After Windows 8.1 update Skydrive Error-> Error: We can't

Question: After Windows 8.1 update Skydrive Error-> Error: We can't

Hello.

So I've just finished updating my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, the installation went smoothly but now there is a problem - which is the Skydrive folder (that is located in in my users folder) won't synchronize with the following error "Error: We can't connect to your SkyDrive because the path of a file or folder is too long" ... I only have access to the files that were already in there before the update, but it won't synchronize with new ones.
Before the update everything was working fine and synchronizing fine, there was absolutely no problem with long folder or file's path, now after the upgrade there is suddenly a problem?
I can't change the folder structure now, it's too late as I've several machines (Windows 7) with the same structure and it would be a mess If I changed it.
How can I correct this issue? Does anyone have any ideas?
Regards.

Preferred Solution: After Windows 8.1 update Skydrive Error-> Error: We can't

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

i have not been able to solve this one for a particular user.

skydrive pro stopped syncing. it produces the error in the title. i did some googling and followed a few fixes with no luck. due to some other office issues, i wiped his machine and reinstalled windows. with a fresh install of windows and office 365 he is still getting the error when syncing skydrive.

does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Answer:Error code=0x80004005; Error source=Groove __ Microsoft SkyDrive Pro Error

1. Clear all browsing history on IE
2. Stop syncing all Skydrive Pro folders (have the remaining folders moved away from the original location to avoid duplicate renamed folders)
3. Run IE as administrator and resync the libraries normally

Those are the only instructions I found that made sense.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro on my Dell laptop. This laptop has been in storage and hasn't been turned on in a year. Originally, all I wanted to do was use iTunes. The problem:

It made me update it in order to use it, but I got an error.

I un-installed it and tried downloading a fresh copy and I get the following error:
After some Googling, I read that not having the latest Windows .NET framework might be the problem. Sounded reasonable so I fired up Windows Update but that gave me an error and wouldn't start checking for updates.

I managed to get it to check for updates, but now when it starts the process, I get the following:
I Googled the error code "8007007E" and tried a few things to try and fix it.

I downloaded the windowsupdatediagnostic.diagcab, found on Microsoft's site, here:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=windows-7
I tried resetting the Windows Update reset tool, using "MicrosoftFixit50202", found here:http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683
I download the system readiness tool, found here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3132
I tried a clean boot.

I tried renaming the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder.

None of this worked.

I ran the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) and the results said I had bad files, but I don't know how to fix them. It generated a CBS log, which is too large for me to post (10MB) , so I've uploaded to dropbox,... Read more

Windows updates not working for a while. Initial was 8007370B appearing in the Windows Update window when searching for updates. Found bad memory using Memtest86+ and pulled the stick. Other stick no errors after 8 passes.

Toshiba HDD installed. Ran two different HDD diagnostics test on it and it passed.

No conflicts in device manager.

Now, Windows Update window showing 80070002 error. Based upon instructions, ran System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) but that appears to have not made any resolution. Ran it twice to ensure it ran successfully.

Then, ran the Windows Update Diagnostic.diagcab from go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=231149 and it shows Windows Update error 0x8007370B(2014-09-18-T-06_58_30P) as NOT FIXED. All other items in list shows as FIXED.

SFC /scannow will not run ... displaying the message "windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation". I tried the same in a elevated prompt in normal windows and in safe mode with the same result. No luck running Surface Scan.

Ran chkdsk /r twice also.

Screen captures of both errors and CBS log file attached. Any help is greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I will begin running some antimalware scans just in case.

Thanks for any assistance.

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Everytime I open Skydrive on Internet Explorer I get a message pop up on top of the page that says: 'To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options.'Can anyone advise me on how to remove it so it doesn't constantly pop up whenever I open a page? I'm not downloading anything but the page itself. I merely want to view the page properly. No matter how many times I click on display content, each time I move to another page,up it pops again.

Answer:IE/Skydrive Error message.

Follow the steps below to allow ActiveX content.1. Open Internet Explorer , go to Tools >> Internet Options2. Click on Advanced Tab and scroll down to find the Security section.3. Enable the checkbox labeled ?Allow active content to run in files on My Computer? and ?Allow Active Content from CDs to run on My Computer?.

With a 64-bit Windows 8.1 Pro system I'm intermittently getting error events like:

The server {BF6C1E47-86EC-4194-9CE5-13C15DCB2001} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Looking further into it the registry says that server is:

C:\Windows\System32\skydrive.exe

Of course, that's called OneDrive now and is so named in the Group Policy Editor so sometime back I enabled the "Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage" entry.

So why is the event log getting these errors still?

Should I have disabled a service as well as editting Group Policy?

More importantly, perhaps, do I even care about this - it seems Microsoft regularly logs "errors" that aren't errors anyway (*), so maybe this, too, is irrelevant to smooth running?

===========

(*) For example, Microsoft has an obscure sentence somewhere on their site (that's why it's obscure - I can't find it!) that says that "SFC" can find errors that AREN'T errors (the "utc" and "telemetry" errors mentioned elsewhere that cannot be fixed by SFC or DISM).

I was given an HP Compaq Presario C500 that was headed for the garbage because it would not connect to the internet. After running several scans ESET online scanner came up clean. Installed Microsoft Security Essentials and installed SP1, and can't get it to install SP2. I keep getting error code 80070017 / Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

I would prefer to reformat but Recovery Manager restarts back into Windows and I have no disks.

Can provide a long list of what has been done if needed including WU Modules (Normal Mode) and WU Components fixes. Permissions point in every which way but the correct way!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Free space is presently @ 42.3 GB of 68.9 GB on C: Drive (started out with 7.3 GB's free space! )
and 4.91 GB free of 5.53 GB on Presario_RP (D)

[email protected] 1.60GHz 1.60 GHz
512 MB RAM

Denied access to the CBS folder itself though can access CheckSUR.log which I am including along with sfcdetails.

Hi All

Some of our client machine(Windows7) is not taking update from WSUS server. When we verified the WindowsUpdate logs, we could see that WU client version is changed to 7.6.7600.256 from 7.5.7601.17514.Our WSUS server is running with version WSUS 3.0 SP1 on windows 2003 server. So we suspect this may be the reason windows 7 machines is getting the error message 'Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x800b0001' when it try to get the update from WSUS server.

So please suggest any steps to change the WU client version on windows 7 back to 7.5.7601.17514

I have been getting error 0x8007001f whenever I attempted to install the windows 10 anniversary update. I went through most post suggestions for fixing this error. What I found I have not seen posted before.
I have one of those Dells (XPS 8900) similar to Alienware which has the system on a SSD and a second conventional HHD for data.
This configuration, if unchanged, still places user data (such as Documents) on the smaller SSD. In order to have all user data put on the larger HHD I defined a soft symbolic link from the SSD to the HHD for the Users directory. This worked great until my computer attempted to install the anniversary update of windows 10. I kept getting the 0x800701f error no matter what I tried. That is, until I restored the original Users directory on the SSD. After that the update went through just fine.
After the update I relinked the Users directory and everything came up as before but with the windows update installed.
If you have linked the users directory as I did just unlink (see below) and the update should go through.
Notes:
The mklink command is used to define the symbolic link. It should be run from an administrator command prompt.
(mklink /d Users D:\Users)
Rename the original Users directory on C: before defining the link. If you did not then you will have to copy the Users directory from D: to C: after deleting the link, then delete and relink after the windows update.
To delete the link just do an "rmdir Users" from administrat... Read more

Hi,
I have been having some recurring problems with the attempts to install some automatic windows updates.

Security Update for Microsoft Office Acess 2007
Security Update for Microsoft Office Outlook Junk Email Filter

I am not able to install these updates, maybe any other updates in general. After attempting the install the following install window says, "Windows Update encountered an unknown error." Next to it an error code 80070643. Microsoft provides a solution to the problem, by re-installing Microsoft NET. Framework. They also provide a link to the program NET. Framework cleanup tool that enables you to uninstall NET. Framework, and it's components.

I followed Microsoft's instructions to solve the issue, though I've been put at a standstill. I have used the NET. Framework Cleanup tool to uninstall NET. Framework and it's components (states that it uninstalls all versions, 1.1 SP1 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5.) Then afterwards instructed to reinstall NET. Framework, specifically in an order, 3.5 then, 1.1, then 1.1 SP1. I start with 3.5, then as the installation starts it says that to contiunue installation I must turn off or on windows features in the Control Panel. I do so and turn off all Windows features. Then continue and it again states to turn off features in the Control Panel.

I wasn't able to continue the process, and I am also concerned that this is the same error that made me unable to install Microsoft Security Essentials, (as t... Read more

I have been having problems installing 8 updates since early May 2012. I am getting the error code in the title line.

The updates are:

I have run FixIt, but to no avail. I have also turned off services and rebooted and ran Windows Update and still got this error.

Do I need to just skip these updates, or somehow troubleshoot this and fix it. If I need to fix it, I need help.

Hi, about two months ago my computer started doing some weird stuff where multiple programs didn't work.

Some programs, such as notepad, give an error of C:\Windows\systems32\WINSPOOL.DRV is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. I have no idea what is causing this, and found out when looking at its permissions, all were switched to a TrustedInstaller, while I had only read/execute perms.

Also, when I tried to restore my computer to an earlier version, all of my restore points were gone. When I tried to backup my files, an error came up stating, "Server execution failed (0x80080005)".

Lastly, I am unable to set my computer to update windows. When I go to the action center and click Install Updates Automatically, the window closes and nothing changes.

My current OS is Windows 7 (which was upgraded from Windows Vista), and it is an HP laptop. Also, any automatic updates HP software usually installs, doesn't seem to be working.

I have no idea why all of this is happening, and I greatly appreciate any help.

Hiya, this problem started when I encountered "generic host process for win32 services has encountered a problem and needs to close". I figured I could have a virus or something, so I rebooted to run some scans in safe mode. Problem is, when I attempted to go into safe mode, it flashed the blue screen and reset.
Also this happens when I try and disable auto reset on BSOD ( so I just don't change it)
"-System control panel applet- if the page file on volume C: has an initial size of less then 0 megabytes, then the system may not be able to create a debugging information file if a STOP error occurs. Continue anyways?"

After the reset, I was given 2 options I haven't seen before:
"Windows XP professional" -> everything starts normally
and
"Windows (default)" -> gives me a "hal.dll is corrupted" error

I did my scans on normal windows (since safemode is giving me BSOD) and I didn't find any viruses/mal/spyware.
I used these for scanning: Microsoft security essentials, malwarebytes, and spybot.

After some google searches, I tried to update windows via ***www.\/\/indowsupdate.com but recieved an error message like I didn't have the internet. I read somewhere to add it to the "trusted websites" and I did, but didn't change anything.
Also from the searches, I was redirected a few times, so I think I have the google redirect virus.

I haven't been able to do Windows Update in over a year due to error code 80004002. I have tried to re-register the .dll files associated with Windows Update as many sources have suggested to do as a fix... but it hasn't worked for me. I just tried installing SP1 to fix this problem... but I get Internal Error 0x800703F0. One of the suggestions/fixes to this Internal Error is to check Windows Update to see if you are offered SP1 by windows update... but that's the thing... I can't update AT ALL... every time I try to check for updates it gives me error code 80004002. I don't know what to do, this has been driving me absolutely insane ever since this problem showed its ugly face.

If anyone knows how to fix this PLEASE let me know. I will worship whomever can get around this BS. :C

EDIT: Also - I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-bit, and yes it's a legit copy.

Answer:[VISTA] Windows Update error 80004002/SP1 Internal Error 0x800703F0

You install is gone south. You will have to backup and do a fresh install.

Almost all of the suggestions i am seeing say the same thing you said you tried. There is this solution that has about 5 or 6 different .dll's to re-register have you done all of them?

Re: Windows Vista error code 80004002 - TechNet Forums

From a couple of other sites they have returned results of RAM or CPU overheating. So have your run Memtest86 to test your RAM? There is a suggestion to try this app out as well:

Download Dial-a-fix 0.60.0.24 - Dial-a-fix is a collection of known fixes which addresses issues with Windows Update, Microsoft Installer, and more - Softpedia

That might help you. There is also this solution that i have found:

Code:
Go to Start, run, type services.msc <hit enter>
Make sure that COM+ Event System is set to Automatic and is started, and COM+ System Application is set to Manual, and isn't started.
Then - download and install the update from here manually: When you use Automatic Updates to scan for updates or to apply updates to applications that use Windows Installer, you experience issues that involve the Svchost.exe process (WindowsUpdate Agent)
You will probably have to run the above software with the /wuforce switch.
Change to the directory that the update resides in (after you have downloaded it) from a command prompt - and type:
WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce <hit enter>
That might help. That is about all i can find right now. Ho... Read more

Been there done that, Format and make sure your names are small. You cant delete, you cannot even change. If its on your HD MS may come with a patch so we can delete extremely long file names.

I can tell you this, I am so glad I have 2000 backups hanging around my house or I'd be suing MS for data loss.

I have a Sitefinity 7.0 project I am developing that has been working fine until a few weeks ago. After a round of Windows updates I would get a 500 error everytime I tried to access the Dashboard or any other backend page. The login worked, but the desired
page always failed, whether running in VS2013 or published and run from IIS 7. The production site hosted on WS2008R2 remained trouble free, but the issues affects development on my Windows 8.1 box.

I confirmed the error was caused by Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 x64-based Systems (KB3098779). Removing the update resolved the issue. Once a week, every week since, the update is
reinstalled automatically without me being able to stop it. The error reappears every time this update is automatically reinstalled.

Hello!  I haven't used my desktop in forever (about 4yrs) and finally decided to hook it up to my tv.  After a little bit of funds and assistance, I finally got it working.

Anyhoo...at one time I had itunes downloaded.  Now I can't find it in Programs.  I can find a couple of files titled "itunes music" and  "itunes music library" in one of the users on this comp but when trying to open these files I receive these errors:
"itunes music" - "Application has failed to start because it's side by side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log for more detail"
"itunes music library - Opens up in a new window of html log.

I researched and found to uninstall and then reinstall itunes and Quicktime.  I can't find itunes in Programs.  I tried to download itunes and receive this error "Could not access network location %APPDATA%."  I researched this error and found to download update to Windows Vista then download itunes and Quicktime afterwards.  I tried to download and received this error "Installer encountered and error 0x80070424 The specified service does not exist as an installed device."

Can I find these drivers somewhere or what should my next steps be?

fyi-I don't have the cds that came with computer but I might be able to borrow one if needed.

I finally called Microsoft - 1 - 800 - Microsoft and they did a remote on my comp and the problem is solved, at least for now.

There is no charge for this service.

As for System Restore, make sure you have set a Restore Point.
Go to Start and type system restore.
Go to " Create a restore point".

See if your C drive says "on" and if not click Configure.

Does anybody have any suggestions. Thanks.

Hello, I am attempting to install a Windows Update for Service Pack 1, and cannot do so. I'm running Windows Ultimate x64 bit, and need the Service Pack to run a couple programs I cannot run without it - namely Dolphinx64 netplay.

That being beside the point, I have attempted to run the ISO file downloaded from the Microsoft website and have attempted using the online Windows Update in my system. I also tried manually upgrading my Windows 7 using a x64 Windows 7 ISO install file and selecting "upgrade", but it didn't let me because I "can't upgrade a 64-bit system to a 32-bit system" and "can't upgrade a 32-bit system to a 64-bit system". I got both of these errors at the same time - so that's a dunce.

I also used the System Update Readiness Tool found at :

Fix Windows corruption errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool

and it didn't work either.

As stated in the title, the error code is 80070490. Attached is the CBS zip file asked for in the instructions for posting. I couldn't copy the CBS.log file -- and all the times I attempted to take ownership didn't work. If required, I will try again to get it. For the time being, I used an elevated command prompt to open the CBS log via notepad with a notepad command, and copied all contents into a notepad and included that with my .rar.

I also ran sfc /scannow before uploading this all, so that has been done as well.

Any help is much appreciated, and thank you in advance!

Hi there guys!

I've noticed you have helped people before having the same issue I am. When trying to running windows updates (service pack 1) I am getting the 800B0100 error. I have tried all the "Microsoft" fixes (FixIt, SUR tool etc), but no luck. I have run the sfc /scannow and have the CBS log (although I have no idea what it all means). Can anyone help me find a fix please????

Many Thanks,

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Hi -
I'm not getting Windows Update to run. HP p6240f, Windows 7, 64-bit OS
When I go to shutdown, the shutdown button has an orange shield that indicates it wants to update.
If I go to Windows Update and and say "Check for Updates", it tells me to Install new Windows Update software. I press Install Now and get "windows could not search for new updates. Error found Code 8024DFFE Windows Update encountered an unknown error". When I press "Get Help with this error", I select Windows Update Troubleshooter, which opens a Diagnostics Troubleshooting Wizard, which opens "Window Update, find and fix problems with Windows Update", which runs a repeating cycle of Detecting problems, collecting files, checking registry, Resolving problems .... over and over until it finishes eventually saying that it was not able to fix all the problems. In particular is a new "Windows Update error 0x80070490(2014-08-29-T-09_02_42P)". I attach the picture. I've done this a bunch of times, including rebooting to see if that matters.

This happened a week ago and the same thing happened as in the preceding paragraph, except that afterward - even though it gave all the same error codes - the Windows Update successfully ran.

I found a suggestion on a MS Windows site to run (in an administrator's Dos window) sfc /SCANNOW, which takes a long time to run and I did so and it found nothing and still the problem exists.

But then I came across ur post and realized that I have a similar configuration as you. I also uses comodo firewall and avast antivirus. This led me to think that either one of them is the problem. Hey guys after successfully removing viruses from a Vista, I went to windows update, and installed VISTA SP2 but when i go back to check for more updates, it gives me "Update Error: 800E2E" I then scanned again with the latest of MalwareBytes, and Norton 360 and i also reset all IE8 settings, disabled firewalls still no luck. I also still get what i Believe is remnants of a virus which is a pop up screen when i try and browse to a new site, it says: "You have been prohibited from this site due to virus or other malware Options: Retry, or fix. When i press retry multiple times it will finally let me to the desired site. This does this to every new tab or page I attempt to open. its more of a nuisance than anything but, I am concerned. And I need to keep this updated with Windows, Any Suggestions? Thanks in advance..

Hey, everyone.
Hopefully, I'm posting this in the right spot. I'm new to this forum.
Actually, I'm new to asking for tech advice on any forum.
Normally I scour the internet for any problem I'm having, I find someone else who had it, and follow the steps to fix it. Unfortunately, this time, I haven't been able to find a solution.

Fair warning: My description of the problem may go all over the map.

Here is my Operating System information as reported by Iobit System Information:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Home
OS Version: 10.0.10586
Product ID: 00326-10000-00000-AA792
System Up Time: 8/2/2016 9:06:23 AM
Internet Explorer Version: 11.306.10586.0
Microsoft DirectX Version: Direct X 11
OpenGL Version: 10.0.10586.0 _th2_release.151029-1700)

The initial problem I want to bring up is that when my computer restarts to apply the Windows update it tells me that it failed and reverts back. It does this every time.

And when I try to install the new update from Windows Update I get this message:
There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:

Answer:Windows Update Error (Error in ScreenShot)

Hello Seth,

From the links below, that error appears to be related to a connection issue. In addition to the second link, have you recently installed any new firewall or antivirus program that may be blocking Windows Update's connection to the internet?

Windows Update error 80244016, 8024402f, or c80003fa

and

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates

Hope this may help some,

Hi all! I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place, but I've been stuck with this issue for a while now. Last July, I came here and got help to remove a rootkit off of my computer (Great help, by the way!), but seeing as it had infected my services.exe, part of the fix was to get a new copy of it, or something around those lines; this will come in to play later, I think. Anyway, its been a LONG time, my last update whenever I try running windows update, it runs for a bit and tries to receive the updates, but then stops and displays a message saying it failed to update, and gives me the error code of 80246008. I've looked this up, and I see that it possibly has something to do with the background intelligent transfer service. The thing is, I would just like some help here on what I should do. Could someone maybe help me out with what's going wrong with the updates? Any help is greatly appreciated. (Also sorry for the wall of text).

I installed a routine update on my Windows 8.1 OS, and it made my mail app crash. I had to refresh my PC, which fixed that, but now I can't download my Skydrive docs to my PC as the transfer rate is so slow. Google drive is still instant, so I know it's not a bandwidth problem. Microsoft have basically told me there is nothing they can do.

I have tried the troubleshooter, clean boot (which wiped my Skydrive files from my PC), unlinking and reconnecting my account ... nothing works. It says it will take over a day to transfer 170 MB of data! Any help, please?

I have an Optiplex 9010 AIO. This morning I was trying to update the BIOS of my system, from A10 to A13. During the update process it showed an error: "ME FW Update Failed: Internal error: FWU_Buffer " - please see the photo below. Although the update failed on the Management Engine part, it still boots up and running OK. I tried couple of times to update the BIOS, and each time I got the same error. I tried to flash the A12 and A11 BIOS as well, A12 gives same error, and A11 has the same Management Engine version hence no use.
Any help on this is very much appreciated!

I purchased a new notebook with Windows 7 in October. During the first weeks I uninstalled McAfee and replaced the harddrive. Since November Windows Update fails with error messages and defender does not start anymore. I made several virus scans (complete) with multiple antivirus programs but nothing showed up.Since it took my days to install various software, I do not want to re-install W7. I also have no good backup that I could restore. I am really surprised that there is not even a single entry regarding the error code in the Microsoft Knowledge base or elsewhere.I really would appreciate help.

I am using Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1.
Windows Update has lost my update history and hangs when I tell it to check for updates. Windows Update Troubleshooter reports "Windows Update error 0x80070057(2016-07-15-T-12_59_34P) Not Fixed". How can I get Windows Update working again?

Here is a detailed account of the problem:
Earlier today, I ran Windows Update and told it to install 15 important updates. It said it was downloading them, but stalled for 30 minutes at 0% done.
I rebooted my computer and re-ran Windows Update. It reported that there were no pending important updates. I clicked "View update history" and saw that the most recent 15 important updates had failed. I clicked "Check for Updates" and,
when it finished checking, Windows Update continued to report that there were no pending important updates.
At that point, I concluded that something was wrong with Windows Update. In an attempt to fix it, I downloaded and ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter (WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab). It reported one problem found: "Windows Update error 0x80070057(2016-07-15-T-12_59_34P)
Not Fixed".
After running Windows Update Troubleshooter, I re-ran Windows Update. It reported that my most recent check for updates was "Never", and that updates were installed "Never". When I clicked "View update history" I saw an empty

Hi,

Try to remove the proxy server entry from the WinHTTP proxy configuration for Windows 7:

1.
Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start programs and files box.
2.
Right-click cmd.exe in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or click Continue.
3.
Type the following command and then press Enter:
netsh winhttp show proxy
Note The proxy setting is listed next to Proxy Server. If there is no proxy server, Direct Access <no proxy server> is shown in the Command Prompt window.
4.
To remove the listed proxy setting, type the following command and then press Enter:

netsh winhttp reset proxy
5.
Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Update, and then try to download and install updates again.Alex Zhaozx

We've set you PC back to where it was right before you started installing Windows 10
The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation
What was tried: Connected straight to ethernet, Turned off wireless and Defender A/V, Removing the D/L files, D/L fresh from ISO file, launched install file, went through approx 50% and PC rebooted - nor stuck on black screen with swirling dots for OVER 4 hours with a brief HD access every couple of seconds.
Rebooted again -- still swirling dots on black screen. Tried again, same results.
Rebooted with F8 to get original Win 10 back.
Turned on "metered connection" option for WLAN to stop this update from happening. But now I cannot get and security updates for this machine.
Please suspend this D/L until fixed. Cannot afford to have no protection!

Hi all, I am having a frustrating issue at the moment, where my pc is taking 20 minutes to boot - this is primarily because it keeps trying to install several windows updates, gets to 30% after multiple restarts, then fails, and says "recovering original windows installation" and finally boots up. It then presents a list of failed updates. This is below.
These all see to be for Windows version 1709. Can anyone tell me if my issue is possibly because, acording to my system I have version 1703 - and if so, how do I get it to 1709 so i can install these and move on?
Any advice please? This is driving me nuts. The only thing I have found online is recommendations of a full re-install, which i dont want to do, not with hundreds of Gb of games, and all the setup for HOTAS, Oculus and everything to do again, that will always be last resort for me.

I have tried:
Uninstalling BitDefender and trying again. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth.Using the Windows Upgrade Assistant.Running updates in Safe Mode.

Everything I have tried has the same result. Any help would be appreciated, as a re-install would take me a couple of days to get everything back to where it is now. Other than these updates the system is perfectly stable and runs well.

Hello,

I recieve error C80003FA whenever I do a Windows Update run. It doesn't get past the stage of checking for updates.

I've tried several fixes including:
- Waiting 15 minutes and running Windows Update again.
- Letting Windows Update run on its own schedule.
- SFC /Scannow
- Renaming the Catroot2 Folder.
- Running 3 different Fixit tools.
- Clean windows install.

After each and every one of those fixes I've tried windows update and I still get error C80003FA.

SFC Scannow has previously said no errors, but the last run through it said there were unfixable errors. I've got the log, though for brevity's sake I will keep it until someone asks for it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Answer:Windows Update fails in Update Check. Error code C80003FA.

Clean windows install doesn't fix it? You must be blocked, maybe your firewall???

Hey all,

So I am currently reinstalling Windows on my dad's old laptop after the hard drive decided up die on us, and I stumbled on a problem that's a bit too hard for me to fix.

Namely, I am completely unable to install any Windows Update. Not even MSE will install.

I tried running SURT, but got error code 0x8000247
I also tried running SFC /SCANNOW, it ran the verification fase until 98% and then stated that there where unfixable problems.

The displayed error codes are:
In WU: "8024A000"
In SURT: "0x8000247"
Whilst installing MSE: "0x80070643".

Attached you will find CBS.log and MSINFO with my system specs.
Cheers and many thanks in advance,
Nommy

Answer:Windows Update error code 8024A000; unable to install any update.

That's very reminiscent of similar errors in Win7 - and I wouldn't be surprised to see it being non-genuine.
Please post an MGADiag report BEFORE doing the below potential fixes.

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Storage Matrix Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here -
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&DwnldID=17882

(IATA89ENU.exe)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

If nothing has changed, try this...

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

NET STOP CRYPTSVC
REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report and post the results.

If neither of them work, we'll re-evaluate.

My Windows Update has been failing to update for a while now and I can't seem to find the solution. Here's the run-down of what happens step by step:Launch an update scan for Windows Update
It scans for a few seconds then says:

Install new Windows Update software

To check for updates, you must first install an update for Windows Update.

Once I click Install it begins to "Install and Update," but then immediately returns to "Checking for Updates."
The next box I see says:

This happens every time I've attempted to update. After looking up the error code, I found the main Windows site that gave me the following explaination:
If you receive Windows Update error 800F081F, it means that Windows Update or Microsoft Update cannot determine the cryptographic service provider, or a file Windows Update requires (named catalog store) is corrupted.

I've looked through multiple Windows forums and How-To's and have tried all the fixes I found. SURT, sfc/ scannow, the standalone download for WU, Windows Update Diagnostic, multiple malware scans, and Microsoft Fixit. Ultimately, I always get the same error code, (800F081F).

I should also say this problem has been here for a few months now, and it's becoming more worrisome as more time passes. The longer I... Read more

Hello,

I uploaded the CBS.zip

Hope you can help me, thanks.

I have an Acer Aspire Ethos laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. SP1 is installed according to system properties (came installed).

Windows update was working fine until maybe June or May of this year.

I have tried a number of hotfixes, several microsoft fixit (automatic normal and aggressive runs), the sfc /scannow in admin CMD mode, and also uninstalled the last ten or so updates. I have also deleted the contents of the /Downloaded Installation Files/ within C:/Windows but that also did not fix the error.

Have also tried disabling my antivirus but that did not change anything, windows update will not self-update at all.

Nothing seems to work. Please help.

Below see a typical update attempt from the log (repeats almost every other day more or less the same.

Windows Update was working fine until earlier this month, when it suddenly started displaying the mentioned error code.

Have tried running the FixIt tool from Microsoft to reset Windows Update components, but it cannot repair the Windows Update error.

Tried running SURT, but it gave a message about not being able to install hotfix.

SFC /SCANNOW cannot run.

Attached screenshots and log folder.

I didn't see any posts about this, so I hope I am not double posting.

After removing a drive load of viruses, I am still not able to update Windows Vista to Service Pack 1. I have even tried to create a new admin user account in hopes that this would work, but no go. I tried running sfc.exe / scannow from the CMD and it did report that it was unable to repair wextract.exe. Also, the file reportingevents.txt located in %system root%\windows\softwaredistribution\reportingevents.txt lists "Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x80070490".
Although, I think Windows Defender can update. I need to take a break.

Hello. Been having this update issue and already run SURT, Fixit, and SVC to no avail. Even spent some time on a live chat with a microsoft tech to help me out but his tools couldn't help much. So, I've come here to hope for a miracle.

Here are my log files. The attachment manager isn't working at time of posting so I will attempt to upload the full CBS .zip later.

Alright, this has been going on for awhile, and now I'm fed up. Every time I want to update windows, it comes up with this error code - 80090305 Every time I try to update windows defender, it comes up with this error code - 0x80090305 I can't update either! I've looked for solutions online -everywhere- nothing works. I checked what the Microsoft website said, but that didn't help either! I really think I should get these updates, and I'm tired of it popping up and telling me that it can't update. The computer is an Acer (I don't know the exact model, I trying to fix my friends computer and I'll be back there tomorrow.) Anyway, help would be amazing. Thank you! p.s I realize this is my first post, but you know I signed up because I really need help! I've tried everything!

Error 1406 & 0x57E office update install error.

This might be helpful for people getting the above errors, and who have used a Registry Cleaner.

I had a few Office updates that were downloading ok, but would not install. The error was listed as simply 0x57E. A common problem judging by web discussions about it.

To fix it, I first replaced ose.exe Used a cached copy first, then emailed myself a copy from my work PC (only 88kB). That got a few of the updates to install, but not a PowerPoint update.

While wondering what else to try (I did try a number of things suggested on the Net, other than reinstalling Office, or repairing it with the CD, but nothing else helped), I did an Office ?Detect and Repair?. That wouldn?t work either. Kept getting ?Error 1406 Setup cannot write the value to the registry key?? A key was then given, and then other keys as well if I said ?Ignore? on this error. These keys all ended with \InprocServer32.

Then another Windows Update came out, and all installed ok, other than the same PowerPoint update, and now an Excel update would not install as well.

I had read that Registry Cleaners might cause trouble, and I had used CCleaner and Ashampoo. I had saved the changes made by these programs, so I was able to remerge them back into the Registry. That solved both problems ? the Office Install problem and the Office Detect and Repair problem.

It may be that if you are having both (or either) of these problem... Read more

I have tried what I believe to be everything at this point. Clearing out the update download folder and retrying the update does not help whatsoever. Forcing the update through a command prompt just gets the download to 100% and then gives me this error. I tried using the Media Creation tool but it just tells me this when I try to run it: http://puu.sh/jj8v7/a90865de90.png

I have found no advice for this error online. There are maybe a total of 3 reports I can find of this error, and no one has given any working answer to anyone with the issue. Please, someone, halp.

Hello All, Hope someone may be able to sort this one out for me; my efforts so far have been useless  I am using a ThinkPad R60e (model # 0657-3LG), running Win-XP-Home Premium - SP3, with BlueTooth built-in; it worked fine until a few days ago, when I allowed ThinkPad SystemUpdate to attempt to update its driver (Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software) to its most current version (5.5.0.6400). For the first time in its over two years life, SystemUpdate STALLED during the update (never done that for ANY piece of software, application or driver!). I had to "brutally" abort it (after several hours of wait), and tried again: same result. I downloaded the update from Lenovo's Web site, and tried to run it manually (not under the SystemUpdate services): again, it stalled eventually. Assuming an incomplete update was performed, I entered the Windows Control Panel, and went through an UNinstall of the software (to clean the area), closed the Bluetooth radio, and done a reboot. Further to which, I restarted the Bluetooth radio, cancelled the Windows' "detected new hardware" pop-up, and tried to install the driver anew (from the file I previously downloaded); complete failure, with a pop-up stating "Internal Error 2753, F84988_btins.dll". Repeated attempts, produced the same result; this time, the software no longer appears however under the Windows' Control Panel's "Add/ Remove Programs" (incomplete install ...) Under the Device Manage... This is a family member's laptop. It is a Dell Inspirion N4110 running Win 7 Home Premium x64
They gave it to me complaining that the shutdown button restarts the computer and will not actually shut it down.
So I checked its preferences, they were fine. I went into the registry and changed the value from 1 to 0. That didn't work. (I changed it back)

I noticed on start up there is an error (it still pops up) that says there was a problem starting c:\users\blah\AppData\Roaming\homsp.dll The specified module could not be found.

The I decided to run a virus scan. Their McAfee had expired so I uninstalled it along with some odd software from a company called SysTweak or something and installed AVG and Malware Bytes. Those full scans came back clean except AVG found something and removed it but it wasn't of any significance to this issue.

I decided to check Windows Update, it wouldn't run. So I tried to restart it in Services and it wasn't there. After some piddling I found a program that supposedly fixed the problem for you. It was called Fix WU. I got it Softpedia. After running it the Windows Update service was back. I was able to install some updates and thought all was well. Then there were more updates. I tried to install them and got an error 80246008.

So I then realized BITS wasn't listed in the Services, either. I found a download (? [SOLUTION] Windows Update and BITS services missing) that contained reg files for Windows 7, installed it, ran the bits file and then res... Read more

Answer:Update error 80246008, Restart on Shutdown, dll startup error

I'm in no way a expert on such things but I did notice something you found.
SysTweak

Their is no way of knowing all the things a program like that has done. If I had to repair this computer I would start with a repair install.

Give this a good read.

Repair Install

Then I would install MSE for a anti virus and use the built in Windows Firewall.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...tials-download

Little note: If you didn't use McAfee's online removal tool their could of been left overs of McAfee on the computer when you installed AVG and that would be just more problems.
Any anti virus program you remove I recommend using their own removal tool found online.

Just got the new Spectre x360 with i7 Kaby Lake processor.  I like most everything about it, but it gets hot in the upper left hand corner, and the temps are in the 80-90 range during normal load.  Researched possible solutions, and one common solution seems to be making sure the Bios is updated. HP Assistant coincidentally popped in a message about an updated Bios available.  Perfect timing, so I thought.  Bios update downloaded ok, but during installation, I got the error message c2-Error: Region is write protected.   Thoughts on how to update the Bios?  I know that one of the recommendations is not to update the  Bios unless something is not working.  Everything seems to be working fine, but I'm thinking I should update he Bios anyway to see if it solves the heat problem.  Thoughts on that? Thanks.

I have been trying all day to run my windows update. I just got my computer out of the box today. The windows update says that the update process can not be done until the "update to Windows Update" is installed. I have tried to install it and I keep getting the error code 80070643. I went to the "help" area. I said to go to services and restart the office source engine to automatic (delayed start). It did not work.

I have searched microsoft.com and there is said to set the ose to manual. I tried that too! Nothing is working.

I even tried to manually install the windows update from the microsoft website and it gave me the same error code.

Several places I find online keeps saying something about office 2003, but I have 2007.

Any ideas?

My pc is running Windows 7 64 bit. I get an Update Manager error message which states 'An error occurred Error # -3' Whenever the update manager tries to check for updates. If I click 'update now,' It tells me I'm not connected to the internet. (I am connected) Following the more information link to the consumer.installshield.com website I'm told the error is either due to running ie5 or earlier (I'm running ie8)or that the pm.html file is corrupt. It then suggests reloading the update manager but uninstalling and reinstalling this has not solved the problem.Any suggestions?

I have a Lenovo 3000 Y410 Notebook (Model 7757). It is under warranty. Since few days, I have been experiencing problems with reading CD/DVD's in my drive. However, I am able to write CD/DVD's. I went to this page http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=6 and updated Firmware update for Optiarc DVD-RW/CD-RW drive, model AD-7560A. Then, I tried to update the BIOS. But, I am getting the following error message: Cannot load driver C:\Bios\05CN63WW\PHLASHNT.SYS. Please check your accounts, if you have no adminstrator privilege, please log in ! Access is denied. Error code: 5 Today, I called Lenovo Customer Care in the US. The representative asked me to visit http://zeroserenity.com/?page_id=121 and run Upper and Lower Filters Reset (in General Tools Section). I again got the following error message: Error: Access denied. Access is denied. <5> Actually, I have an administrator account. The laptop has only 2 accounts. Mine is administrator account and the other one is limited account. I used admin account to run these operations. I closed Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet security also. The representative suggested to backup all data and run one-touch system restore. She said that this could remove the glitch that the laptop is having. I would like to do this as a last resort. Is there any option available to solve this ??? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

With the latest ransomware troubles it would be great to get this fixed. It has been a problem since last August.

Have tried everything I can think of including manual updates - no luck.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Answer:Update error: (KB3172729) - Error 0x80248007 - continues

Hi innovation2. Welcome to the TenForums @innovation2

First I would run the Windows Update trouble shooter.

Windows key + S, search bar appears, type troubleshooting into search bar, troubleshooting appears at top. Click it, window opens, lower right side "Fix problems with Windows Update", click. Window opens, click on “advance”, click on Run as administrator, click “Next”. Should run clean. If not run again.

Then try update.

If this doesn't work, to a command prompt(admin)

sfc /scannow

There is another Trouble shooter at

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...troubleshooter

which another member said fixed their issue.

After that I would recommend is an in place repair / upgrade. This will take you to the Creator Update and I'm not sure you that is where you want to be depending on the age of your gear. The Creator Update is being rolled out by MS and with each wave they learn / fix and promote. That is not to say you can't do it, just to say there is some risk.

Lets see how the trouble shooters and file checker work.

Hello all,I have upgraded from windows 10 home to Windows 10 education using key from Microsoft imagine a few months ago. When I try to apply creator's update using Windows 10 upgrade assistant, I get the following error at the boot:

If I select F8 or Enter, nothing happens. Pressing esc takes me to Bios. And after restarting, it boots normally without applying creator's update.

In update history, it shows that following update is applied "Windows 10 Creators Update Privacy Settings for x64-based Systems (KB4013214)"

I have my laptop in UEFI, AHCI(changed from RAID at the time of dual boot with Ubuntu).

How can I solve this issue?

Thanks

Answer:winload.efi error during creator's update, error 0xc0000225

I would recommend you recreate your media using the Media Creator Tool with an 8GB USB key.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/soft...load/windows10

Before running "Setup" from the key please enter your BIOS and ensure secure boot is disable while you do the update.

I am connected to a wifi network on my phone and my one drive account says I have 14 GB free of storage. My phone says when i try to upload from the camera roll "This video may be larger than the maximum file size,or you may have reached the upload limit for your account" Last time i checked you could upload a 2GB file at once. How is a 7 minute and 25 second video larger than 2 GB? Or is there another reason?

Answer:Video will not upload to skydrive/onedrive even if skydrive has the space.

7 and half minute video should not be that big, but you can check this if you connect your phone to PC via USB cable and open the File Manager. Maybe there is a way how to check the size on your phone as well.
