login profile picture revert back to previous picture

Question: login profile picture revert back to previous picture

Hi all,

Super bizarre.

So I woke up this mornind to login into my PC and see that my profile pic is changed back to the previous one. I have not any changes myself.

skype is linked to microsoft account. (skype had my old picture)

other option is that someone logged into my outlook and chaged profile picture then it got synced...

I cannot find any information on why or how picture would revert. ( even more so on a specific date )

any ideas or leads ?

Preferred Solution: login profile picture revert back to previous picture

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: login profile picture revert back to previous picture

Hello newbiew, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Since you Microsoft account is synced by default, then it most likely automatically changed back after syncing.

If you wanted to have the same user account picture for all devices, then changing it for everything should help.

If you only wanted to change it on this PC, then you could turn off syncing for Appearance under "Personalization settings" using the tutorial below.

Microsoft Account - Switch to in Windows 8

Is there a way for me to remove only my profile picture (but not the frame for the profile picture) from the logon screen. I've tried editting the authui.dll file but am unsure what to change. I've tried using xxxdannyxxx's authui.dll file as well but it removes both the frame and the picture.

Help would be appreciated, thanks.

Answer:Remove Profile Picture from Login Screen?

Hello IcedEclipse,

If you like, you could set Windows to require users to enter both their username and password on the log on screen. This will hide all users and account pictures on the log on screen.

Log On with User Name and Password

Hope this helps,
Shawn

My computer was displaying some abnormal behavior this weekend where it was registering the touchpad portion, but not the keyboard portion of my Logitech wireless keyboard-touchpad combo. I thought a simple reboot would solve the problem, but it's only led to a whole bigger issue.

The reboot process much more slowly than normal, but computer did load eventually load the lock screen correctly. However, when I click to move to the login screen, I'm met with mostly blank login screen with no login box and no apparent way to login. The only things on the screen are the accessibility and power buttons in the lower corners of the screen. I've included a screenshot below.

Any ideas on how to fix this short of a clean install of Windows 8.1? I've tried rebooting four or five times and I get the same login screen each time. I also tried to "refresh" my Windows installation, but it failed around 13%

Thanks!

I want to upgrade from 7 to 10 so that I won't lose the chance of upgrading my laptop to a newer version of Windows for free, although I cannot practically make this change until an important piece of software I use daily for work will start supporting Windows 10, which might take a couple of years from the looks of it. Therefore I have to revert back immediately. Will I get to keep my Windows 10 license if I do this, and maybe upgrade when the software I use fully supports the OS? I have a retail key (not OEM) and I've only ever used it on one PC.
Also, do I have to use the built-in revert system or can I just flash back a previous backup image of my hdd?

Answer:Do I lose my license if I revert back to a previous OS?

Yes. After the initial activation you have a permanent digital entitlement stored on Microsoft Activation servers. Subsequent installs of the same edition and version of Windows 10 on the same computer will retrieve the digital entitlement for activation.

You can go back to your previous OS any way that you choose to. If you clean install it from install media, however, you may be required to provide the product key for it.

Question: Profile Picture

Just a thought - I posted a question a few minutes ago. After the post, I noticed a very strange picture beside my Screename.....it looks like electrified spaghetti and meatballs up close or a hairy ear from afar. No idea why this picture was chosen as the default but just wanted to let everyone know that I myself, did not choose it. I don't even like spaghetti and meatballs. Hairy ears aren't so bad. :-) Lynn

In the overall scheme of things, and considering the purpose of this computer help site, this request is pretty trivial but has made me more "curiouser" as time goes by. Many of the respondants on this site have an icon next to their name, some of which are animated. As I read throught the instructions for this site it states that you can upload a picture for your profile but there can be no cartoon type characters yet, everyone seems to have a cartoonish icon. I'm jealous and want to have one too. How do I go about it?

I noticed that the profile picture on the start menu is a bit more blurry than the actual image. If you look at the image below, the profile picture attached to the start menu appears to be a bit more blurred than the same image in the user accounts window.

EDIT: The image below is crap quality, so please compare it on your own PC to see what I'm talking about.

This is no big deal, but when I use a custom picture, it looks even worse. Is there anyway to make the profile picture not blurry? I already tried converting it into a bitmap format. It seems to work with XP, but not with Vista. Any solutions or no?

You should be able to change it by going to Settings > Accounts > Your email and accounts. You'll see your existing pic, and underneath that you'll see the options to either browse for an existing pic, or use the camera on your PC/laptop (if it has one) to take a new pic.

Firstly I'd like to apologize about the erractic appearance/disappearance of my screenshots.
I justed installed the Windows Live Essentials 2011 and while checking on my Skydrive ( part of WLE ), I accidentally deleted some images that I had posted in this forum as screenshots. Then I realized that my Skydrive is a link to my screenshots. I hastily tried to replenish the missing screenshots and made a mess of them. Sorry.

Now to my other issue....
I have selected a picture as my profile. But, I don't see it appears in the threads to which I had replied.
I can see the picture in my profile file, just not appearing in the threads.
Someone please enlighten me ?
Thank you.

Answer:My aplogy then my question about my profile picture

Don't worry about the picture thing - we've all done stuff like that. Any thread where it being missing becomes an issue or is questioned, just fix it if/when that occurs and if really necessary and that should be fine.

The profile picture just appears in your profile page. The picture in the threads is called the avatar and that's what you need to add to put a picture in the threads.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

I don't want everyone seeing my profile picture.

Hello goldxer0, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you have a restore point dated before this available, then you could do a system restore with it to undo and fix this.

If not, then you could try running a sfc /scannow command to see if it may help if ExpoTheme only modified a system file.

Hope this helps for now,

Hi all...Quick question: I changed the profile pic on my primary Outlook account (which is connected to Skype). I made these changes on the MS Account page online. Theoretically, since my SP4, S3 and 950XL are all signed in with that account, the profile pic on each should change. Well, it happens quickly on the S3, but not so on the SP4 and the phone and also on Skype (across the devices). What accounts for this delay which, as of now, is running past 48 hours and how to fix it?Thanks in advance.Edit: Also, when I open Edge, since I am always signed into my primary Outlook account, it should show the updated profile pic, but it does not. Any ideas why?edited by moderator: removed spam links

Myspace we got a problem, a huge one that is. You might have heard about the vulnerability that allowed anyone to view pictures that have been set to private at Myspace ? You might have also heard that the vulnerability got fixed pretty fast by Myspace. Unfortunately though not fast enough because someone was able to run an automated script that leeched the pictures of more than 44000 private profiles before the security hole was fixed.
And those pictures, with a zipped size of more than 17 Gigabyte, made their way to a very famous torrent site, named The Pirate Bay. It has been uploaded on January 20th to the website and is currently having six seeders and more than a thousand leecher who download the package.
If you want it search for tribalwar at The Pirate Bay and you will find it. The story has not been posted on big news sites yet but it will surely pick up speed once more blogs report about this. This once again confirms my position of not posting pictures and other personal information on the Internet..

I have found this BUG in Micrososft Word 2007, that I consider to be a SERIOUS ISSUE for Microsoft Office Suite.

If you copy an image from a website and paste in the Word file, the image pastes successfully the first time,
but as you go on & paste other images from the site,
the first image is repeated over and over again, in place of other images (which have the same dimensions).
All other text data remain same, the image titles remain same, but only the image is repeated over and over

PLZ SOMEONE...
HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?

MY MICROSOFT WORD 2007 Spec:
Microsoft? Office Word 2007 (12.0.4518.1014) MSO (12.0.6514.5000)
Part of Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007

Answer:Microsoft Office Word 2007 picture paste Bug *same picture is repeated

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I would not advise pasting images in doc files like that,
I would use ms Paint to paste or save picture as
I would really recommend using the windows snipping tool to get the images that way no bugs are being transferred to the machine or programs,
Then use the Insert image option in word...
It's just a safer way to do an operation,
Cheers.

I get a simular problem when I log on/start the computer. It doesnt just log straight on, it asks for a password in a simular box/layout. (which I dont have so i leave it blank)

Any help would be wonderful

Thanks

Answer:No profile picture in start menu and wierd log on/off menus

For the second one, you may have the welcome screen disabled. Go to control panel (classic view), user accounts, change the way users log on or off, check the box use the welcome screen, and click apply.

For the first one, try switching user picture in user accounts in control panel, then setting it back.

Hi,

The upper right profile picture on the default Startup Page of Microsoft Edge doesn't update.
It keeps displaying the first profile picture I used when I installed Windows 10.

Maybe it's a detail for most of the people but being a nitpicker, and not being given any option to modify it directly (and it should be tied to the Microsoft Account (which I use to login on Windows 10 as well as on Windows 10 Mobile) anyway, right?) it really bothers me!

All my other (tied to Microsoft account) profile pictures, on my phone (Nokia 1020/909) as well as on the online Microsoft services and Windows 10 update correctly, almost instantly, but not this one.

Is that a known issue?
Do you guys have an idea of how to fix it?

Already tried to reset completely the browser by deleting its install folder and registering the app again, following some instructions I found on the internet, but it didn't work and it even messed up my other apps. Had to do a system restore (which only worked partially if I refer to the pop-up message after I logged on, but my apps are OK now and no other problem for the moment). So, my only "problem" remains in that profile picture which doesn't update in the Microsoft Edge Startup Page.

Looking forward for any potential help,
Regards,
Nolan

By the way, do you guys have a valid link to download the WinDbg tool for Windows 10 (not the 8.1 one)?

Answer:Microsoft Edge Startup Page Profile Picture

Hello and welcome to the TenForums

As you say the picture you refer to should update automatically with your MS account. If this is not happening the cache file for that page may be corrupted. In Edge you can try clearing your cache data and files from the Settings menu, via the Clear Browsing Data section. The other thing to try is to check that you have the Sync settings turned on for Internet Explorer. This is found in the main W10 Settings->Accounts->Sync your settings page. Although it says IE it also works for Edge.

Gudday all
My wife rang me up to tell me that our home computer is playing up. The user icon has changed from the daisy icon to the skeleton (skull) icon. This is not the first time is has happened. (My daughter had a picture of our dog as the user icon which changed to the daisy icon.)
All the desktop icons are gone except for the speed/ram meters and the weather widgets that Win 7 has. The start menu appears to be OK and programs can be opened and used.
All she did was just turn the computer on. It turned off last night with no apparent troubles.
The desktop icons will return if I right click on the desktop and check the tick box to display them. But the changing user profile icon has me concerned.

We have Win 7 Home Premium.

Has anyone had these 2 issues? I know that the disappearing desktop icons appears to be rather common. The user icon change occurs without warning.

Answer:User profile picture changes and desktop icons missing

Hi,
I installed the technical preview on my Surface Pro (gen 1), It's great and all. Gets smoother with each update, however, I'd like to revert back to 8.1 pro so I can reserve my copy of Windows 10.
I don't exactly know if the tech preview will auto-update to the full OS when Win10 releases July29 and I've tried to search for an answer to that question and the answers I find refer to Microsoft releasing "ISOs" when the full OS comes out and I don't know how to do those things so that's why I want to revert back and reserve.
This is my first time trying out OS preview builds. I made a USB recovery drive before I installed it though.
I tried using it to refresh my SurfacePro back to windows 8.1 using my USB recovery drive, but the only option I get when it comes to choosing a target operating system to refresh is just windows 10.
Any help with this?
Thanks

First of all, go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft
and copy the Default Account Pictures folder and then rename it to any name, after this open the original Default Account Pictures folder and delete the picture and the data file which belong to the user and try to change accaunt picture

However, my desktop will not relay the audio through the built-in speakers unless I have the HP Picture in Picture software open on the selected HDMI Input. I was wondering if there was a way I am able to bypass using the HP Picture in Picture software. The HDMI Inputs do not show up in the 'Sound' window through the Control Panel in either the Playback or Recording tabs. Thank you!- Bubbyfong

I'm doing some data recovery and have come across lots of duplicate pictures, also a lot of them are obviously broken. It started out as 250,000 pictures from practically the entire life of the hard drive,I've narrowed it down to 10,000 in 9GB of which there are still many broken pictures and duplicates making it almost impossible to browse on a normal hard drive so I can't give back to the user in this state,I'm currently browsing them on a fast SSD.

I'd like to remove all the duplicates by reading the actual picture information and not the files name which most do,I've tried a couple so far and none have found a single duplicate.

I've tried Duplifinder

And

Duplicate-file-finder by Auslistics

I have not used this and I am not sure if it will work on Windows 7 64bit but this program will also check files by binary compare. Might be slow though.

You could rename the files as a batch in a numerical or alphabetical order using some free soft ware. Google 'file renme software'

As a keen flickr member I have a lot of photographs on my computer. These are all neatly allocated to different files, depending upon a variety of variables. So far....all is well.

Yesterday my neighbour kindly upgraded me to Windows 10. Everything seemed fine.

Today I tried to take 4 photographs off my camera and load them up to my computer. Initially I got a dialogue box asking me what I would like to do in future when I plugged in my camera - I said "upload the pix to my computer".

Previously they have always arrived on my desktop in a separate file. I would then edit them, afterwards splitting them up into different files, depending on what I want to do with them.

Anyway, this morning, after taken 4 photographs, I plugged in my camera. I then get a message saying "We found 880 photos. Would you like to import them into your picture folder". And the only alternatives given were IMPORT or CANCEL.

Aggggggggh! I do NOT want all my pix jumbled together in a picture folder. I want them all neatly organised into the folders I have set up.

Is there any way I can get rid of this 'Picture folder' and go back to using my existing folders (they are all still there, and all still containing the photographs they should rightfully contain.)

I would be hugely grateful for some help.

Answer:Picture file trying to over-ride my existing picture files

What happens if you click Import? Does it give you the option to move them into a specific folder or does it just appear in the Pictures folder? Usually, you can just double-click the camera in This PC so that you can see its contents and you can copy over photographs that you want into the locations that you want them in.

Hi everyone..

I'm fairly technical and was a network and tech Director for a few years so have some familiarity with prior Windows versions but Win 7 is a bit new to me. I went to login today, and my login picture had been changed. Looking in Windows Event Viewer under Security, I can see it occurred at 12:25 in the morning. I was on another computer at that time, and running a utility from Microsoft on the PC in question that just collects system information.

I was trying to figure out why it changed and reviewing the event logs. I don't see the reason, only that an account change occurred. I replicated it by changing my picture again to another one, and the same system event occurred confirming its identity.

So basically, I had a flower as the login picture. On its own, it changed to a fish. I didn't make the change. I wasn't even using this machine at that time; however a Windows utility from MS was running -- but -- I reran that same utility tonight (it's one that just reports system usage) and it did not change the picture so I believe that is coincidence.

So my question is, why would Windows 7 change the default logon picture for a user on its own to something else? To help with information the utility that MS had me run was the Microsoft Product Support Reports.

There are also multiple instances on this computer, the one where the picture changed on its own, of another PC that was running Windows 2000 logging into it as a SYSTEM, and then loggi... Read more

First time poster, but I think I've done my homework on this issue. This issue has similar symptoms to a problem with vista: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/130095-user-profile-service-failed-logon-user-profile-cannot-loaded.htmlHowever, it is definitely not the same issue (see further).Current Config:HP dv7-1450.W7 RC 7100 x64Last update (up to date as of 8/31/09) installed succesfully 8/26/09 and should be unrelated to this issue (not verified yet by a pre-update restore).Running with Admin account while diagnosing/troubleshooting.Currently have two working accounts, one standard, one admin.Symptom:New user accounts cannot be logged into.  On an attempted login to the new account, the following information is displayed on the login screen:  "The User Profile Service service failed the logon.  User profile cannot be loaded."  Windows then logs off the operator and returns to the initial user selection screen.  All other aspects of use are normal.Current Diagnostics:First attempts to resolve this problem were to recreate the new account.  This was attempted when logged in as both Standard and Admin.  This was also attempted under safe mode.  This has been attempted with virus protection disabled.  All to no difference in the symptom. The similarity to the Vista issue (linked above) caused me to check the registry entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ for the new profile (as suggested by that link).  Unlik... Great find Flav! While I didn't resolve or have the exact issue 'Brooks-bilson's had, one of the comments on this blog entry (http://www.brooks-bilson.com/blogs/rob/index.cfm/2009/1/5/Fix-for-Vistas-The-User-Profile-Service-service-failed-the-logon-User-profile-cannot-be-loaded#c42AB7AE6-0B26-9AF4-6DB3C7B226C688B4) did have a comment that worked.First I renamed the file "\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\SqmApi\SqmData720896_00.sqm" to \Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\SqmApi\SqmData720896_00.sqm.bakInterestingly, this failed (bolded to help skimming folks).  However, actually moving the file out of the directory (effectively deleting it) did work.  This file was definately related to the problem, but exactly why W7 wasn't able to copy this (such as insufficient permissions or too long name error) is still unresolved.A little bit of information about the process Vista (and presumedly W7) goes through is well laid out in the referenced blog, and I recommend it for education.Unless it pops up again, I'm considering this issue closed and won't be monitoring it.  I hope everyone dealing with this W7 issue finds this helpful. Thanks again, Flav, for the find.D

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to take a photo with the webcam after pressing ctrl+alt+del at logon lock screen while the user sees the interactive logon message informing them there photo was taken by webcam.
And also to log the ip address or the track them? and if they enter the wrong username password 3 times, then to lock the laptop useless, like block the bios, disable usb sort of thing?

I'd just settle for a webcam photo after the ctrl+alt+del plus a time stamp and ip address if possible? Can that be done with gpedit.msc?
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

It all shows up nicely on PC, Macbook Pro, iPhone and iPad.
However, when I post a link to her youtube channel to Facebook, instead of showing my profile picture, it is showing a blue square.
I was hoping to add a picture to show you but it won't let me.

If you can, check to see if they are there when you hook up your phone to a computer. There's a possibility that the SD card is corrupt.
My wife lost a whole bunch of pictures because of that.

Question: Back of picture

You know how you can manage to feed your picture that you got developed into your printer to print on the back of it like you are writing information or a note to someone about the picture...? How do you stop it from running once your print on the back of it.

Like is there a certain way? After a certain period of time it'll ruin.

This is something of an esoteric request. I recently bought a Dell 2405FPW, and hoped to use the PiP functionality to watch movies or DVDs from my desktop whilst playing World of Warcraft.

Unfortunately, Dell doesn't allow you to use Pip for this function, so I thought of replicating the effect with software. I've tried a number of virtual desktop management programs from Download.com, but none seems to allow a virtual desktop WITHIN the desktop itself.

If anyone knows of software that can perform this function, I would be grateful.
