Uploading photos from a SD memory card into Photo Gallery scrambles order of photos

Question: Uploading photos from a SD memory card into Photo Gallery scrambles order of photos

I have Vista Home Premium with Microsoft Photo Gallery on my Dell Inspriron 1721 laptop. I?m using a machine to transfer slides to a SD card then uploading them to Photo Gallery. Photos transfer Ok except the order of the photo gets scrambled somehow during upload. In other words, the photos on the SD card are in chronologically order but after uploading, when I view them in Photo Galley, the order is all mixed up. I know you can manual move them around but it?s hard to be sure of the original order and it is very time consuming when you have hundreds of photos. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix them. FYI I would call myself a novice user of Photo Gallery.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Uploading photos from a SD memory card into Photo Gallery scrambles order of photos

Will the Photo Gallery sort by name? You could prefix the photo names with numerical sequence. A utility like
Introduction - Bulk Rename Utility will do it easily. It's free.

Edit: if that looks too busy, the multi-renamer in FreeCommander is a bit simpler to use. [c] before the name prepends a number starting at what you select and incrementing by what you choose. Just press F2 when in the folder.

It's annoying to discover what looks like duplicate photo side by side in Photo Gallery. My understanding is that these are just thumbnails of the actual photo file which is stored elsewhere. However, when I've tried to delete one I've deleted the file itself. Question:

Why is this happening? Is it because I've saved the photo to another folder or application and so Photo Gallery displays it twice?

How do you know which thumbnail is linked to the actual file (maybe both are)?

How to avoid or better to just not worry about it?

Answer:Duplicate photos in Photo Gallery

Hello, right click and check out its properties .

The new Photos app in Windows 10 (while allowing a variety of editing functions), does not allow me to add a caption, i.e., update the Title attribute of a JPEG file. The old Windows Photo Gallery in Windows 7 was very useful in this regard, since I could update a number of the metadata (EXIF) fields.

How can I do this in Windows 10? Has Microsoft just removed this feature? Seems a retrogade step.

Thanks.

I have changed the Date Taken field in Windows Photo Gallery but the photos will not sort - it seems that the Date Creation date maybe dictating the order - any ideas how to change the date so that the sort can be made to create the oldest date to the latest date?

I have a L950XL Dual-SIM that I was thrilled to get when it first hit the market. Loved the fact that I can now use a 200GB microSD card in it. I take a lot of photographs and love my camera. However, I swap my photos from my phone to my PC quite frequently. This is where my problem becomes apparent. If I load photos on the microSD card, either loaded through phone with microSD inside or on microSD card through PC, the photos app starts creating thumbnails for photos but using large amount of memory on the microSD card. 8GB of photo file (*.jpg) will use up an additional 15GBs. In the storage selection under settings, the microSD card shows 8GB under photos but 15GB under System & reserved (this is not including the amount that is already being used for the phone. At this point, if I were to remove the microSD card out of the phone, the memory usage under System & reserved will then decrease back to its original usage of 3GB or less. Through a little hunting and searching, I found that the phone creates a folder where it saves duplicates of the same thumbnails under separate sub-folders. If I were to load 16GB of photos in 32GB microSD card, the photos app cannot create thumbnails for all photo files. This issue is not present in an Android phone. I really do not want to abandon Windows 10 Mobile. Has anyone else noticed this?

Answer:Why is photos apps using up more memory on microSD card than the photo files themselves?

However, what I want to know is how to upload the descriptions I already have on Corel Photo Album 6, along with the photo, to Photobucket. I have almost 200 photos that I've already typed in descriptions for and I don't want to have to redo that. Is this possible?

I have a home network with Vista 32bit Home Basic on both the desktop and laptop. In the past week, I am experiencing a problem with not being able to view recently uploaded photos on the laptop. The photos are showing on the desktop which is directly connected to the Kodak camera dock. When I am on my laptop and try to access the newly uploaded photos, they just aren't there. This problem started in March. All the previously uploaded photos are visible on the laptop. I also am not seeing the April folder I just created today when I uploaded a few pictures. I am very frustrated with this problem as I work from my laptop and often need to access photos and scans. Now I have to do all my work from the desktop since it is the only computer which can see the pictures and scans. Please help.

I store and view pictures on my computer with "Windows Live Photo Gallery" (WLFG) and do email with "Outlook", which is selected as my email program of choice. In fact, I don't have any other email programs on my machine.

If I select pictures from my files, there is a button on WLFG which says "email". When you press it, a window comes up headed "Preparing files" and you then chose the file size and press "attach", when the file/s are supposedly attached to a new email ready for sending. This is what I gather from the help file. However, the new email is nowhere to be found. I have searched for it in Outlook, and in WLFG, but it seems it has never been created.

Any ideas?

I have had a problem with my Gateway NV73 laptop where I would get a BSOD whenever I was viewing video on the internet, viewing pictures in my photo editing program and now after about 5 minutes of just using the internet. The BSOD would come up in a square in the center of the screen and dissappear within seconds. Then the system would still show the power light as on but a blank screen and unresponsive. I would press and hold power button until shutdown and try to restart but only the fan sound was working but nothing else. And after about 30 to 40 minutes later it would boot up just fine, but would then crash after minutes of using it. I tried to get the info needed from the dump files but I literally had to do the whole process stated above many times and I saved the minidump files to my network drive so I could post this on my desktop computer. Please help, I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.

Gateway Laptop Model NV73
AMD processor
3GB Ram
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM
Laptop is about 17 months old

Answer:BSOD w/ viewing photos w/ Windows Live Photo Gallery error 0x0000001e

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

When I upload my photos from my camera SD card I open them via Windows photo viewer and usually delete several of the worse ones. Originally I noticed a few photos I liked had disappeared shortly after that and thought i must have deleted them by accident. Then I noticed after I purposely kept several photos I really liked, they had disappeared. Most recently I uploaded about twenty photos, kept ten and deleted ten and when I closed Windows photo viewer all of the photos had disappeared. In the recycle bin there were the photos I had deliberately deleted but not the ones that had disappeared. I cannot find these photos anywhere, very annoying! Has anyone had this problem or can anyone help?

I really love the The new windows 8 interface. I would like to be able perform all or most all of my tasks from the new UI. When performing this function you have to keep toggling back between both screens.
Do,you experts foresee that eventually all tasks can be formed form the new W8 start screen?

Hi there.

My mum is having a problem with her photo memory card. Apparently it has always worked by just "plugging it in, and then a box comes up asking me if I would like to import the pictures? I say yes please, and then something else happens and I can see them."

Through lots of pointing and asking questions, I've found out the the second "something" is Windows Photo Gallery. However, today she plugged the same memory card into the computer and got a box saying "d: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel."

I don't know much about Vista (still an XP man), but this is stressing her out because she doesn't understand why it's stopped working all of a sudden. I've tried to change the auto play settings, but the only thing I can make it do is open the pictures - no mention of automatically importing the pictures. My mum as sure (quite vocally, in fact) that it used to ask to import straight away.

Any thoughts?

My brother needs me to send him pictures from his SD card with my phone. The issue is, when I put the SD card in the phone, the pictures rarely show up (if ever). It usually is a process of turning the phone on and off again, removing the memory card a billion times, etc.
When I go to photos, as said nothing shows up but the pictures that are already on my phone. When I go to "storage sense" to look at the memory card, the data which is taken up by the photos doesn't fall under the "photos" category, it falls under "other" which the phone describes as unrecognized content...
How can this be fixed? I already reset my phone, it didn't work.

Answer:On my WP 8.1 Lumia 520, why aren't photos on my SD card showing in photos app?

Is the SD card from another WP or from a camera?
If it's from another WP then make sure your phone is set to read from SD card in Storage Sense.
If it's from a camera or other device, that will be the issue. With WP can't read a SD card from another device.

Does the card appear in Disk Management? If it does, try partitioning and formatting it with HP USB Disk Format Tool.

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo laptop but when I put my memory card from my digital camera in the slot nothing happens. I have never used this slot before. What can be the problem?Yours hopefully,Moira Lindsay.

Answer:memory card wont show photos

1 -- It is not imperative that something "happens" when you insert media. Assuming that this slot has a "permanent" drive letter, just "explore" that drive; I suspect the photo files will be there, (perhaps in a folder}. 2 -- If not, then the card may not be seated properly (or too much accumulated dust/dirt may prevent a proper connection).

Some of you may be familiar with the Kodak Easyshare Gallery website. Its a website for storing and ordering photo's. Anyway I recently ran into a problem that makes the option to upload multiple photo's at once not functional. I have contacted thier tech support but thier suggestions have yet to help. They suggested I do the following:

1. Start Internet Explorer, go to the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options"
2. Under "Temporary Internet Files", click "Settings"
3. Click "View Objects"
4. Right-click the object called "Ofoto Upload Manager Class" and choose "Remove". If there is also an object called "EASYSHARE Gallery Upload Manager Class", right-click this object and choose "Remove".
5. When it asks to confirm, click "Yes".
6. Close all property windows that were opened.

The problem is once I remove the file and refresh the folder the file just mysteriously re-appears so I can't get rid of it and the problem is not resolved. The file is some kind upload activeX file which they say is the problem so I need to remove it and once I attempt to upload multiple photo's again the problem should be solved but I can't get rid of the file. I've cleared the cache, temporary internet files, cookies, etc and still I can't get rid of the file. I've even booted into safe mode and tried it but that didn't work either.

I do custom cars (Hot Wheels) and was trying to upload a pic to my online photo album...I have several of them but the inportant part of the statement; is it would not load...on any of the Photo albums...and I tried to sent a pic to a friend of mine on Yahoo; and he eas not alble to see it...so It even is NOT working on Yahoo, either...
Hope someone can help me...and this will probably be the start of a lot of questions...lol
Thanks in advance

Question: Uploading photos

I now have an iPhone 6s, upgraded from the 4s.My HP now wont pull up my phone when plugged in by USB to upload photos off my phone to the computer, like I have always done before.  iTunes wont connect beause it is saying my device gave an invalid response.  Yet, when plugged in, it makes the sound that it has connected, I push Trust computer but nothing is happening.  I have several hundred pictures I need to upload before Christmas or I will not have any space on my phone.  This has always been a simple task.  Plug up my phone, go to Computer, click on the iPhone icon and I was able to copy and place photos where I wanted.  Now, it isnt working.  PLEASE HELP!

Hi all,
So I upgraded my Surface Pro 3 to Windows 10 last night and so far quite impressed. However it looks like an issue has carried over from Windows 8.1 to 10.
I'm finding that the Photos app cannot see the photos stored on my SD card. I have directed the library to point to the SD card and it is the only location defined in the Library for Photos. This was a problem in 8.1 but as I never used the app I stopped worrying about trying to sort it. However I can see myself using the app in 10, so would like to figure out what is happening.
It's not a case of the app not showing duplicates because I temporarily disabled the option for it to show OneDrive photos and now nothing shows. Has anyone else had this issue?

Answer:Photos app not finding photos on SD card

My Photos App will not show any pictures. All I get is a black screen with that mountain logo in the center. I am a Windows Insider and have had Windows 10 for a while now. It used to work, but after the last update it stopped working.

Hey Iam just wondering is there a way to change hows photo gallery opens folder, what I mean is right now when I open a pic up and hit next instead of opening the next pic to the left or right it opens the one under it.

its annoying because I want to view the pictures in the order I took them.

Answer:Windows photo Gallery open order

Hi

Not that I've ever heard of, but you CAN change the order in which your pictures show in the folder...
If you say "The Order I took them", then they should have a "Created on" date and you can sort them by that. Play with some of the "Sort by" and "Group by" settings, and/or the "Date Taken" one, or another option is to add Tags to the photos and then you can sort them as you please according to how you tag them.

I bought a 512 MB Sandisk memory card for my Kodak EasyShare CX7330 digital camera before I went to London. I also brought a 64 MB card with me. I filled both cards, then transferred photos from each onto 2-3 different Dell computers running Windows in a lab overseas. Saved and emailed pictures successfully.

THEN I returned home and successfully transferred pictures from the 64 MB card onto my iMac running Mac OS 10.2.8, but neither that computer nor my friend's Windows PC will recognize the 512 MB card! A guy at Best Buy told me it may be due to a European software format change, but the 64 MB card is fine...so I don't think that is the case.

I can still look through photos on my camera's viewer, or hook it up to the TV and see them that way. But does anyone know of ANY WAY I can save 600+ pictures on ANY computer?? Has the card been corrupted?

Answer:photos on 512MB sandisk memory card WON'T TRANSFER

In Gallery, some of my photos don't fill the viewing frame. They can be enlarged by both Zoom and right-click "Re-size" but both fixes are only good for one viewing, not permanent. Without resorting to Paint or other external equipment, is there a way to get a permanent enlargement in Gallery?

Answer:re-sizing photos in Windows Gallery

Re-size saves in the same folder with the size appended to the file name.
Zoom is not re-sizing but zooming in to the image so the proportions fill the frame. You's have to crop and change the proportions to fill the frame.

Please tell me there is a way to upload photos into folders (that I label) straight from my sd card. On my old computer the option to review, organize and group would pop up when I inserted the SD card. I would click that and all the photos on the SD card would be grouped by date with option to name each group and checkmark which groups to upload to my computer. This made organizing my photos easy. On my new HP pavilion All-in-one, it simply uploaded all the photos at once and then there was the option to manually go in a checkmark one photo at a time to add to folders of a specific date. That is ridiculously time consuming!! Plus when I have multiple photo shoots on that day, I don't want them all grouped together on one day. Please help!

There's a number of ways to organize photos or files and there will be a number of opinions about it but one way I use is to first open File Manager then the Pictures Folder to create subFolders, name strictly up to the user. Then I open another instance of File Manager to the Memory card and simply drag the files into one of those Folders. Different camera brands store the pictures differently so you need to be familiar to how yours works. Most time inserting a Memory card or USB Thumb drive will pop up a panel asking how you want to open it, I always choose File Explorer. But then I learned file management back in DOS and Windows 3.xx days and floppy drives.

Hi.

I'm using Windows XP Media Edition.

For some reason I'm having trouble uploading photos . This happens when trying to upload to websites and when attempting to upload picture attachments to hotmail. My attempts to upload to my photo website results in getting "The Page Will Not Display" message or "upload Was Interrupted" message 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time the upload is successful. When attempting to upload on Hotmail, the window shows an animated uploading process, but no uploading actually takes place. This too has a 90% failure rate. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks very much.

I am totally confused by Windows 8 !!
Can someone please tell me simply how to display/upload photos from a disc ?
Thanks. Adrian.

Answer:Windows 8 uploading photos

Insert the disc in the drive. On the desktop if it doesn't auto run then click on file explorer (task bar bottom left) and double click on the DVD drive which should show the disc. Once opened you can select the 'view large thumbnails' bottom right corner, instead of list. Easier to know which to copy and paste to a destination folder.

Anyone out there have any help for me?

Answer:uploading photos to web with Windows 7

Hi LPaulson, welcome to 7F!

Some of your problem sounds like you may have a bad context menu handler, I was going to ask you if you could post a snip of your context menu, but you don't see the browse window you would need to post one.
Can you see "Save As", but it is "grayed out"?

Have you tried to see if this happens while in Safe Mode with Networking? Look under Here's How - Step #3 and 4 to get there.
I mention this mode because from your description it sounds like this problem occurs while online. I wouldn't think you would run into these problems while offline have you?

If the context menu works okay while in safe mode and you're online, I would suspect a newly added program that may have added menu items that are conflicting with other handlers on the menu.
Have you recently installed any image editors that may have added menu shortcuts to the menu?
This could also be a problem with add-ons or extensions to your browsers. Do you run a lot of them?
There is also the possibility that some of the pictures you are trying to save while online have a security code that won't allow the saving of pictures.

Some background on Context Handlers:
Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers

Hi All
At the moment my son is in the first week of backpacking around the world, he is in the USA at the moment and as you can imagine taking photos everwhere.
The problem is he can only use public pc's and they won't let him upload photo's to email so I can store them for him.
Does anyone have a workaround this problem or alternate suggestions, he is going for a year so we are desperate to solve this one.
Any help greatly appreciated

Answer:Solved: Uploading photos in the USA

Hi, He'd need a cell phone with camera with the option to upload, like described here:

http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/flickrhks/chapter/hack06.pdf

Flickr is a webspace that allows registered people to post photos, if the pics are public, they can be downloaded by anyone and saved on your computer, free of course.

http://www.flickr.com/get_the_most.gne

He will have to purchase different phones as he goes along the globe.....or, different services at least, many of them....might not be worth the cost, but I am not sure.

(Verizon just hasn't quite covered the whole Earth but they are working on it I bet!)

Give it a look. Here are some other ideas>

http://www.galttech.com/research/digital-photos/sharing-digital-photos.php

Here is the entire Google results: He might end up having to use a combination of methods, shipping memory cards at times, uploading when he can, using a cell phone when he can, or stopping by a place that offers email service for pictures.

http://www.google.com/search?source...GGLD:en&q=cell+phone+to+upload+pictures+email

He might be staying at hotels, or other lodgings, that also have Internet access, and can upload using that access. He could as well pack up the memory cards his camera uses, and ship them but he'd have to be careful they were packed right and were marked as film....though there may be even more special treatment available, by now there should be a special way to pack memory cards but I am not aware of it. Within the past month or so I cannot upload photos to Facebook or any of the pet adoption websites (I work for an animal shelter and this is important for me to do). I can attach to emails and put them on a flash drive, but they will not upload directly to a website. All they do when I click "upload" is keep thinking or loading for hours upon end if I don't cancel it. I never had an issue before and cannot figure out what is happening now.

I have used Firefox and IE to try to get them loaded. I have even tried loading them from a flash drive. Nothing I have done has helped at all. Any suggestions on what the problem could possibly be?

Answer:Problem uploading photos

I would first contact your broadband provider and ask them if there are any technical reasons at their end for the problem you have described, before looking elswhere for the cause.

hi

hopefully this wont be a bad post as i am a little useless when things do not work the way i hoped they should!

I used to beable to load photos onto kodak gallery before i got a new laptop with Vista home and student package 2007. Now when ever i try to load photos it will only do 2 or 3 and then an error message comes up to say the internet has failed connection and to please check the connection and try again.

When this comes up- usually my wireless has been stopped and i have to wait a while but i have just had a go again and could get straight back onto the internet. I also have probelms with facebook but can load one at a time.

I have mcafee security that has been put on computer but i think i have disabled that. I have also added kodack to safe addresses. There was a very old link on here with a lady experiencing the same trouble but with no answer.

I hope someone can help... i spilt water on my laptop last month and when it was fixed they wiped all my photos. I have lost the first 8 months of my little boys life in photos except those taken at hospital so want to get them into a safe place.

Thanks

In Windows Phone 10, There no improvement in Photos Gallery, Music and Videos
Previous Photo Gallery in WP 8.1 is much better than this, also plz add some more options in music and videos
Thanks
Sudhir

Answer:Why don't I have any improvement in Photos Gallery, Music and Videos?

WindowsCentral isn't Microsoft. Whatever feedback you provide here will most likely never reach anyone at Microsoft. Use the feedback app in Windows 10 for phones to do so.
That being said, WP 10 is far from being complete. Heck, it's even far from being a beta yet. Same applies to most - if not all - preinstalled apps like calendar, email, messaging and so forth. They are all alpha or early beta versions of what we can expect to be delivered with the public build.

Hello All. I have a Kodak Easyshare DX4530 camera and up until this morning I have had zero problems with it. I use a USB cable to connect to the camera and the photos transfer immediately. Today, however, I received an error message that read as follows: "Connected device cannot be found. Please connect the device and click the refresh button." I reconnected and received the same message. Is it possible that the problem exists solely with the USB cable? I've read some of the threads on this site and a card reader was suggested. Is this a better way to go? Should I forgo the purchase of a new USB cable? By the by, I have windows XP.
