Turning the PC by keyboard

Question: Turning the PC by keyboard

Hello guys,

I have ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. H81-PLUS mobo in my desktop PC. I looked the menus of the BIOS but didn't find some option for turning the system on by pressing a key on keyboard. Has my mobo such an option? If yes, which menu please?

Preferred Solution: Turning the PC by keyboard

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Turning the PC by keyboard

sometimes my laptop keyboard and the touchpad just turn off. I can't use any key an I dont even see the cursor on the display. Ii need to restart my laptop and then everything works fine. I've already downloaded a driver from the manufacturer's site. Is this maybe a hardware problem?

I have an HP Pavilion 17 e130ez notebook.

Answer:My keyboard keeps turning off. How can I fix it?

You may try to hard reset your laptop by removing the battery off and also disconnecting the AC power adapter/charger. Then press and hold the power button for about 30 - 60 seconds, after you release it, reconnect the power and turn your laptop ON and find out if you're still having those issues.

Answer:Keyboard and Mouse not turning off.

As in the USB laser on the mouse and the num of function light ups on the keyboard?

The keyboard function lights should stay on, at least with mine they do.

As for the mouse, look for a bios flash or try different USB ports.

We have an HP Envyx2 (13.3") Notebook/tablet with a detachable blue-tooth enabled keyboard.  We prefer to use it with USB attached mouse.  Is there any way to defeat the keyboard's integrated mousepad?  It is way too sensitive and will arbitrarily move the mouse to random spots on the screen during typing. Also - if there is no way to turn off the mousepad, can someone recommend a good blue-tooth keyboard without a mousepad?

I have just bought a latitute E5550 which i'm generally happy with apart from the keyboard backlight keeps turning itself off which is really annoying
I can't see any way to stop this anywhere, i could live with it if it wasnt such a short time but it's like 5 seconds
Found a setting in the bios which stops it from happening when it's plugged in but doesn't seem to be any option for when it's running on battery
anybody know how to sort this out ?
Its very annoying having to keep moving the mouse or something to actually see the keyboard all the time

Hello!Just purchased this refurbished notebook.  Does this have a backlit keyboard? I've tried the f5 key, which does not light up the keyboard. The f12 key does not light up the keyboard. I've also tried the function button and hitting the space bar. Does not light up the keyboard.  I do not see a "keyboard" key, as shown on the HP site.  Can anyone help me? I'd imagine that this computer does have a backlit keyboard! Thank you!

Please help me!!!! I love my new-ish HP Pavilion g6, except for one extremely irritating thing. There seem to be keyboard "shortcuts" that I don't know how to turn off. Often (and I mean at least once or twice per day), I'll be entering text either into a web page or a Word document, happily, obliviously typing away... when all of a sudden, I'll look up at my screen and I have apparently yet again hit some myterious and magical combination of keys, and I'm either on a new website or I'm in the address bar of Chrome or Firefox, and there is the rest of the sentence I was just typing. I have lost a ton of online data entry this way, and it throws me off when I'm writing in Word (I'm a researcher and writer, so it's important that I am able to keep my concentration). I read somewhere that there are Windows shortcuts, and maybe that's the problem and it's not the laptop. I have Windows 7 now, and with my last laptop, a Compaq, I had Vista. And I never ever, not one time, had a problem even close to resembling this. It's gotten so bad that I've considered getting an entirely new laptop, because I'm tired of losing my posts and having my work interrupted! This morning I lost a somewhat important message to someone I was writing on FB, and I felt like throwing the computer at the wall. And please don't tell me I should write FB messages in Word first, then cut and paste them. I don't want to have to do that - I want my laptop to stop taking me places I don't want to go!!! ... As you said it opens your browser (Chrome/Firefox) you must be accidentally hitting Action Keys on the Notebook. To disable this kindly refer below link for more info. Note:On Old Notebooks, FN key is required for action keys to work by default and on newer models its vice-versa

Have had this problem for a month. thought I had cured it by uninstalling a particular program  and fixed it for 4 weeks but it happened again today.   Is there a known cause for this problem.  It requires turning off the computer and restarting to fix it.  When it was going badly it was happening every 10 minutes but so far only once today. Maybe someone knows.  is it possible that some programs are only meant for 64 bit.  I use a 32 bit vista os.

Answer:Keyboard locking up / turning off

There's not much to go on here. But anyways, here's some possible solutions (I have no idea what your problem is, saying your keyboard turns off occasionally can have hundreds of causes) Order : most likely - least likely.Keyboard Driver error (reinstall your drivers for keyboard If you're using razer then install razer synapse).USB driver error (reinstall USB drivers for your motherboard)Hardware failure (check the wire and make sure it's intact)OS error (Operating system mistakenly stopping keyboard/human interface service).Antivirus error ( Same as OS error except with antivirus)If you want a more in depth answer then I'll need your keyboard model, motherboard model, and version of your keyboard drivers. As to your other question. yes there are some programs that are meant for 64 bit, but I doubt if they'd cause your keyboard to stop working. 64 bit programs will not run on 32 bit operating systems. Also try another keyboard and let me know if it's happening with that one too if you have a spare keyboard.

My lenovo yoga 2 pro laptop used to work perfectly. I have installed an update from Norton anti virus and shut it down. After that it doesn't turn on but the keyboard lights are blinking. I have tried to reset it by press and holding the start button for 30 seconds and reset button for 30 seconds but none of them did work. If someone had a similar experience please let me know if there is any easy fix for this issue before I take it to the service center.

Hi! I got this laptop december 2014, it worked nice until one day it decided not to turn on, instead of this, the laptop shows sleep-mode behaviour (blinking keyboard, black screen) but without waking up. It initiates randomly, key-combination doesn't work, nor pushing windows key. Additionally, if I turn off by pressing the power button and try to turn on again, it keeps to be in sleeping mode. If is turned off again and the one key recovery is pushed, nothing happens, same sleep-mode reaction. I contacted technnical assistance in Spain, they were really kind and quick taking the call. As suggested I restored the system to fabric condicions (when I got my laptop turned on and through the windows 8.1 menu restoring to initial configuration option). It seemed to solve the problem but just for few re-starts. After using the computer about 10 times (I mean, turning off and turning on the laptop), the same problem appeared. I called again technnical assistance, today they are picking up my laptop at home because I'm still warranty covered, I hope to get my 1600? laptop working well again soon. Just wanted to share this situation with other lenovo users who can be in the same situation. In my case, I'm not using this laptop as a primary computer, that's maybe why it took so long to detect/appear this problem. I already tested updating bios, drivers, energy configuration... I am thinking of getting a wireless keyboard and mouse, probably a Logitech, and wonder if, when I power off the computer, the mouse and keyboard will also turn off? It seems like a setting in Power Setting should offer the choice to do so.

Thank you.

Answer:Turning off a wireless keyboard and mouse

I have a Logitech MK 250 Wireless desktop. (KB & Mouse) The USB transmitter is quite small and sits neatly in the rear of the case. It uses AA batteries in both devices, which do last quite a while. They can be switched off by small switches under each device, although I don't bother unless I am not using the PC for some time.

The only problem I can see is if you are a hard core Gamer (I am not, just a dabbler) as they do tend to be slower for gamers (or so my grandsons tell me). But for most uses, I am very pleased with the kit, especially since I installed a TV Card in the PC. There are other manufacturers, but I have always been happy with Logitech stuff, it is well made. Check out this one:

Logitech UK - Wireless Combo MK260

?24.99, the successor to mine. There are others, in fact (EDIT) I read that there are more expensive ones there which would suit a Gamer. Hope this helps!

FURTHER EDIT: The MK 260 is available from Amazon @ ?17:98.

I have a recurring issue. I'll be listening to music or a Youtube video or whatever, when suddenly my master sound level will slide to zero. I can't override manually. If I try to override using the mixer on the screen, or the hardward "+" sound button, there is a fight between my effort and whatever is turning the sound down. So the sound goes up and is adjusted down right away, as long as I hold the button on the laptop or on the screen the sounds zigs and zags up and down. If stop pushing the button, the sound goes to zero. After about a minute, the problem goes away and the sound may be adjusted up again. Also, apparently, if I whack my keyboard on the desk, I'm able to adjust the sound.

Another, related issue is that when I'm typing, the sound level bars (a white bar on a big black background in the lower middle of the screen, courtesy of Lenovo, and the narrower Windows green bar to the lower right) pop up periodically (say every few minutes) and every time they do, the sound level goes down by one increment. This latter problem got me thinking, as it happens only when I'm typing. Could it be my keyboard?

I tried the volume key on the Microsoft Natural Wireless keyboard, and sure enough, pushing either "+" or "-" set off the "sound to zero" problem. Is this a known issue with MS keyboards, or with the Mouse and Keyboard Center software (or earlier drivers for mouse and keyboard)? Or do I have a weirdly broken keyboa... Read more

Answer:Microsoft Keyboard turning my sound down?

Sounds to me like a defective keyboard in the Laptop. Can you disable the built in keyboard, in the Device Manager when the external keyboard is connected? This is one possible way to try and isolate whether the problem is the keyboard or something else.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop.  I can turn it on and get online okay but after 15 to 30 minutes I'm unable to type anything, either as a a web address, on a webpage or even in a word document.  If I'm on Internet explorer the system beeps for every keystroke made but nothing is entered.  If I hit the "f" key the File menu dropsdown, the "a" key the Favourites menu dropsdown, the "h" key the Help menu etc.  I can continue to navigate online but only using the mouse, not the keyboard.  I've used Firefox and the same issue occurs. If I reboot this fixes the issue for another 15 to 30 minutes and the cycle continues. Another issue is that a lot of icons won't open by double clicking.  I have to right click and open.  I've checked the double click speed in my mouse setting and they're fine. And sometimes when I click on dropdown menus, eg File, Favourites, start the drop down box only appears for a micro second then disappears.I use the Windows firewall and AVG free anti virus. Two days ago I ran Dell PC Restore by Symantec.  This reverts the system to it's factories settings.  After running Dell PC Restore I uninstalled McAfee security suite (preinstalled but out of date) and immediately downloaded AVG anti virus.  It hasn't corrected the issue. Any help please?

this is a very strange error I've recently encountered.

I'm using win xp pro sp2

have a logitech g15 on a neo 3 motherboard

Just randomly all of a sudden (started today) my system stops detecting the keyboard and then readds it to the system.

I've got a 550 watt powersupply so I doubt its a power issue (its a nice enermax)

so I figured maybe it was a weird glitch with the os.

the only thing I changed today was adding wolfenstein enemy territory

anyways, it's really odd and I wondered if anyone had any idea where I'd look to see where a problem might lie.

I checked the system to see if there were any alerts as to a service dying or some such and I haven't found anything to indicate a problem.

anything you could think of would be appreciated, otherwise I'm going to have to do a full reinstall which will be a significant pain in the butt.

hope some of the geniuses here could give me a hand and let me know what I'm missing.

Answer:strange problem keyboard turning off?

Reinstall USB (possibly chipset) drivers if it is USB keyboard. Try using a P/S2 board for a while and see if the problem stops.

Let me try to explain this; with the yoga screen rotated so the screen is 90 degrees to the body but the keyboard facing down (essentially the mirror to a normal laptop), the keyboard/touchpad are staying on. I have to rotate it so it is only about 45 degrees from being in full tablet mode before it shuts off. I've owned it for a week and it was at least shutting off in reverse laptop roatation until tonight. This sucks because I can't sit it on my lap without my leggs screwing with the mouse pad. Any ideas?

Answer:Yoga 13, keyboard not turning off until almost fully folded

I'm having the exact same issue.  I have the latest touchpad drivers released a few days ago, as well. Sometimes it seems the keyboard/touchpad disabler function does not work correctly.  When it doesn't work correctly, like above, it will only disable the keyboard/touchpad once within 45 degrees of being in complete tablet mode.

So recently for a few weeks now my mouse and keyboard stop working after I turn my laptop on. Meaning the mouse arrow wont appear on the screen or not move at all and my keyboard keys won't work at all except for the brightness and screen off keys. Usually I resolve this by restarting it but it gets on my nerves because it happens everyday now and sometimes I have to restart the laptop twice or more to get the mouse and keys working again. Also the laptop's touch screen also does not work when this happens. Sure I can touch the screen and it responds but touch typing usually does not work. Heck today this happened when I was on a website. The mouse and keyboard just suddenly stopped working and the touch screen would not let me type.So I was forced to restart it. Please help

Hi there,

I edited the BIOS settings to try and enable my keyboard and mouse and wake my computer from sleep, however now I am having the problem that moving the mouse/using keyboard also turns on my computer when it is powered off.

Is there a way to get my computer to wake, by only click or typing any key (not moving mouse), but at the same time, keyboard and mouse not affecting anything while the PC is turned off (only being able to press the power button on the PC tower to turn it on from shutting it down)?

Here is a photo of my BIOS settings currently. When I have "Resume from S3/S4/S5 by USB Device" enabled, the computer turns on (from being shut down) by moving the mouse/clicking/hitting any key on the keyboard. When it is turned off, the mouse or keyboard don't do anything while the computer is off or asleep.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Mouse movement/keyboard turning on my computer?

No, if you set it in the BIOS, it means that your hardware will act on the keyboard and mouse. Has nothing to do with Windows.

If you only want it to happen in Windows 10 (Sleep/Hibernation), you don't need to activate it in the BIOS. You probably have to look into Device Manager and set the options that it is allowed to wake your PC. (You find this under "Power Management" at "Mice ...." and "Keyboard".)

Hey guys,

I have a quick question ... I'm not sure if this is doable or not, but here is my question anyway...

I followed the following link on how to create a keyboard shortcut that turns off all connected screens to my computer at once Link. This worked just fine, and has been really useful for the past few days, however my problem is as follows:

When I use my keyboard shortcut and turn off my screens (which are two Acer multi-touch screens), any key-press to the keyboard or move to the mouse will bring them back on... Is there ANY WAY to disable that?

I would like my screens to ONLY turn on when I touch them, and NOT when I move the mouse or press the keyboard.

It is annoying for me because when I place anything on my desk that causes the mouse to move both screens go back on. I don't use SLEEP or STANDBY neither do I lock my machine, since my computer is always on.

Any ideas?

I get home and he said the notebook won't turn on anymore. he tells me the screen started looking funny during the update (I'm assuming it may have been mid video update) so he figured restarting would fix now, the screen doesn't turn on, or flicker when I power it on. I also don't see the windows icon near the bottom of the screen light up, but I do hear the hdd spin up and stay on. connecting an external display to the notebook shows nothing in the external screen, I hear no error beeps, and when I dock the tablet to the keyboard and connect power, the led by the power connector turns orange.please help me get working again :'(

Hi folks.

Yesterday night I turned off my computer by pressing the power button and now my mouse and keyboard do not work anymore(in Windows). I wanted to see if it was just the mouse/keyboard itself, but I noticed nothing detects when I connect a USB device. I tried plugging it in every port and it's the same. I thought it was a hardware issue, but now I realize that it is not.

I restarted my computer and tried to get into safe mode; it worked(I was able to go up and down to select which mode I wanted to enter). Once inside safe mode and windows is loaded, the keyboard just freezes. It does not work at all. I then decided to go into bios to see what is up and everything seems right. I even screwed around and messed up my overclock settings.

So now I know my keyboard still works and it's probably a Windows issue. I wanted to see if my mouse would work. I went into Windows Repair(I might have gotten the name wrong) and voila, my mouse worked! I'm not sure if it's a virus or what not, but can someone kindly help me?

Thank you.

ps. I do not have any system restore save points unfortunately.

In the past couple of months of use, the back cover of the screen started to pop off a bit and one of the hinges started cracking mostly from me dropping it and general misuse. Wasn't much of a problem as everything still worked fine until recently.  A couple of days ago, it took a very minor fall, slid off my couch onto carpeted floor. Ever since then, it hasn't worked period. The fans will spin at high speed and the keyboard will remain backlit, but the screen stays black and the indicator lights on the power button don't show anything. Tried unplugging the battery and plugging it back in, nothing changes. Also won't recognize the power cable. So what the hell did I do to it? Is there anything I can do to fix the laptop, or did I just brick it?

Answer:Yoga 2 not turning on or off, but fans are spinning and keyboard is backlit.

UPDATE: Took the hinges off, fiddled around with the wires going to the screen a bit. Didn't see any pinches or tears on them. But now when I plug the battery in, absolutely nothing happens.

Um. I Don't really know what to say about this, as it seems a bit strange here goes

I have a computer desk that has an overhead storage cabinet, and underneath this cabinet is a fluorescent light bar that I can switch on.

It looks like this

These days, everytime I switch this light on (OR switch off) (I use a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard with LED on), the keyboard lights are gone and I hear the sound of a disconnected device in Windows 7. The keyboard is completely disconnected for 5-6 seconds.

Sometimes the mouse too, the pointer wont move, but it is VERY rare. (only once it happened)

Err..maybe it's a power supply issue? I've had my desktop for nearly 2 years without a problem then this started happening around 4 weeks ago.

Behind my desk, are TWO electrical sockets on the wall, the first one is for an extension cable that connects the CPU, monitor, Printer, etc., while the second one is just for that Fluorescent bar.

What's going on?

Please ask me anything you need to help you too, I'll try to answer it the best I can.

Answer:Keyboard Temporarily Switches Off after Turning on Desk Lights? O_O

What I would try first is a surge protector for the PC, monitor and printer. Their should be one anyway in my opinion.

Your keyboard is wired so I don't think it's a RF from the light.

You could also try another light and see if it still happens. A faulty light could cause a surge in current.

Having a qualified person check the wall outlet.

First let me thank you all for the help I've received from past questions. Now on to my problem.
I always turn off my surge protector when I'm done using my computer so there is no power going to anything. So I first turn on my surge protector then the monitor and computer. I have a password for my system along with getting into windows. So I first have to do a system password, then a windows password. The problem is that on first startup try the keyboard will not work. If I push the power button off and on and the computer restarts the keyboard works. But, if I turn off the surger protector and then start the computer again the keyboard does not work. So in order to use the computer I have to restart the computer without turning off the surge protector. I also have tried using a new keyboard (the first one was ps2 and the one I'm using now is usb). Anyone know why this would happen??

I have the following system:
Motherboard = Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2V socket 1156
CPU = Intel IS-760
Video Card = Geforce GTX 670
PSU = Kingwin Mach 1 1000 watt sli ready
OS = Windows 7 64bit

Answer:I need to start my computer twice for keyboard to work without turning off power?

Oh common guys, no one has any idea why this would happen with my keyboard?? Is my motherboard the problem? I find it hard to believe the new keyboards would cause this.
Would any type of virus do this? Say, a key logger??
I've run my Norton's with no problems.
I don't go anywhere where I could pick one up and I'm very careful about emails.

I just replaced my previous 17" Inspirion with a new Model 5767 (17") and the backlit keyboard remains lit at all times, 24/7, even after the screen has gone dark.  I keep the system running 24/7, never going into sleep mode as long as it's plugged in, the same as I have done for all laptops in the past.
The previous Inspiron 17 also has the backlit keyboard, and it works perfectly, going dark shortly after being idle.
I have gone to all the mentioned steps, including the Windows Mobility Center and resetting the idle time setting to all of the different options, but the keyboard remains lit at all times...
I should not have to resort to manually turning the backlight on and off as needed.  and to do so requires I open the Windows Mobility Center, as the noted keyboard shortcuts appear to work ( <Fn>+<F10> )
Any Help Appreciated.  I just spend a week doing a clean install of all my software and files to clean things up from older system to system transfers to eliminate things that were no longer needed and don't want to do that all over again if this system is faulty!!

I have had a levono Twist s230u for a year and a half and lately, I have numerous issues:
- the screen goes into auto-rotate on and off by itself and turns off the touchpad and keyboard. Extremely annoying ! I have to tilt the computer a little in order to get back to auto-rotate off so that the keyboard works - but unfortunately this is not always effective.
- In addition, the USB ports are often not working. Have to restart the computer... but it doesn't always help. (I also have a WD passport external hard drive 2TB (USB3) that stopped to be recognized by the computer, but it works fine on other computers - that 's for another post I guess).
It is really frustrating.
I have windows 8.1, latest BIOS (1.67) and latest power management.
Please help. Thank you in advance

Is there any way to do this? its driving the gives me more mistakes because I just want to type--I don't want to have to jump up to the screen during a word to pick a number, and it also makes typing word/number combinations almost impossible. If I make a mistake and backspace to edit a word, it treats it as a new word. Simply put, I have a very high WPM and can correct myself and while this feature may help a lot of people it's just not for me. When I try to change it in settings though the settings only seem to be for the onscreen keyboard. I would probably like to then off auto-correct as well.

Hello to everyone,
I am really satisfied with my Surface book except of one thing:
When I'm undocking the Screen from the Keyboard and turning it on the other side, laying it on the Keyboard after a while the fan (I think it's the gpu fan) gets loud. This happens only when the Keyboard/nvidia Card unit is connect with the power supply. It's not Happening in battery mode.
Does anyone of you have the Problem too?
Is there any Solutions to solve this? (I also deactivated the Nvidia gpu in the device Manager. But it didnt help)
Many thanks in advance

Bought this desktop about 6 months ago. It had been working well for a few months and then a number of issues turned up. Keyboard and mouse would not response at all and monitor is off after the computer wakes up from sleep or fresh restart; wiif is disconnected and no wifi network is shown; the monitor (Dell P2715Q) would suddenly flicker constantly (one second black and a few seconds normal display). These problems can go away if I restart the computer, sometimes once, and sometimes a few times.
I can't remember if this had anything to do with BIO upgrade. My feeling is that it has no connection.
These problems are very ignoring. I shall appreciate suggestions to resolve these problems. Thank you.

pchen088,Not enough data. We need to know what Windows 10 updates you installed which may have caused the issues. If it was working for a few months, then all of a sudden not working sounds like a Windows update causing this to happen.

I have a all-in-one desktop that isn't turn the screen on.  I have tried unplugging it but it just doesn't seem to want to turn on.  The power button comes on and the lights at the bottom of it go on, but the screen stays blank.  Also, the keyboard seems to be struggling to connect with the computer.  What the heck is going on???

Hi Chantuay,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I?m sorry to hear that the Touch screen display is not working even if the power lights are ON, please let me know the model number of your All-In-One that you are using and if there is a port to connect External Display, check if the issue is same in that as well.
Hope to hear back soon

So my screen is displaying whites as cyan and blacks as red. When i hook it up to my tv, the picture is fine. So it is defintely a connection issue. My other half and son were using the computer yesterday, and then left it on to do some other things, upon returning to the laptop noticed that the power button was solid blue (should be flashing orange when in standby mode), with nothing on the screen, moved the mouse with nothing happening as well as CTRL+ALT+DELETE.

Powered computer down by holding the on/off button for 5 seconds, restarted but noticed that I could hear the DVD drive power up but that is where it stops/hangs, nothing comes on the screen. Have done this numerous times, as well as removing the battery and starting with just mains power on?

Can anyone help with what might be going on ??

Can you enter Bios (f2 on startup) to check if the HDD recognized. Also, try to reinstall Windows with a recovery disk or Windows copy disk.

Hi there, i have some issues with my monitor (awhhh).

It's working fine like 10-20-30 minutes and then it's turning off (for no reason) while the cumputer is running and the flash/button goes pink. I don't know what's this colour stands for. Blue is when the monitor is active, yellow is when the monitor is turn to sleep and when i shut down my computer, but PINK? What's that, anyone?

The monitor is turning OFF, not in a sleep mode or something.
I must remove the cable and push back in every 20 minutes. That's wrong.

Maybe it's the cabel, maybe something with drivers and stuff...i don't know.

So I set in my Y470P last week because it would turn off when I would be running programs and I just got it back today. The inventory sheet said they cleaned the heat sink and fan and replaced the thermal paste.  However now my laptop will turn off when im not even running anything. I've been on the phone with support for the last hour trying to get a solution to my problem and they've been imcomptent at best. I've read a lot of horror stories with their support, but it sucks to have to actually experience it.

Answer:Y460P went from turning off when running programs to turning off even when idle?

Hi malickk,Welcome to Lenovo Community!I"m sorry that the first repair didn't solve the issue. Actually it's not easy to have a one-time fix for all issues especially when comes to sudden shut down case. I personally would do couple of troubleshooting including cleaning fan, replacing thermal paste, re-image, changing some parts, etc.I strongly advise you to send in the machine again for repair and if the issue persists, please let me know and I'll see what i could help. Thanks for feedback anyway. Wish to hear from you soon. Best regards,Cleo

Here is the issue, when my computer goes to sleep after it's on for a while when I move the mouse to get the screen back up it shows the backround no icons or anything to click.
Same if I turn it off and turn it back on. I have to turn it off and on many times then go to safe mode and shut down then turn it on again for it to work. Just now I had to turn it on/off 4 times for it to show the icons and task bar. Usually it is left blank with nothing to click having no choice but to turn it off.
Norton says no viruses.
My computer is HP with windows 7. I bought it in 2011.
This problem has been happening for a long time. Please help.

Hello squirrels and welcome to Seven Forums.

I think I'd start out by trying to do a startup repair. It's been suggested that the startup repair be done 3 times (regardless of what the notifications say) and the computer rebooted after each repair.

A month ago it just turned itself off. For some time it wouldn't turn itself back on, but after I unplugged it, pulled all the cables out and plugged them back in it started working fine again. After a week or two I noticed that after shutting the computer down it would start back up. I sent the computer back to the supplier who advised the motherboard was faulty and it had been replaced. They said that following replacement they put it through a 3 hour, then a 1 hour stress test, and it was working fine.
Last night I got the computer back, set it up, and sure enough it was working fine. This morning it shut down on me again. Hi, I'm building my first custom built PC and I finished yesterday and everything seemed to be working great. That is, until this morning when I decided to update the BIOS. The reason I did this is because I read on the Internet that for my particular board (an MSI z97-Gaming 5 motherboard), that it was a good idea to update it. So I did it, and then my computer started endlessly restarting itself after one second on it being turned on.

I've tried:
Reseating the CMOS battery
Reseating the motherboard
Connecting the motherboard together outside the case
Powering the motherboard with the bare essentials
Replacing the power supply

The interesting thing was, I also replaced the power supply, after not getting a full reading on a power supply tester. The motherboard originally didn't fully power on again, but I took it out of the case and it worked, so I put it back in the case but it didn't work again. So I took it out of the case and it didn't work anymore. So I don't know what to do anymore. I've narrowed it down to two options, either it's the CPU or I bricked the motherboard. Anyone out here have any ideas?

Answer:Computer turning on for one second and then turning off and back on again

Any beeps before it drops off? My guess is bricked the motherboard. Trying to Google around and see if there is a solution but you may have to RMA the board. Did anything go wrong with the BIOS flash? Did it ever boot at all after you did the flash or did it stop working as soon as you did it?

I thought I had my computer fixed untill this morning when I woke up,

I turned the monitor off last night with my ATI remote wonder before I went to sleep.
When I woke up I turned on my monitor but it wouldnt display anything.

I have the latest drivers for the remote and my Graphics card (Gigabyte ATI radeon 9600XT) and my harddrive was recently formated and windows installed so I dont know what is wrong.

It doesnt look like my computer has crashed since there are no system messages as to why the monitor wouldnt display.

Could this be a problem with my graphics card? maybe not enough power from the PSU to it? I allready know my PSU sucks and have orderd a new one from Antec.

I bought an Acer Aspire 5532 notebook for my daughter which apparently came loaded with a temporary McAfee firewall. I'm getting a pop-up that says the computer is no longer protected, the trial version has expired. I went to the Control Center to see about turning on the built-in Windows 7 firewall, but I get the following message:These settings are being managed by vendor application McAfee Personal Firewall. Under the security settings, there is nowhere for me to turn on the Windows 7 firewall and turn off the McAfee.  Any ideas?

Answer:Turning off McAfee trial version firewall and turning on Windows 7 firewall

Uninstall McAfee through "Programs & Features" in Control Panel.Next, run McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool: done, download and install one of these:- Avira free antivirus: Avast! free antivirus: free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): During installation, Comodo will also allow you to install AV only, or firewall only, if you prefer to combine one Comodo product with some other product. If you decide to install Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on, or use Comodo firewall..If you decide to install Comodo Internet Security, or just Comodo firewall, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off.IMPORTANT! Make sure, you use only ONE antivirus, and ONE firewall.

Just few hours ago I was listening to songs on Napster. Then I played some online games. I had to reboot at one point since it was going slow on me.

For some reasons unknown, my computer turns off and tried to boot itself, but kept turning off and booted itself. Somehow it did that in a loop. I tried to wipe up some dirt from inside(it may not be completely wiped up). I even tried to rearrange the cables and such. Now, if I press the power button, it only shows the power indicator, but it won't boot. I'm just puttoping it to rest right now hoping that it would back up tomorrow when I turn it on.

I have Velocity Micro with Windows XP SP3 (update progression). Motherboard: ASUS. I posted this using my laptop. I appreciate any help or input.

Let me clarify. My brother brought his computer over for me to recable it. Simple process right? Not so much. Before I get into details, let me give you specs. Keep in mind since I did not build the system, I do not have all the information I usually would.

Windows Vista
4 GB of RAM (unknown brand)
Abit motherboard (unknown serial number)
AMD athlon 64 3.0 GHZ processor
4 250GB harddrives (In raid configuration to look like 2 hard drives @ 500GB each)
Antec 550 watt power supply
Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT Video card

Okay, so when I recabled everything and powered the system on, it would not boot at all. Everything was on and running, but the bios was not doing anything, and everything was at a standstill. Not knowing if the raid configuation and the motherboard had anything to do with it, I started swtiching the sata connections into different configurations based on what I think the individual would have done. In doing this I accidentally pulled a jumper from the motherboard. Setting it aside and not thinking it was important, I plugged everything back in and attempted to power on the computer.

This is where it gets interesting. Instead of even powering on like it did last time, it powered up for MAYBE one second before shutting off. Any other attempts to power it on were futile, and resulted in nothing.

After this, I replaced the jumper where it was supposed to go, and powered on the system again. The same thing happened. I want to think the power supply is toast, but I wou... Read more

Ok so I'm working with Windows 7.
My key board has compleatly stopped working. Even pressing esc. On the start up menu a work.
My usb keyboard is not working either, but the numbs lock light still comes on indicating it's getting power.
My on-screen keyboard will only bring up shortcuts in my chrome browser. The Ctrl and number lock keys are highlighted and won't let me turn them off.
I have removed my keys off the laptop and none of them seem to be stuck. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the keyboard drivers. Held power button for 15 seconds to reset the laptop. And in my settings turned off the sticky keys.
I'm at a loss now, any new ideas would be great, thanks in advance

Hi all. I have already posted this once here. The topic had quite a few views and not a single reply. I'm giving this another try, as the problem persists and is not getting any better.

The keyboard on my Aurora m9700 is having some strange issues. I cannot figure if it is software or hardware related, either. At random intervals, the keyboard will cease function. But when I go into standby, then come out of standby the problem seems to be magically fixed! In fact, the problem just happened right after I finished typing the last sentence. I checked event manager, nothing changed. I had to go into standby and come out of it...

So please, is there anyone on here that can help me out? I have reformatted the computer since this started happening and nothing has changed, so I do not know what could possibly be causing this!

Answer:Weird keyboard laptop issue. Keyboard randomly stops functioning until I standby.

Just going to keep bumping this until I get a reply, or bet banned. Every thread has some form of reply...maybe I smell or something?

Hi, I bought a Lenovo Essential G580 on 15th May 2013. Everything was working perfectly until yesterday when my keyboard started to type random characters. I had just put my laptop to sleep on the night of 20th July 2013 and when I switched on the laptop on the evening of 21st July 2013 the keyboard started typing random stuff. There has been no spillage on the laptop as its safely covered on my table and I am the only one living in my room. Also to make sure its not because of a software glitch, I tried the following: 1. Restarted the system multiple times2. Went to an earlier System restore point. (Tried 5 different one's)3. Refreshed the system4. Took a backup and Formatted the whole hard disk and reinstalled Windows.5. Switched off the laptop for the night and tried switching it on today morning. None of the above helped. Dear Dell community,
the E7440/E7420 (and I think many others) has keyboards with (e.g. 04W6PV 08PP00) or without trackpoint (e.g. . RXKD2 0RXKD2)
Subsequently the upper mousebuttons (A12AN5) can/should be removed (which is possible).
However, then I would need another keyboard trim covering the space where the upper mousebuttons have been.
I haven't found any different keyboard trim than 29FWC 029FWC (the one with a recess for the upper mouse buttons). I also didn't find a "filler" for the upper mouse buttons.
A trackpoint-less keyboard can be installed in a laptop with the upper mouse buttons still in place, but it's rather tight and the mouse buttons cannot be pushed properly any more, so should be disconnected.
How do I properly convert a trackpoint-enabled laptop to a trackpoint-less one?
kind regards

Can a laptop Toshiba L650-1M0 can replace the default standard keyboard for backlit keyboard?

Recommend checking this thread:

Usually the upgrade from a normal keyboard to backlit keyboard should not be a big problem if there is an additional connector on mainboard for such a backlit keyboard.
If such additional connector is not available, then you will NOT be able to use the backlight keyboard.

I have bought a brand new Toshiba NB100.
Because of th size of the keybord (and the strange choice of grey colored letters on the keyboard) I bought an external keyboard as well.
My language settings is norwegian, but the extern keyboard is US.
So I made it into Norwegian.

The problem is that now, whenever I am not using the external keyboard the embedded keyboard is a stranger to any language and has 'invented' it's own which means that I have to press the Fn-key to be able to access normal letters and the number zero.

I have tried to delete the keyboard drivers and retart in a hope to get back to the original settings but to no avail.

Hope somebody can help me.

Answer:NB100: internal keyboard issue after changing language on external keyboard

I am not sure but have you tried turning off / on FN+ F11 ?

Or maybe checking control panel > regional and language options > regional options tab or languages tab ?

Try various settings.

I recently (w/in last 2 weeks) purchased and received an E545 and after less than 8 hours of use the keyboard is extremely loose on the right hand side, primarily where the number pad sits but also extend into the right side of the alpha keyboard.  By losse, I mean that it doesn't sit well and when you press down on a key in that area of the keyboard, the entire right side of keyboard depresses.  ti's very disconcerting when typing and also extremely loud, which is an issue since I use the machine in meetings to take notes.
I've not seen much in searching, except for threads that are several years old.  I wanted to get some user input before contacting Lenovo, as I'm sure it will be better advice and less of a hassle.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:E545 keyboard problem - many keys not working - loose keyboard cable

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I?m sorry to hear that the entire keyboard of your Lenovo ThinkPad E545 depresses on key presses.
From what you have posted, it sounds like a keyboard flex. Keyboard flexing occurs if the board supporting the keys is not rigid or if the design of the keyboard is faulty. For good keyboards, the effect shouldn't be noticeable.
If you feel excessive flexing in your keyboard, try to reseat the keyboard. Since your system is under warranty, I would strongly suggest you to take assistance from Lenovo technical support.
Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I?m sure they will be a great help.

Windows 10
Start - Settings - Ease of Access - Keyboard

Everything here is off. If i turn on the On-Screen Keyboard no keys are Highlighted (indicating they are depressed/stuck )
When I use the hard keyboard and sometimes even the onscreen keyboard its as if either Ctrl, Alt Win or something are pressed down as it just types shortcuts.

-H- typed into chrome browser address bar via onscreen keyboard types as normal
-H- typed into chrome browser address bar via hard keyboard brings up -Chrome://history- But now also on the onscreen keyboard Ctrl is Highlighted.
I click on the onscreen keyboard to deactivate the now highlighted Ctrl button and try again. Now things are different, as now both the onscreen keyboard and the hard keyboard both bring up ?Chrome://history- when -H- is typed ( Shift is not depressed )

This seems to randomly cycle one min onscreen keyboard works fine, next the keyboard works fine or they either work or none of the work rendering the computer useless.

I cant help feel it?s a software issue but im no pro and I don?t have an additional external keyboard to try but as the onscreen and hard keyboard work ok for a while sometimes I assume something is up and that?s what brought me here.

Dear all, first a bigh thank you for reading this, i am sorry that my first post in the forum is a cry for help.Had a ThinkPad Edge with windows 7 for a couple of months, and up until a week ago everthing was perfectly dandy. From then on, i experience very randomly (sometimes every 2 minutes, when i watch a movie not at all) occuring interludes of varying lenght during which my touchpad slows down a bit (while the external mouse is fined) and the computer stops registering key board strokes while pressing the mute, volume controll, mike controll and camera controll buttons above the number keys randomly. To round things up, direct links arent followed in mozilla anymore but the html is saved to my desktop and my system recovery points have disapeared (no idea if that is conencted thou). All very odd, and i have no idea where to start troubleshooting. Since i am currently working in cambodia, sending the thing in isnt really an option, antivir doesnt find anything and tomorrow i will reinstall windows and spray insectspray on the keyboard in case i have an ant infestation. sadly, during the writing of this article my keyboard has ceased all communication with me and i'm writing from a friends mac. If any of you have brilliant ideas or need more information about my sustem and such, please reply. Thanks a lot, will now watch house, at least that still worksJake

Hi, I have a Lenovo Flex 2 14 which came with a British keyboard but I noticed you can take off the keyboard and swap it out for another one - you can find backlit versions, or a version with a different layout. I got a keyboard for it with Japanese hiragana on it, but the laptop doesn't seem to recognise any of the extra keys this keyboard comes with which have key codes not used by other languages. These keys include: | -? \ ??????the ????, ???? and ???? toggleI would have assumed this was to do with the fact that these are keys from a 106/109 key layout as opposed to the standard 102 key, so I replaced the keyboard driver with Microsoft's 106/109 key keyboard driver, but that hasn't had any effect - it still can't see these keys being pressed. The ??/?? ?? key works because it uses the same key code as the tilde on other keyboards, but that's all. My hypothesis for why this might not be possible to fix is that the ribbon connection between the keyboard and the motherboard could only support 102-key layouts in Europe, and therefore the only way to be able to use these extra input conversion keys without a different motherboard altogether would be to use an external USB keyboard. I may have just made up what I said about the motherboard though, so does anyone know if there's a driver I can use to solve this problem and be able to use the extra keys? I can't just use a key mapper like KeyTweak ... I thought I would share my recent adventure with a 3000 N500 I have. The laptop was special ordered with Xp Pro on it. I uninstalled and installed Ubuntu, worked great. At some point my wife spilled some soda onto the page up and down keys, resutling in those keys not working. Recently I purchased her another latop and decided to reinstall Windows Xp Pro on the N500 for use with some camera software I have. I decided to go ahead and order another keyboard from Amazon, for 21 bucks. I wiped the drive and used an OEM Xp Pro to reinstall windows. I was having some issues with sound and modem drivers and decided to go ahead and install SP3 on it to help out with the high def install of drivers. That worked great, but when I recieved the new keyboard Tuesday and install it, I noticed that some dual number letter keys were inputting numbers. I googled and was brought here where a number of posters stated several programs might be the cause. I searched and these programs WERE'NT installed on this, due to a clean install of OEM windows. This took me back to suare one, why. I'm very proficiant in PC's having built many custom machines and assisted others in repair. I decided to test the keyboard by using an flash drive with Linux on it. The keyboard worked like a champ, so that narrowed the issue to windows pr software inside it. Booting back to windows I started thinking that possibly an update inside SP3. I removed SP3 and rebooted and the keyboard worked great, no errors.... Read more

Hey everyone! I just installed Star Wars Battlefront 2 on an Asus Vivotab 8 tablet running Windows 10 32 bit. It has a weird bug where the game will crash unless I have a keyboard plugged in through an otg cable or over bluetooth. Is there any way I could install a driver so it thinks I have a physical keyboard plugged in 24/7?

Also, if this is possible, is there anything similar I could install so it believes I have a mouse plugged in as well? Thanks!

Answer:Looking for virtual keyboard/mouse driver (Game won't open if keyboard not detected)

Tablets are not designed to play games.
That being said, you can get a Bluetooth Keyboard or you can get a M icro USB to Standard USB adapter and plug in a USB keyboard.

Hello,I would like to purchase a UK keyboard for a W700ds. I am looking for one from an older generation laptop which does not suffer from the loud/hollow sounding keys, a 'feature' of the current keyboard. Can anybody give me the part number for a UK layout keyboard which will fit a W700ds without modification and does not suffer from the 'loud' keys? It would appear that using a keyboard from an older generation laptop is suitable solution to the loud/hollow sounding keys which many W700ds (and others) suffer from. More information here: Thanks!

Hi! I've got Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Silver (, and while I am quite content with the device, my keyboard stopped working. I was wondering whether any of you might know and suggest an online reseller (official or otherwise), where I could get hold of a replacement keyboard. Now, I suppose backlit keyboard versions of newer Yoga laptops will not work I guess, will they? From what I have read Yoga 13 Silver does not have the slot required for backlit, but aside that, will the keyboard function and will it fit (dimension-wise)? If so, what is the voltage and current required? Would soldering a small battery to the backlit cable be a good idea (I accept the fact that I wouldn't be able to regulate it)? Thank you in advance!ck

Hey all, I've recently (3 weeks ago orsomething) bought a new laptop, a Toshiba Satellite l670-143.
Windows 7 64bit
Intel? Core? i5-430M Processor
: 2.26 / 2.53 Turbo GHz
2nd level cache : 3 MB
4,096 (2,048 + 2,048) MB ram
ATI Mobility Radeon? HD 5650

But this last week ive been experiencing keyboard problems. The problem is not always present, but when its present it doesnt matter wether im gaming, browsing the internet or writing a document.
Im not 100% sure what the problem is, I've spent hours trying to figure it out and to fix it, but nothing seems to help. But when I press a P, I sometimes get ppp. Or when I press a P, it doesnt show up. This is with all keys. And especially when I'm typing fast. Also, when I hold the backspace button, it ''lags(for a split second)'' every 2 seconds orso. When the problem is not present, holding the backspace button is smooth.

I did loads of virusscans, and did all the registercleanups etc. I made sure that sticky keys and filterkeys are disabled. I checked all the drivers for updates. When i tried the nr.1 fix, it did go away when I rebooted. but the next day the problem came back and when I redid it, (did what he said + delete the file and create it again) it didnt fix the problem. Perhaps it was just random luck, I dont know. I disabled the laptop battery to see if it went better, it didnt.
I'm not sure what else ive tried too..

Answer:Satellite L670-143 - Keyboard lags but external keyboard work

To be honest if an external keyboard works properly I think it?s a hardware malfunction and related to internal keyboard. I doubt it?s a virus or something else because the same error would happen on external keyboard as well.

Furthermore for keyboard there is no special driver, it?s a part of Windows so you can?t update the keyboard driver.

Now in your case I would contact nearest authorized service provider. Your notebook is only 3 weeks old so it?s under warranty. If you contact the ASP, they can check the notebook and if you need a new keyboard, the repair is for free. :)

As I wrote in the title, my Shift and Alt keys stopped working for keyboard shortcuts. However, the Shift key still works when capitalizing letters.

I've been dealing with this problem off/on for the past two weeks and haven't been able to figure it out. I've gone into Ease of Access features and turned on/off all of the available options (Mouse Keys, Sticky Keys, Toggle Keys, Filter Keys). I've pressed Shift for 8 seconds, and pressed it 5 times, and still haven't been able to correct it.

Thank you in advance for any help offered.

Possibly helpful additional information:
I've got a Spanish/Latin American keyboard layout installed in addition to the US English keyboard layout. I toggle back and forth with Left Alt + Shift (which is how I noticed my Shift key stopped working).
I play a game whose controls rely on a lot of Shift key pressing and holding.

Answer:Keyboard - Shift & Alt keys stopped working for keyboard shortcuts

When was the last time you used a can of air cleaner on the keyboard? If it isn't from contact wear often keyboards tend to get loaded up with dust and debris!

One example of that is having any snacks onhand around a pc where little bits get passed along from your fingers onto and under the keys themselves. Keyboards are known to get loaded up fast with any foods present!

Hi everyone,

I accidentally messed up my keyboard settings in Excel 2010--I didn't notice the book sitting on the keyboard while working on something else on my desk--and can't figure out how to restore all of them to defaults in a blanket action. I fixed them one-by-one, but I can't figure out how to fix one last problem: I keep having the keytips pop up when the '/' key (no ALT or CTRL) is pressed. It doesn't matter if the slash is in the QWERTY or the 10-key. The keytips still pop up.

Can someone help me figure out how to return the normal function?

I have a Tecra A3 and are using it with a Microsoft Comfort keyboard. The problem is that ever since the keyboard drivers have been installed the function keys (i.e. Fn + F2 to change power mode) now carry out additional funcitons i.e Fn + F2 also brings up the My Pictures folder. The strangest on is turning the wirelss network card on or off with the switch on the front of the notebook. This has the additional effect of loading an extra copy of MS Outlook each time it is swithed.
I have the latest version of Microsoft IntelliType Pro (version 5.20.412.0)

Any idea on how to solve this?

Answer:Tecra A3 Keyboard Function keys and Microsoft Comfort Keyboard

Sorry but you have not explained do you have this problem now using notebook keyboard or external one.

If the problem persists using an external one I think that you can not use Toshiba FN+FX key combinations. Every external keyboard is specific one and in my opinion you should check user?s manuals and check also all additional functions. I am also pretty sure that you are able to configure some special keys on your own.

The issue with WLAN switcher is very strange. Try to remove Microsoft specific software and check if the functionality is like before.

I bought this awesome, lovely and exquisite piece of technology innovation in August 2014.I have come to India and everyone loves it.Everything was fine until the last Saturday morning when I was typing an email. I got on a phone call for a while and it went in sleep mode. Pretty normal. I concluded the call and touched the space bar expecting the normal, quick wake up and the login screen. The login screen came up alright, but the password box was already filled. I tried to use backspace to clear the box and I missed a heartbeat! Nothing seemed to happen. So I force shut it holding the power button and after a minute bring it up again. Same scene! This has continued. I am going to be in India for a few months. So I checked with Lenovo service centers calling them. And I learn this model is not supported in India. My warrantee is valid, but of no use!I go to a local dealer, to no avail. I have lost my primary way of communication. Difficult to live this way. Right? SO I buy a toolset (expensive!), open the back cover and disconnect the keyboard cable. I put the cover back and start using it as a tablet only.It is serving me for now, but cant do this for long. What may be wrong? My friend is travelling to the US (San Jose) in a couple of weeks. Should I send it with him? Will Lenovo give me a replacement keyboard or whatever part? I have been a computer professional for 30+ years and used more than 6 laptops so far. Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Keyboard continuously floods characters in the keyboard buffer

I have this same problem but with my Y510p. It floods the 'Q' character.
The only solution which seems possible is a keyboard replacement (unless the connecting port is damaged, which is highly unlikely). I have ordered a keyboard and it is on the way.
As for your scenario, I would say that if you friend is going to be in US for more than 2 months then it is fine to send it with him for repairs. You could also order a keyboard online and replace it yourself (I ordered on ebay).
Check your manual on lenovo website for supported keyboard part number.
Tip -
To disable a malfunctioning keyboard like yours, you can either disconnect it physically (like you did)
You can go into Control Panel > Device Manager > Keyboards
Select the laptop keyboard and manually install a wrong keyboard driver.
This way the keyboard wont be recognized and wont work.

I have a user with a Tecra M2 whose keyboard is no longer functioning properly, 2 or 3 keys work (Enter, space, caps lock), the rest of them when pressed cause a very quiet "beep" noise to come from the laptop.

I assumed this keyboard was faulty - I attached a usb keyboard to the laptop, but this has exactly the same symptoms, they keys dont work and when pressed the beep noise comes from the laptop, no characters appear on screen.

The laptop boots to the Windows XP login screen fine.

Any ideas what has caused this, and what the solution would be?

Answer:M2 Keyboard problem - attaching external keyboard doesn't work either

Sounds to me like the keyboard controller on the motherboard has gone bad. Since it causes the defect on an external keyboard then your motherboard is bad. If it was only the keyboard then an external one would work fine. But all keyboard types connected to a portable are routed first through the Keyboard controller integrated on the motherboard, then the characters are displayed. When this goes bad no keyboard will work, not even an external one. And the only fix to this is replacing the motherboard. Hope this helps.

I upgraded from Windows 8.1 (and I never had this problem), to Windows 10 and I noticing that my keyboard would stop responding in windows explorer, calculator, search, etc. The keyboard had no issues working in a browser like Chrome, but it wouldn't respond in something like Adobe Premiere Pro.

To clarify - the keyboard works fine initially when I restart my computer. And then randomly, it decides not to work in explorer. That's when I start testing various applications to see if it works. What I found was that Adobe CC programs, windows explorer and anything native to Windows (programs such as calculator, search, etc.) doesn't respond to keyboard inputs.

But it gets more confusing - my keyboard still works fine. For example, if I hold down, ctrl+shift+esc, Task Manager does show up. If I hit the calculator shortcut on my keyboard, calculator does come. If I toggle Caps Lock, the little notification appears on my screen telling me that Caps Lock is on or off.

Within Chrome, the biggest issue I found was if I use the period in the numeric keypad side, it acts as "delete" instead of a period, whereas the numbers all work perfectly (hitting '1' gives me '1', not 'end').

I'm at wits end because I even clean installed Windows 10, in case of an bug during the upgrade, and I'm experiencing the exact same thing. Drivers were the latest from Logitech's site, but the still am using the old unifying receiver (if that makes a difference).

Keyboard & Mouse: Acer Desktop

Ever since I would say, the past upgrade for Windows 10, my mom's Acer desktop's keyboard has been really laggy. For example, when I go to wake it from sleep to unlock it, the keyboard's Number lock and Caps lock keys do not want to light up. It seems as if the keyboard doesn't want to respond in a timely manner along with the computer. The same goes for the wireless Logitech mouse.

The same as I mentioned above goes for the Toshiba Laptop that was originally mine, that I have given to my sister.

Thanks in advance!
