I disabled my Nvidia Geforce GT610 graphics card accidentally and now I can't see a thing

Question: I disabled my Nvidia Geforce GT610 graphics card accidentally and now I can't see a thing

Hey guys, I have searched a lot of forums but haven't found any relevent answers. I am sorry if this is a repeat.

What happened is that I disabled my nvidia graphic card from the control panel and it was too late until I realised my mistake as I had already pressed the restart button. Now I try to start my pc but all that happens is that I hear the sounds I always hear but nothing appears in the screens. I have tried several monitors. I have unhooked the monitor from the nvidia and connected it to the onboard gpu and still no luck. I tried resetting the bios but that didn't help either.

CPU:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 ghz

GPU:

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: I disabled my Nvidia Geforce GT610 graphics card accidentally and now I can't see a thing

You'll not make that mistake again and neither will I. You can't see anything when Windows boots but you know it's there. Maybe there's a way round this but I never found it and ended up reinstalling Windows.

I recently reinstalled windows and replaced my old NVIDEA Geforce 9600GT which finally died with a new Geforce GTX 460. However, when I installed the drivers, it completely disabled my motherboard's onboard Realtek Azalia soundcard, and for the last few days I've had no sound at all. Nothing I've done has fixed the problem, and every time I try to uninstall the drivers for everything relating to my video card, the HDMI audio devices reinstall themselves from no discernible source every single time I boot up like a virus.

I'm about ready to take this pathetic video card back to the shop and demand a refund and get a video card that is not going to screw with my computer like this.

I don't use the single HDMI port on my video card, I use both of my monitors on the DVI ports. I really need some help with figuring out how to get the sound working again through the old audio (output/mic) jacks on the back of the PC to get my speakers and headset working once more.

Answer:New Graphics Card Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 has disabled my sound.

I tried to implement a Nvidia Geforce GT610 into my  M90p Desktop (ThinkCentre 3257, Win 7, 64-bit), but it is not recognized. All Lenovo specific drivers are updated. I can't install the Nvidia driver, because no graphic card is found. The card is not listed by the device manager. Updating hardware changes fail to discover the card. I searched the internet to find out, if the mainboard works with this card, but I couldn't find any viable information Any idea what to do?Thanks.

Sorry for messing about, I'm new to this. The info states that it is a low profile card. Another question (probably stupid). Is the chipset set in stone ie. Will NVIDIA work with the built in AMD Radion set?

So i was on my laptop and i was playing a game i could normally play without lag. I thought my integrated graphics card had something to do with it so i wanted to disable it so i could run the game way better with my nvidia graphics card. I went to device manager and disabled my integrated graphics card. Suddenly, i couldn't open anything anymore so i went to restart my laptop.I restarted it and as soon as it went on i see my laptop's loading screen working, but then when i have to log into my laptop i see nothing but a black screen and my cursor.
I read something on a windows 7 forum earlier about unplugging the battery for a couple of minutes and putting it back in. And so i did that but the black screen is still there.

Answer:Accidentally disabled my internal graphics card

You are likely to have one of those laptops that automatically switch from the onboard graphics to the other graphics adapter as the need arises, and in such cases, boot and start using the onboard graphics.

If you can't get into the BIOS to see if there is any way to reset the onboard graphics, you may be stuck with having to do a complete reinstall to get the display working again.

I recently made a new build with the follow:

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz quad core
Western Digital Caviar Green 500GB
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
MSI P67A-G45 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67
Win 7 Home Premium OEM sp1

Ok so you know what i got, and the MSI Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 graphics card drivers will not work with my system. I think that it is Win 7 cause if i install it in my old desktop it works like a dream and it is running Win XP SP3, and there is no problems at all and I just completed a duel boot with a second hard drive on above system and running xp on it as well and it works fine with it. Any ideas how to make it work? If need more info just post

Answer:MSI Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 graphics card

I assume you are using the Windows 7 driver and not the XP driver on it,

NVIDIA DRIVERS 280.26 WHQL

might be better to go with the one previous as I haven't been seeing much in the way of good reports on the latest,

NVIDIA DRIVERS 275.33 WHQL

Also is this an untouched windows disk, or has it been modified in some way?

Hey, I've been looking for a good but not overpriced graphics card for my new computer, which frankly has a terrible card which comes with it. I was wondering if the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti was any good, the most graphically intensive game I will be running on it is Skyrim.

So do you think it's good, and if so which graphics level (Low, Medium, High, Very High) do you think I'd be able to run it on?

Thanks,

I have probably asked this question before a long time ago.I have reinstalled Wolfenstein on a PC well up to the job of playing the above, on which I am sure I have played before, with Win2K, 256mb of SDRam and a 32mb NVidia GeForce 4 graphics card with a very recent driver, but when I start the game in Single Player mode (the only way I play, being sad and lonely) I get the a dialogue box pop up with a variety of messages, the main heading being:'GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem'. Any ideas ?

I have been using this pc for over 2 years. In the Spring of this year the pc kept crashing. I have found out that the graphics card is reaching temperatures of 105 degrees C when playing games. I have cleaned all the fans in the pc with air.

I have been told the heat sync is probably no longer functioning correctly.

GPU temp is 66 deg C when the pc is in normal use and fan speed 40%.

As soon as I play games the fan goes to 100% and the temperatures rise until the card crashes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:Nvidia geforce graphics card 320 overheating

I was having problems with the Nvidia chip in this laptop. Blowing out and cleaning the fans didn't seem to do any good so I took the advice of others and cleaned off the old thermal paste and applied new. It definitely appears to have help. No laptop shut downs since. I used Arctic MX-4. Search Youtube for instructions.

Also, for peace of mind, I uninstalled any temperature monitoring program.

I have recently been having a few problems with my graphics card running at a high temperature so i read a few things online on how to clean it and then i did so. Now when i start up my computer normally "start windows normally" i get blue screen and the computer re-starts. When i run dxdiag it says i have no graphics card so im not really sure if its broken or if i have re installed it incorrectly.

Any help with what the most likely cause of this would be is greatly appreciated.

Answer:Nvidia geforce 240 gts graphics card issue

Power down and re-seat the graphics card again. If it requires an extra power cord make sure that is connected. If it has a cooling fan attached I'd watch to make sure it spins up.

EDIT: what exactly did you do to clean it?

Hi there

Try the HARDWARE settings on your monitor --you might have to use the handset to get the monitor menu (picture).

There's usually a setting "Auto Scan " / "Auto resize" or similar which should correct the computer W10 image to the correct size. (Aspect ratio setting).

Also set brightness / contrast / colour / sharpening correctly -- makes a HUGE difference. If you have a GAMMA control on the hardware settings use that as it's often better than brightness + contrast combo.

people often forget the hardware menu - especially when using TV's as monitors.

Hello All,

Over the last 2 days I have been trying to install a new graphics card, PNY nvidia GeForce GT 430 on my HP Pavilion Elite m9515y Desktop PC. I removed the previous graphics card (nvidia GeForce 9600 GS) uninstalled the nvidia drivers and ran Driver Sweeper to clean up anything that was remaining. I shut off my anti-virus, selected Windows to ask before updating drivers and to ask before downloading and installing updates. I also visited the nvidia website and downloaded the latest driver 285.62 to my desktop.

Unfortunately, upon installing the GT 430 card I am now envcountering 100% of the time the BSoD shortly after booting up or during driver installation process (both with the installation disk and with the driver I downloaded. This happens both in normal and safe mode.

I have received a number of different messages on the blue screen such as: Page_Fault_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, THE_DRIVER_IS_MISMANAGING_SYSTEM_PTES, etc.

All returns to normal when I put the original card back in. I have attached the requested BSoD dump and system info as well as the system health report (buow-vista.html).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

HELP. I tried uninstalling old nvidia drivers. When I put my new one in, there wasn't an old graphics card in place. I tried youtubing possible solutions. I'm considering taking my pc the best buy so they can hook it up, but I don't wanna spend more money. The power watts meet it's standard. I had to buy a new one. I KNOW it's in the right place inside, but my computer won't detect it. The PNY software DVD won't detect it. It says not found. I understand that you have to install a diver that's compatible, and I tried that, but it says checking system... and then It can't find it! It's been months. I uninstalled every nvidia driver or thing on my computer, which now makes my screen look small, which is really annoying. please help!

Answer:Computer won't Detect Nvidia Geforce 730 Graphics card

You need to tell use more about your computer, what is the make and model of it, what is the model of the motherboard, what is the model of the power supply? What version of Windows?

Is it the Geforce GT 730 you bought or something else? What is the intended use of the new graphics card?

And what graphics card or GPU did you have before adding this card?

Do you have the monitor connected to the new graphics card or do you by chance still have it connected to the integrated graphics that many computer have? It needs to be connected to the new card before turning the computer on.

Have you made sure the card is seated fully in the slot?

Have you tried using the latest drivers from the NVidia website: http://www.geforce.com/drivers

Do you have access to another computer to try the card to make sure its not defective?

I have got a NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 1GB graphics card for my H500s but I cannot get it to work.I have been playing with the BIOS settings with no luck.  The card seems simply not to work, the on board graphics however is working fine. The card is not sending a signal through the VGA port, the monitor shows no signal. The BIOS is set Activate Video: AutoSecure Boot: DisabledBoot Priority: UEFI first.CSM: Enabled I have also downloaded the NVIDIA drivers but the program reports that there is no card.  Also the card does not fit the PCI slot properly, there are pins that don't go in the slot, it seems the PCI slot is too small, is this normal? Have I missed something or do I have a dodgy card. Kind regardsGarry

I have the Asus-N61JV notebook with Nvidia Geforce GT 325M grpahics card on Windows 7 32 bit. I downloaded the version 197.16 driver from Nvidia. By default my notebook detects the driver as standard VGA graphics adapter. The Chip type is detected as ?Intel(R)Ironlake Mobile Graphics ChipSet?. Now when I follow the manual driver installation the message I am receiving is ?Installing this device is not recommended because Windows cannot verify that iy is compatible with your hardware?. ? , I thought of ignoring this message and proceed with the installation but then paused to check if any one else is facing the same problem. Any idea?

Answer:Nvidia Geforce GT 325M graphics card is not detected

Well, if you want to install the latest driver for this graphic card, you can find it here.

NVIDIA DRIVERS 197.16 WHQL

Or you can try the one available on the Asus website.

It should work just fine either way, despite the message.

My Graphics card crashed my system today, After I did a reset I found i could not get to the login screen (It would blue screen). I restarted in safe-mode, Deleted the Nvidia driver then downloaded the current driver. This did not fix the blue screen problem. I then attempted to restore My computer to an earlier setting, Which didn't solve the problem. I then reinstalled window vista and that fixed the blue screen problem but now I'm stuck in 800x600. I've tried many nvidia drivers and they all come up with the blue screen. I did try a 3rd party Driver that solved both the blue screen problem and the 800X600 sizing problem but in all settings above 800x600 the screen had vertical yellow lines running across the screen.Any help? Its fine running webpages on 800x600 but for gaming its pretty fail.

I reformatted my computer about a month ago and while I have the above graphics card installed, it wouldn't work. I downloaded the appropriate driver from Nvidia's home page and while that helped, it doesn't allow me to designate whether my TV is to be a clone etc. In other words I don't have a control panel. The only thing that shows on my TV is the windows theme (no desktop icons even). I've tried several forums and why I didn't start here first I don't know. I have XP Home. I've tried drivers 179.19 and have 71.89 waiting in the wings. Some have said that older drivers work better with older graphics cards. I've uninstalled the card and rebooted to see the computer recognize new hardware and install the driver but it doesn't work. The only thing I haven't done is check the cables.

Answer:- Nvidia geforce FX 5200 graphics card not working

Some always say older works better, some say beta works better, some say modified drivers work better. Unless your benchmarking to brag, the latest stable drivers are your best bet for just about everybody. So we got that out of the way.

What about the motherboard drivers? You didnt say what board so I don't know what you need unless you identify your computer or motherboard.

I thought nVidia was into the 200's on drivers. Try SlimDrivers and get the motherboard and video up to date.

If that fails you might try another video card if you can get one to try and duplicate the problem.

Guys,

Can anyone tell me which drivers to install on my Dell 9400 laptop for best performance? It's just that i've noticed that while watching DVDs or avi files, the clarity on the screen is not what i would expect from the likes of Nvidia... I've been looking on the Nvidia website and there are a few available as well as one called purevideo decoder which you have to pay for. Is that worth buying?

The drivers i have at the moment are Dell/Nvidia ones but i reckon they just don't cut it!

Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks

Answer:Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 graphics card advice

The decoder just lets you watch movies/shows with certain other video types. Download the latest drivers (stable ones, I don't use beta).

Hello…
This is my first time on the forum, thanks in advance for your help.
I have a GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card in a machine that I built and I can’t get the graphic card to work properly. I’ve installed and enabled the drivers – when I reboot the machine, I get the Windows 7 startup screen and then it goes blank. I reboot in Safe Mode – disable drivers – reboot, and it works fine with the integrated onboard drivers. My 6yr old HP monitor is connected to the graphics card using a DVI to VGA adapter (would this cause a problem? I was told no). The motherboard doesn’t have a dedicated video output, so the video I’m getting from integrated drivers is passing through this card. Everything in the machine is working fine except for this problem. I’m not a gamer, but I would eventually like to do video work on this machine and would like to get this card to work properly. In a couple of weeks I will have the opportunity to put this card in another machine but until then is there anything I can do to diagnose the problem?

Answer:Graphics Card Problem - NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS

"Integrated drivers" - I suppose that you mean the generic Windows VGA drivers.

Has your hardware ever worked in Windows 7?

Windows 7 is pretty good at including drivers, but it may not include drivers for your nVidia nForce 570 SLI chipset. (I had that with my nVidia/AMD laptop.)

They're available at www.nvidia.com. Make sure that you get the correct bit depth (32 bit, from what you've posted), and the AMD version (not Intel).

Hi,

I successfully installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit by choosing custom install on my Sony Vaio VGN-NR21S. I didnt delete my Windows Vista Home Edition 32-bit recovery partition.

I am having difficulty in updating the graphics card which is a Nvidia Geforce 8400M GT. I downloaded a desktop 8400 driver from Nvidia site(UK) for me.

I then used the mobility modder tool for Nvidia and it modified the inf file. I then ran the Setup.exe from the Nvidia directory.

The problem is that i keep getting a message saying "The System has not been modified" after running the setup.exe

I then tried the notebook 8400M GT driver from Nvidia site(even though its not supported by Sony) That didnt work.

So i then tried using the Mobility modder on the notebook 8400M driver but the same problem occurs.

I am not confident in modifying the inf file outlined in the following:

LinkNVIDIA Driver - Convert from Desktop to Mobile (Laptop):

Here are my hardware ID's:

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_902D104D&REV_A1

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&CC_0300

if possible could somebody create me an inf file please?

Thanks in advance,

Answer:Problem with updating Nvidia Geforce 8400M GT graphics card

This wasn't what you asked, but -

Can you install the Vista graphics driver?

I had to do something like that with my Compaq notebook (8200M graphics). Since doing that, I was able to get drivers from Windows Update or use the generic nVidia mobile drivers. I can't tell you whether it was necessary, but it may have helped.

Hi everybody. I recently finished my first build, and am currently trying to work though some problems that I hope someone can help me with.

So as soon as I got it working I decided to test out my games. Hitman Blood Money, and Left4Dead worked perfectly fine. I decided next logical test would be Team Fortress 2. When that started up it worked initially. After a few minutes and graphical tweaks it started trying to redisplay the game. It flipped out, stopped displaying text and buttons, and then only displayed 4 slightly different colored giant squares on the screen. I hit alt+F4, and ctrl+alt+delete to try and get out, which didnt work. The computer just restarted on its own.

Luckily it started back up without a hitch, so I tried Garry's Mod. Same thing happened. At this point i decided to reinstall the graphics drivers. After that finished I tried again, same thing happened. This time i was fortunate enough to alt+F4 out in time, so it didnt restart. After this I decided to look towards my Nvidia options for the answer.

I changed the refresh rate to 75 hertz (Highest Option), and changed the performance settings from "Quality" to "Performance".

After this, again, I tried TF2 and it finally worked! ... temporarily. I got into a game and it seemed to work great, until I exited out and a new problem arrose. The previous problem only happened in games, but this one was both in and out of them. This one was leaving stray pixels on the screen whenev... Read more

Anyway, If any of your think this is more a game issue, could you please tell me. That way I can move onto the steam forums instead. I think it belongs here though, because to me it seems like more of a hardware issue

If it is a problem with my graphics card then I'll need to know before the end of the month so I can ship it back to newegg for a replacement so please if any of you have any idea (Even a slight idea) I would greatly appreciate it.

GeForce GTX 970 settlement website opens, Nvidia will pay graphics card owners $30

Nvidia?s paying the price for the GeForce GTX 970?s memory controversy?literally. The GTX 970 refund website is now live after Nvidia agreed to pay GTX 970 owners $30 each to settle a class action lawsuit.

The false advertising lawsuit stemmed from a pair of hardware inconsistencies that prompted a not-quite-apology from Nvidia?s CEO. The most obvious is the GeForce GTX 970?s notorious 4GB RAM allotment, which Nvidia split into a full-speed 3.5GB segment as well as a drastically slower 512MB segment without telling customers. The company also erroneously claimed the card had 64 render output units while in reality it had just 56.

Well, some of those users. You?re eligible only if you purchased a GeForce GTX 970 graphics card from Nvidia, its add-in card partners (like EVGA and Asus), or an authorized retailer between September 1, 2014 and August 24, 2016, and only in the U.S. You might also be eligible if you purchased a desktop computer with a GTX 970 from an authorized retailer in that time frame.

Don?t dilly-dally if you?re eligible. You must file a claim by November 8 if you plan on cashing in. The court is expected to approve the settlement in December.

Today I bought a Geforce 6200 graphics card because my computer met all the requirements. When I installed in my computer and turned the power on there was a beeping noise and the computer screen was black. I don't know what I did wrong. My guess is my computer is not compatible or somethings up with the card or dirvers, I really don't know since this is my first time installing a graphics card. The requirements of this graphics card is: petium 4/III/II/celeron, AMD K6/Athlon. An Agp 8x or 4x motherboard. 256mb of memory at least. windows xp. a minimum of 250w power supply.
I have a AMD Sempron 3100+ 1.8ghz, an agp slot 3.0, 8x. a 250watt power supply. and windows xp. If you could help me out in any way I'll be very greatful. Thank you for your time.

Answer:Problems installing Nvidia Geforce 6200 agp graphics card

Power cable out
Push in the on switch (releasing all internal voltage)
Touch the frame of the computer (inside - and don't shuffle your feet -antistatic issue)
Take the card back out
Boot up with original onboard video
Go to system bios
Confirm 1st startup set to AGP
Change the meg to 256
Save and exit
Turn off the computer
Reseat the AGP card (push in securely - goes in a long way)
Put the monitor back to the AGP
Power cable back in
Turn back on

hey there,

so i've got this new nvidia geforce 6200 agp graphics card. i've fitted it into my motherboard and now i need to install it on my computer but the cd that was supposed to come with package is missing. i bought the card from a compusa closing sale so i can't return it and get one with the installation cd included. when add hardware wizard pops up it says "the hardware was not installed because the wiard cannot find the necessary software." the installation cd includes: geforce drivers for microsoft, microsoft directx 8.0 and 9.0, nvidia demos and desktop wallpapers. can i just go to nvidias website and download a driver and directx9 then direct the hardware wizard to those downloads instead of the missing installation cd? what should i do?

i have a geforce fx 5200 8x agp 128 mb graphic card. it worked fine for me for about an year. but now suddenly only 64 mb of video ram is detected by my system. i checked the 'dxdiag' dialogue box and it also shows only 64 mb of video ram. reinstalling the drivers, the card itself and tweaking different bios settings has not worked for me. what to do? how can this happen? can a part of video card memory just die like this? if not, then what can i do to restore the 'hidden' 64 mb of it? any answers, suggestions etc. will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Answer:GeForce Nvidia fx 5200 128mb graphics card, only 64 mb is detected?

I haven't looked up the specs on your card, but usually they are split in two ie 64 + 64 = 128Meg . Even though it's only one card.
I know my 512Meg Vid card does this. It reports two cards in Device Manager as 256M (even though it's only one card)

I don't know all the ins and outs, but I suppose it's faster doing it this way

Regret if this sounds like an entry-level problem: I've been trying to install a PNY GeForce 5200 graphics card (PCI format) for my son's video game use on my XP system and keep getting a black screen after the Microsoft start-up visuals appear once I reboot. I've double-checked that the card is installed securely in the PCI slot, and connected the monitor to correctly to the VGA plug on the new card, per the instructions, but after rebooting, it always returns to a black screen after the Microsoft graphics intro.

Last night I reattached the monitor to the normal VGA connection and checked out the internet for any info on troubleshooting this installation process, and saw a few remarks from users who had bought the GeForce 5200 on Amazon that the instructions were incomplete and that the existing graphics card has to be disabled or uninstalled before the new card can be properly installed (stands to reason, but the PNY instructions don't provide any directions for the beginner).

If anyone has any experience in installing this type of card sucessfully on their XP system and can offer any simple steps to disable/uninstall the current graphics card, it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, IMsci

Hello all, I'm looking for a bit of insight from anyone here who might've seen this problem before or knows what is up. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, restarting, etc. When I disable the 1080 in the laptop, the problem ceases. I just bought this laptop 3 weeks ago from Amazon, so I'm trying to figure out if this is a simple fix or do I need to get a refund.

Text disappears at random on the screen, there are random colors stretched across the screen from a lot of images/colors and in game there are black lines flying around the screen stemming from character models/textures in game. I don't have a second monitor ATM to try.

Here are some images of what happens.

I have a Lenovo Y570 laptop, running Windows 8 64 bit. It's about a year old. I have both Intel HD and Nvidia Geforce 555M graphics cards. I installed Windows 8 on it myself several months ago; it originally came with WIndows 7 64 bit. I updated all the drivers at that time. Recently - and I'm not sure how recently - the Nvidia card has been coming up with Code 43. It's disabled in the Device Manager because of this, and when I try to bring up the Nvidia control panel, it gives me some error that I can't reproduce now since I completely wiped Nvidia from my computer in an attempt to reinstall it. I uninstalled the driver in the Device Manager and then scanned for hardware changes to reinstall it. It seemed to work for a few minutes, then came up with Code 43 again. I rebooted my computer after wiping all the Nvidia files. (There also didn't appear to be any Nvidia Chipset files. I don't know what that means, but it seems significant since there's an Intel chipset.) Then I grabbed the 314.07 Geforce 555M drivers from the Geforce website after not finding them on the Lenovo website, and I ran the .exe file. I didn't change the extraction path. I selected custom installation so I could run a clean installation. It appeared to install normally for several minutes. It said it was uninstalling a previous version, and then prompted a reboot. (When I tried installing it previously, before I wiped all the files, it didn't try to uninstall anything or reboot.) INSTALLATI... Read more

Answer:Graphics card for Asus M4N68T-M-LE-V2 AMD motherboard apart from GeForce 7025/Nvidia?

Re: Graphics card for Asus M4N68T-M-LE-V2 AMD motherboard apart from GeForce 7025/Nvi

This would actually have been better suited for the hardware forum, but since you need a video card for gaming I'll do my best to help you out.

First off, video cards for PCIe slots will fit in your board, so that part is easy. The question then becomes, what games do you want it to be able to handle? You mention Hell's Highway, but are there others you want to play as well? Your onboard video is good for being onboard, but at the same time there are a lot of dedicated cards that will be an improvement from what you have now. So do you want a short term fix, or are you looking to get a card that will get you set for a couple of years before you need to upgrade again?

Looks like you do have a PCI express X16 slot for a card.
The 6150 is integrated.
That 250 watt power supply is weak, even for a 9400GT.

I recently purchased a Zotac GeForce 8800GT Graphics card for my gateway that has a C51G+MCP51 mobo. When i tried to install the graphics card in the PCI-express slot it would not go all the way down because there is a part on the mobo that blocking it from going all the way down. I believe that piece bloking my card is called a compactor. My question is does anyone know a way that i can get around this without having to buy a new mobo? I have a picture of my mobo stored on my computer, but am not quite sure how to post it up.

Hi guys,
Dumb question alert...what are my graphics card upgrade possibilities for the XPS 8900?
Presumably, that's limited by the motherboard and other factors?
Enlighten me! :-)
Why is it that when I buy a 1500 euro pc on the French Dell site, I can't have an easy upgrade path PRESENTED TO ME when I log on? I mean, I want to buy their products - does Dell not want that?!
Don't understand it. It should be part and parcel of the pc-buying experience.

Answer:Dell XPS 8900, with NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 960 2GB DDR5 // what are my upgrade options on the graphics card?

You can upgrade to any of the GTX 960/970/980/980ti or GTX 1060/1070/1080 cards.
At some point a power supply upgrade is needed.
There is debate which cards need a new PSU.
My opinion is a GTX 970 or higher 9xx card or a GTX 1070 or higher card needs an upgraded PSU.
Others have reported 970 and 1070 have worked with the stock PSU.
I don't trust a $400 graphics card on the factory PSU so I upgrade them.
I run Seasonic X-650 PSUs in two 8700s ( same case and nearly identical power demand as the 8900).
So the choice is somewhat budget driven.
A GTX 1060 is a great card for 1080p gaming, but a 1070 is better.
970 and 980 cards are falling in price so there are good deals to be found.
hope this helps.

Hi, I hope someone might be able to help me I have a Dell DImension 8300. THe graphics card that came with the system was the Nvidia geforce 5200. A few days ago my screen started going weird, garbled, turning black, locking up system etc. Went through Dell **** support, was told my graphics card was bad. Ordered a new one, and while waiting, tried uninstalling Nvidia drivers and downloaded most current drivers. Did not work, same issues, probably worse. New card came (ATI Atlantis RADEON 9000 128MB) Followed directions, uninstalled drivers for old card, replaced card, but now my monitor would not work at all, yellow light, no video input. Reinstalled the old card, and reinstalled drivers, same problem as before. THe only way I can get the old card to work is to totally uninstall all drivers for the card, and of course, my display is a little wonky. Any ideas what the reason could be that the new Radion card will not work? Or why the Nvidia drivers are creating problems, even though updated?  When I did call Dell back, they told me I needed a new motherboard. I don't think that is the case?.

Lenovo seems to be lagging behind in getting updated graphics drivers from Nivida to its loyal customers.  So I went to the Nvidia site and looked.  The date on my driver is 12/16/2008.  When I let nvidia scan my system it reports that it is driver 179.30.  The latest for the 105m is 186.  And to add insult to injury Nvidia says "The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site."  Sooooooo....... I have two questions: 1)  for Lenovo - when do you expect to release a new Nvidia driver for us? 2)  for other (apparantly) forgotton loyal Lenovo cusoters like myself: .....Has anyone gone ahead and installed the Nvidia driver?  Does it work?  Are there problems?  How did you get around them? Ok sorry - that's more than 2 questions.  :-)  But I think you get my drift. Brassie

Answer:Graphics driver from Nvidia for my SL500 with the Nvidia Geforce G 105m?

I had the same board. It doesn't come with the GMA X3100 (DX 9.0c GPU) but only comes with GMA 3100 (DX 9.0b GPU).

The GT 610 isn't really worth the upgrade at all.

I shouldn't even be recommending these cards below because they're not worth the money for a guy that will be building his computer or even for HTPC, Yes some SFF chassis will fit in a full-size card but the motherboard and other parts on it are lying in a landscape position and yours is in portrait so it can only fit a Low-Profile graphics card.

I've noticed that in the games I've been playing, most notably Guld Wars 2, the games always reccomend that I run everything in the lowest graphic setting. I recently updated to Windows 10, but I was having this issue before that as well. In my device manager, it says that" Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" for my Nvidia GeForce GT 755M. I've tried updating the driver, updating the Intel graphics driver, rolling back the same Intel driver, and uninstalling and reinstalling the GeForce. I can't update the BiOS because I'm running Windows 10 and can't roll back at this point. What should I do?

I've been using this card with Windows 7 64-bit for over 6 months now, and I've never had this problem. I used device manager to update my graphics card driver last night, and ever since the update, Aero has been disabled. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it manually from Nvidia's site, but that didn't fix the problem. I've also checked to make sure I have the latest version of DirectX. That didn't help either. Any ideas on what could be wrong? I know I could roll back the driver, but I'd like to be able to use future updates. Thanks.

What is the big difference between Graphics Intel® HD Graphics 4400 or NVIDIA GeForce 820M 2GB ?

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:Graphics Intel® HD Graphics 4400 or NVIDIA GeForce 820M 2GB

Intel® HD Graphics 4400 is a low and weak graphics card not suitable for demanding and powerful games. It's used for other applications or softwares such as google chrome, or minesweeper, anything that doesn't require huge processing. The Nvidia GeForce is more powerful, high performance, has tons of GPU power to make sure the game is playable. If you want to start a game always make sure it's played using the Nvidia Geforce. To do that simply right click > run with graphics processor > high performance nvidia processor.

O... Here's my dillema.   My HP NVIDIA card (HP p/n 466762-001 rev:M03) in my HP Model: 9520f Windows 7 Ultimate machine failed.   I replaced it with an ASUS NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT card (p/n 5188-8004, asus p/n C403H) that came from a spare HP Pavillion Model a6150y Vista machine I had on hand. The initial VID/Graphics card failure and susequent replacement caused much havock with Windows and some other stuff (ie, not booting/loading Windows etc...) and after much effort I was able to get everything loading & working reasonable well again.   But the problem I'm still having is with the old drivers (removing them and all their remnants) and loading the new drivers for the ASUS NVIDIA card that is now in my machine.  I've tried normal uninstalls as well as the GURU 3D.com DDU uninstall.  I think (and it appeares) that all the old NVIDIA drvers and other software has been uninstalled because I can not find any of it in the normal locations.   But I am still unable to install the NVIDIA 8500GT drivers for the ASUS card from the NVIDIA site or even the NVIDIA drivers/software updates that Windows Update has detected and suggested in Windows updates.  The insalls start out fine but soon fail to complete. Evidently I (and my brother who was in my machine remotely for a good 6 hours because he is an IT/Computer tech and is ten times more knowledgable than I on this) are missing something very... Hi
The original NVIDIA Geforce GTX 240 card that came with my Dell machine died last week and after looking round I concluded that a GT 610 with 2GB memory should be a suitable (and cheap) replacement for what I need. However after multiple attempts I am still unable to get it to work, and keep getting error messages about needing to load the GPU driver.

Using the drivers on the installation disk with the card I get a barely usable monitor screen - v low resolution. Updating with the latest driver from ASUS doesn't help, but using the latest one on the NVIDIA site (from Dec 2015) is a bit better, although the display is distorted and cannot play video.

In all cases it claims the driver has loaded successfully, but in Control Panel the device is showing as stopped.

I have tried updating the BIOS to the latest version from Dell (A05) but it has had no effect. I have tried removing and reinstalling the card, removing and reinstalling the drivers but with no result. I initially forgot to remove the old NVIDIA GTX240 drivers but after going back and trying that, before installing the GT 610 drivers it still won't work

Is this card actually compatible with a Dell XPS 8100?

Hi. It's been a few years since I've been here to Major Geeks. Since my last visit, I bought a new laptop.

1st the specs, as you will probably will need:
HP Envy... Model 15t-J100
Windows 8.1 (64 bit) (not by choice & I hate it, but that's for another time!)
(Do you need anything else?)

Here's my issue:
Each time I go to install a new GeForce driver update for my video card, it starts to work fine, but then about 1/2 way through the install, Windows crashes & I get the dreaded BSOD. (Yes, I've even tried doing a clean install, still same effect!)

However, once it's booted back up, I go to the display under device manager & it shows the driver is up to date. *sighs*

So, then I try to go to the Nvidia control panel to make sure the Nvidia card is the default, NOT the Intel card... but that's when I get a wlMerger.exe error message.

Last time I had this issue, I found if I did GeForce / Nvidia's recommended install, instead of a custom install (where I can select clean install)... it worked... and I could access Nvidia control panel, without a problem.

But, this most recent update, I tried doing the recommended way 1st... however, it failed, as mentioned above.

I've tried researching how to fix this problem & so I won't have it again... but everything I look at has different solutions.

My question for you Geeks.. is what is the proper way to fix this and keep it from happening again, th... Read more

Hi. My GT610 recently broke after about 4 years and I am going to replace it but I would like to know if my PSU would be able to handle a small upgrade.
Here is my PSU
click here have had my eyes on a GTX 750TI but after some some google searches I have found out that my PSU would not be good enough due to my PSU wattage only being 300W and my +12V rail 12A not being good enough I think. I'd like to know if this is actually true. And if it is true then what would be the biggest possible upgrade my PSU could take?
Current Specs:
Zoostorm,
Mini tower Form Factor,
Windows 8.1 64 Bit,
Intel Core i5-3330 Processor 3.20 GHz,
Nvidia GT 610,
4GB RAM,
Hard Drive 500 GB,
DVD-RW Optical Drive
I know the specs are far from amazing but I have been very satisfied gaming with these specs but it would be good if I could have a little bit better of a graphics card. Anything that is a bit better than the GT 610 would be great. So yeah, any suggestions on something a bit better than a GT610 that my PSU can handle would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The WIN10 compatibility check informed me that our Compaq Presario CQ53320F desktop with integrated NVidia GeForce 6150E nForce 430 graphics and 3GB ram running WIN7 required upgrades for WIN10. It's the kid's computer, not a gamer - and I've already bought one new machine so I wanted to upgrade this one. I installed a EVGA NVidia GeForce GT610 gpu, PCIe 2.0 and current driver ver. The motherboard has PCIe x16 expansion slot and appeared compatible. But in WIN7, I?m getting a ?Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode Driver? error followed by black or distorted graphics screen and cpu freeze. I pointed Bios to PCIex16 adapter. Hey there. I am what you would probably call a graphics card n00b. I know that big numbers = good and integrated = bad, but that's about it.

Anyway, I recently bought this laptop that claims to have an nVidia Geforce Go 7300 in it. The reason I liked this was because the spec in the shop said that it has 256MB of dedicated graphics. "Awesome" I thought, and all the other specs were way above what I was looking for, and it was in the price range, so I got it. In fact, here it is:
http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=362182&tab=specification#spec

Anyway, looking at dxdiag it says I've got 512MB of Video Memory "Integrated RAMDAC". Now, when I was searching for laptops (before I got this one) in PC World I came across this:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/st...u=176555&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null
Which I thought looked fine. I assumed that because it said it had an nVidia graphics card that it would be dedicated. I went to look at it in the shop, called up dxdiag and it says it has 256MB of Video Memory. So I asked the staff, and they thought it probably meant it was 128MB dedicated, 128MB shared. Then I spoke to someone else in PC World and it turns out that it does say somewhere on th... Read more

I need help with what the best driver is for my 460m since the ones I have been trying out have constantly crashed my laptop so far, even the newest version listed on nvidia's website.

Answer:What's best driver for Nvidia GeForce 460m graphics?

I believe the best driver you can use for your graphic card is the one you get from Nvidia?s home page itself. At their site it helps you to either automatically find the right driver for your card, or by manually searching the driver for your card. Usually the beta drivers cause problems, such as crash as they are not completely finished, and its best to wait until they are completely developed.

Hi there!
After my computer (a desktop not a laptop) was repaired after some issues on it I tried to play some games (Rome 2 Total War and some other) and encountered some delays when trying to play them. When I looked into it I discovered that the games used Intel HD Graphics 3000 instead of Nvidia Geforce gtx 680. So I tried to switch from Intel to NVIDIA. After reading some articles on this in the internet I deactivated the Intel graphics card in the device manager hoping that it would automatically switch to the other graphics card the NVIDIA card this way. But this did not happen instead the screen turned black and I?m now not able to even get to Windows or my BIOS settings. How can I fix this? Do I first have to reactivate Intel before I can switch to NVIDIA and if so how or is there a possibility to directly acces NVIDIA instead?

Looking forward for suggestions on how to solve this

Finn

Answer:How to switch from Intel HD Graphics 3000 to NVIDIA GEFORCE 680

Normally, Windows uses whichever video is detected by the BIOS (and if the BIOS detects a video card usually it will switch to that card).

Since this was serviced, check the power connection to the Video card (if it has one). Could be it was disconnected by the service tech during service and was not reconnected. If the card is still installed, the PCIe power connection is needed or it will not be detected or work.

Also, if you switch Video from the internal to a separate video card, you must physically switch the Monitor connection to the Video card.

Currently experiencing some sporadic problems with this driver. Basically, I get pink/purple artifacts across the screen and then the system locks up. Sometimes it is able to recover, but sometimes it automatically reboots. It's not the card, as it is working perfectly in the other OSes with the latest appropriate drivers.

Been checking the NVidia forums about this, and I'm not the only one with this problem: Windows 8 Graphic Glitch - NVIDIA Forums and Windows 8 Consumer Preview Geforce Desktop/Notebook Driver Information - NVIDIA Forums - Page 6 describes the symptoms I'm getting perfectly.

It should be pointed out though that issues were present with the graphics drivers with the Beta versions of Windows 7 as well (not necessarily the same issues, but issues nonetheless). Hopefully, these will be ironed out over time.

I had no problems with the installation and the computer is much faster. However, we are a non profit and do a lot of Powerpoint (Microsoft Office 2007) presentations for fundraisers and I notice this morning that we've lost some functionality options within the software (fades, wipes, etc.) and the transitions are choppy and poor? Yes I would try to disable it. If that doesn't help try to remove any of the old video drivers. My computer wont show the onboard card with my Nvidia card plugged in. So I had to take out the new Nvidia card uninstall all video drivers, put the Nvidia card back in and reinstall the Nvidia drivers. May not be the cause but good place to start.
