network icon taskbar icon not showing right

Question: network icon taskbar icon not showing right

ever since my last factory restore my network icon shows i am in a local access only but i have access to the web, like right now i am on this forum but my computer says i only have access to the internal network. i asked this question in the newsgroup and they said to make sure the services for the network were put down as automatic and that they were started, this is the reply i got:

Double check to make sure that you have the have the Services "Network
Connections", "Network List Service", "Network Location Awareness", and
"Network Store Interface Service" set to Started and Automatic. If these
are not, then it can cause the Network icon to not function properly.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

well he was partially right, there was something not running and one of them was manual. but it still does the same thing, hope someone can help me. also it seems to occur mostly when my aircard is connected, it is pcmcia btw. it is from t-mobile and i disabled the wifi antenna on the air card since my laptop already has one and it (aircard wifi) is being a pain because it is trying to connect even tho my laptop antenna is connected, which it's why it is disabled.

edit: my apology i wasn't aware that the newsgroup and forum where interconnected but the issue is still not fixed, hope someone else has an idea

Preferred Solution: network icon taskbar icon not showing right

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've tried everything to get it back. In my network connections, it only shows my local area connection. I can't connect to a wireless network, and my wifi light on my keyboard isn't even lit.
I don't have any switches or buttons on my keyboard either that would allow me to enable or disable wireless internet.
I do have a wireless card built into my computer, and I have been able to connect to wireless networks for the three years that I've owned this laptop. It basically just stopped working a few weeks ago.
By the way, it's Windows XP. Anyone have any idea how to get my Wifi back?

I have a toolbar on my taskbar titled "Programs". It has about eight folders in it. I made another toolbar, and placed it directly adjacent to the Programs toolbar, to obscure the eight folders and force it to be a dropdown menu.

Trouble is, as soon as I lock my taskbar, right next to the arrow that displays the eight items of my Programs toolbar in menu-form, one of the eight items is showing up as an icon, as if the other toolbar isn't close enough to the Programs toolbar in order to completely obscure the eight items.

Here's what I mean in graphic form:

It's bugging me to no end. Anyone else had this problem/resolved it?

Answer:Toolbar on taskbar should only be showing an arrow but is showing icon

Hello thewonkits, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I notice this happens when using small icons for a toolbar. If you like, you could unlock the taskbar, right click on the dotted separator line to the left of the two top far left toolbars (one at a time) click on View and Large Icons, then lock the taskbar to see if that may look ok to you. It will make the top row a bit bigger though.

Hopefully someone may know a better way to hide that bit of icon poking out when locked.

Hi, I have Windows Vista 64 bit. Every so often an icon named "FFU" on the bottom right of my taskbar appears and then disappears. It sometimes coincides when I'm watching a video in VLC.

I've clicked on FFU before it disappeared and a list of options appear. One of the 20 options was crop. Then it disappears. Is FFU a program of somekind? is it spyware or a virus? I'm getting really curious as to what this is.

I have malwarebytes anti-malware and Avast Virus protection installed. I have scanned my system with Adaware and Spybot search and Destroy but nothing was found. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Answer:FFU Icon showing up in Taskbar. What is it?

Probably FFDshow. It shouldn't be appearing when VLC is running. In fact, that seems pretty impossible. But either way, it's a set of codecs that's second to none.

Hello, I found this website while looking for help on this matter.

I noticed that, on the family computer, sometimes this weird icon shows up on the taskbar. When I right click it, it shows options to add keys, but I don't know if someone has access to the PC because of it or if it is triggered to open by something on the computer itself and is harmless.

I don't understand much about it. How can I get rid of this PuTTY? I can't find it if look it up on the PC, as suggested in this thread I found: https://forums.techguy.org/threads/putty-rnd-shows-up-in-my-files.826903/#post-6714012

The icon is a (blue & yellow)shield.
When I click the icon, the window of the program appeared with a line of text “Google Update is requesting your permission”, and “Yes” and ”No” buttons.
Nothing happened when I clicked either Yes or No button.
Run anti-virus program(Norton) did not find virus.
My question:
Is this a virus or real Google update request?
If it’s a virus, what damage it may cause?

On windows 8.1, my taskbar, one day, suddenly stopped displaying the audio icon on the taskbar. When I right click it, go to the properties, and click customize, it doesn't show the audio icon as an option. When I click, "turn system icons on or off," I can see the audio icon, but it is locked to off. I don't know where to look from here.

Answer:[SOLVED] Not Showing Audio Icon On Taskbar

Method 1:
There is no option available in control panel volume settings to show volume icon like earlier operating system. In Windows 8 and 8.1 you can enable volume icon by modifying ?Turn system icons on or off? option.
Right click on or near time clock in notification area and select Properties.

Make sure Volume icon is set ?On? as shown below, if it were off, make it on to show volume icon.

If the above step hasn?t help, ?Restore default icon behaviors? which may bring back the missing icon.

This is the normal procedure to get back the volume icon. In case the Volume icon option ( on/off) grayed out and you can?t change it, then follow the method 2.

Method 2: If volume icon is missing and you can?t enable it from ?Turn system icons on or off? area, then that could be an issue with explorer process. The following two methods can solve the issue.
a) Kill the explorer.exe from Processes or Details tab under task manager. Find out all explorer.exe and kill them, make sure no explorer.exe is running in the task manager. After that, on the file menu select new process or Run (or new tasks), type ?explorer? and press OK. It will start the new explorer process. That should bring back the volume icon, if it hasn?t, redo the method 1

This method has brought back missing volume icon on my Windows 8.1 computer.
b) Registry modification- Its recommended to take a backup before modifying registry.

For some reason FireFox doesnt want me to use my own icon for it in the taskbar. ill change the icon, pin it to the taskbar, click the new icon and itll open up a new firefox default icon on the taskbar so there will be 2.

anyway around this?

Answer:FireFox Taskbar Icon, Makes Duplicate Taskbar Icon's

Let's fix the duplicate icon first, open Firefox from the pinned icon you have already after the second one opens up unpin the first one and pin the second one that should stop the duplicate icon.

Now the icon go to C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar then right-click on the Firefox shortcut click on properties make sure you're in the Shortcut tab and click on the Change Icon Button. After you open up Firefox again icon will revert back to the default icon because it opens up Firefox.exe you would have to change the icon in the .exe for a permanent change.

Hi Guys.

About 2 weeks ago the Explorer icon on the Taskbar where you can pin up to 12 shortcuts started randomly disappearing causing me to drag 'n drop them again. After about the 5th or 6th time of them disappearing and replacing them I am now only able to pin 4. I've installed no additional software during the period in which this error started appearing except a Windows Update released on June 10th, which I might add, the random disappearance of those Pinned icons had been happening. It wasn't until the 16th that it would no longer allow me to pin more than 4.

Does anyone here know where in the registry this setting is created so I can fix it to use 12 again instead of 4? I've searched the registry for Explorer Pinned, Taskbar Pinned, Taskbar Frequent, etc., all to no avail.

Here is a screenshot of what I'm speaking:

Before the 16th I could put 12 Pinned shortcuts and then they just stopped.

Thank you in advance.

I'm having a big problem. I screwed something up with my taskbar and I can't undo it.

I logged on as usual. An annoying message popped up at the lower right corner of the desktop, above, not in, the taskbar, alerting me to something I should download and install that I have no intention of downloading and installing. In the past, each time I've logged on and this message has appeared, I have simply clicked on "cancel" or just clicked the X at its upper right corner. But this time, I must have taken leave of my senses! Instead of just right clicking the X in its right corner, I clicked something else on it and a message window popped up. That message window advised me to either "download" the irrelevant auxiliary toolbar I have no need of and will not download and install, or click "cancel". But it also offered me the chance to click a checkbox next to "do not show this message again on taskbar". At least that's what I recall it said. So I clicked on that, in an attempt to keep it from popping up every time I logged on (removing the annoying message from the action center each time it popped up upon logon never had the effect of preventing it from popping up again the next time I logged on, which is why I tried this "do not show ..." choice this time).

But once I did that, I found I am no longer able to make two things work on my desktop taskbar with the customary left clicks.

It no longer does ... Read more

I think this issue is also causing fullscreen flash vids to show the taskbar and a loading circle on the cursor... also Battlefield 4 likes to get a black screen then when i alt-tab i'm back to the game without any crashing or any error besides this ominous

Hi all,

This question is specifically for users of Toshiba Portege Z30s. Mine doesn't show a network icon in the taskbar so I was wondering if another Toshiba app is supposed to manage the network. Also, nothing happens when I go to Control Panel - Network and Internet - Connect to a Network.

https://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums//thread.jspa?threadID=81599

According to forum rules, its recommended to follow the discussion on one thread to avoid misunderstandings.

By the way: I guess this is an software issue and mostly system recovery solves such software issues.

I have two computers that I want run on a wireless network. They are a Sony VAIO (laptop) and a desktop. Both are running Windows 7 Professional.

My cable modem is a Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 (combination modem and router) and my network adapter device is a MediaLink-N USB 2.0 Adapter.

The modem is working and I can get email and web sites. Also, the Sony laptop is seeing it and can also get email and web sites so it appears that the modem is working. Motorola said that the modem and router are both OK.

The problem is with the network icon on the lower taskbar. There is none on the desktop but the laptop does have one. Motorola said that there is an icon somewhere on the desktop computer but did not know how to find it. They called it a "cell phone signal bar". It is an icon with five vertical bars that start out on the left side (short) and end on the right side (long).

I did a Google search for "cell phone signal bar" and did not have much luck. Most of the responses had to do with cell phones and none of the hits addressed this problem.

Is there another name for this icon?

It has run every day since I installed the modem but is not working today

Any suggestions on how to recover this icon? .

Thanks

Even when I am connected to a network (my home router) the icon always stats "Not Connected" when I put the mouse over it. This bugs me as it used to always say "Connected to a network" before. Anybody have this problem?

Answer:Network Icon in taskbar always says "not connected" when...

Windows + R. Type cmd. Type ping google.com. Can you ping without crashing. Odds when it says its not connect, it implies that theres some issue with the TCP/IP stack. You can connect on-line without any issues?

has suddenly started showing as not connected..even when it is (well I'm typing this on this laptop so it most defo IS connected!) It's not a major problem but it is irritating. I looked at the 'hide notification' options and it appears my icon has no title! Not sure if it should, or previously did, but I'd like the icon to tell me when it's connected!

Any ideas?!

OK, I know I'm little nuts... aren't we all?... but this has been bugging me since I installed Vista and maybe you guys know if there's anything I can do about it.

It's the network activity icon near the clock... I much prefer to know the exact activity of my PC and the internet/network PC.... in WinXP this icon would flash in tune with which computer was doing the "talking". This helped me many times figure out if it was an issue on my end or on the internet end depending on how the lights would flash. Not exact, but I used it as a quick guide.

...but in Vista, the icon seems to just have a simple animation that repeats over and over (I've turned on "enable activity animation).

The icon has gone from something usefull (telling me which computer was sending data... to just being a simple animation that only animates when there's overall network activity.

So.... anyway if getting the older more acurate activity animation back?... or would this require a third party download now?

Thanks for any tips,
TK.

Answer:Network activity taskbar icon...

Hi Teknomedic,

Yeah, that bugged me to. The most accurate way to view network activity it to use Task Manager. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc and click on the Networking tab in Task Manager.

You might be able to find a Windows Sidebar Gadget for it to.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

For some reason, when if I right-click on the taskbar and select properties - turn system icons on and off -, the network icon is greyed out..

How can I enable it?

What I've tried so far:

Hello, I am new to SevenForums

Anyway so up until the beginning of the month my networking tray icon was working fine, showing the bars that show for WiFi and stuff... but now it just shows the LAN connection icon with a red "X" on top of it...

System Specs

Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1

AMD E-350 Processor 1.60 GHz

Answer:Tray Icon for Network always showing a red X?

Lets try flushing DNS cache and renewing your IP.

Flush the DNS cache and restore MS's Hosts file ...
Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Right click on the flush.bat file to run it as Administrator.

Your computer will reboot itself.

This just started recently where the task bar shows the ethernet icon with the red x and I'm not connected to ethernet but WiFi and I have a WiFi connection. Any idea how to correct this wrong icon issue?

Answer:Win 7 showing wrong network icon

Why is it a wrong icon? If you don't have anything plugged into the ethernet port, then it's by definition disconnected. If it really bothers you, hide the icon or disable the interface.

And seriously, don't fucking bump your post after 30 minutes for a ridiculously trivial issue. You'd expect with 10 years experience on these forums that you'd have better sense.

Hello.

I have recently clean installed Windows 10 CU. I am testing Windows 10 in a dual boot scenario with my Windows 7 installation. I have done about a dozen installs but this is the first time this problem has occurred.

The Network Icon shows up in the system tray.
If I hover over it I can see "Internet Access".
If I right Click it I get two options: Troubleshoot Problems and Open Network and Sharing Center.
If I left click it nothing happens. I don't see the list of known networks.

I have access to my home network and the Internet - no issues there - I just can't get the list of networks when I left click the icon.

I've tried disabling/enabling it. Damned if I can figure out why this is happening.

I'm using classic shell for my start menu, but I've been using that on all tests and this problem did not present on any of the other times I did a clean install.

It's not my security software - I haven't gotten that far. At present I've got office, a few authoring programs, Macrium reflect and OpenVPN installed.

I don't know if the is specific to Windows 10 as I've seen a couple of posts on google about the same issue on Windows 7, but none with solutions.

At Windows 7, I created 3 program shortcuts which execute same executable. Then I changed icons for second shortcut and third shortcut. When I launched the executable from the second and third shortcut, the taskbar icon of the executable will be that of the shortcut icon instead of the executable MainForm icon. In XP and Vista, it will use MainForm icon in the taskbar. Is this the intended behaviour of Windows 7?

Currently, my OneDrive icon is sitting in the 'hidden icons' section. I have seen pictures of the icon sitting on the taskbar next to Edge, the store, and all the other taskbar icons... how do you get that icon on the taskbar? I have tried all the normal ways I can think of (click and drag onto taskbar, going into taskbar settings, etc) but I can't get it to be removed from the hidden icons area. Anyone know of a way? Could this have been something that was tested in the TP and changed for the RTM version?

Recently my battery icon disappeared on my taskbar and in its place is a blank spot. When I turned the power icon display off and back on, the space went away and reappeared. I turned my Wifi icon display off and back on and where the wifi icon once appeared, the battery icon displayed and a blank space appeared next to it where the wifi icon would be displayed. I've included two screenshots to show my issue: Is there anything else I can do other than a system restore to a previous version? Answer:Taskbar network icon missing ( greyed out)

When "Diagnostic Policy Service" is not running, Windows fails to detect working network.
It is not really a problem, but you can not login to MS account or use some apps because of that.
Download WNn.bat and run it as admin. It resets network services and hopefully enables network icon.

Answer:Can I add Network (Ethernet and WIFI) icon to taskbar?

Hello Peter,

You should be able to turn on the Network icon for your taskbar in your System Icons settings below.
System Icons - Turn On or Off - Windows 7 Help Forums
If you mean the Charms bar (black bar on right that slides in), then click on the Settings charm to see the Network icon at the top right corner of the bottom section.
Charms Bar - Open in Windows 8

If you like, here's a shortcut below that opens directly to the Networks flyout.

in the tray at the right hand bottom side of the screen, I usually have my Wireless internet Icon. and its just suddenly disappeared. I am still connected to the internet, but I like to see my connection speed and strength. I have no idea how to get it back there. I've tried going to show all connections -> then right clicking my wireless, then propeties, and turning on "show icon in notification area when connected", that dosen't work. I've also tried the classic drag and drop method, but it wont let me drop it into the right-hand side. The icon just isn't there anymore, its driving me insane. I can still see it in network places, but i want it back in the tray (i'm sure this seems abit silly to some people). Anyone got any suggestions?

start > run > type REGEDIT > click ok > then HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and delete the file called jucheck its location thing should be "%System%\dllcache\jucheck.exe" the restart your computer then delete the rest of the pict files ... Read more

everything was working fine earlier today. I was playing GTA V online so I was definitely connected. when I exited the game, the network icon on the taskbar was gone. if I open the Notification Center and click network from there no available networks show up. in my settings, the network icon is toggled on. something really bizarre is that before signing in, if I click on the network icon at the bottom of the screen, all the available networks show up, but if I try clicking one, it takes forever to connect and then tells me my access is limited. this is really frustrating as I've spent the last 3 hours looking on my phone for solutions, none of which have worked. any response would be greatly appreciated

I also thought I'd mention that under Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center there is a heading titled "Unknown" and under it read "the dependency service or group failed to start"

Answer:Can't connect to networks. Network icon on taskbar missing.

Try clicking on Start then on the Power button and choose Restart. A full restart from cold is often a quick cure for 'odd' problems like this. A 'shut down' may not be sufficient if 'fast start up' is enabled (which it is by default).

Answer:Windows XP take too long to display network Icon in taskbar

You might describe exactly what services you disabled. Not sure what you mean by "re-disable" some services! If you disable a service it no longer works if you "re-enable" a service it operates once again. Your terminology needs working on too.

Answer:network works fine. but no connection icon in taskbar

Is this a wired or wireless connection? It's probably a second network adapter that isn't in use right now.
Post the following.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Hello, so this problem has happened to me before, and it's gone away before, but now it's back and it's staying for longer than it has previously. So the first thing I noticed is that in the bottom right on the toolbar, my network icon has the loading symbol around it. It doesn't go away unless I right click on it, in which case it shows that I'm not connected to a network. I can still open and run my browser, however pages like pandora or youtube don't load. Any program that connects online (such as games), and some that don't, refuses to open. I can't open Network and Sharing Center, or any page in Control Center for that matter. I also can't run any troubleshooters. I've tried restarting my computer in various safe modes including with command prompt, where I ran sfc /scannow. This brought up a message saying that some files were corrupted but could not be fixed. I also restored my computer to a previous time when my computer was working fine, and that fixed the problem until I restarted my computer the next day, when the problem returned. I know it's not my network that is the problem, my wifi works fine and I've double checked all the cables to my modem, router, and the Ethernet cable which I tried switching out. Sorry for such a long post and thank you to anyone who took the time to read it, also thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some advice.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Please right click the existing shortcut and click on Unpin this program from the Taskbar,
If you also have a shortcut on your desktop right click and delete it as well,
Close all open ie windows,

Click Start and click on All Programs If ie is also listed as your recently opened programs right click it and Remove from list,

Click on All Programs,
See if ie has a shield on that listing if not Open and right click it on the taskbar and Pin to Taskbar,
Cheers.

Ok, this just happened recently and I don't know what is causing it. I'll try to give u a brief overview of the situtation I'm in. XP used to be on my D driver (74gigs), it got screwed up (BSOD) at the time, I didn't know as much computers, so I installed XP to my C driver (4 gigs). This has worked pretty fine up until when SP2 was released. I can't install SP2 because XP takes up about 4 gigs by itself. Without SP2 I just have been running some extra firewalls so compensate.

Well about 4 days ago, I noticed whenever I open up my computer it takes like 7 or 8 seconds before the hard drivers appear. Then I went into network connections to look at my internet icon (to check the settings). I opened it up and nothing was there. The only thing there was on the far left it was asking me if I wanted to setup a network ( my internet is working on all the computers). I have ran 2 different spyware scans and found nothing, ran mcaffee scans and nothing. I can't restore my computer because all the restores got deleted when I was trying to free space on my drives.

Where do I go, usually I can solve tech problems but I mean this is beyond weird? What do I do first, if you need more information just ask because I really need some advice.

This is a problem that started with the last windows update (which included an update for my wireless network adapter which I have since rolled back).

My setup is as follows: I have a dual band router. The 5Ghz band's SSID is (for example) Testg and the2.4 Ghz band's SSID is Testg2.

When I click on the network status icon and hover over the Testg connection, it shows the SSID as Testg2. When I go into the Manage Wireless Networks and open the properties for this connection, it shows the SSID as Testg.

I have fooled around with renaming the connections as all of a sudden one showed up as Test 2 3 with the SSID of Testg

Currently I have three connections listed in manage networks: Testg, Testn, and Test2. Testg and Testn (Testg was previously Test 2 3 renamed Testg) and Testn (previously named Testg renamed to Testn so I could rename Test 2 3) both show the SSID being Testg. The Test2 connection shows the SSID of Testg2.

Looking at this information by left clicking and hovering over the connections on the network status icon, they show as follows: Testg shows an SSID of Test2, Testn shows an SSID of Testg, and Test2 shows an SSID of Testg2.

Why is the SSID different for the same connection depending on where I look at it and is there a fix for this?

Thanks.

bruce

Answer:Network status icon and manage networks icon show different SSID

Well, due to other issues (thank you Cnet download for installing all kinds of malware on my computer with the program I was trying to get), I had to use a system restore to get rid of something that took over my computer and it also fixed this issue. I used a restore point from before the Windows update that I installed.

Hi,

After I updated to the latest Windows 10 "upgrade" (Build 1511, 10586) released yesterday thru Windows Update, my system shows only the Wi-Fi icon on Taskbar instead of the Ethernet Network icon which it used to display earlier. I have a wired broadband connection, and keep my Wi-Fi Adapter settings "Disabled". Yet, the icon shows the Aeroplane mode of Wi-Fi icon on Taskbar, instead of the Network icon it used to display before this update. At times my wired BB connection tends to become unstable, so I need to keep track if the connection is down, before I do some critical activity on Internet, like large download (which I may be unable to Resume), or Netbanking or online shopping, etc.
How do I get the Network icon instead of the Wi-Fi icon on the Taskbar in the new Build 1511 ?

Thanks
Ramesh

Answer:Network icon disappeared from Taskbar after Windows Update 1511 10586

Navigate to Settings>System>Notifications and actions.
Click on Turn system Icons on or off.
Check if the Network icon is turned off

You know, the small icon that appears in your taskbar when connecting a USB device? It no longer shows up, so now I have to go to Windows Explorer and click "Eject" directly on the USB device. How can I have this icon re-appear?

It's the one that let's you select your USB device to "Safely remove device".

Answer:"Remove USB Device" Icon not showing up in taskbar

happened to me quite a few times on my laptop ...

if it is not just 'hidden', try this

Start, Run, paste this line and click OK:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

This will bring up the add remove wizard. When I did this, it actually put the icon back in my task bar as soon as I removed my USB drive.

As you can see, it's not very smooth. The white curved lines have bluish spots inside. When I first installed Windows 10 on a virtual hard disk (vhd), nvidia drivers for my gtx 760 installed automatically by Windows 10 and the icon was very smooth. Later, I had to do a fresh install of Windows 10 on a Samsung Evo SSD and this time, it didn't install my graphics card driver automatically, I had to download it from nvidia's website. Anyway, how can I improve the look of this icon and make it smooth?

Wish I had a better title, but I wasn't sure how to word this.

Basically what's happening is I have 2 instances of Firefox (different versions and different folder locations) and one of the instances is not opening where it's icon location is.

Example Screenshot:
As you can see. The far left instance does not want to open where it's icon location is.
The far right version always does it.
Even if I unpin the currently working instance (blue/orange icon) to only house 1 firefox instance (grey/black), the grey/black instance will still not open like the blue/orange instance current does (in it's own icon).
Hopefully this isn't confusing for anyone. I searched for a few terms to see if anyone had this problem and nothing came up, maybe I wasn't wording my searches correctly.

Hopefully someone can give some insights.
Thanks.

Answer:Firefox "Pin to Taskbar" icon wont open in it's own icon.

right click the taskbar
pick properties
open the Taskbar tab

What is set for Taskbar buttons?
You could try Always combine, hide labels
