I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Need Screws For My Gateway NV55C Caddy

Go to your local small computer shop. Take the HDD and caddy with you. They will know what you need, have them, and probably charge you nothing to a couple dollars. If this one tries to gouge you, there's probably another one around the corner. When I drop a screw and it disappears into thin air, this is what I do.

How to obtain the four screws that secure the caddy to the laptop body?
(Not the screws that keep the HDD inside the caddy.)
Does anyone know the specification for these screws, and where I can buy them?
Thanks in advance.

I have a Gateway NV55C (SNID 03738258416) which came with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. When it wouldn't boot I used the [F10] menu and selected ?repair retaining files? which seemed to get significantly into the repair then a window appeared stating Windows cannot be installed on this machine and did a restart. After that restart it it goes into what appears to be a Windows setup process for a few seconds then a dialog stating Windows cannot be installed on this machine appears and it does a restart. Now the ?repair? option no longer appears in the [F10] menu. My hidden recovery partition is present and appears to be intact, but I can no longer get to it (even ?Safe Mode, Command Prompt? boot goes into that setup then fails in the same way). On the Gateway support site it finds my SNID, but the 3 recovery CDs are no longer present for download and only Windows 7 64 or 32 bit appears in the OS menu. Is it still possible to download the recovery CDs or a repair/install DVD for Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit? Alternately, can someone tell me what Registry entry, or bhoot option, is invoking that setup which fails?

I followed your instructions and if you need the other file to be sent please let me know. I have had problems for at least 2 months, have reformatted my harddrive no less than 15 times and whatever and whoever is responsible for doing this has embedded files that I can't see or wipe out. They also have done the same to my dads computer I was working on and my home PC. As I try to block them they are always ahead of me and wind up locking me out of my computers. Then I reformat and reinstall the OS that is usually as far as I get. They are recording my data and sending via email and I have found printer scripts and my spooler is running all day long. Sheesh this is so annoying and has taken up two months of my life not to mention the money I paid a guy to fix it. And obviously didnt I will love you forever for your help in ridding this person out of my computers. And any advice how to keep him out. Hugs

Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601)
Hello:
At the beginning of Sept 2012 I posted a BSOD thread here that was eventually resolved. The situation then, as now, was/is that I received an error about Windows Desktop Manager then went to BSOD. I received some great assistance by a 7 Forum Adviser but still could not resolve the problem. This included 36 hours of driver verifier, chkdsk, scan, etc and attempts at restore and repair.

I received a suggestion to re-seat my Memory Chips by another adviser and then then told to repair with the Windows install DVD. I did not have one but I was able to create a bootable DVD-R and USB Flash. The USB would NOT boot but I was able to get the DVD to go into upgrade and the files reloaded, which allowed the laptop to begin working again.
Two days ago the BSOD reappeared. Without going into more detail of what I have tried, I am posting here hoping for assistance.

I am attaching the Grab All zipped file as well as a BSOD file created in Niro's viewer.

I've had a Gateway NV78 Laptop for about 4 years now and have never had any problems. Today, when I turned it on it got stuck on the black screen with the Gateway logo showing, and on the bottom left corner it says "Press <F2> to enter setup". If I press F2 it then says "Please Wait...", but nothing happens, the screen just stays frozen like that.Anyone know how to fix this issue???message edited by Scorpjb

Answer:Gateway NV78 problem. Gateway screen with f2 showing bottom

This 1st thing I would try is shutdown the laptop, unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery, then press & hold the power button for at least 20 seconds. After doing that, reconnect everything & try powering it back up.If that doesn't work, try response #3 in the following thread:http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...

I've installed the Microsoft ATA Gateway on a dedicated server in a lab environment. The gateway shows a status of "Stopped" in the ATA Console configuration tab. On the ATA Gateway itself, the Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics Gateway service
will not start. I keep getting the following error: "Windows could not start the Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics Gateway service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly."
I get an Event ID 7031 error in the windows service logs that says: "The Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics Gateway service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 5000 milliseconds: Restart
the service". The service continually fails to start.
I'm not sure if this is related, but I also get the following error in the Microsoft.Tri.Gateway-Errors Log: "Error [AsyncResult]System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from
the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail. ---> System.ServiceModel.FaultException: An error occurred when verifying security for the message."

I'm using Windows Server 2012 R2. The Gateway is installed as a stand alone server with port mirroring configured for the capture NIC.

Installed ATA with no issues or errors. I've got a physical server running ATA Center and a separate physical server running ATA Gateway, and my Domain Controller is a physical server on the same network and VLAN.
I have two ports on my switch connected from the Domain Controller to the switch, and two ports on my ATA Gateway connected to the same switch.
For simplicity, port 1 and 2 on the switch are connected to the Domain Controller, port 3 and 4 are connected to the ATA Gateway.
Port 1 is set as a monitored port and port 3 a mirrored port in Mirror Group ID 1 on the switch.
Port 2 is set as a monitored port and port 4 a mirrored port in Mirror Group ID 2 on the switch.
I have confirmed with NetMon that bi-directional traffic can be seen between the Domain Controller and the Gateway on one of the NICs, but not on the other. I think this is due to there not actually being any traffic down the other as it is for redundancy
I believe.
The Gateway has successfully discovered the domain, DCs, users, computers etc, but I am not seeing anything in the timeline as yet (I realise I may need to wait a while for some actual events).
I also keep getting a high error: "Gateway not receiving network traffic", saying that the Gateway is not receiving mirrored traffic every half an hour or so. Could this be the interface that is connected to the redundancy port causing the error?
Since it is possible that no traffic is actually going down that port? ... Read more

the lap top is not mine so i do not know any of the specs of it off hand the casing does not have a model name/number. i do know it is running windows 8.1 and that this issue occurred after waking the laptop up from hibernate. i know this is not much to go off of but any help regarding this issue would greatly help me out. thank you.

Ok, I'm trying to get a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit boot repair disk. I have all the reinstall disks to do a back to factory settings that was purchased from Gateway(Acer) but I do not have a boot repair disk to fix the "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"  on the BSOD.  I tried to contact Microsoft and provided the Product key on the laptop, but was informed that I would have to contact the manufacturer because it was a preloaded Windows 7. I think it is wrong of them not to help since it is their OS that is causing the problem. But none the less I tried contacting Gateway but after holding for an eternity and never actually getting a human only to be disconnected it is getting very frustrating!

After finally figuring out how to reach the BSOD (never thought I would be glad about getting the BSOD)ha) to see the information it supplied. Then finally finding out for sure I have the 64 bit, all I need now is the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, with out the Service Pack 1 attached to it.

Unless I have been misinformed on another site and I CAN use the 7 Home Premium SP1 to boot from. Will I mess up my chance of booting the laptop back to life and out of the endless loop if I use the SP1? I don't want to make matters worse since I do not think it was updated with the service pack before it got stuck looping on the Windows Error Recovery Screen. I still can not get to any files in any of the usual ways...as in F8 , Alt/F10 or any of the other way... Read more

I have been given an older gateway computer to fool with. Origianlly nothing worked. I was able to find the mother board for it on the net and I replaced it. Now it will turn on and I get the logo screen and press F1 to make changes and For system info press the tab key. I can do both of those things. It won't let me make any changes though. It is recognizing the hard drive, the floppy, keyboard, mouse, CDROM etc. After that screen goes off I get a blinking cursor in the upper lft corner and nothing more. I have tried putting the windows 98 start up disk in and booting from that but the same thing always happens as listed above. I also tried booting with the windows xp disk. The original computer had windows ME. Several days ago I had posted on the software forum thinking it was a software problem. Finally one of them told me it was beyond their expertise and must be a hardware problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? No matter what I try I end up with the same blinking cursor and nothing else.

Anybody have any idea what's causing this, or how to fix it? I do know that there was a BIOS update that the computer kept telling me about that I hadn't updated yet. I don't know if maybe that has something to do with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Gateway NV78 Laptop stuck on Gateway Logo

Are you sure about bios update message? If so, where from (before windows or in windows). I've never heard of machine telling user about bios update - the reverse in fact (if you go on manufacturer's site there's usually lots of disclaimers and 'don't do it if everything is ok' messages. If you can't even get into the bios settings then it sounds likely motherboard/processor problem (which is generally expensive to fix). Have you tried removing the hard drive (usually accessible underneath the machine under a plastic cover with screws - but all laptops are different, may not be). If you can, do and see if it will let you into bios (which if it does would indicate a problem with the drive is stopping it loading.

I have 2 RV042's in a lab that Im trying to get a gateway to gateway tunnel setup.

I have 2x comcast connections in the lab for testing, each with static IP's.

Ive set these up before with no problem.

The setup is very simple. Ive gone over it practically 100 times.

At this point its just stuck at waiting for connection.

Heres the stange part:

The VPN logs in both devices are EMPTY. Its like they are not even trying. In the past when I have set these up, it took a few minutes to get everything working perfectly, but the VPN logs were full with all kinds of stuff. (long before I got the tunnel to connect)

Is this normal?

I made sure that the "disable firewall for true static ip subnet only" is checked on both comcast gateways and tested opening a few ports in access rules, and traffic passes fine.

:edit: I know it looks like the public IP's might be the same but they are not. The static blocks are very close to each other but they are different. In fact the first 3 octets are the same. Would that be a possible issue? :edit:

Beating my head on the wall on this one.

Answer:Cisco RV042 gateway to gateway - routers not even trying to connect?

I've had that before setting up a tunnel between a customer's RV082 and their customer who I think had Cisco equipment on their side.
Was replacing a D-Link router with the RV082 at the time (tunnel was up on the D-Link). Now I'm replacing the RV082 with a ERL3 but that's another story.

First of all, re-power everything including the Comcast modems. Don't know why that made a difference one time but it did.
Second, even if the tunnel is down, try doing something like RDP from one side to the other. It may need to see "interesting traffic" to establish the tunnel.

The other thing is to go over the firewall rules... I don't remember if I had to do rules to allow one subnet to the other or not.
I can check the config later tonight remotely to see what the rules are if you need me to.

Make sure no typos in IPs or the key.

I was given a Gateway GM5066E to try to fix. I first removed the case door and blew out the dust. I then reseated the memory sticks and power and data cables to the hard drive and motherboard. I noticed that the hard drive had power supplies connected to it for SATA and PATA. I disconnected the power cable for the PATA. I attempted to boot the computer up, but it only beeped three times and stayed where it was at. I narrowed the problem down to two of the four memory sticks were incompatible with the other two. I removed the two 512 MB Samsung sticks leaving two 1GB Kingston sticks and then tried to reboot again. Once again three beeps and freeze. I then discovered that one of the 1GB memory sticks was bad. I removed the bad one. I then removed the battery and reset the BIOS and CMOS by moving the BIOS jumper to the 2 & 3 pins. I rebooted the computer which came up to the BIOS setup screen. I cleared any passwords and made sure that it was setup to boot first to the CD/DVD Rom. I saved changes and exited I then moved the BIOS jumper back to the 1 & 2 pins. I tried a restart only to watch the monitor stay on the "NO PC signal" black screen for 30 seconds or more. After that the screen went black. After a minute or so I hit the "ENTER" key. The screen then went to the green Gateway screen. The mouse would move around the screen normally, but I could not get to any other screen. The hard drive activity LED was flashing like it was loading up programs.... Read more

Answer:Solved: Gateway GM5066E Will Only Boot To The Gateway Screen

Welcome to TSG!!

With all drives disconnected and any cards besides the video card (unless video is onboard) removed, power up and observe. It should go through the POST (or maybe the Gateway splash screen blocks it out), then attempt to boot. With no boot devices available, it should let you know that, and prompt something like <F1> to retry or <F2> to enter Setup.

A few months back I got a Gateway FPD2185W HD monitor that works fine with my old computer (AMD2000xp G-force card with XP-OS). I picked up a new Gateway FX4710-UB003A tower (Intel quad core 64bit g-force card Vista home prem64bit-OS).

The problem, the Gateway computer will not work with the Gateway monitor. I have a small Acer monitor and it works fine with the new tower, and the Gateway monitor works fine with my old computer. Both using DVI cables to connect to the tower. I even replaced / returned the tower and the second one did the same thing, so it must be a monitor thing. I would like to use the Gateway monitor due to its large size. I have even tried to boot into safe mode, but with no signal from the first makes this is even impossible.

Gateway support can't help, and best buys geeks are no help at all. So can anyone give me some idea to what is the problem? There are no drivers I can find on the internet for the monitor, (standard PIP lcd drivers should work) One computer, maybe a video card, but two, has to be drivers, monitor, or some 64bit hassle.

So HELP! Anyone!

Answer:Gateway monitor won't work with Gateway computer.

This sounds like a driver problem go to this page and scroll down to video drivers.

Hi there.

I have 2 routers in 2 different cities.

Both routers get their IP address through DNS.

Router_A.DynDNS.Org (Local IP: 192.168.2.1) and Router_B.DynDNS.Org (Local IP:192.168.1.1)

I need to setup a gateway to gateway connection between both routers.

Any suggestions? I tried different things, but nothing works out so far.

Here's a screenshot of what I might think is the closest to the solution. But I could be all wrong. I'm trying to have Router_A connect to Router_B.

I'm a newbie in WAN stuff. Any help would be really appreciated.

I have an HP that continues to give me the blue screen of death. I have tried everything but after being up over 24 hours straight and having just now gotten another blue screen of death I am going to buy a new system. It is for business and I am going to drive HP crazy until they give me my money back.

What I have now is a 32 bit and one of the systems I am looking at is a 64. I also have a 64 bit laptop. My concern, will I have much trouble with the software? I have seen it as an issue occasionally but not a ton. Here are the specs on both computers so help me out here please

It's too hard to see them compared side by side so I am attaching a word doc.

Answer:Help me decide... Gateway SX2800-01 vs Gateway DX4200-09

Sorry to hear about your troubles!

The only issue that really arises from 64-bit operating systems is in relation to drivers. I have Windows 7 64-bit, and the majority of my programs are 32-bit and they run without a problem. If you run a 64-bit OS, your drivers MUST be designed for 64-bit Windows. If Gateway is selling you 64-bit Windows, than they have driver support for it. So to put it succinctly, you won't have any problem running 64-bit Windows.

Hello,

Great site. Long time lurker, first time poster. Anyway, I'm having an issue with my Gateway to Gateway VPN connection. I have outlined the settings for both sites and I feel I should mention that this was an established connection that was working until I came in this morning. Nothing has changed (as far as I know) but for some reason I am not able to reconnect. Can you see any reason why this would be? Of course I've changed the WAN IPs and Shared Key for security purposes.

Thanks!

Daniel

Answer:Gateway to Gateway VPN issue - Was working, isn't nownow.

Have you looked at the router logs? There should be some entry in there stating what is breaking. It might be something with the Phase 1/IKE negotiation. But you'll have to check the logs to be sure.

I have a gateway to gateway setup between two rv082 routers, and the tunnel is up and working fine, but I don't understand how to setup to see my domain from one office to the other, each office is on it's one static ip and like I said it is working. I have a domain at my main office and would like to see it and connect to computers (servers) at that location. my domain is internal only, do I need to setup a dyndns account and point is to my server or how does this work? I am lost a this point. I have a vpn setup and that works fine, but that is not what I want. I thought if I am at my other office and with a tunnel connection working I should see the main office computers. please help with detailed instructions.
thanks for any help.

Answer:Solved: gateway to gateway with rv082 router

So a network diagram would do wonders in understanding what you have set up.

When you say you have a tunnel up between two RV082 routers, you have a site to site VPN tunnel running. So I don't understand what you mean by having a VPN setup, working fine, and that it's not what you want.

If you already have a domain set up, you just need to add the remote computers to the domain. This will require that the routing work properly between the two sites using the site to site VPN tunnel.

I have been trying to create a vpn gateway to gateway with 2 cellular modem(IPN4G microhard) here leave the ips assigned to each modem.

Default Gateway 192.168.10.1
DHCP Server Start ip 192.168.10.100
When I connect the tunnel I get that everything is fine as in the image(https://s7.postimg.org/647udvcbv/Tunel_conect.png) but at the moment of pinging from pc to pc I can not! Each sim card has a dynamic ip but I have assigned a static ip to one of these (with the pogram not ip) but I can not attach to the 2 a static ip because the tunnel does not make me connection. I hope you can tell me what I'm failing please! I do not know how to solve it.

Hi. How is everyone? I am having trouble with my wireless connection. I am using a D-link wireless card and a D-link modem/router. My wireless internet connection drops out about every hour, I refresh my browser, press reconnect to MSN Messenger and it is all good again. But every so often I drops out and won't reconnect, I need to restart the computer to get it connected again. When it does this, I press troubleshoot on messenger and it gives a message " Default gateway - your gateway appears to be offline ". Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks for your replies.

Is this a custom made case? Generally HDDs are mounted in a metal frame toward the front using the standard screws (fairly short) to prevent any contact with the circuitry.

Probably not, they usually don't sell just one part of a whole product.

I am trying to connect two networks at two different locations via VPN. I have been trying to find the best way of doing this, but am at a loss.

Things I have taken into account:

I have a RVS4000 Gigabit VPN router at my side. Other side has nothing as far as hardware... yet.
I have contacted Comcast and they allow VPN's but all VPN traffic counts against my 250GB data cap.
Comcast's Home service does not let me get any static IP's.
Comast Business Class is a possible option (higher data cap and static IP's)
I have looked into Hamachi, but dont think this would be a viable data transfer/Backup solution.
Do not know much about OpenVPN.
Solution needs to be an always on connection (rock solid)where, every machine in both networks can see every other machine on all networks.
Main use will be transfering Backups between two unRAID servers, but there will also be times when it is needed to RDP, file sharing, and other meanial tasks.
Security should be kept in mind.

Does anyone have any advice to get me back in the right direction? I am all over the place in my thinking at this time!!

I have come across a situation like this.
I planned to install ATA Gateway to monitor datacenter DC traffic. These 4 DCs are physical blade servers resides in a single HP blade enclosure. And 2 switches in blade enclosure are connecting to 2 different physical switches. These 2 rack switches are
basic switches which doesn't support stacking or any other method to do port mirroring (RSPAN). So will it be possible to place a gateway?
Secondly, when I ran the sizing tool, lightweight gateways can be installed on these 4 DCs with hardware upgrades. I can upgrade RAM, but since these servers are old, I have an issue with increasing processors because processors are not available to be purchased.
The recommendation is to upgrade just 1-3 cores in a server.
So I want to know whether not increasing processors in DCs will adversely affect the functionality of LWGW and the DC? And any other good method to take care (GW or LWGW) of this 4 physical DCs?

Question: Motherboard screws

Question: Thumb Screws?

On my last build (well, actually reconstruction), I got sick of using a screw driver. I am now looking to add some stuff to my server, and want thumbscrews for 5.25 and 3.5 devices. I have no idea what the standard sizes are, so does anyone know if these will work? At only $2/10, I am tempted to get them anyway, but I still would like to know if they might work.

Answer:Thumb Screws?

thumbscrews normally fit into every spot the normal screws would.....my previous cases for the screws that hold on the side panel to the screws that hold in the drives were all the same sizes and the thumb screws would fit in them.

Hello i hope you can help me. I wanted to upgrade my RAM on my Yoga 720-15. But 2 screws were really tight. So now they are stripped and have no grip. What can i do? Should a lenovo technican repair this or do i have to this by myself?

Answer:720-15 screws stripped

Hi greyspace,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Usually, for stripped screws, one of the questions tech support would ask is how it get stripped.
Upgrading laptop thereby opening the cover would not void the warranty but if anything got damaged during the process of an upgrade then it may not cover the basic warranty.

Another thing to be concerned is in cases of stripped screws, they usually send it to the depot center even if you have an On-site Repair warranty since it may include the chassis repair.

Accidental warranty may be able to cover the event to be sent to the factory repair center.

The best way to proceed here is to call in technical support to check your option.
Then you may decide how to proceed here or if you want to try using a rubber band while unscrewing as a personal choice or tech support's recommendation.

Hope this give you some ideas and help answer your query.

Regards

I have a G50-45 notebook and 3 of the screws now have come out. I've never touched the screws, they keep coming out on their own. I looked in the user manual (no luck), and the lenovo support site wasn't even helpful. I just need to know what size to order replacements, because the right side of the laptop is coming apart and I'm afraid the disk driver or the screen is going to break. There is one different sized screw on the bottom that's labeled a metric 2 .4 x 6 mm, so  I ordered a set of those thinking that they would fit the other holes but they didn't (they were too small). Help is much appreciated, thanks.

I purchased a new screen but I cannot figure out where the screws are supposed to be hidden on my particular model.  Yes, I've seen the document regarding the location on the Lenovo website but on mine, those screws don't exist. Everything is smooth, consistent, no gaps at all. I can open it everywhere except where the screws are supposed to be. I shine a light from above and I don't see screws behind the bezel. Could my laptop not have screws? Has anyone else seen this? I just don't want to break and have to replace the bezel too. Thanks.

Answer:Motherboard screws

Metal screws are best. You need the ground plane of the motherboard to be the same ground potential as the case or it will be a floating ground which can cause all sorts of issues including death of the system. The thread of the brass stand offs I have found come in 2 thread types. One is a thread same as a hard drive and same diameter screw. Others use a metric screw that has a greater thread count. Safest would be to take stand offs to a hardware store and try them against loose screws on shelf and see what one it is. Then get short screws that have a small cap head to them so that they dont ground out components or cut into traces on the motherboard. ((DO NOT FORCE A WRONG THREAD SCREW INTO A STAND OFF! )) if it doesnt thread easy the find the proper screw. You can damage the motherboard and case. One person once did this and the stand off was spun in the case, but the screw wasnt tight so the motherboard wasnt tightened down. They werent able to remove the screw that was cross threaded and the stand off was spinning in place but wouldnt come undone from case backing so the motherboard was now forever part of the damaged case. I had to get a slim wrench under the motherboard and grab the stand off hexagon body and then unscrew the cross threaded screw which snapped off in the stand off when trying to remove. Then get motherboard out and then turn and tug on the stand off to get it to bite and come out of the spun hole in the case backing. Then the repair was adding a new ny... Read more

Hello, I am hoping I can get some help with this.

I recently had a problem where any game I played would crash the computer after a few minutes of playing. I tryed everything from updating drivers and such, using a different video card, getting a new case/ power supply and more. Finally I went and reinstalled windows and that worked. The games have been going fine for a few weeks. This morning I finally got my lazy self to download SP2. Well, guess how well the games played after that? Right, the problems started again. I uninstalled SP2 and now everything is fine.

Obvously I kind of want SP2 for updates and stuff, but not if its gonna wreck my gaming. Any idea what could cause this?

I'm guessing I undo the 4 screws to take out the HD. Undoing the other 6 screws simply takes the top off to see inside (the pieces and disk, etc..).

But then I relised something if you do not have access to this your screwed how is the customer supposed to use their OS if they don't have this ?

I also am thinking of joined the Volume/Corp users. While I was requesting and claiming my new XP key I saw the Volume category. I passed it up but now I'm having second thoughts. If I get a volume key can I always use it or will I have to also request a Volume/Corp XP ISO from them?

It was not a problem though I simply called the number they provide you with then tell them your CD-KEY (this is a sticker on the DELL case) and they provide you with a new product code to enter in the blanks where it says to enter your new product code given to you by the MS rep.

I noticed that when I reformated after getting this new product code that I still used the old CD-KEY and it worked fine. I always forget that the product code and CD-KEY are differnt

Question: G570 Screws

Like everyone else on here, my G570 hinge had screw problems shortly after the warrenty ended. The hinge broke before I knew of the screw problem.  The power receptacle on the right side cameloose and was pushed in...rendering the recharge in-operable.  Local service guys can fix it all, need new case or back, rebuild the receptacle....$190....No thank you.  I now have a boat anchor. With all the know problems with this model.....Lenovo is aware of it.....they choose to ignor it.Therefore....I tell everyone about the poor quality...and will not purchase another one of theirs.

what type of screws does a lenovo y40-80 have? some of them are stripped and i need to replace them.

Answer:Lenovo y40-80 screws

Hi jwildcat ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You may check the decription and part number of screws using the hardware manual (page 97).

It usually sent out for depot repair since stripped screw may require tools to safely remove it.
If you do have the means and expertise , disassembly of parts further describes the screws as it goes.

Hope you find it helpful.

Regards

Question: Screws falling out

I got my Yoga 11s a little over a month ago.  I had a screw from the bottom fall out a couple weeks ago, but I was able to get it back in.  Now I am on vacation and it fell out again and I lost it.  Then a couple days later another one fell out.  Now there is a third one loosening up.  What could be causing this?  I have not dropped it or anything like that.  Also, where would be a common place to find a screwdriver to fit these screws?  The screws are torx, probably less than a 5T.  I would order a screwdriver online, but again, I am on vacation and would like to not worry about my computer falling apart.  Thanks!

Answer:Screws falling out

I got a set at Home Depot several years ago that was < $10. Lowes probably has them, too.

manually. Then boots up fine.
Any ideas????
thanks.

Answer:Screws Up When Restarting

After the fresh install did you reload the drivers the came with the computer and/or motherboard? Sometimes you can have some issues. Check for any yellow exclamation points in Device Manager

My P50 is shipping today! Getting excited. I plan on replacing the HDD (ordered the 500GB spinner) with a Samsung 850 SSD. I also plan on adding a Samsung 950 M.2 SSD to one of the empty M.2 slots. I ordered the M.2 SSD tray from Lenovo part # 4XB0K59917. My question is if anyone knows whether the M.2 SSD tray from Lenovo ships with screws I need to secure the drive and the card in the computer? The Hardware Maintenance manual indicates a 3mm nylon coated screw. I?ve tried to find the screw kit (OOUR839) for the P50 on Lenovo?s site with no luck. Does Lenovo not sell them because they consider them for repair only? Stupid question but, does anyone know where I can get a couple of the correct screws in the US? All of the screws on eBay are coming from Hong Kong. Thanks

Answer:Screws for M.2 SSD Install on P50

EazyE, this is my 1st post, but I've been following this P Series forum since November almost daily.  I will be ordering a P50 later this year once the faster E3-1535 CPU becomes orderable online within the North American market (this faster CPU is already available to the rest of the world - i.e., TopSeller P50 model 20EN0009++ - but not in North America yet).  Nevertheless, I have already ordered and received two M.2 SSD trays on Friday.  I confirm that each tray comes with 1 screw to attach the M.2 SSD to the tray.  Although I don't have a P50 yet, I do recall another message in this forum stating that the P50 comes with 2 screws included to attach up to two M.2 SSD trays to the computer.  So, once you receive your P50 and your M.2 SSD tray, you'll have all the screws you need to secure your M.2 SSD to the P50.

"Charlie Demerijian at the Inquirer got a look at some insider specs on the PS3, and says, Sony screwed up big time with the Cell processor; the memory read speed on the current Devkits is something like 3 orders of magnitude slower than the write speed; and is unlikely to improve much before the ship date. 'Local Memory Read Speed ~16Mbps, No this isn't a Typo.' Demerjian says when the PS3 comes out a full year after the XBox360, it's still going to be inferior: 'Someone screwed up so badly it looks like it will relegate the console to second place behind the 360.'"

Question: Screws guide?

Hello,I recently purchased a ThinkPad R61 and made the mistake of letting someone who apparently didn't know what they were doing help me upgrade the RAM. This resulted in most of the screws in the bottom of the laptop getting unscrewed.Unfortunately I can't remember which size screws go where; although I've been able to figure out where some of the screws belong, some locations remain a mystery to me.Is there a guide available that shows which size screws go where? Or can anyone give me advice?Any help is appreciated,Thanks

Answer:Screws guide?

I believe the owners manual shows this or the Hardware Maintenance Manual. The only screw that is special is the one right next to the PC card slot. It is a long screw with a long shoulder and only a few threads on the end. All the rest of the screws are fully threaded.

Where would I get replacement screws for the underside of my T61? I can no longer attach the hard drive access cover, and at least one other is missing as well. Not quite sure why they're coming loose. I don't even carry it around a lot, and have never opened it up. Perhaps I should use some low strength LoctiteŽ. Thanks.

Answer:Need case screws for T61

IBM sold me a 'bag 'o screws' when I made this request to them.  It's a small bag of every screw, nut , and miscellanous fastener present on the machine.  Perhaps Lenovo does the same thing.

So, I have noticed that the screws in the bottom of my Y40-70 fall out periodically.  I have lost three to this point, and see no end in sight. Anyone know where/how I can get replacement screws?

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:Y40-70 Replacement Screws

Check with your local computer shops or stores that repair computers like Best Buy for example.  They will probably be the quickest source for replacements.  I would also suggest before your lose anymore that you go around and tighten the remaining screws.

Page #33 in your computer's Hardware Maintenance Manual lists the screw sizes for the back cover.  Depending on location there are two different sizes used.  Page #31 of the manual explains how to properly tighten the screws.

The link below is for your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual. When working with your system please follow all precautions and recommendations that are noted in the manual.

Question: Motherboard screws

I've just taken delivery of a new case and motherboard from click here. Everything seems to be included for me to build my own PC except the screws which fasten the motherboard. The brass risers are there, but not the screws. Are there any particular sort of screws which I should seek for this purpose, or will general purpose cross head parallel screws do the job?

Answer:Motherboard screws

best thing to do is contact the place of purchase or an good pc shop to either obtain some or get advice, using your own may validate the warranty....strange but true

I have to restart my wifi router or wait for 20 odd minutes in order for my speed to get back to normal...been facing this issue for a couple of months now....I tried increasing the cache size in firefox from default 50 mb to 250mb and sometimes till 500mb....but the problem stilll persists...

Any help from you guys would be seriously appreciated...thanks :P

Question: 6600 gt screws?

I have a 6600 gt gigabyte agp card. I just bought a new zalman cooleer for it. I can't get the old heatsink off thought. It has those plastic thing you are supposed to squeeze but they wont come out. Help me

Answer:6600 gt screws?

Make sure you are well grounded. I use those blue rubber gloves that cost $12 at auto zone.. go buy some (500 pair for $12). Get a pair of needle nose pliars and gently squeez the plastic tabs closed and then work them back and forth in rotation (slowly) wihtout touching the metal part of the pliars to the board surface. Be patient and they will release.

Question: replacement screws

I need some replacement screws for the external panels - the container I was storingthem in got booted and 2 were lost.  Not sure of the threading and pitch,  exact  shank lengths, or the unique head. I also need some screws for mounting the HDDs in the HDD cage.I believe these are 6-32 x 1/4" as far as the drives are concerned, but if anyone knows different, orknows which ones HP itselfuses (unique heads) , I would appreciate knowing this!

This might suck, I don't know, which is why I'm askin you all. The XION II case, beautiful as it is, comes with 2 risers for the motherboard, and it needs three. 8 out of 9 screws CERTAINLY holds it in, so I'm not really worried. Is there any problems with not having all the screws? If I'm missing 1, will the mobo be damaged?

Answer:Mobo screws.... @$#^%!!!

Its good to put a plastic riser that clips into the motherboard screw hole in. (check the bag of screws that came with the case for any white plasticy type things and cut the bottom off it).

Question: Stand-off Screws

I just put a new motherboard in my pc but it uses more stand-off than my last one. I have enough stand-offs inside the case, but not enough screws. Where can I get some more screws? The chassis screws (those that hold the hard drive, floppy, optical drives, etc in place) are not the same thread.

Answer:Stand-off Screws

normally you would get a pack of standoff and chassis screws with your new mobo. check botom of box under packaging, however i'm sure that any good computer shop will have some lying around and will just give you some.

Try maplins, PC world or any computer component shop.
