Pavillion 15 not charging, but charging LED blinks randomly

Question: Pavillion 15 not charging, but charging LED blinks randomly

For some reason my laptop once stopped charging, I tried a few different outlets at a library and non of them made the laptop start charging again (charging = organge light glowing). I got home, and my outlets there didn't work either. THen after a while I tried an outlet again, and it worked. Then this problem occured one more time (then I fixed it somehow). And the last time it occured I haven't been able to fix it. Trust me I've tried almost everything, I tried turnign it off taking the battery out and holding the powere button then trying to charge it, I tried waiting for hours, but have not tried a new charger. So here is the problem I see: I plug in the charger, and the charging LED does not glow, instead it randomly (it seems random) blinks. I once left my laptop to do that for hours, and it still didn't even charge. Also I can't turn on my laptop without the battery (not sure if thats even possible, as I have not heard it is possible). I'm going to send it back to Costco soon, but before I do, please help me figure out how to fix it, thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello! My ProBook 4540s was working fine until few half hour ago, when I unplugged it to move it and then attempted to plug it back in, and it stopped charging.  When plugging in the power cord the light above the power jack (and no other lights) flashes white 9 times.   This is the exact same problem as posted here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/ProBook-4540s-not-charging/m-p/4...but there is no solution. Please help

My V5 471PG battery charging light blinks for 3-4 times then stops then battery not charging. What maybe the problem? Is it the battery or what?

Answer:My V5 471PG battery charging light blinks for 3-4 ...

It almost sounds like there is a problem with your Battery or Charging unit.. It could be that there is a short in your Charger Cord and if you unplug it form the computer and run down the length of the cord you may find any area where it became kinked and then damaged.. Also if you have a meter you could try testing the charger and see if it is working to the Specs of the charger... Shold be wrote on the unit how DC output it is. Maybe 19 to 20v DC...  Hope this helps someJames

I replaced the battery with a new Duracell battery yesterday.  I need to charge at least 4 hours first then discharge it.  When charging the light is usually amber, but after about 1 hour into the charge it begins blinking and the color changes to white.  This is the second battery.  It did almost the same thing with the other one, but the charging indicator also read incorrectly.  What can I do to correct this? Thanks

Sorry if im in the totally wrong area, first time post.

My laptop:
Dell m1730
Vista
4gig Ram

So my Dell M1730 one day decides to stop charging and then slowly looses its power until it goes dead, I have had this issue once before, so as I did before I let the laptop sit there for a couple of hours then plugged the power back in and it worked again. But now whilst im on it, it is always detecting the charger then not recognizing it and so on, until eventually it just stops detecting it and goes flat, and I have to wait a couple of hours before I can try again. I have checked the part that goes into the laptop, as in opened it and checked it, there was no obvious damage. So I have no idea whats wrong, Could it be the mother board? Why is it working if I leave it for a while?

Thank you in advance.

Answer:Randomly Charging Then Not Charging.

I also forgot to add that its my laptop, its not taking power, my battery is alright.

beyblade00745,

It sounds to me like the battery is reaching end of life (EOL) or there is a problem with your charger. An easy way to make sure it's really only one of them, not both, is to try these steps:

Power the unit off while battery and charger are plugged in, does the charging light flash red at all?
When the unit is fully charged will it operate on battery power alone for any amount of time?
With the battery uninstalled, does your system work without issues?

Hi. My laptop was a mess about 6 weeks ago- { HP Pavillion G7 } My brother got it up and running again but the battery isn't charging- After 6 weeks it is now down to 21%  I did the battery test and the test failed- I know the battery is good especially since it took 6 weeks to get low. I tried uninstalling the drivers { i'm not sure they actually uninstalled } a few times it said my driver was up to date- a few times it didn't say anything so maybe they did uninstall. I upgraded from 8 to 10. What else can i try to do. The battery test and uninstalling the drivers didn't work.. Thanks in advance. [email protected]

About 8 weeks ago- My laptop quit working- My brother got it going again but it seems to be missing drivers- Is there a driver for the charging circuit? My battery went from 100% to now 26% in 8 weeks- Plugged in not charging- I did the battery test and it said the test failed-- I know it isn't the battery- How do i turn on the charging circuit or get a driver for the circuit. The laptop works fine when plugged in.

Answer:HP G7 Pavillion battery not charging { DRIVERS??}

How do you know it is not the battery, sounds logical. There are no drivers fo the charging circuit. How would drivers work when the laptop is turned off and if it is working it charges when the laptop is turned off and plugged in. Have you run the battery test or did your brother tell you how many cycles the battery has on it? How old is the battery?

Have you run the battery diagnostic test either in UEFI diagnostics (F2 as you power up) or the HP Support Assistant? Check battery health status and tell us how many cycles are registered on the battery. If you are saying the battery is only a little over a year old, that is too young to die.

Hi, I have an HP Pavillion dv6253cl (dv6000 series) with Vista Home, and I'm having problems getting the battery to charge. First off, I should probably say that there was a power outage due to rain and lightning last night when the laptop was in hibernate, and the problem first started this morning when I booted it back up (probably not a coincidence). My HP warranty is expired, so I can't turn to them.

I'm currently running off AC power, and if I were to unplug the cord even for a second, the computer would lose power and shut down (I tried once). The battery is plugged in, but there is literally no power, absolutely 0%.

The blue light around the AC adapter works fine, and when the battery is plugged in, the charging light on the front is lit up as if it is charging. When I take out the battery, the charging light goes out, then turns on when I plug the battery back in. Also, when I plug the battery back in, the battery sign in the taskbar indicates that it is charging, but it stops after maybe 10 seconds.

It will also periodically say in the taskbar that it is 100% charged, but it will go back to 0% after a few seconds. I'm not sure why.

Things I've tried:
1. Shut down computer, remove AC and battery for several minutes, plug both back in, boot up computer. Didn't work.
2. Downloaded HP's "Battery Check" software. It says that it is 0% charged, and under "Health", it says "Replace". Not good.

I have a brand new Pavillion 15. Product number:L2U58EA#ABUSerial number:5CD5040VVW The battery displays as pluged in and not charging, the notebook boots fine on power with no battery, and on power with battery fitted. However it will not boot off battery alone and the battery indicator LED does not show a charge. It briefly shows orange but then moves to blinking white. I have tried the charger on another HP Pavillion and this works perfectly so the power source does not seem to be the issue. There is no apparent damage to the battery terminals, it just appears to not take a charge. As the machine and bettery are new I would assume there is warranty cover for the battery. Any help is much appreciated.

A few days ago, I upgraded my HP Pavillion from Windows 8 to Windows 10. After the download, my laptop was entirely dead so I charged it. My laptop worked completely fine before the download. The next day, I noticed my laptop wont charge. The status of the battery says ?plugged in, not charging?. I shut down my computer and restarted it with the same result. I then searched the HP forums and uninstalled the driver and again, restarted my computer. This didn?t work either. I tried different wall sockets and even attempted to take out the battery but the back cover of my laptop wont come off. I called HP Support and the gentleman on the line was extremely rude to me. I couldn?t understand his thick accent and I had a hard time understanding my case number, as I am dyslexic, and he seemed to get irritated when I asked him to speak slower. He spoke very slowly and told me that I was stupid. Frustrated, I hung up. My problem is still not solved and I am confined to the wall and I cant unplug my laptop without it shutting down on me. Please Help!

Hi, this laptop is 2 years old and about a week ago it just failed to switch on. No warning, just one day nothing. When it's connected to the power supply and turned on there's nothing, no faint hum, no fan activation and no charging lights. I've tried changing the AC adapter but the new one has given me the same issue.  I'd like to know if this model is capable of operating without the battery and just connected to the AC supply as if not then I may need to consider replacing the battery but if it can operate then I won't waste the time or money. Sadly this PC is just just a few months out of warranty so I am finding it difficult to get in contact with HP regarding a proper repair. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might have gone wrong with this computer? Thanks,  AN

So lately I've been having an issue with my laptop.  The charger is plugged in but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it unless I shift the laptop to a certain position.  This seems to have little to do with the position of the AC plug in the DC port at all as it's not the same positions that will actually get the computer to recognize the charger is plugged in. I don't think this has anything to do with the battery itself as removing the battery does not make the connection more consistent.  The computer will still not recognize the AC adapter is plugged in.  I had the same problem with my old laptop, a V570. It will also briefly lose connection and restore it before my display can process it.  I know this by the CPU throttle in the BIOS (which I can't access to turn off because of the version of BIOS used) will randomly slow my computer down and won't restore to full speed when the charger is making connection again. What just happened lately which is making me wonder about this more is that my laptop stopped recognizing the charger as being plugged in in the tray icon but the charger light on my laptop started flashing orange.  The blue power light was also flashing. Sometimes when I restart my computer to reset the CPU throttle, I will get a pop-up message from the Battery Management Software stating, "Adapter has limited support: performance will be affected ..." Full specs available on the purchase page here. &n... I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen3) Model 20BS touchscreen  running Windows 7 64 bit. The battery is not charging -- it's in a perpetual state of "plugged in not charging"  and even when plugged in, it?s losing appr 1 percent per day (down to 31%). This has happened a few times over the past 3-4 months since I got the machine, but I've managed to find things that "fixed" it (at least temporarily): - Resetting the power gauge worked once - Changing the custom battery charge threshold worked a few times - Plugging in the power cord at different stages of reboot seemed to fix it once (although not sure why / how) Based on previous thread posts, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Power Manager and then tried to run Battery Gauge Reset, but to no avail. And the reset only appears to run for about 30 sec before the system tray icon switches back to normal. Thanks in advance. Karl

I have a G560 , when battery is depleted and needs a charge . If I plug my AC adapter in my battery icon shows I have the AC power but the icon shows that it is charging for 17 seconds and then quits showing that it is charging. If I unplug the power supply and then plug it in again. The same 20 seconds thing. I can get the battery to completely recharge all the way up if I plug and unplug. I am wondering if it is a defective voltage regulator problem? I do not want to replace the battery if the battery is not bad. It is just out of warranty by 3 monthes. This just started happening . Thanks and God Bless : )

Hi, So out of the blue my Yoga 13 seized up while sitting at the start menu in Windows 8.1. I had to kill the local svc host which had accumulated over 2GB of ram... just so I could shutdown the machine,  but when I shutdown some craziness started. The power wouldn't turn off even after 20 minutes. I held it down forever and finally it did turn off (maybe the shutdown was incredibly prolonged). I did also flash the bios after this craziness, to the one on the suggested download site (version 55).  At any rate, that's when the problems really started: I got the plugged in not charging issue in windowsThe battery charging light no longer turns on when plugged in (though the battery is charging). The novo button doesn't work.Unauthorized battery messagePower button wasn't responsive when off. i have been using this laptop for 2 years i get it from my friend .

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Yesterday i bought a new battery for my laptop but it is giving me the same problem which i had with my previous battery.

So this is not battery problem.

Things i have tried

1)Removing battery and uninstalling windows ac adaptor from Device manager.

2)Removing both battery and power Adaptor and pushing the power button for 20 sec if there is any residuel current.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

I would be thankful for your guidance.

Thank you

Hi there, new on the forums. I've just bought my first ThinkPad and can't tell if the charging is complete while the laptop is off. I charge the laptop mostly when it's off but the only chargin indication I can see is a constant green LED near the charging port. I would have expected it to be red during charge and turn green when charging reaches 100%. Are all E320s like this? A very annoying problem

Answer:Thinkpad Edge E320 Charging LED; how can you tell if its charging complete?

It seems that Lenovo engineers decided that Edge users don't need as many indicator lights as other models have.  In my E420 there are only 2: AC power adapter connected (green light next to power connector) and On/Off/Sleep status (red light dot in ThinkPad logo). That's it!  If you want to know the battery status you have to open Windows.

Hi, I upgraded my Sony Vaio to Windows 10. Since the upgrade, battery icon showing "Plugged in, Charging" but not actually charging. Always it is in 3% and when unplug the power, system shutdowns.

Answer:Sony Vaio - shows charging, but not charging the battery?

From: Recovery and Troubleshooting Guide
Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
When you intend to run your VAIO computer on battery power, the battery pack may have run out of power. Connect the computer to a power outlet. For details, refer to Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
If you did not previously follow the standard procedure to turn off your VAIO computer, the power controller may be suspended due to a program error.
Do as follow:
- On the models with a built-in battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, push and hold the battery off button for at least three seconds with a thin, straight object (such as a paper clip), and leave the computer for at least
five minutes. Then, plug the AC adapter and turn on the computer once again. For the location of the battery off button, refer to Locating Parts and Controls in the Startup Guide.
- On the models with a removable battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, remove the battery pack, and leave the computer for at least five minutes. Then, reinstall the battery pack and turn on the computer once again.
? If the charge indictor is blinking or the ? power button does not work, a battery error may have occurred or the battery pack may not be detected.

Where have you purchased the battery from? Does the old battery charge fine when plugged in?
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Test another power adapter and check. If the adapter fits in loose, then the dc port needs to be replaced. You would need this part.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help
I hope you can ... Read more

Answer:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. I figured out that my laptop, when being charged or using the Power Outlet, runs at 100% CPU at times, and slows me down when running and working on some open applications. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. Pent 4..

HELP!!!

Hi, My husband purchased an Ideapad Yoga 11S last year. Last month, the power cord stopped charging. I took the system into a repair shop, and they told me that the charger wasn't registering any power activity, and that I'd need to buy a new one. I ordered a new one... one month later, it too has stopped charging the computer! I have NO IDEA why? My son uses this for school, and he can't access any of his work, nor can he participate in classwork that requires the computer. I researched solutions, and found that I should unplug the unit and take out the battery --- YEAH RIGHT... a special screw driver is needed to do that, so we can't get the screws out without stripping them. I am VERY frustrated because the computer is no longer covered under warranty... is the new charger that I purchased covered? Is there something else that I can do? Any help in this matter is extremely appreciated. S_Reynolds

i have been using this laptop for 2 years i get it from my friend .

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Thank you

I recently had my Qosmio F55-Q502 repaired by Toshiba.
Two issues were addressed and one is fixed.

However, the second was attempted to be resolved unsuccessfully.

When I attempt to play multi-media games such as Call of Duty IV, even if the system is fully charged, within minutes the system will start to blink the "backlights" and then when I see the charging icon, it says "Plugged in, Not Charging."

This really concerns me as I have read online many similar issues, but none of the solutions seems to work.
To have to restart the machine everytime this happens and your in the middle of a game, really stinks!
I even had it happening with SimCity4 which is an ancient game.

Any good suggestions on this?
They did replace the battery when it was sent in which seems to be what most people say needs to be done.

Answer:Qosmio F55-Q502 - charging icon says: Plugged in, Not Charging

Hello

If your Qosmio notebook was in repair I think you should not discuss about any issue on forums but make a pressure on service and clarify every single problem with your notebook.
Please do this because the warranty is still valid and now is the time to clarify everything.

I am not hardware specialist but it sound to me as some power supply electronic issue but I cannot say for sure. Talk with service. Try to clarify this with them. Be nice, be cool and everything will be ok.

Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

Hello, I have a ProBook 640 G1 that will not power on. After pressing the power button, with a battery installed and the AC adapter attached, the Charging LED blinks white 9 times . Unplugging the AC adapter results in 9 amber blinks. The light on the AC Adapter itself remains solid green. With the battery removed, and attached to the AC Adapter, three lights blink continously : The light on the power button (white), the Charging LED (AMBER), and the Power LED (White). The light on the AC Adapter itself remain solid green. In both cases pressing or pressing and holding the power button has no effect. There is no indication that power is actually making in to the MB; no BIOS , nothing at all. I do not have access to another unit with the same battery or AC adapter in order to try swapping those out. Thanks,Shane

Some day I was using my laptop and then left it on for a while because I have to do something else (I left it for about two hours). When I came back the laptop was dead (at least I thought that because it was not charging the battery nor starting up with the charger plugged in). A couple of days after that I tested the laptop again, plugged in the charger and it was charging again the battery. I could start the system fine. After a reboot the system was not charging again, but the battery had some charge so I could start the laptop again. In summary, there's not problem with the battery (there is power going from the battery to the motherboard), there is no power going from the charger to the battery (sometimes it does, sometimes don't, but the most times don't). With the battery unplugged and the charger plugged in there is no power going to the motherboard. battery and no charger -> ok, power to the motherboardbattery + charger -> sometimes works, but almost neverno battery, only charger -> does not work Power jack tested and it's ok. Charger tested and it's ok. Also trackpad stopped working, windows does not recognize it. Thanks for your help and sorry for the long post.

I own a HP ProBook 4520s. Lately, it has been freezing randomly. But the strange thing is, it freezes only when it is not getting charged. When it freezes, the screen doesn't respond, the mouse, keyboard doesn't work and the wireless light turns off. I have to hold down the power button and hard reset it to make it work again. It works perfectly when it is getting charged. The battery is not the problem since I have replaced it few weeks ago but the problem still persist as it did before replacing the the battery. It doesn't overheat. The vents do not get blocked. I have an antivirus installed, so no chances of any virus or malware. What can be the possible causes of this freezing? I've had charging problems with my laptop for a while. I'd have to wriggle the connector around in the port for it to charge. It gradually got worse, with me having to move it around in the port more and more before it'd start charging. Over the past couple of days, my laptop has suddenly been turning off while the charger is connected, and I've noticed a smell coming from the laptop while the charger is connected and before it turns off. I'm currently using it without the charger connected, and it's working fine. I've ran HWMonitor on my laptop, and there's been no signs of it overheating.
So, does anybody have any idea what the exact problem may be? I'm guessing it's something to do with either the port or the charger, but I'm not sure.

Answer:Laptop turns off randomly while charging.

Id say that wriggling the connector has broken it inside.

Hey,

I just got my computer back from having the motherboard switched out because of another problem, but now my battery will not charge. The light is on and it says it is charging, but it isn't. Should I attempt a gauge reset or something else?

It is a Lenovo y50, which I have had for 3 months. The battery needs to be unscrewed from the back.
Thanks!

Answer:Says plugged in and charging, but is not charging. Just got motherboard fixed.

If it is not charging maybe the battery is defective.
Did they gave you back the original charger?
Did they install another different motherboard which might use a different charger?
You may need to contact the person who repaired it to find out.

Running Windows 7 x64.One of my end users' T410 would say that it was charging, but the battery percentage would never change unless you unplugged it. Then it would get lower, but plugging it in would not recharge the battery. We tried putting her HD in a working T410, but the problem carried over. I ended up giving her a new laptop, but I would like to fix the errant T410 if at all possible. Since the problem carried over with the HD in a working T410, I figured it was a software issue.  Reinstalled Windows. No good.Did a wipe of the HD (everything 0's). Reinstalled Windows. No Good.Booted from Linux liveCD. Charging worked, but once I booted into a fresh copy of Windows, it stopped charging. So it seems that the hardware is capable of charging the battery, but not on a fresh copy of Windows: only Linux. Is there anything else I could try to get it working on Windows? Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Hi Hang,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

As you are facing the improper charging of battery , in that case you please need to perform the following steps and check  if the issue gets resolved.

Open Lenovo Energy Management
Click on the bottom gear icon between i and ?.
Under Battery Health, Click on Start for Battery Gauge Reset.
That should refresh the gauge and let the system finish through the cycle.

I hope the above information helps.

I've had my HP Envy laptop for about 3 months, and yesterday I noticed that when it was plugged in it wasn't charging (the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging"). I turned it off overnight, plugged in, and this morning the battery was fully charged. It only seems to not charge when it is turned on. I have tried removing the battery, turning on, deleting the ACPI-compliant control method battery, turning off, and turning back on again (as advised in other forum responses), but with no joy. At first I thought it could either be a battery issue, but the fact it fully charged overnight whilst off would lead me to believe it's not, and is probably a software / settings issue. Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. While having the battery and AC adapter plugged-in, boot into the BIOS (by pressing F2) and unplug the AC adapter until the system shuts off (this is to compete the discharge the battery).

2. Once the machine shuts down, remove and reinsert the battery and plugin the AC adapter then let the battery charge for about 2hrs while the machine is off and observe the battery lifght indicator. After 2hrs, power up the machine and observe the battery percentage.

I'm coming through with this issue because I saw so many people (including dell tech support) struggling with this issue before.
The issue is as follows: you connect your laptop to the charger, the charging light goes on, windows says "charging", even the BIOS says charging, and yet, the battery's voltage just keeps going down no matter what you do about it..
Dell tech support usually try to guide you to reset the BIOS battery by removing the main battery and press the power button. but it's not the case here.
The solution I found was a very strange one, changing the RAM slot seemed to solve the issue completely.
Just taking the RAM card from one slot to the other. on one slot it's stopping your laptop from charging, on the other everything is good.
I honestly don't know why that is (and I'm a PC technician myself),  considering the laptop ships with two perfectly good RAM slots, but I thought the solution needs to be out there.
I'm hoping I managed to help some of you, (Even with my less then perfect English) Sapir.

Hi,
I have a dell xps 12, bought in 2012. Recently the battery stopped charging. The battery shows 0%, so I have to be plugged in to turn the laptop on. When it is on, the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, charging" but after a day it is still 0%.
Since then I bought a new battery. Just fitted it, but now the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, not charging". Furthermore, when I Fn+F3 to show the battery meter, it says "battery charging diabled". There is no option here to turn battery charging on. Nor is there an option to enable battery charging in BIOS.
BIOS does show battery performing normally, so does the battery meter (Fn+F3). BIOS also shows AC adapter as 45W, which is the original adapter.
Any help is appreciated!

Hi, I have an X220 Tablet that's about 3 and a half years old -- so unfortunately just out of warranty -- and I'm having battery/charging problems. A few months ago the original 6-cell battery that came with the laptop died: Power Manager reported it as dead and needing replacing. It had had 500-something cycles, so it seemed reasonable. I went ahead and bought a new 6-cell battery from Lenovo, the 67+, and then my system was fine again. But one day a few weeks ago this battery suddenly stopped charging. Power Manager reported that "The battery is in good condition", and it was reported as "Status: Charging", but it was not actually charging and was instead very slowly discharging its way to 0%. Something suspicious is perhaps that PM reported "Current: 0.00 A". I thought it might be the battery, so I got another one, but that has exactly the same issue -- now I have two batteries, each discharged completely and with no way to charge them. Charging doesn't happen regardless of whether the computer is on or off, or whether I'm in Windows (7) or Linux. I checked the AC adapter/charger with a multimeter and it is reporting 20V as it's supposed to, so I guess that's okay. Plus, the laptop runs fine on just the AC adapter, even if it's a little bit slower (which I gather is due to it being 65W rather than 90W). The only slightly unusual thing I can remember from the day charging stopped functioning is that I was using the 'always on' USB port to charge my ... If nothing was going on when the problem started, (no power failure, lightning storm, failure of power adapter, tripping over the cord) I would guess mosfet. Some shops can repair fuses, but they require fairly good soldering equipment. I have had much poorer luck fixing mosfets, because usually, more than one chip is bad. You might be able to find a motherboard for a reasonable price. I have one for sale on eBay for under $100, but international shipping is expensive and you might do better locally. My stock battery has worked great for me since I purchased the laptop in '12. One day the power light started blinking (the same timing that it blinks when you tap the power button to put it to sleep) and I realized my battery was low although the charger was plugged in.The problem has persisted where I am working and the light starts to blink/power supply halts. If I unplug the power supply and plug it back in, the problem is temporarily fixed and the computer will begin to charge, however after a random amount of time (could be 30 minutes, could be 30 seconds) the blinking will reappear and I have to unplug/replug again.I tried clearing the static with the "battery out/hold power button down for a minute" trick. It didnt seem to help.

I'm currently posting this from my phone so forgive me for any typos. I was playing a session of Overwatch when suddenly my laptop just shutdown. I then caught a whiff of a burning smell and couldn't detect if it was coming off the laptop. I was still able to start the laptop back up, but I noticed that the battery was draining despite having the AC adapter plugged in. It detected the AC adapter even, as it was in high performance mode... I just figured that the AC adapter was fried as despite being plugged in for a while after, it never got warm. So I went on amazon and ordered a replacement adapter. It's a 45N0112 adapter, an official Lenovo one. Tried to plug it in as of now, and I get nothing.  Battery led doesn't even blink. Tried the drain thing and it doesn't work. Removed the battery and tried to see if it would work of AC alone and I got nothing as well.  The odd thing is that when I plug in the old adapter, the led for the battery blinks but it hardly provides charge. I can still start up my laptop with what little charge is left so I'm safe to assume it's not a motherboard issue? What the heck is really going on? I saw all over that a 45N0112 adapter works for y510p as well, and the adapter I bought on amazon was from Lenovo for the y510p itself. Could it be I got a faulty adapter or is my motherboards input voltage gone to whack? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've never had any problems with this laptop, but this is... Read more

Dear all,

I have just bought this second hand Toshiba A665-11z only to find that when I'm connected to PSU the batter starts charging, then randomly stops charging... after a couple of seconds it might come back, and sometimes it just stops charging completely.

When this happens the power button's light goes off, as well as the one on top of the Touch pad.

Also the lights on the front of the laptop go white for the PSU, off for the On, and blinks pinkish for the battery. The backlit keyboard goes off too and won't go on till the charging is back.

once i started typing this post it disconnected form charge, I replugged it, and now it hasn't happened again.

The original OS was Windows home premium 32Bit, but this lappy comes with 4GB RAM so the prev owner installed a licenced version of WIn 7 Ultimate 64Bit.

I have updated all the drivers, and BIOS is at 2,20

Help please

Answer:Satellite A665-11z starts Charging then randomly stops

once i pressed SEND it went off again, and now running on battery power even though it's plugged in.

Also I can run the laptop on power supply with no battery in with no problem and it never disconnects, so it's not an issue with Charger or PSU port, as it would go off randomly without the battery in if it was, but it doesnt.

I just plugged in a brand new battery and it says that it's plugged in and charging but it isn't actually charging. I've searched the internet and I've come up with possiblythe power brick not having enough juice to charge the battery. My power brick says Input: AC100-240V 1.5A 50/60Hz, Output: 20V --- 4.5A it being a motherboard problem. Is there any utility or tutorial on how to check to see if it's a motherboard problem?  Any other suggestions on how to solve this issue or at least identify the problem would be much appreciated.

Answer:T61p "Plugged in, Charging" but not actually charging

If you have the possibility to borrow from somebody else - do a test on your system with another charger and another battery ... maybe you'll find the broken piece ...

Lately my 910 has not been charging consistently. I'm at 46% battery and the charging light keeps flickering on and off as if my charger is bad. Tried my backup charger and same issue - and I don't think my port is bad because wiggling it doesn't have any effect.  When I toggled conservation mode recently it temporarily fixed the issue so I assume it's software. Anyone else having this issue?

Answer:910 constantly toggling between charging and not charging

Also - this isn't normal behavior. The light isn't blinking in a regular pattern and my battery is just going down.  When the computer is powered off it still doesn't charge.

Hi, My HP 15-AC035TX (warranty was over by Oct 2016), when plugged in - till 30 - 40% it's getting charged without any issues. Then it's charging & not charging intermittently. It's getting charged for 1 min then not getting charged for few seconds.  If i run the laptop without batterires, no issues. Laptop is running smoothly without any disconnection.  I tried with one of my friends charger and the same thing happens. So i guess the problem is not with the charger.  I've tried everything mentioned in this two threads. Nothing worked1) http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/HP-G62-Intermittent-charging-pro...2) http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/not-charging-starts-then-stops/... As far as discharge is concerned, battery is holding the charge as usual (say it it gets charged for 45%, it will run for 2.5 hours) Any suggestions ? Battery test report:

Hi all,I have a brand new i7 Yoga 13 running windows 8 from Best Buy. As soon as it booted up, I have not been able to charge my battery. As I hover over the icon, it says "Plugged in and Charging" but it does not include a percentage. I have had it plugged in overnight, and if I unplug the computer, it will die immediately. I have tried updating my BIOS, energy managment and setting it to "Maximum battery life," but nothing changes. Thoughts? Thanks

Yeah I have this same problem with my Yoga along with just about every other issue that has been mentioned in this forum so far. Dislike Lenovo. Save us the frustration and don't be in a rush to release your products. Where's the quality control?

To whom it may concern.I am in desperate help..... I have tried every solution i have managed to find on the internet but none of them work. I have a HP ProBook 450 G1 Laptop. When plugging the power supply in the batery shows that its charging but it never actually charges but simply remians on at same level.....I have checked the power supply as I have an exact duplicate laptop at my disposal, same with the battery. The battery charges perfectly in the other laptop but not in my laptop. When swithcing the batteries form the other pc it will not charge in my PC. bot both are fine in the other PC. I have removed the battery, checked power supply, un-installed and reinstalled the ACPI-complaint and adapter as suggested by most. I have done what ever solution i can have managed to find but neither have worked but the battery works  just fine when inserting into the other duplicate laptop and charges fine. I have tried to instal or upgrade BIOS settings etc. Nothing has worked for me! Please can someone point me in the correct direction!!!!!! Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

So I unboxed my Ideapad Y500 yesterday and it's working wonderfully...that is, everything except my battery. When it was running low at 10% battery life last night I decided to plug in the AC adapter, which, as is normal, caused the battery icon in the corner to read "10% available (plugged in, charging)". However, what's not normal is that when I turned the laptop off and left it to charge overnight, the battery indicator light at the front of the system was still orange/red, occasionally flashing. I turned on my system again to find that my battery life hadn't budged at all despite recognizing that the adapter was plugged in and charging. I know other people have asked about something like this, though most of them say their battery icon reads "plugged in, not charging", so I'm not sure how to solve it. Any help would be appreciated!

Answer:Y500 "plugged in, charging"...but not actually charging?

HiNot sure it is happening but can you try this:remove battery and ac adapter; press and hold the power button for 30-40 seconds and then put it all together. Hope fully it should fix the problem.Regards

Client's relatively new Yoga 500 is exhibiting a weird problem in Windows 10 anniversary edition. The battery is currently at 47% but keeps flickering between charging and not charging. The icon changes every second, possibly faster. Tried swapping power supplies so it's not that. When first reported, the battery was at 40% but then got to 47% during a reboot. The battery on the Yoga 500 is internal so not possible to try swapping batteries. Any ideas or suggestions?

I have a Lenovo G580 laptop. I formatted my system and it was working good but slow before formatting. After formatting i got a status of 49% available(Plugged in, Not Charging). I shut down my system completely and removed the adaptar and found that the battery light is still glowing. I remove the battery and inserted. I still found the battery light is glowing. Then i started the system with adaptar checked status as (plugged in, charging) but the power percentage is not going up. I decided to drain the battery and then check, so i was working without the adaptar & the power drained normally in usual time. Then i plugged in to adaptar and Currently the status is "0% (Plugged in, Charging)"  but its not charging.   Please help.

Answer:G580 Plugged in, charging but not charging

hi Abhijeettiria,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Youre troubleshooting is correct and pointed out the battery.
One last thing you could try is to run the Battery gauge reset via the Lenovo Energy Management software,
If that still gave you the same problem I suggest having the battery Replaced via warranty claim or by purchasing a new battery.

Best regards
Solid Cruver

I found out yesterday morning that for some reason, the battery on my laptop isn't charging. I'm staying at my mother's house for the weekend and since then the problem has occured. At home, it always charged properly and never gave me any problems.  Could I need a new battery? I've tried going to Device Manager and uninstalling and re-installing drivers and the whole 9 yards, yet the problem still persists. Thank you in advance

My G50-70 of less than a year just got a dead battery. The battery is constantly at 7%. It says "Plugged in, charging" but it doesn't actually charge. Please help!

Answer:G50-70 Battery says "Plugged in, Charging" but not charging

Hi Mistwild82,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with battery plugged in charging in your Lenovo Y50-70 laptop.

Please try to perform the gauge reset, under power manager select maintenance guide and select gauge reset and check for the issue.

Also try to uninstall the Microsoft ACPI driver, uninstall the drivers under ACPI and restart the system and check for the issue.

Also shut down the system and try to charge the system for 1 or 2 hours and check if the charging percentage has increased. If the charging percentage has increased in Linux then it?s a issue with operating system please reinstall the operating system and check for the issue.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

I have Toshiba satellite model C875?7304. The battery indicator on the desktop says that it's charging but the percentage is depleting. This is on a brand-new battery that came with 67% full and a new adapter. When the laptop is off the LED indicator in the front is lit like the battery is charging. However it is not. After leaving it plugged in for a few hours the percentage was the same as when I turned it off. Also the adapter wasn't warm at all. I've tried all Toshibas recommendations removing all power from the laptop and holding the power button down for 30 seconds to a minute. Also removing the battery for the bios and reinserting it. Still that hasn't worked. I removed the laptop battery and the laptop will not power on using AC power only. It's almost like the laptop is only using battery power and the adapter is not charging the battery or keeping the laptop on. Laptops only about a year old. Any suggestions anyone?

Answer:Toshiba satellite charging but not charging

As the laptop's only a year old the original battery should be fine and not need replacing. Also if it won't run from the AC power only something is wrong. Look for your receipt and if it's still under guarantee take the laptop back.

My dell Inspiron 3420 bios version A09 suddenly stopped charging battery , and the power icon show this message(Plugged in and charging) but my battery does not charge.
I tested another charger and another battery but did not help.
Thinking that changing bios might  help,I am trying to change the bios but can't downgrade even i tried /forceit command.
I can access logic board if for troubleshooting someone could educate me about  voltages of sda, scl and dc jack connector to the board.
