Emails sometimes go to gmail and not windows mail

Question: Emails sometimes go to gmail and not windows mail

I primarily use Windows Mail for my work at home job. I also have a Gmail account so I can check for e-mails on my iphone when I'm out. I want to have it set up so that the emails show up in both places, Windows Mail and Gmail.

Currently if my desktop computer is turned off and my Windows Mail program is not open, the incoming emails only go to Gmail and not Windows mail. OR, if my computer is up and running but the Windows mail doesn't happen to be open, the emails only go to Gmail and not Windows Mail. Seems like if my browser (IE8) is open but windows mail is not open, emails will only go to Gmail.

Do I have some settings wrong which would make the emails not show up in Windows Mail?

I am running Windows Vista, 64 bit.

Thank you for any suggestions.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Emails sometimes go to gmail and not windows mail

Hi lindalo5032,

While researching for this issue, found a link which might help in fixing the issue: Leaving Mail on the Server with Windows Mail | Tiger Technologies Support

Ensure to check the box ?Leave a copy of messages on the server? and uncheck ?Remove from server after? and ?Remove from server when deleted from deleted items?. Click Apply and then OK.

Check if the new messages appear in Windows Mails and Gmail.

Please post the results.

When I delete an email received in my Win 10 Mail App inbox, the same email is also deleted in my Gmail inbox, automatically. I would like to prevent this. Emails deleted from my Mail App should be left behind in my Gmail inbox. Could I prevent this deletion from happening by changing an IMAP Access setting in my Gmail settings?

I attach two pictures. In the one, you can see how my Win 10 Mail App was configured by Windows when I added my Gmail account. In the other picture, you can see what I consider changing in my IMAP settings at GMail. I have no idea if this will help and whether I should make this change. I am fairly computer-illiterate.

Could somebody advise me please?

My ISP, Shentel, now uses Google mail as email servers. I run a business and in the past have been able to send bulk type emails, broken down into groups of 80 or less recipients (per my ISP instructions) and had no issues. I have about 10-12 of these groups of 80 or less recipients and I send each group seperately throughout the day. In otherwords, I don't send all 10-12 groups at once.

I only send these group emails 2 - 4 times a year, so I'm not sending 10 ga-billion emails.

Recenlty (say in the last 6 months), I send out these bulk emails and the emails are not delivered. They are not stuck in the Outbox and they show as being Sent. I have contacted some of the recipients individually and they indicated they did not receive the group emails, but do receive individual emails.

I contacted my ISP and they just walked me through my Windows Live Mail settings, but he was not able to offer any other help.

Any help appreciated.

Robert

Answer:Bulk emails using Windows Live mail through Gmail

It sounds like there's a syncing issue between Windows Live and Gmail.

Are you able to get to the Gmail admin page for your email account via a web browser? From there, make sure it's configure to use IMAP.

You may also want to try another email client, like Outlook or Thunderbird.

gmail is set-up and sends and receives emails on its website. I then set it up on Windows 10 running Windows Live Mail. However, although gmail on the computer can send emails ok, it refuses to receive them. error
message comes up as follows- Windows Server Error (imap.gmail.com), portal POP3, port 993, secure SSL Yes.
Windows Live Mail Error ID O x 800 CCC 90. I can still send emails through the website, it is Windows Live
Mail which will not send emails. All other email addresses I have send and receive emails through Windows
Live Mail so the problem seems to be with the gmail address, any help how to solve this, have looked at UTube
and various blogs but haven't found a solution.

I have set up my gmail emails to be displayed along with my POP emails using Windows Live Mail. They do display but in duplicate every time. My POP emails show as single email messages as is normal. Can you tell me what I have done wrong please??? Thanks RRH100

Answer:gmail emails duplicated in Windows Live Mail Inbox.

Try this -
When in the live mail program as you look at the folders under your email account you will see an inbox on top. Under the inbox is a folder named Gmail, this folder expands to show "all mail" which is all emails in your box under one folder. Live mail when showing "unread emails" displays the inbox and the "all mail" folder at the same time. This creates the duplicates shown in the unread messages tab. To fix this click on the gmail folder and right click on the "all mail" folder and select Hide this folder.

So this just started today (like an hour ago). When I get an email in Gmail it shows in my Inbox. If I open it to read it, and then close it, it still shows in my Inbox, but if I refresh then it disappears. Only unread emails show. If I check All Mail it shows the read emails, and shows the tag "Inbox", so they are still there, but just not visible. If I check them as unread in the All Mail view they show again in Inbox, but again, once read, they disappear. It's happening in both Chrome and Firefox. Anyone else having this issue?

I use the new Windows Live Mail client to access two IMAP accounts, Gmail and one provided by my University. Gmail works such that whenever you send an email through it, it automatically puts a copy in the Sent Mail folder. So if the WLM client tries to put a copy there as well, you end up with two copies of the email in the Sent Mail folder. The University IMAP account doesn't work like this. A copy will only appear in the Sent Mail folder for that account if the client program puts a copy there.

So the problem is the way WLM handles this. Most IMAP settings are specific to the account. You right click on an account, go to settings, and then go to the IMAP section and specify the folders and stuff like that. However, the option of whether or not WLM puts a copy of an email you send in the Sent Mail folder can only be set for the entire client.

In Tools->Options->Send is the checkbox for this option. If it's checked, I get a single copy of sent mail in the University account and two copies in Gmail. If it is unchecked I get no copies for the University account and just one for Gmail.

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

edit: Oh, and a side question, is it possible to make WLM stop showing the number of unread emails in the trash or spam? They're in there because I have no intention of reading them. I don't care how many are unread.

The question really says all about what I want to do, or need help on. I recently signed up for a new outlook account to try out the new outlook preview and I've set up gmail to automatically forward new messages to my outlook account so that I can use outlook to manage my gmail account.

Do any of you know how I would be able to forward the old messages, and not the new ones, to my outlook? I already know that they can be fetched into outlook by outlook's very own service, forwarding would be faster, so..?! Also, since I now use outlook to send email on behalf of my gmail account, how do I make it sync each email I send using outlook with my gmail - so that gmail has it all?

TY in advance. Please do help.

I have a Windows 10 phone. I use the Outlook Mail app that comes with the phone. My current email is a Gmail. When I loaded my phone I used my Microsoft account, which is also linked to my gmail account. In outlook, I made sure to ADD my GMAIL account and use the snych settings for email, calendar and contacts.
Calendar is great, contacts are great. When I check my emails, the emails come in just fine.
When I delete an email in the outlook app on my phone. The email is still in my GMAIL. I have tried to look up different things I can do but I can only find responses that do not work.
I would really like to use the Outlook app for my phone, but sometimes I do check my email on a computer. I would like those 2 to work with each other. Not by themselves.

As I have a couple of Gmail accounts, I use Outlook 2010 (running under Windows 7) to consolidate them together and use it for reading, sending and archiving all my emails.
Until recently I have been able to manage my emails without problem, but within the past few weeks I have run into problems sending emails using Outlook for my Gmail accounts. Messages are stored in my Outbook but will not send. This does not happen all of the time, only intermittently, and even if I press the send/receive button, or reboot Outlook 2010, the messages remain in the outbox.
The only way I have managed to send them is to reboot my PC and then restart Outlook - then the messages send automatically as they normally should do and the outbox is cleared. However after a while, and not on every Outlook session, the messages do not send from Outlook unless I reboot my PC again.
I have checked my email settings and as far as I can tell they are OK (as they normally work):
Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com and port 995
Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com and port 465
and outgoing server set to require authentication.
I get no error messages - the emails just remain in the outbox until I reboot the PC.
Can anybody advise how I can resolve this issue?
Many thanks for your help.

I've tried searching everywhere, & I cannot find a solution to this problem.  I have a contact who shows up in my Chat list on the left of my Gmail, who I would like to remove.  He has two e-mail addresses, one gmail, the other is @una.edu (his college address).  I've tried deleting him entirely, but the latter address still shows up in my Gmail Chat list, to my frustration.  He never uses that address anymore, so I desperately want to unclutter the list by taking it off.  There is no option to block, remove, or set it to "never show", so I'm coming here for help.  Hope you all can help me out!

Answer:Removing a Contact on Gmail Chat (No gmail e-mail address)

From the Web: How to remove a contact from chat list? - Google Product Forums

1. From your inbox, click the bold link on the left:
"Contacts".
A list pops up with all your groups:
"Friends, Family, Coworkers, Gremlin Trainers, Most Contacted, All Contacts... etc",
2. Select All Contacts.
A list pops up with all your Contacts. You can even search, if thats how deep you roll, but that probably means you have too many contacts and why not just leave that one?
3. Select that person you don't really hate per se, but just don't want to see in your chat status list...
A window pops up with various options for where to move/what to do with that contact, including: "Show in chat list"4. Set that contact to: Auto, Always, Never, or Block.

I've been using outlook 2007 to send and recieve emails for the past 3 years or so (recieving from my website's pop server, and sending through gmail --- my website's domain has been flagged for spamming). Last week, I started getting this error message as I noticed that emails aren't being sent:

"none of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server"

I've tried double checking my login info, server settings, firewall, and even tried sending emails over a different network (work, home, starbucks..etc). I also changed the port number and security type as advised by gmail's troubleshooting...

Anyone have a hint for me???

Thanks

Hey folks,

I've got two quick questions regarding Gmail and Windows mail. I've spent a lot of time using Gmail and have gotten use to the interface and what not. I recently decided to try Windows Mail (the program) and set it up with my Gmail account through POP. It connected and downloaded every single email that I've written over the past year (all 3,000) including all of my 'conversation' emails from my wife (we basically chat through Gmail). I had over fifteen different folders they were stored in, so I've now I've got 3,000 unorganized 'unopened' emails sitting there.

My question is this: If I went through and organized all of this stuff, would there be any point? Is Windows Mail any good, does it do anything the Gmail interface doesn't?

Also, is there any way that any future emails that I put into Gmail folders (within Gmail, at work), can be automatically put into the correct corresponding folder in Windows Mail?

Thanks in advance,

Josh Hicks

I use Windows Mail to view emails from my Gmail account. I set it up and have been using it without any problems for a couple of years.

However, when I opened Windows Mail today, I was prompted to enter my User Name and Password with the following message:

"Logon to pop.gmail.com

Please verify that both the user name and password are correct for your mail server."

I enter my user name and password and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it does work, it starts downloading emails from back in 2009.

Is this a problem at Gmail's end, as I haven't made any changes to my email account?

Thanks

Answer:Windows Mail and Gmail

I suggest you sign in to your gmail account via web browser and review your settings there. I'm also inclined to think you should change your password if you haven't recently done so.

In Windows Mail, do you have your gmail account set to "Leave a copy on the server"? That seems to be the way you have it set since it recently started downloading emails from back in 2009. So, in addition to signing in to gmail via web browser to check settings, check your settings in Windows Mail. If you have it set to "Leave a copy on the server" and that's not what you really want, then change it.

In deciding whether to change the setting in Windows Mail from "Leave a copy on the server" to not "Leave a copy on the server", consider whether you use only one computer to access your email. If you have it set to not "Leave a copy on the server", then downloading to Windows Mail deletes the messages from Google's mail server.

My computer is running Windows Vista Home Premium which includes Windows Mail. Since the program is already on the computer and listed on the compatible client list with setup instructions on the Gmail website, I followed the instructions for setup with one minor problem.

Is there a way to keep the program from downloading whole messages instead of just the headers? I've let it download several of the imap folders from the account over the last couple of days, off and on, and it's still not finished. I suppose downloading all the messages enables you to sort, view, and edit your e-mails even when your offline. I don't have that problem since I'm permanently connected to the internet so I don't need to download whole messages. All I have to do is click on a message and it loads in a minute at the most depending on message size etc. I don't need to have a fairly small hard drive loaded down with unneeded data.

If there's no way to stop the program from downloading whole messages, any recommendations for an alternate third party client that can be set to download only message headers?

I already have Thunderbird on another computer and was looking to try something different.

Thanks for your help!

Answer:Windows Mail with Gmail

this might help , but I am not certain it will apply to gmail which seems to use http mail protocol rather than Imap or pop by default & you need to make sure that gmail is set to either imap or pop before you stand a chance of doing it

Then read here for how to only download headershttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/...Mail-IMAP-accounts-frequently-asked-questions

I have several emails configured with the Windows 10 mail app.
I noticed that with my Outlook mails, in the configuration settings there was a place to tick 'use SSL'. However, with my gmail set up, it used the oauth 2.0 (where you get a web popup from gmail asking for credentials). After that, when configuring the gmail account in windows 10 mail there are no options for SSL. Is SSL used by default when using oauth 2.0 or is it not offered when using a 3rd party mail client with gmail? Thanks in advance for any input.

Windows Mail is just an e-mail client. It's not a provider. What account are you using Windows Mail with? You can add a POP3 e-mail account to Gmail by going into your account settings and then the Accounts and Import tab.

Answer:Windows Mail App says Gmail Needs Attention

Without getting into specifics, maybe the problem is not with Windows mail but with Gmail?

I use Gmail with my Windows mail and have never seen what you are describing.

I would start with and check your Gmail account to make sure everything is ok and secure with it, Gmail accounts are spoofed and hacked everyday if you don't have strong passwords on them, which could very well be the problem.

Hello everyone I am using Windows 8.1 x64. I would like to know how to add a gmail account to my Windows Mail app so that I can view my mail from there. Please note I do not and am using a Microsoft account to log into my pc. I am using a local account and want to keep it that way. Now I have followed the steps given here-:
Set up Mail and add contacts - Microsoft Windows

But I am unable to find Add Account when I click on settings. The Add Account option seems to be located in Settings

I'm using Windows 7, Internet Explorer 9, and Windows Live Mail via my Comcast.net e-mail server. I wish to continue to use WLM, but when my son visited several months ago, he installed Mozilla Firefox because that's the ISP he uses. He also installed his Gmail account and gave me a Gmail account as well (I never asked for it).

Fast forward: Until about a week ago, I never had any problems with my WLM, but I've recently noticed that I'm not receiving all my e-mails through WLM. I noticed this because I recently got an iPad 2 (e-mail is also set up for my Comcast account) and it was showing e-mails that were not showing up in WLM. This is also happening in reverse, i.e., e-mails appearing in WLM are not all showing up on my iPad.

So, I jumped over to Gmail and it was loaded with ALL my e-mails, past and current. Also, my Google calendar which I rely upon and which has always worked in Internet Explorer, is no longer loading and is in a redirect loop. However, if I go over to Firefox, Google calendar loads just fine and I can also load Google calendar on my iPad. When I tried to add my Comcast account to Gmail, it said it already exists.

I don't like the intrusions by Google and from all I've heard, they're not only famous for causing conflicts with other ISP's and e-mail programs, but they're also introducing upgrades to their system which makes intrusions even worse.

Hey Suriya,

You are on the right track here, except one thing. POP will only work for gmail when you are logged on to gmail (or any other google service with the same account) in your browser. In other words, even if you have it configured correctly, Windows Mail cannot connect with gmail without explorer (or firefox, or chrome, or whatever) being concurrently connected to google. If you look hard enough, this is in the gmail documentation, but it took me years to find it.

I'm assuming you are using WLM if so try this
In WLM go to tools then accounts click your WLM default account then properties then advanced in the window that appears and you should have this, check or uncheck leave mail on server then send yourself an Email and see if it works I hope this helps and works for you.

Hi everyone. I have a desktop at home with Windows 8.1 that I share with my wife. Recently I finally set up a Windows ID for her, using her gmail address, so she could have her own user account. That went smoothly and she can log in but I can not set up gmail in Windows mail on this computer. It keeps giving me an error which I don't remember specifically right now since I'm not at home. I also have a gmail account leftover from when I had a droid so I tried setting that up on my W8.1 laptop, just to see if I got the same error, and it added it fine, no problems! So I went back to the desktop and tried to add my gmail account under her user account and it didn't work, gave me the same error her email address was getting. Any idea why this might be? I checked my gmail account and surprisingly IMAP was disabled, but it added it on my laptop anyway. I know I won't be able to convince her to switch to Outlook.com, and that's not my intent, I just want her to be able to use and personalize the computer. Thanks in advance!

Answer:Setting Up Gmail In Windows Mail

Soo, I restarted my computer this morning and it worked fine. I though I had restarted it before to try and get it to work but it's possible I didn't. Just wanted to update this in case anyone else was wondering. Gmail set up fine, as well as the contacts after I let Msoft connect to the Gmail contact list.

Answer:Windows 10 mail app not working with gmail?

Join the club. All of a sudden I can't get any of my accounts (hotmail, gmail, yahoo) to sync using the mail app. I have no third-party firewall or antivirus; I tried re-registering the apps, deleting and re-adding accounts, adding an exception to the Windows firewall for svchost, you name it. Nothing works, and we're not alone.

No, it doesn't automatically do any sending/recieving unless you click the button. Works just like Outlook.

I have a microsoft account, that is registered to my gmail; That is the username is [email protected] When attempting to use the mail service in windows 10, that mail is already registered as an account. It reads " System error, can't get mail ", and that isn't very surprising because it seems to be registered as a hotmail account. If I go into its settings it is named "outlook mail" and has server "dub407-m.hotmail.com". It's quite easy to create a gmail account, but nothing shows still, and I suspect it's due to this account still being stuck with an error. It can't be deleted and don't seem to have the necessary pop3 and smtp settings for me to change and get it working. Anyone know how to sort this ?

on a new gmail account, unlike outlook account, you're allowed to go into advanced settings where you can set all these. But the primary account don't seem to be possible to change or delete :s

Answer:How do I get gmail to work on windows mail?

The only problem I had, was that my AVG firewall blocked access to the Gmail server. I had to add some rules to it and then Mail could get stuff from my Gmail account.

Maybe this is the same problem, although, I can't remember anything about Hotmail.com.

With my Gmail accounts, I have the following servers:

Code:
imap.gmail.com:993:1
smtp.gmail.com:465:1
www.google.com
apidata.googleusercontent.com

I hope this can help you!

Hi,

I am in the process of switching my internet service from Bell Dial Up to the Bell Turbo Hub. This new hub will allow me to receive high speed service in an area that is not currently offering high speed at speeds up to 7MB/S.
The problem is that I will have to change my email address when I cancel the dial up service. This means that I will need to set up a new email address in Hotmail or Gmail. I chose Gmail and have just set up a new account.

I also use Windows Live One mail as a resident client due to fact that I have many committees that I belong to and have a great deal of folders with correspondence I must keep. I have two questions;

1. Once I cancel my Bell Dial Up service will all of the emails filed in my folders in WLM be retained. I would think so because they are now on my hard Drive but I would appreciate some confirmation?

2. Can I set up Gmail in WLM to allow for continued filing of incoming emails to their respective folders? If so how do I do that?

Your help on this is greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.

As long as you don't delete the account from WLM and as long as WLM doesn't have some kind of serious problem and as long as a disk failure doesn't wipe them out. You do have at least one backup copy, right?

I set up a gmail account a couple of years ago (as a precaution when it looked like tiscali might die a sudden death). I've never really used it, but I've just tried sending a few emails and noticed that emails I send (using the gmail account) from Outlook Express then immediately appear in the Sent folder of the gmail webmail. Not only is this not what I want (as I have a copy in my OE Sent items), I find it rather odd given that gmail has a setting that removes received (Inbox) items from gmail webmail once they have been accessed with POP (e.g. downloaded to OE), so begs the question as to why gmail wants to keep copies of sent items.Or is there some setting in gmail that I haven't been able to locate?

I'm trying to archive my emails through the Win10 built-in mail app, but it doesn't archive, although it says "Archived".
It doesn't archive on the app, nor on the gmail. If I archive the email manually through the website or mobile app, the W10 Mail app shows accordingly.
I've tried reinstalling Windows, but this didn't help. Any clues?

Answer:Why isn't my Windows 10 Mail app archiving GMail mails?

I have the same problem in all my W10 PCs and the mobile insider. Mail app's Archive has never done anything, but it always shows the "Archived" at the bottom. The reason I use Metromail is because I NEED the archiving function, without it the mail app is mostly useless to me, even though it has nice new features.
Has anyone figured out what is going on?

What I want to know is how can I delete messages from my windows live account in gmail so that they actually delete in my windows live account as well.

Thanks.

Solution- check your firewall settings.

Hello!

Am using Windows Mail to access my Gmail account (using IMAP) - all has been working fine until a few days ago. Now when I send a message in Windows Mail it appears to have been sent twice when I check my gmail?

At the moment I have got IMAP set to save sent messages on the server. Someone told me that I shouldn't have this as gmail already saves them. But when I set it not to save sent messages on the server, I don't have a record of my sent messages in the 'Sent Mail' folder on Windows Mail??

If I send an email (using Windows Mail) it doesn't appear in the 'Sent Mail' folder. But it is the 'Sent Mail' folder in Gmail?

Please help!!

When I click "archive" in my Gmail account in the Windows 10 mail app, nothing happens. It says "archived" at the bottom of the email list, but other than that I cannot see any action taken. The email in question stays in the message pane and does not vanish. Answer:Windows 10 mail app with Gmail - Archive does not work

I've just noticed something similar in the Mobile version of the mail app (on Windows Phone) - in this, swiping to archive removes the mail from the view in the app, but when I go to Gmail on the web, the mails that I'd "archived" are still there.
I seem to recall in the old days, "delete" in Windows Phone actually archived the mails in Gmail (there was some way to set this on the Gmail side). Maybe we need to "delete" and not archive after all.
[Update - maybe not; deleting on my phone really does seem to delete in Gmail...]

Gmail
Inbox
Sent Items

Drafts
Junk E-mail

All Mail
Drafts
Sent Mail
Spam
Starred
Trash
[Imap]
Deleted Items
Deleted Messages

I received a Surface tablet for xmas and am having a problem with (ironically enough) my gmail account that I use for reported posts here at Major Geeks. rolleyes

So here is the issue:

None of the links on my Surface that come from MGs in my gmail account are clickable. They come as plain text that I have to copy and paste in my browser. I don't have any issues if I access the emails directly through gmail or if I access them through Outlook on my computer.

I understand that a Surface is not a true computer, but it acts as one. I can access the registry and it has a windows desktop as well.

Can anyone come up with a reason why my links would not work in this one account? (they are all MG links, btw)

I use my personal gmail and it's fine.

Also, I started this over on the MS site: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...kable-on/7e9c2808-83f2-4009-a6ec-6f309e31144d One of the suggestions was forwarding it to another account and accessing the email that way. As soon as I forward it to my outlook.com account, the links work.

I did find this link, but am reluctant to just go and delete stuff from my registry when I don't know what it's doing: http://www.eightforums.com/browsers-mail/11072-hyperlinks-stopped-working-windows-8-mail-app.html

Can someone look at that and tell me if it makes sense?

Sorry for the long post, but this is driving me nuts. Yes, I can come up with solutions that skirt around this issue, like forwarding the emails to another emai... Read more

Answer:Gmail Hyperlinks not clickable in Mail app (Windows RT on Surface)

LauraR,

Congrats on the new Christmas present. Sorry to hear about your problems with email.

The problem that you describe is caused by like of support for certain email protocols in the Win8 email app. The new email app is designed to encourage syncing with other devices, and is designed as such in Win8.

This is an explanation of what the CLSID key does that the poster in the Win8 forums mentioned deleting, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms724475(v=vs.85).aspx. This key forces the user to use the default settings defined by the OS.

I can't see any harm in doing what he suggested, as long as you back up your registry first.

Hope this helps!

Hi there. I have tried to configure Windows Live mail for Gmail. The program is successfully receiving mail but not sending. The error message I am getting is:

The connection to the server has failed.

Subject 'test'
Server: 'smtp.gmail.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): Yes
Socket Error: 10061

Try using your ISP's SMTP mail server. It should be something like smtp.yourisp.com.

I am adding my gmail account to the Mail program and I am afraid to give Windows permission to:
View, manage, and permanently delete your mail in Gmail
Create, update, and delete labels
Compose and send new email
View your settings (e.g., filters and labels)
What does it mean by 'create and delete' labels, and 'compose and send' new email?
And it keeps telling me my Yahoo settings are out of date. Then it sends me back to "Windows would like to" page. Help?

Create delete and compose new mails means the MAIL functions; YOU give app permissions to them, so YOU can compose delete create etc. etc.
Apps need your explicit permission for let you making all single thing they made
Common request in all o.s. (Droids, iStuffs ...)

I'm setting up a new windows 10 tablet for my parents for them to hopefully be able to complete some work on. Email is really important for them and they have an xtra email (pop3) which has been used on their desktop for years. I tried setting it up on the mail app already loaded on the tablet and followed instructions on their help site, doing an advanced set up and I can only read new emails as they come in that haven't been read by the desktop computer.

I also tried linking a gmail account to the app to see if this had the same problem and it did, only emails that were unread by the desktop computer could be read on the app.

Is there any way to fix this? I have played around with the sync settings on both accounts and it hasn't made a difference. I am thinking of using online Gmail if this can't be helped and forwarding emails from the desktop to the tablet. Help appreciated thanks.

Answer:Trouble setting up pop3 mail and gmail on windows 10 tablet

A POP email account means the emails have to be downloaded somewhere and removed from the server.

Going through Gmail gives you an option to store them on Gmail's servers.

Where do you want them stored?

An IMAP email account would be better since then the emails would be stored on a central server accessible by any computer or device.

This is the first time I'm trying to send a link from a news article using Vista and Windows Mail via my gmail account. Here are my questions! When the setup wizard pops up...what do I enter for the following:

1. Incoming email server type?

2. Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server?

3. Outgoing email server (SMTP) name?

Thanks in advance!

My Desktop OS is Win 10 Pro and my mobile is LUMIA 550 with 10 OS. In Both, the mails sent from gmail account does not show up in the Sent Item(Folder itself not seen) nor syncing. It would be of great support for people on the go to check what is sent and read out for reference.
Anyone has solution, come out please

Hello guys, i hope it's the right place to ask about my problem with windows 10 mail app.

after i read some of the post's here:
Windows 10 Mail app stops recieving mail as it arrives. - Windows 10 Forums
Windows Mail/Gmail Problem - Windows 10 Forums

but i still not found any answer to my issue.

i use mail app for long time after i move to windows 10.

i tried some of thing i found to do, like: re-install app , delete windows permission in google , re-add account, play with the settings inside the app -- but nothing help!!!

the mail app don't want to sync my gmail automatically , it's work only manually, i don't know if it's matter but i use two step verification.

the interesting think that my outlook account work and update by himself with out any problem.

i think this app need some fix it's work before so why not now?

for testing i try to use mailbird -- work awesome!!

i get the emails on my phone too so it's not google issue -- it's windows 10 issue!!!

what i can do to fix that????

I keep getting this error when sending/receiving email with Vista Mail?
Header download for the '[Gmail]' folder did not complete. Could not select '[Gmail]' on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your folder list to synchronize with the IMAP server. Account: 'Gmail', Server: 'imap.gmail.com', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Unknown Mailbox: [Gmail] (Failure)', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCCD2

I've changed the port numbers around and on gmails website for setting this up isn't exactly clear on what the port numbers are.

So I remember noticing something like this in the previews, but now that I'm running RTM it's still there and bugging me:

SOME of my Gmail accounts seems to connect via an appropriate protocol that supports Push, adding "as items arrive" to the list of download frequency, and removing the outgoing and incoming server fields from the bottom of the settings. Others, meanwhile, appear to be auto-configured as basic IMAP accounts, and therefore are limited to 15 minutes as the lowest frequency of checking.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, beyond POSSIBLY the fact that the first two accounts I set up both got proper push configuration, while the later ones didn't. One's a straight gmail.com, the other is a Google Apps account. Meanwhile I deleted the Google Apps account from it along with another gmail.com and then added back the gmail.com and it still configured it using standard IMAP, and yet included "as items arrive" in the dropdown. And now it's giving me timeouts when I try to add back the Google Apps account I removed.

Anyone else having similar experiences, and can anyone else confirm what the limit seems to be, or a possible workaround?

EDIT: After a system restart the Google Apps account I was trying to add back finally appeared. It's no longer available for "as items arrive," though, and the second account I re-added after deleting it still has "as items arrive" as an option. Meanwhile it appears that the se... Read more

Answer:Limit to number of proper Gmail accounts in Windows Mail app?

An update, FYI: I've since found that I can change, willy-nilly, which two accounts have access to "As items arrive" by taking one of the ones that currently has it OFF of it and down to a longer option. It'll then make the option available to all other accounts until I set it, at which point the rest get limited.

Strange and disappointing. I'd like to know the technical limitations behind this.

I would appreciate some help getting mail sent to my Gmail account to my WLM account. I have performed all tasks needed in GMAIL and got my WLM to allow Gmail to forward those emails. I even have a message in GMAIL banner stating that "You are forwarding your email to [email protected]" but my WLM account is not getting any emails.

I have sent emails to myself in GMAIL and they are forwarded to my WLM account.

Hi there. Trying to figure out why Windows Mail is not consistent with receiving mail. I've got three email accounts. One of them is gmail. Each email accounts has the check mark 'leave copy on server'. For two the system works fine (Yahoo Plus and a generic POP account). When I receive mail from gmail, it deletes it on the server even though it's marked to leave a copy on the server. Also, it is set up as POP, not as IMAP. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Windows Mail doesn't leave copy on gmail server

You have 2 computers XP and 7. Do you have the same problem on both? If it is only on Win 7 and if you are using the supported client "Windows Live Mail" (not "Windows Mail") then there is a problem with WLM. If that is the case, you could try doing a repair of Windows Live Essentials via Programs and Features. It will repair all the components of Live Essentials you have already installed, including Mail.
