I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

Two days ago I woke up to this problem, my icon pictures are gone and I can't access properties
when I right click anything. So, night before everything was fine, PC went to sleep mode, next morning i get up wake PC from sleep mode and the problem i mentioned was there. Some of the icons i used are custom and some default, so the problem is not in one of those 2 things, and since i cant access properties i figure it is some deeper issue than just icon's picture missing.

Here is the screenshot, i'll leave it like this here, too, because I am new here and not sure how attachment thing works
Hope you guys/girls can resolve this issue for me
Thanks in advance

I want to know how I can change folder settings for all new folders and files , before I even create the folder and do not know if this is even possible. I have attached a screen shot , look at the top where it says - size ,type , Date modified , picture taken , Dimensions,I want it , so that when ever I create a new folder that only the following is displayed !size and Date, is this possible and if so how ?In Vista this is even worse because on my friends pc it always displays the Ratings and this is stupid, we do not want to see ratings for each file !http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/...[URL=http://img169.imageshack.us/i/settingsfolder.jpg/][IMG]http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/8035/settingsfolder.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

Answer:Picture folder settings, How to change before

I don't know if this is what you want, but you can select how a folder displays in 'details' mode. Open Windows Explorer > View > Choose details. But it affects 'all' folders, not just new ones.

It turns out that if I download a picture file to the photo app in 8.1, without putting it in a particular pre-existing folder, the file goes into the general area of the app displayed alongside several other non-related pictures. Okay, no problem. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to then move a single image file into one of the pre-existing folders I had created at an earlier time. If your suggestion is to open both the folder and the picture file side by side on the screen and then click and drag, I have no idea how to do that. Is there no way to right-click the image and find a way to select "move to", or something along those lines; or is there a pull-down menu that I can't find with the app open that contains a command to "move to"?
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much,
Neil

Answer:How to move a picture file on 8.1 to a picture folder...

Well, you have many options. What you are looking for is this:

Context Menu - Add Copy To Folder and Move To Folder - Windows 7 Help Forums

But you can just copy the pics and paste them into the folder you like.

The side by side is easy too. Just open the source folder and press WIN + Right arrow. Then open the target folder and press WIN + left arrow, Now you can drag and drop from one folder to the other.

Hi there. I have a personal office 365. Which works only on one pc (we only used one) but I didn't thought of the complications whit multiple live id's. It my wifes live id, that are hooked up with the onedrive, so she stores all the pictures. I would like access to those through the pictures app, but I can only see it's possible to link to my onedrive account. I'm not interest in having them stored locally, since they take to much space.
Can I link her picture folder to my picture app?

Oh boy! More Windows 7 frustrations. Please help.

I have folders containing audio files (mostly audio books) with completely irrelvant and stupid pictures on them which I cannot change!!! There is no customisation tab on the properties menu like Vista.

I now have an audio book based on picking up women with a strange looking woman on it and an audio book on Atheism by Betrand Russell with a big, fat gospel singer on the front because Windows Media Player thinks that it is an album by a singer which it isn't! Even the files have the same incorrect picture which I am helpless to change.

This is so damn dumb! Why can't I change the picture on the front? Am I stuck with it?

Any ideas?

Answer:Cannot Change Folder or file picture/icons!!!

I prefer all folders to be "general" rather than content related - a "pictures" directory is a hinderance to my style of work. Sounds like your situation is similar...here is how I set the directories and folders.

> I use the tried and true OLD explorer view where you see the tree display on the left.

> I use the tried and true OLD explorer view to include the Menu bar.

> Select the desired folder from the left nav pane such as Desktop>Libraries>Pictures.

> Right click on the folder and select Properties.

> Click the Optimize this library for: drop list and select General Items.

> Click Apply then click OK.

> From the Menu bar click View>Choose details... and select (or deselect) items as desired.
I hope that at least gets you started.

GEWB

I'm using Windows XP Professional SP3. I was wondering if it's possible to change the folder icons for the "My Pictures, My Music, and My Video. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about:
http://i895.photobucket.com/albums/a...efaultTabs.jpg

I want to change some of the Tabs to show something else like "Authors", "Date Accessed" , etc.

I know you can Right-Click and select More to see the different Tabs accessible. If I select "Authors" it will show the tab "Authors".

However, when I open another folder it no longer shows that "Authors" tab.

So my question is how do I permanently save new Default Tabs like "Authors" to show on all Folders I open.

Thanks!

Answer:[PICTURE INCLUDED] How do you change the Default Tabs when you open a Folder?

Hi, you need to select views, then "details" and you have 267 different options when you right click and select "more". To keep those you choose select from the main menu "tools" then "folder options" under "view"you will see Folder Views select "Apply to Folders".

Hello,

I have tried to find an answer to this but cannot. Lately, I noticed my User Account Picture was not the picture I had selected. In addition, the Background Picture for my Windows 7 Home Premium edition log on screen was changed. This happened after running a program that is for exams at school which reboots your computer into a safe mode where the only program available is a rudimentary word processor.

I contacted the company that makes that software, Examsoft, and they told me how to get my default logon picture for my Windows Logon background back.

To address the User Account picture, I went into Control Panel > User Accounts and attempted to "change picture". This is not an option, however, for my administrator user account. It is an option for my guest account. I tried cloning my account without the bad .dat files, but that didn't work either as the new account I had created, also an administrator account, did not display a "change picture" option in control panel either.

I ran sfc /scannow, and it found no errors.

I am not sure what to do. Has anyone encountered this? Can you please help me?

Attached is a screen shot:

Thank You.

Hey everyone, i was using a tweak guide to help speed up my computer running Vista Ultimate 64bit.

I must have unchecked a box that turns off the display of picture properties as you hover the pointer over the picture. I don't even remember what it is called anymore so it makes it hard to find out where i must have unchecked it at.

When I go to "display properties" for my desktop, there is a list of pictures, some from Windows, and some that I have put on my desktop in the past.

Question: How do I remove a picture from the display properties box, so that it does not show as an option at all?

Thanks!

Answer:Removing Picture From Display Properties

Hello:

Thie pictures are the default windows .bmp wallpapers. They are in your C:\Windows folder or on W2K/Xp they should be in the C:\Winnt folder. If you want go there, create a folder called "oldwallpapers" (or any other name you want) and cut/paste the wallpapers into the folder. Now, what I do is move the wallpapers I want to use (customs ones) into the C:\Winnt (or Windows) folder. Now only your own favourite wallpapers will be on the list and easily loadable.

*WARNING!*

Move ONLY the .bmp wallpapers. If you accidently move a system file it may cause your Windows to give an error message, or to not work at all. Proceed at your own risk.

Pictures (this is showing the pictures on our server not my pc) This is the one I want to have changed back to the pictures on my pc.

Hope someone can help on this one as it has me completely at a loss, and pretty peed off!!!

ALL my JPG files, every photo on my hard-drive including 7years of birth to 7 year old have lost the Camera Information from the Properties file of every photo. In other words, no record of when the photo was taken. There are thousands of photos, so I did have them sorted by date for easy viewing, and I really don't want to manually re-enter the Photo Taken Date field!!!!

Any ideas?

Only recent changes to my computer and the installation of Trend Micro Internet Security and I've used Ccleaner to clean out rubbish.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:JPG Properties - Picture Date Deleted

In Windows Explorer or My Computer, View > “Choose Details”. Make sure “Date Created” is checked. Then View > Details to see if the dates are there.

If they aren’t the only thing I might suggest is to deactivate your security software to make sure it isn’t somehow interfering. I doubt that it would but you might as well try everything.

I’ve very much limited CCleaner’s scope in the few times I’ve used it, but a friend on suggestion from another friend ran it with everything checked and it didn’t interfere with his photo dates. I doubt that is what caused the problem.

When I complete a re-install of windows 8 I always redirect my personal folder locations to my second hard drive. That way I don't need to move files back and forth but now something happened in the process of setting my pictures folder location. There was no sign that anything was wrong but only a blank icon with no text and I'm unable to click on it. The redirect did not work and now there is a "dead" icon where my picture folder should have been.

Now I'm not talking about the library but personal folders under the user folders in C:\. I need someone to show me how to fix this in the registry because it is completely f'ed up for no reason.

There may have been a mistake made when moving the Videos folder. This should be able to help though.
Backup anything that you do not want to lose in the Videos folder to another location.Restore the default Videos folder location (Option Three).Delete all Videos folders including any at C:\Users\(user-name) and in the Start Menu.Type shell:My Video in the Start Menu search box and press enter.Restart the computer to apply. It may take a couple of times before you see the default Videos folder back. Now try to move the Videos folder to the other location again if you would still like to.Hope this helps,

I have found this BUG in Micrososft Word 2007, that I consider to be a SERIOUS ISSUE for Microsoft Office Suite.

If you copy an image from a website and paste in the Word file, the image pastes successfully the first time,
but as you go on & paste other images from the site,
the first image is repeated over and over again, in place of other images (which have the same dimensions).
All other text data remain same, the image titles remain same, but only the image is repeated over and over

PLZ SOMEONE...
HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?

MY MICROSOFT WORD 2007 Spec:
Microsoft? Office Word 2007 (12.0.4518.1014) MSO (12.0.6514.5000)
Part of Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007

Answer:Microsoft Office Word 2007 picture paste Bug *same picture is repeated

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I would not advise pasting images in doc files like that,
I would use ms Paint to paste or save picture as
I would really recommend using the windows snipping tool to get the images that way no bugs are being transferred to the machine or programs,
Then use the Insert image option in word...
It's just a safer way to do an operation,
Cheers.

Hi all,

Super bizarre.

So I woke up this mornind to login into my PC and see that my profile pic is changed back to the previous one. I have not any changes myself.

skype is linked to microsoft account. (skype had my old picture)

other option is that someone logged into my outlook and chaged profile picture then it got synced...

I cannot find any information on why or how picture would revert. ( even more so on a specific date )

any ideas or leads ?

Answer:login profile picture revert back to previous picture

Hello newbiew, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Since you Microsoft account is synced by default, then it most likely automatically changed back after syncing.

If you wanted to have the same user account picture for all devices, then changing it for everything should help.

If you only wanted to change it on this PC, then you could turn off syncing for Appearance under "Personalization settings" using the tutorial below.

this coding works fine for my index.html page where all my thumbnail pictures are.

When a user clicks on one of these thumbnail pictures, the picture loads the large version. But when the large picture is on screen, the user can right click on it.

How can I prevent the user from right clicking on the large picture (because that’s the one I need protecting really!)
ie.. how do i disable right clicking on this picure?

Answer:right click disabling on a picture

Make it, instead of loading the large version, open another HTML document with the JavaScript you posted above and then with an img tag with the large image.

Remember, though, there are still several ways to get the image, most of which you can't stop.

As a keen flickr member I have a lot of photographs on my computer. These are all neatly allocated to different files, depending upon a variety of variables. So far....all is well.

Yesterday my neighbour kindly upgraded me to Windows 10. Everything seemed fine.

Today I tried to take 4 photographs off my camera and load them up to my computer. Initially I got a dialogue box asking me what I would like to do in future when I plugged in my camera - I said "upload the pix to my computer".

Previously they have always arrived on my desktop in a separate file. I would then edit them, afterwards splitting them up into different files, depending on what I want to do with them.

Anyway, this morning, after taken 4 photographs, I plugged in my camera. I then get a message saying "We found 880 photos. Would you like to import them into your picture folder". And the only alternatives given were IMPORT or CANCEL.

Aggggggggh! I do NOT want all my pix jumbled together in a picture folder. I want them all neatly organised into the folders I have set up.

Is there any way I can get rid of this 'Picture folder' and go back to using my existing folders (they are all still there, and all still containing the photographs they should rightfully contain.)

I would be hugely grateful for some help.

Answer:Picture file trying to over-ride my existing picture files

What happens if you click Import? Does it give you the option to move them into a specific folder or does it just appear in the Pictures folder? Usually, you can just double-click the camera in This PC so that you can see its contents and you can copy over photographs that you want into the locations that you want them in.

We have an electronic picture frame which seems to always display pictures in the same order - there is no "random" picture display option.I would like to randomly organise the photos on the computer and then copy them across to the memory card. I can organise them alphabetically, by date, by size etc. but can anyone suggest an easy way to randomly organise them? Thanks in advanceDave

Answer:Random picture display on electronic picture frame

You could rename the files as a batch in a numerical or alphabetical order using some free soft ware. Google 'file renme software'

YouTube? Picture in Picture (Beta)

Users of this extension have also used
Watch YouTube? videos in the corner while browsing the site, just like in the mobile apps.
* Videos will continue to play in a picture-in-picture window when you navigate away from the page
* Re-open video page at any time without interruption
* Start videos in a picture-in-picture window with the right click menu

This extension is a proof-of-concept and is still in beta, with a few known bugs. Playlists don't work correctly, and sometimes videos don't load right. If something goes wrong, opening a new video usually fixes things. If not, try opening a new tab.

I have an HDMI cord running from my laptop to my desktop computer. I have the laptop outputting audio through the HDMI cord perfectly fine. However, my desktop will not relay the audio through the built-in speakers unless I have the HP Picture in Picture software open on the selected HDMI Input. I was wondering if there was a way I am able to bypass using the HP Picture in Picture software. The HDMI Inputs do not show up in the 'Sound' window through the Control Panel in either the Playback or Recording tabs. Thank you!- Bubbyfong

I'm doing some data recovery and have come across lots of duplicate pictures, also a lot of them are obviously broken. It started out as 250,000 pictures from practically the entire life of the hard drive,I've narrowed it down to 10,000 in 9GB of which there are still many broken pictures and duplicates making it almost impossible to browse on a normal hard drive so I can't give back to the user in this state,I'm currently browsing them on a fast SSD.

I'd like to remove all the duplicates by reading the actual picture information and not the files name which most do,I've tried a couple so far and none have found a single duplicate.

I've tried Duplifinder

I have searched for a solution to this and cannot 'see the wood for the trees'I Have XP pro and when I right click and choose the Save Picture As option I can ONLY save pictures as .bmp files. There is no other option. 99% of the time I can live with this as I can convert to j.peg using MS paint (although for some reason Irfanviw will not convert them).Does anyone have a fix for this. I obviously checked (or unchecked) a box during install and the situation is bugging me a bit. I cannot, for instance, save animated gifs.On a side note/related issue; I have Inccredimail both at home and work. At work I can save pictures to Incredimail and use them in my emails. That option is not available on right click at home. Thank you for your time.Martin.

Greetings!

I'm absolutely dumbstruck by what just happened. I was a little too quick with my clicking, and instead of opening the folder containing my pictures, I dragged it into another folder called "14941b93d3ad9f41aa7df524fe". I will refer to it as the folder of doom. The folder contains two sub-folders ('amd64' and 'i386'. The two folders both contain these files, though they have different size:
'filterpipelineprintproc.dll'
'msxpsdrv'
'msxpsinc.gpd'
'msxpsinc.ppd'
'mxdwdrv.dll'
'xpssvcs.dll')
I have previously done some googling on the folders and since they, apparently, weren't harmful, I decided not to do anything about them. After I put my picture-folder into the folder of doom I pressed ctrl+z and get the error message "Folder not available...No access"(screen shot). When I open the picture folder inside the folder of doom, I get the same error message. It also says that the folder contains 0 byte.

My question of course is if and how I can pull my pictures out of the abyss.

My computer is running Windows XP Home Edition (SP3). The harddrive in question does not contain the OS.

Answer:Solved: I moved my picture-folder into the folder of doom

This is something of an esoteric request. I recently bought a Dell 2405FPW, and hoped to use the PiP functionality to watch movies or DVDs from my desktop whilst playing World of Warcraft.

Unfortunately, Dell doesn't allow you to use Pip for this function, so I thought of replicating the effect with software. I've tried a number of virtual desktop management programs from Download.com, but none seems to allow a virtual desktop WITHIN the desktop itself.

If anyone knows of software that can perform this function, I would be grateful.

How can I accomplish this? Some sort of script or something? The computers that I need this on do not have Powerpoint. Let me know any suggestions. Thanks.

Thats going to be tough if your computers dont have PPT. You might have to google around for a free substitute. As far as the click and start funtion, might be able to make a shortcut, but afaik that only opens the program.

Question: Picture Folder

In my picture folder in user in vista I have a lot pictures that use to open normally in windows photo gallery, but lately I created subfolders in this main green folder and started saving pictures in those. But for some reason now when I want to look at the pictures in the main green picture folder when I click on the picture it won't open in the windows photo gallery anymore. The sub folders with pictures open just fine in wpg but they specifically won't open in wpg in the main green picture folder anymore. They just show that little process circle for a split second but never open in wpg. only in the subfolders wpg opens. Is there a way to rectify this

Answer:Picture Folder

I don't think that you can change any settings on this. WPG is designed to open images, not folders. If you could change the setting you might end up in a situation where WPG would try to open evey folder no matter what one you clicked on.

Okay so I was burning some files on a CD and somehow I accidentally moved the entire picture folder onto the CD instead of just copying it. I didn't realize my mistake at first but took notice of something being wrong when I took out the CD and tried to access my pictures folder as all my files were gone with only the message 'This folder is empty.'
Now when I go into the picture folder without the CD inside i see 0 items while I know there should be 636. when the CD is in I can see all my files just fine. is there a way to revert this? I tried copying the pictures folder from the CD and moving it to the actual one but I get 'Please insert a disc into DVD RW Drive (E:).' alert. even moving a single file causes it to pop up.
Any help would be highly appreciated as this is becoming a nuisance.

Hi all,

I need some help urgently.
I hope this is the right place to post by the way.

When I try to upload pictures and press the ''back'' button (ie the button with a folder and a green arrow) the whole screen closes down (and if I do this online, ie photobucket etc) the same thing will happen. I can't get past it, just trying to go to another folder closes everything down.

I've tried turning pc off and restarting in the hope it was a temporary error, but it still does it!

Does anyone know what is wrong and what I can do to correct the problem?

Many many thanks

Hello everyone, so to get right to it, i want to change the main window bars (Just add a picture to them) so they are not so boring, i have used themes before so know it is possible, but unsure of how to change this single item. May be that i will have to get an entire theme again but just hoping there is a better way. so to be clear here is what i mean, on my Chrome (I have a chrome theme installed) you see the tree's on the bars, then you see my explorer frame and you see nothing but the plain old boring bar. So my question to you is, how would i go about doing this? Hope i have provided enough info, if not just ask what it is you want to know.

Answer:How to change the window picture.

It is quite easy actually...
There are to options, one is very easy the other is hard and complicated:
1. Go to Deviantart.com (Browsing Windows 7 Utilities on deviantART) and download the them you like the most.

2. Create your own custom theme. This is a lot harder because you need various programs to do that and same of the components that come with the deviantart themes to apply them like Universal them patcher etc. etc.

When I go to my pictures folders and click on it to change the name it keeps giving me the same error message
"If you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable"

Why is it doing this and what does it mean by file name extension?

Answer:Can't change picture names?

Each of your pictures has a file extension at the end...something like .jpg or .bmp or .tif

When you are about to chnage the file name of the picture, make a mental note of the file extension and be sure to type the very same one after you change the file name. For example:

Original filename of picture : flower.jpg

Would become with name change: rose.jpg

When I save images they go to my download folder, after a while I then transfer and organize the picture files in my pictures folder.

Sometimes though, some pictures have the same file name even though it's not the same picture. And other times there are duplicate files of the same picture.

I copy and paste into the folder and usually select manually whether to move and replace, don't move and don't replace, or move and keep both files. But when it's 1000 files it can be tedious. I would like to only have one single copy of a picture.

Is there a more efficient way of doing this?

I recently bought a new PC with Vista. I'm having a problem trying to customise my folder icons with pictures. I go throught the easy steps but nothing changes. I'm not a technical expert. Can anyone advise what the problem may be . I'll happily provide other information, if required. Thank you.

Simple enough, when i upload my pictures with a flash card to my pictures, everything works fine except: instead of the wizard automatically creating a folder for the uploading pictures, they are downloading as individual thumbnails. How do i have it automatically create it's own folder like it used to.
