Vista 64 Bit Ethernet Signed Driver Trouble

Question: Vista 64 Bit Ethernet Signed Driver Trouble

I am having a heck of a time. I have installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit and the ASUS P5QC mobo I have came with an unsigned 64 bit Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller
driver.

I called ASUS tech support and talked to them and as of this time, they have only a beta version of the 64 bit signed driver. Vista is not accepting the driver and is considering it as unsigned, so I am left without a computer that can connect to the net.

I have searched hi and low all over the internet to see if I could buy a wired ethernet adapter which has a 64 bit signed driver, but all of the ethernet cards I have been able to find are only compatible with the 32 bit version of Vista or they only have unsigned drivers for their ethernet cards. This is really frustrating!

Does anyone know here WHO (what manufacturer, make, model) of a wired ethernet adapter card 10/100 or 10/1000/1000 (that does not cost a fortune - is retail version, not industrial or commercial)
I might be able to purchase that has the appropriate signed drivers - or

Does anyone here know HOW to disable the signed driver enforcement in Vista Home Premium 64 Bit with SP1? I understand it was possible to do it at one time, but since Microsoft HEXED us with two patches, that route has been disabled. So if there is a way to disable the mandatory signed driver requirement, I would like a step by step explanation of how to do it, in lieu of the need to purchase a new card (my ASIS mobo comes with an UNSIGNED version of the 64 bit driver - so I would like to use this if possible.

So any help would be greatfully appreciated

1 - Do you know who makes wired ethernet cards with 64 bit signed drivers compatible with Vista?

2 - In lieu of this, how do I disable the mandatory signed driver requirement in Vista 64 bit?

3 - If you are using Vista Home Premium or Ultimate 64 bit edition, what ethernet adapter do you have or are you using? Is a mobo adapter or a PCI card?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Try Updating your BIOS. I have the ASUS P5QC mobo, and the wired connection works great with Vista Ultimate x64. Perhaps you have a bad mobo?

OK, I have come across 3 methods to disable driver signing with the bcdedit program on various websites:
bcdedit.exe /set testsigning on/off
bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on/off
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

What are the differences between them and which one should I use? Oh, how do you re-enable driver signing for the DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS method, if I use it?

Answer:need help with enabling and disabling signed driver enforcement in vista 64

I'm using the last one and to re-enable it type: bcdedit /deletevalue loadoptions

I have a client with a Dell Dimension 4700 running XP Home SP3. All the network drivers are showing as corrupted or missing (Code 39). I have downloaded and installed R78727.EXE from Dell and it doesn't help. I even installed a new Belkin Ethernet PCI card and installed its drivers and they, too, show as corrupted or missing (Code 39).
My client says she had an infection which she cleared using MalwareBytes AM. I don't know which one, only that it was one of those that shows "infections" and tries to con you into buying their "cure". She doesn't have recovery disks or a copy of XP Home, though she does have the COA.

Thanks for any help.

Answer:Trouble Installing Ethernet Driver(s)

In the device manager, find your network card and double click on it. Go to the drivers tab and click uninstall. After it's finished, install the most recent drivers again and see if that works.

Also, make sure that the drivers you're downloading are for the correct hardware and correct operating system.

So I am having a bit of a complication with my recent format on my Compaq Presario 6025RSH. Recently due to a severe virus attack I was forced to do a reformat using XP pro. Naturally as we know drivers are missing. Now in Jan I had to do this same thing, and the driver problem was easily solved through the compaq support site. However this time around I have went to the site, and I can not seem to find the driver download any where. Once more this is in response to my missing ethernet controller. I have googled my issue and to my surprise I have found next to zip about my problem. Can any one help? Please? before I pull my hair out?

What exactly is/is not happening when she tries to connect?
More info would be helpful. (Error messages, no connection, slow connection, etc.)
Clearing browser history and cleaning out temp files would be 2 basic things to try.
Also, shutting down modem and comp and rebooting in sequence; allowing the modem to fully connect before booting up comp.

Hi, I was given an Opitiplex gx270 with a blank hd. I was given the "reinstall" windows xp pro and drivers cds. I loaded these. But, as I see often happens, I do not have an ethernet driver.

I went to the device manager--components--network--adapter; I tried to find the driver I need.

Honestly, I don't know what I am reading!

It says the name is: [00000007]Packet scheduler miniport
Adapter type: ethernet 802.3
Installed; yes
PNP divice id; ROOT\MS_PSCHEDMP\0000
index: 7
A bunch of stuff that is not available
MAC address: 4E:24:20:52:41:53
Driver: c\windows\system32\drivers\psched.sys [5.1.2600.1106[xpsp1.020828-1920],64.50KB [66,048bytes] 7/16/2003 10:35AM

I have the isp plugged into the ethernet port, the light is on; I am on the wireless router with this laptop.

I called the isp, and they said, "wow. don't know what to tell you"....
Can anyone tell me how to get this thing hooked up to the internet, so that I can download the updates?

How do I find the ethernet driver, the dell website was not helpful at all.
Thanks so much!

Only been here an hour and already on to my second problem, lol.

So my only other problem is one little hardware adapter that has 64bit drivers... but they're not signed.

Is a "Syba" Serial to USB Adapter (SY-USB-S)...

basically I need to use it so that my battey backup can talk with Windows and give reports on power spikes etc... as well as control the shutdown of windows when I'm not around if there's a power outage.

Now, it's not a huge deal as the battery backup will still work of course, but the extra features won't work until Windows can communicate with it. Unfortunatly the backup only as a serial connection (and my motherboad doesn't) so I'm forced to use the "Serial (RS232) to USB" adapter.

So I'm wondering a few things.

1) can I force Vista x64 to use the unsigned driver from the company?

2) can I trick Vista x64 into thinking the driver is signed? (or someone mod the drive to that it is signed by me?)

3) Anyone know of a signed driver from another company that will work with this item? I assume a few companies use the same chip inside the device. All it does is make a bridge from USB to serial so it's a pretty simply device as well.

4) Anyone know of another Serial to USB adapter that has singed drivers that I could purchase to replace the current one?

Thanks again for any advice or help,
TK.

Answer:ethernet controller driver for D600 Vista Operating System

Are you using 32 bit or 64 bit Vista?

In Device Manager, please right click on the device and select Properties,
then select the Details tab.

In the dropdown box, please select "Hardware ID"
Then, please give us the 4 characters immediately after the VEN_ and the 4 characters immediately after the DEV_
We'll use that info at http://www.pcidatabase.com to figure out exactly which piece of Broadcom hardware it is. Then we can search for compatible drivers with that information.

Secondly, when i try to install gfx drivers, it says "these drivers are for vista-32 bit, this system does not have vista." I deffinitely do though, and I even tried installing the xp ones, but it says the same thing. Any clue? Thanks

Answer:Driver Trouble With Vista

Your Device Manager will tell you what drivers you need. Go to Start and type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Anything with a red X or yellow ! will need drivers. If you can't figure out what the device is, right click on it and select "Properties". Then select the Details tab, then select Hardware ID in the dropdown box. Most of the hardware ID's will have a VEN_ and a DEV_ in the dropdown box entry. Make a note of the 4 characters after each of the (4 characters after the VEN_ and 4 characters after the DEV_Then go to http://www.pcidatabase.com and enter the VEN_ characters in the Vendor Search and search for that. Click on the Vendor link, then search for the DEV_ characters. That'll tell you what the device is.Verify that your Vista is 32 bit by going to the System applet in Control Panel (Classic View). About 1/2 way down the page it'll say either 32 bit or 64 bit. What make and model is your system (or the make and model of the motherboard if it's a custom build)? That'll help us to locate the drivers.

I have been trying now to install drivers for my Panasonic Digital Camera, which installs itself as a ZIP drive (it uses a 3.5 100MB ZiP disk instead of memory cards), and Fusion Dazzle which is an analog to digital convereter. Both plug in via USB. They used to work perfectly until I had to reformat and reinstall Windows on my computer.

I now get an error message that it is missing certain files (which ARE on the system) and it is looking for "C:\PCLEUSB.drv". When I point it to the correct driver location I get an error message saying that this driver has not been digitally signed to be compatible for Windows XP and will now exit installation.

I am using the most current drivers from the manufacturer and they say that they are Windows compatible and I am the first to have this problem. So far, they have been unable to assist.

Any suggestions?

Answer:driver is not digitally signed

"Not digitally signed" means Microsoft have not tested this driver and verified it to be compatible with Win XP. This does not mean it will not work, you should click on the "continue anyway" to install your print driver. If this is a concern you should check the HP web site for newer driver tested by MS.Kim

I recently got a docking station for my laptop (Dell precision M65 w/WinXP Pro SP3 all updates) and when I plugged it in (after all the plug-n-play stuff detected the new docking station stuff), the mouse plugged into the dock USB port would not work (it worked fine previously when plugged into the laptop USB port). I undocked and plugged the mouse back into the laptop's port but it still didn't work.

I went into the device management applet and and tried to update the driver. There was nothing under "Mice and other pointing devices" except the PS/2 touchpad. Under "Human Interface Devices" there was an entry called "HID-Compliant device" If I deleted that device and then did a "scan for hardware changes" I would get the "found new hardware" popup in the tray and then breifly see "Dell USB Optical Mouse" during which the mouse would work but within 2 or 3 seconds it would switch to "HID-Compliant device" and then inform me that my hardware was ready to use at which point the mouse stopped working.

After much screwing around with the device manager and various other USB mice, I found that I could use the "Update Driver" right-click menu item to force the driver to "HID-Compliant mouse" by bypassing all the "Automatic" stuff. This resuted in a working mouse, but I have to do this every time I turn on the laptop.

I'll try to keep this brief:

> Upgraded GFX cards to 2 x Asus EAH4980 (ATI Radeon HD4890 architecture) from NVidia 8800GTS

> Performed full format on HD and reinstalled Windows Vista X64 Home Premium as well as SP1 and SP2

> Installed chipset drivers etc.

> Installed bundled VGA drivers (8.592)

> Installed miscellaneous software/games

System was running very stable and performing well in Benchmarking tests and games. I then tried to update the VGA drivers to the latest versions, first from ATI's own website - Catalyst 9.8 with VGA driver displayed in Device Manager as 8.640 - and then from Asus' website - displayed as 8.630 in Device Manager.

No matter what drivers I update to I am met with BSOD errors as soon as I try to run any kind of media on my PC. The dump files/dxdiag info etc. is attached to this post.

Upon investigation I note that one driver is not loading and is listed as 'not digitally signed', namely

ATKDispLowFilter.sys

This driver is an AsusTek release. It appears to load ok before I perform these driver updates. I can find no reference to any issues with it either on Asus' forums or elsewhere so this doesn't appear to be a common problem.

I've tried to locate a signed version of the driver to no avail.

Any solution would be very much appreciated.

I have for the longest time not been able to install any VGA driver but the generic one. When I did install a nvidia driver ( no matter the version) it would result in a black screen on reboot.

I have now in a try to resolve this, used the option to restore to factory setting. During this process the installation goes fine to the point of trying to enter windows for the first time. At this point it freezes up to a black screen. upon reboot if will notify that the pc was rebooted or the install was faulty, and should be restarted. I have tried redo the install process 4 times, with the same result.

I have after reading some forums found that I can use "shift F10" when I see the dialog with the error, to open cmd prompt. Here I can use devmgmt.msc to open device manager, where I can see that all drivers but the VGA driver is installed. I cannot install any VGA driver, neither the generic/ standard one nor the updated nvidia. error message says: software found but could not be installed, and: device not configured (code 1).

If I remove any of the drivers for other devices, I cant reinstall them (same msg as for the VGA driver).

pc is a laptop acer aspire 5520G
graphics card is Nvidia 8600m GS

G'day. I'm trying to install my old VisionPLus DVB-T card into a Windows 7 O/S box and it won't recognise any of the old drivers. When I try to install the TwinHan Digital tv software, Windows can't/ won't install them.

The one written for Vista would be my choice, probably not one for W7 yet, may never be.

Looks like MS ha removed a way to disable unsigned drivers protection in Vista64, so probably is the same for 7

Hi, I finally have my File System mini-filter driver working great, and tested it a lot on Vista 64-bit using the testsigning boot option. All was fine.

However, when I turn testsigning OFF and try to start the service (the driver), I get the StartService failed with 577 - windows cannot verify the digital signature. Note that the driver in INSTALLED, and the Registry is updated, etc. I just can't start the service (even when running as Admin).

It is signed using a Microsoft cross-certificate, based on the original certificate issued by GlobalSign, as directed in MSDN. You can examine the certificate using the driver's properties, and all looks fine.

I also tried installing the certificate, but that made no difference. This should all be correct, except that it doesn't work!! Any idea what is going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I thought I was all done with this project, but since it doesn't work, I am currently screwed. THANKS!

Hey,

So I just upgrade to Vista x64 and 4GB of memory (courtesy of OCZ).

However, when installing the x64 version of MagicDisc/MagicISO I get the following error:

Can I get around this?

Answer:Required Digitally Signed Driver?

Uhmmm... yes, you can by pressing F8 at boot time and choosing to ignore the warnings about unsigned drivers, but you have to do it each and every time you boot. There is a way to permanently disable that driver signing requirement but I'm leery to give out the info anymore since it hosed a few people's machines recently.

It wasn't my fault that they chose to continue using shitty old drivers, but they blamed me for the mistake they made anyway.

Vista x64 is a more secure and stable OS than the 32 bit version, and that's one of the primary reasons why: the driver signing requirement. Disabling it or 'getting around it' will more than likely end up causing you issues at some point.

Google can find the specific method to disable the signing requirement permanently, or a search here might find it since it's been posted about 3 times over the past 4 months or so.

Good luck, either way...

Good evening,

I just reinstalled XP on a friends machine that was pooched. It is a Dell DIM4400. Everything is working except for the sound card. It is a built in sound card. When the computer boots up the new hardware wizard comes up asking for a driver for a realtek AC97 Audio device. I have tried everything I can to install the driver but each time I try I get an error that the driver is not digitally signed and it won't install. If I try in safe mode it installs but I get a blue screen upon startup and have to reboot. I do not have the orignial Dell cd but I have tried every driver from the Dell site that should work on this model of computer. I have updated the chip set drivers on the motherboard etc. I just can't get this sound card to work. Any advice??

I encountered a problem with spyyware on my computer that necessitated a complete reinstallation. Problem is after everything was back up and running my network adapter was screwed. I beleive some of the driver ffiles were lost or corrupted. I have checked in device manager and this is not the only device with a yellow exclamation mark. The network controller, pci data aquisition, sm bus controller, video controller, and vga graphics addapter are all faulty.m any ideas here? I have tried installing the realtek adapter driver many times but to no avail.

Answer:Realtek rtl8101 driver trouble after reinstalling vista

Hi d00d557,

It's possible that the virus/spyware corrupted the O/S as well. Perform a windows repair and then try re-installing the computer hardware drivers again and see if that helps resolve your computer issues.

Since you have your files backed up, you can also reformat the HDD and perform a fresh install of windows. Hope everything works out well for you.

is it necessary to sign driver in win xp 32 sp2.

when i google i got that it is necessary for win vista , win7 and other upper version.

Answer:windows require a digitally signed driver xp 32 sp2

A signed driver is not necessary in Windows. It is an extra security layer, as drivers can become corrupt by malware. If you obtained the driver from a trusted source (like the device manufacturer's website), you can go ahead and tell Windows to install it.

Hi

The last few times I started my computer, the system comes with the warning:

"Windows requires a digitally signed driver
Driver: Broadcom NetDetect Driver
Service: BASFND
Publisher: Broadcom Corporation
Location: C:\Program Files\Bra...\BASFND.sys"

Windows suggests to uninstall the program or device that uses this driver and check the publishers support site to get a digitally signed driver.

The problem is that I have no idea of which program or hardware is using this driver. All the drivers I have installed in my computer are from the computer manufacturer.
I have also been at Broadcoms homepage and there is plenty of things to download there. But I dont want to ruin anything.

Suggestions on what to do?

System: Windows Vista 64

Answer:Windows requires a digitally signed driver

Broadcom is your onboard ethernet, I don't see why it would suddenly complain unless there was an update.:confused You can disable driver signing but it only cures the symptom and not the cause.

MAIN Problem #1:

Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows if i can find a Microsoft Certified Display adapter/video card driver (are those the same thing?) for my :
ASUS AGP-V7100 Geforce2 MX video card.

runnig win98/SE on a VIA chipset

The reason i ask is because when i look at my drivers through the DirectX diagnostic tool 's display tab it shows my driver as 'nvdisp.drv' and in the 'notes' sections adds :

" The file nvdisp.drv is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a signed driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device"

but when i look through the ASUS home page i can't find my video card. I know my driver is from NVIDIA and i've found the right page to update from them but i'm also wanting to update my chipset driver from VIA and they warn of compatibility problems with NVIDIA so i'm looking for a "signed" "certified" or "standard" adpater/driver?

If you have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and you install a driver that has a Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) or Authenticode signature on the computer.
But in Device Manager, when you expand the corresponding device, right-click the driver, and then click Properties and then click the Driver Details button on the Driver tab, you may find that the driver file is displayed as unsigned! This issue occurs because of incorrect logic when the Authenticode flag in the catalog file of the driver is checked.
To fix this issue download and apply this hotfix from KB2619914.

I recently purchased a new pc that came with win vista 64 bit premium home installed. I am now reloading all my old programs and I keep getting ?windows requires a digitally signed driver" error message. I also can't seem to play my old movie files, all of which played fine when I had Win XP. Apparently Vista does not want me to make my own decisions, so I am wondering how I might go about disabling all this extra secure vista crap. Can I go into Control panel and disable the BitLocker Drive Encryption? Or do I need uninstall 64bit and install the Vista 32 bit? Would that be a smooth transition? Would all my stuff work again if I had the less securitized 32bit Vista? Thanks for any help you may provide.
Regards,
William

Answer:windows requires digitally signed driver

Welcome to the Vista forums

1) You don't want to disable UAC (User Account Control) as it does a lot to protect your computer from various malware. If you really feel the urge to turn it off, then you can in control panel in the User Account section. Once turned off, you'll get the red shield in the bottom right saying it's disabled. Disable security warnings by opening security centre and going to "change how security centre warns me" or something and choose the "no warnings" option.

2) Just download the Vista codec pack (just Google it and you should find it) and DivX and you should have no problems watching videos.

3) You can install unsigned drivers on Vista 64 bit, do this by running an elevated command prompt (right click on command prompt in Start menu and click "run as administrator".

Type this and press enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

When you reboot, you should be able to install unsigned drivers.
Also, I looked on the HP website for your computer, and it has 6GB RAM, so going to Vista 32bit would only allow you to use about 3.5GB RAM. I also saw it only has an Nvidia 6150e onboard graphic card. Are you using this? As if you upgraded this to a graphic card, you'd notice better performance on Vista as well.

Windows Vista x64 decided to implement a 'security measure' by which all drivers must be 'digitally signed' to be allowed to install and run. I have a program which is compatible with Vista and x64 bit operating systems, however as its drivers are not digitally signed I cannot run it correctly - I recieve the message 'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' and access to the driver is blocked.

Is there a method of bypassing this?

Answer:'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' - How can I bypass this?

When you boot your system hit F8 and you can bypass it there. You will have to do this every boot. There are a couple applications out there that will do this for you but the names escape me right now.

Also, the Samsung Magician software reports, that AHCI Mode is deactivated and SATA Interface is N/A. Does that mean that my system is not running on full performance? And is there are solution for these issues? Thank you!

Hi all, Following device:ThinkPad E531Graphics: Intel HD 4000System: Win7 Pro Following problem:1) Approx. 2 month ago a windows update caused a problem with the hdmi at my laptop. There was no connection to the TV possible anymore (I tried the TV, the cable and the hdmi device already).2) I installed a new driver (origin: Lenovo support page). Result: Windows messages that the driver is not digitally signed...Hence, the device "vga save" was set. What I've already tried, everything as admin:1) look for older drivers: Got only one and it didn't work2) Tried to install a driver directly from Intel: Didn't work3) Tried to disable the signing (GPEdit.msc - code signature ...). Here I had the problem that I even have no line with the code signature to set the ignore property4) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) in the testmode. The waring message about unsigned drivers came5) Tried to create a certificate. Here the cmd said the command is not known.6) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) after setting the "TESTSIGNING" off (BCDEdit). The waring message about unsigned drivers came My question:Any ideas or similar experiences?I can not believe that the Lenovo or Intel drivers are not signed. But why Windows does not accept them?Is the available update to Win10 an option? Generally: Failure F40 (the failure is 40 cm in front of the monitor) is not excluded Thank you very much in advance.Regards,Stefan

Hello,
I'm at my wits end. Anyone who can help would be my hero.

Acer 5253 laptop, Win7 Home Premium 64bit SP1, AMD C-50.

Trying to use a USB mouse. I have 3 logitech mice. None work because hidclass.sys and hidusb.sys are not digitally signed. If I f8 and disable driver signing enforcement, all 3 mice work, so I'm pretty certain that's the issue.

Tried "Update Driver" via device manager. Windows determined that I already had the best driver and wouldn't do anything.

Logitech does not furnish drivers for Win7. They rely on the native drivers.

Acer does not furnish mouse drivers. They refer you to the manufacturer of the mouse.

Tried copying the files in question from a 64bit machine that showed them to be digitally signed. Renamed the ones on my machine and pasted the ones from the "good" machine. Resolved nothing.

chkdsk /r found problems and repaired them. Didn't help.

sfc /scannow found problems that it could not resolve. Looked in CBS.log and found no references to either of the sys files in question. No resolution.

System Restore only had one restore point, and it was from 2 days ago. Problem was already noticed by then. I suspect that it's been this way since I purchased the laptop a couple of months ago anyway, but if there had been a restore point back at the very beginning, I'd have tried that.

I don't know much about digital signing of drivers. I've seen in a couple of threads that I might be able to sign the drivers myself, ... Read more

You can use earlier drivers (ie from vista, or even XP) if you install them in compatibility mode

My harddrive went out and I put a new one in. It was a brand new drive and I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from my laptop's recovery disk that came with the inital purchase. When I started to add the drivers 2 of them came up as unable to verify the signatures. Most importantly the driver for my Wifi adapter, which is an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN says this. Windows refuses to run it in that state. So I have no internet and it says that the adapter is not installed or is disabled. When I go into the Device Manager the adapter is there with a yellow "!" and has an error code 52 (for unsigned driver). It shows installed and enabled though

I installed the driver from the intial driver disc and it says unsigned, I was able to get the latest driver from Intel's website and that too says it can't verify the digital signature.

When I boot into the F8 screen and disable driver enforcement I am able to get online.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but regardless of how I boot, Windows updater and troubleshooters do not work.

I'd appreciate any help.

I have x220 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Device manager shows under Storage Controllers "Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller," but there is a yellow triangle with "!" and a Device Status Code 52 message "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device." I checked in C:\Drivers\WIN\Multicard and found two *.cat files--which, I understand, are required to confirm digital signature. Each of them (ridisk.cat and risdxc.cat) has a signed and valid certificate! So what is going on? Will the card reader work? Is there something wrong with how Windows 7 is treating the Ricoh driver, which I downloaded from the Lenovo site? Why should I be getting this grief?

Answer:Ricoh card reader driver-not digitally signed?

Hello,

Perhaps the driver is damaged?

Try deleting the Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller from the Device Manager and then restarting the computer in order to let the Device Manager re-detect it and re-install the device drivers. Does that solve the problem?

Hi,

This is my first post on these forums, so please excuse me if anything is wrong.

Details of the problem: I have a Sony VAIO laptop that runs Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I recently downloaded the same version from digital river that has SP1 included and installed it on my laptop. I installed the drivers that I had downloaded from sony's esupport site which went fine. After I rebooted and tried to install the rest of the drivers, I started getting the Code 52 error: Windows cannot verify the signature of this driver. I've seen that every driver can be installed immediately after the system has been booted the first time (after a clean install). Once rebooted, it starts giving the code 52 error. I can't install my iPhone drivers (through iTunes) or PS3 utilities because of this. I'm wondering what changes during the first reboot. I must also say that these very same drivers were used on the previous build of Win 7 HP that I was using except that it did not have SP1 integrated.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I know that the digital signature check can be disabled using bcdedit.exe but I want Windows 7 to work the way it should: it should stop me from using unsigned drivers while installing signed drivers correctly. Does any one have any clue to what's going on with my Win7 on my laptop?

Answer:Driver Digital Signature error when using signed drivers (Code 52)

Hi ajayav, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Boot into Advanced Boot Options and disable driver signing checking.

The Advanced Boot Options screen lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting modes. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts.

Disabling driver signature enforcement has helped a lot of users in fixing the issue.

You may also delete the USB "Upper Filter" & "Lower Filter" Entry and check if that helps.

So I have IE7 on Vista. When I try to access the website http://webmail.freeshell.org I get an error "internet explorer cannot access the webpage". It should be saying that there's a problem with the certificate, and let you decide whether to go on. IE7 can open some other secure websites.I did a lot of surfing trying to figure it out. It seems like the problem is that this webpage has a self-signed certificate, and it's not signed using RSA algorithm, it uses SHA1.IE7 on Windows XP accesses the website fine. Apparently IE6 also works. I think this is the problem because I found the problem described online in 2 places, http://blogs.atlassian.com/developer/2007/...ta_and_ssl.htmland another atlassian.com website. I had tried a lot of suggestions I found online and none of them worked. I installed all the updates I've received from Microsoft. It's apparently a bug in IE7 on Vista. If anyone else has IE7 on Vista it might be interesting to see if you get the same error trying to get to this webpage. I have the version of IE7 that came with the "upgrade" to Vista. I wish I'd stuck with Windows XP. Laura

Answer:Ie7 On Vista Can't Handle Certificates Signed With Sha1

Why is everyone saying Vista 64-bit won't install unsigned drivers? I installed the latest beta driver from nvidia and Vista warned that it was unsigned but gave me an option to install anyway.

Am I missing something/misinterpretting this or was this only the case in the Beta/RC verisons of Vista and everyone keeps bringing it up (kind of like requiring UAC for changing backgrounds; people still say Vista does it)?

Answer:Digitally signed drivers required under Vista 64-bit?

Short answer: The effects of FUD.

Long answer: The truth is, it was never stated on any official documents that Vista wouldn't accept unsigned drivers. The real mechanism is how Vista handles such drivers, in that the permission level changes, but that's such a 'behind the scenes' object that some ppl though it cooler to just say, "NOEZ, the sky is falling!".

Hi all,
I am wondering how do I digitally sign my driver so that it can be installed on a Win7 Ultimate SP1 in a VMWare virtual machine. I have used Visual Studio 2013 to sign my driver and cat files using a certificate I obtained from GlobalSign. Both of these
files passed the signtool check, but when trying to install in this virtual machine it generates an error code 52.
Thanks in advance for any help

This driver (or part of it) is not digitally signed, hence during silent install in SCCM TS Windows 7 x64 it will "hang" waiting to accept the unsigned driver (NOT during Apply drivers, but Sequence that runs setup.exe - I install ALL graphics drivers this way!)

Question: Ethernet trouble

Alright, I need some serious help. I just got to college, and I discovered that the dorm rooms have internet, but they only have Ethernet jacks, they don’t have wireless connection. Next, I discovered that my computer isn’t recognizing the Ethernet cable being plugged into it, although THERE ARE LIGHTS BLINKING (a green and orange light) on the computer port. So…I thought it might be the Ethernet cord, but I tried 3 different cords with the same result. Next, I thought it might be the wall jack, but the kid in the room next to mine’s internet jack works for him, but not for me (he has the exact same laptop I have).
Side note: when I go to manage network connections, it says Local Area Connection, then right under it, it says Network Cable Unplugged. HOWEVER, every 2 seconds (I timed it), it switches to saying Enabled for less than half a second, before switching back to saying Network Cable Unplugged. I have a feeling this is either a big clue to fixing my problem, or a big clue to showing that my computer is way messed up.
So, I decided there must be something wrong either with the port in my computer (Please, no) or with the driver in my computer. I tried uninstalling the driver then restarting my computer, but still had the same unplugged/enabled thing happen, so I don’t know what’s wrong, but I would love if you could help me.

Answer:Ethernet trouble

See the stuff about 6TO4 in posts 2 through 7 in http://forums.techguy.org/networking/740997-hp-laptop-running-vista-severely.html and try to get rid of it.

Then run the following repairs and show another ipconfig /all. Just regular font would be OK; it makes reading the ipconfig easier.

(From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista.

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Components Involved in Problem:
Motorola Surfboard 5100 with usb and ethernet connection
Black computer (T2682 emachine)
White Computer (Custom)

Well, I have two computers. I need to return one to my uncle tho. But my computer which I will refer to as the white one because it has a white case, will not connect to internet on its own unless connected by a crossover cable to my uncle's computer which i will refer to as the black one, because of its black case.
The black one works fine and can connect to the internet through a USB connection, but i Cannot get it to connect with an ethernet connection only. I tried the Comcast CD's they give out that are supposed to configure it for you but to no avail.
The white one cannot connect using either one USB or Ethernet and thats obviously the big problem since it will be my only computer.

I am not totallly incompetent about computers but I am no expert nor am I close to being one so use lamence terms please, I will check this post daily. Anyone who can help will probably need more info than I provided so just ask for it, and I will supply it within 24 hours most likely less. please keep up with me on this i really would like to crack this.
In Summary, just an internet connection problem if any more information is required just ask I will respond with it promptly. Thanks for any help.

Question: Ethernet Trouble

I'm a library tech administrator. We have a small network of five computers, along with two more dedicated to our online catalog, for public access.

recently we've been losing our internet connection quite often. it's sporadic, but on certain computers the loss is fairly consistent. i uninstall the driver and re-install, which fixes it, but then in a couple of days it'll cut out again.

we are using winxp with service pack two. we've got both realtek RTL8139 810x Family Fast Ethernet and VIA Rhine II Ethernet in the troubled systems. I've tried updating the drivers but to no avail.

Anyone else have this problem or know a fix?

Hi! So I'm not at all good with computers but recently I got an Ethernet plug and wanted use it with my mac. I connected the plug without using an adaptor and the Ethernet seems to connect just fine, however, I can't use google chrome or safari as every time I try to search it says something like "can't access this website network not secure." I tried fixing the privacy settings on my mac to be more lenient but it still doesn't help. If I buy an adaptor and then plug it in would it allow me to connect. Or is this a totally different kind of problem?

I am currently trying to fix a Toshiba Laptop with one problem. It's ethernet driver, Marvell Yukon, began to disfunction. It wouldn't even read the ethernet cord when plugged in.

I checked the cord, it was fine. I tested the port with a desktop, the desktop went online perfectly fine.

I uninstalled and re-intalled the Marvell Yukon adapter. It read the ethernet cord this time, but it refused to connect to the IP address claiming "little to no connectivity" So I decided to download a new driver. I downloaded Realtek. I intalled the driver via New Hardware wizard only for it to say "Device cannot Start" (Code 10).

I went through the never-solved-anything troubleshooter that didn't solve a thing . It told me to use Windows Update. I did, but this time, the update was not only ineffective, but it also forced the wireless network drive to malfunction as well...

Any helpful advice? T_T

Hi, i was reading some of the other posts and did find one similar to my problem.

It seem that my enternet card is not working. when I plug in the cable it does not light up, I do know that it works because i use it on another laptop to get to the internet.

Here is what i have done so far:

start/ru/cmd

ipconfig/all

Windows IP Configuration
Host Name ......................user-564ea34999
Primary Dns Suffix.....................
Node Type..............................Unknown
IP routing enabled..................no
WINS proxy enabled.............no

Ethernet adaper local area connection 6:
Media State..............media disconnected
Description.............3 Com 3C920 Intergrated Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX compatible)#2
Physical Address....................00-06-5B-D7-D5-75

I also did ping test and it did show some sort of reply. (if you need those details let me know)

So, what do you think, can something be done?????

Answer:Ethernet Card Trouble

If it's a known working cable and a known working LAN port on the router or modem or whatever at the other end and your ethernet LED does not light then the NIC is bad. Unless it is turned off as a power saving option (some laptops do this when on battery).

EDIT: Just remembered--one other person discovered that his NIC had been mysteriously disabled in the BIOS. So, check the BIOS to make sure the NIC is enabled.

I am working with a Dell laptop N5030 Win 7, this problem just started recently and is driving me nuts.

It will hook up to my WiFi just fine but not the internet. 3 other computers on the same network can access the internet. I did try downloading an updated driver from Dell off another computer via thumb drive with no luck. It worked fine a week before, never any trouble. Did all the normal steps, Clean and Defrag, ran a Virus Scan, tried to restore to an earlier date but would not restore.

If I go into Device Manager, it shows Network Connections just fine. Below that is Other Devices with Ethernet Controller under that with a yellow eclamation point. If I click on it, it says device is not installed.

I tried doing a ping test in command prompt, no luck, tried resetting the TCP/IP but tells me I need to switch to administrator, there is only one user. I went into Internet Options and it is set for Broadband connections but will not allow me to make any changes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

So I have a PCI ethernet card I have never used before, and a new motherboard with an onboard ethernet port, and neither seem to bne working.

In device manager they look fine, and in the system tray I see two little computers with red x's through them and when I hover the pointer is says "network cable unplugged" or something to that effect, which is quite strange as I have my new router plugged in. Also a light should go on on the router indicated which port is attached to the pc once the ethernet cable is inserted, but this does not happen.

And of course the router does not work.

Any ideas?

Answer:Ethernet card trouble

Did you install the motherboard drivers?
Make sure the ethernet cable is attached to the modem, in the proper conneccotr, I say this because you may have it connected to where the modem should connect, its unlikly but possible still. In control panel under network connections, make sure the incomming connectiopn enabled under properties. Also try connecting without router.

With router attached, try these commands through cmd

ping google.com

if it can ping a site then for some reason its not showing up as connected but actualy is connected.

also

ipconfig/all

ipconfig/release
ipconfig/renew

also, take the PCI ethernet card out and just use onbaord its faster, since its already connected to motherboard. It prolly doesn't help that you have it in.

Welcome to the Windows Seven forum.

Is the driver loaded? Check the adapter in Hardware Manager. Any yellow notices showing? Do you have any lights on at the ethernet connector at the back of the PC? (with the cable plugged in.)

I am having an issue with my ethernet port on a Dell Micro PC 3050. It always shows as unplugged. The thing is a little over a year , just out of warranty.

Here are things I have tried:
1. Multiple network cables
2. Multiple ports on router and direct to ATT gateway.
3. Updated driver from Realtek, then rolledback driver
4. Plugged in ethernet usb dongle into usb port and it worked , using same source cable
5. Also tried to change to half duplex in driver properties
5. Rebooted several times

Any suggestions? Is there a way to know for sure if it is bad, I am assuming it is baked into motherboard so not replaceable.

I'm running a Gateway DX4720-03 (manual: https://www.manualowl.com/m/Gateway%.../Manual/148002) with Windows 7 HP 64-bit and have a Nvidia GeForce 7100/nForce 630i card and a Linksys WRT 320N router. My problem is that I always thought that this desktop computer was wirelessly connected to the internet, but I just found out that it was connected via an ethernet cable. At the moment everything is working just fine (portable computer wirelessly synched with desktop, guests can easily access my wifi, no problems with the internet, etc), except when I try to set up my wifi camera as an access point and have the computer recognize it. It was at this point, after much, much research and fiddling, I discovered that my network was set up as a Local Area Connection using an ethernet cable. In fact, the router was never listed in Network (under Network Infrastructure) until I just now selected "Add a wireless device." But, when going to Device Manager, Network adapters has MS Teredo Tunneling Adapter and NVIDIA nForce 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet and under Network Infrastructure Devices there is MS Wireless Router Module...the Linksys router doesn't show up here even though I just added it. From all this manipulation, it should be obvious that although I can very handily tweak my browser (Firefox), maintain a clean computer, solve various computer related problems - with help from the various forums, I am truly at a loss when it comes to networking and wireless set up.
