Create an association for sending an .rtf document by emai

Question: Create an association for sending an .rtf document by emai

I select any .rtf documents in the 'Documents' section of File Explorer' (recently transferred from an old XP laptop to this new Notebook), right click on it, select 'Send to' > 'Mail recipient' & I get an 'Email' dialog box opening up saying: ..........if an email program is already installed create an association in the Default Programs control panel. I have read several items regarding this & still haven't figured it out. My email program was set up by Virgin Media who is my ISP broadband supplier & my email source. They did it by remote control. I asked them what the title of this email system is & they told me 'Mail' for Windows 8. In simple terms how do I exactly do this in the Control Panel Default Section? Thanks for any assistance.

Preferred Solution: Create an association for sending an .rtf document by emai

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Can anyone help - When typing a word document my laptop keeps sending the document when I start typing. Not sure why. Any help appreciated

Answer:When typing a word document my laptop keeps sending the document

Hello

I don?t know what you mean with laptop keeps sending the document but if you have this issue with office word or some other office application, try to check some forum where you can find discussion about similar theme.

I can not give you any precise answer but it is maybe because of office specific settings or you press accidentally some key on the keyboard and on this way interrupt symbols entering.

hello :

i want to create a survey form in Word format. i have 2 challenges here.

1. i want to create an radio button like excel one.
how can i do it ? (user restricted to select 1 option only)
some users suggest to use frame but i was not able to create it successfully. (still cannot select multi options)
can anymore give me more in details?

2. i want to create a button/icon in the survey form whereby it will capture the survey data in the document and then it will generate an email from the outlook apps. the email also includes To: email address + subject line as well. seen a difficult task here...

cheers
fatchai.

Answer:how create "send emai" button in Word ?

You need to add option buttons from the control toolbar in Word. If you have more than one set of radio button options then you will need to embed the objects within a frame. If you want to use a button to generate an email you will need to use some VBA code for this. The problem you will face is that some users will not have macros enabled in their program. The will affect functionality and make the users confused. Here is a link that you may find helpful

How do I associate opening a TIF file within Internet Explorer v6.0 with "Microsoft Office Document Imaging" on Windows XP?

Here's the scenario.

Within Windows Explorer on Windows XP, I can double click on a *.tif file and Microsoft Office Document Imaging will open and display the *.tif file. This works fine and as expected. The file association is correct.

But, I'm viewing a database application (Onyx Employee Portal v5.0) that uses Internet Explorer as an interface. Within this Internet Explorer interface, there is a link to a *.tif file. When I click on the link, another Internet Explorer window appears, I see the QuickTime logo appear for a second, then the TIF file appears within the Internet Explorer window. But, I don't want to view the TIF file with Internet Explorer. I want to view the TIF file with Microsoft Office Document Imaging. How do I make my computer understand this?

Thanks,
Dave

Answer:TIF file association with Microsoft Office Document Imaging

Its because its not really tif you are opening. If you are clicking a link to the tif then you are really opening a hyperlink more so than a tif file. So what you could so is right click on the link and do a "Save target as" then save the tif to your desktop which would then open it properly.

It took a awhile but after taking the computer in and having people look at it, my previous problem has been fixed. But after getting back home, I noticed that emails with normal attachments don`t how up. I get a message :
" This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in "My Programs" by clicking "View" and then clicking "Folder Options" ".
After the problems I just went through and the cost, I`m a little gun shy when it comes to this. Is there something that should stand out in the "File Types" or in the "View" tab? I noticed this problem before I took the computer in for the "ATT*****.htm problem.

Answer:Create an Association

If they reinstalled the OS without deleting anything, then you might need to reinstall the program necessary to open those attachments.
You can reassociate files quickly by selecting file, while holding the SHIFT key and select OPEN WITH...
Find the program that would open that particular file and select it.
You can click the "always open with this program to open this file type".
*** Be careful to choose the right program *** it can sometimes cause headaches afterwards.

Let us know what files you are having problems with and I can suggest some programs.

Question: Create association

I have Windows Vista Premium installed on a ASUS P5VD2 computer. A problem developed some weeks ago where I could not open links or do downloads such as update Java. I got the message " This file does not have a file associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel".
Another problem was that I could not get the drop down list for options on Internet Explorer 7. I took the computer to a shop and they installed Internet Explorer 8 and that solved the drop down list issue. I thought the File association problem was solved and I did open some links (forgotten which ones).
Yesterday I found I could not open any links. My service provider technical help took over my computer but could not solve the file association problem.
Can anyone suggest why this problem developed and is there a solution. The association message has an address http://emarketer.omnilogic.net/link php?M=1811737&N=383&L=930&F=H whatever that means. Any help would be appreciated. GordonHS

I need to create a reg key to change Microsoft Office Document Imaging files association to to MODI, instead of their curent broken association.

I know I can do the same thing by changing the association through the properties of the file, but I need an easy way to roll it out to a lot of users.

What I have tried so far, with no luck was the following:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.mdi]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.mdi\OpenWithList]
"a"="steam.exe"
"MRUList"="ba"
"b"="MSPVIEW.EXE"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.mdi\OpenWithProgids]
"TIFImage.Document"=hex(0):
"MSPaper.Document"=hex(0):
"Photoshop.TIFFFile.10"=hex(0):
"Photoshop.TIFFFile.9"=hex(0):

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.mdi\UserChoice]
"Progid"="MSPaper.Document"
I would also rather export and import from 1 good reg key and use that in all the new ones, rather than writing a new key myself.

Thanks!

A few months ago, my computer crashed, and I sent it out to be repaired. It came back repaired after reinstalling the Windows program, if a bit disjointed (I was missing some files and such, nothing big). It worked smoothly for about two months, and I turned it on one day and tried to open a program, but this box came up and I went to the Folder Option control panel. Beyond that, I've got no idea what to do.

I can't execute or download files or programs (like Adobe Reader), and when I try pulling my pc games up, the computer will hum like it's loading, then nothing will happen. For everything else I have to do: right click -> run as -> current user / uncheck "protect my computer and adata from unauthorized program activity". Some programs will not run unless I've got that checked, and then it will only run the basics.

I was wondering if this was something simple and easily fixed, because I've put this computer in the shop and spent a couple hundred dollars on it already, and I really don't have much more money to repair this. Thanks to anyone who has any clue what I'm talking about.

Answer:How Do I "Create an association" in the Folders..?

Before you can do anything you need to know what program is supposed to open the file and you must also have it installed on your PC. If you are ok on both these requirements then the easiest way is to right-click the file, choose 'Open With' and 'Choose Program' from the menu. Now either highlight the program in the list or use the Browse button to find it. Before clicking on OK put a tick in the box labelled 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.If you don't know the program to use then post back with the extension of the file and someone may recognise it.

The e-mails that I have mentioned that I can not open, are all to do with the extension .pps (Microsoft Power Point Slide Show). I have gone to - control panel/default programs/ set associations. There it says to click the extension that currently opens it by default. It asks if you want to change programs and if so to click the "Change Program" button. It then gives a list of programs. I'm not sure what to do next or which program I should choose without complicating anything.

Thank-you

I'm using the default Windows Mail as email client in Windows 8.1.

Besides that I'm using LibreOffice as my word processing application and get an error message when I try to use the "Send As Email" option from within a LibreOffice document. Apparently it is necessary to set an association in Windows 8.1 to use Windows Mail as default MAPI application. However, for that it would be necessary to find the actual application file for Windows Mail - and I cannot find this.

Is it possible to create a MAPI association for Windows Mail in Windows 8.1 or could it be that Windows Mail is not a MAPI application?

Answer:How to create a MAPI association in Windows 8.1?

Yes. You do it in default programs. Suggest doing it from the Desktop mode. As for sending files that you have created in Libre Office. It is better to just attach the file to the email, then doing it within the program you have created the file in.

You will also find that using Mozilla's Thunderbird is a more robust email program, then using Microsoft's Windows email.

The above title is what I googled. The answers seemd to suggest that the problem lay w/ (guess what?) the OS - VISTA, 32- & 64-bit applications.

The Googled title to this message IS the error message when I click "Open" on the PP attachment to an otherwise benign eough appearing e-mail from a regular emailer.

What I have found out by Googling as I did is that MS DOESN'T APPARENTLY CARE ENOUGH ABOUT ITS PRODUCTS TO MAKE IT EASY FOR THE CONSUMER TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK ABOUT GLITCHES TO DESIGNERS OF EITHER THE OS OR THE PRODUCT.

Can someone please tell me how to either fix the problem of not being able to open .doc or .pps attachments w/ Windows Mail, in a Vista OS & w/ MS Office 2007 installed on a recent (Feb 2008) Toshiba Satellite series notebook OR how to successfully communicate this frustrating malfunction to MS? (assumiing they wish to do something about it !)

Answer:create assoc in the set association control panel

Hi danlbel. . .

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum - Vista Support!

If you are looking to simply associate a program with a file extension then:
START | Control Panel | Defaults

Installed programs should set their own file associations. Also, I am unfamiliar with the term "pps".

Good Luck to you. . .

Have been using a Lenovo ThinkPad X200 with Windows 7 for some time. During the past week, the system has been preventing the opening of both files and folders. In particular, I use Dropbox. When I click on Dropbox from my Desktop, it shows up with the file list etc - when I click on a file or folder, the following message appears:
"THIS FILE DOES NOT HAVE A PROGRAM ASSOCIATED WITH IT FOR PERFORMING THIS ACTION. PLEASE INSTALL A PROGRAM, OR IF ONE IS ALREADY INSTALLED, CREATE AN ASSOCIATION IN THE DEFAULT PROGRAMS CONTROL PANEL
Would much appreciate step-by-step instructions on how to resolve this problem as soon as possible as it giving me serious difficulties.
Many thanks.

Answer:Create an association in the default programs control panel

Try this fix: FolderFix

Unzip the fix and extract the .REG file to the Desktop. Right-click the .REG file and choose Merge. Note that you need to be an Administrator to apply this fix.

Reboot the computer.

If the fix only opens as a text file, right-click it and select Open With > Choose Program... Then, select the Registry Editor.

If the Registry Editor is not in the list, browse to C:\WINDOWS and select regedit.

When attempting to look at some attachments I get the message 'This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel'. Looking in Control Panel, Folder, Options causes me confusion. How do I access these attachments (most attachments are not a problem)?

Answer:Outlook Express - Create Association in Fold Opts

What are the file names and in particular what are their extensions? ( The three letters after the dot e.g. .doc .xls .zip)You must be very careful opening anything with .zip or .exe and it is always best to make sure you know who it is from and save it to your hard disk first.

I opened Encarta Encyclopedia 2004 and typed in "Ireland" and clicked. The "Ireland" page appeared and when I clicked on a box titled "Listen to radio from Ireland" I received the following message:

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."

How do I create such an association?

I believe that this problem may have resulted from something I did last night. I downloaded a program called MYIE2 and did not like using it, so I removed it. Afterward when I clicked on my IE desktop icon I received the following message:

Program Not Found
Windows cannot find MYIE.exe. This program is needed for opening files of type 'File.' Type in the executable file to be used instead.

I figure that removing MYIE2 almost certainly caused this problem and may also be the cause of my Encarta problem described above.

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Bill

Answer:How do I create an association in the Folder Options control panel?

You need to install that program again and then remove it cleanly by using the Add/Remove in Control Panel or else follow the instructions in any readme file that comes with it. It should restore the functionality of your Desktop IE icon when uninstalled properly.

Since this problem just started last night, you should try running System Restore and selecting a date earlier than the problem. That would be the easy out.

Hi all,

I don't know if here are adobe acrobat experts, but I'm having a problem.

I made a form in adobe acrobat 9 pro. When I use this form in adobe acrobat 9 pro, it sends the form when clicked on a button.
On several different computers this also works.

But when I open this document with adobe reader 7, 8 or so, it doesn't send.
When you click on a field, you first get a notice with something like this:
"this file contains a button for sending an email. When you click this button, an email with the filled in data is send. The form itself isn't being send. Remember you can't save a filled in form with adobe reader 9."

after pressing the button, I get the error:
"Not valid" (don't know the exact translation)

I searched the internet for solutions and found something about the fonts.
But I don't get it correct.
See attachment for the example.

Can someone help me with this?

Answer:How do I create an association in the Default Programs control panel of Windows 7?

Hi Carl T Martin,
If you would like to create association for new file type, you can however use the Open With option, attached the steps for your reference:==================================1. Find a file with the extension that you wish to add
2. Right-click the file and choose Open with -> Choose default program? (or choose Open, if this type of file does not have any associated program yet)
3. Click Select a program from a list of installed programs
4. Click OK
5. If the application is not listed in the Open With dialog, click Browse and locate the executable.
6. Make sure that the following checkbox is enabled:
Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
7. Click OK.

Hi,

We have had our pc at work updated to windows 7 and office 2007.

Previously I could email a page in excel (similar to copy and paste into email doc) where the recipient could see the page (not edit) as part of the email message. This options seems to be unavailable in office 2007.
Is there a work around to solve this issue please?

Sorry, but I honestly don't know if this should go here, the Microsoft Office threads, networking threads, or where, but here goes.

I am looking for a way to send a free text document (can be word, PDF, Notepad, whatever I can type a message on) to multiple network printers that are located off site. It would be even better if I could set up groups based on those printers and send it to certain ones or define which ones I want to send to in the list.

Anyone offer any help on this?

Answer:Sending document to multiple printers

Can't be done since all applications I know of will only allow you select one printer at any one time when you want to print.

Good afternoon all,

I'm trying to get to know my scanner better. I have an HP Scanjet 3970. When I scanned in a text/graphics doc this afternoon to email to my son, apparently my only choices were to use MS Outlook or Outlook Express. I do not use either of those programs. I use Firefox's email client, Thunderbird.

I went into the settings area of the HP Director, brought up the email and word processing programs to see if there were other choices. I didn't see any. The choice for word processing was MS Office. I normally use Open Office, and at times Works 7.0. Is there any way to change the default/limited choices? I'm kinda new to all this, so sure would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Answer:Document Saving/sending Dilemma

Do you have Adobe Standard by any chance? If so, you can open that program and scan the document by importing from the scanner, then send the scanned document, which will be a PDF file, as an attachment.

MY TASK
I'm trying to create a new *.htm document using Notepad, which I should then be able to view in Internet Explorer by double clicking the *.htm file.

PROBLEM:
I can't create a new file with an .htm extension. I only have the option of creating a .txt file in NotePad. (I'm presuming) that since my file doesn't have the .htm extension, when I double click it I can't view it in Internet Explorer. Hello everyone and thanks for your time.
I have been using Windows 7 for a long time and have gotten used to all the keys, mouse movements etc for opening stuff. Recently I bought a new Laptop with same version of Windows installed (Ultimate). However, when I right click the Desktop, the context menu of New does not show the option to Create a New Text Document. This is proving to be a real pain in the back . I have Notepad installed (by Default as it should be), and double-clicking *.txt files opens it, but the shortcut is nowhere to be seen. Please tell me why this is so and the easiest and most painless way (preferably without the need to Install something e.g. Registry Entry or Portable Program/Single *.exe Program would be better) to do it.
Thanks.

This is probably a stupid question. I got a new laptop a few days ago, and am very happy with it. There is one small flaw and I am wondering if it can be fixed. When I right click and go to new, whether I be in documents, pictures, a jump drive, etc., there is no WordPad or Rich Text Document option. There is Microsoft Office Word Document, Journal Document, and Text Document as well as other things, however, I prefer WordPad to these. (Microsoft Word is okay to, but I only have a trial and I don't want to buy the full version, and I prefer WordPad regardless.) I know that WordPad is on my computer because I can access it through program files, as well as open documents with it. However it is not an option under New. Note: My laptop has Vista (although I hope to switch to XP soon), not sure if this makes a difference. If there is any way to create new WordPad documents (besides opening WordPad and saving a new document) please let me know! Thanks! -SV

I have searched everywhere on the web and I can't find a solution for it.
I changed my default text editor from notepad to PSPad (Programming), and after that my ability to add New Text Documents by right-clicking and going to New>Text Document has disappeared. I don't know how to fix it, I even tried putting Notepad as the default again, but it didn't work.

Answer:[SOLVED] Can't Create New Text Document

Hi, may not be easy to do this however lets see what you have here. Go to start, search and type regedit the reg editor will open Navigate to:-

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt\ShellNew]
and expand in the right payne look for the string value "Item Name"
it should have this entry against Item Name:-
@%SystemRoot%\system32\notepad.exe,-470

If not then right click select modify and copy and paste the above into the box. Reboot to take effect.

If you wish you can select file from regedit and export this key to desktop call it txt.reg and if anything goes wrong you can double click it to merge back to registry.

If doing this worries you just tell us what you see in the registry , I can write you a .reg file to do this for you.

Then the program goes on but is useless because I cannot open an new or existing document.
In my opinion this is a permission problem because the program runs without a problem within the hidden administrator account.
I tried a lot of things:
running as administrator
setting permissions for the program
taking ownership

nothing works.
This is very annoying because I have a huge library of MCad document I can't open anymore.

I knew how to do this in the old Word, but I can't figure it out in Office 2000 Word. It seems to only want me to do a letter merge. I have a data source document and a basic document that I need to add merge fields to, but I don't see a choice other than letter nor can I figure out how to add the fields where I want them (not as a recipient; it isn't a letter). It was relatively straight forward before, why is it so difficult now?

Answer:Word; create form document

I am currently on 2003, so cannot recreate exactly what you are doing, but I might have a helpful suggestion anyway. If you go to View -> Toolbars -> Mail Merge it should give you the toolbar at the top of the window that will have access to placing merge fields.

Please let me know if this helped you any, or if you found another solution.

I'm trying to create what for all intents and purposes is an e-book that includes some animated figures, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this.It will be a very long text document (circa 80,000 words), which will need to have consistent styles, automated numbering systems for headings, figures, etc, and a means of handling references, such as what you see with EndNote and similar programs. The animations are currently gif images, and they will need to loop when displayed in the document. The final product would be saved as a pdf, which I understand is capable of displaying animations?Does anyone know if it is possible to get Word 2010 to handle animations, and if so, how? I know it's capable of all the other requirements, although it's a bit dodgy and prone to corruption with long documents, so I'll use sub-documents and a good backup system to get around this.Alternatively, does anyone know of a good text editor that would meet all the above requirements? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Answer:How to create a text document with animations

To the best of my knowledge, you can NOT display animation in a Word doc.If you save the document as a Web page, you can see the animation with a browser, but that does not sound like what you have in mind.Powerpoint may be an alternative, but I'm not sure.Alternatively, does anyone know of a good text editor that would meet all the above requirements? Here is a couple of lists:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...http://ebooks-software-review.topte...You can probably find more using a Google search.MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/

(This is about a different, new computer.)

Computer was asleep early this morning, but after SuperAntiSpyware ran, it dir not go back to sleep. Testing showed that automated sleep is not working. Rebooted, got a pop-up box with the text as shown in the title of this message.

Ran the MS diagnostic for this problem, using msconfig; no luck. Googled for the error, not much there, but did try a few things. Turned off router, so not likely to be a address conflict, as one person was able to fix the problem through that route.

Ran another SuperAntiSpyware scan, a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan, one with Avast!, and the on-line HouseCall scan; nothing found. I have run a few of Dell's on-line diagnostics, nothing found so far.

I would appreciate knowing how to inoculate the computer, or what spell to cast thereupon, or how to properly remove the enchantment, or even anything actually related to repairing the whatever-it-is that is causing a probably very useful empty document to not be created. (Oh, yes, CCleaner was also ran, which deleted lots o temporary files, etc.)

==

After posting this fascinating missive, I ran one of the MS Fixit programs, which did find that the Recycle Bin was corrupt and fixed it. I rebooted; sadly, I still got the pop-up error message, but yet one more test of the sleep function found the computer willing to obey its master, as first the monitor and then the computer went to sleep with a one-minute setting.

Hi,

I have a really long Word document with different topics.

I would like to create a Table of content at the top of that document so that I can click on that topic & it will take me directly to that topic without me trying to scroll down the whole document to find that topic. I tried to create a hyperlink for each topic but Word created the hyperlink at the same place where the topic was listed, so that doesn't help.

I also tried to copy & paste that hyperlink at the top of the document but that didn't work either.

I'm having a couple problems that could be related.

1. On Citrix - I'm having disconnections, even though the user remain active. So it's not the "Disconnection/Hybernation" that happens when a user is inactive.

2. To investigate the disconnection, I check the Event Viewer on Win2k3, when I click on "Manage", I get the following error: Failed to create empty document.

It goes away if I reboot the server.

Server config: PIII 800MHZ, 1+gig MB Dell Poweredge

Perhaps there is some error with the way Citrix is creating log entries. It may need certain account level access to write a log entry. Is there also an add on that Citrix creates inside of the management console?

Creating a simple website for my friend in a band. He'll need to update it maybe once a week w/ dates, showtimes, etc. HOWEVER, he is not technically inclined. I want to make it so he can just type what he needs into a text document (like Word/Notepad (or the Mac equivalent)) on his laptop (a Mac), save it, and have that update his page. I'd rather not have him wade through HTML.

I'm a graphic designer and somewhat technically inclined, but woefully ignorant about this stuff. What program / format would be both good for this purpose and simple enough if I'm only looking to learn this element? Are there any free tutorials online about it? I know Flash and Actionscript, but maybe there is a better tool out there for this...

Also, I'd like for there to be a way he could update photos by himself. Maybe he could have a folder on his laptop with say 3 pictures that he names pic1, pic2, pic3, where if he saves a new photo to one of those names, the new photo fills that slot. Or some better way?

FYI: I use a PC.

My sincere thanks for any help or insight...

This will be a delivery document having 3 copies, each copy needs the same serial number.
The serial number needs to increment by +1 after each print but any information entered needs to be reset to blank.
A user form for input ?
Excel or Word (no mailmerge)
Document will reside in a shared folder on a server.
Needs to be user friendly (Idiot proof!)

Answer:Auto create a sequential serial number for a document

It is possible in Excel. I know of no way to do it in Word. The method is simple.
1. Create the template workbook with all the fields you see fit.
2. Copy the code below into the code module of the workbook

Code:
Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean)
Dim cdp As DocumentProperty

On Error GoTo NoSuchProperty
Set cdp = ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties("PrintCounter")
cdp.Value = cdp.Value + 1
ActiveSheet.Range("A1") = cdp.Value
ThisWorkbook.Save
Exit Sub
NoSuchProperty:
ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties.Add Name:="PrintCounter", LinkToContent:=False, Type:=msoPropertyTypeNumber, Value:=0
Set cdp = ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties("PrintCounter")
Resume Next
End Sub

The code looks up the custom document property called "PrintCounter". If the property doesn't exist, it will be created.
Before each print attempt, the counter will be increased by one, and the workbook (with the new propery value) will be saved.
The code displays the counter in cell A1, but it can be displayed anywhere, even in header or footer, even as part of a longer string.

I would like to open Windows Explorer, click on a CD-ROM and, from the list shown, create a document that can be inserted into Word. I would like to avoid using jpeg or gif files since I would like to be able to edit whatever is entered into the document. Is there a program out there that does this that I can download without subscribing to PC World or other mags? Shareware, pay for or freeware, I am not concerned about the program costing something, I just don't want to subscribe to a magazine just to download one item.

Thanks for any help.

A friend of mine sent me an E-mail in Outlook Express that included several .jpg files as attachments. Whenever I try to open these pictures, I get a dialogue box that says that the files do not have a program associated with them for performing this action and that I need to create an association in the Folders Option Control Panel. The files in Outlook Express show the Kodak logo and I have the "Kodak EasyShare" program on my computer. Can someone tell me how to create an association in the Folders Option Control Panel. Thanks in advance.

i am so sad (And pissed off)

for the past 4 1/2 hours i have been trying to fix my computer. i logged onto it this morning and all of a sudden, most were suddenly unrecognized by Windows. however, Internet Explorer worked, and when i clicked on a specific file or folder, it open in its respective program or in the case of a folder, it opened up successfully.

after a couple hours i got into the folder options and created the ".exe" and ".lnk" file extensions and the icons on my desktop went back to normal. however, i STILL cannot execute any of the actual PROGRAMS on their own. whenever i click on a PROGRAM, it says the same stupid thing about me needing to create an association in folder options. but personally i do not know how to do that. oh yes, keep in mind i have TRIED to do regedit, its not supported cuz its an exe, and oh yeah, sysem restore dont work either

could someone PLEASE help me?!?! thanks
