Battery Indicator keeps showing 0% charging.

Question: Battery Indicator keeps showing 0% charging.

I just did a clean install of Windows 8 Pro on my 3 years old Asus Laptop.

Everything seems to be working fine, except for the battery indicator and some Asus Fn keys..

The battery cannot be charged, it keeps showing 0% charging even after a few hours.

I tried disabling and re-enabling the Microsoft ACPI-compliant battery driver, but to no avail.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks =)

Preferred Solution: Battery Indicator keeps showing 0% charging.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am using a G500s laptop and  it was having the following issues *laptop was not charging * both battery and power indicator keeps on blinking when the laptop is connected to power. Even when the laptop is switched off and when it is connected to a charger the power and power indicators are blinking. I gave my laptop for repair and they informed that they had replaced the motherboard and the laptop was working fine for 2 months. Again the same issue is happening. Please advise me what can be the issue?

Hello All, I'll try to keep it brief. I recently purchased a B560 system and noticed the Battery Indicator (located on the left side palmrest) is flashing orange constantly. In addition to this, the Windows Battery Icon (on the system tray) is indicating that the battery is not charging at all. I've done some basic troubleshooting: Rebooting the system. Removed the battery, reseated it. Unplugged the system from the power connector etc. and the system still indicates the battery isn't charging. More details:The system was manufactured March 03, 2011 and purchased new from on Bestbuy May, 2011.Windows 7 64bit, recently upgraded to SP1, no other issues to report

Hi everyone, Just received my T450s. Installed the rear battery, then plugged in the power.  On my old T510 I have an indicator showing me when I have power hooked up, and indicates the charging status of my battery.  I don't see anywhere on the T450s chassis that indicates the status of the battery charge. The only thing I will see is the dot on the "i" on the top cover, flash when I connect power.  Surpised there isn't a status indicator. Peter

Answer:Just got my T450s - no battery charging indicator?

No, there is no charging indicator on the T450s. By popular demand, Lenovo added one back to the T460s.

I replaced the battery with a new Duracell battery yesterday.  I need to charge at least 4 hours first then discharge it.  When charging the light is usually amber, but after about 1 hour into the charge it begins blinking and the color changes to white.  This is the second battery.  It did almost the same thing with the other one, but the charging indicator also read incorrectly.  What can I do to correct this? Thanks

Just bought this model a month ago. At first, I thought there isn't any LED Indicator in this model for charging/ HDD activity modulation but later when I saw the guide, I noticed an indicator just below the touchpad. But, the catch is that it isn't glowing at all. Even while charging, I tried the hotkey combination (Fn + H) to toggle that light but to no avail. Any idea as to how to activate this light?

I just purchased a new battery for my ThinkPad laptop. Since IBM is no longer producing ThinkPads, I had to buy a 3rd party replacement. I found a 6600MAh battery that was supposed to be compatible with my laptop. However, when I insert it, the laptop shows "Error" on the battery screen. The battery indicator on the laptop blinks, then goes steady (which means charging) but about 5 to 10 seconds later, starts blinking (I looked in the A21p guide, and it didn't mention blinking yellow when plugged in, so I'm assuming it's an error code). The battery works, because when I unplug the computer, it stays powered on, despite Windows reporting 0% capacity and IBM's utility saying Battery Error.

If it works...why won't my computer charge it!?! If it needs recalibrated, how might I do this (should I drain it until it runs dead and then try?). If it doesn't fix soon I'll try to get a replacement.

Answer:Battery not showing up or charging

I ran it down completely, and then the laptop charges it, but it only charges it to like 5 minutes worth of power and then goes back to showing errors. Windows can't detect the battery power level or anything, but it knows there's a battery.

Hi

Welcome to community.

I understand your concerned issue,in order to get the recovery from the respective issue you need to re-install the Lenovo Energy Management software, afterwards please perform the Gauge Reset, to do so, undergo the mentioned steps:

1. Open Lenovo Energy Management.
2. Under Battery Health, Click on Start for Battery Gauge Reset.
3. That should refresh the gauge and let the system finish through the cycle.

Performing the Gauge Reset will take more time, so please do not close the laptop by that  time.

Regards,
Sameer

Hi anyone getting this? Any way to resolve?

Thanks

Answer:HP G60 120US battery showing plugged in 0% not charging

There are a few steps that need to be done to troubleshoot this.

Firstly, does your laptop run fine on battery power? Have you charged it long enough as usual and let it run on the battery? And if so, does it last as long as it should?

If it doesn't run long on battery power after charging it for a while, this may mean your battery is faulty and needs replacing.

Secondly, if your battery does work fine, if maybe a software glitch. Go the Device Manger, (Start key and X then click on Device Manger, or type it in at Start) double click on Battery and right click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and hit Uninstall. Then click on Action, and hit Scan for hardware changes and the driver will reinstall itself.

If this solves it, then it's a software glitch. This is sometimes common, but in all of my experiences with battery related issues and charging, it's ALWAYS been the battery or some type of hardware issue. My gut feeling is that since your laptop is probably four to six years old, you probably do need a new battery.
Solutions to common battery problems
Some additional battery resources.

A tip I'll don off, I always clean the contact fins on the motherboard of the laptop with about 90 percent rubbing alcohol. This cleans the contacts and can help the battery in some cases and prevents weirdness in general.

There were 18 windows upgrades to go through on restart and when the machine was back on again I noticed that the charging symbol was absent from the battery icon and has remained so ever since. On a new laptop lenovo L520 (W7P-64b) the orange battery indicator is blinking while the battary is actually full.Power management says the battery is full showing 96 % in the large green battery icon on the task bar next to the power plug icon..The laptop is connected to AC power. The Windows icon on the taskbar shows a full battery and the power plug.Power management says the battery is charged and in a good condition and only 7 load cycles are counted. (but orange light is blinking) When disconnecting from power, the orange light still blinks, power management still shows a full battery (just removing the power plug icon)The windows icon switches to an empty battery icon. The laptop still works but after a few minutes it shuts down due to lack of power. (Note, not immediately) For other lenovo models I've seen similar issues suggesting old batteries or broken fuses. But when I shut down the computer, unplug power the light keeps blinking for a few seconds and that switches off.  When a restart a l few seconds later every thing is oke: battery full, green steady light etc.So, because a restart does not fix fuses or revives batteries I think it is a new issue. Please suggest what to do other than reboot. tia,Bert

hey bert520,would it possible for you to use your L520 with the battery only until it fully discharges? Once it has fully discharged, charge it back to full and during this point just charge it, do not use it.When it is completed, check if it still happens. Also could you go to http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-77172and download the latest Power Management software and drivers from here and do an update.

Hi everyone! Two days ago I've got a problem with my Lenovo S10-2 IdeaPad. The problem is that battery suddenly stopped working. When I'm trying to start my netbook just on battery nothing happens. No led lights, no fan sound, nothing. When I plug in AC adapter battery led light turns on for a moment on orange, then chanes to white and holds for 6 seconds, then blinks and holds white for other 6 seconds, then again for the third time and then turns off completely. When I press power on button with AC adapter pluged it and net book starts to boot, blinking with the same intervals for 3 times repeats.  My Windows XP shows seeing the battery, it shows 69% but I have suspicion that it isn't charging, cuz 2 days ago it was about 72%. I've googled for similar problems, tried to disable and uninstall Battery ACPI-compatible Microsoft manager. I tried to plug out AC adapter and battery and hold power button for 30 seconds, nothing helps. Any ideas that could help? They would be very much appreciated.

When Battery Status Indicator turns orange (20% battery) the Yoga 13 becomes very slow The trackpad stops working, and the laptop in desktop mode becomes unusable. The volume also is turned down to 0, the volume status window is always present in the top left of the screen and even if I use the keyboard buttons to increase the volume, the laptop immediately reduces the volume again to 0 within about a second. Interestingly using the Windows Metro screen and the touch screen, most of the Windows Apps are okay, but not all touchscreen functions work, for example swiping the screen to get the charms menu does not work. I have tried disabling the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal framework in the BIOS and uninstalling the Intel Dynamic framework drivers but it has made no difference. Any ideas ?In its current state the laptop may as well turn itself off at 20% battery  ThanksKevin

According to user guide Slow Blinking White means : The battery has between 20% and80% charge and is still charging. When the battery reaches 80%charge, the light will stop blinking, but charging will continue until thebattery is fully charged. The first time I charged my g400s, it was 8 hours and the lights are white and still has slow blinks. The 2nd time I charged it, more than 5 hours and still white with slow blinking. When will it actually fully charged ? Will the led turned off by itself when it's fully charged or will it stay white with slow blink?  my 2nd question : I accidently deleted one key recovery partition when installing win7. Will someone direct me to where can I download files to install one key recovery back? Thanks

Answer:G400s Charging Indicator

When you charge your battery, was your laptop still operate? It was a mystery as well as if the laptop does not turn on, the charge will not occur, I have to turn on my laptop, be it idle or working, and it'll charge to full. Hope this info helps. If you previously has created recovery USB / DVD, then you may restore using it but if you have not then you may just lost it. I'm not sure if you can request a recovery disk from Lenovo? But you can give it a try. (Charges may apply)For me I extract the Windows 8 product key then reinstall them using Dell OEM disk (CoreSingleLanguage), it works and I don't need those recovery partition, for I have backup of Applications & Drivers folder that originally came with it.

Hi guys, I have had my x230 thinkpad laptops for two months now. The laptop suddenly just switches itself off without any indication of needing charging, there was no beebs sounded nor a flash or  blink indicating battery low, it just suddenly dies. i.e switched off. The only way of bringing it back up of course is plugging the power lead back in until it's fully charged. I'm currently running Vmware vsphere ESXi and  Citrix Xenserver, the question here is: - Is there a way of setting the battery indicator / button to beep perhaps via BIOS when battery is low ? - shouldn't the battery indicator button i.e. the one by the left show orange or blink orange before die-ing out ? - I understant I'm running some kind of Linux / Cent OS i.e. being vsphere or Citrix Xen would this affect the battery indicator not to show before dieing ? I also have windows 7 professional currently running on another x230 laptop, I will test to see whether the battery indicator button on that one indicate anything before dieing. Any ideas renderd is appreciated.

Answer:x230 Battery indicator button does not work nor indicate battery low before dieing

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Lenovo ThinkPad X230 suddenly turns off without any low battery indication.

Update Power manager and Power management driver to the latest version and check the status of the battery in Power manager.

Try doing a battery reset. It involves charging your battery to 100%, and then discharging it completely to 0%. Once that?s done you charge it back to 100% to complete the calibration.
Please note that battery reset is a time consuming process. So I would suggest you to do it overnight. Change the power plan settings to ensure that system doesn?t enter sleep or hibernate during the reset.
Refer this document to understand how to perform a battery gauge reset.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Mine does the same, thats just how it is in XP. But I believe the Vista power saver shows the remaining time.

I think you will need to download a battery utility from the Internet to display the remaining time.

My Thinkpad W510 Charging Indicator is always on no what whether it is charging or not. Do you have similar problems with W510? I went to an authorized service center, and they dealed with the overheating problem and said they could do nothing about the charging indicator problem. Is it true that the indicator light problem can not be resolved? I am looking forward to your input since the warranty of the W510 is to expire very soon.

When you say "always on", is it green and flashing? Green and always on? Amber flashing?

Hi Dell Community,
I have recently bought a used XPS 13 L322x in excellent condition with Windows 10 64-bit on it. However, power/charging light present in front of the trackpad is not working normally. When the laptop is ON, the light is white and when the laptops is charging, the light is orange. But when the Laptop is fully charged, the light does not change to white but it remains orange as long as the laptop is plugged in. When I put the laptop to sleep, its power indicator does not blink but instead the light turns OFF.
Latest BIOS and Drivers are already installed on the PC, Everything else is working fine. What should I do?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Answer:XPS 13 Power/Charging Indicator Issue

If it's a Dell OEM adapter and correctly recognized (F2 at powerup to check), given that the system is about three years old - if the battery is original to the system, it's likely in need of replacement.

Hello, where can I find the charging indicator on the Thinkpad Yoga? When I'm charging the machine (turned off) I don't see any light or other charging indicator. Is this normal? ThanksRegardsRango

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga Charging Indicator

Hi Rango,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform you that Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga doesn?t have a dedicated indicator for charging status.

The illuminated dots in the ThinkPad logo on the outer lid of your computer and on the palm rest show the system status of your computer:

? Blinks for three times: The computer is initially connected to the power.
? On: The computer is on (in normal mode).
? Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
? Blinks fast: The computer is entering sleep or hibernation mode.
? Blinks slowly: The computer is in sleep mode.

Hope this clarified your query!

Best regards,
Mithun.

My newly purchased Acer E14 (E5-475G-55BD) charging indicator is flashing but I haven't connected the adapter yet. I suspect the battery is weak but Windows 10 is reporting that the battery is 100% charged. My Acer last received Windows updates on Apr 5. and didn't use the computer for 4 days. Why is this happening and is this something I should worry? UPDATE: now battery is charging but percentage is not increasing.

For me, the removal of an external charging indicator on the T440s, compared with earlier models, is a great misfortune waiting to happen.   Can I ask Lenovo to consider- making a new BIOS that flashes the external red LED in a disinctive way when the device is charging- producing an adapter tip, or a whole charger with a tip, that lights when succesfully delivering charge to the computer?

Lenovo SL 510 10mos old. Recently, the battery indicator shows" battery not installed" . Occurs when using either AC power or battery alone. Have removed and replaced battery, but message still the same. Power Manager also indicates battery not present. Operation is OK on battery alone, but I have no idea about state of battery charge, time remaining, etc. Is there a fix for this ? Will the firmware update issued 9-8-2010 resolve the issue? I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen3) Model 20BS touchscreen  running Windows 7 64 bit. The battery is not charging -- it's in a perpetual state of "plugged in not charging"  and even when plugged in, it?s losing appr 1 percent per day (down to 31%). This has happened a few times over the past 3-4 months since I got the machine, but I've managed to find things that "fixed" it (at least temporarily): - Resetting the power gauge worked once - Changing the custom battery charge threshold worked a few times - Plugging in the power cord at different stages of reboot seemed to fix it once (although not sure why / how) Based on previous thread posts, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Power Manager and then tried to run Battery Gauge Reset, but to no avail. And the reset only appears to run for about 30 sec before the system tray icon switches back to normal. Thanks in advance. Karl

So lately I've been having an issue with my laptop.  The charger is plugged in but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it unless I shift the laptop to a certain position.  This seems to have little to do with the position of the AC plug in the DC port at all as it's not the same positions that will actually get the computer to recognize the charger is plugged in. I don't think this has anything to do with the battery itself as removing the battery does not make the connection more consistent.  The computer will still not recognize the AC adapter is plugged in.  I had the same problem with my old laptop, a V570. It will also briefly lose connection and restore it before my display can process it.  I know this by the CPU throttle in the BIOS (which I can't access to turn off because of the version of BIOS used) will randomly slow my computer down and won't restore to full speed when the charger is making connection again. What just happened lately which is making me wonder about this more is that my laptop stopped recognizing the charger as being plugged in in the tray icon but the charger light on my laptop started flashing orange.  The blue power light was also flashing. Sometimes when I restart my computer to reset the CPU throttle, I will get a pop-up message from the Battery Management Software stating, "Adapter has limited support: performance will be affected ..." Full specs available on the purchase page here. &n... Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

Hi, I upgraded my Sony Vaio to Windows 10. Since the upgrade, battery icon showing "Plugged in, Charging" but not actually charging. Always it is in 3% and when unplug the power, system shutdowns.

Answer:Sony Vaio - shows charging, but not charging the battery?

From: Recovery and Troubleshooting Guide
Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
When you intend to run your VAIO computer on battery power, the battery pack may have run out of power. Connect the computer to a power outlet. For details, refer to Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
If you did not previously follow the standard procedure to turn off your VAIO computer, the power controller may be suspended due to a program error.
Do as follow:
- On the models with a built-in battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, push and hold the battery off button for at least three seconds with a thin, straight object (such as a paper clip), and leave the computer for at least
five minutes. Then, plug the AC adapter and turn on the computer once again. For the location of the battery off button, refer to Locating Parts and Controls in the Startup Guide.
- On the models with a removable battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, remove the battery pack, and leave the computer for at least five minutes. Then, reinstall the battery pack and turn on the computer once again.
? If the charge indictor is blinking or the ? power button does not work, a battery error may have occurred or the battery pack may not be detected.

Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help

Answer:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. I figured out that my laptop, when being charged or using the Power Outlet, runs at 100% CPU at times, and slows me down when running and working on some open applications. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I have an X220 Tablet that's about 3 and a half years old -- so unfortunately just out of warranty -- and I'm having battery/charging problems. A few months ago the original 6-cell battery that came with the laptop died: Power Manager reported it as dead and needing replacing. It had had 500-something cycles, so it seemed reasonable. I went ahead and bought a new 6-cell battery from Lenovo, the 67+, and then my system was fine again. But one day a few weeks ago this battery suddenly stopped charging. Power Manager reported that "The battery is in good condition", and it was reported as "Status: Charging", but it was not actually charging and was instead very slowly discharging its way to 0%. Something suspicious is perhaps that PM reported "Current: 0.00 A". I thought it might be the battery, so I got another one, but that has exactly the same issue -- now I have two batteries, each discharged completely and with no way to charge them. Charging doesn't happen regardless of whether the computer is on or off, or whether I'm in Windows (7) or Linux. I checked the AC adapter/charger with a multimeter and it is reporting 20V as it's supposed to, so I guess that's okay. Plus, the laptop runs fine on just the AC adapter, even if it's a little bit slower (which I gather is due to it being 65W rather than 90W). The only slightly unusual thing I can remember from the day charging stopped functioning is that I was using the 'always on' USB port to charge my ... Answer:Battery not charging despite being reported as good and as charging

It is hard for me to be certain without seeing it, and Sweden is a long way from San Francisco. The symptom point to a blown fuse or power transistor (mosfet). Either can cause your problem, and usually require motherboard replacement. If nothing was going on when the problem started, (no power failure, lightning storm, failure of power adapter, tripping over the cord) I would guess mosfet. Some shops can repair fuses, but they require fairly good soldering equipment. I have had much poorer luck fixing mosfets, because usually, more than one chip is bad. You might be able to find a motherboard for a reasonable price. I have one for sale on eBay for under $100, but international shipping is expensive and you might do better locally. Hi guys, I ran into this problem a few days ago where the laptop is plugged in, it says its charging, but the battery % won't go up at all. It started around 16% and each time I unplugged it for whatever reason it would go down but when I would plug it back in it wouldn't charge it back up. So now I'm at 8% and afraid to unplug it again.  I have the Energy Management set to Balanced, Maximum Battery Life, and it's status is "Charging" and "Good". Any help is appreciated, thank you guys.

Answer:Y510P "plugged in, charging" but battery is not charging

hi kanyewest,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. While having the battery and AC adapter plugged-in, boot into the BIOS (by pressing F2) and unplug the AC adapter until the system shuts off (this is to compete the discharge the battery).

2. Once the machine shuts down, remove and reinsert the battery and plugin the AC adapter then let the battery charge for about 2hrs while the machine is off and observe the battery lifght indicator. After 2hrs, power up the machine and observe the battery percentage.
     - Link to picture

If the battery is stucked at 0%, I recommend you contact lenovo and report your findings as the battery may need to be replaced.

Running Windows 7 x64.One of my end users' T410 would say that it was charging, but the battery percentage would never change unless you unplugged it. Then it would get lower, but plugging it in would not recharge the battery. We tried putting her HD in a working T410, but the problem carried over. I ended up giving her a new laptop, but I would like to fix the errant T410 if at all possible. Since the problem carried over with the HD in a working T410, I figured it was a software issue.  Reinstalled Windows. No good.Did a wipe of the HD (everything 0's). Reinstalled Windows. No Good.Booted from Linux liveCD. Charging worked, but once I booted into a fresh copy of Windows, it stopped charging. So it seems that the hardware is capable of charging the battery, but not on a fresh copy of Windows: only Linux. Is there anything else I could try to get it working on Windows? Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Answer:T410 says "battery plugged in, charging" but not actually charging

Hi Hang,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

As you are facing the improper charging of battery , in that case you please need to perform the following steps and check  if the issue gets resolved.

Open Lenovo Energy Management
Click on the bottom gear icon between i and ?.
Under Battery Health, Click on Start for Battery Gauge Reset.
That should refresh the gauge and let the system finish through the cycle.

I hope the above information helps.

Regards,
Shashi

Does the system correctly identify the AC adapter, or does it show "unknown"?  F2 at powerup to check.
Is the battery the original one that arrived with the system?

For some time have received the error message regarding under power smart adaptor with newer replacement HP adaptor matching original.  Battery icon lists % charge & "not charging".  Battery tests good in HP Support Assistant battery check.  Power adaptor will power my older Pavillion laptop but not  the Envy with or without battery installed.  Battery charging LED does not light.  Have tried re-calibration by deleting Microsoft devices in Device Manager.  Envy will operate with and without battery while using Dell power adaptor. Computer repair shop says Smart adaptor produces 0 voltage (even though it powers Pavillion) and I need a new battery (even though diagnostic test indicates good). Help!!!

Hi,
I have a dell xps 12, bought in 2012. Recently the battery stopped charging. The battery shows 0%, so I have to be plugged in to turn the laptop on. When it is on, the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, charging" but after a day it is still 0%.
Since then I bought a new battery. Just fitted it, but now the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, not charging". Furthermore, when I Fn+F3 to show the battery meter, it says "battery charging diabled". There is no option here to turn battery charging on. Nor is there an option to enable battery charging in BIOS.
BIOS does show battery performing normally, so does the battery meter (Fn+F3). BIOS also shows AC adapter as 45W, which is the original adapter.
Any help is appreciated!

I've had my HP Envy laptop for about 3 months, and yesterday I noticed that when it was plugged in it wasn't charging (the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging"). I turned it off overnight, plugged in, and this morning the battery was fully charged. It only seems to not charge when it is turned on. I have tried removing the battery, turning on, deleting the ACPI-compliant control method battery, turning off, and turning back on again (as advised in other forum responses), but with no joy. At first I thought it could either be a battery issue, but the fact it fully charged overnight whilst off would lead me to believe it's not, and is probably a software / settings issue. Any ideas please, I've run out of google search ideas!!

Hi guys,

I have created another desktop and moves windows explorer onto here, but on my initial desktop, there is still an icon relating to windows explorer even though it is not pinned to my taskbar and also a line underneath the icon indicating that this application is open on another desktop. But this sort of defeats the point of having multiple desktops when the exact same icons are shown on each desktop - my understanding was that you do have the ability to create multiple desktops to minimize the amount of applications open on each desktop which will save space and to be better organised with tasks or works in hand, so if there is the same amount of icons on each desktop that is the same as just having 1 desktop for all the applications.

Does anyone know how to remove this icon that is showing an application open in another desktop or is this not possible to achieve? I know this is only the first release of windows 10, but is this possible?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

hello communityi just got my e520 a few days ago.my problem is that the battery indicator LED next to the power-port seems not to be working. according to the lenovo manual, the led should be green when the battery is fully charged while the power supply is plugged in. however, it's green even though the battery is not fully charged. as soon as i connect the notebook to the power supply it turns on green - no matter if the battery is put in or not or low on charge. in other words: i cannot see the charging status when the notebook is turned off. is there a way to fix this? regards, alex

Answer:E 520 - battery indicator LED

Hi, I've got the same "problem". I think the LED is always green to shop up that power is connected. Nothing less, nothing more. It would be great if it shows the status of loading, but on my E520 this isn't the case. Best, Thomas

Question: Battery indicator

Hi, Nice to have such board and I find it very useful. I'm just starting with my new Y530 and one question came to my mind. During charging the battery and while the computer is off there is this LED that tells you the battery is charging but do I actually get any information i.e.. is it 50% charged, 75% or maybe already fully charged ? I didn't notice anything like that, only this blue LED at the from which is always blue... Cu!Lukas

Answer:Battery indicator

Does really no one knows about the charging indicator in Y530 ?

Hi all.I bought T61 about week ago. I have made 3 full recharge cycles, and my 9cell battery's indicator shows 98%. It can't charge till 100%. I have found battery recall problem (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=BATT-LENOVO), but it's not true for my one.So I have questions:1. Could it be fix somehow? Maybe some driver's settings?2. As I undestand in such case my battery is always charging. Is it true? If so it could be damaged shortly...?

Answer:Problem with battery Indicator

IS there an Fn key that shows you remaining battery? I have an Old Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop where the Battery icon would simply vanish.

With Laptops, there is something like Dell Quickset which assigns some On Screen Graphics to the Fn Keys, so you can see what you are doing, like Volume Level, Remaining Battery, Brightness, etc.

Acer should have a similar program- It usually replaces the "Mobility Center" - See if you can get the Mobility Center to show up as a taskbar tray icon. If your battery keeps on vanishing, maybe you can re-install the Acer version of Quickset, is there a folder on the main hard drive with the Drivers and Utilities stored? If not, you should be able to download the Utility from the Acer website that has the drivers and utilities for your laptop.

I have a question about the battery indicator lights IdeaPad Y510.....located at the bottom of the screen there are 5 little lights and also at the bottom left corner of the laptop there is one light.  Usually the 5 lights won't be on and the one light at the bottom right will be blue.  Now the 5 lights and the other light are a pink/red color.  My battery meter in the notification area says charging 99% available. What do the color of those lights mean?  Does it just mean that my battery is charging and then when it reaches 100%, the 5 lights will go off and the other one will turn blue? Thanks for any helps.Sandi

Answer:? about the battery indicator lights

Dear Friends, When you purchase your laptop, have a operation manual, please check at the indicator on your LED on your manual

when i put my battery in, the indicator flashes blue; a few minutes later, it flashes red.what the heck does that mean? ps- i haev a lenovo s10 if that changes anythingMessage Edited by jehan60188 on 05-24-2009 05:59 AM

Answer:battery indicator, flashing red?

Hi, 3 LEDs..are on the front side ...form left to right.... Indicator LED Left: is Power Normal Blue LED Center is Battery status:Blue : The battery is charged to 95% or more of its capacity.Blinking blue : The battery is being trickle-chargedOrange : The battery is being normally charged.Blinking orange: The computer is operating on battery power, and the battery is charged to no more then 8% of capacity. RED is not documented... didnt hear that it could flashes in red... But could be a contact fault ... or have had problems at charging... sometimes i heard that it flashes orange between failure charging... and charges very slow...that could be raised the time of charging to 8-12h... and then it flashes blue and orange but never red.... Normal time for charginga 6 cell is fully charged in 2:40-2:50h ...and i dont have the 3 cell ...but must be quiet equal in 1:20h - 90 minutes for the 3 cell batt...  Right LED is wireless status... If that happens more than one time, contact you local lenovo service for exchange the battery.. sincerely KalvinKleinMessage Edited by KalvinKlein on 05-24-2009 03:35 PM

For some reason starting a couple of years ago the battery indicator was removed from where it should be, i.e. facing the user, and put where it shouldn't, i.e. on the back of the screen where nobody sees it. This has caused a ton of annoyance for me, with a lot of time and sometimes even work lost as the computer suddenly dies without any warning. Most times it will hibernate successfully but sometimes hibernation fails. The best resolution would obviously be to have battery indicators on both sides of the screen, but if there can only be one then it should definitely be facing the user. Please fix this.

Answer:Battery indicator location

As I understand there is no battery meter software by which you can check the battery detail.

There is a software Power Manager which manages the battery software.

Kindly install it to resolve your issue.

Best Regards,
Tanuj

Hi,

I recently reinstall xp on my NB100, can someone please tell me which program in the support section allows me to see the remaining battery power?

Thanks

Answer:NB100 battery indicator

hi,
search for *toshiba power saver* - this shows you infos about energy and battery.
you can also use win energy options - provides only basic information...
look at the drivers download section at http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
and make sure you choose the right modell.
install the "power saver", dont forget to install the "common modules".
this should work for you.

Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem: When my power cord is plugged in, I'm getting a repetitive "battery/AC mode" indication flashing on/off the screen. If I run on battery alone, this doesn't happen. Any suggestions to stop this? The netbook is an ASUS EEE PC 1201 HAB

Answer:battery indicator blinks

If its blinking yellow it means its trying to charge. if it hasnt charged in 12 hours..might be something wrong with your battery. Open battery information and see what the status is.

Hi everyone This I'm sure is a stupid question with hopefully a simple answer. I've recently had my T42 wiped clean and debugged and no longer have my battery indicator showing at the bottom of the screen. Access IBM has also disappeared. I guess this is because I've lost the original programmes that enabled this to show.I've been onto the Lenovo downloads site and downloaded latest toolbox programme and a power management programme, but that hasn't helped. Any body no the solution to this?  Any help gratefully accepted. Cheers

Answer:Battery percentage indicator

rustyv, welcome to the forum, have you tried using System Update to get your T42 "up to date"? MS's .NET Framework 2.0 will be required, this is explained on the site. You can also find almost everything you need on this site.  My guess is that you need the Battery Maximiser and the Access Help drivers, don't forget to also install the Hotkey Features driver. Hope this helps
