X1 Yoga Is digitizer resolution related to LCD Res...

Question: X1 Yoga Is digitizer resolution related to LCD Res...

During a "smackdown" review between an X1 Yoga and a Surface Book it was shown that the SB had smooter (less pixilated) pen strokes. I noted the SB had a higher resolution screen than the X1 Yoga and I wonder if the digitizer resolution is related to the LCD resolution? Would a X1 Yoga with a WQHD screen have less pixilated pen strokes than a X1 Yoga with a 1080p screen? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Question: Yoga 910 Digitizer

I bought a Yoga 910, as I found out, it doesn't support active pens.  I see on a few sites they sell the display assembly.  https://www.amazon.com/910-14IKB-910-14ISK-Digitizer-Display-Assembly/dp/B071JV7R17 I wanted to know are these screens legit?  It was marketed without active support, but do they sell the screens with the digitizers in them seperately now?

Answer:Yoga 910 Digitizer

That just looks like a replacement screen for the 910, no different to the one that comes with the laptop - it doesn't have a pen digitizer.

Hello, my Lenovo yoga 13 display is broken (just digitizer, not the whole display, LCD and everything other inside is ok) and I'm looking for new. On ebay and other public stores, I found only whole display or lot of digitizers for yoga 11 but not for 13. Is there another way how to get new digitizer without buying the whole display? On repair service, they want 11 000 CZK (about 650$) for replacement but they want to replace the whole display, which is not necessary in my case. Thanks to all for reply

Answer:Digitizer for Yoga 13

Good luck on your search! I broke my screen a little while ago on my yoga 13, and it was $300 usd for a new screen, but now I'm getting weird errors with it. Best of luck, please follow up if you find a solution since it's helpful for others!

Just to be clear, this is the laptop that I have. I need a pen for it. Any pen at all. Does one exist? Every single pen I've found, people say it doesn't work with this specific laptop. I have friends with lenovo laptops and I've tried their pens on mine and it doesn't work. My finger works fine, but I can't take notes in class like that. I have a pen that works on my iPad, but I don't really like it. I tried it on the Yoga, and it did work, but it was downright terrible. It only picked up about half the time. Lenovo has a thinkpad yoga pen on their website, but I'm quite positive that won't work with this model. So is there anywhere I can a suitable pen? Thanks.

Answer:Yoga 3 14 Digitizer Pen

The yoga 3 14 does NOT have a digitizer layer under the LCD panel. Which means NO digitizer pen will ever work with it. Trust me, im typing from my yoga 3 14 now. The 14" Thinkpad yoga does however suppport pen input. Your only option for a pen is one of those capacative pens with a rubber tip.

Is it possible to put a screen with the digitizer built in and install it in a yoga that did not originally come with a digitizer? I've got a 20CD-0032US  and was hoping a screen swap would be able to add the capability. Thanks

I've seen several threads about this issue, but none that address my specific concern.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14. It did not come with a digitizer pen included. However, I suspect that the screen does in fact have a Wacom digitizer layer. My rationale is this:

My computer came pre-installed with the Wacom Pen Calibration Software
Device Manager reports the following HID devices:-- HID-compliant digitizer-- HID-compliant pen-- Wacom Device
When I run the Wacom Hardware Check (available here), it reports "You have hardware compatible with the Wacom FEEL driver."
All of the 20DM008 models listed at http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/179 support the active pen (I cannot find the 20DM008U++ model there for some reason)

However, the computer will not recognize the ThinkPad digitizer pen I purchased.

So, I suppose I have three questions:

Am I just misinterpreting what I am seeing in the Device Manager?
Is it possible that Lenovo installs the Wacom screen on all it's tablets, but disables them somehow on models not marketed as digitizer ready?
If so, is there any way for me to enable my screen to allow for digitizer use?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - Digitizer Pen

Good day.

Looking at the models that support pen at the PSREF link you included, please notice that it specifies "Active Pen". This is not the same as the ThinkPad Digitizer Pen. That's why it won't work for you.

You need the newer, AAAA battery-powered Active Pen. Apologies, but I don't have a link for it.

Edit to add: Have a look at this - https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178Please see the Compatibility section for important info.

I have a cracked screen on Yoga 2 13  and i am thinking to replace it. Since warranty is not working I contacted the service centre and they offered the replacment for the price of new laptop. So I said thanks either I will use as it is or find cheaper.  So please help me find the cheaper one which the most importantly fits to my one. I bought it in China (but not there anymore) and as I see the whole screen no. is 73048979. Also it issaid on paper  "13,3 FHD LED TS". I find part no. like B133HAT02.0   or LP133WF2 SP A1. But not the previous one. Can you help with finding the right one. It is frustrating a bit since I am not tech man. I am thinking sending back from here: http://www.365laptoprepair.com/Product/Lenovo-Yoga-2-13-Screen-Only or from ebay where I can find cheaper Chinese one. Is the screen from the link fitting my model? anyone knows?

Hello, I'd like to know if the Yoga 520 offers an active digitizer making the use of an active pen possible. Not a passive/capacitive one, but an ACTIVE one. I've recently bought a notebook which said it had support for active pens and ended up with a touchscreen instead which offers capacitive pen support only. I aim to use Staffpad with it so if I could be informed of it's compatibility with the app that'd be better.

the wacom digitiser should be bonded to the LCD, and does not come as a separate part. http://support.lenovo.com/en_AU/product-and-parts/detail.page?&DocID=PD029829

Hey, does anybody know which pens are compatible with the Yoga 460?For me the pen tip feels a bit too hard on the display. I've had the Note 10.1 2014 with a better Pen and bought a Lenovo stylus. But they were passive digitizers...

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 260 & 460 Digitizer

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I can only talk from my experience.  I have ThinkPad Pen Pro 4X80H34887 on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 ( 20DM008UUS ).
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4X80H34887/460/41E9A3C3FB5A45A9AC47C56812E4188C

For what I know (I may be wrong) the Pen Pro uses Wacom technology, it has a battery inside. I found it very nice with a nice size... but it depends on personal taste.

Can you post the full model number of the computer you want to check it will work with the pen?
I know that the Thinkpad Pen Pro web page may not say much. So, what I saw it was recomended on this forum was:
1) Check your computer model against the PSRef Books: http://psref.lenovo.com/
See if your model is listed with "Active Pen" support.

2) There is more information about the Thinkpad Pen Pro here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178

There is also the Thinkpad Yoga Pen , but I don't have experience with that one, some amazon review says it does not have batteries and it focus for replacement for Thinkpad Yoga that came with pen... but I don't know.

Regards.

Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Regards.

I just got a Yoga S1 with the Digitizer Pen.  Is the pen supposed to behave similar to a standard touch?  In otherwords, can I use it instead of my finger when touching the screen?  So far it doesn't seem to have any affect on the windows start screen.  I know the pen works because I found an app that translates the writing to text (can't remember the app name, still learning what came on the computer).  I'm just trying to learn the capabilities and limitations of the pen. Thanks in advance

Hello, I purchased two new Yoga 12 notebooks and have tried to wipe and install my own volume license version of Windows 8.1. I downloaded the drivers from the support site and installed all but am getting problems with the xHCI USB 3.0 controller. The driver always shows as failed state.  When I try to go and download the xHCI driver as a standalone driver it shows as only available for Windows 7. When I try to install it I always get the error "This product does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". At this point I do not have USB 3.0 and my digitizer pen does not work when touching the screen. My other notebook does work, but I have not installed my copy of Windows 8.1 on it. The driver must be somewhere, can someone point me in the right direction? I already tried to use system update but all it found was some bios update and wifi drivers. I really need to get the pen to work. If you touch the screen it works fine, its just the pen and apparently USB 3.0. My model is 20DL003AUS. Thanks, n152

I learned that the digitizer with Helix cannot be used as an eraser, does the ThinkPad Yoga digitizer have the same problem? Thanks

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga Digitizer Question

the digitiser pen on Helix, TPT2 and Yoga all lack the traditional eraser function of the traditional ThinkPad X series tablet. There is a side button on the digitiser pen, which you can use for eraser function. Alternatively, get the X series tablet digitiser pen which has an eraser function, they work with the ThinkPad Yoga (and is what i am using now).

I'm trying to find out what digitizers might work as an alternative to the pen supplied with the Thinkpad Yoga S1. I find the accuracy and comfort of the supplied pen to be insufficient. I'd like to know if anyone has found one that includes an eraser and whether it's fully functional. If there are pens that are compatible, what is involved in getting it to work? Hello,I just bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 (20DL000SIX) that does not come with the pen apparently (I still have to receive it physically), but *does* have the full HD capacitive screen multitouch (1920 x 1080).I also bought separately the Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen (4X80F22110).I spent a lot of time to understand if the two are compatible (i.e. the wacom digitizer is installed or not on the laptop), and on Lenovo website, following Products -> Accessories&Software -> Search For Compatible Accessories For Your System, it looks that indeed they are:http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:find-compati... I see that there are multiple posts on similar issue, confirming that the communication of Lenovo about pens and digitizer is really inadequate.I read in many places that the thinkpad yoga's that don't come with the pen do *not* have the digitizer. I also read that the full HD screens does have te digitizer. So, I'm getting confused...: my yoga does have the full HD but does not come with the pen included! There is no clear information anywhere and also the Lenovo  support (I called on the phone many times) is not satisfactive on this.Does anyone have the same model, or have a more clear idea on this topic? Thanks!Giulia

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 12: digitizer? (20DL000SIX)

Hi giulsi

I also agree with you on this subject. There is much confusion with the "pens" on Thinkpad Yogas.
I think that Lenovo should specify better on the webpage (shop) which Thinkpad Yoga came with Active Pen, and on the Pen pages (also on the shop page) they should specify which models apply for it, and where to search if you computer has support for it.

How to know if you Thinkpad Yoga is Pen Compatible?
For the moment one thing that works to know if your Thinkpad is "Pen Compatible" is to search on the PSRef books.
http://psref.lenovo.com/
or
http://psref.lenovo.com/Book

I searched your model:
http://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/ThinkPad_Yoga_12?M=20DL000S%2B%2B
It says it has:

Pen
Digitizer pen

So that's good......
There are other models that says "Active Pen".. not sure if that means it only works with the "Thinkpad Pen Pro" or not.

How to resolve the question of which pen is good for you?
Thinkpad Yoga Pen suppor page:
https://support.lenovo.com/ec/es/documents/pd030464
It says "The ThinkPad Yoga Pen supports the ThinkPad Yoga." So it may also work.

I'm guessing that it will work, but please post back when you get your pen to see if it works with your model.
Regards

Hello, I just received my new shiny TPY (again). The first time I got it, the digitizer wasn't working. After a bit of research I realized that it probably was a hardware issue (No digitizer, pen or wacom device in device-manager). So I send it back. The mainboard got replaced and today I have my machine back. It was all working fine including the digitizer. But from one minute to the other it stopped working and I can't find any wacom or digitizer devices in the device-manager.Now my first thought was, that the Windows updates messed something up, so I've done a rollback but it's still not working.Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware issue again? Thanks for advance.Robinhuett

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga - Digitizer is not working

Hello. It isn't a Hardware Problem. It seems to be a software problem after Windows 8.1 Update. I have the same problem :-( When I start the PC it works perfect, until I used it as Tablet. After that the Digitizer Pen didn't work. So I reinstalled all drivers. After that the pen worked.. so I tested it again as Tablet, after that. the Digitizer Pen didn't work. Now I installed all drivers again but the Pen didn't worked. It is a big problem at Lenovo, because Lenovo has problems with the pen software a long time. It is soooo sad because I love the Thinkpad Yoga but with this Problem the price isn't acceptable. So I am going to send it back and wait for the Surface Pro 3. Because Thinkpad stands for the perfect Business Notebook and now... Lenovo has with the digitizer pen more problems than all others. And this is very sad :-(

Hi everyone. I am looking to buy a laptop for university (studying engineering). I would like something that is durable, and powerful. Thats why I am looking into getting the Thinkpad Yoga. I love the convertable and compact feel, as well as the SSD that I will be getting with it.  However, another reason why I wanted to get it is because of the 'Active Digitzer'. I didn't even know what this was called since a week ago, and I still cant seem to understand what this feature will allow me to do? How does the Digitzer benefit me? Especially when I compare it to the Yoga Pro 2 (even tough that also has a touchscreen). Am I unable to draw on a YP2? Would I not be able to draw on the screen? I want to use it mainly when I use Adobe Illutrator. Is the Digitzer option worth the extra money I have to pay? With that feature added on, I will be paying almost $2000 :s

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga: Is it worth it and Digitizer?

Hi there: I have been using X230T, a predessor of Thinkpad Yoga. X230T also comes with a digitizer. I bought X23)T also for a reason: I can take note during class. I am not an engineer but a finance student. 1. You might want an Active Digitizer because it allows you to write on-screen. Use Microsoft One Note. Your computer can replace your pen and paper.2. You can still draw on YP2. But what do you feel when you use your finger, say your pointer, as a pen  YP2 does not have a digitizer pen. 3. The pen I believe is included. You do not have to pay extra unless you want to have a spare one. 4. I think Lenovo Thinkpad has lost its quality legacy from IBM. I do not like the new layout of the keyboard (I like the trackpoint but the moust click now share with the trackpad. It is just ridiculous. You cannot have an accurate click with it (for me))5. Just look at the Microsoft new Surface pro 3. You might like it! If the next time I upgrade my computer, I would by a Surface pro instead of the Thinkpad.   Cheers

Hi, Could somebody please point me to the place where it list the digitizer in the Thinkpad Yoga as a Wocom? I see it all over in review sites, but I can't find it in the description or the product specifications. I'm interested in this model:20CD00AVUS, which I know includes a digitizer, but I want to make sure its definitely Wacom... they all just say "digitizer". So I guess what I am trying to figure out is:1. Are ALL digitizers installed in Thinkpad Yoga's the same, or do they vary in brand/quality?2. How can I find out if its a Wacom? Thanks for the help.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Wacom Digitizer?

First off the digitizer technology consists of two parts the digitizer enabled screen and the digitizer pen. Second i'd say all the TPYs have the same digitizer Technology (both screen and pen) licensed from Wacom. So the pen itself is probably prdouced by Lenovo or a third party. --- By the way other products like the Surface Pro, Vaio Duo or Galaxy Note have the same technology built in and you can use there respective digitizer pens for the TPY as well.

I just purchased a refurbished Thinkpad S1 Yoga from outlet. The description mentioned nothing about coming with a pen or having digitizer compatibility although these descriptions are generally not very detailed to begin with. I was reading that some of these machines (FHD) with the same specs as mine don't come with a pen nor  compatibility and am not sure if those two features can exist separately.  I think the newer versions all have both. Is there a way to tell if mine's compatible or not? Hey guys!I am looking forward to buy this beauty here: http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/yoga-series/yoga-14/ it's the second one with the 256 GB ssd and i7.I already asked this question to the Facebook Page of Lenovo Australia and New Zealand, but the guys there didn't get it.Does this particular laptop come with a wacom digitizer? So could I use, let's say, a wacom intuos pen to draw, make sketches and write notes?I asked the guys on Facebook if the laptop comes with an active digitizer layer, but all they answered was "it doesn't come with an active pen". They didn't answer on my second question whether or not if it comes at least with a wacom digitizer. That's why I signed up here Thanks for your help!

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 14: wacom digitizer?

Maybe i should add that I already looked up the details on the sales page and all it says is: "Active pen: none"

I've read that the 20cd0032us and 33us Thinkpad Yoga models are the only ones without an active digitizer.  However, this appears to be all that is for sale on Amazon and other places.  Any idea of where you can but a Thinkpad Yoga with an active digitizer??

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga w/ active digitizer

They are only available on Lenovo's website as far as I've seen. I tried looking other places like Amazon, too, but haven't seen the digitizer model. I ended up buying one directly.

So like I do from time to time, I'm configuring a Thinkpad Yoga to mull over (window shopping until I can afford one) when I notice that there's no mention of a digitizer or pen functionality any more, anywhere. Did something happen to it? Pen support was a deal breaker for me.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Digitizer not available anymore??

I noticed this missing info too when ordering my custom ThinkPad Yoga, so at checkout I added pen from the optional accessories. When my laptop arrived, it came with two pens! One inside the laptop package, and another in separate box. I suppose it might be their website issue or country-specific supply issue.

Hi I hope someone can help me. I have had my S1 for about 10 months now and i have had no issues with the pen and using it. I used the pen last weekend in lectures, taking notes with no issues or problems and have gone to use it today, as part of my assignment, and it just isn't working at all. It doesn't matter if its in laptop, tent or tablet mode, i get no resposne from the pen at all. I have had a look in the device manager and have no issue notifications, but likewise, i can't locate anythingthat i think looks like the digital pen drivers (nothing Wacom in there). I have searched around the forums and o-line and can't seem to find anything that might help me. Have even searched, without finding, how to unistall and re-install the Wacom drivers. If anyone has any suggestions on how to diagnose and resolve this problem i would be really happy to receive them. many thanks for your help Chris

Hi, Today (or last night, not sure) three columns of my TPY 460's digitizer seem to have stopped working. Two of them are right next to each other, the third one a little further to the right. (I'm guessing the number of columns by the distance of the small dots that you can see on the display when you look at it from an angle). When I tap the pen onto the two defective columns, nothing happens, when I drag it across, it stops on one side and then jumps to the other. It's similar for the single column, but there isn't a complete stop and a jump, more of a non-linearity, the cursor moves slower, then faster, then slower again. For finger touch, the problem is similar. Is this a common problem that can be fixed by properly plugging  some cables or should I return the computer? (It's a demopool device, so I have no warranty, but I can return it within two weeks without a reason).

Hi,
I haven't used the digitizer a lot, but I know it used to work as recently as last week.  The pen calibrates in the wacom calibration utility, but it does not interact with any other programs or even the "Finished" button on calibrate.  I am running Windows 10.  I recently applied the latest updates too.  Do you have any suggestions for me to try?
Thanks in advance,

To my knowledge, only selected ThinkPad Yoga models have Wacom digitizers. If you can post the machine type-model number, it would help. Please don't post your serial number, though.

Did the earlier models of the thinkpad yogas sold on lenovo.com all come with the wacom digitizers? I've read that all models of the thinkpad yoga sold on lenovo.com came with the wacom digitizer. I ordered a thinkpad yoga off lenovo.com with the 1366x768 screen on Feb 23 and I haven't received it yet. I could've swore that when I chose the screen resolution their was none that specified it came with the pen and wacom digitizer, but now I'm second guessing myself. Now I see that it only comes with the 1920x1080 FHD screen and it that option specifies it has the pen and wacom digitizer. So I'm just wondering if the earlier models from lenovo.com came with the wacom digitizer and they just recently switched it to only available on the 1920x1080. The part # for my computer is listed as 20CDCT01WW.

I opened my Y2Pro only to find my screen cracked on the left hand side. Other than no touch screen it works fine. From what I understand it's only the digitizer that is cracked. I found a replacement Lenovo digitizer but can't find instructions on how to fix it. Laptop repair 365 has a video on replacing the whole screen. I'm now seeing posts saying the digitizer can't be separated from the lcd...Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, just in case someone is interested in pressure sensitivity for the Thinkpad Yoga.Try this driver from wacom ;-)http://www.wacom.eu/index4.asp?pid=9278&lang=de This morning I had a phone call with the Lenovo Support Europe regarding the subject, but all they were able was to tell me to send my brand new Yoga in. I can not tell you how disappointed I am from this support. They are hardly to understand and they know nothing!!! As an early adopter of the Thinkpad Tablet 1 this was not my first experience with them and the only reason to buy the Yoga was that there is no alternative for my kind of usage. Nevertheless I found the solution by my self and I can't tell you how happy I am. Not to be misunderstood, this is a problem of the european support I don't believe (or hope) that it is the same with the US support and especially the Lenovo Staff in this forum does a really good job!

Hello Summary:I bought a 20CD0001IV about two months ago (Demopool). I need it for work and drawing, but so far I have numerous issues. And right now I'm kinda lost: What should I do? Send a support question to lenovo/IBM EC? Contact my retailer? Are these common problems? I'm also not sure about my warranty. The Lenovo Solution Center says, I still have warranty. The different parts of the website say different things. I'll assume worst case: My warranty is likely expired. I tried:Fresh Installation Windows 8.1, newest drivers, newest Wacom drivers. Tried different settings. Calibration, Pressure Curves, all the stuff. Have 3 different Pens. Searched google, searches this forum... Problems:Massive Ghosting, I know, there is a solution on the forum. It says to replace the old screen with a newer model, but is this possible if the warranty is expired?Calibration is a mess! The digitizer point wobbles under the pen, this is most obvious near the screen border, where straight lines turn into curves. But it's also an issue in the middle of the screen. In some places the cursor is 2mm top left of the actual pen tip, in other places it's bottom right UNDER the pen. I tried all kinds of calibration already... I know about a "dead spot" issue, but this was fixed with a firmware update and my issue is all over the place, not just one spot. The screen is not very solid. Even medium pressure with the pen leads to dark and light display glitches near the tip. Pen press... Read more

Answer:TP Yoga numerous issues with screen and digitizer

I did some more testing with the maximum pressure issue. And it might be related to the pressure level of pens. As far as I know the Yoga supports 1024 levels. I have a new Wacom PL-900 and it has only 512, and the pressure problem is strongest. It is the same with the original Yoga pen, I'd say - even though this should have 1024 levels? But with an old Samsung Series 7 pen I need to press harder to reach 100% pressure - although it is still not really "hard". I'm not entirely sure how many pressure levels the Samsung Slate pen has, thought it was 510, but have seen some reviews mentioning 1024...Anyway, I posted this issue in the wacom forums.

Hello, I just got a yoga 14, and I see that there is a wacom device in the device manager, as well as a wacom pen configuration application installed. Answer:Yoga 14 (20dm008uus) wacom digitizer stylus?

The pen with part number 4X80F22110 as well as the Wacom Bamboo Smart pen are pens that use the Wacom EMR technology. The ThinkPad Yoga 14 only supports pens that use the Wacom Active ES technology (optionally, as there are some configurations where pens other than those for capacitive touch screens that imitate your finger don't work at all)As your ThinkPad Yoga 14 seems to support the Wacom Active ES-based pens, you should try the ThinkPad Pen Pro (4X80H34887)

Hello all, apologies if this is a duplicate issue, but my searches did not turn anything up. I just received my new TPY a couple of days ago and have been happily installing software. Today was the first time I really tried using my digitizer pen, as I finally had time to open Photoshop and Illustrator. In doing so, however, I discovered pen calibration is completely messed up for the top edge of the screen. I tested it outside of the Adobe programs and the same problems occur there. I have already gone in and tried recalibrating my pen more than once using the calibration tools in the Control Panel. Is this a known issue that I just need a driver update for or is this a hardware issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Erika

Recently I found out that my lenovo yoga 710-15ikb laptop doesnt support digitizer active pen technology. Its hidden in online talks and also frustration when you buy a $70 wacom bamboo ink pen to find that it doesnt work. I understand that most active pens wont work with my computer because the screen (and maybe motherboard) dont have a digitizer. However, I have been looking online and some retailers appear to be selling digitizer lcd screens for my specific model. My question is whether or not these retailers are selling aftermarket screens and if they are will the digitizer work once one is installed? Also, I have a lot of experience doing repair work, mainly with digital cameras and building my desktop, so the task of replacing my laptops screen is not a problem Im just unsure as to whether or not buying a new digitizer lcd screen will work. I dont want to spend money that I dont have to if it turns out that I am just being misled.

Thanks!

Let me know if you need more clarification I'll be around for a while.

I have just purchased the ThinkPad Yoga. I was wondering if there is a way to change what "handedness" you on when using the digitizer pen. I am left handed and the pen is obvioulsy configured to be used with your right hand. So when I write using the pen the writing and the pen tip to not match up like it is supposed to. It matches perfectly if I were to write something with my right hand but when I use my left hand, the writing is off (as in the letters do not match up to where I wanted to write them) Any information on this would be great, kind of anoying for trying to add notes in class. Thanks

I just got a brand new Yoga 12, and it has the integrated stylus in the laptop. When i first set it up, I was able to use the stylus to hand write in a program like one note. Let's say I close my laptop, and walk to a different room, when I open it back up from sleep mode, touch screen still works, but the computer doesn't respond at all to the stylus. No handwriting support, no touch support with the pen, only my capactive fingers. I find this very odd, and it works when I restart, but this seems to be a common issue with my peers who have Yoga 12's as well. Is there a fix for this? my wacom drivers are up to date, not sure if I should buy another stylus if this issue is recurring or not.

I am experiancing a strange problem with the pen/ digitiser: after waking up from standby, the pen seems to go into a frenzied clicking when i touch it to the screen, i.e. as if the pen is tapping the screen continously at very high speed. The problem goes away upon restarting the machine but comes back after standby. I have installed all windows and lenovo updates to no avail...any one familiar with the issue?

It seems to be very intermittent.I looked for updates to the wacom driver on wacoms website, with no luck. Strangely enough, the current driver being used for the thinkpads (and presumably all tablet pc's) comes under their 'Legacy' drivers section!

Today my digitizer stopped working for the first time since I purchased my Thinkpad Yoga several years ago. Touch screen still works as normal. I don't think it's software related because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu and it doesn't work in either operating system. Before it would work in both operating systems, and I haven't had any updates since it was last working. Is it possible for the digitizer itself to be broken somehow? I haven't dropped the device or spilled any liquid on it. I've read elsewhere on the forum that the digitizer is powered by a capacitor that is charged within the laptop. Is this still true for Thinkpad Yogas? Are there steps I can take to diagnose the issue?

I have a problem where the digitizer pen interittently stops working on the yoga S1 - win8.1 x64 with all updates applied.I can re-create the issue by folding the screen from normal mode to  tablet mode, then normal mode , then tablet mode. At this point, the pen susually stops working. I can get it to come back to life sometimes if i wait a minute, or if i go to power settings and apply / un apply something or by restart. It sounds like a driver issue to me - and possiby power management drivers - triggered by swithcing to tablet mode.I have tried max perfromance, min power savings etc to stop the screen driver being starved of power, have disabled sleep and hibernation. Done multiple driver re-installs, but no difference. Sometimes restarting the drivers relating to the pen and touch screen bring it back to life. But it should not die in the first place. Anyone else have this or do i have a hardware issue?

Resolution seems to play out very poorly in many programs, particularly desktop evernote. Anyone found a solution to make it look good?  When I run my screen at full resolution, Evernote type is very small and the icons/buttons are out of whack. When I copy the text from the web (eg- from a recipe on a website) it consistently pastes in with an even smaller font (Georgia 6pt).

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro and Evernote- seeking resolution resolution

this is a windows scaling issue. Try to change the font scaling to 200% in windows display. This may make it slightly easier for you. Otherwise switch resolution of the LCD to 1600x900.

Images (those on webpages and graphic displays like a Trillian instant message window or the Warcraft launcher box) are showing up at something like one and a half times their normal size. It's altered the appearance of everything from the way warcraft looks in game to the size of user icons on livejournal, and the size of the menu bars in IE.

I'm reasonably certain it isn't the monitor resolution, as I checked it and it's still set at 1280*768 like always. I tried setting it to a couple different settings and putting it back to see if it would somehow refresh itself, but nothing changed. I tried playing with the DPI settings as well, but that only changed the appearance of text size, increasing or shrinking it as I raised or lowered the DPI.

Hey guys,

I was simply curious if anyone knows if the resolution (i.e. 800x600, 1024x768, etc.) and color graphics (i.e. 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit) settings for your desktop display have any effect whatsoever on how good games will run on your computer?

For example, if Computer A's desktop settings are at 800x600 with 16-bit color graphics and Computer B's desktop settings are at 1024/768 with 32-bit color graphics, and then you fire up Half-Life 2 on both computers, will the game run faster on Computer A or Computer B?

And if it will run faster, can you explain how/why?

Sorry for such strange questions.

Hi,I have two issues with my Yoga 3 pro. I've seen posts about both on this forum, but for me they apper to be related.1) Wifi card disappeared completely, then reappeared about 6 weeks later2) Computer freezes with screen on, sometimes during boot, sometimes soon after boot. Requires power off to reset About 8 weeks ago my Y3P froze a few times, during boot or shortly after. A week or two later, my wifi card completely disappeared (including from device manager).  I bought an USB wifi adapter as a temporary fix, and continued to use the laptop. I ordered some tools, planning to disassemble and see if I coud re-seat the Wifi card. All working ok for about 6 weeks, and i never got around to trying to fix the onboard wifi. About a week ago, the WiFi card "re-appeared". I was happy, and put my $10 usb adapter away. Then, few days ago, the random freezes started again. this time the laptop hardly ever got to fully running, freezing during boot or while entering the password.  The freezes had not happened while the onboard wifi wasn't working. I hadn't noticed at the time, as it has only frozen a couple of times before the onboard wifi disappeared. When the freezing started agin, I had a hunch that the onboard wifi was the cause. My tools had since arrived, so I pulled of the back and removed the BCM94352Z wifi card. Re-assembled and dug out my USB wifi and all is good again. So, this points to the freezes being related to a problem with the wifi... There is no specific driver for the display itself. Usually the EDID of the display will update the resolution automatically.

It sounds like a config issue. On the screen for Screen Resolution, click "Detect Displays" and see if the options change. If not, can you tell me if the 1920x1080 is listed as (Recommended)?

Hi all, I had gotten the 910 around november of last year and its a powerful and great little machine. My one gripe with it though is the resolution. The 3840x2160 is fantastic but the problem I have with it is that some software partially or fully cannot scale properly, leaving you with either extremely large or small buttons on an other wise perfectly scaled window. I had also followed the guidance at have windows scale things with the display tool but again it doesn't always working perfectly. I had read here to dial it down to 1920x1080 which is working flawlessly however there is some graininess that comes along with that. Was wondering if anyone here had experienced the same issue and if there is another work around I am missing?

I can't set a resolution above 1024 x 768 on my yoga 900 with a usbC to DVI adapter. Custom Resolutions doesn't work, or at least, I can't find a way to use the custom resolution I created. Thanks for any help!

Hi, I just bought a lenovo yoga 700 11.6. I encounter a very annoying problem and have tried to implement some solutions in this forum but still cannot really solve the real problem. This problem related to other problem such as escape key and paper display issues that discussed in other sub-forum but cannot completely be resolved. Okay so here's some background story about the problem: As usual, function keys are important for excel and stuffs but lenovo swapped it for other tasks, so I go to BIOS to swap back the function key. No problem, problem solved as expected, now I can press "F3" without having to press "Fn+F3".However, now the escape button is also swapped. If I press "Esc" it will turn on-off lenovo paper display, so I need to press "Fn+Esc" to perform escape, which is REALLY annoying.Okay, found partial solution under Yoga 3 subforum (how to reclaim Esc key). After implementing the solution, if I just start my computer I can press "Esc" and it works as intended to perform "escape" task. However afte a couple of minutes, I think the lenovo paper display software kicks in and then if I press "Esc" button, it will both perform escape task AND also turn on-off the paper display. This way, if I want to do escape task, I need to press "Esc" key twice (first press is to escape, but then paper display become turned on; the second escape to turn off paper display again). That's why I call this partial solution... Read more

Hi everybody Having an issue with my new y2p. apps havin troubles to display the whole picture on the 13.3.Sometime they fit with resolutions like W1360x768 but theres still missing the edges. Anyone knows how to update the hd 4400 to 15.x.....? Still on 10.x.... thx in advance

Answer:yoga 2 pro resolution problem

The issue might have to do with scaling. Try this: Control Panel -> Apperance and Personalization -> Display -> Check "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" -> Select "Extra Large - 200%" To update the graphics card, you need to uninstall the current driver to install the new driver.

I've seen quite a few posts and reviews that say that in some circumstances apps don't handle the high DPI of the Y2P and it makes them difficult to use. However, I've never seen this demonstrated in a video or even in a screenshot. Can someone post a screenshot of their desktop, with an app or two on it that isn't scaling properly? I'd like to see it. Sadly, the paucity of the Y2P in the UK means I can't go and check this out for myself in a shop. Thanks

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro QHD resolution problem example?

Don't worry about the QHD resolution. I never had issues with it.The only applications/games where I had trouble are:- ArmA 3: because of the performance requirements I had to use a 1280x720 resolution ingame, but it refused to scale to fullscreen. Instead it centered. It appears to be a bug with the game itself. Its older brother ArmA 2 works fine.- GenyMotion: because of the performance impact I had to pick a lower resolution here as well, which resulted in a tiny window. But once GenyMotion has loaded up you can stretch the window with the mouse manually or maximize the window. But generally the Yoga 2 Pro's display never causes issues. I never have any problems. And if you do have problems, it's most likely the software itself that's badly written, in that case look for an alternative. These are the only two games or applications that caused issues for me. But there is nearly always a workaround.Name a few applications you use and I will gladly test this on my Yoga 2 Pro for you. But I can guarantee you 99.9% of all applications work fine.

I just got it last week and I'm having a hard time getting used to it.  I'm coming over from a Mac Air running windows 7. What settings should I use to have it work like a normal laptop so my text and applications aren't microscopic? I'm really struggling using some software as it's overcompressing everything.   I just want it to work like a normal run of the mill laptop.  Not looking for ultra HD.... Appreciate any help.

Answer:What is a realistic resolution for a Yoga 2 Pro?

At 1080p is a good starting point. I use a higher res then that (and all programs work well) but, I am young with good eye sight.

I recently purchased a Thinkpad Yoga 12.5" convertible 2-in-1 laptop (20CD00B1US), and I have a question regarding the resolution.  The specifications indicate a 1920 x 1080 display, which is verified in the Control Panel.  There are some applications and programs that just do not seem crisp or clear, however, and I am confused as to why this might be.  For instance, when I check the display in Google Chrome, all of the analyzers indicate 1280 x 720.  Could this be a settings/driver issue that prevents all applications from acheiving the best display (i.e. a Windows 8.1 problem)?  Any advice would be appreciated!

I purchased a yoga 2 yesterday and i really like it. But the one thing that bothers me is that everything is so small on the highest resolution. Ive set all the icons to large but the hires just isnt practical. There is a option for 1920x1440p that i think works the best but it stretches everything out. I have a 2560x1440p monitor and i would love to set my yogas resolution to that. That way the apect ratio is right and i can still watch 1440p videos. I knew you could do it on windows 7 but i cant for the life of me figure out how to do it on windows 8. If anyone knows how too please help me out. Thanks

My Yoga 2 daily spontaneously changes resolution from full resolution to very low. It reverts itself without 2 minutes. I can be watching movie or use Skype and all of the sudden, screen resolution changes to very low and then without a minute or two goes back to normal. Then it works for about an hour without any changes, then then changes again for a minute.Very strange. I have never seen this with WindowsAny suggestions on how to solve this?

So, last year about this time I considered the original Yoga, but wasn't really in the market for a laptop. This year, I'd like to get one and spent over an hour at Best Buy messing with the new Yoga Pro 2. Beyond just my general lack of familiarity with Windows 8 ( both cool and maddening), the only real issue I have with the Yoga 2 is the screen resolution. The screen quality itself was really nice, but fonts, icons, etc. were all pretty small. Here's the kicker: I went to adjust the resolution and it was already at 1920X1080! When bumped to 3200x1800, well, let's just say I found it comical. I tried a few different resolutions, and was reasonably pleased that the quality did not seem to degrade badly (as you guys know, LCDs are really manufactured to run at one optimal resolution, and everything else is a compromise). I've read about the various windows scaling, but lots of stuff had issues as I was messing with it (i.e. why is that dialogue box still so small, or the text in it still tiny, etc). Anyway, I'm wondering if any/all of you have thrown in the towel and just run at a lower resolution all the time. If so, where did you settle (number-wise), and do you see any quality issues related to the less optimal resolution (or anything else...not the yellow issue)? Part of me thinks "why not just get something cheaper if I'm going to run it at the lower resolution anyway?)Thanks for the feedback!

Answer:Yoga 2 Owners...so what resolution do you run in?

I run 2048x1152. 90% of all desktop applications are unusable under 3200x1800. Even destkop steam games have problem displaying properly initially at that resolution. The performance for 3d 'metro' games is also horrible at that resolution (example, aslphalt 7). In my opinion, text is generally too small in 'metro' apps in that resolution too. 2048x1152 looks pretty good and its more than enough res.

I just took my yoga on my first business trip and I have to say that is both awesome (in terms of using it on a flight, in conferences) and frustrating (in terms of its wifi deafness). I may yet return it to Best Buy (I have 45 days) to see if I can get one that works better. As I've been playing around with the laptop, I've noticed that the wifi issues are most pronounced when the base of the laptop is resting against either my legs or on a dense surface. I was at a hotel with wifi in their lobby area and noticed that when I used it on a wood topped surface, it works ok most of the time but when I rest it on a stone surface or a surface with metal beneath it, wifi drops out. The extent to which it drops out also changes depending on the orientation of the device - it appears to be worst in laptop mode and best in tent mode. Given that the wifi repeaters were likely in the ceiling, it's not an issue of pure line-of-sight reception. This to me suggests that the antennas are either having a bridging issue (like the iphone 4) or that the presence of other materials is messing with the impedance of the antennas in the laptop. Clearly the RF engineer was sleeping on the job when this design came through - I bet in the rush to get it as thin as possible they failed to take into account the impact that environment would have on the device (though every tablet manufacturer is able to do this without issue...) I wonder if the same RF engineer will be able to s... Answer:Yoga wifi issues appear to be antenna location related not solely bad reception

Hi calebu2,

Thanks posting and Glad to hear that your loving the machine. I too just got a Yoga 13 and yes definitely a huge win. Though I must I say that I'veencountered any wireless issues as of yet though. I not particularly sure what can cause the Wifi issues as to be hones Most of the surface I've tried is are only wood one.

I have have yet to try the metal surfaces and stone surfaces. and see if it making any diffrences.

Another thing I'd like to check with you is your Wireless Drivers. Which Version and date do you have installed? On my machine I have the 1021.2.904.2012 verion with the release date of 4/9/2012.

Lenovo had released a new update of the drivers which was released on 23 Oct 2012 with the version 1.00.0193.
You want to consider updating if you have not done so. Click on the link below for the download.

Hope this helps.

Hi All... Accordingly to Intel's Driver, the optimal display resolution is 3840x2160 (4K) ... but it seems to perform better in all ways in 1920x1080 ... I would like to know your opinions/recommendations or what screen resolution you usually use. Thanks in advance!

So I am trying to set my computer to 1080p, since applications clearly cannot handle 1800p. However, everything is distorted and large after the change, even after I change the scaling to 100. Please help!

Answer:Yoga 2 pro resolution is driving me crazy

Well that makes no sense. Setting your Y2P to 1920 x 1080 and about 125% zoom should look perfect. You are doing it wrong.  Actually most applications handle 3200 x 1800 at 200% just fine.  Adobe products in general fail and that's Adobe's fault.

I recently bought a Yoga 2 Pro with Windows 8 and downloaded Google Chrome. The display was exceptionally clear. After I downloaded a game called League of Legends, the desktop icons became extremely large and the resolution in Google Chrome became very grainy and blurry. How do I revert the resolution to the factory settings?
