ThinkPad X250 Mobile internet question

Question: ThinkPad X250 Mobile internet question

Hi, my laptop is ThinkPad X250 bought last year. I can see that it has the SIM card slot for installation of SIM card. However, after I purchase a new SIM card and service then I realize that I cannot get onto the internet with the SIM card. The SIM card should be 3G/4G ready which is not only a sole phone card for calling. Is it because my model does not support wireless WAN? What can I do to check if my model can get onto the mobile internet?? I DO NOT mean WiFi If it does not support mobile internet, why it has a SIM card slot available?? so wired to me Can I add any extra hardware to make it 3G/4G possible if it does not support originally??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I'm thinking to buy ThinkPad Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250. I?ve few questions, Pease suggest ...1. Is it really any good and practically beneficial?2. Can I use it on Fedora 27, How?s Linux support?3. X250 has two PCI Express M.2 card slot and one is already occupied by WLAN Card and other slot is available, Can I use empty slot for FRU-04X6014?4. Can I use both WLAN and WWAN simultaneously?5. What is the impact on battery (Windows and Linux)?6. Is AliExpress a good place to buy? Thankyou

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250

Regarding your questions:1) I personally use it and it's really good, as I don't want to use additional USB modem or WWAN wireless router.2) Can't say, as I don't use Fedora.3) There's a dedicated port for this module. Please make sure, that you have an antenna connectors for module and adapter for a SIM card. Moreover, instead of WWAN module, you can install there a m.2 2242 SSD disk.4) Both can be enabled and connected, but application will use one at time.5) I have an extended battery, so it's hard to tell. I guess it have a simmilar power usage as WLAN module (basing on Windows power utilization). Can't say about Fedora.6) It you don't want to have a problem with whitelist (it prevent system from booting, when unauthorized module is installed), then I look for module on eBay. Make sure, that photos explictly show FRU PN: 04X6014 on module's label. Models without it will not work.

Tried a fresh reinstall and reformat of Windows 7 on my X250.  But, once I unplug it a single time and re-plug it in, the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver no longer functions correctly in the Device Manager and returns the following error message:"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)" this seems to be resolve after restart the error returns upon plugging. I positive that this has something to do with the installed Lenovo softwares (power Manager etc) since this issue is not present on other brand laptops. Really need help to point out the software thats causing error.

Answer:Thinkpad X250 is using MBR or GPT?

Dear Sir Welcome to Lenovo Community first of all let me remind you before u make any format or any resize or any division for the partitions that u will lose the recovery partition or the recovery media.i believe that you can not boot from a GPT disk in legacy BIOS mode, it is necessary to either switch to UEFI booting or create a MBR Partition Table Best Of Luck

I ve got a new laptop that's thinkpad x250. the spec states that it's "4GB DDR3L 1600MHz (Max. 8GB) / 0 Free Slot"and 1TB HDD (5400rpm)   It doesn't mention if the RAM is soldered to the motherboard or not. Any ideas if future upgrade is possible? Will the warranty void immediately as I unscrew the backplate? By the way, can the HDD be upgraded by myself to SSD later?  Thank you

Answer:thinkpad x250 , can it upgrade

Hi and welcome, kennyabcd2011x250 supports up to 16 GB RAM with BIOS version starting with 1.12.There is one 204-pin SO-DIMM socket. You can upgrade HDD yourself. Note, there is a chance you have SSHD (HDD + 8GB NAND flash memory) or HDD + cache SSD installed, depending on the laptop model (MTM).If you are worried about warranty, purchase the parts for upgrade from Lenovo store. Or do it in the Lenovo authorized service provider. Otherwise do not carry laptop with 3rd party parts installed to the service company, just remove them..

My x250 is having some issues. While on, the fan constantly runs on max, and when the computer is shut down, a fan error shows up on the BIOS screen for a moment before dissapearing. The computer seems to otherwise work fine, and the CPU doesn't seem to be running at an abnormally high temperature. Any suggestions?

Answer:ThinkPad X250 Fan Issues

Hi JM,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I understand that you are getting fan error before system is shutting down.

Possible causes for fan error could be dried lubrication in the fan, worn bearings, or just a dust build up. Hence try cleaning the fan once.

Ambient temperature should be taken into consideration. System will shut down during increased loads on the CPU or GPU.

This happens when the CPU or GPU overheats - typically above 95C. It?s a protective measure taken as to not fry your CPU.

Did you do a BIOS/driver update recently? Click here to update the latest BIOS driver.
If you open up your task manager, do you see any processes that are consuming high percentages of CPU?
Also run virus scan with the latest virus definitions and check for no viruses or malware.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best Regards,

Poojitha.

I see the dot of the "i" in the ThinkPad logo is back-lit (the dot glows red).  It appears to show the computer is in use, sleeping, etc.  Not sure the value of that given that I seemed to survive without it in all my previous ThinkPads.  Does anyone have any insight as to why they added the red-dot "i"?  For those that may not have noticed, it is in the ThinkPad brand logo on the backside of the LCD (backside of the computer screen - facing away from you as you use the system). Is there more value to this than meets the eye?  Just curious. Thank you.

Hi! I have a Thinkpadx250 running Windows 8 and I've noticed that when I switch tabs within the browser, or even change programs, or minimise things to the desktop, the brightness changes. Its not automatically, it comes after a few seconds and pulses, almost, darkening or brightening each post. Now, I've been in the power settings and I have disabled "Adaptive Brightness" all across the board. I've also turned off Display Power Saving Technology in the Intel Graphics Control Panel, however, this problem persists while plugged in, and there's no option to change it while plugged in. I also do not have the Advanced options in the Intel Graphics Control Panel, as I have found that solution already, and it is unavailable to me. I'd really like to get this resolved as honestly, it gives me a bit of a headache,

I'm not a Lenovo tech.  I think you'll find what you need in the Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad X250    RAM is socketed.  You'll also find instructions on how to remove and replace the drive.

The drive details are in the base specification:  http://psref.lenovo.com/PSREFUploadFile%5CSys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad%20X250/ThinkPad_X250_Platform_Sp...

I am looking to buy the X250. I have an old Lenovo T61 that has worked great, but it only has 4 GB RAM, 32 bit Window's 7 and an older processor, and I am looking to upgrade to something a bit more portable. I use the machine mostly for word processing, surfing the net/video streaming, Adobe Dreamweaver, some mild video editing with Adobe Premiere, and some mild graphics work with Photoshop. Is it worth upgrading to the i7 processor even though the machine only supports up to 8 GB of RAM? Or is it better to save the 200 bucks. Planning on getting it with a solid state drive as well. Would love to get the top of the line on everything, but not sure I can justfity the 2000 dollar price tag right now... Any help / insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, I've just received my new Thinkpad x250 which I ordered on ebay (bad decision)  and it looks suspicious.  Firstly, it doesn't have a fingerprint reader - I've never met x250s without fingerprint readers, also lenovo website didn't allow to customize it this way. Secondly, the overall case seems not genuine (for example, "x250" label looks different than on the official pictures). Also, it has weird serial number (starting with 20CLS...) that cant be found on the PSREF and warranty started 3 days before purchase. Am i paranoid or it's worth returning it to seller? Thank you!Ilya

Answer:Thinkpad x250 - fake suspicion

you can get without fingerprint, webcam and so on but thats only special order within companies only so either person got this off his jobb but sold it after as i new condition since he wasn't happy with it, Could you send some pictures of your laptop so me and others on here can see how exactly is it fake?

I have installed the battery but I don't know how to remove it Both position 1 and position 2 of the battery latch are now locked. Now position 1 cannot be slided to the unlocking position. It always reboundes back to unlocking position. I don't know if it's correct way to hold both position 1 and position 2 at the same time and push the battery out. I am not sure if it's correct method or if it would cause any physical harm to the battery

Simply, I can't insert special characters using alt-codes. The ThinkPad X250 does not have a NumLock key and has no numpad. I've tested Fn+Alt using each Alt key and all the combinations of Fn and FnLk available in the bios and on the keyboard to no avail. Copy/Paste from the character map and inserting special characters in Word are cumbersome workarounds. I would greatly prefer to use alt-codes because it's more efficient for frequently inserting characters into formulas. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hello, Last week my X250 installed a significant Windows 10 update and then a BIOS update. Since then, frequently, but I don't think always, when I restart the laptop after it had been in standby the machine actually restarts. When you open the lid, the green power light in the power button flashes rapidly and then the machine reboots, with the obvious consequence that open documents are lost etc. I cannot be absolutely certain that this is linked to one of the updates, but I have had the machine for just under a year and this had never happened before. It is not a battery issue as this shows a good charge level after a restart from standby. Has anyone come across a similar problem? Many thanks in advance for any advice. Paul

Dear Community,I am going to buy Lenovo Thinkpad X250 with croatian keyboard layout, beacuse of its attractive price. I am wondering if there is any option of changing a layout to US/UK? Here's the croatian keyboard layout:http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/IPcAAOSwFGNWTh6b/s-l1600.jpgThere is a key between "shift" key and letter "Y" key. UK/US keyboard does not have the weird key. How will the signals be passed in case od UK/US keyboard? Will it work properly?Kind regards,Dimi

Answer:ThinkPad X250 - changing keyboard layout

The keyboard follows the layout from what os is applied to so if keys are different it won't Mather so you can use English keyboard layout in operating system and still have the croatian keyboard layout on the laptop but the keyboard will function as English layout so you don't have to worry about that part as long you get an English keyboard you are fine

Answer:Thinkpad x250 - System status indicator not light up

I don't know about the x250, but on other machines, there is a separate 0.5 amp fuse that handles just those lights. If that is the same on the x250, it would require a motherboard swap.

Hi all, I have a ThinkPad X250 which came with a smart card reader from Lenovo. I don't need the card reader and would like to swap it out for the M.2 subcard for the ability to install a second M.2 SSD. I have found the FRUs for the M.2 subcard (04x3827) and the cable (04x3939), but looking at the pictures of the cable and looking at the motherboard, I can't see anywhere it can physically be connected. Has anyone attempted to do this before, or am I the first to try this? I've already ordered the parts, so worst case I'm $30 out of pocket, but it seems strange that there isn't a corresponding connector on the motherboard anywhere. I can't see Lenovo making two versions of the motherboard where one is for systems without the subcard and one is for systems with it. Does anyone have any insight on this?

windows 10 enterprise x64 fall creators update (build 16299.15) has following problems:- build-in ethernet (intel i218-lm (3) ) shows no connection in os and no network (cable is present and nic leds are active).- wireless adapter (intel dual band wireless-ac 7265) does not see wireless networks.- audio device is absent. in device manager only high definition audio controller [pci bus 0, device 27] has problem (device cannot start. code 10).all these happened after installing build 16299.15 on top of latest regular win10ent x64 version, also this is happened on clean install of insider preview build 16296 from iso and upgrading to build 16299.15.i tested build 16299.15 with default drivers from ms windows update, i did install all drivers from lenovo site with system update tool. nothing helps.there is one solution for wired lan - after installing full set of intel's drivers, running diagnostic on network adapter fix connection problem until next reboot.P.S. Hi Voljka,For company or production environment, Windows Insider Preview / Release Preview builds is not recommended, as the drivers may not be ready for all types of hardware.  I would suggest you revert back to Windows 10 RS3 (15063), and wait until it is ready and show up in the Windows Update.

I had an X201 and last year upgraded to the x240. Along with the loss of the physical trackpoint buttons, lenovo also drastically changed the trackpoint hardware. The trackpoint height was shortened, the overall sensitivity/acceleration was drastically reduced, and the "press-to-select" functionality was removed. Does anyone know if those issues have also been addressed in the new x250? That is, is this basically the old (better) trackpoint that was used in prevoius models (e.g., the x201), or is it the same (**bleep**ty) trackpoint as in the x240, just with physical buttons.  Thanks,Chris

Answer:x250 Trackpoint Question

Also, I tried to ask this question in a sales chat, and got the response "the trackpad functionality has been designed to reproduce that of older models."   I said I wasn't interested in the trackpad, just the trackpoint, and asked explicitly whether I could register a mouse click by pressing the trackpoint.  That caused the rep (or bot) to disconnect... after two full minutes of waiting I was requed for a new rep.  Thanks Lenovo for that great customer service experience.

Is Lenovo putting on a different coat of this texture now or is there lack of coating? I used to be loyal to Thinkpads but the only thing that irritated me was those corner wear. Thanks in advance!

I recently bought a 2nd hand ThinkPad x250 with pretty low specs. I want to investigate the possibility to upgrade the screen from the IPS Non-Touch HD to a FHD touchscreen. At many places I read it is not possible because 'the motherboard is different', but I cannot find any motherboard with or without touch support. I suspect that it's not the motherboard itself not supporting the digitizer, but some other part that needs to be replaced or added to the system. Is it an option to buy a working complete X240 with touchscreen and swap components to move the touchscreen to the X250? I don't want to swap the motherboard itself because then I basically end up with a X240 in a X250 housing with only 8GB Ram support, and I want to upgrade to 16GB.

By Boris Groendahl
BONN (Reuters) - Deutsche Telekom's mobile arm T-Mobile will use Web search leader Google as the starting point for surfing the Internet on its mobile phones to promote Internet usage, T-Mobile said on Wednesday.

T-Mobile, Europe's second-largest mobile operator, is moving to provide full Internet access on its phones, abandoning the unpopular "walled garden" concept in which operators give access to their own choice of Web sites.

"With the Google homepage we want tell our customers from the first moment that they are carrying with them the Internet they know from home," said T-Mobile board member Ulli Gritzuhn at a news conference in T-Mobile's Bonn headquarters.

Mobile operators have failed for years to convince subscribers to use their phones for more than calls and text messages. As voice call prices fall, they need to compensate with revenues from Internet usage and other services.

But the vast majority of customers shun mobile Internet services such as T-Mobile's "t-zones" or market leader Vodafone's "Live!." Those who use them do so rarely, and customer surveys show they do not see much use in them.

"Too expensive, too complicated, too little use -- that's our clients' judgment about our current data services," said T-Mobile's Gritzuhn.

T-Mobile expects that mimicking more closely the Internet as people know it from their home or office computers will encourage them to use it... Read more

Hello i have a laptop, with Network & Modem i want to connet to the internet using my Nokia 5110 what do i need and what do i do or is it even possiable p.s i have a Nokia 5110 Data Cable (Sirial)

Thanks for any replys!

Answer:Mobile Internet using mobile phone

a serial data cable can't connect to the internet.
First of all you need a data capable phone which I don't think the 5110 can.

You need a 6210 or 7110 etc more info on nokia website

Even with data phone I've never heard of a suitable cable but you can connect using infrared adapter - you need infrared capability on phone too. I guess it would be dead slow too.

if you want to connect to internet on laptop but a nokia card phone. You put it in you PCMCIA slot after putting your SIM into it and it acts like your phone. It's fast and reliable but about £150 GBP

Hi there, Using a X1 Thinkpad, with mobile broadband module (Ericsson FG5521gw). When a SIM is loaded it comes up and tells me 'No SIM card found'.I've upgraded all the Lenovo software to the latest versions... including Broadband drivers, Access Connections software, etc.Is this a common problem? It seems to be the case in all industry reviews in Australia for all X1s that were tested.1. http://www.arnnet.com.au/short_review/388015?2. http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/notebooks/lenovo/thinkpad_x1_1291-23m/388015?Is this a known problem?    Do we have faulty broadband modules being shipped?I'll speak to  Lenovo support  -- just wondering if others are experiencing the same issue?

We have the same issue on german X1s. On mine Lenovo has already changed the mainboard twice and also the WWAN card. No success. Sim is still not being recognized. Seems to be a faulty sim reader on all units. Very sad.  If you get more details from Lenovo on how to fix it i will be glad to hear from you. I am also in permanent contact with them because for me this WWAN feature is essential.

Hi,
this is the first time I post here and it regards a problem I have with a second-hand laptop (IBM thinkpad t41) that I just bought.

The laptop has got an ATI Radeon Mobile 9000 and the problem I have is that the display on the laptop very frequently starts blinking and getting fuzzy, with apparently no reason.
The problem is especially bad when I try to send the signal to an external tv and to the display at the same time (the display gets really fuzzy and blinking, but not the tv).

I have tried to uninstall and install the drivers many times, I tried with different types of drivers (with the omega ones by the way I could not show the screen on the laptop display and on an external tv at the same time) and I tried to change several options... no result.

I do not have any problem if I unistall all the video card drivers and if I watch the screen just on an external tv. In particular, the screen on the external tv is always fine, I do not get any kind of problems here.

Any idea on how to solve this problem? I still have some weeks to give the laptop back if I want but I would rather prefer to fix it if possible.

Many thanks
Regards

Answer:ATI Radeon Mobile 9000 on Thinkpad T41

Since it occurs ONLY on the LCD and not the output port, it appears you have a bad cable, bad cable connection, or a failing inverter.

Does the caddy in the Thinkpad Mobile Storage Kit (P/N: 4XB0L63274) support the regular 9.5mm thick 2.5 inch Hard Drive or is the laptop limited to only 7mm hard drives?

Hi, my company purchased x240s and the GOBI cards separately and of course they purchased the AT&T version and we use Verizon as our carrier. Now here is the thing, even with that branding from the tech specs on the Lenovo shop portal they look exactly the same. When I install the latest drivers for the GOBI card and Lenovo Access Connections I can get it to somewhat work in the beginning and then it stops working. I tried every conceivable way to get it to work all the time but it's a hit or miss until it permanently fails and the sim I use is from an x230 that also has a GOBI card. My question is does it really make a difference if it is branded as AT&T since the GOBI card does work at some point and if it doesn't matter am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help!

Answer:Thinkpad T440p: Mobile Broadband - it's Inactive button !!!

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad T440p, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it. If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation which will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hello everyone!Recently i've bought IBM ThinkPad R31: Celeron Mobile 1200mhz, 512ram. i've cleaned hdd and installed win xp pro from scratch. Also i've downloaded driversfrom ibm website and installed them - including power management driver, battery maximiser etc. After few minutes of work i've noticed weirdthing, clockrate dropped from 1200mhz to ... 150mhz!!.Notebook slowed down to i386 level, and only thing left was to restartthe system. After restart, again 1200mhz... ok its nice.. but, then, when i started to use more cpu power (compressing some files, installingapps), notebook's fan started noisy and clockrate dropped to 150mhz. Ileft computer for about 15 minutes thinkig maybe cpu temperature is toohigh and it needs some "fresh air", but when i was back - still 150mhz,and after restart .. 1200mhz. I thought that its maybe somethinginvolving Intel SpeedStep technology, but as far as i know MobileCeleron has no SpeedStep! So what is going on? This happens all thetime, no matter if i'm working on AC or DC - when im starting to dosomething more cpu power consuming, fan starts for a few seconds andclockrate drops not raising until restart. As I said: its a newest biosinstalled, fresh win xp pro, and all drivers from ibm website. I triedwith Power managment settings but nothing, it doesnt matter if i setpower profile to "Always On", "Laptop", "High Performance" etc. - clockdrops anyway. I cannot watch divx for more then few minutes, i cannotreview my photos under acdsee ... Read more

I've been trying to get my Lenovo x131e laptop running Windows 10 to see the mobile hotspot created with my Blackberry Q10.The hotspot, which broadcasts the SSID "Blackberry1234", only appears as a 'Hidden network' on the x131e. I can manually connect to it by entering the SSID name and password, but when I return to use it again the only way to get it working is to delete it and recreate the connection from scratch. Other computers can see the same mobile hotspot "Blackberry1234" SSID and connect without any problems. This Lenovo x131e Thinkpad uses a Broadcom 302.11n network dapter.I've tried:- resetting the TCP/IP stack- deleting the Wifi adapter (and driver) and having it reinstall- updating the Network adapter driverIf I use a D-Link AC1200 USB network adapter on the x131e the mobile hotspot's "Blackberry1234" SSID displays properly and I can connect without issue.I tested a mobile hotspot created by an Android mobile phone and it's SSID displays properly using the same Broadcom 302.11n network adapter on the x131e.Using an SSID sniffing program (inSSIDer 4) with the same Broadcom 302.11n/x131e/win10 system the "Blackberry1234" SSID is displayed, but the Win10 available network list shows it only as a Hidden Network. So the issue seems to be with the Broadcom 302.11n network adapter and how it displays this BB Q10's SSID when running under Windows 10.Is there an obscure setting in the Broadcom 302.11n network adapter that might be causing this issue? Hi all.I've recently buyed a ThinkPad W530 (Lenovo Model Number: N1K4JIX).Tecnical sheet and distributor sheet say that in this model there is an "3G Open SIM" WWAN card. In fact, i've under the battery the slot for insert my 3G Telephon VODAFONE SIM.The problem is that i not can see nothing (software or hardware switch) that can control 3G Broadband connection.I update the notebook at Win8, with shipped Lenovo CD, i try to install ERICHSON drivers but this give me error (it's impossible initialize device). Now, my intret is in first how i know if i really have an Mobile Broadband Mini Card installed and not only the SIM slot and, after iìm sure of this, how can i enable and use 3G connection with my laptop?Thank very much at all, regards,Mauro.

Answer:ThinkPad W530 Mobile Broadband Mini Card

Hi, mauroreggio

If you navigate to Control Panel ? Device Manager, you should be able to see the listed network adapters in the computer. Can you post what these adapters are or take a screenshot of them? If a mobile broadband card is installed in your machine, it should show up there.

Best,
Adam

You don't really need this software to use your WWAN card, in fact even you succeed to install it, it might prove unuseful to you (Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation is an application for ThinkPad systems to support mobile broadband (3G/4G) activation for various service providers)(various providers not equal all providers). You could use Windows to manage the WWAN connection directly. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/use-mobile-broadband-to-connect-to-the-internethttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/mobile-broadband-from-start-to-finish

you will want to check whetner there is a physical card installed. the x200 does have the card slot, but that does not mean that wwan card is installed. and even then ,its also not confirmed whether you have the wwan antennas installed. you will want to check your windows device manager and make sure you have a 3g modem listed under network adapters. if you dont, the card is unlikely to have been installed physically.

I purchased a W530 with integrated mobile and have been trying to connect with various networks to no avail. I have a Type 2436-CTO S/N xxxxxxx 13/08 and Windows 8 came installed when I received. I have upgraded BIOS and everything that Lenovo solutions says I need to update.

The MEID is A1xxxxxxxxxxx. It came with an integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355-Gobi 3000 modem. I have downloaded an updated driver for Windows 8 for the MC8355. I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.

Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.

Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. I am considering getting T-mobile's WebConnect service for my laptop. It is supposedly up to 4G; but, they freely admit speed is dependent on signal quality.

My question is about the WebConnect device, itself--the thing that plugs into the USB port. Are there any third-party suppliers for these devices?

My logic is that if there are third-party suppliers for cell phones, why not third-party suppliers for these devices also.

And, while on the subject, what do you call the hardware? I don't even know what to put into Google for a search.

TIA

Answer:T-mobile WebConnect Question (I don't know where else to ask)

Cellular modem
Air Card.
Mobile Broadband.

Hello guys/gals. I just had a quick question for you.
When you train your phone to recognise your eyes better, do you look at the centre of the screen, lower portion of the screen or red light?
I look at the red light but it is starting to get annoying having to look up to detect my eyes rather than continuing looking at the screen.

I look at the red light but it is starting to get annoying having to look up to detect my eyes rather than continuing looking at the screen. best way to find out is to try it out - you've got nothing to lose, right?

I don't know if this is one of those taboo'd subjects because its borderline for sure.

Recently I bought a Windows Mobile Smart Phone from Cingular. (Called the Cingular 2125). It has a version of Windows Media Player on it. You can store songs and video's on it much like the new IPod's, except using an SD card.

I have been able to put songs on it, however, the seller explained to me that I could also put movies on there if my SD card was big enough (1gb at least apparently). The only problem is I couldn't figure out how to get my dvd's onto my computer, shrink them, and sync them with windows media player.

Any information on this topic is appreciated, and anybody who can provide software (free..? or am i wishing too much) and applications that wll help me with my task, is now my friend haha.

Answer:Question about Windows Mobile 5.0

as long as u own the DVD's then i believe this comes under fair use, so u are allowed to put them on your phone, for you to view (at least in the UK).

What u need to do is convert the DVD's into a format that will play on your phone. There's quite a few different tools to rip dvd's and again more to convert them to something that will play on your phone. I havent done anything like this for quite a while, so not sure what the latest and greatest is. I would recommend this windows mobile site: www.modaco.com to find the right conversion tools/settings and maybe www.videohelp.com to get them and dvd rippers.

btw your SD Card neednt be 1GB, it all depends on the format and settings u convert the DVD to (you need to find an optimum level, between quality and size), you may get away with 512mb, or even 256mb for 30min shows

I am going to buy a Samsung Nexus S 4G Android Phone (Sprint) (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Nexus...DVUI/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1308076115&sr=8-6)
I am worried that the phone might be a CDMA phone And I will not be able to unlock it , so If any guy out there can help me in recognizing that this phone is GSM or CDMA?

Thanks

Answer:A Small Question Regarding a Mobile that I am going to buy

If it is a Sprint phone it is like my EVO 4G I currently have with Sprint. They do not use GSM cards. So I am fairly sure the phone will be CDMA. As all Sprint pcs phone are. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to stick a 2600 XP mobile processor in a 266 FSB Motherboard. I have a Gigibyte 7DXE board. Will it work?

Answer:Mobile AMD 2600+ Question

That board has a maximum FSB of 266? That sucks =/ But yes a mobile chip will work in there because for one, that mobile chip I believe has an FSB of 266 anyway so you really wouldn't have to worry either way, but if I'm mistaken and it's actually 333FSB, then it'd still work provided your motherboards BIOS has enough options in there that would allow for overclocking. You don't want to overclock, but you need some of the options that you use in overclocking such as the FSB otherwise known as the CPU Frequency sometimes in the BIOS and the multiplier. A stock 2600+ is like 133x15 = 2GHz that 133 is the CPU Frequency or FSB which when multiplied by 2 133x2 = 266 so that's how you get your FSB. It's due to the RAM being DDR which means DOUBLE data rate that you multiply that number by 2.

So if it's a 266FSB cpu then you have nothing to worry about. If it's a 333FSB CPU then you need to be able to adjust the FSB and the multiplier. So if it's 333FSB and your board only accepts 266FSB then you'd lower the CPU Frequency from 166 (166x2 = 333) down to 133 but then you'd raise up the multiplier so that you could still have the same clockspeed of 2GHz or whatever it's stock is.

Adjusting the CPU FSB also generally requires being able to adjust the AGP and PCI frequencies. The AGP needs to be locked at 66MHz and that'll automatically lock the PCI at 33Mhz where it needs to be.

Hi

I need your opinion. Which one of these Intel processors would be better?

Intel® Pentium® M Processor at 1.6 GHz
or
Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor supporting Hyper-Threading Technology† at 3.33 GHz

I am having a difficult time deciding. Dell is telling me that the first one is the more advanced. And are no longer offering the second choice.

Any info would be great!!!

Specs:
HP Pavilion DV4-1125NR Notebook PC
Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2.0GHz Processor
Windows 7 x64

Currently encoding some video, and when running other CPU intensive tasks, temperature reaches 93C. See attached Real Temp screenshot.

Is this normal? Computer is on flat, clean surface. No dust, clean air pathways.

Couldn't find any data sheet or other information on max temperature on Intel, HP, or any other site.

Input appreciated, thank you.

Hi everyone, Looking at the T430u and will seriously consider it if I get positive feedback on the screen but for now here is my question.  If I was to order the "u" with WWAN, integrated mobile broadband, I see that it comes with the Sierra Wireless Gobi 3000 plus SIM Card for U.S. AT&T - does this mean I can use Lenovo's Mobile Access cellular plan or do I have to sign up for an AT&T plan?  Can't find anything on Lenovo's website to help me out with my question. Thank you,Jim
