Slow browser, slow internet, random audio ads: virus?

Question: Slow browser, slow internet, random audio ads: virus?

So yeah, I've these problems for the past couple days. My browsers (Opera and Firefox) used to load pages quickly, but now they're painfully slow. Opera lags and freezes often; Firefox doesn't, but it still takes a very long time to load pages.

I'm also getting these occasional "invisible ads," even when I don't have a browser open. I can hear the ads but I can't see them.

Also, I sometimes get redirected to unwanted sites. This mostly happens when I click on a search result in Google.

Here are some things I've done:

-Ran SUPERantispyware (I can post the log(s) if needed)
-Defragged hard drive
-Cleaned cache, cookies, etc. on both browsers

Preferred Solution: Slow browser, slow internet, random audio ads: virus?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Tienjt,

Scan your computer again, this time using Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti Malware as posted in the links below:-

Download CCleaner to get rid of temp files - it will make the antivirus scans go faster :-)
Download CCleaner 3.20.1750 - FileHippo.com

Download Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) from here:
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Download the updates for MSE from here:
Install the latest Microsoft Security Essentials definition updates - Get the latest definitions - Microsoft Malware Protection Center

Download malwarebytes from here:
Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.62 - FileHippo.com

And the malwarebytes updates from here:

NOTE: I'm currently receiving assistance from another source. I'll assume that I will get my problem fixed from them, so I guess this thread can be closed/locked. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi, first time posting here, so sorry if I missed anything in my post.

Both of the internet browsers I use (Opera and Firefox) have been extremely slow lately. Opera hangs and lags often; Firefox doesn't, but like Opera, it loads pages extremely slowly. I've tried cleaning the caches, cookies, temp files, etc. to no avail.

Also, I get these occasional audio ads that start playing even when no internet browser is open. I can't see the ads, but I can hear them. They last for 15 seconds or so. In addition, I sometimes get redirected to unwanted sites when I'm browsing (it usually occurs when I'm clicking on a search result in Google or something).

HI,

I have had this problem before, so I'm not sure if it is still the same program I was trying to get rid of that's merely resurfaced. Random Audio Ads, slow internet and disappearing icons are on the list of problems. The only thing I don't see that was an issue last time is the repeating instances of .32 processes.

Recently I was online and there was a popup, I went to close it and my mouse had moved and as unlucky as it was I had clicked download instead of the exit button. It downed some flash pro onto my computer that was inherently linked with some form of a trojan horse. When I'm on the internet occasionally I start to hear audio ads that don't go away even after I close internet explorer, and on the task manager it still shows IE processes running. Additionally when I start internet explorer it inevitably randomly closes in the first 5-10 minutes. Please Help!
I run windows 7 64bit.

Thanks for all the help I know I'm in great hands!

Hey everyone.

Well just recent I have noticed that I'm facing quite a few different problems. I'm not sure if it could be related to a newly installed WRT120N Linksys router or not because 2 other desktop computers in my household that are connected to it work perfectly fine.

Basically, my internet browser, Firefox, "lags" more than usual and has a very slow response time compared to normal. It takes awhile sometimes just to google search something. It should be quick (other 2 computer's internet connection working blazing fast) but it's not. (Speedtest shows that I should have around 20mb/s downloading speed, but actual use shows otherwise, as it is incredibly slow.) For some reason, Internet Explorer seems to outperform my Firefox too. And yes, I have also tried reinstalling Firefox.

At the same time, every few hours or so, my internet disconnects and the "Limited or no connectivity" warning shows at the bottom.

In addition to that, when I try to repair the connection, I can't because I get the error "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Renewing your IP address" , so I'm unable to renew my IP too.

My ipconfig/all shows funky information too, with the dns servers and everything -ipconfig shown at bottom.

So far, I have tried a few things but have failed at fixing my internet connection. I have these methods already:

Answer:Slow Internet Browser/Random Disconnects/Question Marks in Ipconfig

Make sure you have the latest driver for your ethernet adapter. If you already have the latest use Device Manager to uninstall it; reboot and let Windows discover the adapter and reinstall it.

Then do the stack/WINSOCK repairs again.

(From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2 or SP3.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Hello,

Hello

My problems started a few days ago when i noticed a fake anti spyware scanner called security tool. I booted into safe mode and used malwarebytes, spybot and norton to remove it. It was very persistent, so i downloaded lots of anti spyware programs like adaware, spysweeper and so on. Finally i used a tool called security master AV removal tool to kill virus processes before scanning with norton. At that point it found alot of virusses/spyware and removed it succesfully.

Since then i noticed that my internet is slow and when i click on a google result it loads very very slow. Sometimes it gives a nginx error. Sometimes when i click on a result i get a different website.

I don't know what software can help me now at this point. So i searched for this problem with google and found this forum. I hope someone can help me fix this.

Thanks in advance.
Bart

edit : My norton endpoint security gave a warning today : http redirect detected. It blocked this redirect and i did a full scan yesterday. I seems it can't find the virus or spyware that's causing this.

Hi

This has been happening a lot recently, been experiencing a really slow internet browsing on both fire fox and interenet explorer 7 and whenever i'm using firefox it sometimes freezes than works again after a few secs, also having a hard time loading videos on youtube where videos stop loading. Was thinking maybe related to cpu and memory usage, checked windows task manager and see that sometimes have high memory usage like yesterday svchost.exe was running at around 60 000k, ran both spybot and ad-aware but only found cookies related nothing big.

So don't know if memory related problem or infected computer, would really appreciate for someone to have a look at my log and tell me the problem.

Hey, basically computer's been a bit slow and tried clearing some stuff and done other things, but still no luck, to make things worse internet's been a lot slow and when using either firefox and internet explorer. For example when going on youtube some videos would freeze in the middle and i would have to reload the page, and sometimes takes ages to load a page.

So here's my DDS log and hopefully the problem can be diagnosed, thank you.

Starting mid July my computer performannce suddenly slowed down drastically. Basically programs would either run smoothly but take longer to load things, or when I have more programs running they would begin to lag. Since then the computer has become slower, sometimes with extreme lagging, and even freezing, with only 2 programs open. When it first started to happen I tried the usual disk defrag, cleaning out  the cache, temp files, etc. but it's only gotten worst since.

Recently, in the last week I've been getting pop ups in my browser. One pop up seems to only happen when I'm on youtube. When I'm on a youtube page it would redirect me to (http://awesomemobi.com/Java_Update/CA/?dv1=BannerConnect%20B.V.). This happens at random moments, sometimes right after youtube loads, sometimes in the middle of watching a video. The frequency at which it happens seems random too. Sometimes I would have to try up to 5 times to view a video because it keeps redirecting me, but sometimes it won't happen at all throughout the day.

Another one is this (http://www.erasethatdebt.com/CA/V2/1a.asp?Network=63). This one opens in a new tab everytime and is completely random. It doesn't seem to happen when a specific site is open like the youtube one mentioned above.

Since the pop ups began I've scanned the computer with spybot, ad-aware and malwarebytes. Spybot came up with some positive results which I've deleted, but the pop ups still happen.

Not sure if this is a... Read more

Hello, my computer has started playing random internet audio, such as red bull ads, lysol ads, and tv show or something randomly, on and off. This occurs without any internet browsers open. Also, when trying to use an internet browser, microsoft internet explorer or firefox, I get redirected to sites other than the ones I entered.

I have downloaded and run CC Cleaner with no results. I have downloaded and run Super Anti Spyware which found and deleted two items. I have downloaded and installed De Fogger. I have downloaded and run Malwarebytes which found no infections, the log is attached. I downloaded and ran Combofix which does not run as explained on the site. It generated "catchme.log" file on the desktop which said the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\volsnap.sys added successfully. I downloaded and ran RootRepeal and MG Tools, the logs are attached.

None of these tools have had any affect on the above audio and redirect problems I am having above. I greatly appreciate any assistance.

Answer:Random Internet Audio & Hijacked Browser

Hello. Our next steps will be the below.

1. Go to TDSSKiller and Download TDSSKiller.zip to your Desktop

Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any subfolder of the Desktop.
Now double click the TDSSkiller.exe file to run it ( if using Vista or Windows 7 do not double click on it but rather, right click and select Run As Administrartor.
Allow the application to run and a window will open showing that it is TDSSkiller from Kaspersky
Click Start scan
It will run rather quickly and will notify you of whether anything is found or not.
Follow the instructions to delete/quarantine if asks you what to do when if finds something.
Whether an infection is found or not, a log file should be created on your C: drive ( or whatever drive you boot from) in the root folder named something like TDSSKiller.2.1.1_27.12.2009_14.17.04_log.txt which is based on the program version # and date and time run. Please attach this log to your next reply. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

2.
Download bootkit_remover.rar
Click the underlined DOWNLOAD text to download the file and save it to your Desktop.
You then need to extract the remover.exe file from the RAR using a program capable of extracing RAR compressed files. If you don't have an extraction program, you can use7-Zip
After extracing remover.exe to your Desktop, double click the remover.exe file to run the pro... Read more

No, as BHO stands for Browser Helper Objects, which are in reality plugins for your web browser.

Hello,

I've had this problem for a couple of weeks now and I can't seem to figure out what caused it or how to fix it. The computer in question is a Pentium 4 Prescot, it is on a domain and is configured the same as all other machines on the network (TCP/IP wise). It is powered on 24 hours a day and has been for a couple years now. This machine serves out a several webcams and is a host for my inbound RDC connection from work. It is very stable and has had no issues up until now. I formatted and re-installed the OS when I moved in here about 6 months ago. What is happening is this; at seemingly random times the machine will completely lose ping to all network resources. All network connectivity is lost but under network connections I still see "Internet Connection" showing "connected" (meaning the cable is still working). I have replaced the network cable, so that isn't it. I do not see any events logged when connectivity is lost or restored except for the system logging DCOM errors saying it cannot reach various network resources. When I go to the network connection and "repair" it, it usually comes back fine... a reboot also seems to solve the problem, but eventually, usually in a day or two, it will drop again. I think it may be a piece of malware running because someone was using my machine for a few days before this started happening and I think they may have gone to some unsafe websites. I've attached my logs below:

Hello all:

I got hit with a browser hijacker I think. I was being redirected to gethotresults.com. I think I have been able to remove that malware, but I am noticing now random audio ads play in the background, and my browser loads pages slowly (compared to a similar build Windows 7 PC that is not affected by any virus. Also, when shutting down the affected PC after attempting to identify/clean, I got an unexpected shutdown bluescreen. I have captured the text of this event if you need it. The affected PC is Windows 7 64-bit.

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the ... I am experiencing several problems: random audio ads and music play, internet script errors keep appearing and my browser redirects to other sites. For example if I Google "Bleeping Computer" and click on the first search result I am taken to a different site. I previously had the "Windows recovery" bug and got that fixed but this is still persisting.

I am new to this so if you need any more information just let me know. I have been leting my brother use my computer and he has been downloading things like crazy. I first notice problems with my browser( firefox beta 5 and Internet explorer7) slowing down. Then folders started showing up on my c drive with names like "bd73e9affe8b77aa2ff8a3deeadc" which I cannot delete. So I ran spy bot search and destroy which found about 25 different spyware on my computer which I was able to remove. I also ran kaspersky's online scan and it found several problems, however my norton antivirus which has its virus defintions updated has not found any problems. I am using Windows 7 with the latest version of Chrome.  The internet has become useless because of how slow it runs.  The pc in general has also slowed down and sometimes takes 2 or 3 minutes to open a word document or basic xl spreadsheet.  They had me run some things over in the Windows 7 forum but we reached the point they said i should come here.

Here is the DDS log

Answer:Browser runs slow with random redirects - laptop nearly useless

Hi there, judging from your log I'd say you infected your computer by trying to install a pirated version of Nitro Pro. Does that make sense? Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.(If you are not sure which version (32-/64-bit) applies to your system, download and try to start both of them as just the right one will run.)Start FRST with administator privileges.Make sure the option Addition.txt is checked and press the Scan button. When finished, FRST will produce two logs (FRST.txt and Addition.txt) in the same directory the tool was run from. Please copy and paste these logs in your next reply.

My computer is locking up as I type this and I dont know how to fix it. I've tried downloading the suggested Spyware and Scans but Ive had no success. Im not a computer whiz obviously, so I need some suggestions on how and where to fix this problem. I do believe that I have some sort of virus but I have no idea how to remove them. I'd appreciate any help I can get ! Thanks

Answer:Slow Slow Slow Browser, Applications Failing

How long has it been since Windows was installed? Have you done any regular file maintenance, like deleting old files you don't need anymore, deleting temp files, uninstalling programs you don't use anymore, deleting months-old system restore points, etc, and then running scandisk, and lastly, running defrag? Maybe it's not a virus. You may just be running out of room on your hdd.

Greetings,
I believe my son's laptop is infected with malware. It has the folllowing hardware:
Dell Studio 1555
Core 2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.2HGz
4 GB RAM (task Manager reports 47% in use)
64-bit OS
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1

The fan is constantly running to keep the laptop cool as if a power hungry program is running. He frequently complains of IE not responding. The laptop will also randomly not respond to the touchpad or hot keys. Lately random audio files (people talking) will play when the computer is ON but not in use.

Please help. In anticipation of your support I have downloaded toe following programs already:
Security Check
Combofix
aswMBR
tdsskiller
OTC

Regards,
Joe

Answer:Slow, frequent IE crashes, and random audio files play

Please...do not run any of the apps you have downloaded...unless instructed to do so by a BC Staff member.

For some odd reason, in the past 4 weeks, my streaming video has become VERY slow, and I do not know why. I have a high-speed cable connection, the same I have had for the past 6 months. It is slow, sound-with-stil-images and/or constantly rebuffering, and this is true with WIndows Media, Winamp, Realplayer and even Flash videos (on YouTube for example). I cannot take it anymore. I tried this Hijackthis thing, and this is my log:

So I was recently hit by a bunch of malware programs such as Cloud Securtiy and so on and so forth and was able to basically get rid of all of them on my own, thanks in large part to your guides, but recently my wife having seen an add on TV for Myfreecleanpc or w.e took it upon herself to go ahead and download this scam of a program, not knowing the effects it would have, thinking it was a regular malware i just went through the typical steps to remove it and was unsuccessful after many hours i finally managed to start it up. but now my Mbam Pro software keeps notifying me that ping.exe and scvhost.exe as well as firefox.exe are malicious programs and will block them. not only have i been unable to fix this problem yet i turn to you, as well as this problem everytime i open up my browser i get redirected to random sites trying to sell me stuff, much like the google redirected but without the google part again i have yet to find an answer to this so any help will be greatly appreciated. and as fars as gmer log i run Windows 7 x64 bit and your guide told me not to run it. so any more information i will be more than happy to give. Thank you

Hi. My Chrome browser has been loading new pages very slowly over the last few weeks. Two nights running now, it has started playing (seemingly) random audio snippets starting at 3:30 am. It keeps playing them until I close the browser. My wife has reported periods where the mouse has stopped responding.

I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium. I have access to a restore CD.

I have attached the other log files from GMER and DDS in attach.zip.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Running older PC Clone 2.0 Ghz Dual CPU Pentium, 1GB Ram Win XP Home Edition system.

While navigation on Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, system runs extrememly slow and/or crashes. When using applications such as Itunes, Email, or simply opening up Word and other applications, it runs very slow and almost seems to stop. The IE7 that was on the computer had changed to an operate with add-ons off as a result of the infection. I downloaded and reinstalled IE7 and this seems to have fixed that problem for the time being. MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpy icons dissappeared from my desktop. When trying to use them from the Start / Menu options the programs no longer worked. I reinstalled them and they appear to work fine now. However, the system still seems to run very slow over all and its performance is greatly hindered.

Next, I ran free version of SuperAntiSpyware and all it detected was a couple Adware cookies. Secondly, I ran free version of Malware Bytes Anti-Malware and it detected PUP.GamePlayLab infections located in the Registry Key: HKLM\SOFTGWARE\Microsoft\Windows.... These files were removed and quarantined by MWB. Thirdly, I ran Old Timer's TFC and then rebooted the computer and it appeared to run a little faster, but still sluggish while using IE7. So, finally, I ran ESET Free Online Scanner, and it detected "Win32/Toolbar.Babylon and Win32/TopMedia.a" virus infections. Scan took about 2 1/2 hours. I set it to search the drives/ar... Read more

My husband's laptop has been running really slowly lately especially when browsing. He uses Firefox when he is on while I and our daughters prefer IE when we use his computer. W don't seem to have as much trouble as he does but it stills runs slow.

Last night I had something disturbing happen -- when I was trying to go to facebook.com it kept going to a page warning that I was about to leave the website. Yet I hadn't actually gotten to the website yet. I was eventually able to get to facebook but that incident bothered me.

Here is a HJT log. Thank you in advance for your help.

Ok, so recently I looked at my task manager whilst my internet explorer was running and much to my suprise it was taking up between 50,000 and 70,000 kilobytes when im not even doing anything that requires said amount. Its so rediculous it can even go up to about 100,000. Now, what im wondering here is why this is happening. As far as I know There arent any viruses/spyware/malware on my computer so as of now Im completely baffled. If anyone here could give me any insight on this matter it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

Answer:Slow Internet Browser

As I understand it, 50-100 MB is not an unusual footprint for IE. I've also read that IE sometimes has problems releasing unused memory.

I'm not quite sure what exactly is wrong with my computer as I am the one who uses it the least within my household, but none the less i was asked to fix it. So, here goes. I was told that it runs quite slowly, it has random pop-ups lots, and the anti-virus that we have installed keeps popping up saying that there is a virus. I'm sorry that i can't explain more of the problem. I really hope someone can help me though. Thanks.

Answer:slow computer, random pop-ups, and anti-virus says i have a virus

Hi there. I'm writing on the tail end of a windowsfixdisk infection after surfing in places I shouldn't have been. I have windows xp pro with its firewall active, and I have Avira as my AV program, but these still let the program through. I've since been using the removal guide on this site to get rid of that damn program, and I was successful in removing it.

However, for the parts of the guide that suggested to run RKill and TDSSKiller before using Malwarebyte's, neither program would run the way the guide said they would (i.e., no black box with progress for RKill, and either no response at all from TDSSKiller regardless of how it's renamed, or an application error dialog saying "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the program" when I rename it to IExplore.exe or Explorer.exe). I decided to just go ahead and run Malwarebyte's anyway, and it seems like it and Avira tag-teamed the infection to remove it.

So, everything seemed to be fine, until I started to use my computer again. Then I noticed that I'd get random audio ads playing in the background, my google search results would get redirected when I clicked them, my browser and computer seem to be lagging, and I get these Internet Explorer script error dialog boxes popping up with different advertising-based URLs such as "http://couponswapper.com/video/player/cheap_chick/all/1/?utm_source=adon_113320_150752_21983&utm_med... I am hearing random windows selection noises as if you were clicking something in internet explorer and commercials for Lysol and similar products whether I am browsing the internet (I use Firefox) or playing a game.

I was trying to play an online game but I was getting minimized quite often.

I had recently installed Avast anti-virus and Online Armor firewall after this started happening just because I wanted to switch but, they seemed to slow my computer down so I got rid of them. My computer was taking a very long time to start up and after I uninstalled Online Armor, things were back to normal.

My computer has also been freezing.

I do have a Windows CD available.

I got the "File Recovery"-virus a couple of days ago. Got it removed and my files back to visible. But ever since, all my browsers are loading pages very slow.

Basically anything with images loads very slow, I see those placeholder x-images and each image renders one by one. It's not extremely slow, most parts are rendered in maybe 5-10 secs but longer pages keep loading thumbnails for maybe a minute. I can see the text in the bottom left corner switching from "Waiting for img.gfx.***.com" and switching back and forth for a long time.

Pages tend to hang when loading. Takes maybe 5-10 seconds before I can enter a google search for example.

IE, Chrome and Firefox, all the same :/

I've tested the following:
*Ran several anti-malware programs (of course never two at the same time)
*Made sure internet connection was not going by a proxy
*Ran a registry cleaner
*Manually went hunting for traces of the virus in both filesystem and registry after reading up on where it goes
*Uninstalled all browser plug-ins + java, re-installed all browsers, cleared all history and cache
*Reinstalled and updated networkdrivers
*Reset tcp/ip settings
*Ran bandwidthtest to see if my connection was up to speed, got 43 Mbit/s
*System restore 2wks back
*Killed processes one by one, started Windows clean

I'm studying to be a .NET Developer and I got the computer through my school so I don't have access to any backupdiscs to re-install Windows 7, feels like it might be my only out b... Read more

Hi,

I would suggest you to check the performance in “Safe mode with networking”.

You can even try creating a New User Account and check if the issue persists in a new User Account or not? To create a new User Account in Windows 7, you can refer to the URL mentioned: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Create-a-user-account

I am running Win7 Home , 16G ram, i7
I constantly maintain (or try to) maintin a clean system, using crapcleaner daily and various AVs (Avira) and MalewareBytes.

However, recently, all of my browsers run extremely slow on page loading (well, a few seconds on the blue circle).. sometimes freezing a minute or two and/or never loading destination page. I use Waterfox 43.04 and explorer 11.09. I have also tested waterfox with addons disabled .. and same problem.

Everything appears clean though, and the only recent software I have been running that is new is Netgear USB control center.

I hope someone can walk me through a more thorough inspection to try to solve this.

edit: small new piece of information. IE did not close manually; had to use task mgr.Edit: Moved topic from Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

It has started playing seemingly random audio files, adverts, news articles, bursts of music, even when IE is not open and when browsing the web it has become painfully slow, sometimes cannot find websites or redirects to sites not requested.

I'm hoping this is a common problem. I'm running Windows XP on an HP Pavilion 6000. On my mozilla browser, I can google something and it will go to a website that is not one I choose. I click back and click the same site and then I can go where I intended. Im wondering how compromised I am.

Answer:Internet browser speed to slow

if your using windows xp 256 of ram is not enough at least 512 minimum is required to run the pc efficiently lookin "windows task manager" check performance tab and see what the pc is using, check pf usage and physical memory available

Hi guys,

I have a problem with accessing the internet. I have a 4MBit/s broadband connection, which I have tested and it is exactly 4 MBit/s. When I open up any browser (Opera, IE or Winfox/Firefox) it takes about 5 seconds for the google homepage to appear. This seems too slow to me, but maybe you know better? Other pages take much longer..20 seconds for a normal webpage.

Hope you can help

Cheers,

Jonny

Johnny You have 4mb down but probably only 500K up. You can go to anyofthe commercial services and have that checked. I use speedtest.net. They will tell you actual. I suspect the delay may have more to do with your system than the connection

Hi
My internet browser has started to run extremely slow, even to the point of not working at all.

I know it’s not the connection as other computers work fine through the same router. I’ve downloaded and scanned for all virus, adaware and spyware.

I’ve read many threads but with no joy, I’ve attached my HJT file for reference. I’d really appreciate any help

Cheers

Hello Majorgeeks,

My web browser, specifically Mozilla is running very slowly. Either my internet is either slow (not sure of this as my wifi works super fast on my phone) or my web browser is consuming too many resources but it seems almost impossible for a page to load. I have had these problems on and off for the last 2 months. When I ran the read and run me about 1 month ago the problem seemed resolved only to return a couple of days ago. I have uploaded all files except TDsskiller. When trying to upload I get a message that the file is empty.

Thank you for your help.

Jay

Uninstall the below programs. If you do not find them or they will not uninstall, just keep going.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of the code box

Answer:Internet browser very slow and corrupted

It sounds like you got a serious infection or two. I strongly advise going to our Virus and Malware removal forum and read the Updated 8 Step sticky.

Follow it step by step as given and when you are finished post on that forum with the three required logs attached.

I use Opera as an Internet browser. lately I been experienced very slow browsing, too slow almost none of the pages can be open. I am using Windows XP SP2, 1.25G ram. I thought it was opera, but then I use IE and even Opera and they all are very very slow I get frustrated . I can receive mail with my normal speed and even share files or use the messenger without any speed problems its only in the Internet browser. Sometimes I have to reset my computer to have my normal speed in the Internet browser, sometimes, that even doesn't work. AVG 8.0 and doesnt detect anything.

Answer:[SOLVED] Internet Browser VERY SLOW (all of them)

Try doing a general clean of your system's temp files using CCleaner:
http://www.ccleaner.com/

Then run Chkdsk, followed by a disk defrag.

Could also be spyware etc causing slowdowns for your browser(s)..
Try following the steps on this page to remove them..

Welcome to the BleepingComputer Forums. Since it has been a few days since you scanned your computer with HijackThis, we will need a new HijackThis log. If you have not already downloaded Random's System Information Tool (RSIT), please download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random which includes a HijackThis log and save it to your desktop. If you have RSIT already on your computer, please run it again. Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT. Click Continue at the disclaimer screen. Please post the contents of log.txt. Thank you for your patience. Please see Preparation Guide for use before posting about your potential Malware problem. If you have already posted this log at another forum or if you decide to seek help at another forum, please let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and taking the time of two volunteer helpers means that someone else may not be helped. Please post your HijackThis log as a reply to this thread and not as an attachment. I am always leery of opening attachments so I always request that HijackThis logs are to be posted as a reply to the thread. I do not think that you are attaching anything scary but others may do so. While we are working on your HijackThis log, please: Reply to this thread; do not start another! Hey guys,
I'm signing in on from my university's 802.1x secured LAN connection. When I'm using my browser to download my download speed is around 200 kBps but when I'm using any other program (uTorrent with high seeder count, Steam etc.) it doesn't get past 40 kBps. Can you please tell me why? This one is though to work around.

Answer:Why is my internet connection slow on anything but the browser?

Not sure. I know there is ways for the university to give priority to certain times of things and also limit the speed for each one of those. Usually, video is given a pretty high priority and not a low priority. I would check with the university to make sure they have no limitations or anything like that. At least, that's what I think.

So the PC I'm using right now is running on WinXP SP2 (I know, it's pathetic), has an Intel Pentium 4 2.6GHz processor, a 512MB RAM, and an Intel 82865G Graphics card.

Lately this week I've been having problems with all the browsers available in this PC. At times, it takes ages to load a single page. Sometimes, though, it runs just normally. Although I'm pretty sure that it's not my internet connection since all the online games & p2p applications I have in this are running normally and I'm not having any speed issues with them.

I've tried running CCleaner, defragmented all my drives, manually cleared cache and cookies on all browsers, scanned for viruses (ESET Nod32 2011) and fixed a couple registry issues using Registry Mechanic.

Help?

Hello

I have recently gotten a really bad virus(malware) and I use AVIRA and it keep detecting them and does an auto scan more each virus detected which slows my computer down. I have been trying to fix the problem for a few days but I am not sure but it seems a little more difficult than the pinned virus removal topics. Recently I thought AVIRA may been able to remove them, but my computer restarted after the scan to remove the files, and upon restart it started a rescan and has been sitting a 15.4% for 5 hours and is now not responding

My HP netbook system is Windows XP Serv Pack 3 and I use AVIRA to protect my computer.

I have recently done a system restore about 3 weeks ago and it fixed a super slow issue it was having at the time and now it appears to have another slowed issue again. The only restore point I have left is the original one from when I first got my computer about a year ago. I am a little hesitant to use it.

I think I need some help to fix this annoying issue, please.

Thank you in advance

Something is wrong with my computer. In addition to slow start up, it has recently shut down with a blue screen flashing for a nanosecond. On top of this, my Verizon Internet Security keeps referring to a virus it has found, that requires restart for removal, but this same virus has been located at least 3 or 4 seperate times (Trojan Agent something of another). On November 18, it said it detected "Trojan-Clicker.WMA.Agent.d."

I have run several virus scans, spyware scans, Malwarebytes scans and nothing has remedied my sick laptop... Please help

My internet is running very slow. At times when I choose a link a random link with a different address pops up but is blocked off. One appeared called Ssl.gstatic.com, fls.doubleclick.net and vesteddigital.com. I have pop up blocker on and from time to time the CPU usage on the windows task manager jumps from 10% to 90%. I don't know why it's slowing down so much or if it has some sort of bug. I scanned it with malware on safe mode and it found 3 items. I quarantined them and it still is slow. Also I have to continuously press F8 when I turn my CPU on for my TV screen to register. This didn't happen before. Is there a way to fix these issues? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:Random pop ups and internet explore running slow

Hi and welcome to TSG.

The General Security forum is only for general questions regarding security software and things of that nature but not for actually removing malware as we have qualified helpers who are the only members who are authorized to assist with those matters. You can easily identify them as they have either a gold or blue shield beside their usernames. Please refer to this excerpt from the rules:

http://www.techguy.org/rules.html

Log Analysis/Malware Removal - In order to ensure that advice given to users is consistent and of the highest quality, those who wish to assist with security related matters must first graduate from one of the malware boot camp training universities or be approved by the administration as already being qualified. Those authorized to help with malware issues have a gold shield next to their name and authorized malware removal trainees have a blue shield next to their names. If you'd like to participate in a training program, please contact a Moderator or see this article.Click to expand...

I'm going to close this thread and ask you to repost in the Malware Removal & HijackThis Logs forum for the proper assistance.

Whenever I search something up it takes a long time, and when I click on a link, sometimes it brings me to a new link about women's health, pregnancy, nutrition, etc. I might have clicked on a bad link or downloaded something, I'm not very sure. Answer:Computer slow.. Browsing pretty slow.. browser loads lagging.. help me pls

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding. Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one. If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem. Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me. Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed. Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Hiya... new kid on the block here. I'm suddenly experiencing multiple problems. My yahoo messenger was hijacked yesterday, I received a server certificate error today that claims someone may be eavesdropping on me, the comp is getting slower and slower, and the startup and shut down is getting longer and longer. This is a used laptop that I received with issues to begin with. I thought the issues were resolved, but instead, they keep getting worse. I'm not familiar with HJT, and don't know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! ~Jesica

The puter is an HP Compaq 6730s
Running Vista Home Basic SP2, Build 6002
I'm using Trend Micro Internet Security Pro
I normally use Opera, but also have Firefox and IE

The error I received in Opera today reads in part: "The server's certificate did not match it's hostname. Accept?" The security tab says "The server's name does not match the certificate's name. (webpage and server info) Somebody may be trying to eavesdrop on you."

My computer has been running very slowly for the past little while, and the internet browser has froze a few times. Occasionally we'll get floods of pop-ups, but that hasn't happened for the past few weeks.

Also, I've noticed that in the Task Manager is a process called explorer.exe that has a high memoery usage... I read somewhere that it's potentially dangerous.

And another thing, when I log into my computer I get these start-up window's that are called something like WINDOWS/system32/command.com (or something like that). They are only there for a few seconds and there are about 6 of them. I should also mention that I'm pretty computer illiterate...

I'd appreciate any advice! THANK YOU!

Answer:Help! Slow Computer, Slow Internet. Slow, Slow, Slow!

Hi MaryJane,Sorry for the delay, this forum is really swamped right now. I don't see any positive signs of malware in your log, although there is one thing that I am unsure about. I'll get to that in a minute. Before we do rootkit scans and use some other tools to confirm that malware is not the problem, let's do a quick check of resources.Press <Ctrl>-<Alt>-<Del> to open Task Manager, then click on the Processes tab. Place a check next to Show processes from all users. Note the numbers at the bottom, CPU usage should be running at 0 to no more than five percent if your system is idle (no background tasks running). If that is not the case, scroll down and see if any of the processes is running at a high percentage of CPU usage. On a normal system at idle the System Idle Process should show about 98 percent, meaning nothing else is using the CPU. The next columns to the right, memory usage and peak memory usage, may also show something out of line if one process is using a large amount of memory. If you see anything showing high CPU usage or high Memory usage, make a note of it.Now, click the Performance tab. The key numbers here are in the Commit Charge box -- The Total and Peak figures; and in the Physical Memory box, the Total figure. Make a note of these three numbers. I would like to see them, but I can tell you what I'm looking for: basically, any time the Commit Charge exceeds the total physical memory, Windows will have to constantly swap d... Read more

I don't quite know what you need to know about my system, but here are a few aspects:
dell studio 1375
intel core 2 duo
windows vista

*excuse my lack of knowledge regarding computer systenms and technology

I've had my computer for a year and a half now with no major problems to date. However, in the past week, my computer has been acting up.
Any audio/video file (itunes, windows media, youtube, etc.) will play a few seconds then skip terribly for a few more and repeat --I cannot listen to any music or play any videos without this problem.
When I'm moving my mouse from one place on the screen to another, the mouse continuously catches -it will move normally, then stop for a second or two and jump to catch up, it is as if it's skipping too.
In addition to this, my internet is slower than usual. I am using Internet Explorer 8. Perhaps my internet might be slower because I've haven't downloaded IE 9 yet, but i doubt that would affect all audio and my mouse as well.

Any ideas as to the cause of all this and a possible solution? thanks so much

Answer:Slow internet/ skipping audio

Boot off of the Vista DVD in and choose Fix My Computer. If this still fails, go to Start/Search and type CMD and press enter. in the command prompt type Chkdsk /R and press enter. Now type a Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk utility will run at next boot up.

Hi,
a few weeks ago, my desktop computer, which remains off 5 days a week randomly, started to show extremely slow speeds in browsers. On both Chrome and Firefox, pages will take minutes to load and when it does load, the page is stripped to bare text and maybe some pictures. Any other program which connects to the internet, such as online games and MSN are fine and have no problems. I've tried clearing cache, restarting, and scanning for spyware with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and although it found some spyware and trojans, it was nothing new as my desktop had already been long infected. Is there anything else I should try? Should I just post a HJT log anyways?
Thanks

Answer:Internet browser speed slow, everything else fine

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Limewire and P2P is definitely a source of your problems!

Add remove programs and remove – LimeWire and P2P Networking and DeskAd Service if present

Get these

SpywareBlaster 3.2 http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
AdAware SE 1.05 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
SpyBot S&D 1.3 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

DL them (they are free), install them, check each for their
definition updates and then run AdAware and Spybot, fixing anything
they say.

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
In SpyBot - After an update run immunize
Print this and boot to safe mode

Hi,
I need help solving a problem with my computer. My browser, (IE, Firefox, Chrome doesn't seem to matter which I use), keeps redirecting me to advertiser websites and other search engines. Other times, it will not connect to a website, but just keep trying to load forever. I use MSE and I keep getting the following malware detections: Trojan:Win32/Sirefef.AH and Trojan:Win32/Sirefef.AC. MSE removes the offending item, but a few minutes later it is detected again and cleaned. This happens every 10-20 minutes. Below is the output of SysInfo, HiJackThis, DDS, and GMER. The "Attach.txt" file is attached below as well. I ran these in Safe Mode, and MSE did not detect any malware while in Safe Mode. I hope that I have included all the information correctly. Please let me know if any more info is needed.

I'd appreciate any help with this, and thanks very much in advance.
Jase

Will someone please come forward and help me? Recently internet desktop icons open very slowly. Favorites icons very slow.

I have aol. The aol is the default. I would like internet explorer to be the default but the button for setting the default is inactive (tools, internet options, programs).

When aol V.9 does comes up, only infrequently, everything within aol v.9 works fast, normally.

Advice on what I can do to speed things up re: my . I am an intermediate so please be specific. Thank you.

Answer:Default browser problems? Internet very slow.

If you want to do a cleanup for free:

Download and install CCleaner
Download and install RegScubXP
Download and install SpyBot Search & Destroy

Open CCleaner, check all cleaning options, run the cleanup, go to tools in CCleaner, do the registry scan and fix all problems. Visit the startup section in CCleaner and uncheck any programs that don't need to be preloaded (examples include Java Update Scheduler and Adobe Reader Fast Start)

Also, why don't you take the time to uninstall any programs you don't use anymore. Be sure to only uninstall programs that you reconise and not programs that your hardware depend on.

Open RegScrubXP to pick up where CCleaner's registry cleaner left off.

Open SpyBot Search & Destroy, use the update feature, immunize your system and do a scan. Even on a computer you completely trust to be spyware free, you may be surprised with SpyBot. Please not that if you use Ad Aware, SpyBot will complain. Use one or the other as you wish, they both do a fine job. I like SpyBot for its free protection feature and it's notion of preventing infections before they occur with its immunization feature.

These are free!

If you are unsure about your startup programs, Google each program's exe name. (example VPTRAY.EXE = Symantic Virus Protection Related)

Some programs don't like to uninstall cleanly. Usually spyware falls under this category. If you do figure out where it's binary (.exe .ocx .dll) is located, and you can't delete it, in... Read more
