Help with problem while playing low end games

Question: Help with problem while playing low end games

Hello, I am experiencing a couple of ongoing problems with my system. The first is that all of the "portable devices" show a Code 19 yet they seem to be working fine. I've tried updating drivers but it says all drivers are updated. Also when I am playing low-end hidden object games, the game stops running and takes me to the windows screen. The game is still open in the task bar and all I have to do is hit it and it takes me back into the game but it happens continuously. I've tried reinstalling directX. I don't know if this is related but I've also recently had trouble with Norton 360 not working and having to be reinstalled.

I am running Vista Home Premium w/service pack 2, Intel i7 920 2.67 GHz cpu, 9 GB ddr3 memory and an ATI Radeon HD4670 512mb card.

I'd sure appreciate any help you could throw my way.

Thanks for your time,
Stacey

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Help with problem while playing low end games

Hi,

The issue could have occurred when Norton "Messed up" but not sure at this stage. I would guess that you don't have a back-up copy of your registry, do you?

What games are you trying to play?

Please explain a little more regarding the games & the types of "portable devices" you are referring to with the problems.

Before we take any action, do you have any specific difficulties in supplying the drivers. i.e they are on CD but you don't have it, etc.

It could be as simple as removing them from device manager & re-instating them on the next boot up. Confirm you have the drivers first!

Are you experiencing any other strange activities when browsing say? (Thinking about Malware here).

Post back with more information & we can go from there. OK?

Last summer I was downstairs on my pc connected to an ethernet to the router. Internet was great no problems really.. I have a twin brother who is upstairs and he used wireless he lagged alot and he only had problems if I was on my computer and that went on for a while. I have a grandfather who sat infront of me while I was on my pc and I couldnt do it so I moved upstairs but I didnt have a wireless pci adapter for my pc I had a wifi adapter which you plug in the wall to wirelessy connect to the router downstairs and I just put my pc's ethernet into the wireless adapter. I used that for a little bit until I couldnt take the high ping I was getting in game servers forcing me to just move my pc in the corner of my room and I havent been on it since. I have been playing ps4 using a wireless connect to the router downstairs. I have connection problems off and on but not every day. I today just got back on my pc and I am expieriencing constant lag and disconnection from games and discord. My router is the NightHawk AC1700 ,my Adapter is a tplink adapter. What can I do to increase my internet speeds I just dont want so much lag and horrible ping when I play my pc games with my friends.. and a reminder my router is downstairs with the modem.

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power. Faster = more heat.

Hello,
I have problems with games, I have bought four games now, three star trek games, a game called outlaws and another CD with some Atari games on it, well, the first one I had that was installed and running on here was one of the Star Trek games, then I got two more of the Star Treck games, installed them, cannot play none of them, I downloaded the DirectX 7, I think is which one it was, even went to the website and downloaded the patch's, still can't play them. When it comes to the part of actually playing the games, it shuts down and goes to my desktop, now on all games ..
What could the problem be, had a tech here for like three hours, he is mid bottled on what could be wrong, this is a new computer, has detanator3 installed also..
Please advise....

Thanks,
mike

Have you tried different versions of video drivers?

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2.00GHz (stock 1.8GHz)
RAM: 2x512 Corsair XMS DDR400 PC3200
Mobo: MSI K8T Neo2-FIR (MS-6702E)
Video: ATi Radeon 9800 Pro w/ latest drivers (Everest reports the core as R360 but ATITool says R350 but it has no Temp sensor so it's R350 I assume)

The RAM is very new (just installed it 2 days ago), and I overclocked for the first time (with help from an experienced friend) the next day.

Before the new RAM (I had 1GB of crappy Kingston value stuff), I couldn't play games like UT2k4 or Counter-Strike: Source because after a few minutes, the video would freeze and the sound from the last second it worked would loop over and over. The only solution would be to hold the power button and restart. I could still Counter-Strike 1.6 though, which I prefer over Source anyways. I had no idea what was causing the problem, and I was always trying to figure out what it was.

Now, however, I cannot even play 1.6 for more than 5-10 minutes without it doing the same thing. My system runs stable (ran Prime95 all day while I was out), so I don't know what could be causing the problem? Insufficient cooling somewhere? The overclocking?

Also, sort of related, running 3DMark06 video tests gives me (on average) 3-4 fps. Something HAS to be wrong here.

Answer:Problem playing games

Have you tried running memtest? I am guessing that the overclock, although you may be able to boot windows normaly, might be too much for your setup to handle. This would explain why your games are locking up. Try using it at stock speed to check if you are experiencing any lockups.

Before you put it back to stock speed, run memtest and check for errors. If there are no errors, overclocking is likely not giving you the problems.

I have a problem playing games on my pc.
This only seems to have happened recently.I bought command and conquer red alert 3,installed it and tried to run it.Then I just got a blank screen with nothing happening.Had to reset my computer.I looked on the box and it said it was vista 32bit but i've got a 64bit version so thought it might be because of that.
However,I then tried to play universe at war which i've played before but had the same problem.
I'm running - core 2 quad,4 gig ram,home premium 64bit,ati 3870x2.
I've checked drivers for graphics card and they're up to date.
I also had this problem when I tried to run the media centre to sync with my xbox 360.

Answer:Problem playing games.

Well, it MAY be those games, but I can't guarantee my statement.

Most of the games I've played on my lappy run great (Vista Ultimate x64).

Answer:problem w/ playing games

It's a problem with Unreal Tour.

You might need to reinstall everything.
Did you overclock it?
Do you have the game on a separate drive?
Have you edited the game in any way?

Try this:

UT No CD Patch

1. download UT 2004 No CD patch

2. put new UT2004.exe in your UT2004/system folder

3. when it asks to replace file, click yes

Hopefully this will fix your problem..

I did a chkdsk/mem test and all the others typically suggested steps, plus a virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials (which might not appear on the PERFMON test) and Malwarebytes and they came back fine. My video card driver is current and the Alienware site has a page for my drivers and those are up to date (athough driverfinder found a few things I could update, but when I ran this program in the past and updated drivers, it just caused me problems, because they weren't listed on the Alienware page for my system) .

All my hardware has been the same since I got the computer and I never had bluescreens until recently playing DCUO and then it occured in other games after, that it never had before. I also have had alot of firefox tabs open lately, not sure if that's causing this, but I never had problems for a year or more, before, doing that.

EDIT*** App Crash View showed the Bluescreens I experienced were from : WerFault.exe -Shut down unexpectedly. I read on another page disabling Werfault.exe (not sure how the instructions were different from what I see) could fix it but I don't know. I am just adding this info to assist whoever can help me here. My system also never runs slow or anything. Everything related to performance seems fine when it just suddenly bluescreens.

Is Windows 7 . . .

- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 1.6/... Read more

I have a Linksys router, and recently I've had a problem. When I leave a game, like Quake 4 or Call of Duty 2, the internet stops working.

I have to either pull the ethernet cable out and put it back in, or restart the PC. Restarting always fixes it, but not taking the cable out..only a few times,

What is wrong?

Hi everyone, I'm having a problem when playing online games on this laptop. The laptop does run well using other applications such as MS Word etc.

When I start playing any online game, it runs brilliantly without any stopping etc. After about 10 minutes, it starts jumping and not responding etc to my commands. Why is this happening? Can I prevent it?

Many thanks.

Answer:Problem playing online games

Your laptop isn't designed for gaming. Do you experience overheating issues a few minutes after running a certain game/application? If yes, you can use a can containing compressed air to clean the fans and see if that helps.

And also, which games are you playing on that laptop?

I try to play PS1 games on my PS2 and the following occurs:

Playstation 1 loading screen loads and plays fine
When game actually begins (intro screen, whatever) the image on the TV snaps up and down, and continues to do so even if I begin the game. I can use the controls like usual, just the image wont stop moving! I just bought another PS2 thinking that it would solve the problem (they only sell for 60 bucks) and now I'm stuck with the 2 PS2s and the same problem. Could it be my VCR? TV? The TV I have is old and only ahs a coaxial (i think that's what you call it) not video/audio hookups. Meaning: I have to run cable through VCR to get to use video/audio hooups. My N64 is plugged into the same VCR and works perfectly fine. Please HELP!

I have a problem that just started when I upgraded to my new motherboard. Whenever I am in CS:S my microphone in vent sounds like and i quote from my friend mat

Quote:

Drizzt, it sounds like you are strangling a cat in the background

This is not good, I don't want this. I am fairly certain it is not my Mic's fault as it does not sound like angry cats when I am not in CS:S. It is only when I start it up. This did not happen before on my 680i SE.

I tried going to the asus website and reinstalling the sound drivers for my sound card (which comes with the mobo). Still no fix. Fine until I start up cs:s.

Suggestions? Help?

Answer:Problem with Sound when playing games!

Maybe a reinstallation of CS:S or steam? or both? Have you fiddled with the mircrophone settings within CS:S? Tried a different microphone?

It was ok before I formatted the hard drive, now w/new XP Pro. program I?ve this problems.
Is there a fix for it or can I get old java program so I can solve this problem?

Answer:Problem w/Java5 playing games

Maybe this will help? I am going through problems with Java 1.5. Things were OK with 1.4.2 -- and then when I upgraded to Java 1.5 last week, all hell broke loose (for me, anyway...)

1. UN-install all your Java stuff... there are many other posts here about all the things to try doing, to uninstall Java...

2. Download JVM 1.4.2 here:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

3. Install it.

4. Test it.

5. Post results here?

Hello, hopefully someone can help, as my knowledge is pretty limited when it comes to networking and I have a really annoying problem.

Over the past couple of weeks/months whenever I try to connect to a CS/COD 2/BF 2 server, I can access the server lists with no problem, but as soon as I try to connect to one, my connection cuts out and I can't connect, my mozilla then also can't connect to any websites, but oddly enough apps like msn and ventrillo stay connected. After a few minutes the connection comes back, but if I try to connect to a server, same thing happens again. The only game I can play with absolutely no problems is World of Warcraft. I share a connection with one other computer, that one connects to the router/modem by USB, mine is connected by ethernet. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Answer:Connection problem when playing games

reverend, how long have you had both computers hooked up, USB ~ Ethernet? Most ISP's will only allow one at a time. The computer that is hooked up has its MAC registered with the ISP. With 2 hooked up simultaneously you could be causing issues and thats why your connections drop sporatically. Does the USB computer have the same problems? Probably not. Maybe invest in a $40.00 router with a built in switch. or disconnect the USB computer, reboot the router and Ethernet computer and try that.

I recently upgraded my PC by buying a new CPU AMD 5200+ 2.70Ghz overclocked to 3.0Ghz and all games started crashing. Here's my PC's specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte-GA69VM-S2
CPU: AMD 5200+ 2.70Ghz currently 3.00Ghz
Video Card: Galaxy GTS250 512MB GDDR3
RAM: 3x1GB Super Talent
HDD: Seagate 500GB
PSU: Fortron 400W
2xDVD-RWs
OS: Windows 7 x86

For example when I start GTA IV the PSU starts making a loud noise and after 15 min the game freezes. Not only GTA IV but Crysis,Metro 2033,Need for Speed Shift...

All temperatures are normal except the motherboard. It was stable until I bought the new CPU. The old one was AMD 4000+ 2.1Ghz
CPU:30 to 40 degrees on standby when playing maximum 60
Video Card:45 degrees on standby and up to 65 while playing
Motherboard: 45 degrees on standby and up to 67 when playing
All help would be appreciated

Answer:Most games crash while playing. Could this be a PSU problem?

Yes it sounds like a problem. The next thing you're going to hear is probably a "pop," if you're unlucky. Upgrade to a quality 450 watt psu or higher, asap.

My sister's computer has a couple of problems that are completely stumping me. the Windows updates all fail to install, when she puts a music disc in her combo drive it doesn't automatically play like it used to so she has to go to windows media player and hit play to start it, the other problem is that none of her games will start, (one of them she had uninstalled because she got a new expansion which said it was better to uninstall the entire program then install them together) The program she uninstalled will not even go to the screen that asks if she wants to install it.
I figured that it might was either a problem with the auto run (one of the error messages said it couldn't copy the autorun.EXE) or the problem was with temporary files,
She found the "Windows XP Autorun Repair Wizard" on your site and ran it to try and fix the problem. the Windows XP Autorun Repair Wizard couldn't solve the problem but gave us a report, the attachment is a .txt file. I have no idea how to read this thing so maybe one of you guys could explain what is going on with my computer and can help me fix it.

Thanks very much.

So I had a problem with BSOD while playing League of Legends and some times just while doing stuff like trying to save a pdf from the internet. I decided to try formatting C:\ and re-installing windows to see if it would resolve the issue. Sad to say that now BSOD happened even when I was playing World of Warcraft (which did not happen previously).

I ran driver verifier and after the reboot windows crashed, almost immediately after loading. I restored it through safe mode. And now I'm asking for your help.

Laptop model is MSI GX623, the other info should be in the .zip file in the DxDiag.txt

And this is what windows says when I reboot after BSOD (which now happens immediately after I log a character in WoW):

Here some screens with temperatures,fanspeeds,voltages

my bios settings are default if i need to make any pls let me know

Answer:Problem when playing specific games

To me this sounds like a heat problem. What runs find at idle may not be so when your system is being stressed.
When were your temps of screenshots taken? If after one of your freezes.. how long?
the only thing i can see is your 2nd HDD is running warmer than I would preferr, but I dont think a hot HDD would cause such issues.

Nextime a freezeup happens, IMMEDIATELY reboot, go into the bios and look at system temps - or try playing your game in windowed mode so you can mointor temps and see what happens.

Try taking the side panel off your case and playing COD5 and see if the problem goes away.. or just takes longer to happen, or even happens sooner.
Also try placing a house fan nexto your case while the side panel is off.

If any of those solve the problem, then its definately a heat problem and you will need better ventilation on or around your case.

I really don't know exactly how to explain this problem but will do my best so that you can understand it. I regularly play games where the cursor is changed into one with the game theme like a star or a electrode wand. They are very slow and unstable. On one game I was able to right click to open Flash and move the slider to the right then a little to the left causing the cursor to change to the regular Windows pointer until I did something in registry(I think). That is when the cursors began to seem unstable and slow. My favorite game is a puzzle game to match colored balls, these flicker terribly now and the whole game at a certain point begins to flicker. Do you have any idea what I can do to correct this? My grandchildren and friends have the same game program where we earn play money to shop with and this is how I earn the most for them and sure would like to get it fixed. This problem is the main reason I finally reinstalled Windows XP SP3 on my Dell Dimension 4700 machine. I use IE8 and Firefox Browsers. The game acts the same in both as do the cursors. I have 4 gigs of memory just addedI have Legacy Audio and VideoSoundMax Integrated Digital AudioUnimodem Half-Duplex Audio DeviceVideo Codecs are ROOT\MEDIA\MS_MMVID....I assume that is a Microsoft, correct? I had more recent drivers until I reinstalled and they got removed I guess, They are nowhere to be found. In the drivers file ONBOARD is listed. Answer:problem playing new games in Windows 7

I'd be willing to bet that video is a capture from someone running the game on a desktop PC. It's been my experience that games will never run as well on a laptop as they will on a desktop PC. How much RAM do you have in that laptop? The amount of RAM you have can also affect performance of a game. The more you have, the better the game will perform because once you load it and start playing it, the game is running in memory, not off the hard drive.I suspect RAM is probably the defining issue between a laptop and a desktop where gaming is concerned. Laptops tend to not have as much RAM in them as an average PC and to the best of my knowledge, can't have as much put into them as a PC.It matters not how straight the gate,How charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate;I am the captain of my soul.***William Henley***

I need help. I had a computer tech come to my house to "fix" my problem, BUT he charged me $162. and did nothing. However, he told me he fixed the problem, but he only removed the program I was having a problem with. Let me explain, I play a lot of downloaded games and while playing one I got the message "ialmrnt5 display driver" had stopped working. Does anyone know anything about this driver?? How do I obtain a new driver? Where is the driver? I have looked through everything I can find, but I don't see this driver.......Device Manager! If you read my profile you know that I am an elderly lady who lives alone and doesn't drive so my games are important to my life. Any and I do mean any assistance would be greatly apprecited.

I'm not sure if I should make this here or in the game forum..sorry if I made the wrong choice. >_>

I'm using an old Soundblaster card, as I can't get the integrated sound card on my mobo working. The name of the sound card, based on what is on the card, is Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Digital. I'm using the Live! 5.1 drivers, as the 5.1 Digital are Dell only..even though my card did not come from a Dell. Oh well.

The problem is, while playing Guild Wars or WoW there is a pretty frequent 'feedback' type of sound. I've tried using headphones, and the sound is still present. However, the sound is NOT present while playing F.E.A.R.. If I turn off the background sounds and effects in Guild Wars, it stops it. Not sure with WoW. I'm fine with using either the integrated card or the PCI card, as long as sound is working fine. I'm not sure if I've done all that is needed to disable the integrated card, as all I've done is disable it in the Device Manager. I'm using Windows XP Prof..
EDIT: Disabling Hardware Acceleration in DXDiag seems to fix it. I've only tried it completely disabled and fully enabled, and only in Guild Wars. Will disabling it cause any problems?

EDIT2: No acceleration and basic acceleration seem to be fine. I just need to know if setting it to that will cause any problems.

I've been having this issue for nearly a year now (probably around 9 months). It started after my little sister made me get a virus by her trying to download something onto my laptop. I've since taken it to a reputable computer shop as well as followed instructions from other computer wizs and I think it's no longer there. Issue is, my computer has kind of developed another problem after that. It freezes on it's own sometimes, when I pick it up or even when it's on a desk and immobile. It would also freeze when I play a game sometimes, loud buzzing sound as the game continues in loops I believe. I had BSOD problems earlier this year that was solved (Apparently. I haven't gotten any in about 4-5 months) when I had Windows 7 but this issue still persists.

When it would freeze and I manually turn off my computer and turn it back on, the laptop would sometimes say no wifi could be detected. At all. Not mine, not my neighbors, nothing. I've never really taken it out of the house so I don't know if it'd act the same elsewhere. I would then shut it down and take out the battery for 30 seconds before putting it back in. Sometimes the wifi would work then or I'd go connect it to my Internet Modem and the wifi would start working over there too.

So I'm not sure what's causing this problem. It's not overheating as I had it cleaned less than 4 months ago by a professional. I've had this laptop for two years and I really wanted it to last me at least 4 because I'll be going into an ani... Read more

Hello all,

I've been having a few problems with my laptop since I bought it. The problem mainly occurs when I'm playing a game (usually xcom: enemy unknown or deus ex HR at the moment) but has occurred when I'm browsing the internet (albeit far less often). The BSODs appear to be random but I'm using a blue tooth mouse and have noticed the BSOD will usually happened if I'm using it. I've also noticed that my laptop screen with black out for a split second on games that are quite graphics intensive for my system.

Its been frustrating me a lot so I reinstalled and fully updated windows 7. The GPU drivers are all up to date also.

I've attached the SF file that is required and would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks for your time

Ive built myself a new PC and so put my old graphics card and RAM into my sisters PC:
Geforce 6800XT 128MB AGP (from Radeon 9250)
1GB RAM (2x512MB) PC3200 DDR (from 768MB)

I forgot about drivers for the card so it loaded up with ATI drivers. I used Driver Cleaner Pro to delete anything under ATI (i didnt click for it to delete any of the ATI extensions, just ATI). The put in the 93.71 nVidia driver ( I used this driver im pretty sure).

Tome Raider Legend and Anniversary and The Sims 2 play fine. But, GTA3 and Oblivion are mainly vorbs of black space. A lot of the textures dont show up and what you see is blackness.

Some things show like a bit of a wall, the players face. But its completely unplayable and sister isnt too happy.

Edit: Theese games were on the computer and playing fine before the upgrade btw.
Im really lost on this, help much appreciated.

Hi,
My system specs are:
Pentium D 2.8Ghz
RAM 2GB DDR2 533Mhz
Mobo - Mercury PVM7 Pro Version 1.0
nVidia GeForce 128MB 5200FX AGP 8x - No FAN provided by the company
80GB Seagate SATA

While playing games, after about half to one hour, game starts acting too slow. While playing, frame rates are reduced and game runs with pauses. I am taking here the example of NFS Carbon. This happens with all other games too. This happens always, no matter CPU/GPU is overclocked or are in their factory settings. I highly suspect this is overheating problem.
But when I was trying OCing, I installed a 12mm fan on my GPU's HS(it doesnt have any fans). Then I ran stability test for 4-5 hours, then played games for another 2-3 hours(with this problem) and then shutted down my comp directly and opened the case and touched the HS on GPU(all took 1 min), it was dead cold. I have tested this before installing the FAN too, but that time HS was very hot. So, I am confused. Anybody please help me out.

Answer this question too:
How to measure the frame rate I am getting while playing any game, say NFS Carbon? Can it be done through any other way than benchmarking tools for NFS Carbon?

Answer:GPU Problem: While playing games, FPS gradually slows down.

I upgraded from Windows98 SE to WindowsXP Home Edition two days ago. I have been using Comcast High Speed Internet for two months. I have played online games for years. Since upgrading to WindowsXP, I can no longer play online games. I get the game loading screen but the game never loads.

I have contacted Comcast, they said download the newest Java version. Did that. Still having same problem. Contacted Microsoft, they said they don't support Java any longer, tried dowloading some dll files, checked firewall, etc. Still having same problem. Microsoft said to contact Java (Sun) for answer to problem. They have not responded.

I am truly confused as to why I upgraded a Windows program and now I can no longer access online games. What am I doing wrong or is this a Windows problem and how can I fix it?

Hi guys, this is my second BSOD post, this time it's for my own desktop. I've been playing Dying Light recently, and have been experiencing CTDs and BSODs during playing, had been playing for around 20 hours in total and had 2 BSODs and about 4-5 CTDs. I never had any problem with other games.

After the 1st BSOD, I looked at the event log and did some research and thought it's probably a faulty display driver, so I rebooted into safe mode and did a DDU, and installed the latest WHQL driver. But just now I was playing with a friend, had 2 more CTDs and another BSOD, so I've no idea how to fix this now. Please help...

3 days ago i started having a black screen problem while playing games that normally would run on my PC ( for example League of Legends and Skyrim , the latter on low details ).

The problem is as follows : In League of Legends which i've been running on High details for 6 months now i started getting a black screen for about 2-4 seconds , afterwhich the game resumed. At least this is what happened for a while, but it started increasing in frequency and i had numerous Crashes (bugsplat errors) with a message saying that my video drivers have stopped working. This culminated with me also getting a Green Screen during the game that resulted in me restarting my pc ( basically the screen went green and i couldn't do anything else except manually restart)

The drivers are up to date so i have nothing to upgrade. I checked my video card thinking it might overheat and it runs at ~60C.

I cleaned the dust off my PC , reinstalled Windows and increased video card fan speed a bit.

Now i have almost the same problem, i still get the Black screen error that lasts 2-4 seconds and occasionally i get the Green Screen aswell forcing me to restart.

I decreased my League of Legends graphic details from High to Very Low, decreased FPS rates from 60 to 30 and now it runs without problems, but here's the catch: everything that worked smoothly before such as Skyrim and other high demanding games ( from a video card PoV) are now unplayable, i can only run older games like for example... When I first got my computer, it worked just fine, I played all my games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and WoW on the fullest settings without a problem. Then a few months later it began restarting after anywhere between 30 mins to 1hour+ of playing. I called the makers of my computer, we tried to see if it was overheating but it wasnt, I also tested the videocards, it wasnt that either. Then, out of nowhere it fixed itself for a few months, then out of nowhere it happened again. I restored my computer to an earlier time and it worked for a few days and now it's restarting again.

Could this be a Vista problem? I had a friend who said he had the same problem with his new comp but he upgraded to windows 7 and it has yet to restart... I have no idea, any sort of help would be much appreciated...

Thanks.

Hi!
I choose to start this thread because i couldn't find the same behaviour anywhere else.
So when i start playing a game (e.g CS:GO) the games runs smoothly and all is good for about 15 minutes give or take. After that period of time my internet connection suddenly drops. If i only disable and enable my connection it will go back online but only for another 15 minutes or so if i start playing a game again. If i restart the pc i can play the game as much as i want without any problems.
In conclusion when i first start the pc after a long time of power off i get this problem but after the first restart it s all gone. I can't wrap my head around the source of this problem. Hope someone can help.

Hello, I've been recently having problems and they are all apparently connected to nvlddmkm.sys and I don't know how to fix this, I've looked into this a lot and I'm not able to find any solutions. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 610M and I tried using the latest version as well (currently I have a version I believe it was released in February).
Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Forgot to mention the fact that this only happens when playing games, which so far never gave me a single problem. Other uses do not cause any crashes.

I've been having problems with random BSOD's, mostly while playing games. They started around march, this year (as far as I remember). Thing I have done so far:

-formated hard drives twice and reinstalled Windows (zeroed once)
-ran memtest (couple of times with every stick tested solo, around 25 hours of testing altogether with no errors)
-ran chdsk, scannow, hdtune, mhdd boot test, crystaldiskinfo, all with no problems detected
-cleaned whole box with vacuum cleaner and compressed air
-put both GPU and memory sticks out and in
-updated bios, drivers

Computer is 3 years old now, and same problem persisted with next 3 windows instalation ( I did complete hdd format every instalation). There were a lot of errors, most of them related to drivers, but some were just stop errors with some random error codes.

I have a lot of errors in games, I think exceptionally lot since I never had so many errors before. I tried to downgrade my nvidia drivers to 314 but it didn't really help (there is a known problem with nvidia drivers).

I'd be really grateful if you could help me with that problems. It's been bugging me for over half year, with couple of BSODS almost everyday, and I can't afford to buy a new PC.

Hello sevenforums Community,
since about month im getting Bluescreens, which never happened before in 4 years.
It usually get the when i watch streams on twitch (which didnt happen since 1 week on my account though) or currently while playing League of Legends.
But they dont come every game, so i can for example play 4 games in a row and nothing happens or i get 3 one them in one game. Also they can come at any game time. It is kind of random to me how they appear.
The last two days I got about 7 so i really need help from u guys.
In the last two weeks i always got this message (STOP : 0x00007A (0xFFFF6FC50023598,0xFFFFFFFFC000000E,0x000000002A991880,0xFFFFF8A0046B30BE) ) without a sound and the pc didnt instantly reboot.
But the last days the Blackscreen stayed like 4 second so i couldnt see the error message on it, so i dont know if the error changed but there was this buzzing sound.

I really appreciate help (and sorry for my english skills ^^)

So I recently opened my CPU because it was lagging and I thought maybe a little clean up might do the trick. So I softly brushed the drivers inside the CPU to get some dust off. However, when I turned on my PC, it seems that whenever I watch videos or play games, a loud crackling sound comes out from my speakers. I don't know what is causing this.

I have tried disabling my drivers (sound and display) but to no avail. However, if I mute the volume on my sound driver, the sound disappears. Which lead me to the conclusion that it might be a conflict of sound and display.

Since the problem only occured when I opened my CPU and cleaned it, it might also be a wiring problem or something.

Can someone help me on this?

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. I just updated and rebuilt my PC and have reinstalled Win 7 64 bit and am constantly getting a BSOD while using the PC. Specifically while downloading/installing/playing games. I have also had the error occur just while surfing the internet.
From the program Blue Screen Viewer it seems to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 and/or ntoskrnl.exe+7e769
I can not find any solution to fix this issue, I have updated drivers, I have ran the Microsoft memory checker, , I have changed out my memory, tried 2 other video cards, tried two different wireless network cards, now on wired connection, I even changed motherboards, got the errors on both SSD and HDD. The only things I haven't changed out is the PS and CPU, since I am using the PC to write this I am ruling out the CPU as the issue.

I have used Memtest86 and prime95 to test the memory and CPU, nothing is coming back with errors or issues. I did run driver verifier and got two .dmp files for some specific files but not sure what to do with those now. They are included in the attachement

It seems to be software/driver issue but I can not figure it out.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Hello All

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Cavi... Read more

Hi Guys,

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

Hello guys. So here is my issue i dont really know how to specific it further then this still hope it will help.

I have been getting BSOD for a while now and it's getting to the point i cant do a single thing on the computer. I did the config for dumps and so on and ended up with this RAR file with all the info i assume. I mostly get the bluescreen when i try to watch anime etc on googlechrome. It never works it's a matter of seconds before the BSOD comes. But when watching it on other browsers like opera it works just fine "mostly" even there it bluescreens from time to time. And then there is when it's most fatal, Playing onlinegames. Whenever I play online games like World of warcraft, League of Legends, Heroes of Neweart etc etc etc i risk getting bluescreens. It differs very much from game to game how often the bluescreens appear and it seems to not be preformance related since sometimes i play constantly for hours when maxing out games and pushing the computer to it's limits when it comes to frames. And still the bluescreen lies in dorment waiting for a more suitable interrupt for me. From the looks of it the bluescreen is related mostly to my operatingsystem more then commponents after i looked at the dumpfiles via "Bluescreenviewer".

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this and i hope you guys can help me with this. also this is my first post so I maybe did this typical "bad thread", Still i hope this will get me atleast closer to... Read more

Hello, first time poster looking for help as I can't diagnose my issue after trying numerous things. Currently when I play a game the BSOD happens randomly, I can go a whole day without it, or it can happen frequently. It happens the most when I close or exit a game, then it'll kick to a blue screen.

I really appreciate what you guys do and I hope I followed all the instructions right on how to post my logs and stuff, here's the attachment and some basic system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Answer:BSOD Playing various games, closing games, no overheating.

Before we can even begin to find the underlying cause you need to update the following drivers. Especially asacpi.sys. Yours is from 2005

Code:
ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 10:30:36 PM
Lycosa.sys 1/18/2008 4:51:42 AM
nvm62x64.sys 10/17/2008 5:01:06 PM
netr28x.sys 2/25/2009 11:02:09 PM
How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

Hey I've got a problem with my computer and i cant figure out what it is exactly so i dont know where to start on fixing this.
Basicly when im playing a high powered game i.e World of Warcraft its crashing quite often turning the window into a black screen and then crashing my computer, as if its something to do with my graphics or spec not able to run it.
I cracked my computer screen a few months ago and lately got it fixed and since then this problem started to apear, i've never had a problem with this before then, I thought it may possibly be from getting a new screen i might need to reinstall my graphics drivers which i moved onto doing and it still didnt help my problem
I've got 3.00 GB of RAM
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9400 @ 2.53GHz
My 2 graphics cards are ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870

So its more then enough for world of warcraft or most other high spec games
It would be greatly Appriciated for your help.

Answer:Need help identifying computer problem. Computer keeps crashing when playing games

Usual cause of this problem is overheating and/or weak power supply.

Hello there, I've got a problem with my computer that's been bothering me for a long time now.
If possible, I'd like any of you to help me identify the problem, and find a solution.

I've never been able to fix this problem, on what should be a perfectly fine computer, bought new in march 2008. Full spec list in the end of the post. OS is Windows XP Pro.

The problem is that the computer is either crashing completely, or forcing games to shut down when I'm playing games. What I've come to think is that my power supply can't handle the hardware that's in the computer, when all the parts are being used maximally. Here's what I'm thinking: When a game that demands the whole computer to work at maximum capacity is running, the power supply will attempt to deliver the power all the hardware parts need to function properly at full speed. 'Say the computer actually need a 550w power supply to function properly, but the power supply i have only works at 500w, it will actually try to deliver 550w, ultimately causing it to "overheat", and force itself to reboot as a means of getting cooled down or simply slowing down to work at normal capacity - instead of keeping on working at more than 100% capacity over a longer period of time, which would end up destroying the power supply altogether. The crashes rarely occur when I do anything other than playing demanding games, basically any game that's got high hardwar... Read more

It doesn't happen often but sometimes it freezes for a second while loading a certain game which works fine on another day and gives BSOD. Sometimes it happens after I've loaded the game and am in the moment of playing. My hardware is more than enough for the games I run and I even run them on low-mid even though I can manage high settings. The games I usually run are CS:GO, League of Legends and Modern Warfare 3 [rarely play; received 1 BSOD while loading it]

I've uploaded my dump files.

Thank you.

I have an Old Dos Game that I was able to find in bin format and was trying to figure out how to play it on Windows 10. I was trying to figure out DosBox but maybe it's just me but it's too complicated.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Answer:Playing Old Dos Games

With DOSBox things are rather basic since I can easily run some old 8bit dos games on the 64bit Windows 10 as well as previously seen on the 64bit Windows 7. With a basic entry to mount the game's program folder on a virtual drive you then simply type the name of the main executable to see it run.

One classic title was the 8bit Duke Nukem where the first entry was "mount c: c:\duke nukem 1" where the custom folder had to be created for the old game since that didn't have any installer. Once mounted I simply typed in "dn1" being the "dn1.exe" file for starting the game up. The game loads right up!

A PC World article on DOSBos makes for a good read along with the Wiki and other sources since this is an easy one to learn how to use. The PC World article can be looked over at: How to Use DOSBox to Play Classic Games | PCWorld

The dosbox.com wiki is seen at: Basic Setup and Installation of DosBox

And then there's the How-To-Geek site for another guide. How To Use DOSBox To Run DOS Games and Old Apps

With a newer game that is more involved like the Duke 3D sequel with a Dos/9x capable installer you would need a different type of emulator since DOXBox is intended mainly for the stand alone type games that simply unpacked into a folder from a cd collection if not bought back then on a floppy disk. A lot of those old titles are now if found totally free to download since they were long ago discontinued since at this late date who would still b... Read more

How good is the TV for displaying PC game graphics? I have an Xbox and Alba TV and the picture/graphics are brilliant. I presume this is what the TV out feature of the grahics card is used for? Would you also overcome the problem with high response rates of some TFTs?Just imagine those big Rome Total War battles on a large TV screen :-)

Answer:Playing PC games on TV

I would probly think they were very blury.Probly crud graphics just as they would be on a PS2.I really cannot sit and play a PS2 because of the graphics its really slow and jerky, and the game programmers try to use a trail technique to fade out the all the bumps,of course it hardly works and gives the screen a cloudy affect.Xbox graphics on a tele are not bad,but everything is out of proportion, and sound doesn't go in time with the picture. You can indeed plug a S-Video cable from your TV-out port to your tele and see the screen as normal, but like i said it will probly be blury.I prefer classical CRT's to TFT because they have a more colourfull picture, although to be honest the TFT's give a crisper picture."Just imagine those big Rome Total War battles on a large TV screen :-)"Just imagine those big Rome Total War battles on a Digital projector, huh? ;-)

Answer:playing games

Do other disks work in the drive, Compost? Are there any cracks or scrathes on the game disk? Have you tried washing the CD in a warm, slightly soapy solution? Have you tried cleaning the drive's reading heads? Last thing I can think of, is to check the games home site to see if there are any issues/patches with/for the game.

Question: playing PC games

Hi,Just a quick question regarding playing PC games.I have been given an old PC game "Alien v Predator" and it wont play on my machine!I have Windows XP and the game specifies Windows 95/98.Does this mean my system is too good to play this game?

Answer:playing PC games

Some old stuff won't work on XP. You could try right clicking the .exe file that is the game; select properties; then compatibility. In this you will see options to run in "Windows 95" mode or whatever.I've never tried this myself, but have a go...it may work!Skeletal

Question: playing games

Ever since I had windows 10, a game that I often play on windows 7 has stopped working so I am unable to use this game on windows 7.
I can understand Microsoft wanting to get people to move over to windows 10 but it is really unnecessary to stop things working on windows 7 just to get people to give up windows 7. We have paid good money to get windows 7 in the first place and support
doesn't end until 2020.
I even had to reinstall win 7 a couple of times to get it to work but to no avail. The most recent reinstall of windows 7 enabled me to play the game I wanted to play. The last time I was able to play this game was this morning. Then this afternoon I got
round to catching up with all the updates for win 7 - guess what happened, the game stopped working. So it's obvious one of the updates stops the program from working.
I'd appreciate having this update withdrawn and a replacement put in place so we can continue to use win 7. Either that or post some instructions on how we can restore the program to work.
Thank you.

Answer:Playing games on PC

I'm assuming your using an emulator to run the games? What emulator are you using? The problem might be specific to the emulator, and its a bit hard to help unless we know more details. Try to post as much information about the problem as possible, and we will try to help.

Answer:Help In Playing Games

that sounds like an obvious graphics card issue, could possibly be defective or theres a driver conflict or some other conflict with your monitor, quickly try re-installing your video drivers. If that doesn't solve anything try contacting the manufacturer.

Rose

Answer:playing games

Hello, Rose. I searched for your problem, and found a topic with a user having almost exactly the same problem, even for the same game. Here is a link to that topic

http://forums.techguy.org/games/1364...en-trying.html

The user claims they uninstalled then reinstalled Shockwave, and it fixed the problem. But...

You may wish to check this link FIRST http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ to see if your Shockwave player is working and or up to date. IF yours is working, you will see the animation on the page, if not, it will ask you to install the Shockwave plugin. I clicked it myself, and it says that I need to install the missing plugin (Shockwave).
