Preferred Solution: Get microsoft works 8 stopped working.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I got the typical Microsoft Works has stopped working message and then downloaded the KB933828.msp , which was supposed to fix the problem. This seems to be fine for the spreadsheet, but the tool I use the most, the calendar, continues to not work and I get the standard Stopped Working message. What to do? Thanx

My dad is using Microsoft Works 7.0 on his Windows Vista laptop and for some reason the Calendar has randomnly stopped working.
Everytime I try to open the calendar I get this message;

I have tried reinstalling the program but it still shows that message.

Any idea how to get it to work again or what might be causing the problem?

Many thanks.

Answer:Microsoft Works 7.0 Calendar randomnly stopped working...

Anyone?

I don't think it's actually uninstalling Works completely because when I reinstall it the history in Works is still there...

Hiya,

first of all i will say i am only on my 2nd computer so im not exactly a brainbox on them.
I have a Satellite L300-1G8 with microsoft vista home premium 32bit.

I have only had this laptop for less than 2 months today when i was using microsoft works suite, word processor it suddenly shut down, i reloaded a document that it had auto saved and then closed it.
When i tried to open another blank document it let me do it but it wouldnt let me paste on what i needed.
Now i cant seem to open anything in microsoft works and if i try i get the message:
+"A PROBLEM CAUSED THE PROGRAMME TO STOP WORKING CORRECTLY. WINDOWS WILL CLOSE THE PROGRAMME AND NOTIFY YOU IF A SOLUTION IS AVAILABLE".+

What is this and why wont it work?
I have not used it much in fact i think it might be the first time. I have been on the microsoft site and its all greek to me, anyway the bit i did understand was it said "if your windows was pre installed go to Toshiba" or words to that effect.

I have been on the Toshiba site and thats all greek too. I dont understand any of it and i cant seem to find any help from them, the only help i can find is this site with all you clever people on solving our problems out for us.
So can you help, in simple language please.

Thank you. Julia :D

Answer:Satellite L300-1G8 - Microsoft Works Suite has stopped working

The problem could be hardware or software. For example bad RAM may have caused file corruption.

You can test the RAM using memtest from http://www.memtest.org
Its a bootable CD that runs in DOS.

Have you tried reinstalling Works?
Also try repairing the File system by running "CHKDSK C: /F" at a command prompt.

If its still crashing after that, you may need to backup your data and run Recovery from your Recovery Discs or from the HDD. The Users Manual should have Recovery instructions.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I've been looking for a solution to this problem for about a week and have seen several similar problems but nothing seems to work.

There are two computers in the house, (both Compaq running XP) both connected to the internet the same way. (that is to say same phone line, modem, router). There is no file or printer sharing, everything is wired and the configuration hasn't changed for months.

Anyway all of the sudden on the PC that's giving me problems,(aka Cardarn Jr.) started coming up with Firefox's "server not found" error, and IE7 reports "page cannot be displayed" I took the my usual actions of letting the modem and router rest for a while before I started troubleshooting. I plugged Cardarn Jr. straight into the modem and got the same results I ran the ISP's support tools and it reported that everything was fine (and since this PC works, I'm inclined to agree.) I used the modems diagnostics and it also reported everything to be fine (speedstream modem provided by ISP) I can ping myself (127.0.0.1) and google from the command prompt and the modem's diag tools. Also if I enter a sites IP address Firefox will show the page, but no links will work.

So far I have looked at ipconfig /all and it says

Primary DNS suffix:
Node Type: Hybrid
IP Routing enabled: No
Wins Prox enabled: No

Hey, After removing the palm rest and reinstalling it (trying to fix a non working mouse pad/tracking issues, which failed too)I'm now with another problem. This laptop is falling apart. My monitor now does not display anything, everything stays black. The backlid works. If I connect it to the tv via hdmi out, it will display properly on the tv, and when I try to set multi monitor set up to try to force the screen to wake up, nothing happens. Is there any cable related to the display I might have broken in the palm rest area!? laptop is a thinkpad sl510 with intel graphics. 4gb ram. Not sure if you need some model number?Im using windows 7, but the same problem occurs in latest kubuntu Good point stating the obvious hehe

Answer:LCD stopped working, only back lid works

Starting a new thread and asking questions without stating which ThinkPad you own may result in you being asked about which ThinkPad you own, or worse still, members who may be in a position to offer advice ignoring and not answering your post.

Maybe you could post or add to your signature, (my settings > personal information > signature), which ThinkPad you own.

Answer:Wi-Fi stopped working now only works wired

Have you checked under your Device Manager to see if the WiFi was disabled for some reason? Does your Dell have a physical WiFi button, and is it turned on? You could also go to the Dell website and download the WiFi device drivers for your specific laptop. Un-install the WiFi drivers, reboot and then re-install them.

Firefox 3.02 stopped working. I upgraded to 3.03, then tried a clean reinstall, then tried going back to Firefox 2. Tried running Firefox in Safe Mode. Also disabled Norton, and Windows Firewall. Also tried uninstalling Windows SP3. Nothing worked! IE and Outlook Express work fine. Before this happened I uninstalled the free Norton Corporate Edition which came with my new computer and installed my university's Symantec Antivirus 10.1.5.5000. I read somewhere that Norton uninstall can cause this problem, but don't know what to do.

I got fusturated and installed realplayer ( I hate it btw) but it plays all of my music without a problem.

All of the windows sounds work just fine. All programs, OS, drivers, are updated to newest version.

My mute button works fine, but the light indicating mute on/off stopped working.  I had updated to latest "creator" version of Windows 10 (from Windows 10) which screwed up my printer drivers.  Reverted back to the latest version of 10 that I was on (before Creator's version):  everything seems to work but the light on mute key.   I have no idea if the light stopped working due to a hardware error (coincidentally at the time I upgraded and then downgraded windows 10) or whether in the software upgrade and downgrade to current OS, a software problem has caused the mute key light to stop working.  I'm currently running Windows 10, Home, version 1607

This afternoon I left my computer on and everything was fine. I came to use it later and it had automatically restarted and was at the log in screen. The sound no longer works through my speakers. I plugged in my USB headset and the sound does work through them.

SOFTWARE:

Windows XP SP3
Device Manager had a yellow ? for "other devices" then two sub devices like this:

(?) Other Devices
(?) SM Bus Controller
(?) High Definition Audio 65535

OPERATING SYSTEM (OS):

Windows XP SP3

HARDWARE:

Gigabyte P35 motherboard
C-Media HD Oxygen sound card

WHAT IVE DONE:

I googled the (?) missing High Definition Audio driver 65535 and found other people saying to go to your motherboards website and reinstall the latest drivers. I found three different drivers listed there and downloaded all three:

under 'audio'
"Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip"
"Microsoft UAA (Universal Audio Architecture) Bus driver"

under 'chipset'
"Intel INF installation"

I tried installing the "Intel INF installation" first. It was only a 1MB file but the installation progress just went from .. to ..... to .......... till it restarted and it didn't look like it was doing anything, so I alt+ctrl+del closed it. I then installed the Realtek Function driver and I think this is just for sound settings on the onboard sound, which isn't what I use since I have a separate sound card. I also rein... Read more

Okay, here's my situation; My friend went away for a few days, leaving his PC (Windows XP) at home. When he got back he attempted to turn it on and nothing happened. The fan spun for literally a second and then stopped. After doing this, pressing the power button did nothing unless you were to unplug the power chord and plug it back in and power on, and then it would just do what it did before. So after a while of fiddling around, i figured out that when you unplug his hard drive, the computer powers on and sits at the BIOS screen reminding me of the missing hard drive. So now we know what the problem is. However i brought his hard drive home and plugged it into my computer externally (USB) and it worked. All his files and folders are still on the hard drive and it's working fine.So what does this mean? Can anyone shed any light on the matter? Hard drive randomly conflicting with it's fellow hardware after 2 years of flawless behavior? Thanks for the help guys

Answer:Hard Drive stopped working but works in other computer?

Ah good Lewk, you found your way over here and got your post up.  Like I was saying in chat, something may have happened to the power supply, although it's strange that it starts without the hard drive. Perhaps it is overloaded by that one last piece.Like I mentioned in chat, try swapping it with a known working drive and see if it will boot.Do you have another working power supply? Might try swapping that out and see if it boots with the original hard drive. (This is more of a pain than the first suggestion, but it will help rule out the PSU.)

My system is a dual boot system, XP Pro SP3 and Vista Ultimate SP1, Intel motherboard, w/965 chipset, and a E6700 CPU, 2GB RAM and it had a Geforce 6600GT 128M video card installed.

The other night I rebooted from Vista to XP, and when I booted back to Vista later, there was no video when the OS reached the GUI. (i.e. it has video through the boot screen with the scrolling bar.)

Back in XP everything works great, in Vista it worked in safe mode only, I disabled the video card in safe mode and was able to boot to Vista. I tried updating the driver to v.175.19 but the issue still existed. So I contacted Nvidia who had me try driver 175.16 and 174.74 but still no video with the video card enabled. Next they want me to try driver 100.65 but I was convinced the card had failed in some weird way so I installed a new 8600GT with 1GB RAM. Same problem....

I looked at the monitor's settings and there wasn't much to adjust in the OSD, and I am befuddled by the fact that the entire thing works perfectly in XP.

Of course I could try a restore point to see what may have changed, but that was when I found out about the problem with losing your restore points when you dual boot with XP ( info here)

Any one have a suggestion about where I should look next?

Answer:Videop card stopped working in Vista, works in XP

Tonight there was a lightning storm, I can't imagine how that could have had this effect, but I can't ignore the timing either. IE and Firefox just flat out quit loading anything

The address is not valid

Most likely causes:
There might be a typing error in the address.
If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.

What you can try:
Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

But AOL explorer alone works beautifully......Though runs of speed tests are showing a shakey download/upload stream, although I'm still getting 8 megs/1 meg, and again IE and Firefox just flat won't work.

HELP please? Anyone?

This is the weirdest thing. Last night my wireless adapter (Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG) stopped working at home - I can view all the networks and try to connect but it just won't complete the connections to any of the networks I could use in the past (my own password protected network or the open ones).  Oddly enough, it does work in my office, connecting to our company, password protected wireless network. I've tried uninstalling the drivers as well as access connections and installing the latest drivers - but to no avail. Please help!  moderator note: type added to subject line. Today my digitizer stopped working for the first time since I purchased my Thinkpad Yoga several years ago. Touch screen still works as normal. I don't think it's software related because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu and it doesn't work in either operating system. Before it would work in both operating systems, and I haven't had any updates since it was last working. Is it possible for the digitizer itself to be broken somehow? I haven't dropped the device or spilled any liquid on it. I've read elsewhere on the forum that the digitizer is powered by a capacitor that is charged within the laptop. Is this still true for Thinkpad Yogas? Are there steps I can take to diagnose the issue?

Hello,

Yesterday, my internet through wireless stopped working all of a sudden. It was working good till I closed my pc and went out for a few hours. When I returned and tried to access, it simply does not connect. I get an error saying "Windows was unable to connect to abcd (router name)". I tried to plug it into the router through ethernet and it works perfectly.

I have tried to uninstall the wireless adapter and the lan adapter as well. I have tried it in safe mode. I have tried to delete the network also but now that left me with inputting the password everytime I want to connect.

I am living in a student accomodation with 6 more people and all of them's is working good. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate Edition on Dell Studio 1555. The router is a Netgear one for the Virgin Media Superhub.

Thanks a lot

So this happened before. I bring my computer over to a friends house for a couple days, then when bringing it back to my house and hooking it back up the mic does not want to work with skype or any program that records.

Had this happen last week then it just fixed itself. As of right now everything is plugged in the right spot, all the checks and green bars move when i talk into it in the windows settings. Even when I go to monitor mic option i can hear fine, it is working.

Just for some reason it is not working with any chat program. It is not working in skype, steam, and windows recording. WTF is going on here

Answer:Mic stopped working with programs, works fine with monitor check?!

Check that the device the mic is currently plugged into is set as the default device:

The level indicator and monitoring functions will still work for non default devices, but only the default device will be used with applications (unless the applications themselves have the option to override this).

Hello,

My name is Vladan and I have had a problem occur yesterday. My internet stopped working.
I immediately tried my phone's wireless connection and saw that it was working fine, so I tried laptop wireless and it too was working. When I plug in my network cable it stops working.
My ethernet internet connection status shows that Ipv4 and Ipv6 have "no internet accsess". It's not just my laptop's wired internet that stopped working, it's the whole network I have in my apartment consisting of two more computers who also lost their wired-ethernet internet accsess. I suspect something is wrong with my router since it relays my internet but wireless works fine so I'm stumped. When I plug in my cable it shows limited connectivity.

I have tried ipconfig /release - /renew, I have tried netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset log.txt
I have tried (netsh winsock reset catalog), also I tried (netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log) and it said the following ::::::
Resetting Interface, OK!
Resetting Neighbor, OK!
Resetting Path, OK!
Resetting , failed.
Accsess is denied.

Resetting, OK!
Restart the computer to complete this action.
::::
I don't know what is this "failed and accsess is denied" but it might be the problem.

My 3 year old Inspiron 7537 (Service tag: 56H5812) w/ Windows 8, which until this time had been 100% problem free recently would not turn on. I would press the power button and nothing would happen (even w/ AC adapter plugged in)- even the charging indicator would not turn on. This was the case even when I tried using a friend's charger. I left the system pluggged in for a few hours and it eventually began to charge and has since been turning on reliably w/ either battery or AC adapter power.
The bigger problem is that since this time the LCD does not display any image at any time- not even a very faint one. Interestingly enough, the HDMI output still works fine (currently typing this w/ the laptop plugged into my TV). Also, the touchscreen somehow continues to work flawlessly. I.e when the laptop is plugged into my TV if I touch center of the (blank/dark) laptop screen it shows up on the TV as that part of the screen being touched.
My immediate reaction to these issues was to check for updates. I performed all available Windows updates and then I logged onto the dell website and used System Detect and the "detect drivers" options to find appropriate drivers and updates for my machine. A BIOS update was identified (7537A14.exe, A14).
I have spent hours trying to update the BIOS but keep getting either an "ERROR: Unknown or invalid AC & DC power condition." This happens with the AC adapter plugged in (including when I use my friend's). It persis... Read more

Wifi suddenly stopped working, works with Ethernet cable, works with iPad and iPhone, but not with Sony Vaio laptop wifi.

Have spent hours on the phone with Internet Service Provider, who went through all settings and checked everything (checked CMD prompts and changed SSID, created new channels, etc).

I'm using Windows 7 and have McAfee. What could have caused this to suddenly stop working? How do I get it to work again? I have checked my wifi is still on, it still connects to the wireless modem router (D-Link), and at start up has a yellow triangle with exclamation mark inside, then that disappears and says internet is connected (on internet bars icon) but no browsing is possible at all with any of my browsers (chrome, Firefox, explorer).

Have disabled McAfee firewall, have restarted in safe mode, but nothing is helping.

Have tried on different wifi connections, with same problem. I restored to the last date I could use wifi and it didn't change anything.... Help please!

Did your ISP give you this router such as your leasing it etc? If so contact them for a replacement. If you own this router then I'd try factory reset button to set it back to factory default. I have a Dell Studio 17 with Vista and Wifi capability. I've had the computer for a year and a half, and I've never had a major problem with wireless connection before. Any problem has been purely because of a low connection strength or because I was in a classroom (I'm a college student) in which multiple people were trying to connect at once. Eventually it always worked.

I was home for the weekend and connected to my primary wireless connection and all of a sudden I lost connection and could not reconnect.

I tried restarting and shutting off both the computer and wireless router. I tried resetting the wireless router. I tried turning on and off the Wifi button on my computer. Still cannot connect.

I plugged in an ethernet cable into my internet directly from the router and it runs fine (that is how I am on the internet on my laptop at the moment).

I will not always have access to an ethernet cable when I go back to school later today and I have a project I need to research so I'm kind of in a rush to get this figured out. Also it's just so much easier connecting wireless and obviously I'd like this fixed.

Anyway, I read up on other people's similar problem and I don't know if I changed something or messed up, but now whenever i click to view Wireless Connections the router for my house has a red x next to it and says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network."

How can I fix this?

Answer:Microsoft Word has stopped working

Since you've given no info about the installation, I'm going to guess this was a trial version on a new computer? It only works for a specified number of documents and then you must purchase a license key to keep it going.

Hi, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1) and my computer has (relatively) recently stopped automatically updating. I have a constant alert in the status bar telling me this is the case with automatic updates and attempting it manually gives me an error code - 80096001 - immediately after attempting it. This problem may have coincided with me uninstalling AVG some time ago, but I'm not sure when it began for sure.

The reason for the thread title is because I recently attempted to install Microsoft Security Essentials, which also failed to auto-update in its initial setup. Could these issues be linked?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Morning Group,

I'm at my wits end on this.  I have a Windows 7 Pro computer with Office 365 installed, and all of a sudden, I'm getting the dialog box with the dreaded "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working...".    This in not only happening with Outlook, but all of Office apps, like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, to name a few.

To make things more interesting, everything was working perfectly up until a week ago.  During this time, I have made no other updates to any of my programs/apps.

I have gone to Microsoft's site, Google to find answers on how to fix the problem.   I tried everything possible.   I have download all of the latest Window 7 Pro updates, uninstalled, re-installed, safe boots, "outlook.exe /safe", and NOTHING solves the problem.  I even went as far as updating the drivers from HP.

I am very frustrated and angry that a solution cannot be found.

Has anyone out there experience the same thing and found a solution?

Sure would appreciate any more suggestions or ideas on how to solve this.

Thank you in advance!

A week ago I installed Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 upgrade on top of Windows 2000, with no problems at all until now.

When I now open up Outlook 2007 after about 30 seconds I get an error message:-
Microsoft Office Outlook has stopped working, windows is collecting more information about this problem.

I then asked if I want to send more information about the problem to Microsoft.

The next message:- A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Outlook closes and goes back to desktop.

I have looked on the Microsoft Office for updates or patches but there is nothing.

I am very concerned I cannot open this program as I have hundreds of contacts, email accounts and valuable data there.

If I uninstalled Office 2007 and re-install it again, will all my data still be on the computer, or will I loose everything?

Help please

Microsoft Word always worked fine on my computer until a few days ago when I tried to open it and it said something about a missing shortcut, it says:

Mising Shortcut
Windows is searching for WINWORD.EXE. To locate the file yourself, click Browse

and then after a few seconds a box comes up saying:

Problem With Shortcut
The item "WINWORD.EXE" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?

I have no idea what's happened, I don't remember changing or moving any shortcut or whatever it's talking about, it was working fine one day and then the next day it wasn't working at all.
I tried to do a System Restore because I thought that might reset the computer to how it was before Word stopped working, but it said there were no restore points so I couldn't do that.
Can someone please try to help?

I've tried to make a new acct on the original profile, but still doesnt work.

I hope that I put this in the right place. So here goes.

I have two identical HP Compaq computers I bought after one computer running XP died and another computer running Vista had HD problems.

My problem. I installed Microsoft Works 9 on both new computers. On one computer it works fine, but on the other computer it doesn't. Now let me see if I can explain this. When I am using the word processor and type, say, a line and then want to highlight the line for whatever reason. When I place my cursor at one end of the line, left click and hold, then try to move the cursor over the text to be highlighted it will hardly ever perform this function correctly.

Sometimes it will highlight part of the line, then stop highlighting. But the cursor continues to move and if I don't move the cursor back over the highlighted portion of the line the highlighted portion of the line gets moved to wherever I lift my finger off of the mouse.

Sometimes it won't even try to highlight anything, sometimes it will highlight the line above or below the line I am trying to highlight even though the cursor is on the line I wish to highlight.

But on the other computer I don't have any of these problems. Same identical computer.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Help!

Whenever I try to save in Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) I get the above error message and then it closes.

I have removed AVG from my computer and also uninstalled office and reinstalled it but this doesnt' help.

I can get it to work in safe mode but is there anything I can do to get it working properly?

Thank you!

Answer:Microsoft office has stopped working when saving

last time I had that problem and ran Office Diagnostics, it said the hard drive was the problem so I tested it and indeed the test confirmed it. New hard drive fixed the problem. However, I'm not suggesting you rush out and buy a new hard drive. Test it first with DOS-based diagnostic software like SeaTools for DOS which can test any drive brand and runs from a bootable CD:

Microsoft display adapter BC was working perfectly until a few days ago. It stopped working while I was watching a video. Now when I try to connect, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then the TV goes back to the Microsoft ready to connect screen. My computer screen flashes the message "display driver Intel HD graphics drivers for windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered" I have not installed any new hardware or downloaded anything recently to cause this problem. Any advice?

Answer:Why has microsoft display adapter BC stopped working?

Hi guest,
I think you can try to register to this forum and it will help you track your questions solved more easily. The "display driver stopped responding had has recovered" is a common question. Normally it happens when you playing games, and view videos. Usually is the gpu overload operation or you need to update your graphic drivers.
You can try to solve this problem follow these steps:
1. Update the graphic drivers. (normally, when you do this step, it will solve your problem.)
2. End program by Task Manager, especially for game program and video program.
3. Increase the TDR data.
4. Update system package.
5. Reset GPU frequency.
6. Update Motherboard/Bios drivers.
7. Cooling computer.
8. Change graphic card.
And you can follow this article: How to fix display drivers stopped responding and has recovered to do it step by step.

I have seen many other people with this issue and this is more of a solution for others than a question...When trying to install/open some programs, this error would pop up, "microsoft (C) Register Server has stopped working."Running as administrator would sometimes allow the program to install/open but with errors, hangs, and incomplete installs. Here are some of the other "fixes":1)sfc /scannow from the command prompt"I did find problems with some files but this did not fix the problem, so good, but not the fix."2)Modifying DEP (Data Execution Prevention)"This is more of a workaround and doesn't completely fix the problem (or work at all)."3)system restore"This is due to being a time before you installed the problem program."4)Memtest"Will not do anything (unless there really are errors, but very unlikely)."5)Renaming Windows folder in ProgramData."This will rebuild the folder but did not fix the problem."6)Re-install Windows again!"Yes, this fixes the issue, unless you use the same programs every time like most people do and install it on the fresh install."The culprit and subsequent fix was AVAST! antivirus (the newest version as of this post). To fix the problem, disable AVAST! (and you might need to restart with it disabled)... until you are finished installing/running the program.I absolutely love AVAST!, have used it for 7+ years and never had this issue in the past. The reason most people see this happening is because antivirus is usually the first thing to go on after... I am trying to reinstall Microsoft Office 2007 Student Edition and I continue to receive the following error:
Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped Working.
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

Microsoft support informed me to try installing on a clean boot but the issue occurred. They provided me with a new download of Office 2007 and when attempting to install I continue to receive the error. I do not have any other versions of Office installed. This is very frustrating. I believe a lot of this began when I uninstalled "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition" from my Laptop due to not working properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really need to get Office installed so I can complete my college courses.

Thank You

Trying to start Outlook 2010, get message "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working".
(Same result in Outlook "safe mode".)
Outlook opens folder pane, message pane & preview pane. Then a popup with message above.
This is a Windows 10 system "upgraded" from Windows 7 about a year ago via GWX.
The email provider is COMCAST using an Exchange Server via RPC/HTTP connection.
Since we're talking about Exchange Server, the data files are .OSTs.
SFC finds no problems, and neither does CHKDSK.
Event log is cryptic to me (aren't they all?) but names "WINDOWS.UI.XAML.DLL" as faulting module.
I believe this module to be a component of KB3194496, recently installed via Windows Update.
It seems clear to me that this is a Windows Update issue.
There are no available Restore Points.
(event pasted below)
Has anyone else seen this?

Is there a work-around?

Thanks In advance...

Mail stopped working suddenly. When launching now it immediately disappears. It's too bad as I liked the program. Anyway to trouble shoot this??

TIA

Answer:Microsoft Mail stopped working suddenly

Run a system file check to look for corrupt files.

Right click at Start button > click Command Prompt (Admin) > at the flashing prompt, copy/paste this.......
sfc /scannow

> press Enter.
It will take quite sometime.
When finished, it will give you one of the 3 reports...............(paraphrasing)
1. No integrity violation.
2. Found corrupt files and repair successful.
3. Found corrupt files but unable to repair.

If the report is #1, your solution lies elsewhere.

WHENEVER I LOG ONTO MY COMPUTER THE MESSAGE "MICROSOFT FEEDS SYNCRONIZATION HAS STOPPED WORKING" APPEARS. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I DELETE THIS MESSAGE IT POPS UP AGAIN. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? HOW DO I GET RID OF IT? PLEASE HELP

Answer:Microsoft Feeds Syncronization Stopped Working

Hey, open the start menu, type "msconfig.exe" in the search bar and press enter to run msconfig...

Go to the startup tab
If you see something concerning microsoft feeds syncronisation then uncheck the box next to it and press ok (this will pop up another box on startup warning you that your startup items were modified by msconfig but you just have to check "dont show me this again"...)

if not then go to the services tab and do the same

Cheers,

When trying to open tools such as the firewall, event viewer or any other mmc snap-in i get the program has stopped wirking windows saying 'Microsoft Management Console has stopped working'

I have treid clean booting, restarting, check disk, sfc /scannow in cmd

Soes anyone have any suggestions on how to fix my problem

Answer:Microsoft Management Console has stopped working

Are you using a Universal Theme Patcher? I found out a long time ago, in windows 7, using such a tool for shell themes kills mmc and few other windows services. I don't use these "toys" any more. try sfc/scannow and then reboot.

Since yesterday, I have been receiving the above message when I close Outlook (the program otherwise functions normally).I had recently removed PC Tools Antivirus and replaced it with AVG Free antivirus, but I don't think that this is the cause of the problem. For the record, I have Office 2007 Professional, Vista Home Premium, ZoneAlarm, Advanced WindowsCare V2 Personal, and Acrobat 8.1.2.One thing that might be of use in solving the situation: I had previously noticed that 2 add-ins had been disactivated by Outlook -- one for unified messaging in MS Exchange, and the other for PDF files in Outlook -- and now the latter (pdfmoutlook.dll) is no longer disactivated. I don't know how to go about disactivating this driver again.I have already tried using the various fix options for Office and Outlook, but the problem persists. All suggestions welcomed.Florio

I had a similar issue when I used AVG which has an email av function. After uninstalling AVG including all it's components using the AVG tool the problem stopped.

Hello again,

This thread is in relation to the other thread that I had created not too long ago. Over the course of the weekend, I've experienced some trouble when I had attempted to open my "Device Manager" in Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64. I opened under "System" in Windows 7, but it gives me a window that the MMC console has stopped working.

I've tried accessing through "Administrative Tools" under Control Panel. The problem remains the same. Therefore, I've tried reinstalling the entire operating system - but the problem remains the same. From my own research, the only way on preventing MMC from crashing is - disabling certain services and functions at startup (in this case, the "Themes" services). I've found out from one user (albeit running in a different operating system) who has a similar problem and it's all exhibited from these two links - here and here. I've followed that step and so far - all thing's are relatively stable.

I've also did an SFC (System File Checker) check in Windows 7, but they have failed to fix some of the problems relating to my issue.

To summarize, each time I wanted to access my hardware profile for my desktop system in Windows 7, the computer has kept crashing. I'm hinting that my hard drive is about to go bust any day now.

If you need any more information in regards to my hardware, please let me know. Also, what can I do to prevent MMC from crashing again in the future?

When I try to run one of my Microsoft office professional plus 2010 programs I get an error message that reads:Microsoft setup boots-trapper had stopped workingA problem caused the program to stop working corectly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. There is one button on the pop up that says close program. Once I click mentioned button i get another error message that reads:Microsoft office professional plus 2010 cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed or was canceled by the user. the application will now shut down.I also tried to unistall it and I receive the first error message I mentioned. Once I click the button all the windows for un-installation close. I have tried backing up everything and reinstalling windows and I have also done a system restore to a point that I knew no errors were occuring and the problem just carries over. I searched the web as well but all I could find were these really complicated sulutions that I decided not to try for fear of making the problem worse. Any help will be completely appericiated.

Answer:Microsoft setup bootstrapper has stopped working.

Uninstall Office again and try installing it from a different CD/DVD drive. If that's not possible, copy the entire Office CD contents to your hard drive and run setup from there.

Answer:Why has my Microsoft Lumia 535 suddenly stopped working?

Apologies for not being able to give you a solid answer about this.
If this were my phone I would use the "Lumia Software Recovery Tool" available here:http://download.fds-ncom.nokia.com/s...lInstaller.exe
If possible install the tool on a Windows desktop PC.
Let the tool update.
Follow the instructions from the tool.
Connect your phone to the PC to recover.
This will completely wipe the phone and you will have to start over as though the phone was new.
Hope this is helpful.
Good luck.

my usb optical mouse was working just fine but when i switched on my laptop this morning it wasn't working anymore. the red laser is lit at the bottom of the mouse but the cursor doesn't move.

i checked the device manager and saw 2 alerts under the Human Interface Devices tab. One for HP Quick Launch Buttons and the other is for USB Human Interface Device. I presume the latter is my mouse. When i check on properties for both the alerts it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

All the driver files do seem to be in place or so I think since I haven't done any changes lately. I have already tried uninstalling both error causing devices under the Human Interface Devices tab. But when I reboot, both the devices automatically re-appear and with the yellow exclamation mark error still there. Any ideas on how to resolve this??

I'm on a HP 500 notebook running on XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3.

Answer:Microsoft Management Console has stopped working!

Check for data corruption.Run Disk Check with Automatically fix file system errors checked. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log.
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

Hi,

I've been receiving this message for a while now whenever I try to install/reinstall programs, particularly the translation program Trados 7 (which I absolutely require in order to work!).
[I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit]

I've tried all the suggestions offered on this forum (http://help.lockergnome.com/vista/Microsoft-Register-Server-stopped-working-ftopict41434.html) yet have still managed to hit a wall (the latest post in this thread is mine -- please read to find more info on my attempted "recovery" process).

Can anyone urgently help??

Thanks,

my OS: win 7 Professional 32 bit.

Answer:Please help me with Microsoft word has stopped working issue

Hello binngokute and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm a little confused why you reinstalled the operating system to try to repair Microsoft Office. In Office 2003 (the version I have at work) you could click on detect and repair in the help menu. Office would then try to find and repair problems such as missing files and registry settings associated with all installed Microsoft Office programs. Does your version of Office have that option?

Automatically repair Office programs - Excel - Office.com

As far as Windows Explorer stopping you might try to run a System File Checker scan. If any problems are noted run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If the SFC scan doesn't help you might consider a Repair Install.

Repair Install

Please post back to let us know if anything helped or if you're still having problems.

Added Info: If you're using a later version of Office you might want to try Start > Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Office Diagnostics to find and repair problems.

I have had Outlook 2007 installed for a while now and had no problem with it. Yesterday it stopped working and I cannot get it restarted. I get a message saying the file C:\Users\SteveBurns\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook.pst cannot be opened.
I have been into the mail app file and tried repair and that came up saying it was working, but nothing is working.
I had this as part of Microsoft office package 2007.
Can someone help? I get all my mail sent through to this address.

Answer:Microsoft Outlook 2007 stopped working

The pst file is probably corrupted. Use scanpst see MS Support.
These threads often get spammers promoting pst repair tools. Ignore them.

Following advice from other forums I've tried

Repairing Excel.
Reinstalling Excel.

Setting BtOfficeAddin.BtOfficeIntegration data entry in the registry to 0x00000000 (0).
The macros worked fine on XP but I keep getting this error on Windows 7. Does anyone have any advice?

If the report is #2, check if your problems have been resolved.
If the report is #3, use this method................
In the same Command Prompt (Admin) windows, copy and paste this command...........

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

> press Enter.
Again it will take some time.
When finished, it will give you a report.

After a recent Microsoft update, the cd/dvd player on my computer has stopped working.  Previously, it worked just fine. When I checked in the device status, it says "This device is working properly."  However, when I put in a dvd, it spins a little and then a pop up box tells me to insert a disc into drive E.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the video graphics, etc., but to no avail.  In addition, I tried to update the drivers and that still did not work.  (The cd/dvd drive is listed as hp DVDRW SU 208GB SATA in properties.)  I have also tried to play an audio cd, but that doesn't work either.
