Is your trash folder overfull?

Hi,

I'm having trouble running a mail merge with word 2007 and using an excel 2007 file as the data source. I've used this same word and excel file to run this mail merge 3 times a week for the last 12 mths.

Recently I had a spyware infection and had someone at spywareinfoforum sort it out for me. Ever since I've had this problem.

Ok, when I open my prepared word document that I want to use for the merge I get the following message:

"Opening this document will run the following SQL command"

I never used to get this come up. When I select "yes" I get the following error:

"Error has occured: Catastrophic failure:"

When I select "no" the document opens which is ok.

However, if I go to mailings--->start mailmerge--->step by step mail merge wizzard. This is ok but when it comes time to select the datasource I get the problem.

I select "Use existing list" ----> "browse" then navigate to the excel file I want to merge. When I click on the excel file it appears to not recognise the document type. By this I mean that when I click on the excel file nothing displays in the "File Name" box. This happens even if I change the "Files of Type" box to all files.

Answer:Export mail and contacts from Outlook 2007 to Windows live mail 2012?

Don I might be way off track here mate but was the Outlook account the same email address as you have set up in WLM?

Just a thought you might try adding an account to WLM using the old address and password. I did this with my old account from my service provider then went to a Hotmail account.
Now admittedly it was still within WLM but worth a try.

What I will do is try and add my work account (Outlook) to my WLM and see if it works.

PS It added the account but I have to get the POP and STMP settings right first.

I would like to use Word 2007 Mail Merge to compose and send email messages. My email client is Windows Live Mail. I do not have Outlook. I do not need to access my WLM Contacts list. The email addresses I want to send messages to are in a column of the Word table that I am using as the Mail Merge data source. I have gone through all of the steps of a Mail Merge, including writing the email message, inserting data fields into it, and selecting recipients. The last step is to finish, merge, and send messages. I click on that step and nothing happens - no error message appears but no messages are sent. Any advice? It's possible this can't be done, but I am hoping it can.

whenever i open ms office outlook 2007 and try to download received emails, an error message will pop up saying path to naCmnLib71.dll is not found and outlook has to close
after some searching on the internet it seems this file is used by mcafee virusscan to scan incoming emails
after disabling the email scanner everything worked fine
so i can conclude that the email scanner is indeed the problem
i also updated mcafee virusscan to the lastest version but it does not seem to solve the problem
is there anyone with the same problem and has solved the problem?
can you provide me with the solution?
thank you

Answer:Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 error when McAfee VirusScan performs e-mail scanner during downloading of incoming e-mail

Well, if something is making the email scan not work, to be honest I personally would do a AV and AS scan, and maybe even a boot scan... Just to make sure there is nothing else causing the problem.

Answer:How Do I find and Delete unsent mail in live mail 2011 outbox

Open the Outbox and delete. Outbox is common for all accounts and can be reached by scrolling the left pane as it is at the very bottom.

I can't get rid of gmail from outlook-I've gone thru the steps posted on line but cannot scroll down to the delete 'button' on the rectangular box that appears when you go thru all the steps because the delete box/activator appears below the screen--i'm

I've been comparing Windows Live Mail and Thunderbird for several months now. Thunderbird provides a junk mail setting whereby it deletes everything in the junk folder after X days (you set the X). I can't find any option in WLM that does that. Is there one, and if so, where is it?

Answer:Solved: Set Live Mail to delete junk mail after X days

there isn't one in WLM or in outlook
you do it manually for safety reasons, in case a genuine email gets redirected to junk

Every time I try to send or reply to mail Windows Live mail crashes. If the mail has a picture and I open the picture with Windows Photo Gallery - photo gallery crashes then Live mail crashes as well.

Faulting application wlmail.exe, version 15.4.3555.308, time stamp 0x4f59707e, faulting module MSMAIL.DLL, version 15.4.3555.308, time stamp 0x4f59709e, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000ae425, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10.

I searched Microsoft and there is not answer for this.
Please help.

Answer:Windows Live Mail crashes when sending mail

The only answer I ever found for this type of error was to uninstall Live Mail and reinstall it - which is why I paid for Forte Agent (which is basically text-only send, although it can read HTML email)

Hi,

Got a problem with Word and Excel 2007.

Both programs open ok (under 2 seconds), so no problems there.

The problem is opening the program by means of opening a document. It takes about 1 minute

Exactly the same thing with both Word and Excel.

Has anyone got a solution? Surely there must be a quick little registry tweak to sort this out?

Other info:
Outlook 2007 works ok, no delays
Windows XP works ok
No speed issues with computer
Did not previously have Office 2003
Word/Excel documents are local, computer is not on a network
Computer is free from spyware and viruses

Never encountered this before. Have a friend who works for Northern Trust (financial company). Sent me a couple of e-mails from his NT e-mail address -- which he has done before and I have never had any problems with them. But for these last two e-mails, if I try to reply to or forward either of them, it crashes Windows Live Mail (WLM). I have NEVER seen this happen with WLM before and I've been using it for almost 3 years.

To confirm that it was WLM, not NT's problem, I installed Thunderbird, imported my Inbox from WLM, then tried to reply to one of the messages from Thunderbird. Works fine.

Has anyone who uses WLM or knows someone using WLM that has also run into this problem, and if so, did you/they find out what was causing it?

Hello, I'm trying to help someone who is on Windows 8.. Myself, I use Windows 7 so I am not as familiar with Windows 8, so I was wondering if someone could help us out.

She likes to use the Windows 8 Start Screen that has all the tiles on it. Normally, she clicks on the "Mail" icon to get to her email, but now when she clicks on the icon it doesn't go to her email and instead it goes straight to her desktop. I tried clicking another icon; the "weather" one, and it too goes to the desktop. She told me she downloaded a couple games from iWin a few days ago and I noticed a new toolbar in her browser so I tried disabling that, but no change. I've checked what the default browser is, Internet Explorer (what she normally uses). I also tried making Chrome the default browser but still no change.

Anybody have an idea what it may be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi All,
I'm trying to email to around 320 recipients out of my MS Access program. I've created a good email list, with proper field names that "match" Publisher. The list "loads" into Publisher, and when I send/merge, the screen had me believing that the mail was being sent. Didn't happen, though. The only "clue" I have as to why, is that (contrary to other times when I've used Publisher/Access merge) I couldn't get to see "recipient previews." Tried starting over several times; same results. Any ideas? I love working with Publisher/Access for personalized emails that don't show the others on the recipient list; hope someone can help me find the answer to this problem. Thanks.

Hello,

When I try to open a 2007 Word or Excel document I recieve as an attachment in Outlook 2003, I get the following message:
"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed". Office 2007 compatibility pack was installed and it still did not work.

I then uninstalled Office 2003, uninstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack and then I ran CCleaner to clean up the registry. I updated my OS (currently has Windows XP SP3) with all updates, reinstalled Office 2003, installed Office 2003 SP 3 and then reinstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack.

I still get the same message when I try to open an Office 2007 attachment in Outlook 2003.

OS is Windows XP SP3 fully updated
Office 2003 SP 3 fully updated

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any hel on this issue.

Hi

I always keep a backup of my Outlook .pst file just n case I need it...

Just doing a back up and notice that the files do not have any association linked... I am sure it used to show the Outlook icon but can't be sure... can anyone confirm this.. I did try to link to Outlook but is failed...

This is what I mean...

This is what I get when I try to associate it to Outlook... Which seems odd... unless it is because Outlook is open?

Answer:Outook Office 365 .pst

Mine have the Outlook association, I'm using the Office 2016 package rather than the Office 365 but should be same.

I would advise you use the installer (uninstaller - Change), to do a repair rather than manually setting the association as the Office associations are not standard

Question: outook calendar

Bought a new laptop, took my Office 2000 Professional to be installed, instead he put on another Outlook. I installed Outook 2000, removed his program and now I get an error re:pst file. Any idea why I can't send/receive mail?

Question 2: My three year old laptop worked fine until the power cord somehow pulled the plug-in from the motherboard. Repair shop kept it for three weeks, said they soldered it several times and it wouldn't hold, so they sold me a new one. Did I get ripped off or is it next to impossible to fix?

Thanks so much for any advice given,
PattyB

Answer:outook calendar

Hello and Welcome to TSF

I cannot answer your first question, there is not enough information to go off of. You need to post a complete error message and when you recieve this error.

As for question 2, yes you can solder those connections back on to the motherboard but sometimes they dont hold as they stated. You may just have had a unexperienced person do the soldering, hard to tell.

Answer:Help using Outook 2010

If it is only that one Email, I would guess Outlook classes it as a security risk/virus/trogan and will not allow it.You could check the security settings (may be set too high)or if it is an attachment, you may have to save it first, before trying to open it.Terry

I looked around and for some reason I can't create a email template in outlook 2007.
I found this:

Save the email as a template. Select the "Office" button, and then "Save As" in the "Save as type" drop-down list. Select "Outlook Template." Give the template a name, and choose a file location, or accept the default folder of "Templates." Click "Save."

BUT there is no option in the SAVE AS drop down menu for Save As Template....

Answer:Can't create outook template

HiI don't use Outlook. However I do use other Office applications. When I want to save a Document or Excel Template I click on File on the toolbar and select Save as.In the dialog box that opens, I click on the down arrow at the end of the box that says Save as type and this gives me the options to save the file as a template (amongst other things).

Here we go again - another problem with Outlook, but this time I think it is Yahoo UK (please note UK):

I have had 1 email acct with gmail and 2 email accts with Yahoo UK. They have worked fine until a few days ago. When I try send/receive one Yahoo account came up with error 0x800CCC92. I finally removed it and when I tried putting it in as new, the test message would not work. After repeated attempts, I now can send for some reason, but for receiving I get:

Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR (AUTH) Incorrect username or password.

I can access my email on the web for that account with no problem. All of the settings are exactly the same as the Yahoo account that works and I still cannot get the incoming to work on this one.

Any ideas?

Answer:Outook 2010 ERR (AUTH)

2 days after this post, Yahoo sent & received with no problems and I did nothing to make that happen. All was fine until today - it is happening again!

My new computer running Windows 7 64 bit suddenly has developed the proclivity to enable Outlook 2007 to crash. I've followed all the hints on posts here on the site and none of them have fixed the problem. The problem goes like this: Outlook opens, sometimes lets me view a message or two before crashing, but most of the time it crashes when I am receiving, suddenly I get the error message Outlook has stopped working and am offered the option of re-starting or searching the web (has not born fruit yet) and restarting, either way the app restarts and immediately displays a second message that the application will close, either of two options once again, search the web for a cure and close or just plain close. This is certainly driving me crazy, this app is a must in my day job, I can't even respond to mission critical messages...btw, I have run scanpst (it's a pop3 account), outlook maintenance, installation repair, un installed and re installed, it's still here...help!!! This quirk is going to get me fired....Thanks
Olt, apparently when shutting down, it's not communicating with the server because when it launches again I receive 4-6 duplicate messages, even if I have deleted them before it bails out.

I am having a problem with MS Project 2007 crashing whenever you try and perform a function within it. The application will load, an will even allow you to connect to your Project Server. However, whenever you try to do anything beyond that (ex: open a project schedule), the application will crash.

I have tried repairing, and re-installing Project. I have also tried un-installing & re-installing all of Office (with reboots in-between each step, just to be sure). Project has all of the available updates installed, including the Office 2007 SP1. It is running on a WinXP machine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If a new e-mail message pops up in down right side corner of screen, then after clicking on that e-mail message Windows Mail app starts. This app shows first e-mail account general view instead the e-mail reading view, where it should redirect me after clicking pop-up message.
I have multiple accounts in Windows Mail app and always after clicking the new e-mail notification, Mail app starts with first e-mail account general view, althought this e-mail is not associated with firstly showed e-mail account.
How I can make Mail app to show right e-mail accounts reading view after clicking on new e-mail pop-up?

Answer:Windows 10 Mail app won't open right e-mail throught pop-up

I forgot to mention that it happens only with Hotmail and Outlook e-mails. Gmail e-mails are opening alright after clicking pop-up.

WLM always returns to the File tab, even after clicking on Mail. Also, I can't enter any contacts.

Answer:open windows live mail on mail tab

you could always try to repair WLM. Control Panel, programs, Uninstall a program, Scroll down to Windows Essentials 2012, Right Click on it and click on Uninstall/Change then select Repair all Windows Essentials programs.

I am building up a new computer and I want to be able to transfer my Favorites, my Address Book entires, and a number of EMails that I have in my current computer to my new computer.

I am using IE 6.0 and OE 6.0.

I know I can save my emails on a Zip Disc or a CD as .eml files and view them that way but I want to actually transfer them from my current computer to my new computer.

Can someone let me know what I need to to in order to transfer my Favorites, my Address Book entires, and my EMails? I need pretty complete guidance such as where to find the items on my current computer and where to put the items once I get them onto my new computer.

Thanks a bunch for the assistance.

Answer:Need Internet Explorer & Outook Express Help.

go to "Documents and Settings" directory then into your User Directory and you will see the Favorites directory and then just copy your old favorites into this directory.

I hope this helps.

I am operating on Windows 7 OS and am having difficulty with Outlook for Office 2010. It always asks for a password each time I sign on and when I open an email. For some reason it doesn't store my password.

Answer:Outook 2010 always requires password

That problem is by no means unique to Outlook 2010, it happens also on Outlook 2007 and on the version before that, and neither is it unique to Windows 7.

Try putting your POP3 server name and password into the "Credential Manager" in Control Panel. For good measure I entered my email credentials twice -- in "Windows Credentials" and in "Generic Credentials". I hardly see that pesky password prompt since doing that.

I've been having problems with Outlook Express crashing and/or having problems that keep giving me an error message about the log file being too big or something. I keep my sent file folder and deleted file folder relatively empty. My inbox has less than 20 items in it, none of them huge. Can anyone tell me how and where I can fix this? If there is no fix, if I download a new copy of Outlook Express over the old one, will my address book reamin in tact? Thanks for your help.

Marlo

Answer:Outook Express - log file problem

Try some maintenance first and see if this helps to clear it up.
Close all programs except Outlook Express, including any antivirus programs you may have running.

First in OE, Tools>Options>Maintenance, uncheck the option for: Compact messages in the background and leave it unchecked from now on.

File>Folder>Compact all Folders. Leave the computer alone until it has completed compacting.

Let us know if this resolves the problem or not.
