Preferred Solution: HELP wrong installation of drivers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: HELP wrong installation of drivers

The bios loads way before windows loads..

restart your pc and keep tapping F2 or DEL key to enter bios setting..

or you can keep tapping F12 to enter the boot options menu to select, boot from setup media, then re-install OS and correct drivers

So I have a T400.  P9400, Radeon HD3xxx (forget specifically), 4gb ram, other what nots. I recently installed win7 over vista, and when I ran thinkvantage to automatically grab all my drivers for me it installed drivers for the intel chipset graphics, rather than the better ati graphics. When I go totry and install any ati graphics it constantly tells me its not there, and under device manager it says only the intel chipset is present.  There is nothing under the install/uninstall menu for me to get rid of the drivers, so I can't uninstall those and install the ati ones over it. What makes this ridiculous is that when I first checked thinkvantage it told me that I had an ati card without drivers, and that I should get them. However it never installed them, now it cant find it, it says everything is great, and this is REALLY starting to piss me off.  What do?

Hello Folks...........

My C: drive recently started giving me HD521-2W error when I ran "PC Doctor 5 for Windows" diagnostic multiple times in the past few weeks.

I created backup images of both the partitions on this 320 GB HD ( Active partition named "HP_Pavilion" and Primary partition named "HP_Recovery") onto an external USB drive using Macrium Free edition.

I later took PC to a PC repair shop and installed a new 320 GB WD hard drive. However, he DID NOT create 2 partitions as the old drive BUT he made this new drive bootable and downloaded all the necessary drivers.

My questions are :

# 1 ) Is there a tool or an utility I can use to download all the drivers CURRENTLY installed on the old hard drive onto a CD/DVD for later Clean Install of XP?

# 2) How can I make this new hard drive look exactly like the old drive - I mean, it must have 2 partitions using Macrium backups images I already created ?

I hope, I explained this situation to best of my knowldge and created least amount of confusion.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
I came across an issue that I find confusing. Whilst trying to install a software to run a mobile USB flash modem, the software pops this message:

*************************************************************
your current device installation settings is configured to prefer drivers from Windows Update over locally installed
drivers. This can cause Unlimited data Manager not to work correctly.

do you want to change the settings to prefer locally installed drivers over Windows Update?
**********************************************************

What does it imply if I change my settings to prefer locally installed drivers over windows update drivers?
And can this action be undone and where/how? (I searched my machine but didn't find where this option is)

Thank you for reading

Hello, I followed the steps in the page 5 of this document: http://h20565.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5443866&docId=emr_na-c03995716&docLocal... The install_id it gives me is supposed to be like : 1249679, but I've got a number with 10 digits. When I try to input it in the site to have my license keys, it doesn't work. I used my local ip for the curl command (I have no internet connexion on my HP VM, maybe the problem is here?) Maybe I need a global ip for the registration, I don't know.

Some background: I recently installed a new SSD on my Dell Studio PC and cloned my hard drive to the SSD so that Windows 7 would boot from the SSD. However, to do this, I needed to delete (after backup) a lot of files before cloning so that the drive would fit.
After having a lot of issues, including my back up software suddenly not recognizing backups etc, I finally managed to restore most of my files. Part of the process I followed was changing locations of some user files (such as My Pictures) to the old hard drive.
Anyway, I have had lots of issues with Windows since, with losses of icons etc and programs not working, some of which I have now seemed to have corrected by restoring some of my files in appdata folder. However, I've never been able to bring all these files back as I get messages saying some cannot be moved due to security settings.
Now, I am unable to open files such as explorer.exe and control panel! One message said that the username I was logged in as had prevented me from access.
This all seems bizarre and confusing to me and any help would be appreciated.
Nb: I'm detailing this all from memory whilst on a train so specifics could be a bit fuzy. I can check error messages etc when I get home if that helps.

I'm re-installing Win 7 64bit from the Microsoft disc supplied with my computer, and have been following the clean install tut no.1649. All seemed well, but at point 16, when I had confirmed the timezone the next screen wasn't as shown, but the desktop (pic 18 of 19), and nothing else.
The screen resolution was was 800 x 600 and the best I can set it to via display is 1400 x 1050 when it should be 1920 x 1080. Also I am connected to the internet via an ethernet cable, but my screen is showing that there are no connections available.

I was obviously in trouble to re-install, and now feel I am deeper in the mire. Can someone please advise?

Answer:Installation gone wrong? - Help please

You followed the tutorial for Clean Install, ok?

Do you have the Graphics Card's Driver CD? Install the driver.

If you dont have, Go to AMD Graphics Drivers & Software, download the required display driver, and install it.

Everything will be OK, dont worry

I wish I could attribute this to someone other than me...
We have a new Dell XPS that came with XP installed. One our techs messed up the installed version of XP (long story). She asked me to reinstall XP with the disk that came with the computer. While doing the install, I accepted the default installation location, which was evidently the "D" drive. Of course, Office and everything else is having fits b/c its looks for default paths on "C".

Is there anyway to move XP to the C Drive without doing a full reinstallation? (please tell me there is)

If I do have to do a full installation to get XP on C, how do I get it off of D?

Can I change the drive letters using the Disk Mgt Option (i.e. change D to C), and is this a good option?

Thanks in Advance!!

Answer:XP Installation on Wrong Drive

Eh, with that much going wrong, might as well wipe the drive and put it all back on the right way, you'll probably just run into little nitpicky things down the road if you don't.

If there's any data on there you need, back it up and wipe it.

I have a Dell Latitude D810 with Windows XP Pro SP3. A while ago I got a 60 day trial for Microsoft Office Professional 2007 from microsoft.com and it has expired. As a Christmas gift my family got me the Academic version of Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 with Accounting (for my parents).
I uninstalled the trial version of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 and installed the first disk of Microsoft Office Ultimate which installs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Groove, Publisher, Access, and InfoPath.
After I installed the first disk everything was running fine, but when I tried to install the second disk I recieved a message saying that the setup failed and it told me it had something to do with SQL Server. What is this? What does it do?
I thought that maybe I had to reboot my computer before I could do anything because I had installed the first disk. After rebooting, my computer said: "SQLDUMPER failed initialization your installation is either corrupt or it has been tampered with. Please contact the package vendor or uninstall then reinstall."
I can't uninstall Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 and so under the impression that I screwed the installation up somewhere I tried to use System Restore to go back before I uninstalled the trial version of Microsoft Office Professional 2007.
The restore was successful and I no longer recieved the message reading: "SQLDUMPER failed initialization your installation is either corru... Read more

Answer:New Software Installation goes Wrong!

Hey, guys,

I was tryin' to install Windows 7 on my laptop when it came up with a Windows Error Recovery. It told me that windows had failed to start maybe because of a recent hardware or software change, and it also suggested me to fix the problem by inserting the installation disc. Unfortunately, the disc drive of my laptop could not work any more. I tried entering the safe mode but it told me that windows could not be installe at the mode. the Last known good configuration wouldn't work, either. Would anyone please let me know what the rpoblem is and what I can do? Thanks!

I have an old install of XP left on an additional harddrive after I got a bigger drive and reinstalled... but now all of a sudden that's the only one it'll boot to! I had some other issues (caused, believe it or not by AVG).. and in the process of that I ran a repair installation over my new and proper XP.. with all the other drives disconnected.. and it was working fine, but as soon as I hook up the other drives... BLAM it's booting into the old install again. Now in disk management it's listed as the Boot Drive and the one that SHOULD be System is listed as active... i read something about making it active to make it boot from that drive... but it's not working.. what is the easiest way to modify where it boots from? I have been trying through the recovery console with fixmbr but that didn't work... i feel like there should be something more straightforward though!

note: the drive with windows that i want to boot off of IS listed first in the hdisk boot priority in the bios...

Answer:wrong installation of XP is booting

Be sure your "Proper" boot drive is the one listed first in The BIOS boot order. The nomenclature can be confusing. For that matter, just switch the boot order and see what happens.

I installed Windows 7 Pro and by lameness checked Ultimate. Now windows pops up as counterfeit.

I really don't want to remove all my files and programs to reinstall Pro so they don't get wiped. IF I purchase Ultimate and install over what Microsoft says is the counterfeit windows 7 Ultimate version, will Windows still recognize the proper 7 Ultimate install and/or will everything get wiped anyway.

Thank you.

Welcome Pauljay to the windows forums.

If you have installed the ultimate version and you then go to MS and pay for the ultimate version, all you should have to do is to enter the code into your registration and it should then validate and you should be ok. Otherwise, I believe that you better copy all the data and anything else you want to save to an external device and then do a boot of the dvd and delete the existing partitions and then reformat and install the correct version.
Calling microsoft might help as they will be glad to sell you the ultimate version but I think that the PRO version is probably more than most people would need.

I upgraded to Windows 10 a week ago. I noticed in Control Panel / Programs & Features that about 30 programs have an "Installed On" date of yesterday when they were actually installed ages ago and another 20 or so programs have an "Installed On" date of 10 June when I upgraded to Windows 10. The rest on the dates appear to be correct. this also happens on my laptop I did a clean install on a few months ago so it looks like a bug in Windows. It's actually quite irritating since I like to sort my programs by date just to see if anything has been installed recently without my knowledge.

What's going on and why isn't Windows showing the actual installation dates?

Answer:Wrong Program Installation Dates!

You will probably find that yesterday you had a significant W10 update which has reset the dates on a number of your programs.

This is my first post, and I did a quick search and didn't see my problem, so I hope I didn't look over something that was already in here.Okay, I have a Toshiba Satellite S-...something or other, that, up until yesterday, was running Windows XP. I bought a usb 2.0 pc mcia card, but it wouldn't install correctly because I apparently didn't have SP-1 installed. I tried to install sp-1, and then restarted. XP loaded, and I made it to the login page, and I got an error. I forget the exact message, but it was something to the effect that it couldn't verify windows or a license I think. I clicked okay, and tried to logon, but I just got the message again.Figuring I messed up the installation, I restarted in safe mode, and did a system restore.Upon rebooting, I found that this didn't help.>.> Then I tried to tell the system to use the last known good configuration. (I think that was kinda dumb now, but I was flailing. ;_;)I restarted, and I saw the os loader screen, then a really quick blue flash, and then the screen went black, and it shut down. It stated to restart on its own, and just went in a loop. Os screen for a bit, blue flash, black, restart. It does this when I try to start in safe mode as well.Obviously, I can get into the bios and such, I just can't get windows to start.I started in one mode (I don't know which one, sorry) and it said that I had Windows XP SP-1, so I guess the installation was at least partially successful.I have the system restore discs that came ... Alicia:Yeah, when i installed service pack 2 for the first time, Windows XP would not let me log on till i activated Windows again, because it was 40 days past the date i originally installed Windows XP.  You can try starting the computer with the system restoration CD and doing a repair installation (that is, if this option is available on the restoration CD).  Then, you can reinstall the service pack and activate Windows if you are connected to the Internet (or call the Microsoft phone number indicated if you are not).http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspxIf the option to do a repair installation is not available, the only way to get to your files is to connect the hard drive to another laptop (or to a desktop computer with a laptop-to-desktop adapter) as a slave drive and copying the files you want to the other computer, so you can then copy them to a CD-R or DVD-R or other removable storage media.Doc

Hi all, i have reinstalled the windows XP.
When i try to update the SP2 for the system, mircrosoft told me i am not using a right product key.

Then i follow the instructoin to download a KeyUpdate Tool and i put in the product key which under my notebook, it saids it is not the correct key for the windows that i am using.
At the compare product key site, it shows:

OS Version: Windows XP Professional
Manufacturer: TOSHIBA
Model: Satellite M60
Product Key: *****-*****-*****-*****-P6R2Y

It shows correctly the manufacture and the model.
However, i am using a Windows Xp Home Edition and the key from that CD is end with *****-*****-*****-*****-Q6JWG.
And the product key from my notebook is end up with *****-*****-*****-*****-GCFKM.

Then I download the Windows Product Key Update Tool and put in both the product key from the CD and notebook.
Both of them dosen't work. I want to know how can I update the Service Pack for my windows. Can anyone help? Thx!

What can i do for that? Thx!!!!!

Answer:Wrong Windows product key during SP2 installation

Hi

I have read some threads about similar problems with the OS key and the key changing has always helped?
Sometimes Microsoft rates the image keys as incorrect or invalid. Why? I don't know... it's Microsoft you know ;)

Fact is that the key on the CD cover can be used only to activate the installed Microsoft Works or OneNote software on the notebook. The key is not responsible for the Windows OS!
The key which could be used with Win OS is placed at the bottom of the unit.

Well, according to your message you used this key and now I?m a little bit confused?
I think you should make a call to the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country for clearing this problem?

I just performed a clean install of win 8.1 (I couldn't take win 10 fonts anymore). All went fine but because I hadn't loaded Dell drivers yet, my wired internet wasn't working. So in order to connect with Dell and download drivers, I connected to my wireless.

No problem -- internet access worked fine and I was able to update all my Dell drivers. This caused my wired internet access to start working. It appears that the system made the wired connection my network (which I wanted) but it is still keeping my wireless router as the network name.

For example, if I display network connections, it shows Wi-Fi none; Wired Ethernet <name of my wireless router>

Is there anyway I can change that name??

Hi everyone,

My computer used to have an HDD running XP. Recently, I got a new HDD and installed Vista 64-bit Home Premium on it. Since it happened a little while ago, I'm not sure quite what happened during the installation. Right now, though the Windows folder and all the program files are on the new drive, I have to have the old drive first in the boot priority, else Vista won't start up. I may have had the old drive first in the boot queue when I installed Vista, but I don't remember.

If I go to the disk manager, the new HDD has (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition) next to it. The old HDD has (System, Active, Primary Partition). So it seems that some basic system files got on the old drive, but everything else is on the new drive.

I would like to eventually format the old drive, but I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to run Vista anymore. Any ideas what happened and how to fix without everyone's favorite cure-all: reformat and reinstall? Is there someway to move whatever system files are on the old drive to the new drive without all sorts of pathing errors?

In case you need it, here are some basic specs:
Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium, SP1
Old HDD: Maxtor MaXLine Pro 500 7H500F0, 500 GB
New HDD: WD VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS, 300 GB
MB: Asus M3A32-MVP

Thanks in advance for any help.

I had all my files saved on the secondary Western Digital 160GB Sata HDD, it was listed first at the time... But I accidentally deleted the volume on it.. Is there a way to get those files back? I had photos, movies, music, some other important files. The whole reason for having them on that secondary drive was to save them (kicking myself), until I installed Windows 7 on the new 500GB Sata HDD... I got a copy of Paragon Partition Manager 11 Personal ... and going through the Undelete Partition wizard now... Any help? Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

PS. I just did the "delete" option in the Windows 7 installation section for "advanced options", the HDDs were there.. but I accidentally hit delete on the 160GB instead... That's all I did with the drive though.

Answer:Went through to Windows 7 installation, deleted wrong HDD volume..

To try and answer your question; yes and no. You can take the drive and try to have it professionally recovered. There are some companies out there that specifically recover data from these types of situations. This can be very expensive and no guarantee. I know this not what you wanted to here.

I have 3 hdd in my system and have made notations as to the location of each drive and how the OS see's each of them...ie 0 is hard drive 1, 1 is hard drive 2 and 2 is hard drive 3, which is the way I have mine installed in the hdd cage...I know that hdd 0 is the 1TB drive and hdd 1 and 2 are 320 GB for backups and data storage. Keeping in mind each drive letter that the OS assigns to each of them. So when a re-install of the OS comes along I know what hdd is what and where.

I would be so grateful if someone could help with this basically I was trying to install drivers in win7 different to the ones windows wanted to install and to do so I read a thread on changing something in a policy I had to run a command which I now can't remember and need to change it back.
it was in gpedit.msc and the command read something like enable blocking windows automatic driver installation.
I have since found I could have done this simply in system... Bit late now huh

If anyone understands this vague description of what I've done.. Please let me know.
or if there is a way to set defaults back
cheers.

Hello, wasn't really sure where to post this but...man.

Side note:this laptop was dropped or stepped on. ill explain in post.

So....I pulled out my personal windows 7 home premium disk to see if it would respond better to that repair menu or access the command prompt with the repair tools but everytime right before the installation menu it would hang up, similiar with the f8 command.

shortly after I received an error stating no valid devices are found and it would no longer read my windows 7 installation disk....system retry failed or something..

so I pulled out a box of old crap moved aside a yearbook and found an old windows 98 cd and precided to try cd booting with that which was a success.

so then i was messing with dos and deleted my partitions and fdisk exited right after...woops thought i would be able to recreate those parts....anyways it closed down and was no longer able to read the drive. prompting a> on start haha and a si... Read more

I currently have Java 8, update 25 (64bit). If I go to the Java website and want to verify java, nothing happens. When I want to print a coupon the coupon website (SmartSource) tells me "Java not installed" even though I meet the criteria for their "supported version" of the browser (IE10) and the operating system : Windows 7. I checked the Java control panel and it is enabled in the browser and the "allow scripting" is also on. This all happened fairly recently and I don't know why. I have uninstalled Java 8 update 25 (64 bit) and downloaded the offline version for a fresh start. It installed properly and it shows in my programs and features of windows. Still problematic. Any ideas?Thank you!message edited by geekiamnot

Answer:What is wrong with Java 8 update 25 (64bit) installation?

Looks like they've changed their minds recently, only a short while back it said that 8.25 was for developers and my 7.71 still says it is up to date. I suspect it makes little difference then - they are both dated Oct 2014. When it was working do you remember what version you had?If there are still old versions around they might cause issues but the Java uninstall Tool still requires you to verify so I doubt this will work either:https://www.java.com/en/download/un...I assume the IE10 you are using is the 64 bit version. Any reason why you prefer not to go for IE11 - just wondering if that might fix it?There are some general tips here:http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10...Interesting that they say the 32 bit version gives fewer issues - maybe it is worth a shot.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A200. During the starting I made a fault.
First screen I choosed French. Second screen I would choose french again, but as it is my first notebook I am not used to the touchpad, I made an error and the starting was made in german.Actually on the screen :
Land/Region Deutschland
Zeit und Wahrung Deutsch
Tastaturlayout Deutsch

Is there a possibility to stop the starting and begin all again in french ?
I don't understand german and everything must be in french.
Thank you for help

Answer:Set wrong language during installation on Satellite A200

Hi there,

you can do the following things:

1. Recover the machine and repeat the procedure, but this time do it RIGHT and choose french.

2. You can go to start -> systemsteuerung -> (something with "Regions- und Sprachoptionen") -> there you should be able to exchange the languages but I am not sure how to do it, because I have just Vista on english.

Good luck

After installation the bios see the drive as 200gb but windows sees it as only 127gb. The drive has only one partition and was formatted using the ntfs. Is there any way i could get windows to see the drive at its correct size so i could utilize the unused space?

Answer:Hard drive wrong size installation

Visit the hard drive manufacturer's website.  Most, if not all, of them have info on their sites about hard drive size limitation issues and how to overcome that.

Dxdiag always used to tell me I had a Radeon HD4350. Now however it is telling me something completely different:

Name: ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series
Chip Type: ATI display adapter (0x954F)

And under notes it says:
-The file atiu9pag.dll,aticfx32.dll,atiumdag.dll,atidxx32.dll,atiumdva.cap is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.

I have tried downloading new drivers to update them, no change. I have tried uninstalling them too but they don't seem to go away.

Any help?

Answer:Something wrong with my ATI Drivers?

If your display has been working fine and the ATI drivers were installed, why are you worried about what the DirectX Diagnostic Tool is telling you?

By uninstalling the ATI drivers, you've probably caused yourself even more grief. Graphics drivers can be problematic to uninstall and reinstall if not done right.

Hi,
I am trying to use my linksys pcm100 integrated ethernet pcmcia card. I am running windows XP and when i insert the card, xp automatically installs the drivers for the pcpcm100 version of the card, not my pcm100. I have been having trouble with the card and i figure these bad drivers are the cause. I downloaded the correct drivers, but if i manually tell it to update it wont work. Is there anyway to turn off the autoinstall feature so i can manually tell it to use the correct drivers? THanks

Hello,

Today I thought it was about time to update my drivers, because I never updated them and I thought there would be better/newer ones out there.
So I've gone to the nvidia site, downloaded the drivers-installer and followed the instructions(Uninstall your old display drivers through the add/remove programs list and install the new drivers). I'm 85% sure I downloaded the right drivers, I didn't exactly know wich OS I had to choose, I'm running Windows XP Home Edition, so I just chose the Windows 2000/xp drivers for Nvidia Gforce 6600. I'm sure I got Gforce 6600. After the un-installation of the old drivers it asked me to reboot my computer now or later. I chose later. After the installation of the new drivers, it asked me again. I chose now.

When my computer rebooted, it did just... crash/hang/got stuck/freeze on the Screen where you see the... like loading bar with the blue/green things in it. So because it froze, I just shut my computer down manually(With the button on the front of the computer, so not the electricity button xD). Then I waited 30 secs, and started my computer again, this time, it just acted normally and didn't freeze. When the computer was ready, the "New hard balloon popped up, containing something like....: New Hardware found, Video Drivers.
So I double-clicked the balloon, and it asked me how I wanted to install it. I said: Automaticly. Then it searched for something to install it/tried to install it, but after se... Read more

The actual message is:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing.  If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash
drive, please insert it now.  Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."  <Browse> <OK> <Cancel>

Answer:"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok"

I have had the same problem on an Acer laptop.  My issue was that I tried to install via the USB 3.0 port.  Both external dvd and usb/iso failed.  Iserting the USB stick into the USB 2.0 port, and installed flawlessly.

thanks and best regards

Answer:Satellite C50-A394 - wrong manufacturer label after Win 7 installation

Sorry but we don't know what have you done exactly and on which place you see other manufacturer name.
Where you can see this with Panasonic?
Have you installed Win7 using original Microsoft installation disc?
Do you use drivers from Toshiba support page?

Hi,

I have a new pc and I installed windows 10 64 bit, it went well but there were a few thing I wasn't sure about, one being that the time was wrong and would not correct itself

In the end I decided to reinstall windows as it was very quick the first time, when I got to the part about which drive /partition to install to there was drive 0 and drive 1, I have 2 drives: an m.2 ssd and a sata HDD, the m.2 ssd is the system drive. It was cut up into about 4 partitions I think so I just deleted them all and then tried to proceed, windows wouldn't let me install and after searching online for solutions I unplugged the other HDD and windows let me install on to the ssd (I don't understand this because there was no problem having the other drive installed before).

there are 2 things I would appreciate some advice with:

1: The time is still wrong and I don't know why

2: I now have a clean installation of windows 10 64bit again, in disk management it shows 1 partition for my system drive, I expected there to be multiple partitions like before, is this right that there is only one?

Thank you

Answer:installation partition question and wrong time after install

If you post a screen shot of disk management then we'll tell you why.

I assume this is not possible anymore.
As far as I know the other languages are locked or deleted and you will be able to chose only the Dutch as language.

If you need the recovery disk in French then you will have to order it from this page:

I have a creative dvd-rom, and a yamaha cd-r. My system recognizes the two cd drives, but the drives don't recognize the cd's when I put them in tray, music, data or otherwise.
I've tried uninstalling both cd roms and rebooting, getting upgraded software from respective vendors, I even reinstalled windows xp.
If anyone out there can help me resolve this, it would be greatly appreciated....

Hello,
Installed ET Quake Wars on my girlfriend PC last night, was not running great so I thought I would update her drivers.
I downloaded and saved the latest forcewear drivers for Nvidia FX5900 graph card, l went into add and remove programs there was three choices, I saw one had "force" in the title so I deleted that one. Then stared the set up and install from the saved file and it said "The Nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardwear, setup will now exit"

I tried a few games to be told "Failed to find a suitable display device" Looked back into add and remove there was two left :Nvidia Display Drivers and :Nvidia Drivers

Went to device manager, the graph card is no longer showing up in there but does have 2 exclamation marks next to:NVIDIA nForce2 AGP Host to PCI Bridge and Ethernet Controller (she uses a usb modem, dont know if the ethernet has any relevance)

She no longer has her disc that came with the card and also has system restore disabled.
She has:
AMD Athlon
FX5900
Windows XP

Im very sure Ive deleted the wrong drivers, could you please help as lm getting nagged to death, any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Answer:Deleted wrong drivers (help)

You need to reinstall your chipset drivers for the NVidia chipset. You should be able to download them from your motherboard/PC manufacturer's web site or from Major Geeks: http://www.majorgeeks.com/NVIDIA_nForce_Unified_Driver_Windows_2000XP_d4299.html If this driver doesn't repair the drivers with the yellow "!", then go to your motherboard makers web site. Reboot after installing the chipset drivers. Then install this video driver: http://www.majorgeeks.com/NVIDIA_Forceware_2KXPMCE_d3294.html If, for some reason, this driver doesn't work, go here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_163.71.html Both links are for the exact same driver, so the MG link should work just fine.

The internet on my laptop has been working on and off lately. When I started up my laptop this morning, it decided to do a system repair...have no idea why but let it run anyway (hoping it might solve the choppy internet). It came to a point and asked if I would like to do a system restore and I clicked yes (ughhh, why did I click yes). When it was done, it restarted, and came to the log-in screen like normal but the keyboard or mouse would not function, I also tried to turn on the on-screen keyboard but that wouldn't come up. Tried to restart it a few times but that didn't work. So I plugged in a usb mouse that I had previously installed to click on the guest account and logged in. I went to check on the drivers and there were errors in the network adapter section, the Mice and other pointing devices section, and the keyboard section. It wouldn't connect to the internet so I can't get the drivers; plus since I don't have a keyboard, I can't type in the password for the admin account to download the drivers ( I can't really do much on the guest account).

Not quite sure what to do, so I need some help. I'll try just about anything.

P.S. - The only reason I haven't restored it to factory setting is because of all the personal things I have on the other account and I haven't backed them up and can't access them from the guest account. But if there is no other way to fix the problem, I guess I'll have no choice but t... Read more

Answer:Somethings wrong with my drivers

You can access all your files using an Ubuntu CD, follow this guide to back up all your important files: Ubuntu Live CD to back up files from your dead Windows You will obviously need access to a working PC to make the CD.

Then, before we start to try and fix things it would be wise to run a test on the hard drive. Something is corrupting your system files so we need to be sure it is not down to a faulty hard drive, if it is, any repair attempts will be futile.

You can create the Seatools disc on any fully functional PC with a CD burner or use any PC to create the Flash Drive.

Open Internet Explorer and click on this: Seatools

Save the download to your desktop.

In Windows 7 right click the ISO file, select Open With, then select Windows Disc Image Burning Tool then follow the prompts.
For all other versions of windows (if you do not have an ISO burner) download this free software. ImgBurn Install the program (make sure you uncheck any boxes that will install bundled software) and start the application. Select the top left hand option to Write image file to disc and then on the next window click on the small yellow folder icon and browse to the ISO file on your desktop. Then click on the two grey discs with the arrow in between (bottom left) and leave it to complete the operation.

You will need a blank recordable CD or a re-recordable CD. If your PC has no CD/DVD drive or you would prefer to run Seatools from a Flash Drive follow this guide: How to run Seatools from a US... Read more

Sometime ago my laptop's hard drive broke and I ended up buying a new drive, but my computer did not turn on. Recovery disks weren't working so I ended up calling a computer guy who installed a torrented version of Windows XP PRO, everything but the sound worked.

My problem:

Speakers cannot play sound, yet when I plug in headphones I can hear music.
Built in mic no longer works.

I can't use Windows update because I dont have a genuine version of windows, any help here...

And now my ac97 onboard sound isn't recognized by XP (on a msi K8n neo 21 platinum). I've tried everything. Manual install, uninstall, (uninstalled everything then reinstalled (drivers)) windows restore.... I need some help please.

The problem started when I ran nvidida system utilities. The sounds immediately slowed down as if my system had been changed from 24 meats per minute to 12 bpm. Then i was playing with the realtek drivers, and it was gone.... Now I can't get it back.

Is there some way, save reinstalling XP (as i have to edit a video) that I can get rid of all the old driver entries?

Answer:Even though i know better.. i installed wrong drivers...

Hi,

Have you gone into Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager....and when in there finding the sound area and just deleting anything in that area.....Then when you boot back up, it will find the area again.....then take your motherboard disk and reinstall the drivers. Don't know any reason that would not work.

Hello guys.
I'm here seeking help due to a problem I've been facing for a long time.
First of all this all started when I was making some researching about how to change mac address. I changed due to the control I had with router's firewall. I first installed a programm that I thought was great and could do that with no problems. I thought wrong, it kinda messed up my wireless connection and from that moment I've started using LAN, once wireless wasn't available anymore (When I go to device manager and to "network adapets" the "802.11 n/g/b Wireless LAN USB Adapter" has a yellow icon with a "!" and when I double click on it the device status says "This device cannot start. (Code 10).
I wonder if that has any kind of solution, but if it doesn't that's not the main reason why I'm making this thread. The main reason is basically due to a problem that happened to me yesterday. I installed driver booster and noticed that I had a lot of drivers out dated (incluiding some network adapters), so I decided to update them. When all the updates finished, I was no longer able to connect to internet. The yellow icon with a "!" appeared and the first thing I've tried to do to solve it was to run device manager and see if I could roll back the drivers. Some of them I could, some not. It didn't fix it so I tried a system restore and a startup restore which didn't work aswell, it would stay in the initial phase for hours, stuck on an infite load. Answer:Updating drivers went wrong

I don't know a tonne but I'll help where I can until someone can give you more detailed advise.

I know you shouldn't use those driver programs, they're useless. I'd download the drivers from the manufactures site or use device manager to search windows update.

On any of the drivers that aren't working and you can't roll back I'd probably uninstall them and reboot to see if windows pick it up and installs a driver automatically, if not see if device manager will get it when you search automatically. If that doesn't work I'd search for the driver on the manufacturers site and install it that way.

Hopefully that'll resolve it for you.

I was doing routine maintence on my rig when I updated to the new Omega 14.12, and now I cannot get my drivers to work on my card. If anyone can please give my some heads up on this I would really appreciate it. My computer is an HP p6624y with a HD 5770. It's an older girl.

Answer:Updated my amd drivers and now its all wrong

So i am not going to touch on the compatability issue because im not sure if that could be anything but as for the certifications i found the problem/solution.

Windows just rolled out a heap of new updates also and they are the problem for the drivers, not AMD.  Clean off all the AMD stuff first (i use DDU, works great), then disable ALL windows updating for the time being, shut her down.  They will probably hotfix it by Monday but till then i am not sure if reinstalling the updates after the fact will cause issues so i do not know what to tell you there.  Next, go manually uninstall the 6-9 (i didnt count) updates that we just installed from under the Microsoft Windows category which is where the security and definitions chill, forgo restarting till all of them are dead.  now restart...

Now as long as you barred those dang updates from happening you should be good and the install should go fine.  It worked for me, took me about 5 hours to narrow  it down to that and im glad i got it...

Its dead week for me and i have a mountain of crap i need to finish so im gonna be pulling an all nighter now =D cheers

I recently upgraded my PC to vista 64bit. I had problems with the system freezing up when I ran fullscreen games (and sometimes just on the desktop).

I browsed around and updated my audio and video drivers to 64bit vista compatible, but I still get the same problems..

Either I downloaded the wrong things or it didn't help, maybe someone here can assist me?

My pc can run a 64 bit enviroment (amd athlon 64 3800+)
I have 4GB of RAM installed and my video/audio cards are the following:

Ati Radeon x1650
Creative SB (Soundblaster) ZS 2

I went to each of these sites and got (what I thought) was the correct drivers, but it didn't fix anything...what can I do to fix these problems?

(My pc is a Compaq Presario GX5050 Gaming PC)

I also ran speedfan to see if it was an overheating issue, but the temps where fine when it froze.

Answer:Installed wrong drivers?

I am also a Vista 64 newbie but one thing I have learn is that, with Vista, nothing seems to make sense or has a logic until you find their thought process behind it. For the most part, I install everything as an Administrator (right click, run as administrator) and go thru the process.

My video driver had to be installed from the Device Manager telling it that I had a Disk for it (even though I had downloaded the file) and I was able to make it work. I know think this happened because I didn't run the download file as an admin.

Some of the buttons of my G7 mouse did not function ingame and it was driving me crazy since I had set them up on setpoint, later I learn that I had to run the mouse as an admin... funny I thought I was the admin?

Sorry, that's all I got, I can only assume and speculate that it has something to do with Video card strong enough or CPU but I really have no clue when it comes to ATI & AMD... Nvidia & Intel guy since as long as I can remember!

My PC is OEM: My motherboard is AsusTek P7P55D-E LX Rev 1.xx with Intel Core i5 760. My thinking up to now was to use the AMD Catalyst center for its driver updates but am wondering if this is something else

Answer:Is AMD Catalyst installing the wrong drivers?

Installing AMD Catalyst left to its own devices will install "AMD HDMI Output (AMD High Definition Audio Device)" the problem with this is if left as the default (or one of 2 defaults) there will be no sound whatsoever in Windows sounds or any media player. I must go to my original "Speakers High Definition Audi Device" and select it as default in order to hear sounds again. This tells me that Catalyst is installing the wrong drivers OR installing drivers where there shouldn't be any. or something is happening that I am not aware of. If anyone can shed light on this I would appreciate it--since this would mean that whatever drivers I am using are as old as my computer since AMD is installing the ''wrong'' ones. Thank you

Been living with it since...What is simplest and surest way to fix. replace FIFO drivers or buy WinXP (PRO?) as I heard that might work?

I'm not sure what is going to happen because the last time I reformatted the GT320 was installed, I have the disk for the GTX440 but I no longer have the 320 because it doesn't work.
After I reformat, what should I do to install the drivers for the GTX440? Just put the disc in when I start up the computer?

Answer:Reformatting, wrong GPU drivers will be installed.

I visit the offical Toshiba driver pages via support home page, but like this link and Satellite 1800-100 drivers are listed wrong with OS compatibility:
I selected and download drivers for Windows XP but none of the drivers can be installed under XP due to these messages:

http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/Satellite/s1800-ps181e/win-xp/irda-xp-41019995.zip - this infrared driver cannot be installed because of this message: "INF style is different" - it's made for Win ME.

Also "Aladding Cyberblade - Trident" display driver for XP cannot be installed, the message: "Not compatible driver with XP".

Why are there wrong drivers on Toshiba support pages for Satellite 1800-100?

Also how can i run "Wireless Link" for infrared connection, whatever i do, i cannot open "Wireless Link icon in control panel", i click on it but it does not open without any alert.

Please help.

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite 1800-100: wrong XP drivers?

I cannot believe that. I don?t have this unit but I have download several drivers, unzipped it and it seems to be good.

Anyway, try to use the drivers from the other Satellite 1800.
I have found the description in the option ?more info? that most drivers are the same on the Satellite 1800.

I recently bought a 1TB external drive in the first month was the paradise of about three months here been hell ...

The problem is that the windows when i connect the disk, sometimes it correctly detects and installs the correct drivers, other times it detects wrong and installs other wrong drivers.
When you install the wrong windows drivers in Disk Manager says that is not present or does not detect the capacity, despite the indication that I have the the connected USB device. Another indicator light is always on the disc, rather than intermittently (indicating that it is accessing data) ...

To be even more difficult the drivers are registry keys ...

Have tested it on several PC with W7 and XP sp3 and the problem still occurs ...

Have I contacted the support of the disc but the impression I got is that understand of hardware even less than me ...

Can you help me please!!

Answer:Wrong plug-and-play drivers

OMG! what is the brand/make/model of the external drive in question?!? I have never heard of a known brand to do something like that unless the enclosure itself is hosed and/or beginning to fail. Post back & let me know, take care!

Answer: if install wrong drivers, any problem?

The equipment may or may not work, or not work correctly. It depends on the component, which you didn't elaborate on. Some are identical between some nearly identical models. You can probably find the correct drivers and install them from device manager. Sometimes things are in Add and Remove Programs in Control Panel, but usually not.

Hello, I recently downloaded AVG's Driver Update Program, it stated that I had 24 drivers out of date and it started to update them for me. During the update it also asked me to install 'AMD Catalyst Control Center', while CCC was installing my screen resolution got smaller (The best way I can describe this is, the screen was no longer going to the edges of my monitor, it had a small 2cm black box around the screen separating my screen and monitor)I assumed that these black boxes would only be here during the installation process of CCC. After CCC had finished installing it asked me to restart my computer and that it would take a bit longer than usual due to the new drivers. Upon restarting and finally getting back to my desktop screen it was apparent that the black boxes were still there. I quickly headed to my screen resolution settings and noticed that nothing had changed as it still stated i was on 1920x1080 (my normal Res) so I decided to lower my resolution to 1776 x 1000 and then revert back to 1920x1080. This fixed the problem and the black boxes were gone and everything seemed normal. I then proceeded to start up my usual games and quickly noticed that upon tabbing out/Minimizing a full screened game, the game would no longer re maximize, the icon of the game is still on the 'Task Bar' but as I click it, nothing happens, it will not reopen even though I am still able to hear game sounds running.Every-time I restart my computer the black boxes... Hey guys.

So I live in Ireland and when installing Windows 8, I set some language choices to Irish (keyboard and date/time), but language to English UK. In previous installations of Windows, such as Windows 7, this did not make apps show up with Irish language titles.

After removing Ireland from the Language options > Control Panel - Language, some apps went back to displaying in English. But other Modern UI apps, like the news still show up in Irish titles.

Have I missed a setting of some sort? I have attached a screenshot of my language options, just in-case i'm missing something.
PS: I have already rebooted a few times since changing these options.

Thanks!

EDIT: Fixed. The latest batch of Windows updates seems to have kicked it back into English. Thanks anyway!

I have HP Pavilion 15-p153nm and i have a problem with Intel HD graphics driver. Default "generic" driver that comes with Windows 10 has low graphics performance and backlight can not be controlled. Windows update installs new driver but it has black screen problem on startup if brightness is 100%. Also, it has BSOD if i put laptop to sleep. Everytime windows detects my device, it automatically installs drivers already on the system. Unfortunately those drivers are not the correct. How do I disable this 'feature' in Windows?

Answer:Windows keeps automatically installing the wrong drivers

You'd have to manually force the upgrade to the latest driver (that's what I'm assuming you're trying to do).

Bring up Device Manager, find the device in question, click the Driver tab, Update Driver, choose the second option that says "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)."

On the next window, choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install."

That's the point where most people go wrong, so make sure you choose the bottom option: "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install."

On the next window, click the "Have disk" button and go find the .inf file to install the drivers. Once you locate it, then you can manually choose which driver to install: when there is more than one (the new one you're trying to install and the one(s) that Windows may already have in the driver.cab or in the \drivers directory) you must choose the one with either the proper version number (highest usually means the latest) or the one with the most current date.

A lot of people miss this process and they have issues installing drivers, but that's the proper method to manually install a device driver in Windows.

Hope this helps...

EDIT: Oh well, I got tied up in the middle of posting this sooo... someone else might benefit from it.

I installed my new graphicscard yesterday (XFX GeForce GTS 250) and when Windows 7 booted, it automatically started downloading drivers -without my approval- (probably my own fault for not having UAC on) before I even had time to mount the driver CD.

It turns out those drivers were most likely wrong, I still don't have OpenGL support and there is no settings program for the card. So... I have no idea of where to find my drivers and delete them so I can install the one from my CD. I've tried, I found my old drivers but I can't find the ones Windows installed. I can't even run the Setup.exe in the CD, it just loads and nothing happens. Yes, I have tried RAA. UAC is always down to zero.

Where can I find the drivers Windows 7 Home Premium Edition installed?

Hi there
Recently I discovered my Inspiron 620, which was running Win 7 OOTB and in the last couple of years has been upgraded to Win10, could not detect my wireless network at home, or those in the nearby area, yet my phone and tablet are able to connect to them.
I couldn't see anything immediately obvious, and tried re-installing the network drivers off support.dell.com however they're Windows 7 drivers, and complain that they're not designed for this OS (meaning Windows 10).   Will Dell be producing Win10 compatible drivers soon, and in the meantime is there a workaround so that i can get my computer back on the 'net?
It's not a hardware fault as the computer is able to connect to my wireless network if I run Linux off a USB stick plugged into it.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated...
Regards
Kevin

Answer:Network drivers for Inspiron 620 say wrong OS (Win 7 but running Win 10)

Dell won't be providing Win 10 drivers for the Inspiron 620. System is  too old...
If you open Device Manager, is the WiFi network card entry marked with a ! or X?
After you upgraded to Win 10, did you run the network connection wizard on the 620 to identity your WiFi network and did you enter the (WPA2) network password on the 620 to allow it to connect to the router?
Have you rebooted the router (and modem)?
Do you have the Dell (Atheros) 1502 WiFi card? If none of the above helps, you might try installing this Win 10 driver for the 1502 card. Be sure to manually set a System Restore point first, to be safe. Keep in mind this driver is for an Alienware system and I have no idea if it will work with an Inspiron.
Worse/worse, remove the existing WiFi card and replace it with an inexpensive WiFi card or plug in a USB>WiFi dongle that's compatible with Win 10...

HP DV6000 notebook,
has a nvidia go 7200 vid card

was having issues with secondary monitor, so went to reinstall the drivers. a bunch of posts suggested using these custom video drivers from http://www.tweakforce.com and i foolishly figured it couldn't break anything.

Restarted after install to no image and post beeps: one long and 3 short which im assuming is something video related.

I pulled the hd figuring i would just delete the driver files, but even with the hd unplugged i get the same beep which leads me to believe that the driver install somehow altered the bios.

Suggestions? i don't even know a way to reset a notebook bios.

Someone I know has a PC that, upon the point in time you would expect to see "Welcome" screen and then the desktop and start menu, they are instead presented with a black screen. The computer continues to run, but you are running it blind with no video output. The computer is a dell... I'm not sure what the model number is, but according to the device manager the video chipset is an ATI Radeon X300.

Running in safe mode works just fine. One of the things that seemed to work temporarily was uninstall the display devices from the device manager. For some reason there are two listed in there.

-ATI Radeon X300
-ATI Radeon X300 Secondary

Which just seems a little odd.

Anyway, if you remove these devices, and boot normally, it loads with no problem. But the "Found New Hardware" popup appears and asks you to restart the PC. If you restart, you are once again stuck with a blank screen at login.

I restarted into safe mode again and used the driver information in the device manager to locate and manually delete all the associated files found in the windows/system32/ folder and restarted. I also removed the devices from the device manager once again. Rebooted, and it logged in normally with no issue, but again said the system needed to be restarted. And upon restart, you end up with the same issue: no video.

I also tried to install the latest drivers from ATI's website, but that also did not work.

Not sure what to do now. I'd be willing to do a ... Read more

Hi, yes, I did something really stupid! I was having major issues with laptop and as a last resort decided to reinstall Windows [should have been Vista]. However, I have two Dell Inspiron laptops and apparently used the wrong disc! I installed Windows XP. Now I have no internet as the Ethernet driver, and a few others, are showing errors. I looked in Device Manager etc and about 8 or 9 drivers were not installed.

Oh, and the correct Windows disc is in US with my computer wiz son, and I'm over in UK! So . . . . is there anyway to install the missing drivers? Or even get Dell or Microsoft to help me get the correct version of Windows to reinstall?

I have internet access on my mini Dell, and also on my desktop - which does have CD writer etc if I needed to download files. Or can that be done on memory stick?

Any help/suggestions would be very much appreciated. [minus the 'dumb woman' remarks!!! I've beat myself up sufficiently]

Thanks so much

Sorry for the long post...............
A week ago my laptop hard drive crashed. I called hp they did diagnostics and said they would send me a new hard drive to me in the mail due to I only have had this laptop less than 2 months. They sent me the hard drive. I then installed vista ultimate 64 on the computer. I made a 80 gig partition for the hard drive. then the rest of the hard drive seperate. Then I got on the internet. I called hp because in device manager the realtek ethernet nic had a yellow exclamation mark and when I clicked it it said (this device isn't working and can not start code 10) and I told them after a fresh install the numbers were not the same, when I bought the laptop I went into device manager to see all the drivers and wrote all the names down. The driver I previously had was real tek 8102e/8103e. The one that was in there after a fresh install was real tek 8101. So I was on the internet anyway but needed that fixed so they gave me the download and that was fixed. I started to get downloads from hp for software drivers as far as Sound, wireless broadcom, hp wireless touch keys etc.) Well upon trying to download these on internet explorer it was very very very slow. so I installed firefox and they were still very slow. This little problem is starting to get on my nerves.

I have installed the latest AMD GPU drivers for my R9 290, and every day seemingly at random points Windows 10 decides to download and install a really old driver (9.14!).

I've tried uninstalling said driver using DDU which turns the update feature off in Windows 10.....but it seems to just have a mind of it's own.

Answer:How can i prevent Windows update downloading the wrong AMD drivers.

I agree. The new update protocol takes away our freedom to do what we want. My problem is the opposite of yours. I want to keep an older graphics driver. Despite having configured Win 10 to never install new drivers (via System > advanced system setting > hardware TAB > device installation settings > No, let me choose and never...), it continually installs the newest drivers every time I update. If Microsoft had its way, we'd all have the same hardware and software. Wouldn't that be easy for them?

Hi everyone

I'm getting really frustrated trying to get my sound to work on my computer. The other day when I was messing around with my hard drive I accidently disconnected the wires from the "front panel audio connector". I tried to fix it but I could only get one of my speakers to work. I've been trying several different combinations of wires, but the problem is that the connectors are labeled differently than what my motherboard instruction manual gives me.

Here's what they say:

And this is what the wires say:
Purple - R IN
Yellow - R OUT
Black - GND
Green - MIC BIAS
Blue - L IN
Red - L OUT
Black - GND
Orange - MIC IN

Right now I have it matched up like this:

I have a feeling that where it says to put AUD_VCC, there shouldn't be anything. Anyways, your help is VERY much appreciated.

Hello from Athens Greece !

I bought Satellite P300-21E Model PSPCCE 3 days ago and i am still trying to install display drivers for its ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 graphics card.

The drivers which are provided in the official support site are wrong, because they are for Mobility Radeon HD 34xx/36xx series and not for the 46xx series.
The drivers installation is impossible and you are kindly requested to provide me a solution for this issue.

I already informed the local partner of TOSHIBA named IDEAL.

Regards.

Answer:Satellite P300-21E - Wrong display drivers in support site for Windows XP !

The Win XP driver is NOT wrong!!
Fact is that the same notebook was equipped with 3 different graphic chips!!!

The notebook series Satellite P300 PSPCCE uses graphic chips: Radeon HD 34xx/36xx/46xx series

The driver on the page is designed and compatible only with Mobility Radeon HD 34xx/36xx chip. It does not support the 46xx series.

Unfortunately, it seems that the XP driver for your graphic card is not released yet?.

Maybe you should check some 3rd party webpage for a compatible XP driver for Mobility Radeon HD 46xx chip

Hello all, recently I decided it was a good time for me to update my PC with a new OS (Windows Microsoft Vista Home Premium) and some new hardware whilst I was at it. I wiped my HDD (completely) using some software, and began the installation of my OEM OS. After a while, I traversed all of the problems that this process threw at me and made my way into Windows ready to marvel at the speeds of my ?new? PC. However, the joys of triumphancy was short lived as it turned out, the problems had barely begun:

My computing knowledge is fairly basic, and so the recent problems that I have encountered prove to be more of a barrier than I had hoped for when setting out to ?improve? my PC. I appreciate any help you can give greatly.

To get the Internet up and going I went to install my Network Card (on reflection, motherboard drivers would have been a better option but the internet would give me access to FAQ?s etc more easily. Either way it didn?t matter in the end as it was doomed to failure either way.)
I downloaded the driver from the link on this page (http://kbserver.netgear.com/release_notes/d103261.asp), the most recent one, and followed the instructions. This was to install the software, turn off my PC, install the Network Card into the correct socket, and to turn the PC back on. Once inside windows, I was meant to be greeted by a ?Smart Wizard? to guide me through the installation. This was not the case however. The new hardware has been recognised in device manager how... Hi Guys, Merry Christmas to all of you. I bought this new " LENOVO Thinkpad SL500 NRJ6FGE" laptop. I purposely bought it without windows since i already have an OEM Windows XP professional CD. I need help for the Installation of Windows XP and I need help for the drivers that i will require after the Windows XP Installation. I believe that this laptop contains the SATA hardrive and therefore I used slipstream and made my windows XP CD with SATA support drivers. (I downloaded the SATA support drivers from the HP support website. Please advise if they are not applicable for this laptop and where can I download them from in that case). 1. Do I need any other special technique to Install Windows XP except the SATA support available during Installation.2. Can anyone please guide me what kind of drivers will i need to install for making my notebook work properly. (like BIOS, audio, card reader, webcam, bluetooth modem etc.) Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:Windows XP installation and drivers

Merry Christmas. 1. No need any special technic to install Windows XP on ThinkPad SL, but your SATA driver must be Intel ICH9 or later. You can use NLite to make it easy.2.
