I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings,

I have recently Install Windows 8 Pro, I have Sony Vaio VPCEE3J0E. Initially, I downloaded Sony's Pointing Driver (Alps) - 7.107.505.106 and it was just for basic touchpad function.
However, I found about Synaptics and downloaded the latest Synaptics V 16.2.21 and installed it.

Now once I go to my Control Panel ==> Mouse ==> Synaptic Properties, it shows nothing, there isn't any option for touchpad gesture etc.

I don't know why it isn't working but I think it should have worked. Please if anyone could help me.

Thanks.

Answer:Synaptics Touch Driver Not working in Windows 8 Sony Vaio

One more thing I don't know why, no matter how many times I install in my
pointing device properties ==> Device Settings, I have Standard Pointing Device instead of Synaptics Pointing Device.

Is it that my notebook doesn't support Synaptics drivers

I attempted to disable the pointing device (touch pad) on the keyboard since I'm using an external mouse and I often make the mouse move with my wrists leaning on the touch pad. The first thing I disabled was the touch screen driver. I re-enabled that OK. But when I un-installed the driver for what was called the Synaptics touch pad, the touch pad remained operational. So I don't know what I un-installed, and I cannot get the system to recognize any new hardware with a hardware scan. Was the Synaptics touch pad driver something extraneous that isn't used? Thanks for your help. Lee

Toshiba released an updated Synaptics touch pad driver yesterday that fixed my scrolling issues:

http://support.toshiba.com/support/v...tentId=4002846

I had 2-finger scroll but not 1-finger scroll. I tried a solution of adding a DWORD to the registry that did not work (and I won't repost here since it didn't work).

The file is 168 MB so...it may take awhile to download. A reboot is required.

Good luck,

As per the query we understood that you are facing issues with touchpad not working in your Lenovo Y550 laptop.

Boot the system into safe mode and check for the issue, uninstall the driver and check with the windows generic driver.

Hello

My fairly new Toshiba Equium laptop has the synaptics touchpad which worked ok until a few days ago and i can only move the cursor now, and not scroll in any direction.

I have recently installed Vista SP1.

When i have found the application and tried to open this to enable it, i receive an error message saying it cannot be found. Also, after visiting the Synaptics web page to download the latest driver it tells me to refer to Toshibas support pages, but there is nothing here.

Can anyone let me know how to re-enable this please?

Thanks

Answer:Synaptics touch pad not working

What model number do you have? Toshiba should have a support page with the synaptics software you need - if they don't have it listed you may need to give them a call and get a copy sent out. The software may be on the driver disks that came with the laptop.

Did the touchpad scoll stop working at the exact same time you installed SP1? If not, you could try a system restore (by rolling back the system a few days) and see if that helps

Hi there! I have a very annoying problem with my touchpad, I cant figure out how to enable the multi-touch gestures and drivers don't seem to work at all. First of all, my laptop is an Acer Aspire E5-572G-75MW. The drivers on the cd are for windows 8, (there's a synaptics and a elantech driver, when i try installing both of them, they install and at the end i get and "not needed, no device for update present"). I tried installing an elantech for w7 driver and i got an "ready to use" status at the end but absolutely nothing changed, no item in install/uninstall options, no item in control panel or in the mouse category, nothing. I tried the same thing with a W7 synaptics driver and i get the same status at the end but here i get two options:

Again nothing changed, even after restarting. I am unable to see any settings regarding my touchpad, this is all i get in the control panel mouse category:

That's all i get no matter what i try to install, i can't get anything to stick around, i've tried similar laptop's drivers, again with no luck at att and sucks since my touchpad has the clicking buttons integrated into the touchpad, its really annoying trying to scroll something. I tried enabling two-finger scrolling through some registry tricks but i couldnt find the right items and it didnt work. I dont even know what my touchpad's manufacturer is, all i get is that HID compliant mouse. Thank you!

I downloaded the manual. The touchpad is explained on p17 of the manual. Since the notebook came with 8.1 and I can only find drivers for Windows 8, you may not get full usage out of the hardware because you are not running the correct version of Windows. The best drivers come from the hardware manufacturer and they are no providing any Win 7 drivers.

I am setting up this laptop for a family member. It came with win8, but I put in a new ssd and installed win7 pro ( I am tech support and I hate win8 and don't know it well enough to take care of the inevitible support issues). I downloaded all the appropriate drivers from the Lenovo website for the correct version of windows and this machine. Everything seemed to work fine. Then, for quite a while, when I booted the machine it would start up with the energy management software, or the keyboard, or the one touch keys and/or the touchpad, or all of the above, not working. Or the touchpad would eventually work, but with almost no functionality and the synaptics setup tab showing only a patent, and no options for tweaking the touchpad. And the Fn F6 buttons might show the icon for the touchpad being shut off, but is was not. I uninstalled, reinstalled, tried different versions, eventually I thought I had it beat. I could boot the machine and everything actually works. Until today. After several reboots the keyboard and touchpad were refusing to work. Then after several more boots, the keyboard worked, but not the TP. Then the TP would work, but with limited functionality. A few more reboots and the TP is working as it should. I thought maybe having my corded mouse plugged in when booting might be confusing it somehow, but unplugging it and several reboots later there was no joy. Other times it lit right up with the mouse plugged in and the TP worked as i... Read more

I'm using Windows 10 64-bit system, and have used it for over a year with no problems. This problem started kinda weird out. I was watching a movie, and I paused it to go take a smoke. I came back five minutes later and now I couldn't move the cursor from the touchpad, or barely. I tried deleting the synaptics driver and installing the latest version quite a few times. Here's the thing though, the touchpad works without the driver, though sometimes left click, and right clicking doesn't work, however I'm still able to move the cursor. When I install the synaptics touchpad driver left click and right click works, but I am not really able to move the cursor. I can see the touchpad respons to the pressure of my fingers moving across it, but it doesn't move the cursor along the screen or only a small amount.  I have tried different prressures on the touchpad, but with no luck. The problem occurred a few hours ago.

The touchpad of my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is not working with Windows 8.1 or the newly installed Windows 10. It is neither recognised in the Device Manager, nor the Synaptics TouchPad Driver is listed among the installed programs in the Control Panel. Moreover, when I try to install the latest verion of this driver obtained from the Lenovo website, I am warned that "A previous version of the Synaptics TouchPad Driver is installed.", and that I should remove it first before continuing. If I try to install this version anyway, the installation is apparently successful, but I still cannot use the touchpad (nor the driver seems to be installed anywhere). What should I do to solve this annoying issue? Many thanks for your attention.

Are there files in the "C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP" folder? i had an issue where I couldn't uninstall the synaptics driver via settings and had to do it manually from an administrator command line. I used the following command: rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynISDLL.dll",standAloneUninstall Once you have it uninstalled does windows update try to install a driver on its own?

I have a L530. Because the latest UltraNav driver is such a pain in the derriere (when I wake up the computer from sleep or hibernation, the UltraNav settings in Mouse properties turn gray, and they reset themselves.  I turned off tap to click, but whenever the settings go gray, it undoes this), I uninstalled it and tried reinstalling the latest version on Lenovo's website (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS028996).  That didn't make the graying issue go away, so I instead installed the latest Synaptics driver found here: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers However I ran into an issue when I couldn't see all the settings in Mouse properties (see here: http://i.imgur.com/7gVClYb.png).  There definitely are more settings than this (i.e. options to disable tap to click, among others).  How do I view all the settings?  Also if there are suggestions for drivers that allow me to access all the settings (and don't undo themselves), what are they? Thanks!

Yesterday my touchpad was suddenly turned on and I tried to disable it with the settings I always used (configuration screen) However, when i tried to open the control zone for it, it told me it couldn't connect to the driver. I decide to try and reinstall the driver, but it said another driver was already on my computer. I could delete it within the program files on the configuration screen, but there was nothing. So I couldn't deinstall it at all. Its really annoying because I never use my touchpad and my hand keeps brushing over it, so my mouse or text keeps going away.  Please I would like a solution. I can add files to what my screen keeps saying; but it's all in dutch. (Also my smart connect technology keeps flashing a yellow triangle and I have no idea what I have to do against that)

Since I received my Inspiron 17 5000 (5749), Win8.1 x64 the Synaptics touchpad works but the driver settings do not. When I go to modify settings from the control panel, clicking on the Synaptics DELL Touchpad link/button, nothing happens. Hi, I have the Lenovo Yoga 720 15 IKB 80X7 (4K display), since many days ago, I'm currently posting this on 7-20-2017, the fingerprint of my laptop stopped working so now In the windows hello sign in menu it shows a message in which it says "Windows Hello is not available on this device", the fingerprint option doesn't appear there anymore. When I check the issue on the "update device drivers menu" an exclamation mark appears next to the synaptics drivers WBDI, in the section of biometric devices. When I click on it to see more information it appears this message: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31){Operation Failed}The requested operation was unsuccessful." I show you in the picture the information I get in the driver tab. I do not have the option to roll back the driver so I can't make it work again. I checked and it is the last driver available so far but it doesn't work. By the way I have the same exclamation mark and the same message of error in the driver "system interface foundation driver", code 31..., is there any link with it?I've already re installed windows twice through the option "reset this pc" from the configuration menu, one without deleting my files and the other removing all, but I still had the same issue with the fingerprint reader since the beginning of the new start, it didn't work. Does anybody have the same issue and a solution? Thanks in advance

Okay so i've been struggling to find a fix to this and Lenovo support hasn't really been too useful either. Basically the trackpoint is having issues working even with the newest bios, etc. and synaptics driver. It also is having problems with the old driver too?? Could it be in conflict with the new bios update? Lenovo Support gave me the advice to reformatte as it is a "software" issue and to repeat the same above process. Yet the problem still persists.  What steps should I try next?  Lenovo support seems reluctant to give me a hardware exchange Thanks in advance, any advice is open to testing! I'm just fed up with new drivers having bugs like this.

Hi,

I've just upgraded from Windows XP Home SP2 to Windows Vista Ultimate on my Toshiba Satellite A100.
I was wondering where I could download a driver for Synaptics touchpad that works?

I tried the generic drivers from Synaptics' website, but they do not install completely (the second component always fails to install).
Then I tried the ones from Toshiba's website, but The Vista-compatible ones display an error that says error code "#5B4 @10".

Then I tried The Windows XP-compatible drivers, and they work perfectly, except the fact that I cannot configure enhanced features such as virtual scrolling and tap zones.
I click on the icon in the tray, click on The Device Settings tab, and whenever I click on The Settings button nothing happens.

Any help?

Usually the driver from the Toshiba page should be fully valid and should works.
Please note that there are different A100 series and if you download any drivers, be sure that you choose the right drivers for the right notebook series.

Did you check if the touchpad settings can be set and changed in the control panel??
As far as I know the touchpad properties can be set in the ?Mouse? option which can be found in the control panel!!!

In the ?Device settings? tab you should select the ?synaptics touchpad? and press ?settings?.
New window will pop up and you will find many options controlling the touchpad settings!!!

bye

I am running Windows 10 on an Acer and recently downloaded and installed the update for the Synaptic touchpad (January 17, 2017).  After rebooting my laptop, I can use the touch pad to move the cursor when logging in, but once the system as loaded,
I cannot move the cursor using the touch pad.  I can left-click and right-click, and shrink and expand on the touch pad, but have no control over the cursor.  I currently have a mouse attached to the computer in order to move the cursor.
When I click on the link for more information about the update, there currently is no information.  Quite frustrating.
Please advise as how to resolve this issue.
Thank you.

Synaptics Touch Pad v7.5 white light not working, if I disable TouchPad the red light does come on. Is there a fault or is there some way to turn it on and off? The Touch Pad appears to be working correctly.
I believe the problem started after I used "AdwCleaner" to sort out my Laptop.

Answer:Synaptics Touch Pad v7.5

RISC OS user,
Quite often it is possible to switch the touch-pad on or off with an Fn + F Key combination. On my Advent Netbook the combination is Fn + F3. Look for a picture of a touch-pad on one of the function keys, often in blue.

I recently reinstalled the OS on a Compaq nx9010 laptop. I reinstalled all the drivers that were on the recovery CD's. Everything seems to work OK, bu the touchpad won't allow you to "tap".

You can use the touchpad just fine, but when you want to click or double-click, you need to use the "mouse" buttons located just below the touchpad. The touchpad no longer responds to taps.

What might have happened? Everything looks OK in Device Manager.

Hi, I wonder if i could get some help, I have purchased a Lenovo C40 all in one for my sons xmas present from Argo.  Serial number ************, I was under the impression it had touch screen capabilities (acording to Argos it has a 10 point touch screen), the instruction book says it has and the internet says it has however there doesn't seem to be a touch screen driver.  Can someone advise me if this computer is touch screen or not.

Thanks

Answer:Lenovo C40 Touch Screen not working

I don't think there are touchscreen drivers, I looked on the support site and could only find display drivers. It could be that the touch screen isn't working, or your model doesn't support it.

One fine day, touch/pen support simply started working. I did everything I could, reinstalled Windows 8 from scratch, even installed Windows 8.1 in a separate partition. I used the DzPen, MTouch drivers (and tried various combinations of the versions). All of them fail saying 'A supported tablet was not found on this system' I upgraded the BIOS recently - that is the only thing I could think of, so I actually tried an older versio, but still no good. My tablet PC that costs close to 2K dollars is now very simply a laptop - and it is past the warranty. What gives? It's kind of sad as I considered other tablet pcs and disregarded them as Lenovo was supposedly superior in terms of hardware/drivers....

Dear Lenovo enthusiasts, Is there a bluetooth installed on Lenovo C540 AIO Touch? How do I know if bluetooth is installed? If not, can I install bluetooth? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Lenovo C540 Touch, Bluetooth driver install?

Hi mlie,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You can check Device Manager
Press WIndows key + X and select Device Manager
Under Device Manager the Bluetooth Device will show with a Bluetooth Icon

Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If you don't have that then you might not have a Bluetooth Install or detected.

I have seen two Website where this Model is Displayed but both does not have Bluetooth as an option so it is possible that your system does not have one too.

One Option I would suggest it to get a Bluetooth USB Reciever.
Its so small and cost effect

I have access to a touch screen monitor so was looking at the windows touch. Which essentially makes use of multitouch, much like an iPhone.

Anyway, is it possible to get this same functionality from a synaptics track pad? I.e. use two fingers to zoom in and the such on a notebook.

It doesn't have the 'pinch' function that I mentioned. But does take in 2 and 3 fingered gestures. There are some nice features in it, but I would still like something like the pinch function if anyone finds something.

I have used a Synaptics Touchpad on my W7 laptop for 18 months without a problem. Now it won't work. I've tried the obvious key strokes like Fn/f7 and even update the driver but I still have the same problem.Essentially if I completely delete the Synaptics Touchpad drivers then reboot the Touchpad works as a PS/2 mouse until I reboot when it doesn't work at all. If I reinstate the latest version of the Synaptics driver then again the Touchpad works until I reboot when it doesn't work. This has only happened over the holiday period and I'm beginning to suspect a MS Windows update may have caused the problem as I've not used the laptop much over the past two or three weeks.Has anyone any idea where I should look to find the problem - I'm guessing some service is installed that turns the Touchpad off when I reboot.

Answer:Synaptics Touch Pad problems

I should have said Device Manager shows the Synaptic device installed and fully functional when the driver is installed. It then shows PS/2 Mouse when the Synaptics device/driver is uninstalled.

Hi All, Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I'd really appreciate some help from anyone with getting the USB ports on my Lenovo S20 Touch  to work properly. My ipod can connect to my USB ports and the laptop will instantly recognise it and it will show up.  However, whenever I try connecting my digital camera to the laptop via any of the USB ports, it doesn't acknowledge that anything is connected and there's no way for me to load it up. I'd really apprecaiate some help with this asap as I need to transfer some photos from the camera onto my laptop fairly urgently. Thanks very much for looking and for your help. Cheers Steve

Answer:Lenovo S20 Touch USB ports not working properly - please help

Hello Stevek8Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.Sounds like there will be an issue with the camera and not the unit itself.

If other units are recognised when connected to the unit, then this would indicate an issue with your camera setup.
Refer to the userguide/manual of the camera, that should have a section on it that would walk you through setting up the camera with your PC.

Are you able to see if the camera is able to be recognised in other units?

Also, Try to download the Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Help please, My Built-in Microphone isn't working! I was using an earbuds that have a microphone, now it's lost because one day I found my laptop isn't connected to the earbuds, I searched for the earbuds (Headphones) and never found it. Then tried to talk in skype I found the person I'm talking to isn't listening to me. I checked Recording playback settings in sounds I talked and never saw the microphone bar get up, I opened the Set up microphone, and put "Other" option, and talked and it didn't hear me, I checked device manager I found the microphone is enabled. I figured out that the Microphone isn't working anymore! Please Help!

Answer:Lenovo Z400 Touch Microphone not working!

hi AAG_1,

Just to verify, do you only see one microphone device under the Recording Tab?

if yes, can you try one of the following:
1. Under Control Panel (large icon view) > Sound > Recording Tab, right click and enable "Show hidden devices" and ensure that the built-in Microphone is not disabled.
- Link to picture

2. Under the microphone properties, ensure that the Mic is not muted and adjust the Microphone boost (see this guide)

3. Uninstall the Realtek Audio Driver from Control Panel > Programs and reboot (Windows will now install a generic sound driver) then re-install the audio driver from the D:\Drivers\Audio folder or from the Z400 Touch driver page

If all of the steps doesn't work and Skype doesn't report any Microphone device then it's possible that the built-in Mic is faulty and you may need to contact lenovo for service.

I have Lenovo Y70 Touch with GTX 960m and a month after I bought it, touchscreen stopped working. Restart helped but the problem started to occur more often. After some time even restart don't help. Here's what I tried:-rolling back to Windows 8.1 (didn't work)-reinstall and update graphic drivers (didn't work)-reinstall Windows 10 from usb (didn't work)-restart the computer (worked some time ago, now doesn't help)-reset the computer by pressing and holding power button for 30 second when turned off (didn't work)-bios update (helped until next restart)-delete all hid devices from device manager (sometimes works, I have to try this multiple times)-disable turning off all usb devices to conserve power (didn't work)-changed usb power settings in windows (didn't work) Sometimes the touchscreen works when I log into Windows and stops working after few seconds after that. Sometimes after disabling hid devices it works until next restart. It's really annoying, I've read about this on the Microsoft website and it said "restart your computer"... Does anyone else has a problem like this? Has anyone found a solution?

Answer:Lenovo B50-30 AIO touch screen stop working

hi wileecoyote,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1.. Press the Windows key? +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the device manager, click View > Show Hidden Devices and under Human Interface Devices section, uninstall the HID-compliant device touch screen (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).
    - Sample image

When finished, reboot the system and open system properties to determine if the OS is detecting the touch capability.
   - Link to picture (Touchscreen not detected, proceed to Step 2)
   - Link to picture (Touchscreen is detected)

2. Restart the machine and tap F2 to boot into the System Recovery options. On the menu, try to touch an item but don't proceed in doing the system recovery -- this is to check if the digitizer (the hardware part that enables touchscreen functionality) is working.
    - If the Touchscreen is working, boot back into Windows and backup important files then prooceed with the System Recovery.
    - If the Touchscreen is still not working even in the System Recovery menu then it's likely that the digitizer is faulty. Since you already called tech. support, I would recommend doing a follow-up on the repair ticket (your case number#) or send me a private message regarding the machine serial number and case # for me to chec... Hello, it's me again. First I have to say that I would never buy this laptop again, because of all the other issues befor that, but what can we do now. So, I had to upgrade to Win10, because of all GP at work and security issues, so i've found out that my HDMI port is not working like it should be working. i have it connected to second monitor with VGA cable through HDMI to VGA adapter off course. I tested it with other laptop,it works perfectly, so the signal is going through. I also tried to disable and uninstal both of nvidia and intel graphic drivers. But still my second monitor is not recognized and cannot be identified. what else can we do? Help would be very much appreciated, Miha.

Yesterday I updated it to Windows 10 and after that whenever I boot my pc to desktop I get an error message saying that "Unable to start the Dolby audio driver". I tried below thread but I couldn't find audio driver for G400s. Please help me to get Windows 10 audio driver to perform the reinstallation. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/Unable-to-start-the-Dolby-audio-driver-...

Answer:Lenovo Notebook G400s touch Dolby Audio Driver Win...

Hi iyyappan_3,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
First make sure that the Audio driver and the dolby will be in sync.
Open Device Manager
Uninstall the Audio Device Under Sound and gaming controllers / Make sure to place a check in the Delete driver software prompt.

Now make sure you don't have any dolby components
Proceed to Control Panel / Programs / Uninstall a Program
                     Uninstall all Dolby Related programs
                             Restart if Prompted
Now install this software driver

 https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/audio142w81.exe
When you install this software it will show you a directory path whre it will extract, Make sure to Remember the path

This next xtep is important

Open the directory path where the Audio driver installer extracted the Audio driver.

Check all the folders inside it and find the Dolby Installers, Install the Dolby either Advanced audio or Digital plus.

ANd you should now get your dolby back

Hope this helps
Cheers!

How do I stop the touch pad from hogging a huge amount of memory? In the Task Manager, SynTPEnh.exe ( Synaptics TouchPad Enhancements ) hast started using 300,000 to 500,000 K.  It never used to do this. I never use mouse gestures or tap zones or special scrolling functions or anything like that. The only thing I do is plain regular pointing. Are those functions causing the problem and can I get simpler driver that doesn't have them?

Answer:memory leak from Synaptics Touch Pad

I just checked on my t440s how much RAM it's using, and that is 2MB to be precisedo a reinstall of the whole driver, uninstall first.. > there must be something wrong

I have a HP laptop with a Synaptics touchpad. if I am on a document i can put the cursor on any part of the page and scroll down. but if i am on a web page i have to move the cursor to the right side of the page to where you scroll down and then hold down the left mouse button to scroll. i used to be able to scroll the same way on web page as on a document and it is a bit of a pain to have to move to the right and hold down the mouse button.

any ideas out there??

thanks

Edit: I just went on another website and was able to scroll there. this might be something only happening on this site

After upgrading the RAM on my Envy 15 notebook my Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad does not work at all. The device does not show up on device manager, and under system information I get an error code that says "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed." I am not sure what the issue is, but in order to access the primary ram card on an Envy 15 you have to disconnect the keyboard/touchpad assembly from the motherboard. However, I have made sure that the touchpad cable is connected securely, and all other features (keyboard, led lights) all work fine. How do I go about troubleshooting this? Thank you.

Answer:Synaptics Touch Pad does not work after installing new ram

Re-check the internal connections for the touchpad. As it's had to be disconnected to access the RAM slots (a ridiculous design flaw in my opinion) I can't help thinking it has to be a connection issue, especially as Windows doesn't even acknowledge it's presence in Device Manager.

Hello! I've just installed Windows 7 Professional on my HP 350 G1.  I have a problem with touch pad - it works, but just as mouse (and also installed as mouse). I've tried to update and downloaded synaptics driver, but it failed to be installed. I can't delete previous version of Synaptic driver and installed a new one, because it's not in Programmes list at all.  Windows Update doesn't work as weel, if it's relevant.

Does Toshiba have a manager app in control panel for the touchpad? Try rolling all settings there back to default.
