I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'd be very grateful if someone could suggest a solution to the problem I have with the touchpad on my laptop, the one finger scrolling is not working, I have checked as far as I can using the info provided, as far as I know the driver is up to date, I've looked for 'Dell touchpad' or 'Device settings tab' in control panel and they aren't there, just mouse ( ps/2) properties and these are shown as ok, any ideas please? many thanks,Steven. ps, guruaid tell me it's a hardware problem but I'm not so sure, it used to work fine before Windows 10 was loaded and messed up a whole lot of functions, I was then told it's not compatible with this laptop, so I had to put Windows 7 back on and the problem stemmed from around that time

Answer:n5010 laptop touchpad not working correctly - no 'one finger' scrolling function

Hi PUFFIN88,
Have you performed a clean install of Windows 7 or have just rolled back the OS from Win10 to Win7? Is the touchpad detected in device manager? Is there any damage on the system? Do the touchpad button register a click?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/28WKQHB- restart the system and check if it works fine.  Reinstall the touchpad drivers from the same site and check.
If the touchpad is not detected in device manager- then download the service manual from the support site link above - and reseat the palmrest cables and check if it works.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Is anyone else expeiencing problems with their touchpad?I am finding the dual finger scrolling functionality on the touchpad problematic.it seems to work only intermittently, basically gets stuck or doesn't work at all sometimes.sometimes when it doesnt work, if I use the scrolling function with the with the track pointand then return to using it with dual fingure on the touchpad, it sudenly works again.I ask because I had an incredibly frustrating call with tech support today and they say there is nothing they can do,even though i purchaced the extra 4 year on site warrantee, they refuse to send an engeneer out as when doing remotetesting, everything appears to be fine on their end, even though for me its not fine. The say they can only send out an engeneer if they can see a pysical fault on their end.so I'm wondering if its a fault with the W520 or the thinkpad trackpad technology in general?Ive updated the drivers, and set sensitivity to most sensitive and fiddled around loads, with no success.ive even re-imaged the machine (yes)its very amoying concidering the price of these machines.thanksadam

I restarted my computer to do a Windows update, and suddenly two-finger scrolling and pinch to zoom aren't working. I've already been to Windows mobility center and into the touchpad settings, where it says both are turned on.
Any ideas how to fix it?

Answer:Inspiron 15R 5520 touchpad two-finger gestures not working

Since this was asked almost 3 years ago and I see no answer I have to assume this is not a function I can expect on the Inspiron 5520.  I suppose it is too old to expect a driver change to enable that functionality.

Just got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version.
Touchpads have been around a long time. It's the last thing I expect not to work properly.
At this point I am ready to send the laptop back and call it quits on windows.
Can anybody help with this?

Hi,
SO, You're having problems with 8.1 and the Synaptics Dell Touchpad!? I wish I could say I've never seen this before. I won't open up with "Have you tried this?" Instead, I'm confident this will "fix what ails ya"  There have been a wealth of problems with touchpads (Alps included) and not just on Dell systems, during the transition from windows 8 to 8.1 (I still can't figure out why they didn't just call it SP1) IN ANY EVENT> give this a go and please get back to me after you've done it so I can share with others who are experiencing the same problem. I'll explain WHY these steps at the end...Go ahead peek ...I won't tell anyone!
Locate the current driver for your touchpad from  Dell Support by entering your service tag number here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriversHome/ShowProductSelector?fkey=Drivers_PS
SAVE the download to somewhere convenient like your desktop (you can put it somewhere else later)
1) From the control panel under Programs / Uninstall a Program locate the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and completely uninstall the software.  but DO NOT RESTART if prompted. Instead select the restart later option.
2) From the control panel under Hardware and Sound locate the Device Manager in the Devices and Printers category and click on it (device manager may require admin permission.)

I like to scroll in the direction the text is hidden. For example, if I want to scroll DOWN, I swipe DOWN on the touchpad. This works fine in webpages, open windows, documents, etc. However, in the Start Menu or any other Settings menu in Windows 10, the scrolling is reversed. If I swipe DOWN, the screen goes in the opposite way of what I expect. This is only happening in the Windows Menu and Setting Menus.  I had synaptics driver have the inverted scrolling off.  How do I make it so that the scrolling direction is uniform EVERYWHERE?

Hello,

I recently bought a Lenovo Y700 running W10. I am trying to get it set up the way I like and cannot find an option to use one-finger scrolling with my touchpad (two-finger scrolling is an option and works just fine).

I am updated to driver 19.0.19.1, but for some reason when I go to Mouse Properties it lists the driver version as 19.0.17.26. I'm not sure if this is related. Here are some screen caps of the driver discrepancy as well as the UI for the mouse, which has no option for one-finger scrolling. How do I enable this?

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

I have a ThinkPad Yoga S1 with a clean and up-to-date installation of Windows 10 Pro. Synaptics driver version 19.0.17.27 is installed.Two-finger touchpad scrolling rarely works in several UWP/Metro apps such as Calendar and Groove Music. When I attempt to scroll, a little crosshair appears on the screen and moves up and down instead of moving the page. Every once in a while it actually does scroll, but only at random and immediatey stops working again.Strangely enough, if the UWP window is in the background behind another window and isn't currently in focus, two-finger scrolling works fine. Non-UWP/Metro applications do not seem to be affected by this problem.Any help would be greatly appreciated.-gyokuroEDIT: I found a temporary workaround right after I posted this that doesn't fix the issue, but at least makes it less of an annoyance until this is fixed. If you click on the taskbar and then try to scroll in a UWP app, it works fine, and the tiny crosshair doesn't appear either.

I'm thinking that's on purpose. If you did that, how would you then move the cursor on screen? Single finger is cursor movement, two finger is scroll. It's a touch pad not a touch screen.

Problem in short:  My laptop display is not working; however an external monitor is working via HDMI.  Interestingly, the touch screen capabilities still work despite there being nothing displayed. (The touch motions register on the external monitor because i have it set to 'clone display'.)

Long version:  This past weekend, after a Windows update, upon the next boot, my display was no longer working.  I get nothing; no boot screen info, windows login screen, nothing.  I can use an external monitor, which I am doing right now, via the HDMI connection, so I am certain that my video card hardware is functioning.  I just performed a full Dell diagnostics and everything passed.  I have tried the following:
-  Update to latest BIOS (A05)
-Update to latest Intel video drivers (receive error trying to install)
-Tried rolling back video drivers, but was unsuccessful due to (what I think) is inability to enter Safe Mode
-Perform a system restore to a save point prior to the last Windows Update (unsuccessful again, due to the fact that upon System Restore initiated restart, I cannot select options due to having no usable display).
At this point, I think my my display might have simply gone bad and I must get a replacement.  I am under warranty still and plan to contact Dell directly to address the issue.  In the mean time, are there any suggestions on other potential solutions?
Thanks in advance for any help or comments.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 14 7437 display stopped working

Have you had this resolved?  Interesting that no one has responded or questioned this.  I am having a similar issue with two out of three of my 14 7000's.  Both have dead video's.
Now I find out Dell has stopped selling or even offering the 14 7000.  Here today, gone tomorrow without a peep.  Has me wondering if this is a bigger problem than I first thought.
Any help on your end would be appreciated.

Is there any way to invert the two-finger scrolling on the touchpad?  The default behaviour is for a gesture downwards to scroll the screen up, and a gesture upwards to scroll the screen down - probably taken from OSX and easily the worst and most frustrating "feature" of my new laptop at work.  There is no option to reverse this in the touchpad settings.

Recently I created a new user account (not under Family Group) after the Windows 10 update. In this new account, the touchpad no longer gets to the top or bottom of webpage with two finger flick, unlike my old account. The scrolling distance is small and only gets me up a quarter or half a page. The only way I can circumvent this is to have maximum inertia - even with this setting, it usually gets me across 80% of a long webpage but not to the top/bottom of the page.I have the same issue in Microsoft Word (haven't tried other programs besides PDF - which has a pathetic scrolling distance in both accounts). Also in this new user account, the three-finger flick serves a similar function as alt + tab, whereas in the older account, the three-finger flick works as a backward/forward function in Google Chrome, which I much prefer. I have searched mouse properties and compared the settings with my older user account (created before Windows 10) and the settings are identical!! I can't seem to find what the issue is. Any help appreciated!!

Hi everyone, Just received my brand new Yoga X1 2nd gen and everything's fine. The only thing that drives me crazy is the scrolling direction when using the two finger scrolling on the touch pad. I want to reverse it as I'm used to it on all other computers I've ever used before. How do I do this? There're some articles, also in this forum, pointing to advanced settings of the Synaptics tab included in the mouse settings. But there is almost nothing to change, especially nothing relating to changing the direction. There must be a registry setting. Please help, so I can enjoy my new Yoga X1 :-) Cheers Georg

So i just recivece my new u430, and overall i'm pretty happy. I have a few issues with the touchpad though. There's no way of deactivating the fact that it keeps scrolling when my fingers reach the bottom or top of the touchpad. This is annoying, as i can't see when it will start scrolling automatically, it just suddenly starts. Another thing is that when i start scrolling with two fingers, and then lift a finger to navigate the mouse instead, it keeps scrolling until i lift both fingers off the trackpad, and then i can start to navigate. This feels very unneccessary, and it didn't do this on my old Asus computer.  Is there a general workaround for the sloppy driver, or do i have to live with these "features"? Best regards,Andreas

Alright. So since I've bought this computer I've had problems with the two-finger scrolling suddenly stopping, like many people have. That's always been fixable by going into properties, device settings, settings, unchecking/rechecking one of the boxes under "two finger scrolling" and hitting OK. Now, though, my touchpad is suddenly stuck on one finger scrolling, and it's super annoying. There is no "one finger scrolling" option under the "scrolling" drop down thingy under device settings, so I haven't a clue why this is happening. I've tried the usual fix above, restarting the computer, installing new drivers, but it still does one finger scrolling. Which means it scrolls a lot of the time when I don't want it to, and the pointer seems to get "stuck" at times when I'm just trying to move it around. This is extremely frustrating - any help would be great!

Hello, as the title states, I am having issues with my two finger scrolling with my touchpad. My computer is a new alienware 15, and I am currently running windows 8.1. I do have two finger scrolling enabled, and it works, it just acts weirdly and I would like help understanding what is going on.
This first and primary issue, is that while scrolling up or down a page, I will randomly jump way down the page or way up the page. I am not able to reproduce this issue consistently, so I haven't been able to properly measure it, it just occurs randomly while browsing. I believe it always jumps down while scrolling down and vise versa, but I'm not sure. And I believe the distance of the jump is about equal to page up or page down, but that might just be wishful thinking. I have no idea what is causing this, I have completely disabled tapping, so it shouldn't be zone tapping for page up and page down, but I don't know what else it could be.
The next thing isn't really an issue, but more something I'd like to understand the significance of. When I start the two finger scrolling gesture, a little box appears (seemingly in a random location) and shrinks away almost instantly. It seems to have nothing to do with where my mouse is, nor where my fingers are on the trackpad, so I really don't understand what it's communicating to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Issues with two finger scrolling on the alienware 15 synaptic touchpad running windows 8.1

I had the exact same problem, very annoying, I have Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, but the touchpad is Synaptics as well. So after a lot of searching on this issue, there was one possible solution: Remove the manufacturer driver, and install drivers from synaptics website. www.synaptics.com/.../drivers.php
If you cannot install the driver from synaptics website, (mine failed the first try), then you have to follow these steps:
1. After uninstalling the manufacturer synaptics driver, go to the lower right side of the screen, and click settings -- > power --> hold Shift key and press Restart.
2. A blue screen will appear with options. Choose Troubleshoot --> Advanced Options --> Startup Settings --> Click Restart.
3. After that, your computer restarts, shows u a numbered menu, choose number 7, which will turn off driver signatures.
4. When you are back in windows, download and install the driver from the synaptics website and install.

Hope it works, it worked for me.

The previous driver allowed for edge scrolling but latest version does not have the capability.I understand for those upgrading to Windows 8 with touch screen capability this is not an issue but what about us who do not have touch screen. In my opinion this is a major flaw. Please let me hear form you if you too are unhappy about the new Windows 8 Touch pad driver. By the way, I tried rolling the driver back but the previous driver causes serious erratic behavior. Below is a screen shot of the version for the newest Windows 8 Touch Pad driver.

Try this:
1) Go into c:\program files\DellTPad\
2) In this dir I have
  a)  DellTouchpad.exe: this is the app called from control panel whose picture you posted.
  b)  DellTPad.exe alternate utility to set touchpad setting. When launching this I have this option (translating into english) "one finger actions/multi-finger actions", and then it allows you to set single finger vertical/horizontal scrolling.

This morning, I decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?

The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Answer:How to change from two-finger scrolling back to one-finger scrolling?

I was looking at a Logitech touchpad, and it appears their drivers are what controls the response/numbers of fingers/digits.

I got this laptop in August, and I didn't have any problems with the laptop. However about a month ago, the 2 finger scrolling on the trackpad has stopped working. I've made sure that 2 finger scrolling is selected in the mouse settings, but no matter what I do, 2 finger scrolling doesn't work. I've updated my mouse drivers and everything to the latest versions as well, but that didn't fix the problem either. Any clues as to why this might be happening?  Thanks, Mitch

Since yesterday, the two finger scrolling fonction stops working after a couple of minutes after rebooting. I tried uninstalling the and reinstalling the synaptic driver without much succes. I made sure to instal the latest driver version available. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence but this problem arised at the same moment I installed microsoft office 2010. I have a t430s working with windows 7 (64 bit). If anyone has a solution to this problem let me know! Thank you

Two-finger scrolling has suddenly stopped working on my Yoga 710. A reboot hasn't worked. Two-finger zoom still works, but when I try to scroll it malfunctions. Pulling two fingers down on the touchpad minimises the window. Pushing two fingers up takes me to miniature view of all my open windows. Very occasionally it will scroll slightly in one direction but not the other, but I can't get it to happen often enough to work out why it works occasionally. What is going wrong? EDIT: It now seems that the zoom is a bit finicky too. It works much of the time when I try to enlarge or shrink Facebook in my browser, but not all the time.

I have a G510 running Windows 8.1 and have the ELAN Smart-Pad software.  It took me a while to get used to the new gestures on Windows 8, but was finally enjoying scrolling down webpages by using 2 fingers and swiping to the right (down) and left (up).  I was using the laptop and closed my programs an d closed the lid to have some lunch.  When I came back, I could no longer scroll down on a webpage by 2 finger swiping to the left or right.  In order to scroll up or down now, I have to use the 2 fingers and swipe up and down.  Before this incident, I was able to use either way, 2 finger swipe to the right, left, up, and down.   I have tried restarting my computer, rolling back the driver, re-installing the new driver.  I also opened up the mouse settings in ELAN and reset everything back to default.  I've double and triple checked that both "Vertical" and "Horizontal" scrolling is checked and enabled.  I've restarted my computer a total of about 10 times now trying everything I can think of.  Nothing works.  I haven't downloaded any updates lately at all and this just happened out of nowhere.  I've googled and searched these threads and have found nothing that describes my problem exactly, although there are some similar issues.  Can someone help?  Thanks in advance.

Answer:2 Finger Swiping for Scrolling Not Working All of the Sudden

hi AJL127,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to check, is the Touchpad Edge Swipes enabled under PC Settings? If this setting is disabled, can you follow method one of the guide below and observe

Also, if you're using other browsers, you may wanna try the Vertical/Horizontal scrolling feature first on Internet Explorer and observe.

Two-Finger Scrolling in Windows 8 doesn't seem to work properly on my U300S Synaptics trackpad.Instead of just scrolling through the tiles or app on the Windows 8(.1) startscreen, individual apps are higlighted and scrolled through like when I use the arrow-keys on a regular keyboard. Also, in the metro version of Internet Explorer you should be able to move back and forth in the browser history by horizontally doing a two-finger-scroll gesture. Do I have to install anything besides the Synpatics driver to get this to work properly?

Hi! I have a problem with my newly bought Acer Aspire laptop. It is an Aspire A315-51-35LM with an original Linux Endless OS. When I switched to Windows 10, it worked okay. But my problem is that the "double-finger scrolling" is not working. I already installed the two touchpacd drivers. I think it was Symantic and Elantech, I forgot the name. Anyway, I wish somehere here could help me. Thanks!

Hi,Touchpad should be either Elantech or Symantec, before installing the drivers, you need to check whether you have to check whether you have Precision touchpad in Device manager. In windows 10, go to Settings, Devices and click Touchpad and try enabling finger gestures.

It just kind of freaks out on me, in Chrome instead of scrolling, the pointer disappears and it just zooms in and out, almost as if its being recognized as touchscreen input. It did this on Win 8.1 as well when the screen resolution was set at 1080p instead of 1800p. However when it was at full res i had no problem. Anyone else come across this issue?

Answer:Two finger scrolling not working on Yoga 2 Pro after windows 10 upgrade.

I am having similar problems, although I don't have the zoom issue- it is simply not scrolling.   very frustrating when you are accustomed to this method.   My resolution was also reset, but I don't find that as much of an issue- the scrolling I can't fix.

Has anyone used an Inspiron 13 7000 touchpad two-finger scroll gesture and also compared it to a Surface Pro 3?
I've been using the Inspiron 13 for months but just reformatted Windows on a Surface Pro 3 last night and wow - the 2-finger scroll responsiveness is virtually instant on that device.  On the Inspiron it always seems to take a bit of time to get going.

Hi,
I have the brand new Dell XPS 13 9350 with Windows 10. When I use the touchpad with two fingers to scroll down on websites the content "jumps" back up some lines. This happens when lifting the fingers from the touchpad.
It occurs in Chrome and Edge and is pretty annoying because I'm losing focus on the page I'm reading everytime I use two finger scrolling.
Any idea how this can be fixed? I found no driver for touchpad on Dells support page for the XPS 13 and I'm not sure if I should use Synaptic drivers ...
Thanks in advanceFrank

I can also confirm problems with my brand new XPS13 which i received today. For me the touchpad is, let's say, unresponsive.
If i start scrolling up or down with two fingers it needs 1-2 seconds of scrolling before it starts scrolling on the screen. This is VERY annoying!
I mean the scrolling on my 7 year old Sony Vaio was better than this....
How to fix it?! The problem appears in every program

Answer:Why isn't the two finger scrolling gesture no longer working after upgrading to Windows 10 (Lenovo G50)?

Same thing happened to my two-year old Samsung laptop, but fortunately I have downloaded the touchpad driver before so re-installation was easy.
Have you tried checking for driver updates in Device Manager? This method should automatically search for, download and install the driver for your touchpad. Take note, however, that you may need to uninstall the current driver first before it would be able to detect a new one, so make sure you have your mouse ready.
If that doesn't work, try checking the manual or documentation of your laptop - there must be some information about what kind of touchpad is in your Lenovo. Once you find information about your touchpad, it would be easier to search for the appropriate driver manually.

Dear Support,
I have a Dell VOSTRO 3560 laptop that has an Elan Tech SmartPad touchpad. I like its responsiveness very much.
Unfortunately, I recently spilled a bit of coffee and some of that went under the touch pad left and right buttons. The buttons stopped functioning but the touch pad itself is still very good.
Even before the spill I rarely used the buttons. I always used the touch pad to tap to click and two finger tap to right-click.Strangely though, after the spill when the hardware buttons stopped working, the tapping on the touch pad also stopped working. I made sure that the touch pad still can do tap clicking by uninstalling the Dell TouchPad driver and reverting to the Microsoft Mouse PS2 driver. In that case I can use the tap to click feature but only for 1 finger tap. I do not get any other feature as the driver is the simple generic MS one.
My question is would it be possible to still use the Elan tech provided (Dell TouchPad) driver and somehow configure it to accept the tap to click and two finger tap to right-click? This in addition to all the remaining scrolling and gesture support that the driver implements? I tried all the Dell Touchpad settings applet but nothing changed. Perhaps a registry value setting in the section for the elantech?
What seems to be happening now is that the driver is doing some hardware diagnostics, determining that the hardware buttons left and right are not working, and consequently completely disabling left and right click comm... Read more

I just bought a Yoga 3 14" and I have an issue with the touchpad: when I use the two finger scrolling function, it doesn't stop scrolling unless I lift both fingers off the touchpad. All other notebooks I have used before stopped scrolling when I lifted just one finger, alowing me to resume controlling the pointer with just one finger. This is very annoying, and I would like to know how to change this behaviour.

I just upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to windows 10 and my touchpad was acting crazy--for example, I could only get a window to scroll when it was out of focus.  I tried reinstalling my touchpad drivers, and it took about 5 attempts to get it working at a basic functionality.  However, this process caused an egregious change to basic scrolling behavior.  When I used to scroll with two fingers, I could stop scrolling by lifting one finger, and my mouse would return to being a cursor.  Now, when I lift one finger, it continues to scroll, and it will only stop scrolling once I lift the second finger.  So if I'm moving my cursor around, and I drop a finger down for just a brief moment, I won't stop scrolling until I completely remove my hand from the touchpad. I tried reinstalling the driver, I tried installing the Lenovo Windows 10 touchpad driver, (64-bit)

Hi, I recently bought the Yoga 710 and I really like it, but I have ran into a problem with the touchPad. Everything worked fine up until the last few days. The three and four finger swiping gestures no longer work (I double checked the settings. Three finger gestures are on). From what I have been able to find online, it looks like an issue that arises when you put your computer into sleep mode. Not really sure where to go from here as far as a fix. Hi I bought my Y500 a few days ago and happy with it in general. However, one day the two-finger-tap (for right click) on the touchpad stopped working. Below is a description. Everything else as far as I can tell, including two-finger scroll and one-finger tap and so forth, are working fine, but the two-finger tap stopped working even though it worked fine for a few days. I have a suspicious as to what caused it but I'm not entirely sure. In any case I think it's most likely a bug, and probably software. One day I went into "control panel" -> "mouse" -> "device settings" -> "settings..." -> "Scrolling" -> "two-finger scrolling" -> "enable coasting". I played with coasting for a while, and soon disabled it again because I didn't really like it. However, it was then that I noticed that my two-finger tap stopped working. I have doubled-checked that "control panel" -> "mouse" -> "device settings" -> "settings..." -> "clicking" -> "two-finger click" is set to "secondary click (context menu, special drag)", but the two-finger click still doesn't work, even after a restarted. I downloaded the latest driver (version 16.2.18.0) and it still didn't work. I uninstalled the driver and installed it again and it still doesn't work. Now I like using the touchpad, but really hate living without two-finger tap for right-clicking. Please help me with this, thank you in anticipation.

Answer:Y500 touchpad two-finger-tap not working

I seem to have found a solution but I don't know exactly why it solves the problem. It seems that the problem might be that while the Synaptics touchpad device is a PS/2 device, it keeps getting software inteference (of some sort) by being recognised as an SMB (system management bus) device. What solved the problem for me was to go to "device manager" -> "system devices", locate "Synaptics SMB Driver", and either disable it or delete it. The touchpad two-finger-tap should then immediately start working.

I have been searching high and low for a solution to solve the fact that the drivers for the Elan touchpad on the U530, while working perfectly in every other way, will not perform any action I set for the two finger tap function. I bought my Y580 about a month ago and it has been great. The only problems I've been having with it is with the touchpad. About a week ago the synaptics software on here started to shutdown at random and things like two finger scrolling and swiping from the sides would all stop working. I searched around and downloaded updated software both from synaptic's website and from lenovo driver support. The newest ones from lenovo are the only ones that don't quit at random but now the only thing that doesn't like to work still is the two finger tap to right click. Sometimes it'll work for the first ten min when I first turn the laptop on but then it'll quit. Two finger click sometimes works for right click but not always and two finger tap for right click never works any more. And suggestions would be nice. Thanks.

Hi,
Last week I updated my machine to the latest BIOS from Dell, file name 7437A10.exe. The machine rebooted fine after the installation and worked fine for a day or two. But now my machine will not boot pass the DELL logo (the progress bar at the bottom keeps spinning). The hard disk light lights up and blinks, indicating that the system is accessing the hard disk.
I tried a few things to get the machine to boot, with no success. What I tried was:

press Start and wait for the machine to boot for about 5 minutes, Iooking at the logo
press and hold the start button for about 30seconds
detach the battery, press the start button for about 30seconds to release any remaining current, attach the battery and tried to boot
reset the bios settings to default

None of these options worked. Can you help me figure out what the problem is?
I'm running Windows 10.

Thank you in advance.
Vassil

Answer:Inspiron 7437 WILL NOT REBOOT after BIOS Update

Why did you update the bios? Laptops rarely need bios updates and if you do update the bios it should be done before upgrading the operating system. Dell has all the drivers you needed for win 10 here--
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-14-7437/drivers
Try booting to Safe Mode or to the repair disk you made. You might be able to run the diagnostics to test the hardware and do a custom test of the hard drive. Bios update failures usually do not "work for a few days." It might be a coincidence and something else is causing the problem. Use the links on the Support page to get more info.

Answer:touchpad for scrolling is not working for g500

here is what i would try to do:download driver package from lenovo support page, dont click to install it but rather unpack it in to you known folder and remember destination, then go to device manager, find pointing device and go to its properties, then go under drivers tab and click update drivers after that click update manualy and navigate to that destination folder you extracted installation file and see if then it will update, if not try under device manager and pointing device and click uninstall and then try installing driver from installation file by regular install

I have a acer aspire 5750g, I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 today and everything works fine, expect that the scrolling feature on the touch pad isn't working. Is there any fix to this?

Answer:Synaptics touchpad scrolling not working.

I'm dealing with the same thing. I chatted with acer tech support and they shluffed it off and said it's a windows problem not an acer issue. Does anyone out there have a solution?

hi mnjackie99,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to verify, when you open the Mouse Properties, what's the version listed on the Synaptics Pointing Device?

- Sample image

If you have Synaptics Pointng Device v16.2.10.13 as listed on the Lenovo website, can you try the driver directly from the Synaptics Website.

- Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 64/32-bit Edition v17.0.19

Regards

Hey, I'm having an issue with activating scrolling on my Lenovo laptop. I am fairly certain it is a T450 model. I have gone to Control Panel > Mouse > Settings (under Trackpad) and enabled scrolling as well as horizontal and vertical for both two and one finger, but it still will not scroll! Any solutions?

Hey all you wonderful tech-savvy people! I know this is probably an annoying question that gets asked all the time, but I honestly have no idea how to fix this. The two finger scrolling on my Samsung RF511 laptop has decided it wants to stop working. I haven't installed anything or done anything different, so I don't know why this is happening.

Anyone out there willing to tell me how to fix this?

Answer:Scrolling on my Samsung laptop touchpad not working...

Try reinstalling the TouchPad drivers/software from the Samsung website which you can find here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/NP-RF511-S02US

Hi,
I had this problem for quite some time, USB HDDs were not recognised properly but usually after poking and disconnecting, it was OK.
Recently, no HDD is recognised (in Windows Explorer it says "Local Disc" but when you dounble click on it, I get "Disc is corrupted or unreadable".
I read somewhere that this is a problem with USB drivers, but I don't know how to check this or update the drivers.
thanks in advance for advice.

My laptop occasionally won't turn on. No fans, lights, etc. I can get it to turn on by holding the power button or pressing it multiple times. It seems to happen more after sitting off overnight with the AC adapter plugged in. Although when I unplug the charger it still has difficulty starting. I have a Dell Inspiron 7437 running windows 10. All drivers/BIOS are up to date. The laptop is just over a year old.
Troubleshooting steps I have taken include running the pre-boot assessment and Dell diagnostics. Doing a clean install of Windows 10 (this problem occurred 2 weeks after installing Windows 10, although I don't think they are related). I have read about static build-up and think this may be the problem. However, my battery is not removable and I don't know of a permanent solution if this is in fact the problem. (I have read to remove the battery and AC adapter and press the power button to release static buildup). The power button appears to be making good contact.
My other guess is something is wrong with the battery. However, it says the battery is working and has 92% health.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 7437 laptop sometimes won't turn on (Static build-up?)

Hi player647, mine is an Inspiron 14 7000 series (7437) and I am having the exact same issue you discribe.
The solution I find till the moment, is to open the back cover, put the battery switch to "OFF" and then to "ON" again, and after that the laptop starts.
Did you find a permanent solution?.
Iīm thinking that the problem may be the battery too... but it still work like the first day (autonomy).
In my case, I try multiple things and no luck... like avoid to leave at the night de AC adapter plugged in, etc, but it continues to be very random.
I really like this laptop, any help you can give me, I will appreciate!!.
