Bluetooth Device Missing, Unknown USB Device

Question: Bluetooth Device Missing, Unknown USB Device

Recently I attempted to connect to an existing paired connection to my phone via bluetooth. I have never had this problem before, yet suddenly Bluetooth is missing. There is no longer an icon in the taskbar, the setting in "PC and Devices" is missing, and there appears to not be a driver installed, rather, an ""Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" appears in my devices instead. I have taken many steps to attempt and fix this, such as:
manually starting Bluetooth services from services.mscuninstalling the "Unknown Device" driver, then attempting to let Windows reinstalldownloaded the driver software from Lenovo for the Bluetooth adapter, installed it manually restartedtake a system restore created yesterday and revert back to it

Everything else in the PC functions perfectly. Any help is appreciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Bluetooth Device Missing, Unknown USB Device

I had a similar problem recently where my bluetooth seemed to have just disappeared.
I ran the Find and Fix problems with devices (Just typed it into the start screen). It found one thing which by memory said something about a usb device being disabled. Clicked for it to fix the problem and enable it. Sure enough my bluetooth was right back.
Not sure if it will work for you, but its worth a try.

I was just working happily when my Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse just suddenly stopped working.
The Bluetooth settings page says "Bluetooth is turned off" and there are no options on the settings page or the system tray to turn Bluetooth on.
The Device Manager now has "Unknown USB device - device descriptor request failed" where it did not before.
Other devices all seem to be working fine - USB devices plugged in are being recognized and work properly. Only BT seems to be broken.
I've tried:
uninstalling the device and rebooting
installing the latest updated chipset drivers from the dell website
windows updates
pretty much all of the advice here: http ://troubleshooter.xyz/wiki/fix-usb-device-not-recognized-device-descriptor-request-failed

Any other ideas?
Thanks

Answer:XPS 15 9550 Bluetooth stopped working (Unknown USB device - device descriptor request failed)

So in desperation I just went into BIOS settings to see if there are any BT settings that may have become disabled. I didn't see any, and I didn't change any other settings.
After rebooting, BT and my mouse is now working again.
Something seems to be really flaky here, but hopefully this will help others with the same issue.

I upgraded to Windows 10 a while back. Every time I open the computer I get a pop-up notification telling me the USB device is unrecognized. I have no USB devices in any of my 3 USB ports.
I sent my computer in twice. No help. They just uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything and told me it should be fixed. It is not. I then went about updating every driver in my Device Manager. I uninstalled the Unknown USB Device and then updated
other drivers. Certain drivers (such as PCI Express Root Port #3 - 9C14) when updating would also reinstall the Unknown USB Device, which I would then uninstall and keep working down the list. At the end of updating EVERYTHING I scanned for hardware changes
and "found" the Unknown USB Device.
From what I can tell, and I know very little about this stuff, my computer can't name one of my USB ports. Since it can't figure out what it's called it can't download the proper driver for it. Since it can't download the proper driver it can't work properly.
The practical result from this is that one of my three USB ports does nothing when I put in any USB item (connect my android phone, thumb drive, presentation clicker, etc).
I've looked on tons of forums. My current thought is that if I can tell my computer what the deice is or download the right driver and tell my computer to use that driver for this device it should solve my issue. But I don't know how to know what the name
of the USB port should be (I imagine it woul... Read more

I get crazy with this problem. I think since I installed the Windows 10 Creators Update, my Bluetooth connection to my Microsoft Surface Keyboard (Bluetooth) gets lost. After that the Bluetooth is shown in the hardware manager as an "unknown usb device" (Error-Code 43). What helps: Deinstallation of this device, shut down of the laptop and than turning it on again. After that Bluetooth is installed again...until it randomly breaks down like described above. Sometimes it loses Wifi-Connection too when the Bluetooth breaks down. It just happend when I work with the above mentioned Keyboard. When I work remotely with an MS Sculpt Bluetooth mouse, I never have this problem. Not driver re-installation helped. Wifi/Bluetooth card replacement also didn't help. Do I really need to reinstall Windows 10 or throw the Keyboard into the trash? Hope someone can help me here.

Answer:Missing Unknown device Driver

Hi: I have zipped up and attached the first driver you need below. Download and unzip the file to its folder.  Do not do anything with the files in the folder. Go to the device manager and click on the ASD0001 device needing the driver. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder you unzipped. Make sure the include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.  Then reboot the PC. The 6001 device needs this driver... http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6943827&swItemId=ob_124774_1&swEnvOid=4158

I've just installed Vista on my Portege M400, and installed all the drivers on the Vista driver page.
But I've got several issues...

1: The bluetooth doesn't work. I can't find anywhere in the control panel anything about a bluetooth connection or anything else.

2: After installing all the drivers on the Vista driver page, there was 2 "Unknown Device"'s in Device Manager. I can't find any information about what these devices are. However when I manually tried to install the bluetooth driver on the first of these "Unknown Device"'s it accepted the driver. This doesn't work on the other one. And it didn't solve the problem of the missing bluetooth.

3: The tablet function itself works fine - the stylus and all. But when I turn the screen into tablet mode it doesn't change the screen layout. Nor does the buttons on the lower part of the screen work.

I hope that there's some kind of solution for these problems - And that someone can help me.

Answer:Bluetooth is missing from device manager

Welcome to the forum.

You need to activate BlueTooth, by hitting FN+F5, to turn it on. It won't appear in your device manager until it's turned on. See these device manager screen shots:

With BlueTooth turned off, there is no BT listed:

With BlueTooth turned on via Fn+F5, there is the BT Radio, and Human Interface Device listed:

Also, you may need to flip a "switch" on the front panel, to turn on the Wireless adapter, before hitting Fn+F5, depending upon your model.

Hi all.

I'm using an ASUS laptop X53E series running Win7 sp1. I use an Acer 27" external monitor and do not have the laptop monitor on. I noticed an error msg this a.m. indicating that an Unknown Device is missing a driver. I searched in "Unknown Device Properties" -- "Details" -- "Property" -- "Device Instance Path" -- "Value" to figure out what device is being detected. The Value is ROOT\DISPLAY\FSVIDMIR.

I haven't found anything by searching Google, Bing or Tech Support Guy. This "unknown device" was installed six days ago on 8/30/14. I did change the monitor connection from HDMI to a VGA 15 pin cord, but that happened yesterday, not six days ago.

I should also mention that I connected my Samsung Galaxy 3 to a USB port which screwed up my system (I don't remember any of the details) but that was well before 8/30/14. I cannot open TSG SysInfo or I would have included it in this message.

Any ideas, direction, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Larry K

I have run services.msc and restarted the associated BT services and they are running. Would appreciate any help.

I've been unsuccessful in pairing my LG GR500 cell phone with my T61 (6459-CTO).  It worked fine for months, but something must have changed on my PC.  I fear that my "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard" software has been deleted or corrupted.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the Bluetooth Radio many times in Device Manager and that has not helped.  I'm up-to-date on Windows Update. I've read the verbiage on the Lenovo Support website and uninstalled/reinstalled the Bluetooth Enhanced Data Rate Software II several times, but still no luck.  I have version 6.1.0.5100 installed now. The Bluetooth symbol appears in my Task Tray and I can click on it to open Bluetooth Settings, Add A Bluetooth Device, etc. My phone never appears there.  The Bluetooth on my phone works just fine since I have it paired up with my car and use that all the time.  My phone also "finds" my laptop and then requests a Passcode, however, I no longer see any software on my laptop where I can specify the Passcode. My integrated Bluetooth has suddenly stopped working (had been working fine since I got the laptop in August), and the Bluetooth device has disappeared from the taskbar and the device manager altogether. I've looked up my product on the drivers page and reinstalled the Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Driver for Windows 7, Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology for Windows 7, but to no avail. Also restored the system back a couple weeks to see if it was an update issue. Still nothing. In the Devices and Printer window, I see two items under the "unspecified" section, "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" and "Standard Serial over Bluetooth link (COM5)", but not sure what these are. Bluetooth is enabled in the BIOS. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Have you ensured that your BIOS and chipset have also been updated? All drivers for your system can be found here. Also, can you right-click on the device marked Bluetooth Peripheral Device, select its properties, and try to update the driver from there?

Could anybody advise how I might get my bluetooth functionality back? It was working before.

The bluetooth icon is gone from the taskbar, and it's missing from Settings/Device.

I can't hook up my external bluetooth speaker. I was able to as recently as a few days ago.

hey manugautam000,welcome to the forums, disable to camera from device manager and remove the current driver installed to it.reboot your unit, re-enable the camera. windows should then install its own generic drivers.test your camera with the generic drivers.later on, head to http://support.lenovo.com , download the latest camera driver for your unit. set your unit to diagnostic mode via msconfig and then install.

If the warning keeps popping up, change the reminder settings to ?never?. Probably, you have to wait for an LSC update in which the bug would be fixed.

Refer here for further information regarding the issue.

Hope it helped!

Best regards,
Mithun.

I can no longer use the mic that came with my Xbox 360 wired controller on my Windows 10 PC after I upgraded to the Creators Update a few days ago. In the Device Manager it is listed as 'Unknown device' and if I try to 'Upgrade Drivers' then I get this error message: "XBOX 360 Headset Device. An error occurred during the installation of the device. The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. Contact your hardware vendor". Anyone have any idea how I can get it working again? I can't find the driver for this thing anywhere! I used it for Cortana searches as well as communication in Overwatch.

hi,I installed a new hd on my dell latitude e5420 laptop today and installed a fresh copy of win 7 pro 64.
I got all my windows updates and then began instaling drivers from the dell site.
but i have two messages : driver not installed on universal serial bus(usb)controller and
driver not installed on unknown device.
the chipset driver has been installed and I can't figure out how to find and install these two drivers.
Any help appreciated.

Answer:missing universal serial bus driver and unknown device

You missed one, download them all again and go one by one.

If you're able to extract the actual Driver files directly then just naviate to it from the Device Manager and update.

Things like these are tricky at times and require lots of manual work. Create one folder with all the drivers and start opening them one by one. Then move them over to another fold once you're finishied.

I like to download them and name them what they actually are. Makes it easier to track.

Just bought a Satellite M50D-A-10L and after 1 week, the HDD failed. Of course, I had to replace it on my expenses, because warranty would do so in about 2 weeks, which was too long to wait for me.
Anyway, I've lost also the preinstalled Windows 8.1 but that's not a tragedy, because I reinstalled it and everything is working fine.
The problem I have I that one of the drivers is unrecognized by "Device Manager". The device is named "Device ACPI". Any idea what missing driver is all about?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hello, For no reason that I know of, the bluetooth facility on my little S10e has stopped working. I noticed a couple of times when shutting down I got a "BTstackserver" not responding message. I use the laptop to regularly download from a bluetooth enabled device. today, when I go to connect, I am told 'bluetooth device not found'.'Verify that your bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on'. The hardware manual shows the LED config and this is correct, If I press 'Fn' and 'F5' keys, I get the menu to turn on and off both the wireless and Bluetooth. I can enable and disable both wireless and Bluetooth with this menu option BUT when I enable bluetooth, I get the message 'One of the USB devices attached to the system has malfunctioned or is not recognised'. I have removed the installed Bluetooth software and re-installed using both bluetooth install files published on my S10e drivers list on lenovo. Neither one works. I know that you need to install from C:\DRIVERS dir once the installer has finished unpacking. I have tried various other obvious things but with no success. I also enabled 'Bluetooth co-operation' in the wireless lan settings. All I can do now is get at the Bluetooth device under the keyboard cover and have a look at that? Anyone got any suggestions before I get the screwdriver out? (The device is out of warranty).

Dear All,

I have a problem with internal HUB usb, even if the installation is OK with windows XP generic drivers when I plug an USB devise, I have the message: Unknow device.

Can you give a link to find the good drivers I have to use in my computer?
It's very difficult to use a computer without any USB equipment?

Thank you and I hope you have any solution for me.

Best regards.

Answer:Satellite L30-SL33 : Unknown device after pluging external device to USB

There are no USB drivers for any Windows operating system.
Fact is that USB driver are a part of the Windows system and you will not find any 3rd party drivers for a USB port.

In your case I would recommend updating the BIOS and to update the Win XP to the latest state. All XP patches and updates should be installed!!!

Hey,

In my opinion this device has something to do with chipset and therefore you have to install the Intel chipset driver. You can download all drivers on official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Check also the exact vendor and device ID in device manager to identify this device. The PCI database website can help you to do this:

Usually the notebook is delivered the Toshiba image and there should be unknown devices in the device manager?

In the forum some guys have placed the link to the very useful Toshiba document.
It described how to identify the unknown devices.

Maybe it will help you to find out what device it is.

Hi everybody.

I just bought myself a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 yesterday. After installing the card and the required drivers everything works like a charm. However, every time I start up my PC I get a message saying that a new device has been found on my system. On checking Device Manager I found an "Unknown device" entry under "Other devices".

I'm attaching a screenshot of Device Manager.

Are there any drivers I'm missing? It only happened after removing my old card (after uninstalling all its drivers) and installing the Radeon.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Unknown Device In Device Manager After Installing Radeon HD 4890

I have a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 (I also have a Gigabyte 4890 and XFX 4890 in two other PCs). I think you need to install the latest ATI Catalyst Suite. You may have installed the driver only package. Anyway, I think it has to do with the HDMI capabilities of the card. High def sound is built into the card (the HD part of the card name) and the HD sound driver is part of the Catalyst Suite. When you use an HDMI cable to an appropriate display, HD sound is also transmitted through the same cable from the Radeon graphics card.

Of course, be sure to install .NET Framework 2.0 as it is required before you can install the full Catalyst Suite. The HD sound driver won't install without it. At least I had trouble before I installed .NET 3.5. I went to Windows Update and installed .NET Framework 3.5. 2.0 is included in that update and 2.0 wasn't available separately.

Hello there!

I would be very grateful for any help/hints if somebody has an idea what to do....

My gf has the above mentioned laptop (w/o preinstalled OS) and we can not get the display adapter to work properly - situation is as follows

1) mobile intel 4 series express chipset family and an unknown device with a question mark in device manager
2) both are on the same PCI BUS 0, device 2?
3) intel is not working because it has no free resources (should I delete the unknown device?) to work with
4) HW ID for the unknown device is pci ven_8086&dev_2A43 and for intel is pci ven_8086&dev_2A42 (so basically the same, right?)
5) last, but not least, if I go to Desktop-personalize-advanced (first of all no 1280*800 resolution) i see under adapter type: . Exactly, nothing... under properties, this appears: non plug and play device, Super VGA and under driver, I see just the status and option to Stop, Disable, Automatic, Demand.... the device on startup... .If i disable it, the display just does not light up when the laptop is turned on....
Any ideas? I am going insaneeeeee......

p.s. maybe SP1 that I am installing now will help?!

Answer:Satellite L300 PSLBGE - Unknown device in device manager

Hi

Wait a moment: I have checked Vendor ID and Device ID on www.pcidatabase.com and this device is the Intel graphic card. So I think this is the reason why you can?t change the screen resolution.

I assume that you have forgotten to install the display driver. Check the Toshiba website because there you can download the driver:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

After this you shouldn?t have any exclamation marks anymore.

You can install SP1 for Vista but this will not solve the problem with the missing display driver. But you should install it because it contains a lot of security updates they are important. Furthermore I would recommend to install SP2 for Vista.

Bye

Hav you already checked the vendor and device ID in device manager? Check this please and on this website http://www.pcidatabase.com/ you can enter these ID?s and then you can see what device it is.

Furthermore the drivers can be downloaded from Toshiba directly:

I have unknown device in device manager

It says unknown device on on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System

(oh and i also didn't install modem drivers since i don't need the modem anyway)

Answer:Satellie A300-1EC PSAG0E: unknown device in device manager

What OS have you installed?
Windows XP?

If yes, check if your Windows XP is up to date (install MS patches and hotfixes)
Also install all available drivers from the Toshiba driver page like:
Chip Set Utility, Storage Manager, etc? and if there is an newer BIOS version, then update it.

I'm using the W540 with an ultradock and external monitors. After upgrading my W540 to win8.1 64 bit, device manager is showing an unknown device. I'm not quite sure what it is, but almost everything seems to be working fine and Lenovo solution center isn't finding any driver updates. I did notice that the solution center hardware scan did not test the video card memory and listed that test as N/A. Video and monitors seem to be working fine though and both nvidia and intel graphics show up in device manager. Device manager lists the device in question as follows:Device instance path: ROOT\SYSTEM\0001Hardware Ids: root\iwdbusDevice stack: \Driver\PnPManager

Hello,
I recently put together a new computer, and in the process of of installing the USB 3.0 connector from the front of my GX500 case, I either bent numerous pins on the motherboard USB 3.0 header or the motherboard shipped that way and I inadvertently made matters worse. Anyway, that header on the motherboard is without a doubt unusable.
Since I don't really need the USB 3.0 functionality, I bought a USB 3.0 -> 2.0 adapter cable, connected one end to the connector on the front of the case and the other end into the USB 2.0/1.1 header on the motherboard. Unfortunately, when Windows 7 boots and I plug a device into the front ports of the case, Windows detects the front USB ports as "Unknown Device" within Device Manager yet says the driver is successfully installed. I've already downloaded the most current Intel chipset drivers for my motherboard, deleted and reinstalled all USB drivers, and all rear USB connections are working perfectly fine - it's just the two front ports that are connected from the case to the USB 2.0/1.1 ports via the adapter cable.  I've tried both USB 2.0/1.1 headers on the motherboard, and I've tried plugging in several devices to the front USB ports, and this problem still persists.
I've ensured the connection inside the case is solid, yet I cannot get Windows to recognize the front USB ports.  However, I have confirmed that power is being sent to the front ports because it charges my phone when I connect it to the front USB ports via m... Read more

How do i figure out what driver or even component windows wants software for when in the device manager under other devices it lists an unknown device and windows update cannot find anything.

Oh and is it appropriate for me to use this topic to ask another question regarding explorer.exe as while i am inside a folder i delete (by choosing delete from the context menu in the tree view) while inside that folder on this particular laptop PC explorer. always crashes, collect information, sends it and restarts explorer. I have Windows 7 Ultimate. Since very recently an unknown device keeps popping up in the device manager every time I start Win. I paired Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse to my Windows 7 Professional x64 HP ZBook 14 which is connected to my company's corporate domain. Everything worked beautifully until they had to re-image my PC to resolve a disk encryption issue. That issue is resolved, but I have had bad luck getting my keyboard and mouse to pair and remain connected ever since. However, that's not even the problem now. After troubleshooting my Bluetooth issues by installing different driver versions, pairing and un-pairing my keyboard and mouse, changing settings in Bluetooth Support Service and more, I now have two Bluetooth Peripheral devices that always appear in Device Manager. I believe these are remnants of previously paired devices, but I can not get rid of them no matter what I try. These devices do not show up in Devices and Printers, they become Bluetooth Low Energy HID Devices when I install the computer manufacturer's drivers... As I typed this I thought of installing the Intel Bluetooth drivers I had previously installed to see what would happen... Ok that made things worse. Now there are three random Bluetooth Low Energy HID Devices and none of them are actual devices that are paired to the PC. And pairing the devices does not help. If I could, I would just delete the registry keys but I can't (remember, corporate domain PC). Any help from you brilliant people would be great. Thank you!

I have an SL500 with the same problem.  It first occurred when I did a factory re-install and turned Bluetooth wireless on.  Everything appears to work with the Bluetooth device driver talking to my cell phone.  I tried to fix it by uninstalling the Bluetooth devices that were flagged as not configured correctly but the Device  (Bluetooth Peripheral Device, under Other Devices) with the error message came back on the next re-boot.  The error message is:- This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

Hello!

So I did some searching for a way to fix this problem but I believe that my problem is different than the Bluetooth Peripheral Device problem that most people have.

I am NOT trying to connect a cell phone to my laptop. I am not trying to connect anything I don't think (unless my bluetooth mouse counts?).

I have no idea what a Bluetooth Peripheral Device is. I took some screenshots of the messages I receive every time a wake my computer up or turn it on. (1st, smaller picture)

It tries to update a driver but always fails and gives me this. (2nd, larger picture)

The suggestion my laptop gives me is this

There may be an easy solution to this, but I feel really lost right now.

I have a Toshiba P875-S7200 laptop. I put an Intel 240GB SSD in it, put an untouched Windows 7 x64 on it (using X17-58997.ISO), and activated it with my own COA key.
I got all the missing drivers installed except for one. Using the VEN and DEV #'s from the Hardware ID and going to sites like pcidatabase.com, etc, I learned what the (vaguely labeled) mystery hardware was, then got the official drivers from toshiba.com.
Problem is, this last one labeled Unknown device, has an unusual Hardware ID that looks like this:
ACPI\TOS620A
*TOS620A.
I'm reluctant to install any driver software to have it find out but I was wondering about the drivers from DriverPacks.net. The page I'd be getting them from is here. Not knowing which driver I need, I wanted to get all of them, put on a DVD, then point the Device Manager to the disc to hopefully install it.
Is it safe to use the drivers from this site? If I get them and scan them with MBAM, SAS, and Avast, as long as they're clean, are they okay to use? I'm very leary of these things and could use some expert insight here.
If I shouldn't use these drivers, then what should I do about this mystery driver?
Thank you.

Answer:ACPI\TOS620A (Unknown device) missing driver help needed.

Hi Lee,

The DriverPacks.net packages are safe to use but I'm not sure they include what you need...

ACPI\TOS620A is related to software, go to the Toshiba website and type your serial number then on the list of drivers and software look for the HDD Protection Utility install and restart the computer.

Greetings folks

I have a problem that bugs me for years, I never intentionally solved it, sometimes those errors disappears and all USB ports work fine, sometimes they do not. So anyone can help me please, it would be great.

Some of my ports do not work all the time, I cannot identify a specific moment. Inside the Device Manager, Universal Serial Bus controllers, I get 1, 2 or more "Unknown USB Device ( Device Descriptior Request Failed )", sometimes more sometimes less.

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770
Motherboard: AsROCK H77 Pro4/MVP
Windows 10 all available updates downloaded and installed as of today, and everyday. The problem appeared on Win 8 or 7, not sure when. So it's not necessarily Windows 10 specific. I ported it to 10.
Here is what they look like:
http://prntscr.com/d6rm6k

Bios is up to date. Chipset drivers updated, various solution tried from googling, I even managed to make all USB ports stop working testing some of these solutions, I had to restore windows from a ghost image I had.

It's like these USB ports remain suspended sometimes.

Any advice on what to try? The most annoying part is that from the frontal USB ports some stop working randomly too.

Thank you

EDIT: The problem is the motherboard. The computer was checked at a computer service, and it seems the time has come for it to be buried.
