I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: TuneUP Utilities ( reviews anyone ? )

Most techies agree that these types of programs only lighten your wallet and are not needed. "Tune up", "repair" "registry cleaner" "speed up PC" or whatever you want to call them are in this category.

Are you unable to completely remove AVG PC Tuneup and TuneUp Utilities completely from Windows using Windows Control Panel 'Add/Remove Programs' Option? If yes, try AVG PC TuneUp Remover. The utility automatically and completely removes AVG PC TuneUp and TuneUp Utilities, and all it's components. Having such a tool at hand becomes necessary and even more obvious since the manual process involves lot of complexities and is time consuming as well. Also, what makes the process not worth trying is the fact that the process does not assure for complete or say permanent removal of all the application component ? its settings, associated files, registry entries & more, which could later on create trouble in smooth functioning of the system.
Download the AVG PC TuneUp and TuneUp Utilities Remover HERE.

Answer:AVG PC TuneUp Remover: Completely uninstall AVG PC TuneUp & TuneUp Utilities

Hi, I'm Rebekah. If you want to manually uninstall AVG PC TuneUp, you need to uninstall the program via Windows uninstall utilities, show the hidden files and folders, end AVG PC TuneUp process, delete the program's files, folders and registry entries, etc.

Hiya!!

I'm using TuneUp Utilities 2010 and i did a Hard Disk test and then it asked me to restart my computer because of hard disk test which is time to begin in next reboot, so i restarted it and disk test started to run normally while booting, i let it complete the test and when it went back to desktop i did another Hard Disk test in TuneUp Utilities 2010 but it asked me to restart my computer again because it found something on my hard drive which requires a restart again and another hard disk test while booting, what causes this very annoying problem here, it asks me to restart my computer all the time!!

I bougthed a license for it and it's 100% legal softaware and all the updates is installed too!! Is there any way to fix this restart message in TuneUp Utilities 2010 and make it run like normally and not to require a restart after every Hard Disk test and fix in boot??

This is a brand new computer which i have this problem.

Here's my configs:

HP Pavilion DV7-3197.eo
TuneUp Utilities 2010 version 9.0.4200
Windows 7 NVIDIA Edition 2010 x64

When i ran x86 computer i never had a problem like this...very odd!!

Hi,

I have been using the Tuneup Shredder feature of Tuneup Utilities for quite a time. When it showed the option of "Delete the free allocated Space", I enquired about it but the answer was quite misleading on the website. So I ended up "Selecting" that option.

I have used it for a number of times. But now I find that almost 50GB (yes, that is quite precious to me) is almost gone! I can't understand where it's gone. I enquired on some forums then came to know that it was all because of that option.

I am very much worried about my disk space. Now that total size of disk is shown 50GB less! Please advice me what should I do to get back my 50GB space. Please don't disappoint me!
Thanks

Answer:Tuneup Utilities: Disk Space Gone after using TuneUp Shredder!

Welcome to Seven Forums mukeshleo5.

The space mentioned is at the "end" of a file and should only be overwritten with the data. Tune up as far as I know can't delete HDD space. I've used it since 2005 with no trouble with the Guttman method of 35 over writes.

Any thoughts on which is better on keeping Windows XP running smoothly, Tuneup Utilities vs Norton Utilities? Is one better than the other or do both have specific utilities that are superior? Can both be run on the same machine or is that looking for complications? Thanks.

Answer:Tuneup Utilities vs Norton Utilities

Norton [Symantec] programs have a bad reputation for causing problems. I would go with "TU," of which I have an old version that has worked fine and caused no complications.

well..... that program honestly is ment to change themes and boot images nothing more

even though it tells you about cleaning broken links and entrys it really doesnt do so .

best thing to do is to manauly clean your drive .do manual adjustments yourself don't look for any real software to take care of registry files and deletions in partions it could screw you up later on.

After trying to uninstall tuneup utilities I cannot do a system restore(normal or safe mode),mouse and keyboard trouble, must click on everything twice to open something from a web page, trying to download new programs such as Adobe Reader, etc. I am also having trouble with internet explorer not allowing me to open up new windows and most of the time I get an error stating the my internet connection is lost when I am supposed to be constantly linked to the internet. I also had some trouble trying to get search results on your website as well as signing in. Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons:? Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable. The Windows registry is a central repository (database) for storing configuration data, user settings and machine-dependent settings, and options for the operating system. It contains information and settings for all hardware, software, users, and preferences. Whenever a user makes changes to settings, file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in this repository. The registry is a crucial component because it is where Windows "remembers" all this information, how it works together, how Windows boots the system and what files it uses when it does. The registry is also a vulnerable subsystem, in that relatively small changes done incorrectly can render the system inoperable. For a more detailed explanation, read Understanding The Registry.? Not all registry cleaners are created equal. There are a number of them available but they do not all work entirely the same way. Each vendor uses different criteria as to what constitutes a "bad entry". One cleaner may find entries on your system that will not cause problems when removed, another may not find the same entries, and still another may want to remove entries required for a program to work.? Hello.Do any of the forum members use this software?.Have you noticed a difference after use?,good or bad?.Thanks

Answer:TuneUp Utilities 2006

I have used it since it first appeared last year. I can't honestly say if it has made any particular difference because my PC is fast enough for me, and I take good care to make sure I don't get hit with nasties of any sort. I like the one-click maintenance, it is quick and I guess it does its job very well. All I can say really, is that I am continually amazed at how many people have so many problems time and time again. I dare to say it - I don't have problems, other than little niggles usually of my own making!I also use AVG/Sunbelt Pers Firewall/Ad-Aware/CCleaner/AntiSpyware Bot/RegClean(Paid for version) and Diskeeper.Plus I think my fair share of ordinary Common Sense!

Hi,I have a couple of questions to ask, if you be so kind as to help me! :) I should mention that while I am fairly intelligent in general, I have absolutely no computer skills beyond turning the damn thing on!1. I recently bought some software for my laptop, and with it came a free licence for TuneUp Utilities 2010. I have done some reading about it, and since my laptop is getting quite old, it could do with speeding up. However, I have also read mixed reviews of TuneUp - some people say it's great, but others say it's worthless and if anything slows the computer down even more. My question is, should I use it? I wouldn't buy it, but since it was free, is it worth trying it?2. I've also been thinking about adding more RAM to my laptop, and according to crucial.com, I can do so. I've read on here that it can be done by a layman such as myself, but is it more difficult to add RAM to a laptop? Also, both my RAM slots are taken up, but one of the cards is not the maximum capacity my laptop can handle. Is it really as simple as just removing the old one and putting a new one in it's place? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Answer:TuneUp Utilities and RAM queries

RAM - The price of RAM is said to be very low at the moment. Remove all the old RAM and replace it with the most that your Lappy will hold. (Buy from Crucial, they will sort you out if there are any problems) I don't think that it matters much if that is made up of 1 Stick or 2. TuneUp is outside my experience as I use CCleaner (free) and the Built-in Windows Defragmenter. I also use Secunia (free) to warn me if any of my Software is un-patched.

Dear Tech Support Guys and Trusted Advisers,
I have been trying to remove the (trial version) of TuneUp Utilities 2012 from my computer for over 3 weeks.
My computer was hesitating and slow to respond to mouse clicks.
So, I took a look at this program that cleans up old files, but, decided not to buy it.
Mostly out of fear that this was another attempt to create a problem and charging a fee to fix it.
The TuneUp Utilities file has been on my computer ever since.

I have already uninstalled the program from my Control Panel and I tried Revo Uninstaller Pro (free version).
It removed itself from Revo but not from my Program Data files.
Another form of web deception where you enter the problem name to a list
and they remove it from that list you just created.
I can move it around but not into the recycle bin. What is this thing?
How can I not have permission to do what I want on my own computer? XP would never do that!
Please help me remove TuneUp Utilities 2012 from my computer.
I am using Win 7 Pro w/XP mode, SP1, 64bit, i7, IE9.

It's programs like this that can cause issues like these (and much worse).

Anything that "cleans your registry" should be avoided, it does absolutely nothing to clean or speed up your computer.

From Elvandil:
There is no reason to ever clean the registry. It doesn't make the system faster and only risks damage. It's like Russian Roulette with no prize for not losing.
Search for "reg cleaners" or "registry cleaners" in the forum and see what you find. Better yet, do a web search for "I used a registry cleaner".
Relying on an automated process to delete things from such a fragile place as the registry isn't the best idea. We get lots of redo's on systems because people, as soon as we leave, install ALL SORTS of registry cleaners and do so much damage that they are back in the shop.
Windows uses a binary search when looking up keys, which means that even to look up a key in 4.2 billion keys it needs to look at maximally 32 keys. It isn't going to make the slightest bit of difference if there are a half-million obsolete keys present.
http://www.chaoszone.org/index.php?s=registry+cleaners
Then, there are the registry repair programs. Those people should be shot. If you look at the proposed "fixes" in some piece of junk like WinDoctor, you will find that over 90% of the "fixes" the program plans to make are w... Read more

The temp folder containing the remove package is missing or deleted. The only way I can think of is to go into regedit and remove every line pertaining to it. That would be a monumental pain and not worth it in my estimation

If any of you use TuneUp Utilities, there is a feature in which you can disable a program service from running in the background (not startup programs). You can see which program services are running in the background and how much load they are putting on the system and accordingly you can disable them.

The good thing about this feature is that when you start the program corresponding to the service which you disabled, it automatically starts the service and disables it once you exit the program. This is a very useful feature and I have not come across any program which has such a feature. Even in windows MSCNFIG the Services tab lists all services but not how much load they put on the system.

The only downside is, TuneUp Utilities takes up much RAM and CPU power. My question is, does anyone know of any software (probably free) which has this particular feature?

I'll start with the most logical, install the software. Then on the Tune-up main window, click "Settings", "General", "Integration", then uncheck the "Show undelete..." option.

This would fix the problem, even if it takes re-installation of the program.

I rarely purchase programs, but Tune Up Utilities is one I did purchase. I like the program and what it does. You don't have to purchase it right away. They offer a free fully functional 30 day trial. Use it for a while, see if it helps with your issue. You can download the trial from here: http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/If you decide to purchase the product wait until close to the end of the 30 days. They usually send you an emailoffering a discount to entice you to buy it. Other people may have suggestions for different programs for you try.Have you deleted the cache? Is it snake oil or worth buying?

also, is its registry cleaner good or best to stick to CCleaner or no reg cleaner at all?

I have a fresh Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center installation

Answer:What do you think of TuneUp Utilities 2014?

I stay far away from tune up apps. An app like ccleaner has always been enough for me.

I do NOT recommend the use of a registry cleaner unless you have an established problem you cannot solve and you have tried everything else. In other words, "use as a last resort" only. Do not use a registry cleaner as a proactive maintenance task.

Best way to keep the registry clean? Install a virtual machine and test and experiment with all of your software in the vm. Only load stuff you actually need in the host machine.

Hello Mandie,

If you are getting a message it is incompatible - better leave it alone.

Ther are a couple of free programs that work well and may provde somewhat similar functions - Ccleaner and Glaryutilities.

They both work well on 7100 - even on x64.

I would advise not using the Registry clean module on Ccleaner , or the Regdefrag module on Glary.

All the others work well and safely. Be sure to check the options on Ccleaner. For example uncheck the option to clear Windows Defender logs - or it will "forget" it has scanned.

CCleaner - Home

Hope it helps

TuneUp Utilities 2012

So what you all think about this software on WINDOWS 7 all versions.
Is it worth installing.Won't it hurt the registry or any other kind of weak point in win7?

Answer:PC TuneUp Utilities 2011/2012

Hi.

Windows 7 does not need any "external" tune up help.

Windows 7 is not xp.

Windows 7 is smart and is "tidy up" everything by itself.

Tuneup software in most cases they dont tuneup they mess up the system.

We had many members with bsod after using "tuneup" programs.

I hope that i was clear

Not sure if this is posted in the right place, if not could a mod please move it?

OK - I have a three licence Tuneup Utilities 2010, which I have installed onto my own system and my nephew's laptop. At first, everything was fine and it worked on both machines. However, it was necessary to return the laptop to factory defaults and now when trying to use TuneUp Utilities 2010 on the laptop, it installs OK so I don't think there's a problem with licencing or anything like that, but when you try to open the Start Centre, it is permanently stuck on the Detecting Status screen:

Instead of putting that screen up though, it's just displaying 'detecting status' in all the boxes. As I said, before it was fine - can anyone help? I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, no joy.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit: The odd thing is, it appears to be doing its thing because the notification bubbles are popping up from time to time, but I can't get into the startup centre and it's saying it's identified a problem on the PC, so I'd like to get in and see what's up.

Answer:Problem with Tuneup Utilities 2010

Sounds like there were some leftovers of TU2010 after the factory restore, and that is confusing your new install.

Try Revo Uninstaller to first get rid of everything, it wouldn't hurt to take note of the developers/company name, and then go through the registry to manually delete any references to the program, and then try re-installing TU2010 again.

Answer:TuneUp Utilities 2009 Problem

Hi Izihuichen

Welcome to Vista Forums and sorry no one has responded to your query up until now.

In order for me or another member to help you, are you able to provide a screen shot of what you are talking about using Vista's Snipping Tool and we can go from there.

Although I purchased TuneUp Utilities 2009, I haven't installed it on my PC for some time so I'm not exactly sure what is meant by "Health Issues" or indeed is that a notification TuneUp gives you on the sysyem tray recommending what it believes you need to do to secure/optimize your computer etc?

I need the TuneUp Utilities 2012 .msi setup from this hidden file location C:\ProgramData\{32364CEA-7855-4A3C-B674-53D8E9B97936}, I deleted mine....and now I can't uninstall it.
I should have known better that removing that file would cause problems!.

Answer:Can someone with TuneUp Utilities 2012 installed help me?

Two things you can do here...first, re-install software, that should put back the missing files and allow you to uninstall it. The other is risky, using the registry editor you and remove it completely from you system...if your not sure what your doing or looking for you can render the PC useless and is not recommended by most.

Hi there,

I recently installed TuneUp Utilities 2010 on my new computer. I keep my computer fresh with antivirus definitions and take really good care of it. While my main letter drive [K:] is not dirty, TuneUp Utilities advised that I should run CHKDSK during the next start-up to keep it running smoothly. I knew I didn't need it but proceeded anyway.

On the next start-up, CHKDSK was taking too long and when I tried to cancel it -- I couldn't! It kept blocking my keyboard so now every time I try to reboot my computer in to normal Windows I cannot! I am writing this message using UBCD4Win. Is there anyway that I can cancel CHKDSK from running? Please keep in mind I am on UltimateBootCD4Windows! (UBCD4Win)! Please, please help.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. I cannot let CHKDSK run because in TuneUp Utilities I selected "thorough analysis" and I have 500GB worth of files on this main hard drive -- it would take forever!

Answer:Big CHKDSK Problem with TuneUp Utilities!

On my systems...before chkdsk will run after a reboot...a screen comes up which states that a disk check is scheduled and gives the user the opportunity to cancel such.

You don't get such screen?

Optimization tools have long moved from executing maintenance tasks on-demand to having components managing the resource usage in real-time. Turbo Mode, Live Optimization, Live Tuner - almost every optimization software now has the real-time tools to keep our system in optimal condition. TuneUp 2011 went as far as introducing Program Deactivator, which utilizes Programs-on-Demand technology to start "deactivated" programs on demand.

Just as is the case with the security software, what sort of impact, if any, does a maintenance software have on PC performance? Interesting article on the performance impact of TuneUp Utilities 2011.

TuneUp Tests on TuneUp Utilities 2011

I know it's been posted a while ago, but it was an interesting read for me, especially after suspecting TUU 2011 of having some negative impact on a netbook's performance [although in my case Turbo Mode, Live Optimization and Program Deactivator were all activated].

Note: the only TuneUp functionality enabled during this test was the Live Optimization [TuneUp Utilities Service].

I have TuneUp Utilities 2004 and would like to add the windows backup utility to this program .

The windows backup utility is found here go to start > all programs > accessories > system tools

if you are familiar with TuneUp Utilities 2004 I would like to add a 3rd option in the File Recovery & Destruction category called Backup that will basically open up the windows backup utility.

Also wonder if I can add the defragmentation utility as a 3rd option in the Clean Up and Repair cateogry, the defragmentation utility is found at start > all programs > accessories > system tools

IS there a way to modify the dill or other files that control the TuneUp Utilities 2004 program?

Tuneup Utilities have no Forum support for users except FAQ's.

Unable to find solution I have come here. My problem relates to Tuneup Utilities and is described below:

There is one option for backing up settings, but they do not disclose what file contains Settings Backup, also there is no option to restore old backup settings.

So how can one save backup files so that same settings can be synchronized in more than one computer.

Any help ?

Also I shall be grateful if someone could suggest proper site where I can get relative help, if not here.

Answer:Tuneup Utilities backup/Restore

Your best course of action if you don't want a damaged computer is to get rid of that program. The registry cleaner is just the beginning of the damage it can do. They have a clear statement of non-responsibility for damages even if they have no support.

Get rid of it. Windows has all the tools you need to maintain a machine.

Thought I would try the program TuneUp Utilities, foolishly I did not read closely what performance changes it was making. It disabled indexing, which to me is quite an important function of Windows. Immediately seeing what happened I reran the utility this time making sure to deselect all the options in the hope that it would re-enable them. I then rebuilt the index. Only the start menu appears to be indexed, rather than my entire computer as I had wanted.

Then went through services and made sure that anything the utility program had disabled was running and once again rebuilt the index. No change. Not sure what else to try now, how can I get things working again?

There's a sale going on right now on the software... and I heard at another forum that it's one of the best optimizers. Is it really worth buying it? What would it accomplish beyond what CCleaner and occasional defragmentation does?

Thanks!

Answer:Is it worth buying TuneUp Utilities 2009?

I don't see anything with this program that you can't do with tools included with Windows or something you can download for free.

Comodo System Cleaner is absolutely free and does basically the same thing. Combine that with CCleaner and Revo for uninstalls and you have that program for no cost.

Anybody try this program ?

What do you click on to make computer run faster in startup and shutdown ??

How do you find the program ? Does it run o.k. for you ?

I find registry cleaner and registry defrag don't work.

It freezes 1/4 way of progress bar and doesn't progress any further when scanning and I had to use Task Manager in Windows to cancel it..

Same thing happens when defragging the hard drive.

Are there bugs in that software when using it with Windows 7 ?
Because I am using it on Windows 7 at the moment, which has the latest updates updated.

How many mins. does it usually take for it before it completes scanning ?

Thanks.

Hey there! Do not run these kind of programs they are bloatware. If you can scan with Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

I am running Win 7 Pro x64......I purchased the Auslogics Registry Defrag some months ago. I also just recently purchased TuneUp Utilities 2010, which has a registry defrag built into it. Does anyone have an opinion as to which one is better to use to defrag the Registry?

Have used the Auslogics defraggers as well as CCleaner for years on over a hundred machines with no issues. They are all state of the art.

They are supposed to also be free, unless you buy the Auslogics Boostspeed program which is really IMO unneeded tweaking with Win7.

Dear all,
It's been a while since I last posted over here. I'm helping a friend with her laptop and I've tried everything. I need help. Here's the problem:
The Acer laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) installed and she is now having trouble logging in to Windows. It's just a black screen with a movable cursor. The last changes to the system was the uninstallation of a software (which I found out later is called TuneUp Utilities).
I saw a thread elsewhere (http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?s=01d68ab23aa57dc1f5acb75027eca482&showtopic=116255) having the same issue but nothing came up.
So far, I've tried using the "Repair Your Computer" option (F8 during boot) but there were no restore points to fall back to. Next, I tried Startup Repair but it didn't find any problems.
The last thing I did was bring up Command Prompt
and tried to run the "sfc /scannow" command but got the following message:There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again.
One thing to note, I opened My Computer from Command Prompt and saw that the partition (C:) on which Windows is installed has only 48 KB out of 14.6 GB. Wondered if that could prevent a successful boot.
Please help with this problem while we look for the Windows 7 installation disc.
Thank you.

Edit: Going through the log in Startup Repair, the last line states that "boot status indicates that the OS booted successfully". Having said that, whenever the black screen appears... Read more

Hello Friends!
I recently installed TuneUp Utilities 2013 on my system(Windows XP).
I noticed a new power saving feature in it which allows you to enable Economy Mode for the same.
However, i have realized that the CPU usage has gone up and is generally at approx. 10% as compared to 4% previously. But one thing to notice is that Commit Charge has decreased a lot, and does not go up more than 350M which used to be approx. 450M before.
So I wanted to know whether power consumption of a pc depends on CPU usage or Commit Charge? Or is there an issue with the software?
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Answer:TuneUp Utilities 2013 power management issue

Power consumption is largely determined by CPU usage. Commit charge has nothing to do with it. It is actually very difficult to explain in a way that is both easy to understand and accurate. I won't try.

As for TuneUp Utilities 2013:
It is yet another one of those do everything utilities that appeals so much to novice users. It contains some useful functions, most of which are already a part of any modern OS, as well as some potentially dangerous ones. In particular a registry cleaner which generally cause more problems than they solve.

I wouldn't use it if it was free, let alone for the asking price.

Answer:Tuneup Utilities 2012 Registry Cleaner crash

Hello and Welcome!

While others maybe more knowledgeable about the precise error codes you have, I think I will express the majority opinion here, and recommend against using any type of "registry cleaners", including Tune-Up Utilities and any number of other similar apps.

Based on my personal experience and on multitude of posts in these Forums, I think that Windows 7 does a very good job keeping itself lean. Moreover, most of these utilities actually do more harm than good.

You mentioned, that you have re-formatted your computer. I am not sure whether you mean that you have reinstalled Windows, but if that's what you did, then why would you think that a registry cleaner is necessary? Sometimes, if you keep installing and uninstalling software and you do that a hundred times a day for a few years, the amount of left-overs from incomplete uninstalls becomes rather large and you might think that deleting such entries from the registry would be useful. But this is an extreme case and even then I would advise to proceed only if you actually understand which registry entries are being deleted and why.

If you are trying to use the registry cleaner to deal with a particular issue, I suggest you report that issue here and we'll try to help you with it.

Dear MajorGeeks Admin, i am having trouble installing TuneUp Utilities 2004 v4.1.2312. After clicking on the software's installer i am immediately faced with the error "Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid". I have downloaded the program twice, once from Planet Mirror and again from BTN. I asked my son to try and install it on his computer just to be sure it wasn't my computer doing strange things, but the same error message appeared. Can you please try to install the program on your computer and advise me as to a possible reason for this error. I am using Windows XP. I tried to download the program from the official website but was confronted with a 'legal notice'. Many thanks in anticipation of your reply. Sincerely, Julian.
