Signed driver on Vista64 not recognized

Question: Signed driver on Vista64 not recognized

Hi, I finally have my File System mini-filter driver working great, and tested it a lot on Vista 64-bit using the testsigning boot option. All was fine.

However, when I turn testsigning OFF and try to start the service (the driver), I get the StartService failed with 577 - windows cannot verify the digital signature. Note that the driver in INSTALLED, and the Registry is updated, etc. I just can't start the service (even when running as Admin).

It is signed using a Microsoft cross-certificate, based on the original certificate issued by GlobalSign, as directed in MSDN. You can examine the certificate using the driver's properties, and all looks fine.

I also tried installing the certificate, but that made no difference. This should all be correct, except that it doesn't work!! Any idea what is going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I thought I was all done with this project, but since it doesn't work, I am currently screwed. THANKS!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I've been going at this for days and I can't figure it so I've come here for help.

What's involved with the problem
Vista64
Creative Labs Fatality Champion Series
Creative Console Launcher
Adobe Audition

The situation
I have a Perception 200 microphone hooked up to an Audio Buddy Amp Phantom and all this is hooked up to the I/O console in Line In 2. I can hear voice from the headset, but I can't seem to record anything. When I launch the sound configuration in the Control Panel, it tells me under recording that my only options are Auxiliary, Line-In, Digital-In, S/PDIF-In, "what U Hear" and Headset Microphone. Line-In is checked, but I see no Line In 2. How can I go about adding in Line In 2 so that when I record, it records from Line In 2 instead of what it offers me? I found this to be more easy under windows XP, but it's very difficult to deal with devices in Vista.

Thank You,
Freddy

PeerBlock is a fork of the popular Peer Guardian 2 software. Well the folks that are developing it have just received a legally signed driver for PeerBlock which means that it will run on Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit) without the problems that were plaguing Peer Guardian 2.

I have been trying now to install drivers for my Panasonic Digital Camera, which installs itself as a ZIP drive (it uses a 3.5 100MB ZiP disk instead of memory cards), and Fusion Dazzle which is an analog to digital convereter. Both plug in via USB. They used to work perfectly until I had to reformat and reinstall Windows on my computer.

I now get an error message that it is missing certain files (which ARE on the system) and it is looking for "C:\PCLEUSB.drv". When I point it to the correct driver location I get an error message saying that this driver has not been digitally signed to be compatible for Windows XP and will now exit installation.

I am using the most current drivers from the manufacturer and they say that they are Windows compatible and I am the first to have this problem. So far, they have been unable to assist.

Any suggestions?
Ed

usually the program will ask you if you want to continue, I have never experienced where it just "exited" on it's own. I always continue regardless but it is up to the user.

I recently got a docking station for my laptop (Dell precision M65 w/WinXP Pro SP3 all updates) and when I plugged it in (after all the plug-n-play stuff detected the new docking station stuff), the mouse plugged into the dock USB port would not work (it worked fine previously when plugged into the laptop USB port). I undocked and plugged the mouse back into the laptop's port but it still didn't work.

I went into the device management applet and and tried to update the driver. There was nothing under "Mice and other pointing devices" except the PS/2 touchpad. Under "Human Interface Devices" there was an entry called "HID-Compliant device" If I deleted that device and then did a "scan for hardware changes" I would get the "found new hardware" popup in the tray and then breifly see "Dell USB Optical Mouse" during which the mouse would work but within 2 or 3 seconds it would switch to "HID-Compliant device" and then inform me that my hardware was ready to use at which point the mouse stopped working.

After much screwing around with the device manager and various other USB mice, I found that I could use the "Update Driver" right-click menu item to force the driver to "HID-Compliant mouse" by bypassing all the "Automatic" stuff. This resuted in a working mouse, but I have to do this every time I turn on the laptop.

I have noticed that while following the dialogs during... Read more

I'll try to keep this brief:

> Upgraded GFX cards to 2 x Asus EAH4980 (ATI Radeon HD4890 architecture) from NVidia 8800GTS

> Performed full format on HD and reinstalled Windows Vista X64 Home Premium as well as SP1 and SP2

> Installed chipset drivers etc.

> Installed bundled VGA drivers (8.592)

> Installed miscellaneous software/games

System was running very stable and performing well in Benchmarking tests and games. I then tried to update the VGA drivers to the latest versions, first from ATI's own website - Catalyst 9.8 with VGA driver displayed in Device Manager as 8.640 - and then from Asus' website - displayed as 8.630 in Device Manager.

No matter what drivers I update to I am met with BSOD errors as soon as I try to run any kind of media on my PC. The dump files/dxdiag info etc. is attached to this post.

Upon investigation I note that one driver is not loading and is listed as 'not digitally signed', namely

ATKDispLowFilter.sys

This driver is an AsusTek release. It appears to load ok before I perform these driver updates. I can find no reference to any issues with it either on Asus' forums or elsewhere so this doesn't appear to be a common problem.

I've tried to locate a signed version of the driver to no avail.

Any solution would be very much appreciated.

Phil

Answer:driver is not digitally signed

"Not digitally signed" means Microsoft have not tested this driver and verified it to be compatible with Win XP.  This does not mean it will not work, you should click on the "continue anyway" to install your print driver.  If this is a concern you should check the HP web site for newer driver tested by MS.Kim

Hey,

So I just upgrade to Vista x64 and 4GB of memory (courtesy of OCZ).

However, when installing the x64 version of MagicDisc/MagicISO I get the following error:

Can I get around this?

Answer:Required Digitally Signed Driver?

Uhmmm... yes, you can by pressing F8 at boot time and choosing to ignore the warnings about unsigned drivers, but you have to do it each and every time you boot. There is a way to permanently disable that driver signing requirement but I'm leery to give out the info anymore since it hosed a few people's machines recently.

It wasn't my fault that they chose to continue using shitty old drivers, but they blamed me for the mistake they made anyway.

Vista x64 is a more secure and stable OS than the 32 bit version, and that's one of the primary reasons why: the driver signing requirement. Disabling it or 'getting around it' will more than likely end up causing you issues at some point.

Google can find the specific method to disable the signing requirement permanently, or a search here might find it since it's been posted about 3 times over the past 4 months or so.

Good luck, either way...

Good evening,

I just reinstalled XP on a friends machine that was pooched. It is a Dell DIM4400. Everything is working except for the sound card. It is a built in sound card. When the computer boots up the new hardware wizard comes up asking for a driver for a realtek AC97 Audio device. I have tried everything I can to install the driver but each time I try I get an error that the driver is not digitally signed and it won't install. If I try in safe mode it installs but I get a blue screen upon startup and have to reboot. I do not have the orignial Dell cd but I have tried every driver from the Dell site that should work on this model of computer. I have updated the chip set drivers on the motherboard etc. I just can't get this sound card to work. Any advice??

G'day. I'm trying to install my old VisionPLus DVB-T card into a Windows 7 O/S box and it won't recognise any of the old drivers. When I try to install the TwinHan Digital tv software, Windows can't/ won't install them.

I've downloaded and tried the latest (DigitalTV 3.4 Build 19-02_20090212) and windows comes up with "Driver not found". I've tried to install in compatability mode but still no good.

When installing the above, it identifies my card as “PCI CX-87A with MCU DVB-S/-C/-T/ATSC card”.

Out of all the available drivers on Twinhan's site, which would be the best for my card?

The one written for Vista would be my choice, probably not one for W7 yet, may never be.

Looks like MS ha removed a way to disable unsigned drivers protection in Vista64, so probably is the same for 7

Looks like unsigned drivers are a no go for x64 Vista and Windows 7, well there are some workarounds in the article above, sounds like a hassle.
Not sure if this software will work with W7

I can't get any drivers to install in Vista 64. The Nvidia driver installs, reboots, but retains the native drivers. My airlink wireless card fails during driver install and finally XiFi gets the following message:
"Creative device driver installation program has stopped working"

What's going on? Neither Vista 64 drivers nor Xp drivers are installing.

I'm also having problems with my browsers giving me messages that they are unable to connect to the servers of web pages from time to time.

Update:
FYI for anyone using the search feature, Airlink emailed me back and said that their original drivers will not work and that Vista doesn't support wireless devices yet (whether or not that's true I don't know. The NVIDIA drivers still aren't working but I was able to get the X-Fi working by installing the OEM drivers from the CD. Oddly enough they wouldn't work off the hard drive. I did this after I turned off the driver signing, instructions can be found here:
http://www.tech-recipes.com/microsoft_vista_tips1429.html

From what I've read the X-Fi simply doesn't work with Creatives x64 drivers.

Hi, I been on Vista 64 for a while now, and will upgrade to Win7 64bit when it comes out. What I have trouble with are drivers for my old Dlink 802.11g usb adapter and my budget bluetooth adapter. The prior only has driver support up to vista32. I have tried to run installer using compatibility mode but no luck. The latter comes with driver only supports xp. I have tried the newest Bluesoleil it seems to be responding to it. I don't want to pay for the full version of bluesoleil as the drive alone cost many times more than my adapter I might as well buy a new one. Any free Bluesoleil similar driver that works on vista64?

If you have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and you install a driver that has a Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) or Authenticode signature on the computer.
But in Device Manager, when you expand the corresponding device, right-click the driver, and then click Properties and then click the Driver Details button on the Driver tab, you may find that the driver file is displayed as unsigned! This issue occurs because of incorrect logic when the Authenticode flag in the catalog file of the driver is checked.
To fix this issue download and apply this hotfix from KB2619914.

I recently purchased a new pc that came with win vista 64 bit premium home installed. I am now reloading all my old programs and I keep getting ?windows requires a digitally signed driver" error message. I also can't seem to play my old movie files, all of which played fine when I had Win XP. Apparently Vista does not want me to make my own decisions, so I am wondering how I might go about disabling all this extra secure vista crap. Can I go into Control panel and disable the BitLocker Drive Encryption? Or do I need uninstall 64bit and install the Vista 32 bit? Would that be a smooth transition? Would all my stuff work again if I had the less securitized 32bit Vista? Thanks for any help you may provide.
Regards,
William

Answer:windows requires digitally signed driver

Welcome to the Vista forums

1) You don't want to disable UAC (User Account Control) as it does a lot to protect your computer from various malware. If you really feel the urge to turn it off, then you can in control panel in the User Account section. Once turned off, you'll get the red shield in the bottom right saying it's disabled. Disable security warnings by opening security centre and going to "change how security centre warns me" or something and choose the "no warnings" option.

2) Just download the Vista codec pack (just Google it and you should find it) and DivX and you should have no problems watching videos.

3) You can install unsigned drivers on Vista 64 bit, do this by running an elevated command prompt (right click on command prompt in Start menu and click "run as administrator".

Type this and press enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

When you reboot, you should be able to install unsigned drivers.
Also, I looked on the HP website for your computer, and it has 6GB RAM, so going to Vista 32bit would only allow you to use about 3.5GB RAM. I also saw it only has an Nvidia 6150e onboard graphic card. Are you using this? As if you upgraded this to a graphic card, you'd notice better performance on Vista as well.

MAIN Problem #1:

Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows if i can find a Microsoft Certified Display adapter/video card driver (are those the same thing?) for my :
ASUS AGP-V7100 Geforce2 MX video card.

The reason i ask is because when i look at my drivers through the DirectX diagnostic tool 's display tab it shows my driver as 'nvdisp.drv' and in the 'notes' sections adds :

" The file nvdisp.drv is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a signed driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device"

but when i look through the ASUS home page i can't find my video card. I know my driver is from NVIDIA and i've found the right page to update from them but i'm also wanting to update my chipset driver from VIA and they warn of compatibility problems with NVIDIA so i'm looking for a "signed" "certified" or "standard" adpater/driver?

Answer:windows require a digitally signed driver xp 32 sp2

A signed driver is not necessary in Windows. It is an extra security layer, as drivers can become corrupt by malware. If you obtained the driver from a trusted source (like the device manufacturer's website), you can go ahead and tell Windows to install it.

Hi

The last few times I started my computer, the system comes with the warning:

"Windows requires a digitally signed driver
Driver: Broadcom NetDetect Driver
Service: BASFND
Publisher: Broadcom Corporation
Location: C:\Program Files\Bra...\BASFND.sys"

Windows suggests to uninstall the program or device that uses this driver and check the publishers support site to get a digitally signed driver.

The problem is that I have no idea of which program or hardware is using this driver. All the drivers I have installed in my computer are from the computer manufacturer.
I have also been at Broadcoms homepage and there is plenty of things to download there. But I dont want to ruin anything.

Suggestions on what to do?

System: Windows Vista 64

Answer:Windows requires a digitally signed driver

Broadcom is your onboard ethernet, I don't see why it would suddenly complain unless there was an update.:confused You can disable driver signing but it only cures the symptom and not the cause.

I'm looking to build a new PC over Christmas due to the annual hardware price drop that occurs this time of year, and a question sprung to mind when browsing OS's.

Microsoft Windows Vista 64-Bit Business for System Builders Single Pack DVD - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116211

Microsoft Windows Vista 64-Bit Home Premium for System Builders 3 Pack DVD - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116205

Why is the Business edition so much cheaper? What's the catch there? Also, I will be using 4+GB of RAM, so the 64-bit is necessary.

Thanks in advance from an OS newbie.

Answer:Vista64 Business vs. Vista64 Home Premium

Because you're comparing a "Single Pack DVD" on the Business side to a "3 Pack DVD" on the HP side- you're looking at buying 3 Home Premium DVDs/licenses. What you're looking for is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116204

Hey Fellas,

I have a problem with my PC that I’ve been unable to fix for several days. I am an experienced computer user/programmer/trouble-shooter, but this problem really has me puzzled.

It's pretty hard to provide a neat little description of the problem, since the symptoms change almost randomly, but the common factor is that, occasionally, restarting my computer causes "strange" behaviour in Windows (for example, requiring most of my programs to be reinstalled, missing desktop background, erratic failure to boot into windows, and many more).

Formatting my hard drive and reinstalling windows does not fix the problem.

I'll start from explaining from the first time I encountered the problem so that I don't forget or overlook any details that may be important:

I've had my computer for about a year with pretty much the same hardware/OS/drivers/software, and I've had no major problems with it until now. It has the following specs:
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate (64bit)
CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q6600
RAM: 4GB
Hard Drives:
o1 x Western Digital 250Gb drive partitioned into a 50Gb partition with the OS installed, and the rest in another partition.
o2 x Western Digital 500Gb drives in Raid1.

A few days ago I restarted my computer (I think the reason for the restart was a windows update). After the restart, my computer had the following problems:
The desktop background was missing.
There were a few error message windows on scree... Read more

Answer:Confounding Vista64/Software/Hardware/Driver (?) Problem

I'm not sure if this is important, but my usb webcam doesn't work anymore when plugged into my PC. I've tested it in my laptop and it works fine, so I think maybe my motherboard is faulty.

All other peripherals (mouse, keyboard, external HD) work fine using the same USB ports though.

OK, I have come across 3 methods to disable driver signing with the bcdedit program on various websites:
bcdedit.exe /set testsigning on/off
bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on/off
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

What are the differences between them and which one should I use? Oh, how do you re-enable driver signing for the DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS method, if I use it?

Answer:need help with enabling and disabling signed driver enforcement in vista 64

I'm using the last one and to re-enable it type: bcdedit /deletevalue loadoptions

Hi all, Following device:ThinkPad E531Graphics: Intel HD 4000System: Win7 Pro Following problem:1) Approx. 2 month ago a windows update caused a problem with the hdmi at my laptop. There was no connection to the TV possible anymore (I tried the TV, the cable and the hdmi device already).2) I installed a new driver (origin: Lenovo support page). Result: Windows messages that the driver is not digitally signed...Hence, the device "vga save" was set. What I've already tried, everything as admin:1) look for older drivers: Got only one and it didn't work2) Tried to install a driver directly from Intel: Didn't work3) Tried to disable the signing (GPEdit.msc -  code signature ...). Here I had the problem that I even have no line with the code signature to set the ignore property4) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) in the testmode. The waring message about unsigned drivers came5) Tried to create a certificate. Here the cmd said the command is not known.6) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) after setting the "TESTSIGNING" off (BCDEdit). The waring message about unsigned drivers came My question:Any ideas or similar experiences?I can not believe that the Lenovo or Intel drivers are not signed. But why Windows does not accept them?Is the available update to Win10 an option? Generally: Failure F40 (the failure is 40 cm in front of the monitor) is not excluded  Thank you very much in advance.Regards,Stefan

Windows Vista x64 decided to implement a 'security measure' by which all drivers must be 'digitally signed' to be allowed to install and run. I have a program which is compatible with Vista and x64 bit operating systems, however as its drivers are not digitally signed I cannot run it correctly - I recieve the message 'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' and access to the driver is blocked.

Is there a method of bypassing this?

Answer:'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' - How can I bypass this?

When you boot your system hit F8 and you can bypass it there. You will have to do this every boot. There are a couple applications out there that will do this for you but the names escape me right now.

Hello,
I'm at my wits end. Anyone who can help would be my hero.

Acer 5253 laptop, Win7 Home Premium 64bit SP1, AMD C-50.

Trying to use a USB mouse. I have 3 logitech mice. None work because hidclass.sys and hidusb.sys are not digitally signed. If I f8 and disable driver signing enforcement, all 3 mice work, so I'm pretty certain that's the issue.

Tried "Update Driver" via device manager. Windows determined that I already had the best driver and wouldn't do anything.

Logitech does not furnish drivers for Win7. They rely on the native drivers.

Acer does not furnish mouse drivers. They refer you to the manufacturer of the mouse.

Tried copying the files in question from a 64bit machine that showed them to be digitally signed. Renamed the ones on my machine and pasted the ones from the "good" machine. Resolved nothing.

chkdsk /r found problems and repaired them. Didn't help.

sfc /scannow found problems that it could not resolve. Looked in CBS.log and found no references to either of the sys files in question. No resolution.

System Restore only had one restore point, and it was from 2 days ago. Problem was already noticed by then. I suspect that it's been this way since I purchased the laptop a couple of months ago anyway, but if there had been a restore point back at the very beginning, I'd have tried that.

I don't know much about digital signing of drivers. I've seen in a couple of threads that I might be able to sign the drivers myself, ... Read more

You can use earlier drivers (ie from vista, or even XP) if you install them in compatibility mode

I have x220 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Device manager shows under Storage Controllers "Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller," but there is a yellow triangle with "!" and a Device Status Code 52 message "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device." I checked in C:\Drivers\WIN\Multicard and found two *.cat files--which, I understand, are required to confirm digital signature. Each of them (ridisk.cat and risdxc.cat) has a signed and valid certificate! So what is going on? Will the card reader work? Is there something wrong with how Windows 7 is treating the Ricoh driver, which I downloaded from the Lenovo site? Why should I be getting this grief?

Solved!

Answer:Ricoh card reader driver-not digitally signed?

Hello,

Perhaps the driver is damaged?

Try deleting the Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller from the Device Manager and then restarting the computer in order to let the Device Manager re-detect it and re-install the device drivers.  Does that solve the problem?

Also, the Samsung Magician software reports, that AHCI Mode is deactivated and SATA Interface is N/A. Does that mean that my system is not running on full performance? My harddrive went out and I put a new one in. It was a brand new drive and I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from my laptop's recovery disk that came with the inital purchase. When I started to add the drivers 2 of them came up as unable to verify the signatures. Most importantly the driver for my Wifi adapter, which is an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN says this. Windows refuses to run it in that state. So I have no internet and it says that the adapter is not installed or is disabled. When I go into the Device Manager the adapter is there with a yellow "!" and has an error code 52 (for unsigned driver). It shows installed and enabled though

I installed the driver from the intial driver disc and it says unsigned, I was able to get the latest driver from Intel's website and that too says it can't verify the digital signature.

When I boot into the F8 screen and disable driver enforcement I am able to get online.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but regardless of how I boot, Windows updater and troubleshooters do not work.

I'd appreciate any help.

Hi,

This is my first post on these forums, so please excuse me if anything is wrong.

Details of the problem: I have a Sony VAIO laptop that runs Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I recently downloaded the same version from digital river that has SP1 included and installed it on my laptop. I installed the drivers that I had downloaded from sony's esupport site which went fine. After I rebooted and tried to install the rest of the drivers, I started getting the Code 52 error: Windows cannot verify the signature of this driver. I've seen that every driver can be installed immediately after the system has been booted the first time (after a clean install). Once rebooted, it starts giving the code 52 error. I can't install my iPhone drivers (through iTunes) or PS3 utilities because of this. I'm wondering what changes during the first reboot. I must also say that these very same drivers were used on the previous build of Win 7 HP that I was using except that it did not have SP1 integrated.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I know that the digital signature check can be disabled using bcdedit.exe but I want Windows 7 to work the way it should: it should stop me from using unsigned drivers while installing signed drivers correctly. Does any one have any clue to what's going on with my Win7 on my laptop?

Answer:Driver Digital Signature error when using signed drivers (Code 52)

Hi ajayav, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Boot into Advanced Boot Options and disable driver signing checking.

The Advanced Boot Options screen lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting modes. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts.

Disabling driver signature enforcement has helped a lot of users in fixing the issue.

You may also delete the USB "Upper Filter" & "Lower Filter" Entry and check if that helps.

Well, the thread title sums it up pretty concisely.I develop OpenGL Apps in C++ on my Lenovo T400. My OS is Windows Vista 64 and I use Switchable Graphics. When using ATI Graphics my apps hang since i installed the lastest ATI Driver for the T400 (Release: 2009-04-28) when (and only when) starting the applications in the debugger. When starting the apps directly (either compiled for Debug or Release targets, both 32-bit) however, they work (!). As far i can tell it hangs when it tries swapping the buffers (for double buffering). This happens both in Visual Studio 2005 and 2008. When will there be a fixed driver?

Only been here an hour and already on to my second problem, lol.

So my only other problem is one little hardware adapter that has 64bit drivers... but they're not signed.

Is a "Syba" Serial to USB Adapter (SY-USB-S)...

basically I need to use it so that my battey backup can talk with Windows and give reports on power spikes etc... as well as control the shutdown of windows when I'm not around if there's a power outage.

Now, it's not a huge deal as the battery backup will still work of course, but the extra features won't work until Windows can communicate with it. Unfortunatly the backup only as a serial connection (and my motherboad doesn't) so I'm forced to use the "Serial (RS232) to USB" adapter.

So I'm wondering a few things.

1) can I force Vista x64 to use the unsigned driver from the company?

2) can I trick Vista x64 into thinking the driver is signed? (or someone mod the drive to that it is signed by me?)

3) Anyone know of a signed driver from another company that will work with this item? I assume a few companies use the same chip inside the device. All it does is make a bridge from USB to serial so it's a pretty simply device as well.

4) Anyone know of another Serial to USB adapter that has singed drivers that I could purchase to replace the current one?

Thanks again for any advice or help,
TK.

Installed a StarTech Parallel Port PCI card into a new IBM NetVista A22p (Pentium 4) loaded the drivers for WIN XP. Connected my HP Scanner (4p). Loaded oringinal HP scanner software (Win 95 version). Tried to use scanner and message comes up that driver is not installed. Appreciate your help. Thank you.

Answer:PCI Driver Not recognized

If your original drivers were for 95, they are almost certainly not signed for XP and you may not be able to use them. Did XP give you any error messages at all when you installed them, something about not being digitally signed etc. What did you respond, as the default is to not install any drivers, so if you just clicked OK nothing was installed.

Check out the HP website and see if there are newer drivers for your scanner. Even if there aren't any specifically for XP there may be some for 2000 which should also work in XP, but if presented with that screen again at installation tell it to ignore it.

He has checked the IDE connections at both ends of the data cable, and even replaced the cable. Still no CD drive. I thought optical drives were automatically recognized by the BIOS in all computers. I just did a complete OS reinstall last week, after having everything work fine for four months. However, when I reinstalled my Sigmatel driver (SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio Rev: A09), it says that the system is incompatible with the driver.

Computer model: Dell Dimension E521
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)

Hi!

I have a problem with my graphics card. I use NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 which has 3 video input: VGA, DVI, and HDMI. I use two output displays for my monitor and my HDTV.

I used to connect my monitor via VGA cable and my HDTV via DVI to HDMI cable. I used DVI to HDMI cable for my HDTV because the HDMI input in my graphic cards didn't recognize whenever i want to connect with my HDTV.

However things changed when I updating my driver to version 285.62 recently (this is the first time I update since two years ago). Suddenly, the DVI input didn't connect to my HDTV but the HDMI input works fine!! So, I changed my HDTV input from DVI input to my HDMI.

My question is: How to use both the HDMI and DVI input altogether? Does anyone have ever experience the same thing?

Thanks in advance! Really appreciate your help

Answer:DVI not recognized after updating driver

It might not be possible. From the specs I see on nvidia.com (http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gts_250_us.html), the chipset supports 2 digital outputs. What they may have done on your card is set one output to be the VGA using some sort of digital to VGA bridge and then shared the HDMI and DVI outputs so you could only use one or the other. There may be a software setting somewhere to toggle which one but that I can't help with.

A friend talked me into downgrading my Windows 8 (which was REALLY slow), to Windows 7. 7 does seem faster, however, this system is not recognizing my controller drivers for wifi. I can tether and get on the internet via Ethernet cable just can't connect via wifi. I have tried to update drivers but windows is saying it cannot find driver updates and that I have to look elsewhere.
I just want my wifi back. PLEASE HELP!!!

Answer:wireless driver is not being recognized

What is the full model of the computer please
Did you or your friend check if there were windows 7 drivers for the computer
Was the computer bought with Windows 8 pre-installed and if so has your friend taken the precaution of securing your ability to return to Windows 8/8.1
It is impossible to advise you until we know what the wireless adapter is
However if I have the correct computer see this link please

http://www.asus.com/uk/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/X550CA/HelpDesk_Download/
select your OS Windows 7 64 bit and then having established what the wireless card is download the appropriate driver
Ralink, Broadcom or Qualcom Atheros

I presume your friend or you have ensured that the product key - licence for the 7 ultimate is available for use on this computer.
I mention that, not to suggest that you have done anything wrong, but simply to ensure that you have considered this.

Hey everyone, I will start out by saying that I'm a beginner with computers but have really started to enjoy this troubleshooting thing. I'm a little frustrated because my computer decides which audio cd's to recognize and which one's not to recognize. Lately I've noticed with newer store bought cd's I have not luck with them starting up and working on my laptop, which is running in an xp environment.

I've tried a couple of different things like uninstalling my drives and rebooting, which does not work and a couple of other tweaks that I've had no luck with.

I would appreciate any suggestions and help because I know that this should be a simple issue to fix. I've troubleshooted my drives within xp and everything come's up roses which really makes it more frustrating.

Cheers

Hi i have an A-open cd-burner i've installed ( Master on secondary IDE). It works fine as a cd rom but i can't get it to burn:

PROBLEM ONE
I'm using Deep Burner, when i try to get it to burn it says: " ASPI initalized---Looking for available drivers---No drives found." I discovered in the device manager it indentifies the CD-R as "device type: CD-ROM" not as a CD recorder. The drive was provided by microsoft (loaded automaticaly after instalation) and i guess it's not a CD-R driver. I assume that's why deep-burner can find my burner?

PROBLEM TWO
Trying to fix the above problem i went to the manufacturer's site to get the right driver for my model (CRW5224 A-open CD-R/RW). They only offer a 'firmware' program (r1.08, link below). In the program it says its a "Drive F/W Update Program" Does this mean it updates the firmware AND the driver??
I double click the 'firmware R1.08' and first get a 'procedure window' telling me to "TARGET DRIVE to CRW5225" once i'm in setup. But once I'm actually in the setup program the drop down menu to select a target drive is blank. And i can't type in it and there's no browse button. It seems the flash program can't find my CD-burner. How can i solve this problem?

so my questions are:
1) Do i need to get another driver for my CD-R for DEEP-burner to find it? Or is there another solution.?

2) How do i get the firmwa... Read more

Answer:CD-R: driver not recognized by burning software

I would suggest trying to see if Nero will be able to burn.
Checking the DMA should not wreak havoc with your system. Acctually should help with burning session ( unloads some of the CPU time ). But then again it's win98 so it could wreak havoc ( as in , upon reboot win98 might not "see" it).
If you used to have a CD Rom before you installed the burner, you might wanna take a look at the autoexec.bat and config.sys files. Remove any entries pertaining to the old cd rom. Reboot and see.

Well, my XP PC isn't recognizing any of my CD drives, and I checked the Device Manager, and there was the little Yellow Circle thing with an explanation point in the middle.

I uninstalled them and then restarted my computer, and hit update, but still nothing.

Anybody have anything I can do, like registrar edits or something? Tutorials would be great, cuz idk wtf I'm doing.

Thanks

Can anyone suggest a reason why my computer's O.S. (Dell laptop, WinXP Profess., SP3) would not recognize a device driver file when the computer recognizes the hardware device correctly, then asks for the driver file (which is the correct file for the hardware) but can't seem to either locate it on the computer or "accept" it? I have posted this question in the "Hardware" forum, but got no replies. Then I started to think that it might not be a hardware problem since the hardware (a USB wireless adapter for WiFi) can be installed in my other computer but maybe some issue with my laptop's operating system. I have not had this type of issue with any other added hardware in the past.

Answer:New hardware driver file not recognized by Win XP

Sure. The driver is installed and damaged...the device is not functional...those would be my first two guesses. Installing an incorrect driver could be a 3d option. If the device is dead...no cure for that.If the driver is damaged...remove all drivers other than those which are working properly for other functions...then try to install the device, using the correct driver package.Removing unused device drivers from Windows XP machines - http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-...tml?tag=nl.e101 Louis

I have been trying to fix  my computer Display driver. I am using a Nvidia 520/560 video card. Recently, just visited Nvidia site and downloaded their latest updates of the driver for Nvidia 520/560. However, once it has been installed, my computer seems to load okay but when I try to start using it, it just froze and I cannot proceed but to restart it again and again ending up uninstalling the driver. I was able to see the properties though of my desktop and it reads Nvidia 7000 / 7200 GS. I don't know why it says that thoug I was able to download for sure the correct version and model of the video card that I have. I tried my cd installer of my mother board that includes the driver of my video card. It does load but that's it. It does nothing and my computer only uses the Plug and Play by default of my computer.

Please help....

Answer:Video card driver not recognized.

Please, please, please, I need help guyz...

It seems that no one cares about this post and share their knowledge. I really need an answer about this issue.  By the way, everytime I downloaded the Nvidia driver for Nvidia Nforce series 520/560 32 bit, the system shows it downloaded the  Nvidia 7300 SE / 7200 GS driver. Once it is installed, my monitor froze and I cannot do anything but to uninstall the driver. Is my video card damaged now? or Should I replace it with a new one.. Computer uses the default plug and play driver of the system and not the video card...

Hey everyone! I need your help please. So this is my story.
I had few weeks ago AMD HD 4650 graphics card and recently I've got Sapphire HD 6850.
I haven't uninstalled my old drivers and I installed new. Device manager was showing "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". I uninstalled everything and installed AMD Catalyst Suite which was for automatic detection of drivers. After the installation, I was still getting that Standard VGA Adapter. I went to Update Driver button and I specified the folder where I installed AMD Catalyst and my graphics card was recognized. Everything was alright for 2-3 weeks.
Yesterday my screen started to get black, with stripes on it and many other things. Most of the people wrote it's a case of a bad driver. I went to the safe mode and uninstalled my driver. I also ran Driver Sweeper which removed all the remains. I went to full version of my windows 7 64-bit. I downloaded Catalyst Suite from Sapphire's website and I'm still getting Standard VGA Adapter under Device Manager. Can someone please tell me what to do?
Thank you very much in advance.

-Kindly regards, Dominik

Hello and welcome Dominic mate I find it is much better to go the manufacturers site for drivers and I know you have tried Sapphires site but personally I would be trying it form here and see what happens AMD Catalyst

Have you also thought it might be the monitor mate? so has it got any software for it - just out of curiosity what brand is it?

Hey all,

My computer is an HP Pavilion dv5. My built-in webcam is not recognized by the computer anymore; it shows up in Device Manager as "Unknown Device" under the USB section (at least that's my guess; this unknown device appeared when the cam stopped working). I have reinstalled the HP drivers and contacted HP as well; they couldn't get me past reinstalling the drivers. Are there any things I can try? Might an upgrade to Windows 7 fix the problem?

So at one moment my printer was working, the next it wont print and it says that my driver no longer is recognized.  I have had a bit of strange issues with the printer set up in the past where it wont recognize my computer is on, but I have manually put in the IP address and it works again. So what I have done now:Tried to unistall the software and reinstall. Nothing, same message.Tried to find updated HP software, didnt work.I spent almost three days working with HP and they tried the same options, including using a generic driver and it still did not work. They said it must be my computer and Windows 10 was not fully installed but it has been fine for a year. So I have no idea what to do?I have a Lenovo YogaHP EnvyWindows 10I work from home and I can not print. Hi,

I have a Dell Dimension 4700 that was working OK. I had on IDE an optical drive: a CDRW Samsung unit (48x32), that I used with Roxio 5 without problems. I recently bought a second optical drive, a LG DVD burner that I set up as slave on the IDE channel. I installed the Nero package that came with the LG unit for burning DVDs. They worked OK for a few days, but then when I rebooted the computer it failed to recognized the master drive (CDRW PATA-0).

The BIOS setup showed that the PATA-0 was inactive, and of course was not showing in the device manager of XP. I tried to automatically search for hardware changes in the device manager but found nothing. The only recognized drive was the DVD burner on PATA-1. I went again in the BIOS to set up as active the PATA-0, but still did not recognize the CDRW.

I went to this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314060
and tried the "Guided Help" to remove the upper and lower filters of the registry because that was apparently the problem (conflict between Nero and Roxio). Before trying the guided help I uninstalled both Roxio and Nero. After that I rebooted I still can't see the master optical drive.

I tested the cable changing the connectors, leaving as master (and only unit) the DVD burner. It was recognized, so is not a cable problem. The CDRW unit has power (green light on, tray goes out, and tries to read any CD), but can't get it recognize by the system. I also tried to take out t... Read more

still havin prob w/ my wireless card. i have isolated the prob a little more. when i install the driver for my d link wireless card DWL G650 It installs fine. then after cold boot from my device manager it show the driver as "pcmcia mtd-0002" with a yellow question mark on it, as if it's giving the driver a generic name and not recognizing it. if i keep the device manager open and pull the card out and put it back in it will then recognize it and give it the d link air plus extreme dwo g650 name and connect. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, no luck. i have updated my pavilion ze4400 bios with no luck. called dlink and hp.... surprise.... no luck. i read something about disabling my "sound blaster" from phoenix bios, but don't understand what that means, please help. if you need more info let me know. thanks.

Answer:driver will not stay recognized after cold boot.

I've found just about every version of the 82577LM NIC driver I could find, to use with our Microsoft Deployment 2010 share.  We're doing a Litetouch deployment and injected just about every T410 NIC driver I could find, plus the Intel chipset driver into our boot image.  Same issue every time.  It doesn't recognize the NIC card, according to error logs. Windows XP seems to recognize the driver with no problem.  It's the WinPE that's embedded in the Lite Touch deployment which doesn't recognize.  We've not had a problem from the T60 on up to the T400s, everything worked out of the box.  Anyone else having this problem?

Answer:T410 NIC Driver not recognized - Microsoft Deployment

Hi, I just solved this out by adding Dell's Winpe driver package to MDT Out-Of-Box drivers. It will probably solve your T410 as well since we have the same model in our company and it works nice! Link:Driver Package WinPE  BRAleksandro
