I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Acer-E1 572G Touchpad & Keyboard not working!

Hi,
Welcome to the forums, go to control panel, uninstall "Launch Manager" in Programs, download from here and re-install it:
Download Drivers and Manuals | Acer Official Site
Try different drivers for synaptics, for example, Acer Aspire E1-572 Synaptics Touchpad Driver 17.0.6.13 for Windows 8.1 64-bit Drivers download - Synaptics Software Update
EDIT:
If you find ETD Ware in Programs, right click and uninstall it, that's your Elantech but I couldn't see it in your Device manager.

Hello, I recently bought a new acer laptop. E5-572G-58KY. I am using Windows 7, even though on the acer drivers website, you can only find windows 8 drivers for this laptop.I managed to install most of the drivers, without the touchpad, it just doesn't work, you can click and that's it, it has no fuctions. In device manager, there is no touchpad, there is only HID-compliant Mouse. I tried installing the windows 8 drivers for the touchpad but they dont work, it says that they installed correctly, but it says that theres no use for them as it doesnt find the hardware. I tried installing both synaptics and elantech drivers. Help?

I just received this laptop today from Amazon and was happy to use it. However, when I turned it on and tried to get past the new user stuff (the stuff you fill out when you use the computer for the first time) I couldn't because of this awkward touchpad. I figured that since it had no buttons, you had to tap to click things, but no matter what I do, nothing works so now I can't even get past the new user stuff. Should I return this in to Amazon and get a replacement or am I doing something wrong. Thanks in advance! *Again, I've never had a laptop with a buttonless touchpad, so any explanations on how it's supposed to be used would be nice.

Hi miniroo, I am guessing you have a precision touch pad on your laptop. Find more information here: http://community.acer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/Changing-Windows-8-1-precision-touchpad-settings/ta-p/32...  If the information was helpful, remember to mark (Accept as Solution), and give a KUDO, this will help others with same problems to find the solution and solving their problem as well. I got a touchpad problem on my new Acer Aspire VN7-572G-72LO. The cursor suddenly begins to jump around not reacting to user interaction anymore. I then have to deactivate and reactive the touchpad using FN+F7 - but that's not what I'm expecting from a new laptop. What I did so far is to update the touchpad driver to version 19.0.7.34. This made things better but the problem still persists, occurring less often though. Any ideas on this? Regards

Answer:Touchpad problems on Acer Aspire VN7-572G-72LO

Meandron,

I find it strange that the random jumping around stops after disabling the touchpad and enabling it again, that function is there to prevent "interaction" with the touchpad from being performed.

Honestly, you might want to see about having it inspected by the local Acer repair center since you have already updated the driver.

Hello. I am hoping that someone will have a solution to some weirdnesses going on with my Acer 5050. It came with Vista but I reformatted the hard drive and installed XP. Everything had been going smoothly until I decided to download Service Pack 3. While Service Pack 3 was downloading my network hiccuped or something and Service Pack 3 was aborted mid download. After that happened the computer was a complete mess, so I reformatted the hard drive and re-installed XP. I am now at the point of downloading all MS XP updates, virus protection, anti-spyware etc.

The problem I seem to be having is sometimes after a reboot the touchpad and keyboard will not work. An external wireless mouse will though. I find if I do a reboot both the touchpad and the keyboard will come back to life but often when the touchpad and keyboard will not work the computer will not reboot, I must pull out the battery to get the silly machine to reboot.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Brenda

Answer:Acer 5050 Touchpad/Keyboard Stop Working

here's two drivers i found, but im not quite sure which one is the right one, you should try the newest one first and see if it works, if it doesnt then try the older one.

Hi,
My neighbours computer is an Acer Aspire 6920G that is 9 months old, it has just come back from the store she brought it at and still has the same issue.
It runs Vista Home Premium, which I am not familiar with.
The machine boots fine, but does not recognise the keyboard, touchpad, and now has no sound drivers or options.
The machine was not sold with a Vista disc, just a generic recovery disc that does not allow me to use the SFC /scannow or repair console.
I am familiar with XP to intermediate, but never used Vista before.

Can anyone please help

Hello, I've just bought a V3-572G. I'm very happy with my laptop but I have a problem, the precision touchpad never worked. I can move it around but I can't left/right click. I've tried downloading the latest drivers from te Acer official web, upgrading Windows to Windows 10, dowloading the drivers from the Synapctis web, switching my BIOS from Advanced to Basic back and fort. But nothing seems to work. Could anyone help me? Thanks a lot

Answer:V3-572G Touchpad not working

Check if enabling or disabling Tap or Click function (depending upon your requirement) helps to resolve the issue. To know how to do this, refer to the instructions mentioned on the link below:http://acer--uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8086/~/how-to-enable-the-tap-to-click-function If the issue still persists, you are advised to contact nearest Acer service center by using the link below as your laptop is new and under warranty:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service Hope this will help you.

Hi Can anyone please help, i have read various posts about the touchpad not working but everyone else sems to have it either stop working all together or randomly flicker off during operation. Mine only occurs after it has gone into sleep mode so i'm not sure if its the same issue. It is really annoying as i am so used to putting it to sleep and keeping my files open, then coming back to it and now i can't do that. Only way to fix it is to restart my computer which is extremely frustrating having to close everything down. And working around a computer with just the keyboard is not easy when you don't know how - I at least have basic knowledge from work experiences to manage to get into some files and save and close. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

My 6 months old Acer Aspire E1-572G, has works without any problems. But 1 month ago, the keyboard started not working at some times. It's not the whole keyboard that doesn't work, it's several buttons, which will in a period of time not work, and suddenly they work again. Sometime restarting the computer works for a while, but then the problem comes back. Nothing has been spilled in the keyboard, and nor have it been dropped, so i really don't think the keyboard should already have problem like this, and need a replacement. Anyone having a solutions for this, i would be very happy.

My mom has a Acer 5102. The touchpad and keyboard don't work on the laptop. I tried plugging in a mouse to the USB and that didn't work either. All I want to do is back up my files to an external hard drive but I can't do it without a keyboard or the touchpad. I tried doing FN + F7, and FN + F6, and even FN + F7 + ALT. I heard those key combinations work, but it didn't in my case. Also, she said at first the OS wouldn't boot for a couple days, but now it boots but the keyboard and touchpad doesn't work. Does anyone know what the problem could be?wee

Answer:ACER Keyboard and touchpad doesn't work

Try http://www.laptoprepair101.com for a good desciption on how to disassemble a laptop.Be VERY careful when disassembling. They are fragile and the connections are short. The ribbon cable under the keyboard might be the problem although the USB connections are integrated on the motherboard and with your earlier problems might point to that as the cause.

My friends acer laptop has a freeze recently in a Pes6 game we turned it off and when we turned it on we watch everything as a normal windows xp startup when we came to the welcome screen we realized that touchpad and keyboard are not working. We think Fn+F? but the real problem is keyboard is not working at all. We can't access to bios with F2 at the very first startup. We tried to plug in a usb mouse but no electricity activity can be seen in it too. USB's not working either. But there are no errors and windows seems to start without any problem. Have a suggestion?

Answer:Acer 5101 keyboard usb and touchpad are dead

Hook-up and PS/2 keyboard and mouse to your laptop if you have that hookup or use USB Keyboard and mouse. You need to get into the BIOS and see if the keyboard and mouse is enabled.

Also by doing it this way you can also see under XP what happen. Try removing the battery from the laptop and try it again...

Is this a product's limitation or should it work?

I've been trying to fix this Acer Aspire 5100 laptop for about a year, on and off. Figured I'd ask here before I pull the hard drive and brick it.

Laptop boots up fine and everything works for anywhere from two seconds to five minutes, give or take. Then the touchpad, keyboard and all ports (usb, etc) stop working. The amount of time that they work varies, so I have a feeling this is a heat issue. The OS and any open programs continue to work, though. I can't bypass with a mouse since usb ports don't work. However, I can put it into sleep mode by pressing the Power button, so at least that is working. When I put it into sleep, wait a few minutes, and power it back on the touchpad/keyboard/ports work again but then shut down again after a variable amount of time. Again, this leads me to believe that this is a heating issue (the devices work until the heat causes them to disconnect.)

What I've tried so far:

Fn/F7 (touchpad on/off toggle)
New thermal paste on CPU
Removed battery and powered with only the adaper (a common battery-related problem with this model)
Took it apart, tried to spot any weakened solder points

I'm sort of leaning towards the fact that this issue might be a costly fix so I'm probably going to end up bricking it and getting a netbook. I would like to try anything that might keep it alive, though.

Thank you!

Just ruled out malware in other section of this forum. Laptop's integrated keyboard suffers intermittent lock-ups for no apparent reason (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, right now, doesn't). Touchpad seems deactivated (tried FN + F7 in case of accidental disable, but that's not the case), every option related to touchpad are grayed out in 'mouse' menu (config panel). Before malware check-up,tried system restore to last week, all problems were still there, so I reverted back. I have to use visual keyboard to type. Have to work with external mouse because touchpad doesn't work. Tried reinstalling touchpad drivers from Acer website, and didn't work. Computer worked perfect a few days ago.

Answer:Acer aspire 5749-6823 keyboard intermittent, touchpad a.w.o.l.

Sounds like you may have some system files corrupt. This can occur after a lot of spyware. Some times just removing it dose not correct what it has already messed up. Your best maybe to back up your personal stuff. Then do a factory reinstall.

Got a user who has a Acer 5100-3583 notebook, the keyboard and touchpad are unresponsive after multiple reboots and standard trouble shooting yield no results.? The unit is only 14 months old and out of warranty.
Any clues?

It will read from DVD-ROM drive as it reads a DVD movie when inserted.
No USB devices such as keyboard and mouse work either.

Thanks

Answer:Acer 5100-3583 notebook keyboard & touchpad frozen..?

- in windows, press Fn+F7 (or the combination you have to activate/deactivate touchpad
- In the bios (press F2 when it appears the ACER screen when booting), be sure that the Tpad is enabled.
Purchase a usb mouse and keyboard and by pass the problem.
Restore to an earlier date to make sure the configuration wasn't dumped somewhere along the line.
Reformat the system.
Check with Acer Site under troubleshooting to see if there are any other solutions.
Last resort and if your capable open casing to check for loose connections. ( It does appear Acer has problems with touchpads frequently)
Luck to you and this is about all the thoughts I came up with right now. Let us know...Jazz

I have an Acer Aspire-572G-51XW that was bought just over a month ago. The thing is that when I bought the computer it came with Acer Care Center but I didn't care about it very much. I installed Windows 10 and I have already done a clean install and 2 system restore because of a bad driver that was making my computer to get BSOD 3/4 times a day. I think that I installed Care Center when I updated to Windows 10 and it worked fine but now I want to install it again but it says that my computer isn't supported. Can it be a problem with some driver or some software? I downloaded the Care Center from the drivers page of my model.

Hi, I have read some of the other threads hoping a previously posted solution would work for me. I did find the post where fmapp.exe was the culprit but I do not have that program.

Answer:Acer Aspire touchpad not working

I would make sure the touch pad did not some how get turned off. Go into the menu, if you're working with XP/ Vista it should be in the control panel under mouse. There should be a tab that has an option for the touchpad. It might open up a window, either way there will be something that gives you an option for enabling or disabling it. Make sure that it is enabled.

I did some early support with Acer however it didn't fix the problem and I eventually just gave up. I can see that lots of people have posted about this problem but the solutions are a few months old so am wondering if there are any newer fixes. I am not super-tech savvy so simple fixes would be great (if possible!)

I looked up how to fix the "stuck at checking for updates forever" and I figured out how to get the updates working by manually installing a few updates using standalone update packages from Microsoft.com. I had to disable my internet and disable windows update with 'net stop wuauserv' in cmd. After installing them in the correct order based on the prerequisites section for the update that another forum mentioned, I ran 'net start wuauserv' and enabled my internet. It then, by itself, installed 221 updates and it took 10 hours. Now the touchpad on it has stopped working and is not listed in device manager. Please help.

Answer:acer laptop touchpad not working

It is possible that the touch pad is malfunctioning. Most probably you have turned it off. Toggling Fn+F7 turns mine on and off. Yours may differ. Check your manual for configuration of your model.

Hello!!

I have windows 8. My touchpad is not working. The pointer is not visible on my screen anywhere! I have tried Acer recovery to re install i believe and it still says in the device manager that the "Synaptics touchpad device is not working, not present, or does not have all drivers installed (Code 24)". And there is a yellow triangle next to the mouse in the device manager. which was so hard to find! I had to hit "view" at the top and click "show hidden icons". Why would the touchpad be hidden?? lol anyways...I hit the Ctrl key and it does the circle where the pointer should be. I have a touchscreen so where ever I touch that's where the circle is. No pointer though. Any Ideas?? It has been asking me to update to windows 8.1...if I try that would that help?? thank goodness this is a touchscreen or i wouldn't even be able to ask for help. Please let me know anything! thank you!

I'm not sure where to ask but I have a problem.

My laptop (Acer Aspire 4750G) touchpad is not working. It is still usable, I can move the cursors with it. But the system seems telling me that I keep pressing the right button of the touchpad, so when I left click/tap the touchpad, it works as a right click instead. I disabled that by plugging in my USB mouse and right-clicking on the mouse. Well the problem comes again after I do that so I'm forced to use the USB mouse, which would be very annoying and time-eating if I have something to do quickly. Also, there's nothing stuck in there a the drivers are up-to-date.

I recently had my hard drive upgraded to an SSD but since the installation the touch pad on my Acer Aspire 4750 is not working. I clicked the Fn/F7 buttons to make sure it was turned on and even checked the connection under the keyboard. All drivers are updated on the computer as well. Any suggestions?Chuck

Answer:Acer touchpad driver not working

Try uninstalling it in Device Manager and then 'detect new hardware' or restart the machine to reinstall it. This is especially useful if there is a bad or corrupt driver that is not allowing the correct driver to properly install over it.You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hi,So my keyboard works fine and whenever I boot up my computer from being fully shut down, my touchpad works fine until I am logged in and my account fully boots. After that, toggling the touchpad on and off doesn't do anything, and I've tried going to the Acer Recovery Manager and re-installing the driver and restarting and the same thing happened. At the log-in screen the touchpad works, and after logging in it works for about 5-10 seconds and then does not anymore. If I start the computer up from sleep mode it doesn't work at all at any point. Anyone got any ideas? Much appreciated

If you have upgraded to Windows 8.1, the driver in Recovery won't be the correct driver. You would need the 8.1 driver. Is it a Synaptics touchpad?TouchPadSynapticsTouchpad Driver17.0.6.13121.7 MB2013/10/11Download Or an Elantech TouchPadELANTECHTouchpad Driver11.6.27.201123.2 MB2013/10/11Download If this doesn't work, you can do a Factory Recovery, which I believe returns it to Windows 8, and it will probably work again. If that doesn't work, you might have a defective/ broken touchpad.

I bought an acer aspire V3-572G-7535 almost 3 months ago. I have a poblem with touchpad. When i get the computer to sleep , my touchpad not working. I updated my touchpad driver but problem still going on.?s there any solutions for this problem?

Answer:V3-572G-7535 Touchpad problem

zynpzdner,

I want to make sure I understand what you are having an issue with, it sounds like your touchpad is not working after the notebook comes out of sleep mode.

Was this after a recent Windows update or an upgrade to Windows 10? If you upgraded to Windows 10, I would suggest that you remove the drivers for the touchpad and let Windows attempt to install them itself, that may resolve it.

My touchpad works fine with whatever driver was installed by the factory, but I'd like to have the software (if any exists) to customize the scroll areas, corner buttons, etc. I can't even figure out what brand the touchpad is - on the drivers page there are driver downloads for both Synaptics and Elantech for Windows 8.1. But they're just the drivers anyway - I'd like the software for whatever brand is on my laptop. Thanks for any help.

Hello, You'll find the brand of device in the Device Manager like this: Open Control Panel --> Device Manager --> Expand mice and others pointing devices ---> You'll see the touch pad.

I love this forum and have found a ton of useful information but this is my first time posting.

So I have an Acer Aspire ES1-512-P18H laptop that came stock with Windows 10. I deleted the partition and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 in legacy mode with a USB flash drive. I then installed most of my drivers and noticed that the scroll function on the keypad was not working.

I went to Acer Aspire ES1-512 Drivers Download for Windows 10, 8.1, 7, Vista, XP and downloaded the "Mouse and Touchpad Driver" which is an Elantech driver. No luck.

I then uninstalled said driver and downloaded the Synaptics "Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 64/32-bit Edition v17.0.19" driver from Software Drivers | White Papers | Videos | Synaptics. Again, no luck.

cornelliusdraco,

If the zoom feature is working in one browser and not the other it does not sound like a problem with the computer and more of either compatibility with the browser or the browser itself needs to possibly be updated. If it is not working in Google Chrome, you can submit a report to Google to investigate it for you.

Hi. My laptop is just 4 months old bt I am already having the problem in my touchpad. It is not working. I had Windows7 on my laptop. The touchpad was working very well and smoothly but suddenly one day, it stopped working. I thought it happened because I was using Windows 7 so I installed Windows 8.1 hoping that everything would be okay but even during the Windows installation, I had to use keyboard commands. The touchpad didn't work at all. It is not working even after the Window has been completely installed. For an alternative, I am using an USB mouse. And, you know this is really ridiculous. Please do not suggest me Fn + F7 because I am not that dumb to not to know that simple trick. My keypad is not working at all!

Manozshrestha20,

I am sorry and can imagine this being frustrating. It looks like you did right with your assumption by putting the OEM load back on as that would have been a suggestion. Since you have done this already and it is clearly not a FN + F7 issue, then it sounds like a hardware problem with the touchpad.

Normally I would have you go into PC settings -> PC and devices -> Mouse and touchpad and check to see if the touchpad is On or if you even get that option. However, by default it should be on because you performed a clean install. So at this time since you are in warranty, I would recommend contacting technical support in you region for further assistance.

Hello, recently I asked a technician(or whatever you call him) at my small local PC store, which he owns that store, to add another RAM stick for my Acer Aspire V nitro v7-791g. Since I couldn't be bothered with it myself, I thought it would be the best idea. So he did that and the next day I go to take my laptop back and when I get back home I notice that the touchpad/trackpad isn't working, there is no cursor on windows either. I connect my USB mouse and it seems to work, but not the touchpad, and when I disconnect the USB mouse, the cursor dissapears. I called the technician, he said that it happens a lot, I just need to enable it in control panel - mouse settings. I did everything, I searched everywhere how to, even fn+f7 or whatever which is supposed to disable and re-enable the touchpad doesn't work. In device manager only my mouse shows up, I can't find the touchepad. Installed synaptics latest drivers from their website, still nothing. No drivers, no touchpad, no cursor. Only my USB mouse seems to work. I called them two more times, but they just hung up on me. I feel like they messed up a cable or something which connects the touchepad to the motherboard, otherwise, why else would it not work? Do any of you know what could be wrong?P.S.   I have read a few topics for solving this kinda problem, and there was some topics, where the problem was absolutely the same, like mine, but those solutions didnt work for me, unfortunetely.  I bought ma Lenovo IdeaPad laptop a few days ago, and when I woke up today, my keyboard and touchpad didnt work. Hi folks

I hope someone can help me. My laptop recently became buggered by a virus and as I did not have a windows 7 installation disc I decided to restore it to its factory default using some sort of dell backup utility.

Since I did this my touchpad and keyboard no longer seems to work! keyboard works fine when i select f8 on startup as i can flick through the options however when i boot into safe mode the touchpad and keyboard still don't work.

I don't know what to do as I can't do anything without the keyboard or touchpad!

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you need any more info let me know.

Thanks

Linty

Answer:keyboard and touchpad not working

Try connecting an external usb KB and mouse to it and see if Windows will pick them up.

Hello, When I start my computer it all works fine, but after a couple minutes of using it the touchpad mouse will just stop working and so will the keyboard. I have a touch screen so I can go to the control panel and to the mouse. If i disable the synaptic touchpad then enable it the mouse and keyboard work for a short time then stop again. Do you know what could be wrong?   Model - HP Pavilion 17-f227nrOS - Windows 10 home Thanks

Hi everyone, and Happy Holidays,

I just installed windows 7 ultimate on my daughters, acer aspire 3050 laptop. It was running vista home basic before. The vista install was damaged by viruses, so I decided to upgrade her to 7. All the hardware was recognized, but for some reason the keyboard does not work, it was working fine with the virus riddled vista install. For some strange reason the windows key does bring up the start menu, but none of the other keys seem to do anything. They all work in the BIOS just fine. Also the touch pad does work, but the cursor movement is very jerky, and it was also fine in vista. I went to acer's site, they don't have any windows 7 drivers available for this model, or any vista drivers for the keyboard, I installed the vista touch pad drivers, but they did not seem to help. I also messed with the keyboard settings in control panel, but nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any ideas, on what I need to do to fix this. I have been really pleased with 7 on my other computers, and would hate to have to go back to vista. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated, Thank you in advance,

Steve

Answer:keyboard and touchpad not working

The reason it won't work is because there is no Windows 7 support for your acer aspire 3050 laptop. You can see this at the Acer website, choose Notebook, Aspire then Aspire 3050 which will show you a page for your laptop. You can see there is no Windows 7 support as yet. Acer Support - Drivers & Download

Looks like you already found this out.

Let me look around and see if anyone has found a driver that will work. Nothing found that is made for your exact model so far.

Your model isn't on the list of supported laptops but that doesn't mean that a touchpad driver from another notebook won't work on your model. I would pick a model on the Windows 7 supported list, then find the touchpad and keyboard driver for that model and try it out.

I had to rever back to windows 8.1 because of issues persisting at larger scale. But now the keyboard and touchpad for my HP pavilion 15-n225tu laptop have stopped working. It works when on bios screen but as the windows starts it doesn't work. What may be the issues here?

Answer:Keyboard and touchpad not working.

Drivers.
Check your OEM support site for the latest driver set BEFORE 29, July, 2015 as those would be good for 8.1

Hi everyone
I recently formatted+reinstaled Windows on a "old" laptop (Acer Aspire 5620)
I installed Windows 7 (instead of Xp that it had earlier ) and after the installation was complete (first time n desktop) the touchpad and keyboard would not operate. at all
Ive tried all windows updates (in case of drivers), because there are no official drivers for 7(only xp)

The thing is that inside device manager theres nothing wrong with the touch+keyboard
(no marks, both are recognized and "operate fine")
Ive tried reboots, sometimes rarely the keyboard might enter a couple characters (with delay) and sometimes the touchpad might move the pointer a bit (with delay too)

However the keyboard works fine in bios, and both worked perfectly in windows setup (in formatting i mean)
The devices also works ok in safe mode.

Any ideas plz?

P.S. The computer before the format had ALSO win7 so its not something new with that

I have seen a setting before on other computers where you can check a box to disable the touchpad when a USB mouse is plugged in. I can't find it on this Aspire V3-572G. I thought it was somewhere in the mouse settings dialog, but can't find it. I am running Win8.1 Pro. Thanks for anyone's help.

Something weird happened. It would not work no matter what I tried. I was watching a movie on KODI formerly XBMC. I accidently touched the Keypad and the Mouse moved. I pressed the Video button and it lit up. Only thing that I can figure out is that it took several hours for the driver update to work or that the Video triggered the Touchpad. I had uninstalled and deleted every instance of the driver including the Backup System Reserved created by a MS Tech, when my Windows Ultimate became corrupted. Initialy it had Win-7 Home Premium and when it would not install IE10 at the time MS gave me a free upgrade to Ultimate.Even then it took a week to finally get IE10 installed because the Computer Lacked Service pack1. Kudos to the MS Techs, they called me numerous times and worked on my computer. The spoke excellent English and are based in India. Laptop was out of warranty and Acer pretty much said tough luck, you gotta pay. MS did not charge me one cent.

For the past few months, the right touchpad button does not work with the Windows 10 drivers. Windows 8.1 drivers worked fine. If I switch mouse settings to left handed, then the buttons work fine, but obviously this is awkward to get used to. I have rollbacked the driver to a very old edition and it worked fine, however then I had no synaptics touchpad settings so the touchpad settings could not be altered.

19.0.9.7 is the synaptics version

touchpad works fine on other user accounts

I bought my Acer Aspire E1-472P-6860 about a month ago, and while the laptop is great, Im suffering from the same issue. My touchpad and gestures were working fine up until about 4 days ago, rougly around when I got another series of updates from microsoft for windows. My touchpad still works, but my gestures are long gone and I have no idea on how to get them back. I've tried downloading the ELAN drivers from the drivers page acer provides, but that didn't help at all, and now my tray icon just looks like this: In addition to this, whenever I try to go and look at my mouse settings in control panel, the options pane for my ELAN options comes up blank, like this:I'm at a loss for what to do I'm literally fuming to try and get my gestures back after I JUST figured out how awesome they are, and I could realy use some help on this matter as I don't want to factory reset just yet.
