K330 - BIOS wont update.

Question: K330 - BIOS wont update.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to update my BIOS on my Lenovo IdeaCenter K330 Model 7727 from DKKT15AUS to DKJY15AUS. The reason for this is because my new GPU (Radeon RX 480 8GB) wont work. I install it and the computer just powers on but doesnt display anything. The fans all are on including those of the card. I have upgraded the power supply to 650W unit a few years ago from the ideacenter's original.

So the BIOS update installs just fine but, once I restart the system it displays a error message saying: "Error: 0162 Setup data integrity check failure" along with 2 beeps. I restarted the system a couple times to see it the same error comes up and on the 3rd time the system started up without the error message. I then checked the BIOS version and it reverted back to the original version. I am not sure what to do to get the update to work.

I do have windows 10 and the BIOS update is for windows 7. Not sure if that did have an effect.

Thanks for reading.

Preferred Solution: K330 - BIOS wont update.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The support center doesn't allow an option to update the K330 OS to Win10 (which I've had installed over a year now) and I would like to update the BIOS.  Currently installed I have: BIOS Version/Date - LENOVO DKKT20AUS, 3/16/2011The only BIOS update the Lenovo Support center has is for the K330 is for Win 7, and I'm not rolling back my OS just to do that.  Is there any source for a more current update to the BIOS?  Also, I read that there was a recall on the K330 motherboards.  CPU-Z reports the MB model is "To be filled by O.E.M." msinfo32 reports: "System SKU To be filled by O.E.M.".   Anyone have any info on what kind of MB they used for the replacements?

Hi,I need old bios image revision DKKT23AUS or later if existed for IdeaCentre K330 machine. I know that it is no longer on Lenovo servers but maybe someone has it in their private resources or can image from yourstill in the old days  machine via AMIDEWIN or AMIDEDOS. This will end my several weeks od searching. Regards PczarnyI know that it is no longer on Lenovo serversOr later if existed

Answer:IdeaCentre K330 bios DKKT23AUS

If a later version will work, version DKJY15AUS is available from Lenovo's website for the K330 as a CD .iso http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/DESKTOPS-AND-ALL-IN-ONES/IDEACENTRE-K-SERIES-DESKTOPS/IDE...

Yep, I checked the list of available downloads for my new K330 7727-3GU desktop and found that the BIOS on the machine is newer than what is losted on the download site. What gives?

Answer:Why are the listed BIOS versions older than what is installed on my new K330?

Yeh, it's a little confusing sometimes.

If your system is new, then you could have a newer bios than what's listed on the site.  On the other hand, you could have the same bios that's listed, just with a different date.  With the new support site just recently coming online, updates posted on the driver page can be a bit behind.

My suggestion is to read the readme file that's associated with any driver listing and that will give you the correct version of the driver which then can be matched with the version that's on your machine.  Your new machine should have the latest versions of drivers.

I have a IdeaCentre K330 (i7) which I bought 3 Years ago. I have now Windows 8 64 Bit (8.1). And my BIOS Version is DKKT23AUS (BIOS Date 06/10/2011). Is there a newer BIOS version available ? There is on Lenovo site BIOS version 15 (Version DKJY15AUS), but I don't know if that is newer than mine. Can someone help ?I have checked the Lenovo page to search for newer Driver Version. And I realized that the United States Lenovo site is different from the Chineese Lenovo Site. In the Chinese Lenovo Site there are new Drivers listed for the Windows 8 64 Bit operating system and newer versions od Drivers, but in the United States site there is nothing. Is it because the Chineese Site is more frequently updated ? Can I download the Drivers from the Chineese Lenovo Site (for example Realtek Audio Driver)? Will there be problems ? Click HERE for the the Lenovo K330 Chineese Site. (Use Google Translate)Click HERE for the Lenovo K330 United States Site.  This is the Image of the Chineese Lenovo Webiste: Link to image

Hello, I?m new to this forum. Last week I purchased an IdeaCentre K330 7727-4GU. I went to http://consumersupport.lenovo.com and was able to search for any BIOS updates by entering the computers serial number. I found there was a BIOS update ?DKJ915AUS.ISO? with a last modified date of 2011-04-29. I downloaded it and burned to CD and booted from CD and flashed the BIOS. I watched the monitor and it appeared that everything went well and completed OK. But when I re-booted the computer I got two beeps and the following error message: Error 0162 Setup data integrity check failed I tried re-flashing again and got the same error message after rebooting. I would like to download the previous BIOS and re-flash back to that version. But I can?t find a link to download the previous version. Previous BIOS version: DKKT20AUS Last modified date of 2011-3-16 Does anyone have a download link for this previous version: DKKT20AUS Last modified date of 2011-3-16? Or does anyone have any suggestions how I can get back to the previous version? Thank you.

I have a custom built desktop and an asrock 970M Pro3 mobo. I have windows 10 and I noticed that today my computer was being really slow. I would open google chrome and when I would look something up it took at least 1 minute to load anything. I have an program called rainmeter and a few other addons for it that told me my cpu was at 100%. Long story short my cpu was running at 100% constantly even when (besides for windows programs) I only had skype open. I looked online and saw people were having the same problem. They said to update the bios and the original creator of the thread would always say something along the lines of "Thanks it worked my pc is back to normal!" So I downloaded an update for my motherboard bios and then after I started it my screen went black. Ive tried restarting the pc and dont know what to do. Please help!

So I updated my BIOS. I have an HP 150t and the motherboard died so I bought another one online and it was working fine but I decided to update the BIOS going into HPs website which mightve been a mistake. Now onto the problem: When I update everything was fine except it took about 20 seconds for the monitor to light up and after it did it took a really long time from the POST screen to boot into Windows. But after it did it worked like a charm. Now it still does the same except that it wont boot into Windows anymore and Startup repair has not been able to fix it. Thanks a lot for the help

Hi to all!I just baught Z50-75 with AMD FX7500, 8GB Ram and FreeDOS. I installed Windows 8.1 Pro, and they pulled some drivers during the installation, and I went to Lenovo sight and downloaded all the rest (graphics, camera, etc.), after each installation the computer restarted normally and all was O.K. The last drivers that I saw on the site were BIOS drivers, and I downloaded those to and it started the installation after which it said:"The system will now restart for changes to make effect", and it did, but, it would not boot up after that, all it did was show me this on the screen:   And I tried both of the options (the second one with the Windows CD inside), but it just stays where it is, no effect.I can enter the bios and change the settings, but none of them seem to work because this is the maximum where it will go, the only difference is when I change from AHCI to Compatible mode, it restarts and than I have a blank screen, I have to use the One button Recovery to get back to this one from the picture above...I would appriciate any kond of help, please give me some advice.

I downloaded the Bios via Lenovo's site on my Yoga.  The Yoga was plugged in and the utility ran as expected.  After it restarted, it never came back.  The Function key was lit green and the keyboard would light up but the screen is black and it won't boot.  How can I troubleshoot? I already turned it off (after letting it sit there for a long time) and I get the same result.   I also tried unplugging it and hitting the reset button.  Still the same, its like it went into hibernation.  The power button is still on.

Ok so i decided i would update my BIOS as i saw there was a new BIOS available at the dell website

I have a Inspiron 1100 2.2Cel, 512 Ram, 30GIG
I had a A29 BIOS and was updating to A30, So i downloaded and started the BIOS update it starts installing and has to restart as it restarts all is fine till it gets to the windows splash screen and it comes up with a certain boot file is missing in system32 ( I didn't get chance to see the specifics as i wasn't expecting a problem) and then straight away it restarts so the BIOS didnt finish installing and from then on it simply just keeps restarting at the splash screen

So i thought i would try Safe mode but the same problem, I then try putting my XP cd in and repairing the windows but still no luck so then i went and instaled a second XP which is now working fine, which relieved a bit as the Computer parse is working just not the original Windows

I now have access to the other windows install to be able to put the missing files in, But my main concern is getting "My Documents" as i have a lot of college stuff which isn't backed up on my USB drive, And when i go to get access it comes up with access denied because it's private

I have tried This
still didnt help

Tried copying some system32 files from the fresh install to the old see if the file might missing might have been added but still no luck

I did a virus scan and the scanner was able to scan the files in the "My Docume... Read more

Answer:x200 tablet BIOS wont update

This is yet another example of why Lenovo has failed as a company to support its customer and why, after owning 5 of these systems and recommending them to companies and friends, I'm done. I also found this same error on the X200T. It is as if nobody tests these patch releases any longer. I also have a problem with the wireless LAN driver going out to lunch. All of a sudden the Lenovo wireless app shows a red X through the connection icon (lower right) and shows the radio as powered-off. I am unable to power it on. The only solution is to reboot. This is what I paid nearly $2K for on this particular machine.

Hi there. I have a Lenovo Z575 and I installed the BIOS update on the Lenovo drivers page and now my computer wont boot. I tried to reinstall Windows 7 but it wont boot from USB, so I tried to install XP from a disc and it gets part way through set-up then i get a blue screen telling me Windows has shut down to prevent damage to my computer and the error it gives is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. However, I now have no operating system on my computer so can't use any of the fixes I find online. Oddly enough, it installs Ubuntu 10.04 that I have on a disc. It's only when i try to install Windows I get any errors.I've already tried loading default settings in the BIOS with no luck. Is there another way to reset the BIOS?ThanksSteph

Hello,
I just got a used Optiplex 160 (Model DC01T) with BIOS A06 and have tried everything to get it to update to BIOS A10, A09, A08 or A07.
I downloaded the unified DOS/Windows BIOS and put it on a FreeDOS USB stick.  When I run the package it goes through everything and then reboots but never actually updates the BIOS.  I have tried installing Linux on a USB Flash drive installing the Dell OMSA tools and use dellBiosUpdate pointing to the A09.HDR file.
For whatever reason that also fails because the dell_rbu module does not populate "/sys/class/firmware/dell_rbu/" like it should.  Also no amount of copying "init" to  "/sys/devices/platform/dell_rbu/image_type" helps correct that issue.
The only thing I can think of is that when the system reboots it goes to an "Alert Fan!" message because this unit did not come with the HD & Fan bracket.  I have one on its way but if that Alert/Error is clearing the BIOS update flag then everything should work once the fan arrives and I get that connected.
If that's not the case is there anything else I should try?

Answer:Optiplex 160 BIOS wont update (because the fan is missing?)

I finally got it  figured out if anyone is interested.  The fan error might be causing the normal update to fail but using a bunch of switches you can force the update to install and then reboot.

I have just updated my BIOS from 2.10 to 2.20 to try to overcome an overheating problem with Linux.
On rebooting the laptop XP will not start. I get the XP screen for a few seconds then the blue scrren of death flashes up beofre the laptop reboots. The blue screen is so quick it doesn't finish writing up the text - so I cannot see any numbers to check the error.

If I select Linux Mint from my GRUB screen the laptop starts correctly. I can also see the Windows partitions. I have tried to boot from an XP disc to run CHKDSK but I get to the stage where it says it is inspecting my configuration then hangs on a black / blank screen and just sits there.

Any ideas? Is it possible to roll back the BIOS?

Answer:Xp wont start after BIOS update on Satellite L

Hi,

> Is it possible to roll back the BIOS?

Yes, you can downgrade (rollback) if you have made a backup.

Can you enter the Bios and check if compatible mode enabled (after Bios update, it could put AHCI by default)?

Hi,I recently updated my Inspiron 17R (7720) to the latest bios however as soon as it completed the process the battery stopped working. When I go into the bios there is the following message:"Your battery is temporarily disabled. Please turn off your computer and try again when the unit is back to the operational temperature". The machine has been left off for many hours now and is very cool to the touch however the battery wont engage and the issue persists between multiple battery packs (I have a backup battery too). As far as I can tell it is the bios that has broken my laptop and I am unable to fix it on my own. I have spent many hours trying to fix the issue at this point, following all of the advice that I can find on these forums. I suspect that either the bios has a bug or the laptop has a faulty sensor. Is anyone able to help?

Hello P1, welcome to the community,

clearly something is not right, have you called support to request assistance?  The phone number for support in South Africa is 0800-110-756; they are reachable 09:00 - 18:00  Monday - Friday.

That said, something you could try is to reset the system.  Remove the power cord and removable battery.  On the underside of the system is a reset hole, (Nr. 5 in the below illustration), insert a straightened paper clip and hold the reset button depressed for 3 seconds.  Once you have completed this please attach the power cord and see if the system starts normally.

Please let us know the outcome.

I have just upgraded my laptop to the new BIOS as stated in the title but after doing it my computer now wont boot up at all. I just get a blue screen with it asking me to do a CHKDSK because there might be a virus or that the hard drive isn't connected properly (when it is), and it just keeps rebooting.

It wont start in safe mode either. Anyone else had the same problem and if so, how do I get my laptop back?? :(

Hello

I have bought my wife a Toshiba L300-20D ( PSLB8E-0CK00YEN ). It came with Vista loaded which she cannot get on with.

My grandson offerred to sort it out. He fitted a new hard drive, loaded it with XP and managed to get nearly all the drivers working with the exception of the WiFi .

After spending many hours he decided to update the bios from v1.8 to v1.9. Since then it wont start.. It comes up with the Toshba screen, Start windows normally, it then tries to load windows, flashes and starts the cycle al over.

He has tried the default settings, tried an XP disc, setting it to start on disc, nothing. It does just the same in safe mode.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Did you set the SATA Mode to "Compatibility" when installing XP? (You would see a BSOD with the code 0x0000007B - if Automatic Restart is disabled from the Windows boot menu)

The BIOS update would have reset it back to SATA AHCI Mode. So set it to Compatibility again.

If that doesn't work, try a System Restore in Safe Mode to return the registry back to a previous date.

Why does this happen when I have a deadline... I have a r30 and did the bios thinkpad advange update and it said code f-250 and f270 replace batt. So I replaced batt and it still says it. try to boot via cd and does not see cd or even allow me to go in to set boot priority. Out of frustration was even ready to re load xp and f-disk it but does not see the cd rom... Please anyone... need help as I lose my job if i dont get this up and I'm on someone else's comp. just to post this.... Thank you in advance for what ever in put you can help with. SignedPLEASE HELP [email protected]

Answer:R30 wont boot after bios update.. says need new b/up batt.... Please helppppppppppppp

I've found theres a physical problem with the design of the motherboard (or at least MY R30), it seems that the bios battery holder has  comes up from the motherboard indicating a dry solder joint is the cause. I have resoldered it twice and am now considering putting in a 3032 battery with the built in leads and soldering it directly to the motherboard and bypassing the dodgy battery clip altogether. Also a kludge to make sure it keeps contact is cut up a peice of plastic 1/8 inch/2-3mm thick to the size that fits underneath the keyboard plug and contacts the battery,  and wedge it under there. I've had my bios battery kept in by this method for a month or so now and im not changing it until i can be bothered with stripping my laptop down and replacing the battery connector as indicated above. Good luck, p.s. did you really need to upgrade the bios or was it a "why not?" idea?

my satellite pro c850 cd wont work after bios update from toshiba.

what do i do?

Answer:Satellite Pro C850 wont work after Bios update

Saying: don?t work? you mean it does not power up or what do you mean exactly?
Did you flash the BIOS properly?

Possibly something went wrong during the update and this means that ROM module isn?t flashed properly?

In most cases a special BIOS crisis disk would be needed to get it working?
Not quite sure if you can get it fixed by your own?
Check this thread. Maybe it helps:

Can anyone help me please?

Updated my BIOS as recommended using the windows tool! All went through fine, backed up, verified and flashed new version. After the auto reboot my laptop will not boot past the Toshiba screen, press F12 and nothing, F2 and I just get PLEASE WAIT. Guess I won't be trying Visa or indeed any OS now.

Why oh why did I do it? All was fine before but was advised to do it for full compatibility. Do I need a new board or is there a key I can press to unable me to boot from CD to reflash or return to old BIOS?

Please help!

I had to update my bios & it seems that the wrong one was downloaded about 3% into installing the laptop just died & won't go back on.

There are no lights & there is no noise from the laptop at all.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

The laptop is a Toshiba satelite L300D.

Answer:Toshiba l300D wont load up after bios update fail

It doesn't sound like it is fixable on your end. Flash BIOSes that go bad, leave you with a doorstop. You'll hear the statement, "I bricked my computer". This means you turned your device into a brick also known as a doorstop.

You might want to post at a good BIOS site
http://www.wimsbios.com/forum/

People do send bricked computers off, have the BIOS chip desoldered and a new one soldered on. You might be able to get information on that type of service.

Maybe if you contact Toshiba, they will be able to tell you of some companies that do this.

Hi, let me just start by saying im an idiot....

Dowloaded a few drivers for my toshiba p100 240 and noticed there was a BIOS update, i downloaded it and ran the program only for it to come up with
an error that it will only allow the Administrator to run program. My laptop became slow and would not allow me to turn it off by any means. In the end i took out the
battery and restarted only to find a blank screen, no start up or anything on screen.

I fear i have totally killed my machine and its about 4 months out of warrenty, Im sure there is no cheap miricle cure for this but if anyone can give me my options here I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for your time,

Martin.

Answer:Satellite P100-240 wont boot up after failed BIOS update

Hi mate,

Thats a bit of a problem... If your machine really won?t boot up and no screen comes up, then your BIOS was probably damaged.

I would really recommend you to contact an [authorized service partner|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] and tell them your problem. Maybe they can do something for. I mean, your machines hardware is ok, and it?s just some BIOS related thing.

Hope your machine will work again..

Hi,

I tried to do a BIOS update on my DX1210 last night to version 1.5,
During the update there was a write failed error message and now the system won't boot.
Is there a way to reflash the bios when a bios update fails?
I've got all the bios files extracted on to a USB key but I'm not sure what to do to initate a bios recovery?

Answer:Qosmio DX1210 wont boot - Bios update failed

Well, BIOS problems can be solved only by an Toshiba authorized service partner.
I assume the ROM module where the BIOS is stored, has not been flashed properly.
The Rom module can be flashed again using an special crisis disk.

Therefore I see just one real option for you: get in contact with the service guy to get it fixed.

Hello to the BleepingComputer community,First of all I'm sorry I haven't finished some of the steps from the Preparation Guide. It's because these steps require a reboot (e.g. Step 6: Disable your CD Emulation Software - DeFogger will ask me to reboot the machine), and I have a bad feeling about the question if it is safe to reboot in my situation: I'm not sure if I have a type of malware which is ready to infect the BIOS - if it is so, then it could infect it much easier during the reboot process.- If there is a good way to find out what is the problem (and fix the BIOS threat part if it really is present) without rebooting / shutting down this PC, or at least without booting from this hard drive (which I feel is probably infected), then please tell me what should I do.- If you know a place / forum where I can get a specialized help for this (seemingly BIOS-malware related) situation, please tell me where I could go.- If there is no way to move forward, I'll go ahead and risk the reboot, and follow the other steps (steps 6 to 10) in the Preparation Guide, no problem.I kindly ask you to please read below the details of the problem as it occured to me, and the things I have tried so far.The PC is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core BE-2350 2.1GHz, Motherboard Biostar TA690G AM2 (with AWARD BIOS), 4GB RAM, 200GB SATA HDD, and an ASUS EAH4870 card added a few years ago. It's with WinXP SP3, AVG Free 2012, (standard) Windows Firewall, and it's behind a router.I ... Synopsis: PSU died, replaced PSU with different model, system boots to bios successfully but does not recognize any devices in SATA ports, nor do those devices appear to be getting power. Now can't even get to BIOS, entire PC flicks on and off repeatedly as soon as I turn the PSU on regardless of whether I hit the power button on the front of the computer.

System Specifications

Original PSU that died: SeaSonic M12II 750 SS-750AM 750w PSU
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
GPUs: ASUS 670 non-top version, SLI (2x)
MOBO: ASRock Z77 extreme 6
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) SDRAM DDR3 2133
Optical drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B 24x SATA Internal DVD+/-RW Drive
SSD: SanDisk Extreme 240GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch (OS is installed here)
Storage drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB SATA III (This was not connected when power supply died)

Detailed explanation:About a week ago my PSU (Seasonic 750w) died randomly while the computer was left running in sleep . I RMA'd the dead seasonic. In the mean time I happened to come accross an extremely good deal on a new PSU, so I bought it (Thermaltake smart m850w PSU) to have a backup and to get my machine working again.

I hooked up the new PSU to GPUs, CPU, fans, ATX power connector, and to all of the SATA devices, (the SSD, the HDD, and the Optical drive). I made sure to connect the data cables to the SATA devices in the same configuration they were in when working properly. The computer boots suc... Read more

Answer:PSU died, new PSU, bios wont recognize SATA devices, now wont turn on

I had a similar problem when I had an Antec PSU die on me. After I replaced it, my Biostar mobo's BIOS would no longer retain settings, and both my Pioneer DVD burners were completely dead. Not recognized in the BIOS, they would not acknowledge any discs inserted, nothing worked. I also started getting BSODs pointing to a corrupt BIOS. Replacing the burners didn't help. Putting the Pioneer burners in a new machine didn't work.

It turned out that the dying Antec PSU had wrecked the Biostar's BIOS chip and both Pioneer DVD burners. Replacing the BIOS chip was more expensive than buying a new motherboard, and reflashing the chip wasn't possible because the flash utility told me I already had the latest BIOS version. I ended up trashing the board and buying an ASRock board and Samsung burners.

If you get a new motherboard (or try another known-good working PC), and you connect your present SATA devices and they don't work, then the dying Seasonic may have burnt them out, too.

I just restored my x61 to original settings due to a problem with blue screens, and decided to update the BIOS right afterwards.  I followed the directions precisely and it installed all 21 of the individual components for this model.  I then shut down the computer and turned it back on this morning to continue loading software.  The system started with the fan running at high speed and stopped at the ThinkPad Screen.  However, nothing happened after pressing the ThinkVantage button and F1 or any other button for that matter.  I left it for a couple hours, but finally determined that I could not turn it off or do anything with the machine.  It just hung there.  I did finally remove the battery and replace it, and now there is no power registering when the machine is plugged in and it won't start. Is there something I can do to recover the system?  I suspect the answer is a board replacement.  The BIOS update failed in conjunction with something on my computer.  I am just 2 years into the warranty period in the US, so if I need to replace the board, what are the best options? Thanks for your help and comments....this is a very frustrating turn of events, since it is my work machine.

Anyway, He said that it didn't need a bios update, even the Samsung website said this computer needed a bios update. I posted this on hardware, firmware concerns, and they told me to post here, I was going to go to a site ,that had a download that checked drivers, I was told to stay away from this.

Hi there again!

Now with a new and weird matter.

We all know that old say... "If it is not break, don't fix it". And if you put it into more informatic terms, "specially if it is a BIOS".

Yes, we all know that the BIOS is something quite dellitate to handle. For some reason we normally feel like if we were handling something like nitro-glycerine, or some radioactive product. And this is because we all know what is being put in risk in that moment: our (or sometimes others) computer, the full system could end as dead as some pieces of metal, plastic, and wires.

Well. I passed through all of that more than ten times in my life, and only once it went wrong. But since that old motherboard was already dead, It was not important. But I allways was EXTREMELY care. I allways cross checked everything before doing anything, allways got a backup and a way to restore that backup... and allways did this in COMPAQ systems, that were prepared that way. Updating a BIOS was just about preparing a disk, turn on the PC with the disk in the diskette drive, and wait. And if you didn't like the results, you simply click "return to previus BIOS" and that was it... very nice. And easy.

Few days ago, a friend brought me a Toshiba Satellite 1410-604 to solve some issues that were driving him crazy. After removing an expired Norton Internet Security, install avast and scan, I found more than one hundred files infected with a wide variety of virus, malware, t... Read more

Answer:Satellite 1410-604 - BIOS update > Incorrect BIOS update in the web?

Hi Fenix,

wow... it tooked very long time to read your post....

Maybe I can help you.

The Bios in the Web is the right one. So you have downloaded the correct version of the Bios.

The Askiris you have used is from Toshiba America which has most times not the exact models as Toshiba Europe.
That should be the reason, why the readme does not contain the European modelname.

I would try to make a fresh Bios update using the traditional Bios update.

Copy the files to the diskette, put it into the FDD, press and hold the Tab key while power on the notebook.
After the notebook has shut down, press and hold the key on the left side of the space-bar while power on the notebook again and wait until it powers off again.

If your notebook does not power on anymore, maybe the RAM is defect?

So, if the use of the traditional Bios and/or changing the memory does not help and your notebook is still dead you should go to an ASP, but this will cost money.

I have my fourth Toshiba notebook now and I had never problems with the Bios updates.

The 1410 is very old I think, so before going to an ASP, I would buy a new one ;)

best regards,

Maurice

here is the deal. installed a new harddrive on a friends computer. installed the OS onthe new HDD and it wouldnt boot. wellllll i went and put back in the old HDD and now it wont boot that one either but what is worse is that the bios wont load either. i reset the bios by taking out the CMOS battery. even switching the jumpers. it reset my bios but it just wont load my bios menu. when i turn the pc on it tells me i need to set time and date in the bios ..no big deal since i just reset it. however, when i hit delete to load the bio..it claims its "loading setup" but it never does. i let it sit for hours and it never loads the bios. its like its frozen. anyone have any suggestions on what i can do? i would be happy if i can just get the old configuration working so he can have a computer

Answer:PC wont boot AND wont load any bios..

What jumpers did you mess with. Was it a bios reset jumper? What is the system specs? It sounds like the Bios is toast.Try to go to the web site of the motherboard manfg, and get a bios and make a BIOS image on floppy and reflash the BIOS. There should be instructions on how to do this.

Last night I updated windows 8.1 from windows 8.
It got to the stage where it needs to restart so it done that started the configarations and once it reached 100% it restarted.

Since then what happens is when i press power on the samsung logo comes on the screen then the black screen with the windows picture then the bsod comes up for around half a second and it restarts. then it constantly does this.

The whole cycle only takes a few seconds.

Ive tried booting in safe mode but this isnt working so I downloaded kav rescue on another computer and saved it on a flash drive, But it wont boot off this either.

Any ideas?

Answer:Windows wont start after 8.1 update wont boot in safe mode

What does the BSOD state? Most times it is a driver issue with the Display drivers. Other times it is hardware.

I know I have seen this before, but when I search there is no answers that match. I have a laptop, running XP, using wireless with windows onecare for antivirus. Recently, I my antivirus was not updated, and I noticed it would not go to the onecare support website at all, it just times out. I have been in the live chat of this site, and have installed AVG, SuperAntiSpyware, and run CCleaner. The computer has been restarted (multiple times) and none of this has helped. Another site affected is Kohls.com, which I rarely if ever visit, but I have been trying to go all week and it just times out there. The peeps on the live chat said to post in here cause they are stumped. I also went and checked my host file, and the original sample is still there. (registery is still directing to the right host also)

Answer:Websites not opening--onecare wont update becuase it wont go

Recently my dvd/cd writer stopped recognising blank media and now does not even recognise anything. I cannot system restore as my restore points get deleted after each month and we have only just entered August so I have few restore points. I downloaded the driver update for my drive from click here and used the program to download the updates for my drive 'DVDRW-IDE1008', then when i clicked on upgrade to install the updates it says "Execute command errorA!! 5/20/ 0Flashing is incorrect!!" I have no idea what this means and as this is my only hope for getting my drive to work again i would appreciate any help, or suggestions on how else to fix the drive. Thanks a lot.

Answer:DVD/CD drive wont read disks, & driver wont update

"and as this is my only hope for getting my drive to work again"i can't imagine why you think that, as it was working OK previously. What you are trying to do is NOT a driver - CDs and DVD drives do not require drivers, other than the ones built-in to Windows. What you are trying to do is update the firmware inside the drive - clearl this is not faulty, or the drive would never have worked. If your drive will not recognise anything - I suggest as a first step, borrow a drive from elsewhere and try it out - it seems quite possible your drive has simply failed. Before you do that, just check inside that the cable that feeds it is still firmly plugged in at each end - both the drive and the motherboard - also the power cable.

Was not simple trying to clarify my problem in a small title. My online classes begin in 5 days, I am desperate here! Here we go. 2 days ago I tried to import pics from my phone to laptop. I have had this laptop only for 3-4 months, and just mainly used it for school. Before halfway through the importing of pics process it rejects my phone, and will no longer recognize it (Samsung Galaxy S5 active btw). I did so much research, and tried so many usb settings tweeks, but nothing. It hates my phone for some reason.

Then at a point during all that, I reset my laptop and it just gets stuck with black screen and circle bubbles. Doing all the things you can think of on google, so many searches. It goes from that to getting stuck on welcome screen, then doing more work and searching, I get it to go to my desktop, but its only a black screen with mouse cursor. Before this point I couldn't even get it to boot through safe mode, it would get stuck. I can get safe mode now, but wont let me access any setting or options, no control panel. Not even start menu! I could only get into task and device managers. At that point I saw "!"s on my display adapters, video card, network card, and a couple of other visual type devices. Tried to uninstall, reinstall drivers, nothing. I've done so many things to resolve this, but ask if I've done it anyway, please. Before I left for work earlier, I just gave up. I started the reformat process from the reset pc setting. After it finished I p... Read more

Hi,
I have been having this problem for quite some time now. I cant download any updates and it says that i'm using a proxy or behind a firewall.

The error code is 8024402C

I have gone through all the steps mentioned in the Microsoft site and also in numerous other sites to identify the cause of the problem and nothing seems to work.

Also my Limewire, Bit comet and other p2p s/w's have stopped connecting for some reason. I'm not sure if all these problems are related to each other.

Can anyone tell me what to do?

Has anyone else had reliability problem with the K330? I bought end of January and noticed that the system freezes randomly; not with virus scanns or back-ups, randomly for several minutes at a time.  I finallly had support replace the hard drive in Apri.  Problem continues.  It happens in using applications, downloading, emailing, random.  Occasionally I get an error resulting in a blue screen and a fast shut-down.  Now support is going to replace the motherboard.  Hope this works. My concern is the K330.  Do I just have a bad product or is this symptomatic of the model?

Answer:Reliability of K330

hey JRJ,

hard to say what's going on here, but do update us after Support has replaced your motherboard.

Question: K330 RAID 0

Got the second drive installed and formatted. Now what do I do to configure both as RAID 0?

Answer:K330 RAID 0

in the BIOS, set the ATA drive to RAID mode, then the next boot it will give you a quick option to press CTRL+(another key) to set up RAID, I dont know if it will do it with the kit drive and another drive, I put two new 1GB drives in and it worked flawlessly. after the setup you have to go back into BIOS and set the ATA back to ATAPI. Then in windows under compmgmt.mst (from run) set the new disk up with a partition windows will then let you assign the drive letter. hope this helps.

I have a K330 purchased in 2011 with Windows 7.  I upgraded to Windows 10.  Everything worked great for about 4 months.  Then around the end of January 2016, after a shut down and restart, things are not the same.  The left mouse button does nothing when over the "Windows/Start" icon, making it almost impossible to excute the programs on the computer; File Explorer is always "working on it...." and never really ends; and the computer and monitor don't always go to sleep when they should. I love this computer and don't want to have to move to a new one.  Is there ANYTHING I can do to upgrade the components to love and work with Windows 10?  HELP and thanks.

Answer:K330 and Windows 10

Hi there. According to Lenovo's supported system for Windows 10 upgrade list, I don't see your computer listed here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103535 However, since you mentioned you had it for 4 months, please try performing a system restore and see if that brings your computer back. : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/restore-system-files-and-settings

Could someone please confirm that all K330s are upgradeable to 16 GB of RAM? I'm confused because the specs in the shopping area say the max RAM is 8GB for all three versions (77273HU, 77273GU, 77273FU), even for the version that comes with 12 GB installed! And every press release I have seen says the K330 accepts 16 GB of RAM.

Answer:K330 - is max RAM 16 GB for all models?

hey dean12,from the product sheet ( http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/icbook.pdf ) does support up to 16gb RAM for all models.

Hello: I am trying to add the second HD (3 Tb) SATA.  The system does not see all the capacity. It is the second HD I've tried.  I suspect that the BIOS does not support it.  By the way, the BIOS updates had not been awailable for long time.  I've tried to use Linux based software to partition the HD, but Windows 7-64 does not see it or even boot.  Thank you, dgaid

Can someone with some knowledge point me in the direction of replacement RAM for my IdeaCentre K330B (77472AU)? I would appreciate any assistance. I have 6GB installed and everything I've read says the capacity is 8GB. Thank you!

Answer:Ideacentre K330 RAM

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

The Lenovo documentation is rather sketchy on what the maximum memory is for your model.  In checking with the on-line memory retailers Crucial and Kingston they both confirm that the maximum memory is 8 GB.  Here are their links for your reference.....

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Lenovo/ideacentre-k330b

http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search?DeviceType=2&Mfr=LEN&Line=IdeaCentre&Model=73339

You can't go wrong with either seller as both guarantee compatibilty.

Well, I pretty much broke the OEM partition, what happened was, I tried to recover to oobe basically (forgot what its called) but it wouldn't let me, so I went into windows, and decided to mess with the partition (unlocked it via disk part) and couldn't find a way to fix it, but saw all these .exe's and decided to open them all (big mistake) then I did some research and found the reason why it first wouldn't work, I had messed with the partition before, and didn't set the ID to the recovery ID, but set it to OEM (12) which in turn made the one key recovery break, so I set the ID right, and restarted, and to my surprise (not really now that I think about it) the one key recovery (F2) wouldn't work...Is there any way to fix this now? I think all I did was overwrite what F2 reads when you press it during startup... I can't find my disks (they're in a pile of boxes 8 feet high, 10 feet across, and 10 feet wide..

Answer:Broke the OEM in K330

Hello All,
3 days ago I applied the latest bios update to my 1-year old XPS15, running latest and fully patched 64 bit Windows 10 public release.
Since then
A) plugin a rather simple USB-3 hub into the system prevents the laptop from Booting into BIOS, or if manages to do that
B) plugin said USB-3 hub after full windows boot, freezes both USB ports devices.  The unfreeze can be overcame by unplugging the hub and then other device and then re-pluging both
C) after step B, windows explorer becomes very unstable and does not even show all the folder contents to some programs "open file" function.
D) the system does not recover anymore from plain S3 sleep, triggering a windows hard reboot.
I'm afraid the bios option to roll-back the bios version was not active, so I'm stuck.
Finally, the latest Intel diver published at the same time does not install cleanly after the bios update (although I managed to get it to show in the "program files" section.
I always apply the latest updates for drivers and bios promptly as main security policy and so far the system has behaved very well (Maybe with the exception of Hibernation from sleep time out, which always has been a bit faulty)

Whilst updating the BIOS the system froze at step 7 of replacing the BIOS code, needless to say the laptop will not boot as the BIOS is now corrupt.

I have the BIOS.BAK but need advice on how to restore the BIOS. I copied the BIOS.BAK to a usb stick and plugged this into the laptop and then powered on the system (I've tried holding down F, F2 and together). I can see that the usb stick flickers initially but clearly does not progress with the restore.

I hope someone might be able to advise how to use the BIOS.BAK file to restore the BIOS.

Unfortunately I cannot help you with this but check please this interesting thread - http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=54395

Hello, Problem 1:I've set the supervisor password some time ago on my T450s. I think I used the special character "!" which was accepted at that time, but I'm not sure anymore today. Now after severeal BIOS updates the "!" only leads to a beep of the system and I also tried all of my standard-passwords without "!" , but without success. Problem 2:Now I've tried to roll back to older BIOS versions to try if one of these accepts the "!". But every version I tried leads to a "secure flash authentication failed"-error after the reboot of the laptop to actually flash the BIOS. The following link says its the Rollback Prevention Enabled, but I checked in BIOS and it's clearly disabled.https://support.lenovo.com/sg/de/solutions/ht117858 Now I have no idea how to proceed. Has anyone seen that the BIOS has accepted special characters like "!"?Are there other T450s which are not able to rollback to older BIOS versions with the above mentioned error? Technical Infos:- Model: ThinkPad T450s 20BW-S03E00 (the one with Intel graphics only and a core i5-5200)- BIOS: 1.29(JBET65WW) Thanks in advance!  Best regards,Linus123
