MathType add-in not working for 64bit MS Office 2010 64bit

Question: MathType add-in not working for 64bit MS Office 2010 64bit

Just got into the flavour of windows 7 for a couple of days and I'm lovin' it.

Now, I installed Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus 64 bit on my system. Then I tried to use the Mathtype plugin 6.6a, but I cannot make it to work.

What I've done so far:

1. Installed MS Office 2010 Professional Plus 64bit successfully.
2. Installed Mathtype 6.6a successfully.
3. Copied the following files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\STARTUP
C:\Program Files\Math Type\MathPage\MathPage.wll
C:\Program Files\Math Type\Office Support\MathType Commands 6 For Word.dotm
C:\Program Files\Math Type\Office Support\
What is the error I am getting?

1.When I open MS Word, there is a macro warning (as usual) and when I "Enable Content", the following error screen pops up:

2. When I press "OK", I get the following error screen:

3. The "Help" button shows me the following windows7 help:

Is it possible to integrate the add-in to the MS Office 2010?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: MathType add-in not working for 64bit MS Office 2010 64bit

We at Design Science are working on 64-bit office compatibility for MathType. However, the current version is not recommended for use with Office 2010. More importantly, Microsoft doesn't even recommend installing 64-bit Office, even on 64-bit Windows, unless you really, really need it. See 64-bit editions of Office 2010.

Just bought a new laptop with Windows7 64bit installed-my first exposure to Windows7. I had Office 2007 installed on my old Dell 32 bit machine. I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine.

Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".

I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.

I have not seen this particular item in the forums and would appreciate very much some help in fixing this issue.

I tried Wiindows Installer Cleanup utility but i couldnt find any traces of Office 2013.

Hi majorbaluga, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Removing Office completely can be difficult. Refer to the website below. This explains how to remove Office 2013. You may have to remove office 2010 as well & then reinstall office 2010.

Most of the posts I've observed are somewhat dated, well in 2009 the argument that 64 bit Office 2010 is not quite as stable as its 32 bit counterpart, probably due to many applications still run in 32 bit.

Well its 2012 now, and I have 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium and thru the college got a 32bit Office 2010 for the desktop and another 64 bit I would like to install on laptop now.

Are these issues still prevalent with the 64bit of Office 2010?

Hello SF gurus and members

I just want to know which office 2010 is the best to install on my Windows 7 PRO 64bit,

do you recommend 32bit version or 64bit version of MS Office 2010.
what is the difference of it?
any inputs is highly appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Which is recommended MS Office 2010 32bit or 64bit version?

I've been using the 32bit version for over a year now with no issues. I guess that if you are using very large spreadsheets or presentation then 64bit is the way to go and it is the future of course.

Hi there,

at the moment i'm trying to install the sp2 for office 2010 64bit via windows update and it fails every time. During the installation it asks for the file ProPlusWW.msi and i'm pointing to the file in the x64-folder on the dvd. Shortly after that the installation quits with code 8024002D 'Unkown error in windows update' (see attachment).

PS: like the picture shows its a german installation

I hope somebody can help me

Answer:Office 2010 64bit: error code 8024002D during installation SP2

I also tried to install via downloading the sp2 (officesp2010-kb2687455-fullfile-x64-de-de.exe) but this fails also. The problem here is that it only shows a message box (Error during installation of the package.) without any code/error-number.

windows 7 64bit will not let office 2010 plus 32 bit or 64bit open temples from the new documents. or let office connect to online help. Also will not let broswer go to page times out. No firewall turned on. use trend micro antivirus/spyware.

Hello -
I just went ahead and put on Vista 64 Bit OS on my PC (I was using Vista 32) because I have 4 gigs of ram and wanted full use of all of them. I run a lot of memory intensive apps, so this move made sense for me.

So, I'm just wondering if any other Vista 64 bitters out there have some tips, software suggestions, etc to pass along so I can make sure I get the most out of my OS.

I was thinking about trying Firefox 64bit (minefield), not sure its ready to play with yet tho...

Thanks for any tips or software suggestions your willing to give!

Hopefully somebody here can help me. I've looked around everywhere to find a solution for this issue, but this problem differs from all the threads you can find in many forums around there: it already worked well for me

My problem:
I want to run a 64-bit virtual machine with VirtualBox on my 64-bit host OS (Win 10 Home).
When I created the VM, there was already an option for 64-bit guests in VirtualBox settings, so I installed Windows 64-bit and everything was fine.

Now, apparently after uninstalling McAfee Internet Security with the official Removal Tool, I can't start my 64-bit VM anymore. (but I can't find any McAfee related solutions on Google as well) Instead, I get errors that say the 64-bit guest 'will not be able to boot', Hyper-V virtualization errors, etc. - no wonder, the 64-bit option is suddenly completely gone, when I take a look at the VirtualBox settings. Therefore I can't create or use any 64-bit VM anymore.

After searching for solutions for many hours I have to add the following:

There was never an option for Hyper-V under 'programs and features', I guess because I use the Home edition of Win10 which doesn't include Hyper-V.

In my BIOS there is no option with virtualization, VT,... or any similar option. I googled and it seems like my Acer notebook would enable it by default but locks the option to disable it in the BIOS (like I said, it already worked perfectly)

Hi, just next to your post is mine, where on my new custom PC I found the Acceleration tab in Virtualbox greyed out.

I could not install Win 8 as a VM, and got an error about VT-X....... a setting which is under the Acceleration tab.

Like you, I found my UEFI offered no Virtualisation setting.. a dumbed down set of options.
The supplier immediately understood my problem, and said that Virtualisation was normally enabled on their PCs (on many in general it is not). So I sent mine back- they have another identical model where it's working.

What surprises me from your report is that you got as far as installing Win 10 as a VM if that was true in your case. If you also ran it, and the Acceleration tab is not greyed out, that suggests Virtualisation technologies are enabled on your PC. I'm not clear if you got that far.

On that basis looking for Hyper-V will not help (and it's not available in Home as you say).

How do I seamlessly make a triple boot of XP (32bit), 7 (64bit), Ubuntu (64bit) on a single 3TB hard drive without needing to switch between UEFI and BIOS? I'm trying to make 7 the largest partition, and the other two smaller. I know MBR has a 2TB limit, but is that limit per drive or per partition?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Triple boot XP (32bit), 7 (64bit), Ubuntu (64bit) on a 3TB drive

Partition the drive into the 3 sizes you want. Install XP first, then 7, and Ubuntu last so grub doesn't get messed up. It would be easier and quicker to just install windows 7 and then make Vm's of XP and Ubuntu though. Is there any reason those can't be virtualized?

I am owner of a Tecra S10 and using Vista 64bit as operating system.
Unfortunately Toshiba is not really supporting this OS version, because the offered drivers have to be collected over different products which are using same hardware.

Does anyone knows wether Toshiba will start sharing drivers for Vista 64bit soon and what's about Win7?

I think Vista 64bit drivers will run under Win7 as well, but **** when will they officially release drivers for Vista 64bit or Win7?

Any info would be interesting.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Tecra S10 - Vista 64bit and Win7 64bit driver question

> I think Vista 64bit drivers will run under Win7 as well, but **** when will they officially release drivers for Vista 64bit or Win7?
Why you don?t contact the Toshiba and ask the guys for this info?
Then you could share this info with us? I mean this is a user to user forum and I doubt there are some official guys from Toshiba?

But I?ve got a own theory; I think the Win 7 drivers will be released after the official Win 7 release. At this time you can get only the Beta version Win 7.

Regarding the Vista 64bit OS drives;
I checked the Toshiba European driver page and the 64bit Vista drivers are available so where is the problem?

Cheers mate

Hi all,

I want to update the drivers for my GTX260 graphics card.
I downloaded the appropriate driver for my OS, Vista Home premium 64 bit (OEM):
Driver: 182.06_geforce_winvista_64bit_english_whgl.
But when I try to run the driver application I get the following error:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.Check your computer's system information to see wether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact your software publisher".

I have the same problem with 64bit NVidia networkcontrollers.

Is this a known problem or am I doing something wrong?

System: Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz, 8GB RAM, Geforce GTX260, Asus P5N-D (nForce 750ichipset)
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1 (OEM)

Answer:Unable to install 64bit NVidia drivers on Vista 64bit

I was just wondering if this could be just an installer problem.
The filesize of 182.06_geforce_winvista_64bit_english_whql is just 22kb.
I noticed on another site (64bit and x64) they have a download of the same driver that is a 100 MB.

Is anyone familiar with Can I safely download the NVidia drivers
from there?

And do I really need to install 64bit versions of the driver or can I just as well install the 32 bit version of the same driver (even though my OS is 64 bit) ???

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi every one,

i have this machine which is causing too much headache for me,

this machine was having Windows XP 64 Bit,

Any way i'm still having those BSOD crashes,

tried to remove and install nVidia Driver,
tried to install a different version of that driver with no results,
tried to remove McAfee AV and installed Kaspersky Internet security 2013 also no result,

now i have grabbed all the data using SF Tool, and i really hope that u can help me with that issue.

I have a DVB card called Twinhan 1025

Twinhan company is gone so they dont provide new drivers

the driver we have is for Vista 64bit which works well with RAM more or less than 4 GB but in Windows 7 64bit it works with only RAM less than 4 GB

My RAM is 6 GB when I boot normally I am able to get the signal level and quality but cant add channels or view them

when I set the boot option the limits the memory to 4000MB I am able to view or add new channels
This is not a software issue
cause I have tried programs in compatibility mode and as administrator
and download viewers for 64bit OS and for 32 bit OS

So it's a driver problem or Windows 7 problem

Now can I do something to make Windows allow this driver to map specific range of memory ?
Please help with any solution cause the workaround of limiting the boot memory isn't a practical one

I even tried to install VM's and install Windows XP but they do not provide access to PCI slots

Hello All

Well just have a few questions before i start the setup for the exchange server. kinda new to this exchange thing.

do i have to host the site from the exchange server or in house such as setting up the domain in iis? or can i leave it on the 3rd party hosting server and just have it link to it.
when i make the change for the MX records from the 3rd party hosting company will it affect my domain names (websites) or is this just going to point the emails to my location or to the FQDN.
also if anyone knows what is the web address for OWA ( outlook web access)
well thats all for now if anyone can shine some light would be helpful.

does this help at all? I've never done an exchange, though this has spurred me into setting one up just for kicks.

This message goes away after about 4 OK clicks.
If I try and click the MathType button on the toolbar, the second message pops back and this time it won't go away untill I close Word via the task manager..

Anyone got an idea?

We need tons more info.

First can you go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search)

Go to the windows log>application tab.

Look for critical errors (they have red in the left hand column) that say app hang, app crash, or anything relevant to the problem
When you find them note the event ID and source codes and relay them to us.

Hello everyone,

I don't know if this was asked before, please forgive me if this is just a repeat. I am new in the forum.

Does 64bit machines (Dual Processors or Quad etc) need a 64bit Vista to maximize its capabilities? I noticed that new PCs and Laptops shipped today have pre-installed Vista but 32bit OS . . . why is this? Or does it really matter? Please explain this puzzling mystery to a non-techie like me.

Thanks guys.

I like Windows 95, 98, XP and Vista!!!!!

Answer:Does 64bit machines (Dual Processors) need a 64bit Vista?

Hello Rockrus, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Yes, you get the most out of your 64 bit machine by using a 64 bit OS with it. It will not hurt anything to use a 32 bit OS though.

This article may be an interesting read for you to help explain all of the differences between 32 bit and 64 bit.

Hope this helps,

So last night I started the Win 7 Pro 64 bit "upgrade" on my vista 64 bit business OS.

Before doing this on my home machine - I tested first at work on a VM of vista 32bit business - upgrade to win 7 32 bit pro.... took about 30 min. Done. Of course thats a vanilla install too.

I dont have a lot on my PC at home... a handful of programs at most. Going on 19 HOURS later, it is still at the "transferring files, settings and programs (62%) portion of the upgrade and still shows activity happening.

Any ideas on what is taking this so long to do? Suggestions on if I should just scrap this upgrade install ?

I have a Dell Xps/410, running Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. Intel Q6600 2.4GHz. processor, Nvidia 8600GTS 256 video card with 250 Gb. SATA II hard drive and Creative audio.
Everytime I try to install the WIndows 7 BETA version it doesn't recognize the CD. I have made the CD-ROM first priority in the system's BIOS but it still doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestion? Would this happen to have something to do with my system being a DELL?
Or maybe I should consider wiping the hard drive first and then trying to install Windows 7 version.

I didn't know whether to post this in "printers", "Win7", or "drivers".
Anyways I am buliding up a new win 7 computer and I downloaded what I think are the correct 64 bit drivers for my Canon IP4000, but the os and these
files refuse to recognise my printer. It's hooked up by usb and it only shows up as a "Microsoft Document XPS Writer". When I click on "add printer" and "find printer" it says something about the printer needing a 32 bit driver and attempts to find it on the internet & elsewhere but it cant see the printer. Is there somebody in this forum with experience with this??...

I just ordered a new T500 and it hasn't been shipped yet.  When I placed my order, I saw the Vista Business 64 option, but I also saw the Vista Ultimate with Downgrade to XP option, so I chose the latter, thinking that Ultimate would also be a 64-bit operating system.  After all, selecting the option cost more than the Business 64 version. In checking the Hardware Maintenance manual, however, it lists the OSs offered on the T500 as including Vista Ultimate in 32bit mode only. Yikes!  I need a 64bit OS!  Is there anything I can do?  My understanding is that Vista Ultimate, as shipped by Microsoft in a boxed configuration, combes in both 32 and 64 bit editions.  Will Lenovo ship me both versions?  Is there an easy upgrade path?  Or am I better off trying to get my order changed back to a Business 64 version?  Is that even possible? Thank you.

Answer:Vista Ultimate - NOT 64bit? How to make it 64bit

Replying to my own post -- ISSUE RESOLVED: I contacted sales, where they explained the following:  Selecting "Windows Vista Ultimate with XP Professional Downgrade" as your OS choice means your laptop will ship with XP (32 bit) installed, along with a DVD for Vista Ultimate (32 bit). Once I learned that, I received their assistance in changing my order to the Vista Business 64 edition. I want to point out that I received absolutely EXCELLENT customer service from various Lenovo people today, and I haven't even received the product yet.  If that's any indication, I'm sure I'm going to be a very happy customer. Thank you.

I have searched all over the internet and found no solution to my problem. But considering my situation I am sure there must be a solution so here goes.
Short story: My pc says its 64bit capable but it doesn't seem to be able to recognize any 64bit install disks. What should I do?

Long story: A while back I upgraded from vista to windows 7. When I did this I could choose between a 32bit and a 64bit installation. I tried 64bit but it said that was not possible on my computer (I cant remember the exact error message). I didn't make much of it and just installed 32bit. But now I need 64bit for the new adobe video editor. I don't have that first windows 7 install disk. But I since bought a new windows 7 Home Premium 64bit disk. When I insert this and start up the laptop it simply says: system disk error or non system disk.
It seems like my pc is not 64 bit capable and so cannot recognize the disk. But on my pc specs (you can check your specs somewhere) it says that my pc processor is 64bit capable.
I'm not sure what this means. Does this mean the processor is 64bit capable but the hard drive or motherboard is not?
All the hardware (except the battery and power cable) is still the original from when I bought the laptop (3 years ago) so it wouldn't make any sense to have a 64bit processor with an inferior motherboard/hard drive.

I don't know why my pc wont install 64bit. What should I do?

Things I've tried:
- I read somewhere if you have more than 2GB RAM that could b... Read more

Answer:Cant install 64bit even though my processor is 64bit capable.

I would recommend at least 4 GB of RAM and at least 20GB of free Hard disk space. If your HDD is 20GB then I would consider getting a new hard disk to find Windows and any ADobe apps as they do considerably use up a lot of disk space.

I know OS have to be 64bit, but I'm not sure about the hardware, what hardware need to be 64bit capable to fully support 64bit applications, OS etc?

Answer:What hardware need to be 64bit for building a 64bit system?

There's no hardware as such that you need to run a 64Bit OS. It's generally recommended that you have a reasonably fast system with 4GB or more RAM as 64 Bit applications are able to make use of it. More importantly, not too many 64Bit specific applications are available right now. However, that will increase in the near future as more and more people adopt a 64Bit platform.

Are you looking to build a new PC to run the new OS?

I have upgraded my NB550D to Windows7 Home Premium and installed 4Gb RAM.
It's working much better but want to go further and do a _clean install_ of Windows7 Ultimate _64bit_ in order to take full advantage of theupgrade in RAM.

My question is: What do I do about the Toshiba drivers for 64bit? I presume i will need some?

What is the best way to go about the upgrade - any help will be appreciated! :D

Answer:NB550D - Best way to install Win 7 64bit and 64bit drivers

If you would switch to Win 7 64bit then you will need some Win 7 64bit drivers.
On the Toshiba European driver page I could find some 64bit drivers but it looks like not all Toshiba tools for Win 7 64bit are released.

Drivers for WLan or BT stack can be found here:

All other drivers or Toshiba tools like value added package or Face Recognition, Eco Utility and others could be used from other notebook series? for example Satellite C660D or other series like L750D, L755D or C670D
Surely you have to pay attention to the built in graphic chip, LAN or chipset?
Use the drivers which are released for the chips in NB550D

Hi there,

I recently bought a DVD from an authorized dealer. He sold me a DVD containing 32bit and 64bit Microsoft Office 2010. After starting the DVD, I open it up and i see the following list of directories:

_Office 2010 English language pack x86 x64
Microsoft Office 2010 box.jpg
Microsoft Office 2010 DVD label.jpg

Now when I run the setup.exe, it just executes the 32bit office setup which gives an error that I have installed Microsoft Access Database 64bit and therefore, it can't stay alongwith the 32bit of Office you are trying to install, here is the error;

Setup Error
You cannot install the 32-bit version of Office 2010 because you have 64-bit Office products installed. These 64-bit products are not supported with 32-bit installations:

Microsoft Access database engine 2010 (English)

If you want to install 32-bit Office 2010, you must uninstall all 64-bit Office products first, and then run setup.exe in the x86 folder. If you want to install 64-bit Office 2010, close this Setup program, and then either go to the x64 folder at the root of your CD or DVD and run setup.exe, or get the 64-bit Office 2010 from the same place you purchased 32-bit Office 2010.

Hi guys,

The Mouse Right-Click function to display Marking Menus or insert key frames.. anything that related to the Right-Click Mouse Function is just not displaying the Menus. Hi. I understand the problem but unfortunately can't say how to fix it.

You could try installing the Logitech or whatever mouse driver for the x64. See if there is a patch to Maya to have it updated too.

I have a user who is using MS Windows Vista 64bit and MS Office XP SBE. When the user tries to open any Excel documents from the desktop, by double clicking the file, it opens as a read-only, and has a temporary file name (X00000.....). If the user has excel already open, and does a "File", "Open", and opens the exact same document, it opens fine - not read-only, and able to
"save" rather than "save as".

The file itself is NOT read-only.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as how to make it so the files don't open as read only.

I am not saying for sure, but I'm wonder if it is a 64bit issue????

Answer:MS Office XP SBE & Windows Vista 64bit

When I refer to "you" I mean you & the computer owner.

When did the problem begin? Date might be helpful. Of greater usefulness is any association between onset and installation of a program, or an update to Windows or Office or anti virus or other. A few years ago, an XP update caused a similar problem with Microsoft Word.

Check the Windows update history to correlate a date of onset with a Windows update.
control panel > classic view > windows updates.

Have you tried to repair Excel?

Finally, does it happen in safe mode?
I prefer the "tap F8 once a second during the startup process" method.

I work with massive amounts of data in excel and it crashes on me quite frequently and runs slow on quite often. It is not a hardware issue I am running Windows 7 64bit with an intel i7 2.8 GHZ with 16GB RAM. I have also disabled all but 2 of the add-ins and I'm pretty certain they are not the issue.
I have been pondering whether to switch to the 64bit version of Office as I have a feeling it would stop many of the crashes due to the massive amounts of data I work with, but I am concerned about compatibility and will I lose/gain anything by switching?

Answer:What is the difference between the 32bit vs 64bit Office?

The 64 Bit version would probably work better for you since the 32 bit one is limited to around 2 Gb of ram usage if I'm not mistaken, but you also must have a 64 bit version of the OS, so unless you have it you can't switch to it.

I have Win7 and Office 2010 both 64 bit. I also have a 32 bit application running where I need a 32 bit *.accdb
(MS Access) ODBC driver. Using the 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe is returning “The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application”. So I need a
32 bit ODBC *.accdb driver for my application.
My problem:
When I open c:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcsys32.exe and try to ADD a new dsn there is only a *.mdb driver available for MS Access. Does anyone know how to
add a 32 bit MS Access *.accdb driver to c:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcsys32.exe? Maybe I missed something obvious but this is giving me headache after browsing through the Internet for a solution.

Answer:32 bit ODBC driver for MS Access 2010 (*.accdb) is missing in Win7 64bit

Carl, I just figured out a solution... If you are running a 64-bit Computer and Running Access 2010, you will first need to download the AccessDatabaseEngine.exe from Microsoft.

After the download finishes, and installs, You will need to create an ODBC connection. Instead of creating an ODBC connection through your Administrative Tools, Data Sources (ODBC) interface, you will need to run the 64-bit instance of Data Sources (ODBC).
To do this, you will need to click your "Windows" + "R" buttons on the keyboard, and then paste "c:\windows\sysWOW64\odbcad32.exe" -- without quotes into the dialog. Then create the connection to the database as you would on a 32 bit machine.
I had the same issues with the *.accdb not showing up in my 64 bit ODBC connections. It then showed up after performing the above steps.
Hope this Helps,
Alex Mahrou

First posting. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Machine/System spec:
CPU Type HexaCore Intel Xeon X5660, 2800 MHz (21 x 133)
Motherboard Name Hewlett-Packard HP Z800 Workstation
Motherboard Chipset Intel Tylersburg 5520, Intel Westmere
System Memory 6128 MB (DDR3 SDRAM)
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
OS Service Pack Service Pack 1
System hardware - new (2012)
OS age - new (2012) not re-installed.

This workstation has Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business installed. When a document is saved the machine will crash with bsod in mup.sys.

This appears to only happen when saving a document, docx format, to a physical drive other than the one containing the OS. So saving to a folder on drive C: appears to be ok, equally saving to logical drive K:, which is also on the first physical HDD, is also ok. However saving to any logical drives on other physical HDDs produces the bsod.

Of course the physical drive aspect my just be coincidence.

I've attached the bsod analysis and perfmon report in file

If anyone needs any more information please let me know.

Thanks for any help.

All the best

Hi, all. I have an issue with Microsoft Office on my Dell Inspiron 15. Apparently, when they made this computer and preprogrammed Office, they chose 64 bit. Which is fine. But my college offers a free license to Office ProPlus 2016 for the duration of my being a student...But the problem is, the school's download is a 32 bit. I am using an HP Office Jet V40 Printer on my Laptop which runs Windows 8. Ive recently bought new ink for it and aligned the ink (and by recent i mean last night). I test the ink cartridges and the printer prints the pages fine. Full pages. However when i go to print some homework I have typed up ready to be printed, it prints a partial page, whether its 7/8 of the page. 1/2, or 1/4 of the page. It rarely prints a full page, so repeatedly gambling is a waste of ink and paper for me. I researched this and tried finding an answer on my own. I dont know if its the printer. Ive used this printed on my older laptop for many things successfully, that had Windows 7 Home Professional on it fine. I think in the past, ever since I started using this printer with my Windows 8 Laptop it's been bugging out. I cannot remember since before these last two days i havent used this printer in a long time. But, could anyone probably figure out how to fix this issue for me? I'll be typing a lot of things so i'd like to try and get it all done with this printer.

Also. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. I believe it may be a driver issue, and when I saw hardware I assumed a printer topic can fit in here. if its in the wrong section, if you could move it to the proper section it'd help. My apologies in advance.

Thank you in advance!

Answer:HP Office Jet V40 Printing partial pages, OS Win8 64Bit

Hi when you put it onto this laptop you have now is it wifi or cable?
Did you have a disc that came with it ?
Have installed the latest drivers for that model to work with windows 8?
What you can try is shut printer down, go to control panel, Program and features, find your printer and uninstall everything with HP against it.
Restart your laptop then if you have a disc run it until you are told to turn on your printer,
If no disc then go to Devices and if cable make sure it is connected, then click find my device.
Windows should scan and find it and upload the drivers and software for it.
Hope that helps you

I have recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from XP 32bit. When I was running XP, Office 2003 ran fine on it, nice and quick. Since installing Office 2003 with Win 7, I have found that documents drag on it. By this I mean, if I'm scrolling down an excel spreadsheet or word document, it will be quite slow and the text will "flicker" as I am scrolling down. Basically, I can't scroll down as quickly as I could on XP. This is particularly noticeable on larger documents.

Also, for example, if I insert a row of cells on Excel, it is slightly delayed and certainly not as quick as it was with XP.

I have installed SP3 for Office 2003.

I have tried Office in the XP mode on Win7 and this actually seems to solve the problem but I found that the XP mode slowed down other programs that I was using on my PC so I would prefer to find a proper solution to the problem.

I also installed the 60 day free trial of Office 2010 on my PC and I still encountered the same slow issues. So I am certain this problem has something to do with Win7 and Office.

Has anyone encountered the same problem and does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Office 2003 slow with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

At a guess, I'd say your graphics adapter may be the culprit.

Download and install the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, which should flag up any problems that may occur as a result of the upgrade.

Also, can you please post your system specs?

I installed Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise 64 bit on my wife's laptop some while ago, but it will not install on my new computer for some reason. My system is also a 64bit system
Each time I try I keep getting a pop up box saying the following:

'Setup cannot find the required setup controller file. Either there was a network error reading from the CD, DVD or other installation media, or a other problem with the package you download.
Any idea please how to fix this please.

Answer:Problem installing Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 64bit

Have you tried exploring the DVD contents and clicking on setup.exe? Hold down the shift key whilst you insert DVD in drive (this stops Autorun DVD) so you can explore the contents. suggests solution. Also note: Office 2007 is 32-bit only but will run in a 64-bit Windows OS. Office 2010 is the first that has both 32 and 64 bit version though the 32-bit still works in a 64-bit os.

OK so I have two Edius editing machines at work I have to upgrade to a 64bit OS because Adobe after effects CS4 is a resource hog and we need more than 4GB of mem (well more than 3.25 because of the 32bit limitation). So the company that built these was nice enough to send me Vista 64bit and an additional 4GB of memory for each machine (because they royally screwed up by admiting that After effects was a known resource hog and we should have had more memory but we couldnt put in more memory because they sold us the 32bit XP lol).

So anyway.... I now have Vista 64bit sitting in my hands and it amazingly enough comes with the free upgrade to Win 7 64bit, which I would assume since it isnt out until after october 22nd I can not get it until then.

So I am faced with a IT problem management wants the 64bit OS and memory upgrade so the editors will run smoother.... but I know from my own experience while Vista isn't horrible, it isnt exactly great and Win 7 is much much better.

Do I:

Leave the XP 32bit until october 22nd, then do the Win7 install and memory upgrades having a completely clean and fresh system

Go ahead and do the Vista install now along with the memory upgrades then on the 22nd get the Win 7 upgrade and do an inplace upgrade of Vista 64bit to win 7 64bit

Answer:Vista 64bit to 7 64bit upgrade, an IT admins dillema, install, upgrade or MSDN it now

If you put Win7 from MSDN on there, the upgrade key won't work since the MSDN version is a Retail Full install.

I would just put Vista64 on there and then do a clean install of Win7 come October.
Btw, Vista64 SP2 works very very well, I was very surprised at how well it worked and had absolutely no issues the 4 months that I used it on my main machine (my HTPC was running Vista64 for about a year but I only watched media with it). Win7 is on all my machines now.

hi there;

i downloaded some audio programs and afterwards ie9 64bit would not work (32 bit DOES). i tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the update failed. after removing the programs ie9 installed but 64bit would not load any web sites.

i have tried resetting ie9, flushing the dns etc using "SF IE9 RESTORATOR" all to no avail. google chrome and opera are working fine.

any help is highly appreciated, thanks in advance

Answer:IE9 64bit not working

Something worth trying:Start>type Turn Windows in the search box. From the list that appears under Control Panel, click on 'Turn Windows features on or off'
turn off IE9 and reboot. Then, re-enable İE9 and reboot again.Disabling re-enabling is done by removing and then re-checking the checkmark in the box.

Lesson learnt from this,ALWAYS create system restore points before any downloads/installs/updates.(İ don't always follow my own advise mind you

I am having issues with installing Office 2003 Professional on my HP Pavilion Elite - Windows 7 64-bit machine which I just purchased. I understand that there has been some issues with the compatitablity from the 32-bit to the 64-bit verison but I have found sites that states Office 2003 is compatitable with Windows 7 and some people have had success installing it on their own 64bit machines. I have two other PCs (Gateway desktop and HP Laptop) which are running the XP 32bit operating system with this Gateway Distribution CD (bought it with my Gateway machine years ago) - Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Software. I was able to succesfully install Office on my HP laptop even when its a Gateway Distribution CD so I know that is not the issue.

The issue I have ran into is when I install it by by-assing the front-end installation process (opened the Office setup.exe file on the CD drive or even copied it to my HD) the Installshield program comes up and it starts the installation process. However, when it is performing the requested services an error pops-up stating the following "This verison of Office is not compatitable with your system" then closes out. Now, I have tried to run the setup program under Windows XP (Service pack 2 and 3) and neither works.

In addition, I have uninstalled the office 2007 trial software and any other Office viewer programs from my machine. However, I still have Microsoft Works 9.0 still installed because I wouldnt think it wou... Read more

Answer:Windows 8 64bit IE 10 app not working

1. when you switch to apps - from desktop by pressing windows key on keyboard.
DO YOU have IE on your start menu
OR are you then right clicking on a blank area and clicking on all apps and then opening from there

2.When you say it does not connect - is that a message, as depending on how it has been used it only opens on a blank screen, but at the bottom you should see the IE symbol and the bar

Please see my screenshot - that bar is at the bottom of the page I have copied and pasted only the bar

Answer:Windows 10 64bit can't working with my laptop

Hi, you only need a 64bit OS when you have more than 4Gb RAM - or if you plan to add more RAM of course.

Perhaps your thinking about 2.89Gb comes from part of your RAM being shared with a video card, or used by integrated graphics.

Hi there,

I've looked over the forums and google but I really can't find anything that is exactly like my situation.

I was editting a pdf with Nitro PDF and I got the blue physical memory dump screen and a restart. After the restart, 'windows problem center has stopped working' followed by a couple other start-up programs. I then go to access IE and I get the 'not connected to the internet' screen (which I am connected) followed by 'IE has stopped working' when I close it. This happens (stopped working error) when I close a list of programs like iTunes, my virus scanner but not Acrobat Reader or Microsoft Word.

I am wondering if anyone has a solution or can tell me what information/tests (whichever I'm able to run) I can do to provide you with more information.

SO close! Help me get this ball across the goal line!

I have a old "Microtek ScanMaker E3" scsi flatbed scanner that originally came with an ISA scsi interface (to give you some idea of how old it is). I connected it to my PC using a equally ancient Tekram 390F pci SCSI card (c.1995) that I've been using with 32bit WinXP Pro for years.

The scanner has an 8-1/2" x 14" scanning bed, 9600dpi and 48bit color reproduction. It works great and I see no reason to spend a few hundred dollars to replace it just for Win7 compatibility, so I'm trying to get it to work with the 64bit version of Windows 7.

To complicate things, the company that made my SCSI card (Tekram) went out of business years ago, so the 32bit XP driver was the last they made. But after MUCH Googling, I found a 64bit Win7 compatible driver for another card using the same chipset, and low & behold, Windows 7 recognized it! It then "detected" my scanner for the first time, but didn't have a driver.

Again, after much searching, I found a Vista 64bit version of Microtek's "ScanWizard" scanner software with 64bit driver, and now 64bit Windows 7 detects my scanner! Yeah!

But when I try to access the scanner, I get an error telling me I "must install Color Matching System first" for the scanner to work. I don't remember any such software being needed to use the scanner with XP, and there is no such program in the ScanWizard software... Read more

Answer:Almost got my old scanner working w/Win7 64bit

That Microtek ScanMaker E3 scsi flatbed scanner ... didn't even work well with Windows XP... and the cost in time and components to attempt to make it work are much higher than a decent Canon or Epson scanner which can be had fof $40... Less if used...

On what system are you runny SCSI ?

Hey Guys n Girls,

I've had this issue for about 2 weeks now and i'm getting to the end of my tether here
I've spent way too much money on this machine and to be honest.. I just want it to work :'(
I even bought a new CPU because the guys at MSY said if I bought a new CPU the sound would work. But you guessed it.. It didnt, so yes I did waste $216.
Anyway enough about me whinging, wheres that going to get us?
So save me typing it all out here i'll do a bit of a copy paste from another forum I've tried for help (with no luck) Feel free to see what they have said and what hasn't worked:
(I'm Andy88)

Ive installed all the software that came with my motherboard and its RealTek sound drivers, on screen it says that its playing, that sound is coming through my speakers.. yet when i plug my speakers in its just a static sound.. (crackling popping - Some sound is getting through though very low sound under the snap crackle pop)

I'm running 5.1 Logitech sound system from my old computer (works fine), but with my new computer i've tryed all the plugs (yes I know they are colour coded Green[Front Speakers] Orange[Center / Sub] Black[Rear])
But for some reason it just comes out as static & when i plug my headphones in, same deal.

Answer:Audio / Sound not working - W7 64bit

Uninstall the RealTek in the Device Manager, DO NOT uninstall the drivers, then restart the PC and when Windows starts it should detect and reinstall the sound. If there was a corrupted status in Windows this will fix it. This also fixes a lot of flakey problems and may take care of yours.

I notice four NVIDIA entries, you should only have one of those for the NVIDIA HDMI Audio. You may have to unintall all of them and then restart the PC to get them straightened out where only one NVIDIA audio is shown.

With the four NVIDIA, although you have the RealTek set as default playback device, it suggests corruption in the sound devices and the uninstall, restart may clear this up.

I just bought my computer. (hp pavillion Elite 64 bit). Windows LiveOne Care worked great for June and July and then sometime in August it just quit. The computer tech guy at Future Shop (...luckily I also bought a 3 year warranty) said that EVERYBODY was having trouble. He said that when Microsoft instituted their new parental controls everything kinda crashed for them. He said that Microsoft was working their buns off to fix the problem. When I went to see him a week later he said the the problem was fixed for the Liveone Care users who have 32bit....but they were still working on the 64 bit problem..

He claims there is nothing for me to do - the problem lies with Microsoft. I have been unable to connect to LiveOne Care through the icon on my desktop, and my windows security alert is now THE RED X because I can't get any updates. (It has been over 4 weeks for me now!)

Is my computer technician guy right, or is there another problem. Should I look to a new security system (I'm quite new at computers...I mostly use it for making home movies for my family).

Thank you for reading my REALLY LENGTHY lament...
Please help!...or at least confirm that I haven't lost my marbles!!!

Answer:Live OneCare has quit working- HELP! (64bit)

That guy is wrong on something Live OneCare does not have parental controls. Parental Controls are built in to Vista, not Live OneCare.

You may want to uninstall Live OneCare and then reinstall it. This might straighten the program, and at the same time it will download and install Live OneCare version 2.5, which came out in June.

My mom gave me her old printer, since she got a new one, and I want to see if I can use it on my computer that I recently installed Windows 7 64bit on. It's a HP Photosmart 7350. I looked on the HP site for drivers but it seems there aren't any to download seeing as Win7 has a printer driver download thing built in. So I looked for a driver specifically made for Photosmart 7350 but there aren't any. When I looked for it on the web, apparently there is an alternate I can use (Deskjet 5550), which I installed from the "Add a printer" menu in the Devices and Printers window. It detected my printer but it doesn't print. When I try printing something I get errors. So I came here to see what I could do to fix this. I'm not sure what the problem is. Could I be using the incorrect drivers? Or is it something else?

I have a peculiar problem with aero peek. It sometimes just decides not to work anymore, and only shows labels instead of a preview. This is only temporary, because when I switch between other windows, the aero peek is activated again. I actually reproduced this behavior by switching to this post, and writing for 1-2 minutes. Hovering now only produced labels/tooltips. By switching to another window, aero was "activated" again.

I have tried the "Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects", but Windows couldn't find any problems
