Runtime Error 75 path/file access error on call from access database

Question: Runtime Error 75 path/file access error on call from access database

I have an access 2003 database that calls a VB6 module. The module starts and then I get a run-time error 75 path/file access error. I can execute the vb module outside of access but I have to run as administrator for it to work correctly. What can I fix so that the call from access will execute? I believe the issue is with comctl32.ocx and the status bar control inside the vb module.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Rundll32.exe error on startup error message saying "windows cannot access the specified device, path,or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item

Hi,
Please click start, type msconfig and press Enter.
Under the startup tab, find the item reads like RUNDLL32.EXE, c:\windows\system32\xxx.dll and uncheck it.
Save the change and restart.
Or you can modify the registry by loading registry editor.
Navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Deleted the RUNDLL32.EXE, c:\windows\system32\xxx.dll

This occurs in Vista on a new Viao laptop when trying to run a proggy written for windows. Apparently Vista lacks csrastl.ocx which I have copied from this XP home machine and registered it in Vista windows/system32. The install proggy was deliberately modified to take account for this but the situation has now changed and that peeps is no longer available to help.

Is there a quick and easy answer?
cheers
Lil

Answer:Solved: Error 75 in RS Home, Path/File access error

I had a query up on another forum where this has been answered.

The software had been written for earlier versions of windows so Vista did not have an appropriate file in its registry. Copying, pasting and registering this file in Windows system32 with the AUC switched off and a modified proggy downloaded and installed has done the trick. This problem and another has kept me busy all the weekend.
Cheers everybody.

Hi Guys,

I am trying to digitally sign an xml document using client software. the application has a ' digitally sign button' and when i click on it I am getting this message "Run time error '75' path/file access error"
The digital certificate is in a usb drive. I am using vista HOme edition 32 bit version on a dell laptop.

There is no problem with digital ceritifcate or usb drive because i can digitally sign msword docs individually. the problem occurs only while using client software. i had successfully used the same client software and USB in signing xml docs in windows XP on a HP machine before.

Can somebody please help me resolve this issue.

Answer:Run time error '75' path/file access error

I really dont know the answer to this problem, but you could try a clean boot: Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program

and then digitally sing your document

Hello everyone,
I am having a problem with my computer atm and will give you the story.
I have a 1 tb HD, installing a fresh install of Windows 7 using an upgrade disc and a very helpful tutorial, since I was unable to install it on the whole drive I had to partition it to a 50gig and the rest as a second drive named Z:\

A week ago the 50GB had filled up so I went about removing some files and wondered why some of my C:\ Users \ May name folders and files were seeming to appear on both my drives when I changed the initial location of all images/music/etc folders to Z:\
I thought if I moved the appdata which was some 10 gigs alone and went about changing the location to the Z:\ with no apparent issue.

A couple of days ago I went to bed with my computer on and woke up with it as if it had shutdown and restarted, I logged in and assumed it was an update thought if this was the case I'd get a popup saying it had updated. I got nothing, so I ran Avast and Malware bytes to see if it was a virus, nothing.

Then I noticed my local area connection icon is stuck with a permanent X on it, even thought I am connecting fine. Now this is the problem..if I click on a program it will open fine do the Admin privlidges thing which I say yes to and its ok. But if I try to open anything like My name/Documents/Pictures/ Music or anything to the right of the start menu I get this error:

Followed by this one straight after clicking OK.

Hello,

I've read through many posts here and on other sites as to the problem that may be causing this error I've been receiving:

On the Title Bar" C:\Windows\System32\Rundll32.exe
Body: Windows cannot access specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

My system is Windows Vista Business 32-bit SP-1. I had a nasty virus which I scanned with AVG (full purchased protection) and Malwarebytes. I have a sneaking suspicion that there are remnants of that virus still lurking, and/or there may have been fles that were deleted/quarantined that may be vital to my system.

It should be noted that I do not receive that error when trying to access all files. It's very inconsistent. I can access most of my Control Panel, but not themes or display settings. I also have an external monitor that will not display different screens, it will only mirror or run as the primary screen, even when I choose 'Display different screen' option. For the .exe files that don't automatically run, 98% will function if I right click and choose 'Run As Administrator.'

I've tried
-Reg Cleaners (none of which deleted or fixed anything
-Disabling my anti-virus software
-Starting up in Safe Mode/Safe Mode Networking [error still existed]
-Reset IE setting, increased them, decreased them...ugh.
-Checked start-up programs. Rebooted in normal, selective, etc. Same thing for all settings.

I can open it by right clicking > edit and can also see the contents on the preview pane but it bothers me that I can't open it normally. Could this be a virus or a problem on the system? Text documents are the only ones I can't open. I don't have an anti-virus.

Boot into safe mode and run combofix or malwarebytes, they usually pick up pretty much anything, but you need the most current version.

I am running Vista Home Premuim on a 32 bit computer

I am not able to run a virus scan. After I install the program and attempt to scan, the program acts like it's working but after just a few seconds it stops. When I try to open the program again I get this error message: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item I've uninstalled that program and downloaded a new one and the result is the same. Today I downloaded a malware program hoping that might find the problem but that program also starts to scan and then stops and I'm unable to open it again. I've tried running both programs in safe mode with networking and again I'm unable to open the program and get the same error message. As there is only one user on this computer I'm certain I am the administrator.

I'm not an advanced pc user but I am able to follow instructions.

Any ideas on a fix for this?

Thank you!

I have run this code before successfully on my database numerous times and today it decided it didn't want to so it any more and i can't find a solution. It runs the code fine and saves the report as C:\CATTLE_PAYMENT_EMAIL\CATTLE_PAYMENT.PDF absolutely fine.
However it errors on the final line of code "Name File As NewFileName" with Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument.

I have tried all of the following: Renaming the variables, compacting and repairing the database, running the code on another computer, cross-referencing other access programs that run the same code to make sure they contain the same references, checking all the code on the same database to make sure the variables are not declared twice, checked the form for anything named the same as the variables.

I have 6 references:
1. Visual Basic For Applications
2. Microsoft Access 14.0 Object Library
3. OLE Automation
4. Microsoft Activex Data Objects 2.1 Library
5. Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library
6. Microsoft Outlook 14.0 Object Library

Here is the code:

'Save Cattle Payments Report
Dim File As String
Dim NewFileName As String
Dim MsgAtt As String

Answer:Access 2010: Rename File & RunTime error 5

I can't really think of anything that would cause that to happen other than an MS Security Download affecting the Registry.
Can I ask why you save the File as "C:\CATTLE_PAYMENT_EMAIL\CATTLE_PAYMENT.PDF" and then rename it "C:\CATTLE_PAYMENT_EMAIL\" & [FileName] & ".PDF"?
Why not just save it as "C:\CATTLE_PAYMENT_EMAIL\" & [FileName] & ".PDF" in the first place?

My friends
Every few moments I have several pop ups occur which all started at the same time and seem to be interconnected. I have the C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe, MSI, a path/file error 75, and a vcs_web file constantly prompt me to RE-install Microsoft Visual Studio which i have done several times and the problem still persists. Since all these pop-ups have occurred my Firefox always say the Program needs to close, and my internet explorer doesnt seem to work either.
I spoke to Dell, but the guy didnt seem knowledgable, he said I NEED microsoft visual studio, but i dont see how that will help my situation since the vcs_web file always asks me to install the Microsoft Visual Studio Express and after I install it the notes say it was a successful installation, but a few moments later it asks me to install it again.
I have done a registry, MCAFEE, and dell PC scan and nothing has solved the issue. I even tried a system restore and i noticed my restore points are only 2 days old which is after the problem started, so it wont help. Any intelligent suggestions?

I am in the process of developing an Access 2003 application, and almost done. While I was fixing some errors with controls on one of the reports, seems like the database corrupted. Now, I keep getting "microsoft office access has detected corruption in this file....etc". It instructs me to Compact & Repair, but when I get the same error message when I try that. If I open a blank database & try to import objects from the corrupted database, I cannot access/view the objects of the corrupted file from the blank database. Unfortunately, I dont have a backup of the file, I can try to restore to an earlier storage point (using System Restore), but will lose considerable work. Any ideas?

Hello All,
Strange things happened when I tried to access a NAS share using my windows 7 PC.

Steps:

1. Access "\\ipaddress" and login in. -> success.

2. Click any folder listed -> Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found.

3. Wait for a while. Click the folder again -> success.

However on other PCs, windows 7 or 8, I got no error. I tried the fixes proposed online and found that configuring "Windows Credential Manager" works for me. But no one explained why.

So I traced the packets in wireshark and found that the windows 7 client sent a strange smb2 packet to samba server after clicking the folder.

The wrong message looks like "Tree Connect Request Tree: \\ipaddress". According to smb2 protocol, the tree connect function requires a buffer in the form "\\ip\sharename". Obviously, my PC sent a wrong message and got the error back.

Why my Windows 7 client sent the path without sharename, others don't?
How to avoid it?
If you need more info, please ask.

HELP!!!

Every time I download a winamp skin from their site it comes up with the error message stated in the subject after it has downloaded 99% of the file!

When downloading, the file is temporarily placed in here:

"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\6j8XMZO1\filename"

Is it just because I am not logged in as an administrator, or is it something else???

How can I overcome this problem???

Cheers )

Answer:Error message "Access to the specified device, path, or file is denied" when download

It is indeed probably because you are not logged in as the Admin. When you download skins for Winamp, they self extract and install to the proper directory. Sounds like the skin is coming down OK but when it goes to extract and install, it stops as you don't have access.

Whenever I try to open a PDF file, I get the message that there is a problem with my Adobe Acrobat Reader. After clicking OK, I keep getting this message:

Windows cannot access the specific device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

which is under the heading of:

C:\Documents and Settings\Alfio\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\5JII7HDM?

The letters & numbers at the end (after "Content.IE5\" are not always the same.

I've installed and uninstalled the newest version of Acrobat, but still get the same result.

Someone suggested using a different program instead of Adobe's, which I will probably do, but I'm more concerned with the idea that the problem is related to my registry.

I also cannot download the Adobe Flash Player, so maybe it is just an issue with Adobe programs on my computer, but this only started happening after I had to get rid of some viruses on my computer. Everything else seems to be fine, with no more virus problems, but I don't know how to go about dealing with this permission issue.

Thank you.

Alfio

Recent changes:
We recently removed 5 out of 6 total 2008R2 DCs from our environment and promoted 5 x 2016 servers as DCs. We are still running the domain functional level @ 2008R2 however.
Single forest 2 domain environment
Shortly have recent changes (stated above) the issue started with 5 users in parent domain. After existing user logs in applications like windows explorer, internet explore, will error with "windows cannot access the specified
device, path or file. you may not have the appropriate permission to access the item". Also, other applications will not run as they are attempting to resister OCX file and DLLs. cannot access computer management even after granting affected
user local admin rights. This issue has now transcended to child domain and is affecting at the moment only 1 existing user.
Unaffected users are able to login to same test computer and run applications without issue.
Clearly a domain permission problem with the user account, but not sure how to proceed.
For testing I gave affected users domain admin rights and the issue goes away. Remove domain admin rights and the issue returns for the user.
Any ideas?

Hi,Ok, for the past few days my system has been giving me grief. I made the mistake of clicking on a file uploaded to RapidShare and after downloading it, the file disappeared in the blink of an eye (I kid you not). So I downloaded it again and clicked on the file through the download manager and it disappeared again. Weird. I also noticed when the computer is just idle (when I'm not using it) the IE browser would pop up on it's own with two windows of ads. Now, IE is on my system but I don't use it - I am a faithful Firefox user at the moment. Anyway, I strongly believe that RapidShare file is the problem. But it could be something else I guess. Come to think about it, it might be something else because I also clicked on a four JPG images from an email a client of mine sent me (I think by mistake though) and the image wouldn't open either for some strange reason. I've never had a problem opening up JPG files before.I have also downloaded and installed Spybot, Spywareblaster, and TrendMicro software. SpywareBlaster is actually working. But the other two I get the message when attempting to open them: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. Hello experts! I get the following message when I click on my internet explorer:

windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them.

I am the adminstrator on my machine, which runs on XP. I have tried the following:

1. installing IE8 - did not work.
2. uninstalling my AV software (McAfee) - made no difference, now I can't re-install it.

I am fairly certain there is a virus(trojan) lurking about, especially because I am re-directed to websites other than the ones I click on; my System Information is empty; and random sites pop-up when I am on the internet.

Right now, I have accessed the internet by using iexplore.exe on my flash drive.

Thanks!

Code:

The Error I get is:

Sounds like you might have a missing Active X control. Open the DB, then open the VBE (Alt+F11). Go to Tools-References. Are there any references in there that say they're missing? If so, you should still be able to see the file name that it's looking for, and find it somewhere on the web.

Any ideas?

Answer:How to fix corruption error in Microsoft Access database

It is sometimes a good idea to decompile your database and then compacting and repairing. I had a similar issue just the other week, my database kept of throwing an error "File not found" however i have no code within my DB that searching or references ANY file. I just decompiled the code and it all worked again..Create a shortcut and enter the below into the taget, you can also copy paste a shortcut and edit the target to the below. You will need the path to where MS ACCESS is installed and the path to where you database is stored. Then run the shortcut and it should decompile your database. Once you've sucessfully done that, compact and repair it again."C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\MSACCESS.EXE" "c:\YourDatabaseName.mdb" /decompilemessage edited by AlwaysWillingToLearn

I have a bit of a problem. The thing is when working with access and the database has errors in it and it is connected to the delphi program using an ado connection string and all the tables are set to true in the program last time you saved. The program wont open again. It simply dissapears. This happens when using delphi 6; However this problem is fixed in delphi 7, so I used delphi 7 to open my project only then it came up with an error with dbmemo datafield. Its like its not possible to use dbmemo when using Delphi 7. This has happened before. And then I was programming using win 98, delphi 6 , access and saved my work to a cd. I then opened it on my laptop using winxp and it didtn't work. I tried it on two other laptop's that use winxp and no luck

Any Ideas?

We have several users that access a web based databse through their web browser. The database is hosted and managed by a separate company.

One of our users has told us of an error she receives. It is seemingly random: She might try to access a record and will get the error, or might not get the error. Or might get the error one time, and not the next. It is unpredictable.

The error is displayed on actual web browser page, it is not a dialog box or an error that the browser is encountering.

The information from the error is as follows:

VB Error Number: -2147217900 [0x80040E14]
Err.Description: [IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver][DB2 UDB]SQL0104 - Token BIAVNB was not valid. Valid tokens: FOR WITH FETCH ORDER UNION EXCEPT OPTIMIZE.

Our first thought was that this was a server side error. This one user is the ONLY user who received the error, ever, as far as we know. We thought perhaps it was a problem with her account with the database management system. However, we decided to let another user to try it using the first user's computer. The second user used her own login with the web based database, and she also began to receive this error. This leads us to beleive that the problem is the computer in use, and not anything on the database side.

However, I am baffled as to what would cause such a thing to happen.

Does anyone know of certain files that could be... Read more

Hello all,

After a long hiatus, I am trying to get a hockey database working. It was originally created in Access 97 and was recently converted to Access 2000.

One of the key forms in the database is one that I use to enter the results of each game. The primary form records basic information such as how many goals were scored in what period, and a recap.

There is a subform that looks like a spreadsheet, with columns for team name, player, and individual actions, so there is one row for each goal or penalty that occurred in the game.

In the subform, when you select a team from the drop-down, the next field (the player drop-down) is populated with the valid list of players on that team. I did this by running the following after someone selects a team:

Option Compare Database
Option Explicit

Private Sub Team1_AfterUpdate()
DoCmd.Requery "Player_ID1"
DoCmd.Requery "Assist1"
DoCmd.Requery "Assist2"
End Sub

This worked fine last year, but once I opened it and converted it to 2000, I get the following error as soon as I select a team from the list:

Runtime error 2488:
You can't use the ApplyFilter action on this window.

When I go into debug mode, it's hung up on the first DoCmd.Requery row in the above sub.

Now, this thing was put together originally with much help from much more talented people than me, and I literally have not touched Access since then, so what little expertise I had has flown out the window. So, I might be hard-pr... Read more

I have several remote locations that collect data in an .mdb format. These are ziped to diskettes daily and unzipped to a master computer in the main office for processing.

The main pc is(was) running Access 97, and the remote locations are running a custom application that was built by some 3rd party.

This was all working just fine, untill I switched out master pc's with one that had Access 2000 on it. I tried to run it on the 200, but did not have any luck, so I installed 97 in addition to the 2000. I got the error message. I uninstalled both versions of access(leaving the remainder of the office2000 install in place. I then re-installed access97 only and am getting the same message.

The error message is Runtime error 3041. Can't open a database created with a previous version of your application.

the debug shows this line as the problem.

"DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink, "Microsoft Access", "c:\tickets\Tickets.mdb", acTable, "TicketNo", "scalehouse", False"

Can anybody help me, or recomend another forum where I might get some help. This is a very important part of our operation.

Thanks
sbowman

Hello,
I have a problem during the installion of a software (the software is Battery 4 by Native Instrument)
When the installation starts, this error occurs:

Runtime error in setup script:

Line 438: access violation at address 74A715DA in module 'version.dll'. Read of address 00000004

So I cannot complete the installation.
How can I fix this error?

Thanks

Answer:Runtime error (access violation)

Hello and welcome MBMB mate try a sfc and chkdsk first see if the system is up to scratch and then if that comes back ok well I suppose you could scan the software disk for malware or just get back to the manufacturers re the problem it may be incompatible with Windows??

Get the Malwarebytes and when up and running set it to scan the D: drive with that disk in.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Disk Check

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer < watch out for the trial tick box untick it or it will annoy the heck out of you.

Hi Everyone
On my Windows XP SP2 and Windows 7 (so the latest version of Windows) computers, I am trying to run desktop software which freezes in the meantime of gathering datas from some server or some other online location. Since it freezes I have to close it inside the taskbar but after it is closed, I get the error which is mentoined in the Topic Title of this message. I already made sure about Firewall and its no problem in that because I don't even have it (just disabled windows one). I also made sure that I don't have a problem with memory (cpu / rams). While my research I saw that the problem might be in activex controls because i didn't know how to check if I have them. So I decided to just download activex and i downloaded it from:

http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Mozilla-ActiveX-Control-Download-20072.html

I noticed (don't know if this is true or not) that many programs have their own activex controls. I coudln't find activex for the software which produces an error so I just downloaded some random activex controls: in this case the browser's one which im using - firefox but the software is NOT being runned through firefox.
Towards fixing the issue mentoined in the title, I think its the best to be focused on activex first because I have instinct activex is still the reason. I might not installed correct ones, they might not work or software requires other/additional ones. Is there any way to check this?
Perhaps any other way (instea... Read more

I have an MS Access Database 2010 running on SQL 2008 R2; front end is Access 2010, It is configured to allow remote Runtime users to access it.

I have Firewall exceptions set up for TCP port 1433 and UDP port 1434. I also have an exception for file sharing.

When trying to log into my database using runtime from remote computers I get this error:

Connetion Failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 10060

Connetion Failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 17
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

If I turn the firewall off I can access the database remotely using Runtime with no problems.

Here is the firewall log:

Hi,

I have a lot of Access 2003 databases running on site. I want to have a runtime version of the apps so that i don't have to purchase the full access 2003 for the users. When i open a database, i can view the employee data for example. When i go to right click on this to sort or filter, no menu appears. Is there a way to enable this menu on a runtime version. I created the runtime version using the Developer extensions package wizard.

Please help,

Kevin

Answer:Cannot right-click a database in Access 2003 Runtime Version

I do not know whether or not the "runtime" version supports table filtering.
One alternative is to provide the users with a form(s) to do the filtering by queries, which is more powerful and can be more user friendly.

In our company we decided to upgrade our old Access 2003 at last. And after this upgrading I can?t load any .mdb files. They are inaccessible. Every attempt to open it is accompanied by an error: ?An error occurred while loading Form_FormName. Do you want to continue?? If I click Yes, then pops up another error: ?Invalid procedure call or argument?. Colleagues tell me that it a cause of corruption and that the cause is upgrading of the Access I want to know, is it true? Which follow-up actions do we make?

Answer:An error occurred while loading Form in Access database

Hi Quetzal, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Later versions of Access use an .accdb suffix & not the .mdb suffix & this is the cause of your problem. As you mentioned updating from Access 2003 I assume you are now using Access 2013, so these websites might help you.
In the first one scroll down to the links contained in it & follow those as well. The second one may not be relevant but it does contain some info that might be of interest to you.

This may go along with the other post I started here and it may not. That is where you come in.

The company I just started working for is using a program that uses a Access Database with all of the info in it. This program was written in what I believe is Crystal language according to what I have gathered from doc types. It gives reports in .rpt format and I saw something else that said Crystal and so I looked it up and it was a language. The doc type is also a crystal report doc type apparently.

This program accesses the database and brings up model numbers and info about it. Now, normally we can put in these 3 fields needed and hit add to batch, then print batch and it will print. Something happened where now if we do it, once we hit print I get,

"Runtime error 3421- Data Type Conversion Error"

Apparently before the error this time, they would enter a letter or something instead of a number and it would give an error message. It would still show up in the access report though. Then my boss would go into the database and delete the bad entries and apparently it would work again.

Now we are having an issue where we get this error no matter what. They put in the same 3 fields as numbers and this error pops up. I cannot figure out why it is doing this and the program is basically useless right now. These entries are not showing up in the database either. We deleted all of the old entries that were made into the database and nothing... Read more

Answer:Run time error 3421 when using program that uses Access Database

WELL I FIXED IT! It was indeed an issue where an extra letter not a number got typed into a quantity field. Instead of being "6" it was "6B". I deleted the B and everything started working. I can't believe it was that easy. The reason I didn't catch it earlier was because it was in a completely different file than the one it uses to pull the information from. Apparently my boss didn't know that or whatever I am not sure. The program was open and so the access file was locked but I saw another access file was also locked. So I decided to see what that file was and I noticed the lookups in a table that we were trying to do every time we got an error. I then noticed the "6B" pretty fast and thought, no way it could have been this easy. But of course it was. Like it always is. He just told me that he used the other file. Well now I know!

Quite unexpectedly, I developed this problem.

I have a module in Access automatically formats and sends an email. It has been working just fine. Now I get this error message and I have no idea why.

I am on a new computer, Vista, Office 2007. Have had it for a month. The emailing has worked fine, until today. From what I have read, it can be a result of something not being registered properly, but if it was running earlier, it should still be running now I would think.

Any ideas?

I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this one out.

I'm using VBA in IBM Reflections to call an Access database and run a query. I am gettting a type mismatch error on the last line of the code below. This code works fine on about 6 other machines but keeps giving the mismatch error on one specific pc that is running the exact same version of Access and has the exact same references set. Can anyone shed some light on what might be causing this? Each machine has reference to Microsoft DAO 3.6 and none have any reference to ADO.
Code:

Dim db As DAO.Database
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Dim qd As DAO.QueryDef
Set objaccess = CreateObject("Access.Application")
objaccess.OpenCurrentDatabase filepath:=dbname ' dbname is a variable value.
Set dbs = objaccess.CurrentDb
Set qd = dbs.QueryDefs!full_range_by_key 'This line gives the error

However, if I convert the query entirely to vba and run it like this:

Set db = CurrentDb
Set rst = db.OpenRecordset _
("SELECT Count(tblSeatStatus.SeatCode) AS UsedSeasonTckts INTO ztblUsedSeasonTckts " & _

"tblYearlyProductions.ProductionIDNo = tblPerformanceSched.ProductionIDNo) INNER JOIN tblSeatStatus ON " & _
"(tblPerformanceSched.PerformanceIDNo = tblSeatStatus.PerformanceIDNo) AND " & _
"(tblYearlyProductions.ProductionIDNo = tblSeatStatus.ProductionIDNo)) ON tblTcktOrders.TcktOrderIDNo = tblSeatStatus.TcktOrderIDNo " & _

"HAVING tblYearlyProductions.ProductionIDNo= " & [Forms]![frmHouseBookingStatus]![ProductionIDNo] & " AND tblTcktOrders.OrderType='1'")

I get runtime error 3219 -- Invalid Operation.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Answer:Access--query in vba, runtime error 3219

Well, first, you are combining VBA (to start) with SQL, which is an easy thing to mess up.
I am no coder, but you might try inserting something like this:
Dim strSQL As String
strSQL = "... THE SQL STATEMENT GOES HERE ...”
DoCmd.RunSQL strSQL

Hi,

Answer:SETX command: error: Access tot he registry path is denied

Hi,

According the issue, I suspect that you could boot Windows 7 in Clean Boot, and try to run CMD.exe as administrator then check the issue again.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

If the issue persists, you could contact the provider to get more information about this behavior and whether it would change any registry key. Also make sure whether
this behavior is allowed.

On the other hand, you could use Process Monitor to check which registry key cause this issue:
1.
Download

Process Monitor. Run Cmd.exe as administrator.
2.
Run Process Monitor, enter the command in prompt window
3.
Stop Process Monitor after this error appears, save the log as a PML file.
4.
Upload the file via SkyDrive and post a link here.
http://explore.live.com/windows-live-skydrive?wa=wsignin1.0

After you uploading the log file, I would assist you to check the last registry keys which this process accessed. Then please check the owner of this registry. Please remember to click ?Mark as Answer? on the post that helps you, and to click ?Unmark as Answer? if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I have found from several forums and support sites including Microsoft that many users are asking solution for the error generating by MS Access 2010 or 2007 while running their custom made Access 2003 database usually after after upgrade.
The error is showing as "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: The expression you entered has a function name that Microsoft Office Access can't find."

The solution is as below:
This error is causing due to disabled macro setting by default. So you will need to enable the macro as per the following method.
Go to File > Options > Trust Center
Then Click on "Trust Center Settings".
Here click on the Option " Show the Message Bar ... ..."
Re-open the Access File in exclusive mode
Now click on the yellow message bar on to to enable macro..... ..... problem solved.

I'm working on a search form in Access 2010 that when the reset button is clicked, all of the controls in the form's header is cleared of info (All combo boxes, text boxes are cleared). I've used this code on 3 other search forms with no problem, but when I try it on this one, a dialog box pops up that reads, "Run-time error '2448': You cannot assign a value to this object" When I hit the debug button it highlights the line of code that just clears the controls for combos and texts. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong with it. Like i said, I have the exact same code being used in other search forms, with no problems.
Code:
Dim ctl As Control

'Clear all the controls in the Form Header section.
For Each ctl In Me.Section(acHeader).Controls
Select Case ctl.ControlType
Case acTextBox, acComboBox
ctl.Value = Null '<--- This is the line that get highlighted when i press the debug button on the error message
'Case acCheckBox
' ctl.Value = False
End Select
Next

I encounter the following error when running an Access 2003 MDE application.

"Function is not avaiable in expressions in query expressions".

The VBA functions this error refers to are "InStr" and "Format" which have been used within 2 queries.

The application works fine on the developement PC which has a full version of Access 2003 installed.

The PC in question runs Windows XP, Office 2003 Standard and Access 2003 runtime. I've also installed MDAC 2.8 which is the version the original MDB uses.

Seeing that the PC has only the runtime Access installed, I'm unable to check if there are any references missing.

Even running the following code from within a command button to see which references are missing produces an error.

Dim ref As Reference
Dim strOut As String

For Each ref In Access.References
strOut = strOut & vbCrLf & ref.Name & IIf (ref.IsBroken, " Missing", "OK ") & vbCrLf & ref.FullPath & vbCrLf
Next ref

MsgBox strOut

I get the following error when trying to run this:

"The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: There was a problem referencing a property or method of the object."

Has anyone encountered a similar problem or have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Steve

Answer:Access 2003 Runtime Error - Function not available in expressions

The reference libraries are more currnet on the development PC than the production PC. I had the very same problem this week and it is pretty easy to fix. Open your DB on the production PC giving you the error, go to the modules section and go to New module. At the top of the VB window go to Tools > Reference. THere should be a listing that states "not installed" or something to that effect. Unchck the entry and clost the VB editor and open the db again.

Hi All,

Attempting to set the CloseButton property for a subform via a Module, the module is referred to via On Current:

Private Sub Form_Current()
Call basForms.SubFormsSetup(Me)End SubClick to expand...

And the Module (basForms) is:

Sub SubFormsSetup(FormName)
FormName.CloseButton = FalseEnd SubClick to expand...

But I just get a Run-Time error 2448, "You can't assign a value to this object".

Real confused as to why its not working.

I am getting the same error now with my Outlook 2016 backup plugin , the plugin works but hits the denied error. This tells me it is something other than the software or the plugin. I don't know if it is maybe a win defender issue or what it may be, I am stumped.
I have checked permissions for both the outlook.pst file and the default folder it sits in documents/outlook files/
I have full permissions with both.

Anyone have any idea why this may have all of a sudden started? I'd be ever so grateful.

Win 10 64 up to date/Office 2016 up to date.

cheers

I have a access database with about 17000 contacts.

I email reports to customers through access which then goes through outlook.

Recently this has stopped working and i am receiving the error
-2147418107 (80010005) It is illegal to call out while inside message filter. The database is about 400MB is size so i tried using the compact and repair database option but had no luck.

Sometimes i will receive this error and other times it will just hang

The error happens on other computers at the workplace as well so its not isolated to a single computer

This is the second time in a couple years, that I have had problems updating my program Incredimail. I LIKE Incredimail, I've used it for many years.
The last time that I got these error messages, I finally set up a new user, and gave it full administrative privileges. When I needed to update IM I would go into this user, and update the program in there and it updated for my user also. NOW I'm getting the same message in both accounts? I am the only one that uses this computer, so it makes no sense to me, to keep setting up user accounts. I realize Win7 doesn't like this program...I worked with the IM tech. support last time before doing another user account, and they insisted that it was my problem, not an Incredimail problem...I hate to say it, but I guess this is true, as I have had this same problem updating another program.
I have two attachments if I am ever allowed to attach a jpg.
Update: Images added.

Hi Janice, you could post the URLs of the images, without writing www/http and someone will fix the URL for you.

We use weather.com radar maps for scientific research and watch the weather avidly. We put in the city, state and at the bottom of that page there is an interactive map using virtual earth that shows the weather radar and you can zoom in and so on. Last week it quit working. It's the only thing that isn't working and it's a major pain. Normally when you click on the map to make it larger and animate it, it goes to a new window and starts the radar moving. Now it show a blank square, everything else comes up, ads, so on, just not the radar. There is an error code that pops up at the bottom of the screen with a yellow triangle and an exclamation point. When I click on it this is what it says " CHAR 6660 ....unexpected call to property or method access"

I have checked windows for any further updates, ran virus check, spybot, updated Java...updated adobe player, flash player. Nothing changes. the radar map still doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello saddleman,

It sounds like a scripting problem on the website itself. Can you post a link to the site in question?

Hi
My system is running Win 7 Professional 32 bit with 4gig RAM
I am experiencing a problem installing a piece of software - Laplink PC Mover - I need to migrate to my new machine.
The installer starts and the grinds to a halt with the error message:
"Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Laplink PCMover Professional\Visit Laplink.com.url. Verify that you have access to that directory"
I understand from Laplink Tech Support that this is a generic Windows Installer problem, and searching the web it seems to crop up a lot.
I have done a lot of searching, including this site.
I have tried the solutions I have found so far:

Run as Administrator [my user profile has administrator rights but I tried that anyway]Run from the Administrator user accountInstall in Safe Mode - Windows tells me the installer is not available in safe mode!!!Un-registering and re-registering the installer via msiexecUsing the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions
After all of this, I get the same result - the installer halts with the same message.
Can anybody help? I am desperate to avoid two days solid re-installing all my expensive software, finding product keys etc.

Answer:Error 1310. Error writing to file....Verify that you have access to that directory

Thanks
I had tried a clean boot [disabling all non-MS services] but had the same problem.
In the end, I contacted Microsoft support who took remote control of the PC and reset permissions etc with "Repair Windows" from tweaking.com. Whole process took a few hours.
Cost me £65, but worth it to save my remaining hair!
Software then installed okay.

I'm building a project database, which lists all the projects being managed by a company

database can be downloaded here:
http://www.seacology.org/Seacology Projects (debug).zip

The function I'm working on is in the frm_find_specific_projects form. It's the onClick event of the filter button (cmdFilter), on the right side of the form.

I've cut out 90% of the code for this button. In the full version, there's a section of code detecting if each control on the search form is complete, but in this version I'm just checking the combo box that allows the user to specify what Status the displayed projects should contain (the second control on the page, after the Quick Search box).

The idea here is to get the syntax down and the filter working so I can use a similar format for the other controls.

Right now, I'm hitting a Runtime Error 5, which you'll see if you try hitting the Filter button on the form.

The eventual goal is to make it so the user can choose multiple criteria with which to filter down the project listing in the subform, at the bottom of the search form. It does this by checking to see if a control has a value, and if it does, it adds the relevant table/query, column, and condition to the three strings that hold the relevant parts of the SQL query: strSQLSELECT, strSQLFROM, and strSQLWHERE. Then at the end it cleans up the strings and merges merges them into a single SQL statement and uses that statement to filter the s... Read more
